Vanguard Wine Bar (Upper East Side)

Good wine and v nice chill vibes. service was great. cool posters/decorations on the walls making in feel homey. we got a bottle of white and it was perfect and reasonable. we went on a friday and it was pretty busy but offered a bit of calm. always playing some film in the background which gives it a unique touch. only qualm is that the cheese board was okay. not standout.

If youre looking for the perfect spot for a date night, I have to recommend Vanguard Wine Bar on the Upper West Side. Its such a cozy little place with an intimate vibe that’s just right for conversation and making memories.As soon as I walked in, I loved the warm lighting and laid-back decor. It really feels like the perfect place to escape the citys hustle and bustle.The wine list is seriously amazing! They have a great selection of local and international wines, so whether youre a wine expert or a casual sipper, youll find something you love. The staff there is super friendly and knowledgeable, so they can help you pick the perfect wine to match your taste.And don’t skip the snack menu! They’ve got a bunch of delicious bites that go great with the wine. Sharing a few snacks while sipping wine makes it that much more fun.If you want a cozy atmosphere, great wine, and tasty snacks, this is definitely the place to be!

Excellent place to grab a glass of wine alone or with friends! Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Ryan was a great server and gave us fun background on the wine we ordered. He let us sample a couple different choices to make sure we liked it before choosing our wine. I got the Fess Parker Syrah which was very tasty! It’s definitely worth stopping in here sometime!

Great local wine bar. Charcuterie board is amazing and plenty of great wines to enjoy! They also have a bunch of outlets of you need to charge a device.

Friendly, helpful bartender and a good selection of wine. Was appalled however, at the meager rations on the $29 charcuterie plate. I could make a better plate digging through a dumpster behind an italian deli. Go for the wine, but eat before.

I worked until 1am around this place and was looking for a place that was still opened to get red wine to fuel my heart. I was set for red grapes benefits this night. I started a new high veggies low carb diet so beer is minimized for 60 days.So my adventurous self pulled up the google search for places near by that were still opened. This place was like 3 blocks away. Perfect! I have my knee recovering so i didnt want to walk too far.I arrived and the bartender Tristian was super friendly. He immediatly acknowledged me and smiled. I felt welcome into a place i never been and have no idea what to expect. Im my tribe we call this teranga. It s the art of making a stranger feel welcome and comfortable.Tristian handed me the menu almost immediatly. I looked at it and he asked me what i was in the mood for. I explained little dry, but not too dry, lightly sweet, with a little biter taste as i was the ipa gal lol. Also lots of body is prefered.He suggested to taste some Chateau PeyRos i never had. I was like its 95 percent close and if u have one just like that with a little more of the bitterness it would be on the dot. He offered few others to taste but he was right! The first offer Payros was the closest to what i was going for.I said to myself: girl listen to your knowledgeable and friendly bartender!Haha...It was $14 a class and i had 2. Then headed home. Relaxed. Less pain in my knee and a super pumping heart. I drink responsibly always and listen to me body. My health insurance should cover this lol. For real! It was more pain management and stress releiver than codine and healthier.Jokes apart it was a great experience! I asked many questions and told many funny story as The Anta i are. Tristian was super informative about my options to experience this again even near the west side. I found out there is one location near lincoln center closer to my area i will surely stop by sometimes.An interesting fact i found out also is this east side location i stumbled upon has 11pm to 2am happy hour of the house red wich is not the Peyros but ill try it next time when i get the chance to visit again. I tasted it and it is light, closed to a deeper roseewine. 2 for one is the deal they are offering and thats very nice and fun.I was always wondering who has late night happy hours for the late night hard working people that do not do regular 9 to 5. Well.i got my answer. Awesome! I like this place and highly recommend it.

Cute wine bar with a great wine selection including wine from their own vineyard. Really liked the Vanguard wine (18 vintage, 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) for its price point.

Delightful wine bar, several of their own French-vineyard wines plus a great selection of other French wines. The staff knows their wine, which, you know, important at a wine bar. No notes. Lovely.

One of my favorite wine bars in the city! So cozy and warm inside with friendly, attentive service a varied, delicious menu. I love the descriptions of each wine - theyve never steered me wrong. The food menu also looks so yummy although I havent tried it yet. Such a great date spot (went here on an early date with my boyfriend, fond memories!) and I also love to come by myself to read at the bar with a nice glass. Lovely spot to catch up with friends as well, I often see groups here. Highly recommend!

This is an amazing wine bar, they have a great selection of wines and the bartender is very friendly. The atmosphere is perfect for a wine bar, relaxing and stylish. I loved everything about this place. Definitely will go back.

I threw a party here for about 35 people here and it was a seamless, positive experience! The food and wine were fantastic and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Strongly recommend!

Great for a date night! We love to go for a glass of wine after dinner nearby. FYI you have to order at the bar, but the staff is very friendly and attentive. Can definitely get crowded but usually you can squeeze in somewhere! I’ve never had a problem trying to get a spot.

Solid date spot with excellent atmosphere. Dimly lit with sort of a French feeling to it. no reservations to my knowledge but I’ve yet to have difficulty getting a table or spot at the bar. I will say, service can be slow if the bar is busy.

An elegant at the same time low-key wine bar embedding an ambiance which corresponds amazingly well with the neighborhood it’s located in. Great wine, not to mention, served by stunningly friendly staffs.

Great wine selection and atmosphere however the food was disappointing. $16 for a small plate of tarts. Bread was also around the same price and not even enough for 1 person

This is an absolutely lovely wine bar on the Upper East Side! We had a lovely taste of an up-scale sparkling rosé, accompanied by relaxing music. We were served by the excellent waiter, John. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a low-key time, but you’re still looking to feel a little fancy!

I liked that they had outlets at each table and along the bar. Cheese and fig appetizers very good. Note all they have is appetizers, no full entrees.

Horrible service! This old lady bartender ( working on Thursday) was completely rude and unprofessional! She threw a menu to me and turned around. And then told me that I’m not the only one at the bar! I wasn’t asking for all her attention but I do expect some respect. No apologies... nothing!

A good place to have a nice drink and something to eat. Havent been to NYC in a while but it felt comfortable being here. The atmosphere was great

Horrible experience! It’s really bad service. Old lady (bartender) and other lady were absolutely rude.(First time getting serviced from them).Too sad as a regular customer and neighbor, I don’t think I’d come back again here.

Had to go to hospital of special surgery and found this wine bar. At the time I am writing it it is hard to find cause they only opened 3 weeks ago. Nice ambiance and good selection of wine with a nice Bartender. Their own website doesnt even list this location yet.

Jemina made our experience so much more amazing! Even with a bar full of people she was still extremely attentive and went out of her way to interact with every customer that walked in. This will be my new go to bar in the city!!

Very cozy wine bar

Wine bar is super cute, cozy and the perfect spot for a tall glass of wine. I didn’t feel, however, like the bartender (who served my friend and I) knew his wines very well. It felt like a transactional experience rather than a place you would go to drink good wines and feel immersed in the experience. It’s a great spot to go if you just want to catch up with friends, but I was a little disappointed on the experience overall and would have loved some more warmth from the bartender.

Highly recommend! A spacious, popular space for an excellent glass of wine and nibbles (they have a decent beer selection too!). With darker lighting and candles, without a doubt this is also a lovely, very popular date spot. Every time I have gone in there, I love always finding plenty room at the bar or the tables in the back. The menu offerings are enough to satisfy a small appetite but wouldnt count on a large filling meal here. This is order at the bar service only. There was limited yet very impressive staff that covered a very busy bad, would wish there was maybe a bit more help to avoid waits. Regardless, friendly service. Enjoy!!

I have been in the two Vanguard wine Bar and it is by far a Great Wine bar. The wine selection are pure quality. It is expensive but totally worth it.The place always have a good atmosphere and the bartender always kind.The sandwich are delicious with good mix of flavour, the charcuterie table is small so go for the sandwich if you want to eat something.I totally recommend this place.

I was at vanguard the day before thanksgiving. I can’t even find the right words to describe what happened. I believe bartender name was Vivian, Not sure. Me and my friend Ibrahim ordered wine first then I ordered arugula salad and requested to change blue cheese with feta cheese because I have an allergy. She said to “ Don’t lie to me “ her exact words! “ Just tell me you don’t like blue cheese , I change it “ with an attitude! I was speechless and shocked ! I never have this kind of treatment anywhere. I will never go there again. Now it makes sense why that beautiful bar is always empty.

Cool place! Came in about 10pm on a Thursday night and it wasnt that crowded at all. The service was order at the bar and they brought you your food. I loved the pace of the service. Since it was order at the bar, we were able to just chill, relax, and catch up with friends without feeling rushed or anything. It was great. The atmosphere was neat too! Would definitely go back.

Great little neighborhood wine bar. They have a small tapas/food menu. Enough for just light bites. But a great wine menu. Very helpful staff who can recommend a wine.
