A Hidden Gem with Authentic Swiss Delights! We stumbled upon The Lavaux by chance while heading to Pastis, and what a fantastic discovery it turned out to be! The service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food and wine transported us straight to Switzerland, with flavors that were both authentic and exquisite. As frequent travelers to Switzerland, we can confidently say that The Lavaux captures the essence of Swiss cuisine perfectly. From the fondue to the wine selection, everything was spot on. This place is a true gem, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a genuine Swiss dining experience!

It’s really all about the experience - this cozy little place really knows how to create a wonderful atmosphere. Tuesday night IS the night to go, who knew it’s all been happening for years now??? Secret message party! It’s not a little secret anymore 😉 well, unless you snag a 7 pm reservation on a Tuesday and join in the fun of talking to a stranger about … well, just about anything your little heart desires! A reservation IS a must because the place gets packed and you’ll miss out on all the fun. The wine selection is wonderful and I very much enjoyed a nice, crisp, delicious glass (or two haha) of one of their several Chasselas. The fondue was not as wonderful (hence loss of a star) and perhaps next time well stick to the cheese board and just the wine and the game 😋 and for that I have to say the price tag was a biiiiiiit too high but I guess you’re really paying for the experience (so be aware). The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend a visit but make sure it’s a Tuesday and make certain you’re making a reservation!

Hands down, one of the most charming spots in NYC, especially on a Tuesday night. The secret note party is a must-experience! I decided to go solo and ended up having one of the most enjoyable nights of the year here. Each guest receives a notepad and pen to write a secret, anonymous note that gets discreetly passed to its intended recipient by the hosts. The concept adds a unique touch to the already incredible food and service. Booking well ahead (1.5-2 months) is essential, but its absolutely worth the wait! I highly recommend trying it solo—its surprisingly fun.

Open the doors to The Lavaux and you experience a blend of rustic charm with urban elegance. It began with three visionaries who left the picturesque vineyards of Lavaux, Switzerland, to bring a piece of Switzerland to the West Village. All wines come from Switzerland and you get to taste the wine before committing to a whole bottle. Every Tuesday, they have a secret message party. You get to comment, ask questions, or basically write whatever you want anonymously. It gives you a lot of new ideas you never thought of with so much fun. It makes the dinner much more interactive, exciting, and most importantly more fun. Enjoy their appetizers, entrees, and cheese fondue while replying secret messages. The chocolate fondue at the end is just the perfect way to top off your stomach after a fantastic meal.Saint-Saphorin “Pierre Noirse” 2022$24 per glassPlan-Joyeux Rouge (2021)$22 per glassLavaux Blend “La Vigne a Paul” (2020)$22 per glassThe Mixed BoardThree different cheeses & charcuteries$24 for two ; $42 for fourChalet’s Pasta$27Truffle Fondue$49 ppChocolate Fondue$20 pp

The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a classic fondue and their house wine. The server was right, their house wine paired very well with the fondue. The fondue came with fingerling potatoes, pickles, and some radishes. The cheese was flavorful but also not too salty nor too overpowering. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, combined with the natural sweetness, it was perfect for the fondue. The sourdough bread was quite nice, too. The only imperfection was that they forgot the beef tartare I ordered, but it also didn’t showed on my check anyway. Overall, I had a good time here.

The charcuterie and cheeses were amazing. We mainly went for the fondue but it tasted like they dumped an entire jar of minced garlic in there. If you’re a garlic lover I wouldn’t even get the garlic add-in, it’s way too overpowering and far too salty. Disappointing because that’s the main reason we went, but the service was fantastic.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Lavaux Wine Bar in the heart of NYC, and it was truly an exquisite experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for a delightful evening. The selection of wines at Lavaux is nothing short of impressive. Whether youre a seasoned wine connoisseur or a casual wine enthusiast, their extensive menu caters to all palates. The knowledgeable and friendly staff, specifically Jasmine, are more than happy to guide you through the options, ensuring you find the perfect pairing for your preferences. The attention to detail in the presentation of both the wines and the accompanying charcuterie board was exceptional. Each sip and bite felt like a journey through flavors, highlighting the thoughtfulness that goes into curating the menu. The cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere, complete with dim lighting and comfortable seating, created the perfect setting for an intimate gathering or a celebratory night out. What truly stood out at Lavaux was the impeccable service. The staffs passion for wine and dedication to customer satisfaction added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. Their recommendations were spot-on, and it was evident that they genuinely cared about creating a memorable experience for every guest. Don’t miss out on the secret message party they do on certain nights too! Cheers to Lavaux for an unforgettable evening of great company and even better wine!

Restaurant seemed understaffed and a bit confused the night we went. There was rarely a moment we didn’t have to ask for the next thing rather than actually being proactive or taking our orders. Special place – a (French) Swiss wine bar!Great selection of Swiss wine, and fun fondue to go with it.Fun space too, including outdoor seating (great for COVID times, or just winter vibes) and a gondola (date spot)! That said, it’s poor value (as with many Swiss things – expensive for good, but not great, quality): $38 for a flight?? (Admittedly 4 wines and generous pours, but Corkbuzz in Chelsea market is better wine at half the price.)The service is also lacking: not bringing a fresh glass is fine at a casual wine bar, but not at $38. ... and wait staff didn’t bother to clear the table of used glasses. This is just lazy.Overall mixed: special, but flawed.

I am in love. Admittedly, Im no fondue expert—this was my first real experience (excluding chocolate fountains at corporate events)—but everything I had was simply mind-blowing.You have a choice of a number of fondue types from classical gruyere to more the more exotic porcini mushroom-infused. We were feeling spicy and decided to get the Poivre du Vignoble which has Sichuan peppercorns. Holy smokes, this was the best decision ever. Each fondue comes with bread and a small platter of vegetables including potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and pickles. We were a little skeptical about the pickles, but they ended up being delicious dipped in cheese. I do wish they had given us some more variety or choices of what to dip, but it was plenty for 3 people. The wine list is extensive, but we went with rose because summer. Service was lovely. And the space is warm and cozy, evoking a Swiss chalet. You can see them making the fondue at the back of the restaurant, and you can book the little ski gondola at the front for a romantic date.

We had wine and tried the tomato fondue and the three cheese fondue. Both were really good, but the crowd favorite was the tomato fondue. The three cheese taste is strong, as expected. They provide you with bread, pickles, and potatoes. We were overall unimpressed. The good part is that you can ask for more bread and they will not charge you extra- you will need more if you want to finish the fondue. The wine was good, but pricey for the quality. We also tried the chocolate fondue, it taste like milk chocolate and it’s very good, not overly sweet. I hosted a surprise birthday party for my husband here last night! 7 of us in the chalet. I booked about two months in advance because I have no chill (probably not necessary to book that early but it was for a December party so I wanted to make sure) and from the very beginning the customer service was wonderful! My original guest list changed a bit and they were very accommodating (from 11 to 7) and they also let me come a little early to set up some table decorations. Nathaniel was our host and also our server and truly made the night a success, from helping to choose the right fondue to coming up with a fake storyline to get my husband to go inside the restaurant and ask for my work partys reservation. The food, wine and service was lovely as was the chalet. It was quite warm inside for a mid-December evening and so cozy and adorable. They have a Bluetooth speaker inside and we designated a DJ and enjoyed lots of fun music. People were walking by us outside on the street telling us how fun and cute we looked! Just be careful of the bike lane as you enter and exit! ;) My guests had a blast. The entire night will be something my husband and I never forget. I probably wont plan another surprise party for a while (too much stress keeping secrets!) but this couldnt have gone any better and Lavaux (and Nathaniel!!) made it happen. I will recommend this place to anyone.

The staff was friendly, the lady server was patient and explained to me my options about the different meats and allowed me to taste the wine before making a final selection. I was disappointed since the menu for 2 doesnt apply for 1 person and they charge you $8 for each charcuterie or cheese selection. Charcuterie is both near, cheeses and some fruit in it but in this restaurant its just the meat in the menu. Anyway, the lady server was more firm, didnt have a pleasant aura but was attentive and patient. The meat had a unique texture, I had prosciutto which tasted very hammy, the duck sausage was good and they only had one cheese available since its seasonal which I didnt understand. The gentleman server gave me my bill and was very kind to me, very experienced and I liked his energy with the clients. The restaurant is clean, small and cozy. The food I selected or the cut of it was disappointing thats why my rating is 1 star. I didnt like it nor would I go back, wasnt for me. So for those looking to get a charcuterie consider going for a party of 2 or 4 and remember they only have one cheese if youre looking for more cheese options seek elsewhere. For one person its more and they give it it you in a plate instead of getting a smaller board. They also served mine with some jam, and these tiny pickles of a sort, the bread is very soft texture and the interior was dark. The extra items werent to my liking.

Dirty glasses. 1 waiter for the whole place. Super rude. Super slow service. Fondue 🫕 is served with pickles and fresh radish, boiled potatoes and tomatoes. Bitter taste. No wine pouring, no explanations, no water. Absolutely over rated, dirty, poorly managed place. We’ve made reservation for birthday and we’re counting seconds to leave. Cheese and charcuterie board is the only thing which we did enjoy. (That’s why I can add one star ⭐️) Busboy was polite. Waiter was not. They gave us $58 discount but even with discount for 4 we’ve end up paying $170 which is ridiculous for this kind of service. I highly recommend owners to visit places around with their servers, and show them how service should look like.

Okay, so last year I went to Geneva and fell in love with Chasselas wine. I knew that Switzerland exports a small percentage of their wine so I brought a few bottles back to last me for a few months. Low and behold, my SO found The Lavaux and surprised me for my birthday! I was finally reunited with Chassealas wine! The wine list was just to my liking and actually exceeded my expectations. The ambiance is romantic, cozy, and dimly lit. Our waiter was phenomenal and was very pleasant! We ended up ordering the truffle fondue and it was sO delicious! After a while the truffle did become overpowering, but the fondue def filled us up that we never made it to the chocolate fondue for dessert. I highly recommend visiting The Lavaux for a cute date night, dinner night, birthday, or just catching up with friends.

The atmosphere here is great and our server was lovely. The cocktails were nice too. That being said, we ordered the truffle fondue and were very disappointed. You couldn’t taste any truffle and the fondue itself tasted overwhelmingly like vodka. We left most of it untouched. The only sides to dip were tiny pickles, potatoes, and cold bread. A bit strange. The chocolate dessert fondue was good and the fruit was very fresh, but overall it was overpriced and did not deliver.

Fondue was excellent, though the bread was very fresh (vs slightly stale - which is how the bread is meant to come with fondue). We had the traditional and mushroom.Salads were also well done - we had both.Duck saucisson was a lovely touch!!Only feedback is that there was 1 server for indoors and outdoors - and several tables seated for dinner. He was doing his best running between tables, but there needed to be 1 more person helping him (we waited quite awhile).

I give a 4 star because less just doesn’t feel right, but buyer beware for what they offer it is overpriced by 2x.Now - the experience was great, live music was a plus. The fondue was created and prepared well with a unique Swiss flair.Overall I’d recommend it.

The odor upon entry is very much like toes after a long day of sunbathing in Washington square park. The waitress was super nice, but the entire experience just wasnt that great. For an appetizer 2 drinks and fondue, came out to 160+ after tip, I think you can get a far better bang for your buck elsewhere. I didnt love the cheese, and also the only thing they offered with the fondue is pickles and potatoes, i wouldve like more options.

We had the fondue here, which was good....I just wish they had more options to go with the fondue, especially meat items. We got some bread, pickles, radishes, and potatoes to dip into our fondue. I am not a fan of pickles and they were placed on top of the potatoes. They very graciously brought more potatoes that had not been tainted by the pickles. I did also wish the potatoes had been seasoned a bit.Our server was attentive and the experience itself was great!!

Weve been looking for really good fondue in NYC, and now weve found it. Very cute, attractive comfortable place with exposed beams and friendly efficient service. The Swiss wines were good and interesting. We had an excellent salad with hard boiled egg and cubes of cheese and roast potato and walnuts. The salad was well thought out, excellent ingredients, and a generous portion -- we split it for two and it was nearly too much. Then we had the Assemblage fondue and it was very tasty and perfectly prepared. Served with little tomatoes, radishes, gherkins, pickles, potatoes and scallions. And excellent crusty bread. This will be our go-to fondue restaurant from now on, so glad that we found it.

A wonderful Swiss dining experience here in NYC. The service is impeccable. Everyone at the Lavaux takes the time to introduce you to the food and wine, which is quite special given that everything comes from Switzerland. Its an immersive and intimate experience dining here. The wine is honestly the best wine Ive ever had - so smooth and silky. Im normally a fan of red wine but their chasselas are hard to beat! The fondue too is just amazing. WOW! This place is absolutely incredible! Having visited Switzerland several times I can honestly say this is a 100% authentic Swiss dining experience! Our group of 5 spent almost 6 hours dining and drinking (in classic Swiss fashion we took our time). The owners have their own vineyard in the Lavaux region of Switzerland and import their own wines of which we sampled several of the Chasselas (including the Dezaley Grand Pertuis which was out of this world!). The mixed charcuterie board was fantastic, the Raclette was amazing, the Creation fondue (classic gruyere and vacherin) was as authentic as any fondue Ive had in Switzerland, and the chocolate mousse dessert was ridiculously good. The service was incredible and the staff are all extremely knowledgeable and kind. We will definitely be coming back to sample the other fondue options and, of course, more of the incredible Swiss wines!
