At last we’ve arrived in New York and it was time to indulge our tastebuds. We stumbled around the “burbs” for half an hour until our yearning for Italian took over.We landed on #treitaliano - a quaint Italian restaurant with the most lovely ambience. We were greeted by the delightful Aly who is an asset to this establishment. She’s customer focussed, knows the menu well and preempted our next order. Her recommendation of the home made gnocchi was was spot on. Her colleague Debora was also delightful and another asset to this restaurant. The meals were a good portion size filled with a depth of flavour that stayed on the palette for some time.We skipped dessert but it was tempting. Time permitting, we will return.Notes: kid friendly but couldn’t see any high chairs. It’s New York so parking will never be great. Dietaries can be catered for is requested. The background music was set at a good level that didn’t interrupt our conversation.#newyork2024 #thewanderingreviewer#usa2024 #newyorkitalian #treitaliano #newyorkrestaurants #newyorkrestaurant#italianfoodnewyork #newyorkitalianfood #ludlowstreetnyc #trenewyork @trenewyork

Such a shame for a restaurant with amazing food. I felt that the waitress doesnt cater to black people when I arrived. I didnt feel welcomed by her. I will have a picture of her. I came here specifically because I looked online and saw they had a toast and bubbles special on Thursdays. I was super excited to try it but was disappointed by how the waitress treated me because of my skin color. I came alone only 20 minutes after they opened and it was very empty. The waitress sat me in the back. I asked to change my seat because there was no one there and she told me she couldnt cause there were tons of reservations. Another waitress had to assure her it was okay to change my table. I did the toast and bubbles and ordered a side of fries in which was not free I told her I was willing to pay full price only $12 I heard her whispering to the other waitress can we do that. I was very confused because I didnt ask her for a favor the fries cost $12 in addition to the special and I told her I was willing to pay for it cause I can afford the extra money so I could not understand why she asked that question. Overall food very good but I will not return if she still works there as she is racist. I left within 1 hour and it was not busy as it was claiming to be. She didnt even have the decency to give me the check she asked another woman who was not white to give it to me and collect it from me while she stood around doing nothing. To the owner fire her because black people have money too and if this is how she acts as a store manager at a jewelry store I would not want her to work for me!

Had a lovely experience here for the Taste and Taste Thursday night menu!Bottomless wine for 2 hours - 1 app, entree and shared dessert. Bruschetta was amazing as well as the burrata - both very fresh and flavorful. The carbonara and pesto pasta were amazing and a great portion size. Tiramisu was also a nice size and sooo light and fresh.Ambiance of the place is beautiful- dimly lit, good music & amazing service. Highly recommend

In my opinion a hidden gem in east village! The restaurant is very intimate and perfect for any occasion. Service is amazing and friendly! Highly highly recommend coming for Thursday dinner where they have a 3 course meal with unlimited wine for $60 per person! Super worth and we loved the wine choices. Reservations definitely recommended!

Tre is great, the Thursday night special is amazing — one starter, one entree, one desert to share, unlimited (2 hour) wine that they do not skimp out on, cozy vibes. The food is always amazing, loved the watermelon salad. Gino, the owner, is great, he’s a friend of a friend and after years away I went there recently and he hugged me like it was yesterday. Kind staff, great food, nice table wine, no complaints from me! Note: show up on time, the 2 hours starts as the first people are seated, the place, understandably, gets busy.

I first dined at Tre in 2009 and since then have been a regular customer without fail - 1-2x per week. It isnt just the fact that I have NEVER in the hundreds of times I have had a meal here, had a meal that was less than soectacular. It isnt just the fact that Gino, Ashley and their team are like family and create a warm, welcoming and thriving enbironment to feast and fellowship. It isnt just the wonderful people I have met and befriended over the years building rapport bonded by our love for Tre. Its all the things - that is how I would describe being a Tre customer. Its all the things....done well and done by the finest people assembled.(Ask for the Colin special...you will NOT regret it)

Honestly, don’t even bother. The food was not fresh. From the soda being flat down to the calamari being a weird texture-everything tasted horrible. Actually one of the WORST dining experiences I have ever had in my 10 years of living in nyc. Came here with a group for brunch and spent three hours of my life waiting for mediocre food, dealing with subpar and even rude service. And then, at the end they over charged us. I don’t know how this place is in business with all of the excellent restaurants in this city. Go elsewhere.

HIGHLY recommend Tre! We first came during their Happy Hour Saturday and were blown away by their Pinot noir. While there, we heard about their Thursday $60 toast, where you get unlimited wine and a three course meal. Tonight, we did that Thursday deal, and after living in NYC for 13 yeats—this is one of THE BEST DEALS IN THE CITY. If you can get in—go!! The vibe is FUN and fresh. The service is five star. The food and wine IS SO DELICIOUS!! The owner, Gino, who opened Tre 16 years ago, greeted us at the door and showed us to our table. We really appreciated his attentiveness and passion for his business, staff, and customers. Highly recommend. You will love every moment of your experience at Tre!!

I came here for cocktails and dinner and was satisfied but not overly excited about my entree. As a starter I got the fried mozzarella bites. They are AMAZING. I would definitely recommend. But for my entree, I ordered the Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina and was pretty disappointed. It looked great and the waitress even gave it her approval, but when it came out, it lacked flavor, the pasta was a bit mushy and overall it was pretty bland. I tasted a bit of my friends calamari and that too was just okay. When the waitress came to collect our plates she felt compelled to ask if everything was okay with the food. I imagine she realized that everyone at our table of four still had the majority of our dish left on the plate. We declined her request to pack it up. Based on the reviews I may give it another try for brunch, or could potentially return for drinks and cheese bites, but Ill be leaving this place off of my list of go-to dinner spots.

Mediocre Italian staples. We had a nice table outside and the service was very good. The fried artichoke appetizer was crispy and good. The rest was mediocre at best. The eggplant had a smoky spice flavor that wasnt really Italian like and the mozzarella not that good. The whole thing didnt tasted freshly made. The chicken Milanese was very thin and dry. The Montepulciano bottle of wine very young and watery for the price. Overall a pass.

Went to Tre July 22, 2021 for dinner. We had a party of 3 and every single one of us were disappointed. Our pastas were over cooked and chicken slightly under cooked. To provide some context I’ve been going here since 2013. It was my first time since the pandemic hit. I was really excited because it was one of my favorite spots in the city. I had suggested it to my friend and her boyfriend - it was their first time.I’m giving it 2 stars because of the music and ambiance.

We were trying to a place to eat last night (a Saturday), we were able to get a table immediately after going to 5 or 6 places with 25 minutes to 3 hour waits... Tre was excellent! Came for brunch, but did not get the bottomless mimosas as we were on vacation and basically narrowly avoiding a hangover the whole time. I had the carbonara and my fiancé had the piadina. I chose better, but only just barely! We also had a few shakeratos and she had one of the better bloody marys on our trip. Coming from Portland I tend to look down my nose at most bloodies and coffee drinks, but these held up and the shakerato was especially fantastic. Thanks for making excellent food guys!

The food took quite a bit of time to come out and my chicken was really dry/bland, but it was fun to watch the first half of the U.S. v Portugal game here. They turned up the TV so that everyone could hear and enjoy. It looks like it might be cute to stop by for a drink though!

Definitely would NOT recommend this place to anyone in NYC. I came here as a visitor to the city expecting good Italian food based on the reviews but was thoroughly disappointed. Experience began with an uncomfortably hot and cramped restaurant with loud pop music playing in the background. Our server seemed disinterested in us the entire time and barely asked us how we were doing. Meal began with bread so chewy it was barely edible. We waited over 45 mins for food when the restaurant was barely full. Food was AWFUL. My pasta had so much salt and garlic I could barely eat it and everyone else had similar if not worse food. Way overpriced for what is was and not worth even trying.

This was a randomised choice while neandering in and around the famed LES nightlife district just off of the Delancey Street subway entrances. Very very popular place to be and noted that filming during the day is not unheard of ...Tre was an open aired restaurant front which is narrowing by comparison to many other restaurants three times its size. Seating at the front is a must for cocktail-chasers en masse. Almost done over with a clunking of glasses, cheers, and a calvacade of smiles running across tables. Once inside, the industrial lit roominess is sparse. So reading menus comes with having to pull out the phone to get a grip on seeing more with the flashlight on ! Nevertheless, the aluminum seats are definitely harder on the underside after an hour or so seated. Unless proven to cheekier sides that withstand the pressure !On ordering we found a nice selection of appetizers to entrees. Having one appetizer split between us it seemed fine (Fried Artichokes). But upon reception on our entrees my best friend from LA liked his immediately, seeing mine just as well. Though the first bite into it was a wallop of sodium packed fettuccine. Even after trying to get it down was another. It screamed of stinging the palate. An aftetaste that certainly only tortilla chips have had the same valence branded by very recognizeable chip brands in food stores across the country. So the waiter really politely accepted to exchange it for something else. Yet I re-ordered the same entree. Minutes later, having it brought onto the table -- all smiles, and awaiting a new morsel. The bite didnt take long to again find the same high-sodium laced contents in the dish. It was somewhat palatable. Being starved for something to eat -- just let on how wonderful it tasted. My friend took a couple of bites and conveyed how salty it is.So, aside the innumerable other patrons crowding to get into the place within the hour of dining there, finally reached our limits and departed. My friend graciously covered the bill. Of course it deeply reminded me of someones urinating into the food and what it would taste like if it were true. But we agreed that it probably was the ratio by combining salted butter with mushrooms and adding more salt to the mixture to taste. If a very select unsalted butter had simmered the mushrooms altogether the tasted results would be more delicately balanced. Than this.Culinary arts on the one hand watched via many YouTube videos from food experts like Anthony Bourdain onward --- impresses one to note unsubtle flavors. To distinguish bad tastes to more pleasurable ones overall. So having purchased an entree only to discover no change is awfully embarassing to return it to the kitchen a second. We havent much in the way of knowing where to dine out. When [not in a group like setting] guises can be reached by the ambiance, staging, lighting, and to the number of patrons already seated within the venue. All of these simple elements often make it easier to get settled on choosing a place to dine to talk. Or to conversely hold a private conversation audible enough to hear each other in dialogue.Without this it wouldnt be fair to say whether or not that the restaurant doesnt have its popularity among the number of customers clambering in for the night air to partygoers seeking a nightcap before heading out.Not that we disagreed on my entree but it wasnt the greatest Italian food joint honestly. Moreover, there are so many better places that will equally rank side-to-side with its food quality, whether from another borough or venue without all of the pertinent pay staging. And to dine elsewhere. So many good places get overlooked or become under-rated due to the general lack of patrons. BUT surely having tried other Italian restsurants even in Milano, is just knowing what those subtleties are about.

I feel like the quality has gone down at this place; the Fusilli Napolitana used to be one of my favorite pasta dishes in the city. Now I think they use the same Barilla dried rotini that I use when I make it at home. Other dishes served to our dinner party on a recent Friday night were equally lackluster. On the plus side, where else in the city (besides your own home) can you get out of a proper sit-down dinner with tax and tip at around $50 per person?
