This place is fantastic BUT loud. It’s a tiny place and going at peak - 7/8pm is intense. However, the food and service were amazing! This is some of the best vegan pasta around! The date cake was delicious and moist. The focaccia was delicious and worth it. We could’ve ordered a second plate! If you are two people, I’d recommend the tables instead of the bar. It’s a bit crowded and more in the way.
Very tiny and intimate space. As a vegan visiting from LA we decided to go with the tasting menu to try all of the pastas + a bottle of wine. The tasting for 2 people is a perfect amount, maybe even 3 if you want a lighter meal before hitting the town. The Gigli w/ Truffles was the standout dish, but cannot emphasize how amazing everything was.Our servers were so accommodating and even gave us a salad on the house because we were sat right by the door, and asked to move but there were other reservations which I completely understand. One of the best meals I have had and still blown away by how amazing everything was and 100% vegan.Great spot for a date night.
Loved it! Beautiful to be able to take myself on a date. Perhaps the almond ricotta was slightly on the watery side and maybe I should have gotten dressing on the side of the blue cheese salad because very strong for me but super delicious and Blue cheese salad tasted like how I remember blue cheese salads to taste. Wine is amazing ! What a selection of unique orange varieties. I settled on a Portuguese 2018 sav Blanc by huma they had on hand
Great place for vegan pasta! Dishes are a bit on the smaller side, but definitely nice to order a bunch of pastas to share. We ordered 6 for 4 people and it was fun trying them all, really cant go wrong with any. Personal favorite was the gnocchi. The foccacia is also delicious and well done.Space is cozy and quite dark, but does add a nice ambiance.
We everything about love Soda Club. Delicious vegan pastas paired beautifully with a great selection of wines from around here world. It’s really bugging me that I’m forgetting our server’s name - but he was dope! He talked in depth about the wine selections and let us sample before choosing. The dessert we had was also the cherry on top of our experience. It’s a bit dark in the space but it set the mood for date night
We had such a memorable time dining in this intimate, warm, tiny restaurant! We decided to partake in the pasta tasting option and were so happy we did so. Each dish was delicious and perfectly portioned for two. With that option, you get a choice of any bottle of wine they have. We finished off by splitting a piece of the date cake which was pure magic! Wonderful date night meal! Make your reservation ahead of time.
I’m usually extra event with vegan places but unfortunately our experience was not a pleasant one last night. The food left much to be desired (we ordered two appetizers, three mains and a dessert) and we felt very rushed (there was still an hour to closing and we were the only other table). The cannoli was absolutely horrible (looks better than is) but it didn’t matter too much as the server kept asking if we were done and took away the plates despite not having finished…
Soda Club is a great mix of modern and classic Italian cuisine. We had four dishes and we liked all of them. Wines are also decent. Brilliant way to show that vegan food can be really tasty. Definitely, we will come back.
Insanely good Italian place (even tho it’s vegan)Bottle of Greek whiteHerbed ricottaGnocchi - specialGigliDate cakeAll Ws
One of THE BEST vegan restaurants in all of NYC hands down! This was my second time visiting and I brought my sister who is not vegan. We were both stunned as to how the food was all vegan as it just tastes like the most amazing pasta we have ever had vegan or not! I am vegan and I wish all vegan restaurants were this good! The ambience is fantastic and overall you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorite is the carrot top pesto gnocchi and their extensive wine bar collection. ❤️
Mama Mia! This place was so good. Will definitely go back. Excellent wine selection. Every pasta dish was perfection plated. We’ve been talking about it for days.
Delicious food, great wines and kind service! Small place with dimmed lights and the right crowd. I relly enjoyed it, everything was perfect! Hard to believe its vegan ;)cant wait to go back there next time Im in NYC
Visited Soda Club last week, here are my notables:⭐️Loved the wine selections - favorite was the País (if you like lighter red wines like me.) Enjoyed our experience at the bar seating.⭐️The olives were a unique experience with a spicy sauce and plant-based feta. Fantastic with the focaccia.⭐️The Gigli pasta is a prize on this menu - so damn delicious. Everything about this dish 😍⏰I’m really happy we are early birds and came at 6PM. Later in the eve it is packed and I mean every single seat taken….All in all: I’d definitely come back.
Vegan heaven. Intimate restaurant. Great service. Wonderful food.
What a gem! Everything was wonderful from start to finish! Everything! I don’t know where to begin.. The wine selection was on point, the service was wonderful and friendly, they make fresh pasta daily, all the produce is natural, all plant based, organic and fresh delivery. You could totally taste the freshness in the food. The burst of flavors and the complexity of flavors.. oh la la.. Can’t express much! Just go and try it out!
Incredible dining experience in Manhattan. To start we had the Castelvetrano Feta Olives followed by the ‘Six Course Pasta For Two’ - every dish was delicious. My personal favourite was the Ravioli, with the Gigli and Cappelletti as close contenders. Gnocchi was also excellent. Paired with an Organic Spanish Red. Quaint ambiance. Some of the best plant-based food I’ve ever had. I’d love to return!
I actually really enjoyed the space, it’s tight and cozy, loads of wine if you love wine. The pasta though, is REALLY good. The plates are a bit small so order a couple if you’re really hungry like I was. The appetizers, drinks, pasta, everything amazingggggggg. Love to see vegan places creating an original menu like this
I loved the vegan options! I had the gigli pasta and the date cake - it was all so delicious (pasta a little undercooked)!!! The servers were nice and the place was clean. The only issue was space (a little cramped).. I didn’t mind sitting at the bar to eat, but when a actress and her friends came in without a reservation, they suddenly made room.. When I’m paying $100 for a week night dinner, I want to be treated a little more fairly.
Cosy and warm ambience though quite tight on the space. More like a wine bar kind of feel. The menu is small, well curated and focuses on Italian (pastas to be specific)dishes. The pastas we ordered were delicious, balanced on taste and sauce and was hard to believe that they were vegan. Enjoyed the experience and may return to try the other pastas if I am in the area. Service was friendly and polite.
Food: 5/5Drinks: 4,5/5Service: Mathias (5/5), other waiter (1,5/5)Value for $: 3/5Recommendation: GIGLI with truffle cream sauce & crispy leeksSide note: Too expensive for what you are offered. Red wines are plain. Recommended white one of ‘Vogel and Meer’ was great. The other waiter seemed to be having a bad day as he paid no attention to us and was not friendly at all.
Cute place for drinks date night. Space inside rather small but intimate; we got the best seats/table all the way in the back. Portions were def small here. The zucchini flan was so-so; olives were chopped up. Tagliatelle was okay; 3 of us ordered the same thing; it was delicious, not silky, more so sticky, but I did like it. Can’t say the same for the others. My friend’s ravioli dish seemed very small. Wine list was pretty impressive and they had quite the orange wine selection.
This place was amazing! Yummy fresh pasta, a great assortment of wine options and a chill, sexy vibe. Id love to see wine pairings under the pasta dishes! Ill def be back!
We had a girls night out with din din at @sodaclubnyc . It was a whole vibe!Beautiful decor, great food, wine and dessert. What more could a girl ask for!? We ordered Foccacia, Arancini, Gnocchi, and Ravioli. And ended with Date Cake & Cannolis because dessert is always necessary!
Such a beautiful place. The bartender had such unique stories that he shared, especially about the wines we drank. It’s really what I was looking for in a wine bar. The food was fresh and perfectly curated. You can tell they took the time to think of everything here. The food was SO GOOD. I’m not vegan and had no idea this was vegan until I got home. Every single thing is good but I can’t stop thinking about the carta chip appetizer and the date cake dessert is hands down one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Might be the best. Can’t wait to come back :)
A cozy East Village wine bar, with a friendly staff, specializing in pasta with tasty vegan cream-based sauces.Start your meal with the focaccia, then dive in with the tasting menu where you can try six pastas with a bottle of wine for $75pp. It’s hard enough to choose one of the six on its own but with the addition of the wine bottle (up to a $60 value), the pasta tasting is the way to go. It includes:- Bucatini arrabbiata- Cappelletti with morels- Gigli on truffle cream sauce- Fiochetti with corn and maitake mushrooms- Ravioli with chanterelles- Tagliatelle with broccoli rabeTwo pastas come at a time which are meant to be shared. The menu showcases different preparations of various mushrooms. And if you love truffle, like I do, two of the dishes were truffle-forward.Save room for dessert—the date cake cuts through the creamy sauces ending you on a high. Located just across Tompkins Square Park, the Soda Club is a perfect spot for a date night.
Loved this spot. Great natural wines with surprisingly incredible pasta. Highlights of our small meal were the ‘de sol a sol’ orange wine and the gnocchi with carrot top pesto. 🤌
Excellent pasta. Everything is vegan. The Cappelletti with the truffle oil was my favorite. Good vibes. Would recommend for groups of 2-4.
Our meal moved us, emotionally. One dish (pasta in brodo) almost brought tears to my eyes, and might be among the best things I ever ate. Everything was just perfect, 10/10, exceptional food and atmosphere.
Delicious food, cool vibe, and excellent service. All the food was delicious, but the real star was the date cake - holy cow, the sweet/salty balance was insanely perfect. The wine in the huh? category was also unique and delicious. Amazing pasta, amazing appetizers, amazing meal. Cant wait to go back.
First of all, thank you to the staff member who went downstairs to carry up a different chair for my baby to sit in 🙈I felt bad but it was so helpful so it was greatly appreciated 🙏🙏🙏Secondly, the food is top notch. This was my second visit and I got all the same things and somehow it was even better this second time. Gigali? Tagliatelle, and ravioli and focaccia are my favorites! My daughter also loved 🫶Thank you and well be back!!
Stopped in late and the kitchen was closed already but we had a wonderful experience at the bar. Mathias have wonderful advice on our wine selections. We will be back for dinner
My wife and I absolutely loved our meal at Soda Club! We had reservations for a Saturday dinner. My wife isnt vegan but loves Italian food and we both really enjoyed the simplicity and flavours in the bucatini!! Im still thinking about it days later. The arancino, arugula salad, and date cake were also delicious. I only wish the date cake was a bit warmer to go with the ice cream. This is arguably one of my favourite vegan restaurants in the city. We will definitely be back very, very soon!!!
The food is wonderful. But the setup is terrible. The bar takes a lot of room from a very narrow walkway. Make it very inconvenient dining in a fancy restaurant.
Soda club offers vegan Italian fare. They freshly make pasta and ravioli in house with delicious sauces. The focaccia bread was delicious and fluffy. The server was attentive and the meal was served without much wait time. I loved the ambiance it’s small but has an elevated vibez, good for date night or even casual hang out.
Came here for my girlfriends bday, and for that specific purpose the experience was fine. We did 2 pasta tastings that came out to 200$ and while a one-off visit for a special occasion was just fine, I wanted to share some details about the experience:Service: it took a while for the first waiter to get to the table, but once they did, several waiters would stop by often so that was nice. For the price and fame though, there are some details that I feel need to be hashed out to be on par with the cost. Youre waiter probably should not describe a wine to you as crazy for starters. They will bring you a stack of small plates, napkins, and silverware and leave them on the table as such. So be prepared to set your own place. The waters were brought in 2 different types of glasses. And we asked to have our plates changed after each course so as not to mix flavors since it is, after all, a tasting. Something I would have thought would be done automatically. We also tried a few wines as the first one was not great, and the waiter asked us to down each glass so he could refill it with a different wine. I personally didnt care but if youre a wine snob who came to a wine bar, you may not be too pleased. The courses were brought out at a good pace.Food: food was good. Not great, not bad, but good. Your mind will not be blown, unless you love truffle in which case you will get your fill. My biggest issue was the portion size. For 200$, you get 1 of each pasta entree to share, brought out 2 at a time. Each entree was, for me, almost laughably small. Meaning that if you order a la carte, be prepared to leave hungry or order enough plates to leave satisfied, at which point you might as well do the tasting. I dont eat much, so just think that with the tasting you are downing 3 entire entrees by yourself. I did, and left just full enough to not be hungry anymore. One plate is literally 5 small ravioli, so keep that in mind when considering how much youre paying for it.Atmosphere: this was the best part and really set the bar for the expectations on the food and service. Its a beautiful place. My only point here is that if you happen to be sat at one of the tables along the wall opposite the bar, your dining experience will include leaning in towards that wall every time a server or guest walks by (which is often), or you can not do this and have your elbow knocked around constantly while you eat.Overall, I guess this restaurant reminds me why I left NY for good 8 months ago (Im just visiting now). The price to quality ratio just doesnt make sense here (both NY and this restaurant), and I guess by the rating of this restaurant a lot of NYers have just accepted it. I wont be coming back to soda club, it was a fine experience but just too expensive for what you get.
Cannot say enough great things about this place! Every single dish was exceptional.
I had forgotten this was a vegan restaurant until midway through our dinner that my coworkers reminded me. And I thought to myself, oh wow ok, this food is really good for being vegan food!We had 7 pasta dishes to share among the 3 of us -- it was enough food for 3.Then the date cake for dessert was a pleasant surprise. Sweet with a hint of salty was a nice combination. We arrived at around 6:40pm without a reservation and were able to get 3 seats at the bar, but the restaurant quickly filled up by 7pm
Soda Club is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in NYC. Every single dish was great with many exceptional ones.I’ll begin with starters. The Watermelon & Peach Salad was delicious and refreshing with the roasted peaches really knocking it out of the park. The Focaccia was also delicious with a very interesting and tasty dipping sauce. Now for the Pasta. The Gigli, Ravioli, and the Tagliatelle were all delicious with different flavor profiles and uniquely fantastic flavors. The Date Cake was also delicious with a toffee sauce that was reminiscent of butter scotch.Overall this place is a home run. I’ll definitely be returning again and again.
This is the place to be for great food and a great vibe. I came with friends and ordered the focaccia, ravioli, gigli, and date cake and everything was delicious! One of my favorite vegan spots in NY! The staff is great too, especially Hamat. He was attentive, helpful, kind. A rare find in the service industry.
Was really good. Was a tad cold outside on the patio but we forgot once the food came. Delicious pasta overall and flavors were nice. Wine was fantastic and the date cake was 😋. We started with the foccacia appitizer and had the 6 meals feom the tasting menu. Only wish is that there menu had more options.
Very good food, cant believe its vegan. I recommend getting three pasts if you are two people.
I wish I could give this place 100 stars, so so incredible. The food is insane, as is the service. We loved the Cappelleti, but truly alll of the pastas are amazing. Fig salad was great too, and was a big portion! I will be coming back anytime I’m in the city.
It pains me to say it but Soda Club has enough reviews for this negative review to not hurt it too much. Perhaps the chefs had an off day. You never know. But I wont be going back to find out.Service? 100%. Chefs kiss. The server was friendly and gave my partner and I a half glass of rosé each to kick off our celebration. He also let us taste the Aaron Burr Cidery Elder Pomme ($14) cider when we couldnt decide between more rosé and the cider (the cider had a unique funkiness so we chose that).Food? The herbed ricotta with roasted tomatoes and focaccia ($16) and watercress salad ($18) were fine. Nothing special. The focaccia was underbaked (can see a stripe of undercooked dough in my photos) and lacked the open crumb and large holes of focaccia (aka not focaccia). The pasta dishes, while cooked perfectly, were bland and under-salted.The vegan cream sauce of the gigli ($19) was flavorless and watery and pooled at the bottom of the bowl. The filling in both stuffed pastas we ordered, the cappelletti ($24) and the fiochetti ($21) was stodgy and flavorless despite the powerhouse ingredients of truffle oil, morel mushrooms, and/or porcini. The wrappings were too thick.Soda Club has a Bib Gourmand distinction from Michelin. This completely baffles me. I refuse to believe that this is the best vegan pasta in NYC.
This place is excellent - cozy, long wine list, and great service. Favorite dish was the gigli pasta!
Tried @sodaclubnyc - a must try gem in east village, probably some of the best italian food we’ve tried in new york ! The space is a little cramped in a quintessential new york kind of way and the service is amazing. Here is what we had :1. Focaccia : was so soft, fluffy and tasted so good with the olive oil (9/10)2. Herbed Ricotta : the focaccia, ricotta and the cherry tomatoes went really well together (8/10)3. Ravioli : absolutely delicious with the sauce was creamy sauce (9/10)4. Gnocchi : was fried on the outside and really soft on the inside, a definite must try ! (9.25/10)5. Gigli : probably the best on the menu, the crispy leeks paired well with the soft pasta !! (9.5/10)6. Cannoli : a little on the average side (7/10)Can’t wait to go back to try the sample menu and the date cake !!
As someone who is relatively apprehensive about trying new foods - although I will say, I have gotten much better since my youth - I was quasi nervous about going to Soda Club with a few friends before a concert. I love pasta/Italian food as much as the next Italian (which I am, although my name probably isnt a great indicator) but adding in the vegan element automatically makes my brain second guess what Im eating and I become trepeditational. Im happy to say, after going to Soda Club, my reservations have been lifted and I eagerly look forward to my next visit.Greeted and primarily served by Chris, he was an excellent steward in my food journey and he was able to break down what exactly I was eating in an educational and appetizing way, just like the chefs on Top Chef do such a good job of doing. From the arancini, bucatini, cappelletti and ravioli to the cannoli/date cake for dessert, the meal was incredibly delicious. Not to mention the excellent drink/wine pairings Chris suggested as well. If you had never told me that the entire menu was vegan, I wouldnt have believed you - pretty much just like that Chris Farley SNL sketch where he cant believe hes drinking coffee crystals.Aside from the food, the atmosphere was perfect as a date spot with decadent lightning and a cozy, intimate vibe.Ill definitely be going back to Soda Club, and other Overthrow Hospitality locations!-Zach
Excellent meal with a great wine selection and fantastic vegan pasta! Really wonderful place, Ill always come back!
Truly the most perfect spot! We were one vegan, one GF, one sober pal and we all had the best time! First of all, the atmosphere is beautiful- the back room seats larger parties and felt private and intimate while still a part of the beauty of the restaurant. We did the tasting menu so we could try them all- 2 bottles of wine per two people. They have GF pasta they will sub, they also only use semolina in their non GF pasta so may be totally OK for just the gluten sensitive vs allergy. Every single dish was so unique and flavorful- I love when vegans get the chance to try a white sauce or ravioli as those are never present as options for vegans at non-vegan places. I couldn’t even tell you our favorite- everything was phenomenal- we had both desserts and they were also great. Our server Matias was such a joy to encounter- he also sources the wine so was so knowledgeable so we trusted his recommendations and we were not disappointed. Overall- a new staple in my NYC visit mix.
AMAZING!! Came in with high expectations and they were totally exceeded - probably the best pasta Ive ever had, vegan or not. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable too and really took the time to explain the menu and wine list to us. Come here!!!
Drew Brady took care of us, he was great and attentive. We did the pasta tasting and it was wonderful, you could tell the pasta was fresh, the dishes were magnificent. We’ll definitely be going again soon.
Interesting place, cheapest glass of wine is $15. Staff all nice
I have been here twice in the last month and it’s safe to say this is my new favorite Overthrow restaurant!!! The food, decor and staff are incredible and I can’t wait to go back. Don’t skip dessert… I’m still day dreaming about the date cake
THE BEST VEGAN RESTAURANT IN NYC!!! Amazing, fresh food. Welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Intimate and chill atmosphere, but still has the essence of fine dining. I am never disappointed when I come here! I am vegan but my boyfriend is not, and we are obsessed with this place. Would recommend the focaccia, gigli, and date cake.
Great ambiance! Wine and cider were fantastic and quite unique. Pastas were a definite miss though. Sauces were devoid of flavor. The tagliatelle was particularly bad; the truffle was okay. Dessert of date cake was mind blowing -- complex flavors, mix of salty, sweet, and spicy. Would come back for drinks and dessert, but definitely skip the pasta.
Such a cute spot! Amazing vegan pasta and a huge selection of wines. Our server Matthias was so kind and enthusiastic! Great sitting at the bar and would definitely recommend!
One of the best vegan restaurants in the city but also one of the best pasta bars, period. Food was amazing, wine list was extensive and delicious, and staff were so friendly and fun. Overall, great vibe. We are making this one of our regular spots and cant wait to go again and again!
Had a couple of dry white wines, absolutely delicious Ravioli and Buccatini pastas. The focaccia and dipping oil it came with were amazing. The Arancini was crispy and delicious as well. Hamatt our waiter was patient and knowledgeable when it came to great pairings with the food. Can’t wait to be back.
Amazing vegan pasta!!! Wine list that is full of wonderful selections for every palette ! The Gnocchi, truffle pasta and ravioli all perfect. Finished with cannolis yummy! Mathias ran the front of Soda Club liked he owned it. So attentive, knowledgeable, funny and gave great service and recommendations even if the pasta were not 10/10 we would return! It’s worth the travel where ever you are in NYC or tristate.
Amazing food and wonderful service. Wouldnt know it was vegan in a blind tasting. Wine selection and quality was great, and staff was very friendly. Hope to be back soon!
Amazing! Dont miss this vegan restaurant. The restaurant is dark and cozy, perfect for a date night. The staff is friendly and attentive. We had ravioli, truffle pasta, herbed ricotta, and arincini. It was all phenomenal. Our favorites were the ricotta, and ravioli!
New local favorite! Staff were engaging and witty. Sat at the bar so received great recommendations. I didn’t see anything on the wine list that caught my fancy, because the only Sauvignon Blanc was priced at $140, which I wasn’t in the mood to spend. But the server reflected on it and was more than happy to serve us a perfectly crisp white that was off the menu, priced right in our range at $66; I thought that was a very nice touch. We had three appetizers and three pastas and each impressed us in their own way; the bucatini had a punch that I am still thinking about! It is SHOCKING that many of these dishes are vegan, which I consider the highest praise. Particularly the “cheese” in the ravioli — we literally had to ask what it was made of, as we couldn’t believe it wasn’t cheese. (Almonds.) So well executed! They were delayed in seating us for our reservation (because the restaurant is TINY) and graciously comped the introductory champagne. They didn’t say anything and just left it off the bill. There is a certain classiness to that subtlety, though I could see some people preferring to be told upfront to de escalate a long wait time.Overall, so happy I live so close to this one as I will return often!
What a great night and a spectacularly great meal! While the place was bustling, even though we arrived early, we were promptly seated by the hostess, briefly asked about allergies and such, and introduced to our waiter offering us menu’s. After giving us what felt like was enough, though comfortably prompt time to browse it, the wine steward introduced himself and asked if we, given what we decided on to eat, had decided on wine. Both of us this evening were intent on a red. They were unfortunately out of my first choice (the Italian Cesanese Del Piglio), though he immediately recommended a wonderful, similar alternative of the same year- a just as complex and delicious Kosmas ‘Kokkineli’ Greek specialty. Perfect! As appetizers we began with a Focaccia side for the table (no one will miss the anchovies in this miso bagna cauda substitute!), both of us decided on the Arugula and Radicchio salad. So tasty! And while she was initially wary of the sweet potato in the mix (until now, she wasn’t exactly a fan), the way they were roasted and served as supportive underlying semi-crisp chips, complimented the dressing and other ingredients brilliantly. For entree’s, she decided on the Ravioli and I the Tagliatelle. We sampled one another’s and both of us agreed, they were clearly among the tastiest we’ve ever encountered. My primary reason for the Tagliatelle was because I love Broccoli Rabe, a key ingredient here. Never have I found it more strategically and inventively used. There’s still that lovely, subtle note of green bitterness present; though combined with the lemon nori butter, capers, and (who’d have thunk it!) celery root, somehow with the pasta it happily tasted like something I never experienced before. Absolutely delicious! For dessert we shared the Date Cake with vanilla ice cream, which was equally exceptional. My only criticism is that I wish the dinning area was better lit. From looking at the dishes when they were served, I could somewhat tell that the care, and the attention to detail that went into the stunning presentation of everything was on par with the taste. I just wish I could’ve had the opportunity to appreciated it more! At this point, as what’s become a holiday tradition, my Vegan friend and I have been sharing a meal before she visits her Mum in Wales for Christmas for some years now. We’ve tried many Manhattan vegan restaurants and while many were great, at least as far as the meal itself was concerned, all more or less had their shortcomings. Not here. Highly recommended!
Poor chef. All alone in the kitchen while it’s getting slammed. No wonder it took an hour and a half to get the single dish we ordered. This is a review to suggest soda club have at least two chefs any night of the week. Food wine and ambiance was good. Just feel bad for the man in the kitchen
-Ravioli - 9.5/10. The chantrelles were probably the best mushrooms Ive ever had in any dish. The ravioli themselves were good but maybe the ricotta inside could have been a tad less dry and thick-Gigli - 10/10
Man is this place good. Somehow we lucked out and got the awesome private dining room. There were three of us so we got the six course pasta tasting with wine. Every dish was delicious. Don’t sleep on the apps too. The arugula salad (how they do that bleu cheese 🤯) and the focaccia with the dipping sauce 🤤. And get the date cake for dessert. It’s outrageous. Wine list is awesome too. Crew are super fun and friendly. Highly recommend
SO enjoyed dinner at Soda Club. The customer service melted me from the warm greeting at the front door, to the attention from a cordial, professional staff. LOVED the food (note, I am not vegan). Its beautifully presented and delicious. Also loved the atmosphere--lovely lamps, flooring, music-not-too-loud. Bravo to the Soda Club!
My favorite wine bar in nyc! i love sitting at the bar; its very small and narrow so perfect for dates or to catch up with a friend. i love the selection of wine and the staff is so friendly!
Really loved our dinner and service at Soda Club. Have lived on Ave B for 25 years and a really great addition to the area . Truly gourmet vegetarian food in a beautiful space .. great wine list and friendly helpful service .Only reason not 5 stars .. a little tight on space .. I would suggest going w a group of 5-6 and sitting in back room . A little cramped at tables and hard for anyone to get by without bumping into you … even for the EV BUT a still loved and will be back . Exceptional .
Soda club is it. Immaculate vibes, wine you’ve never heard of, vegan food like you’ve never tasted. On every occasion I’ve come to SC I’ve felt like a total regular and Mathias is an absolute doll. Wish there were more spots like this in the EV, then again, I’d still only come here. 10/10, 5 stars, A+, flame emoji, etc, etc.
We spontaneously ended up here last night when we were “close enough” to NYC and hungry. I had found it on the Michelin Guide as Bib Gourmand and been interested to try the 6 pasta sampler. We made a reservation on “resy” before coming, as I could not verify if one was required or not and the phone number with an extension seemed odd to me…We were able to try 6 pastas and a bottle of wine for $75 per person. Although we ate everything, it was more than enough food and we had to take the GWB home for fear of squeezing through the tunnels. We were allowed to taste test a few wines of our choice (reds) before deciding on a bottle, and were also allowed to sample the bottle upon opening to once again verify it was our choice. We chose and enjoyed the chilled red. We also got a Pumpkin Pie soda to share out of pure curiosity. It was SO refreshing, light, and delicious. Extremely weird. We loved it.We loved the variety of mushrooms experienced throughout the dishes. Everything was really good. I added some leeks to the lemon pasta dish and it was 🤌🏻. The only thing I would leave out is I think there was some fake Parmesan or something on the spicy pasta. I do not like fake cheese at all and it would’ve been better on the side. I do wish we still had the menu as we were sampling for reference, but we just pulled it up on our phones.Although we were the only people outside and I think it was inconvenient for the staff, we received frequent and very friendly service. My friend is not vegan and enjoyed everything here just as much if not MORE than I did. Unfortunately I was too full to try dessert, but someday I’d like to go back for the date cake.
Go for the pasta tasting. Incredible flavors. Server/bartender was also highly knowledgeable and welcoming. A go to spot.
Ate here last night and everything was amazing! The food, the wine tasting, the service.. omg and the dessert!! Please get the date cake! Literally the best dessert I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to go back!
The food was LIT. Seriously, we murmured to ourselves are we sure this is vegan tho? In particular, Ive never had gnocchi with such an exquisite texture. We also walked in late with a large group. The server made us feel like we had all the time in the world, and went out of his way to make our night special. I wish I would have caught his name. Anyway, the whole experience was lovely, I wish I could give 10 stars.
Was looking for a pre-roll. They had a great selection and the cashier Jesus was a huge help. Great atmosphere
Wow. Soda Club is a GEM and my new favorite spot in Manhattan. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, perfect for date night. The food… where do I start. I’m still dreaming about the ravioli and gnocchi. Both were some of the best dishes I ever had. How is everything vegan?
Excellent fresh plant-based pasta, each dish was a hit. Bummed I couldnt try the mezzalune or ravioli bc they had almond in them. The wine pairing suggested by our server was perfect, also their seasonal soda - carrot cake was shockingly amazing. I could actually taste the different elements - cinnamon, nutmeg, carrot, and vanilla. Will definitely return.
The service here was really really good and so is the ambience but the food unfortunately wasnt. The pasta we ordered was overly chewy and not fully cooked, the cake for dessert was brittle and didnt have the best texture. The only thing I liked on the menu was the appetizer which was bread. I really wanted to like this restaurant as my friends are obsessed with it but it just didnt do it for me from a food perspective.
Unbelievable pasta & wine. Huge selection of natural and organic wines. Perfect pasta portions. They offer a pasta tasting with wine for $75PP. Matthias was very helpful and made our experience amazing. Don’t sleep on the bucatini or the gigli. Focaccia is a must too
What a sexy beautiful restaurant! To say the very least.. they are an extremely accommodating establishment! My friend and I had 5 p.m. reservations. When walking towards the restaurant I noticed a hurt pigeon in the street that could not walk or fly. We raced up to the upper West side, to the Wild Bird Fund. (THEY ARE AMAZING) I called Soda Club to let them know I had an injured Animal that needed immediate attention and that we would be late... They were 100% Fine with it and said no problem. When my friend and I got there at almost 6p... they were warm and gracious! This was our first time dining at Soda Club! Everything and I mean everything was exquisite! I never take pictures because I eat my food too quickly lol The wine, focaccia bread, fig salad, Ravioli, Date cake & the cannoli were OUT OF THIS WORLD! The salad was SO FRESH! The Ravioli is in a class of its own! The cheeze filling melted in your mouth with the lemon sauce... It was pure bliss! The date cake was so unique and absolutely delicious! Cannoli was perfection! Its a dark sultry and seductive establishment serving cruelty free DELICIOUS plant based food! Already making plans to go back :) Thank you Soda Club! See you soon!
This place is a wonderful little spot in the East Village! The aesthetic is beautiful and chill. The staff was helpful; they provided good recommendations for wine and food! The pasta is made in house and is so good! Everything we ordered was delicious. We will come back!
Wow !!! Do not think to skip this place during your staying here in NYC !6 amazing pastas with wine ! The best experience
Welcome to the neighborhood! Awesome selection, nice people and very dog friendly. Gorgeous spot!
Leaving this as I sit here. Haven’t had our pasta yet. It took 15ish minutes to get our first drink order. Asked what paired with the pastas we wanted, got the glass of wine and have even waiting for our pastas. Just asked and he never put them in……….Also was looking foreword to the orange sparkling by the glass on their site and they don’t have it.
Such an amazing vegan place with delicious food and great wine selection!!!!
Vibes were great and service is so friendly! Food is OK. I’ve been to better pasta spots in the east village but certain dishes are very good! (Bucatini & gigli)
This is the kind of place where the food makes you do a little involuntary dance in your bar stool at the first bite. Not just the best vegan Italian I’ve had, but the best meal in recent memory. Focaccia, ravioli, cannoli was the move (paired with some glasses + a few additional—and very generous—tastes of very good wine), and what made it all even more amazing—along with the *very* sexy vibe—was the wonderful service. I had a reservation for one at the bar on a very busy Friday, and everyone who worked there was so kind, so pro and so friendly. I felt very taken care of from start to finish, and as I walked out the door two hours after I came in, I was texting every vegan I know “OMGGGG DUUUUDE SODA CLUB!!” (Truly the highest compliment.) I can’t wait to be back.
This recent addition to the Bib Gourmand list has incredible vegan pasta, fantastic focaccia, and top tier natural wine. I never thought vegan pasta could be this good. The inside is cozy and the outdoor seating has a nice ambiance. The $75/person tasting menu is an excellent deal as the portions are huge. Service isnt perfect, but the servers are friendly and happy to have you try a wine before making your selection.Note, there is a fee for using a credit card to pay.
My husband and I are big fans of several Overthrow restaurants. He recently came to SC with friends and wanted to come back with me. We shared the Pasta Tasting (every one of their 6 pastas, plus a bottle of wine) for $75/pp. we couldn’t finish pasta 5/6. Portions were generous but not overly so. We also started with the arugula salad and it was delish. Stand out pasta for me is hands down the cappelletti, the broth was so good. The Gigli also shined. The bucatini needed to be a bit more Al dente-ish. The bartender picked a fun bottle for us as well. Seemed like they were down a server so service was a bit slow but cordial. Pretty tight space, good for couples, not groups. Dark ambiance, fun music.
This little spot served up some of the best vegan pasta dishes I’ve ever had! I would definitely recommend the focaccia, ravioli, and gigli! The orange wines were also so delicious. If you’re ever in the LES, be sure to stop by! The ambiance and service is impeccable!
Food portions are very small. The ravioli and focaccia were really good, the tagliatelle was not so good. The staff was nice and the ambiance was the best part.
Great service. Tasty food (plant-based and so good youd never know). Nice atmosphere too. I recommend the place for a quiet date or meeting up with a few friends.
Incredible food and ambiance! The wine selection is fantastic and while no one in our party of 4 are vegan, we all agreed this one one of the best meals we’d had in days. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The flavors were balanced and rich. Next time we’ll do the pasta flight with a bottle of wine!
Delicious food, small restaurant and not great service
Great vibe, cozy and intimate. Our servers were super friendly and patient, answering our questions about the pastas and wine. The food was overall good, with 3 hits and 2 misses. My favorite was the gigli, and I definitely wouldnt ever get the bucatini or the cappelletti again. The bucatini was too dry and the cappelletti felt like overpriced wonton soup to me.The gigli was so good I could probably eat a mixing bowl full of it. The gnocci was tasty as well, just much more filling. The watercress salad had these cheese chunks that were so good I forgot I was at a vegan establishment.Would def come again for wine and pasta!
I went with two friends, we got three pastas, wine, a desert, and appetizers. It is very affordable, but that doesnt mean youre losing out on taste or service. We the peach and watermelon salad which is probably just a summer thing but it was amazing. The tagliatelle and the gigli were my favorite pastas, but we had the ravioli too, which was fab. If you have a friend who is new to veganism or thinking about it, Id recommend bringing them here because a) you cannot tell its vegan and b) it really showcases what you can do with plant based food.
Food was good and well presented. The arancini are perfectly delicious. Niggles are the size of portions and the quality of the pasta. The tagliatelle were not that silky soft you would expect and were pasty and firm. The taste was there although there was broccolini that was not mentioned on the menu. We were three people and one of us was served our pasta dish 15 minutes before the rest of the party was served. The Castelvetrano olives are chopped and put into a palm size shallow dish - again very small portion. Great decor and vibe. Friendly staff. Hopefully just teething pains as this is a relatively new place.
Absolutely phenomenal! Best vegan food in town, such friendly service. All around an excellent experience.
Delicious pasta. Excellent service and atmosphere. Reason my priced. Recommend ordering double what you think. Dishes are quite small (but very tasty)
Amazingly creative and delicious hand made pasta with truffles , chanterelle mushrooms . The best pasta I’ve had and the one of the best dinners in NYC. Delicious natural wines . A must ! Beautiful setting ! Friendly staff .
Incredible vegan food and a beautiful atmosphere. I only wish that the lights were brighter so we could have taken it all in visually. The buccatini is delicious and the gnocchi are a particular highlight.
Delicious vegan Ravioli in the heart of East Village with a moody date night ambience , food portions would be better for the price paid , we ordered another pasta cappelletti which tasted like it had some mud ,maybe the kitchen needs to do a proper cleansing of the ingredients .
The ravioli dish I had was amazing! Aside from the lack of meat, there was nothing to tip-off an ominvore. None of the usual vegan compromises or substitute ingredients here; just quality ingredients, outstanding fresh pasta, and a killer sauce.
Top, top spots. Incredible vegan Italian food, the small plates and the mains. Knowledgeable staff, relaxed yet attentive service.
Great selection of wine but a little pricey. Incredibly good vegan pasta. Vibes were a little off. Too crowded. And I might be a little too old for it.
Delicious and great service
A truly fantastic addition to the Overthrow Hospitality family. The wine list is exhaustive, the food is sublime, and the owner and staff truly make this place a triumph. Fantastic food, a glass of vino, and an absolute must in LES.
Great place, delicious food.
My go to pasta place, not fist for vegans
I really liked this place. Good food and nice wine. I’d be a regular here if I lived in Nee York.
A wonderful wine bar in Alphabet City that offers interesting, unique wines and vegan pasta dishes. The staff know their menu and provide on-point recommendations. A must try.
Amazing food and great wine!
Omfg! The best wine and pasta I have had EVER! We had the gnocchi, which is unlike anything else I have ever had. Cant wait to return!
Lovely vibe & great wine. The chef gave us fresh baked bread with miso paste. Never had something like that and it was delicious.
Soda Club is the like the Metrograph/Film Forum, but for wine lovers. They have the classics, the niche genres, the underground hits, and the wacky ones they play at Spectacle & Anthology Archive. This is all to say that Soda Club is the rare wine bar that’s impossible to walk away from without a truly unique experience, every time.
2 stars, entirely due to the vibe, food was unfortunately shocking (we had a 6 course taster meal)
Amazing is an understatement. Did the tasting menu + date cake and loved every single dish. Great staff & service also 🙌🏽
A extremely pleasant surprise, haven’t had pasta this good in years… I’d be shocked if Soda Club isn’t awarded at least one Michelin star. Great service. Great pasta. Great Wine. My soul cried.
Great wine selection and the food is all vegan. Perfect spot to grab a drink or two with friends.
The food was incredible. Everything we ate was amazing. The server offered us to taste some wines which was so nice because then we could order a glass of something we really liked. Did I mention the food was incredible? Nice ambience too. Will definitely go again next time I’m in NYC.
The staff was super helpful and the atmosphere was great. The pasta tasting was not only a great deal but an unbelievable experience.
Officially my new favorite restaurant. Everything is divine I can’t believe I just discovered that place while it’s been here for a few years now.
Absolutely love this gem of a place! The food is always amazing, the wines are delicious and the service is great. Last time we got to try this amazing Bichi wine! It doesn’t disappoint!!
Hands down the best Vegan place on the lower east side. Watercress salad and truffle pasta was amazing!
We had such a fun evening here. Nice atmosphere and delicious food. Everything is vegan!!!!
Great selection of wine. Also all vegan menu, including “nduja”. Great neighborhood spot
Love soda club. My favorite pasta spot in the east village and awesome wine as well
I was little thrown as to why my dining room reso wasn’t honored and I was sat at the bar, but I’m glad because the bartender made my experience here amazing! Sit at the bar!!! The food is great, small portions but I’m def coming here for the wine selection over the food. Ambience and service are great
Beautiful place, amazing food and cool drinks!
A casual unassuming place with ok food - tired 6 dishes, all but one were just ok, and only the ravioli were great.
Visited here March 23rd evening during a visit to NYC that weekend from Virginia on quick vacation from the sanctuary. Not only was the pasta multi course dinner one of the finest meals Ive enjoyed, the customer service, attention to detail and caring professional staff makes this the best vegan restaurant Ive ever enjoyed. Afterwards when I ordered the incredible cannoli for dessert and asked for a cup of coffee to pair it with, I was politely apologized to as coffee wasnt a menu option and something they offer or have. Moments later with the amazing dessert arriving at the table I was handed a cup of coffee with a kind message written on the cup that was purchased by the staff at a shop down the street. Mind blown. Thank you Soda Club for creating a special memory and dining experience.
Excellent, attentive service. Nice selectiom of wines and eager to please with offers of tastings. Pastas were nice with good chewy textures. Homemade? Seating seems limited and initially way too dark when eating at the bar. Couldnt see the beautiful food!!
10/10 vibes
Great pasta. Tasting course is extra filling, don’t get any appetizers on top of it.
Best Gnocchi Ive ever had and the bartenders were super friendly!
Best pasta in town!!! Definitely worth the visit. Highly recommended!
Amazing food, awesome wine list… we had every pasta and each was our “favorite”
Amazing ambiance, delicious dishes with a modern Italian inspired vibe and overall just an exceptional place.
A cute and cozy spots to get drinks!
Focaccia was delicious—soft and warm. Arancini were served hot with a crispy outside crust. All pasta dishes were well-executed and bursting with flavors.Highly recommend to all diners: Vegan and non-vegan alike.Large wine selection—waiter had great recommendations!
I had the cappelletti, which was sublime, and the wine Matthias recommended (the Bodegas Chacra Sin Azufre Pinot Noir) was a fabulous pairing. Highly recommended
The food is amazing, and the staff is very knowledgeable on wine pairing.
Great food and ambiance - good natural wine list
So unfortunately for me, I hat truffles and numerous of the pasta tastings had truffle. But I won’t let that retract from my rating because the other ones were very tasty and my dining companion was a big fan of the truffle pastas too
This is the best vegan restaurant in NYC. No doubt. Get the Ravioli.
Everything was so delicious and the service was great. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner!
This is some of the best pasta in NYC. It’s a beautiful restaurant, with great service and a great vibe. All of the food is plant based and delicious. Definitely worth a visit.
Wonderful atmosphere, great staff, and the best food youll eat in the area. Highly recommended.
Strange that I usually round total + tip to a whole number but I was charged extra, it isn’t about the extra 17 cent charge but the principle
Excellent food and service, even on a busy day.
After a great night out in NYC we wanted to finish off with a bottle of wine. Based on the reviews we chose the Soda Club. We had to wait forever to be served even though it wasnt very busy. The first waiter didnt know the wines on the menu. Then came a rather unfriendly and arrogant waiter. We wanted a classic French rose. He recommended a very good Greek wine, which we chose. After 5 minutes he came back and told us that he no longer had it and wanted to sell us an orange wine. However, we had made it clear from the start that we did not want this type of wine and grape varieties. We declined, recalling the French rose. Then he came back and brought a rose, but unfortunately from Sardinia without saying a word that it wasnt the chosen wine. It had tasted the others so we made no fuss and just asked for the bottle to be put on ice as it was very warm. We had never seen him again, nor the ice. For a wine bar, you should know menu and the wines and be given competent advice. His answer was only I am of full surprises. Shame on you. Normally we would have ordered more bottles, so we left annoyed. We come from a top wine region in Germany and all grew up with wine. Just a disappointment. The menu and wines are well advertised but then not available and the people who worked that night have no sense of their customers. I hope the Boss will take care and train them better for future. It could have been such a nice ending.
Great food / seems like good wine selection . Very lively place. I went with non vegan friend and she loved it
Intimate setting without being uninviting. I would bring my mother, my BFF, or a hot date here. Its perfect for many occasions where you need great food and great wine to pair with a special night out. Pasta is all made in-house and delicious. I love that they show so much range from light to heavy, to stick to your ribs, dishes.
Incredible vegan pasta, especially the gigli!!
Incredible food and brilliant hospitality. My partner and I had the 6 course pasta tasting and it was delicious, completely faultless! The wine was brilliant and the staff were so knowledgeable about their wines. They gave us a mini wine tasting for their orange wine.Highly highly recommend!
Must go for pasta lovers! All pastas r potentia signitures. Olce oil and doccacia feels u home
Great vegan pasta! I love the pesto gnocchi, the sauce was amazing! The date cake was delicious and not too sweet. The focaccia is a must-have (amazing spread).I didnt like how I asked for a $16 wine on the menu and got a different one instead until I saw the bill (it was $18) and the server didnt tell me about the price increase :(Besides that they were very friendly and attentive but please be transparent with me.
The food here was incredibly delicious. And their homemade soda was fantastic as well! Super cute vibe! I would definitely come again whenever I’m in the area. Great spot in Alphabet city!
Absolutely phenomenal. Cozy ambiance and friendly KNOWLEDGEABLE service. Wonderful wine selection. We never felt rushed. Everything tasted incredible - cannot wait to come back.
Fantastic food / lovely ambience /mediocre service (i.e. asking if we want dessert before dinner is finished). Great to have such tasty vegan food. Small portions for sure, i.e. $6 focaccia included a few extremely thin slices, so that’s not a great start.
Amazing food, really good wine and fantastic service. Such a cool vibe too. We love beer this place and always go. We love it. Focaccia is super dank.
The starters were great, the pastas lacked flavor. I guess pretty good for vegan but not comparable to regular pasta.
Everyone raves about the ravioli on here but the salads were the real star of the show.Decent glass of red to go with it and lovely calm atmosphere with tasteful lighting.
Incredibleee
We went in thinking highly of the place, were welcomed well and made ourselves comfortable. We took the pasta for 2, and were served undercooked pasta no.4. We politely informed the server and in exchange we were offered a starter that we had already eaten once, so politely declined. Subsequently, the server started not paying attention to us, we were served undercooked pasta no.5, and waited 30 minutes for pasta no. 6 which we just got packed and left. We were offered a simple one word apology once, and not offered any compensation. It was disappointing how the night ended.
Love this place! As a health fanatic, I greatly appreciated the natural/organic wines. And the vibe was great.
Have had 2 outstanding meals at this place. The staff is always incredibly accommodating and the wine selection is top notch.
Beautiful East Village wine bar with well-selected and interesting wines. Matthias was highly knowledgeable about wine and super helpful. Really enjoyed the wine and food (the gnocchi was delicious!) and plan to return soon! Highly recommended.
Great service and wine, loved the decor and atmosphere. Food is limited but was good. Great date night spot or a place to meet up with friends
The food is great!!! Everything is fresh and the desert is to die for. FYI: the wine is also vegan. I will definitely return.
Great ambiance and vibes! The wine selection was excellent and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the arancini!
Amazing vegan pasta dishes and so many choices of great wine. Service is fantastic.
Favorite Place
Delicious food and amazing service.
Loved the food and service !Cozy , friendly and fun, we will for sure return .Mathias ,the bar tender , was wonderful , knowledgeable and made us feel like family .Micheal surprised us with drinks for my wife’s weekend birthday celebrations : thank you guys !We had lovely time by the bar , so much so that we stayed till closing (:
Every one of Ravi DeRossis restaurants are amazing. But soda club takes it to the next level. You cant believe pasta can be this good. Never mind vegan.
Had the most delicious wine and tagliatelle in recent memory. Highly recommend a visit - Sean the bartender is also 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Great vibes, Great food.
Delicious food, friendly and attentive staff and great ambiance. I’d definitely come back soon!
4/8/22 first time here: ordered the gnocchi and also ravioli…both are great but the ravioli is my favorite 👍👍I’m looking forward to trying the other pasta dishes next time
Been multiple times and will continue to go! FOOD IS UNBELIEVABLE!! Gnocchi is a must and Sean is the best!!
Great selection of natural wines. Service was excellent. Please get their date cake- so good!
Delicious pastas, great for vegetarians and vegans. I only wish the portion sizes were a bit bigger!
Great food, staff, ambiance, wine, music. A foodie paradise
Completely vegan, from the food to the decor, and so so delicious. The gnocchi and ravioli were to die for. They have fun wine selections too, like a sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and a vermouth-like orange wine from Toledo, Spain. Highly recommended for small groups or individuals.
Cute and good drinks/service, just too cramped
Perfect vegan spot. Short menu with amazing options. Great date night!
LOVE AT FIRST BITE 😍
BEST! VEGAN! PASTA! EVER! New absolute favorite spot.
Great food, fun drinks, really thoughtful servers.
Wonderful experience. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Great vegan food
Best vegan dinner Ive had in years and the staff are so friendly!
We were on track for a a 5-star evening at Soda Club - great wine, great ambience, great service – and then we ordered food, the gnocco fritto, the tagliatelle, and the ravioli. While all delicious, the price to portion ratio was quite a surprise and disappointment. Two ravioli for $18 sums up the food menu. Plan on 3-5 mains to make a regular full-portion meal.Well be back for wine and a snack. But these are expensive (and tasty) tapa-sized, pastas, nothing more. Had we known, we would have planned on eating dinner elsewhere, after an aperitivo at Soda Club.
Amazing vibe and great vine selection
Pasta and date cake was fantastic!
Great selection of natural wine and delicious food. Couldn’t believe it was all vegan (??) but each dish was better than the next. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, recommend reserving the private back room (surfboard shaped marble table) for your party of up to 6!Food recs: pasta (Gigli & pesto gnocchi), the ravioli had a raw egg-yolk-like-center (which incredibly wasn’t egg because, vegan), endive salad with vegan blue cheese, AND definitely get the focaccia with bagna cauda - to die for.Overall couldn’t recommend the vibe, food, drinks, and staff enough. Will definitely be coming back time and time again!
Amazing wine, amazing food, amazing service.Lovely staff and ambiance.
Good wine, great service, loved the fact that it was vegan.
A MUST! Get one of everything. The space and the people are lovely as well.
