The dining ambiance at Sant Ambroeus is elegant & charming, with a good noise level that allows for easy conversation. The pasta dishes were a bit hit-or-miss: the Cacio e Pepe was satisfyingly rich and cheesy, while the Linguine al Mare tasted light in flavor and somewhat underwhelming. The Ricotta Cheesecake was a delightful surprise to end the meal, with warm spices and a flavor reminiscent of pumpkin pie.
I love the place ambiance, deco, staff, wine carte. I was not much impressed with the food. I ordered a pasta con vongole that was not rich in taste, the vitello with tuna lacked flavors and salad seasoning did not soak the salad beautiful veggies. We were very well welcomed, and the host took very good care of us.
We sat in one of the “wooden sheds” on the sidewalk. At the beginning it took some time until we could order, the service seemed a bit slow. However, this improved during our stay. Very friendly and professional staff. The food (every single dish, from starters to main courses) was excellent. The portions however, were quite small for the price (even from a European perspective). Our conclusion: At Cipriani the service is faster, the food selection is better, the prices are a little “cheaper” and everything is as tasty (or better) than here
This is one of my favorite places in Manhattan. Being from the same city where this Pasticceria was founded, it’s a way for me to find the pleasure of high quality, authentic, well crafted treats from Milano. The atmosphere is great, and the restaurant inspired by the classic Milano design. It’s pricey, but worth trying.
This was a cute little place that we stumbled upon on our way home from shopping in Soho. Nice little place to stop for gelato, sit and people watch for a bit. The gelato was good, but the service friendly as well. Would want to go back and try other stuff on their menu.
I only took a picture of the desserts but all food and cocktails were delicious. Very nice atmosphere for brunch, outstanding service, and an amazing host! 💯 5 stars for sure. I’ll be back, will check it out for dinner next time!
Amazing food and drinks! Love the vibe here!
Delicious food and service. I cannot wait to come back. I wish I knew the hosts name, he was wonderful.
A New York moment! Never leave New York without experiencing this place. The best service, the best food, the best coffee and pastries. No place can match the ambience!
I really liked the food and the staff was great! The tables are just kind of small and the chairs a little too high for us but I will definitely come back
Friendly and handsome staff, but the girl in the front (hostess?) was weird. She met us, asked how were we, and continued to stand still. It was uncomfortable and funny. After the minute of silence we asked for a table for two.Entrees were really good, but serving is so simple and boring, looks like my grandmother did it.But dessert was fantastically delicious!Prices are medium. Not touristic place, but crowded.Design of this place is full of dissapiontment. Outside it looks like typical cafe. Old style is not comfortable and pretty. Seating on the dirty, lumpy, crannied couch was inconvenient . Plastic flowers? With such prices its should not be a problem to put natural flowers or even in pots.
Food is good, not that good. The hottest very nice, the rest of service staff very rude and unhelpfulI will not come again and definitely not recommend it to my friendsI wish i got the names of the rude peopleDon’t go there the good food not worth it to have you day ruined but the unpleasant staff behaviorThe especially rude guy that proceeded our payment just if the managers see this
Absolutely magical as always. So lovely to be able to have a more quiet place to have a romantic date night.
Came for a weekday lunch, and the restaurant was busy, but not too busy. Had the artichoke arugula salad and the Bolognese, but very delicious. The unlimited bread was a nice addition, which I did not receive in another Sant Ambroeus location.
Incredible food and service. Ate in for dinner on a Saturday. Wonderful branzino, tonnarelli cacio e pepe. Great coffee and wine too. Highly recommend.
I had a lovely solo lunch here today. Hosts/managers were very welcoming and attentive, great service, fettuccine bolognese was terrific. Great spot.
Me and my husband are both severely sick after yesterday dinner there. I It was one of my favorite places.
This place is awesome, Wonderful atmosphere and a gorgeous bar. They produce their own prosecco and it is wonderful. I would love to have dinner here at some point. Also authentic Italian approved.
I was very happy to find place outside because the location is very good. Tiramisu and iced latte were delicious and very fresh. The best spot in the city. You should try it as soon as possible, you will never regret it.10/10
I have been going to all St Ambroeus in Nyc and in 20 years never been disappointed, but Lafayette St Ambroeus as been my favorite for his ambiance and great hospitality but if you like a perfect balance between sophisticated and elegant. It is definitely for youBonne chance
A very cute and cozy place to have a nice cup of coffee, fresh pressed juice, or tea. The breakfast options are great. Staff are so kind and helpful too.
This was the most mediocre meal we had in New York City! To my disappointment, one of the shrimps wasnt deveined. We came for the dinner service and all of the shrimps were rubbery. There was too much garlic as well. The sauce was good, we actually liked the bread served with the marinara sauce. However, the drink had just too much grapefruit and was way too sour, so much that I and my husband both of us combined couldnt take three sips down the throat. Our server was great and explained everything well. The food and the drink just didnt deliver to the expectations!
GABI. Shes the bartender that makes all the difference at Sant Ambroeus. Shes found me and a companion a seat at the bar on many a weekend and weve chatted, dined and drank for hours and hours (think 2pm-8pm). Gabi makes a great cocktail, is effortlessly fabulous and engaging, and she has made my experience flawless and fantastic every time. Im headed back for lunch with a friend visiting from Milan today. I am hoping that even though we have a table booked, we get to sit at the bar and that Gabi is working. I love this place, its chic and great people watching (aside from the random, entitled suburbanite that tries to muscle their entitled a** everywhere they can like its a massive space on the Island or in Jersey). The milanese is out of this world. Highly recommend.
EXCELLENT dinner - food was great and our server was exceptional. We ordered the prosciutto with buratta and the salmon. All delicious. Also very good cocktails. And what I especially liked was that the noise level was such that we could easily have a conversation without shouting. Note: we had an early dinner, that may change later at night.
Had a beautiful amazing breakfast at SA soho , Irina was so gracious and lovely for accommodating us as walk in without a wait . The place is cozy and beautiful , the attention to detail is great! Avocado toast was tasty and the coffee was perfection! Will be back
I love this place - perhaps my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. The food is exquisite, the service and the environment very welcoming and cozy. I noticed great attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant from food to decoration to service to even the little details such as providing warm blankets for the ones sitting out and THE CUTEST pink umbrellas for the rain - they were even so kind they gave me one hahaLove Sant Ambroeus, I keep taking my friends there!
Food was great! And so were the drinks! So close to all the shops in soho and we were able to sit outside because we had our dog! The host though was not pleasant. I asked if he had an outside table for 2. He says “no” and that’s it. So I was standing there and waited…*awkward pause*… and asked him “well so how long is the wait?” And he said 30 min, which I said that was fine. 4 minutes pass by and the waiter takes us to sit down lol!!! I’ve noticed in NYC it’s never that much wait for 2 people. So weird. But anyway, besides the host, all the waiters, food and drinks, everything else was great! I had the BLT, wifey had the French toast, and I forgot the names of the drinks but one had watermelon the other pineapple. Delish.
Three stars for the decent food and two stars for the table space . However like a lot of the comments mentioned, the service is rude and extremely outrageous for the busboy who picked up our check. He’s extremely aggressive almost to a point he’s screaming at us. Ignorant as well, kept saying we didn’t both sign our checks, which we did. Plus called us out ‘just look and read’ as if easy Asian heritage automatically means doesn’t understand English. Stormed away when we politely pointed out that we signed BOTH of our checks, looking extremely upset with zero apologies - the aggression continued with body language. Such a shame for the beautiful location and consistent quality of the food. Have the potential to be a 4-5 star places if the service members were trained more properly.
Super warm and friendly staff. Theres nothing like going to an establishment and being greeted by everyone. Its a great place to go for brunch or dinner with your girls OR on a date. Portions were great. This is actually a place where youd leave pleasantly full. Theres a great wine selection to accompany everything on the menu. Both the food AND the staff gets 5 ☆! Ill definitely be going back.
The steak was the perfect temp, her pasta was nice and my fish was delicious. She adored the birthday surprise pink cake and the hazelnut layered dessert was outstanding. Worth every penny.
Desserts were very nice
This cafe was cute and cozy, nice for a quick meet up stop with my friends. It can feel a bit tight inside as there is not much room. But coffee was nice, as well as the pastries. Again good for a quick coffee break.
Have been coming here for many years. The staff is always impeccably friendly, warm, and, well, perfect! This place is quiet, the decor is hard to describe- sophisticated but cheery. Its a haven from the urban noise and funk. The food parallels the ambience - fresh and perfectly prepared. Had the omelette and almond cornetto during my most recent visit, even the French would be impressed.
You aren’t coming here for food, you are coming to sit on the patio and people watch. For that it’s great and at a perfect spot.
Sant Ambroeus LafayetteThe food was delicious! Service excellent!Special THANK YOU to Hostess Lucia and Manager Michael for accommodating our party of five. Much appreciated!
Incredibly unhelpful upon arrival, asked for a table for dessert at 4:30pm and even though there were multiple tables free we were told only the bar would be possible. The bar had 3 individual seats available (none next to each other) and the manager made no effort to accommodate us or ask other guests to move over one seat. Given the attitude I would not spend any money at this establishment
Was a pleasant surprise to walk in here and enjoy the top notch omelet and latte. Moreover the atmosphere and service was beautiful!
I just got a coffee, but it was one of the best coffee drinks I’ve ever had. The bartender was so kind and cool.
What can I say about St Ambroeus Lafayette,If you live to be taken care of and love fresh pasta prepared properly this is the place. Simple menu, paninis for a casual bite. Cafe next door to the dinning room for a sweet snack or a caffeine pick me up.Love all the properties of Santa Ambroeus, they all have their own personality but all know hospitality.Last but not least is the Princess Cake if you remember to save a little room .It has the moisture and sweetness of a tree leches but with a twist a almond fondant icing that reminds me of Italian holiday treats from when I was a child in Brooklyn.
Pretty great experience here, the hostess and waiters were all brilliant and very friendly. Great atmosphere too. This place is notoriously expensive but overall a nice experience.
Beautiful restaurant with delectable food and drinks. Welcoming atmosphere with friendly and helpful personal.
Had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I frequent this location (always with a reservation), but after this last experience (no reservation) I won’t return. I came in and asked for a table i doors. I was told it would be a few minutes so I decided to wait. Two Caucasian ladies with a dog came in after me and no reservation. They asked for an outdoor table. After some time they started speaking with the hostess about the dog and a few minutes later she told them she actually had a table she could give them indoors. After she returned from walking them over, I asked why they were seated before me when I had been waiting. She said they had a reservation. I told her I overheard them when they came in and they did not have a reservation. She then said oh their reservation had been cancelled. Another lie. A man came over who may have been a manager and he said they had a reservation. He made that up because he wasn’t even at the hostess post and was unaware of who I was speaking about. He continued with saying there were no tables available for me. I guess the hostess must have felt she was wrong for what she did and found a table to offer me. Also as a mention, I love dogs and have two of my own, but I would never bring them inside a dining establishment unless I’m seated outdoors. I believe in NYS dogs are not allowed indoors at a restaurant, let alone allowed up onto the seating and able to lick the table.
I ordered a burger for $35 and they served it with chips. A complete joke. The burger was pretty mediocre too. Total trap, will never return.
Love the service, food and general atmosphere, maybe the best pasta I have had in New York
The food was amazing…but the service was awful we sat there for 15 minutes with no coming up to us then finally a man comes and we order drinks he then he proceeds to be very rude and another 20 minutes goes by and he finally comes to take our order he acts completely annoyed then brings our bread and basically throws the olive oil on the table if I could give the service no stars I would…. normally I always too 22% but the waiter was so rude and dismissive
Amazing and delicious gelato! Fun music vibe and super friendly staff. 🍨🤍
Way too expensive. $37 for mid burrata. $34 for a hamburger that tasted like a friends bbq hamburger with stale buns. Will not go back.
Beautiful interior, great food and usually impeccable service. Love coming here for a late lunch when it’s quiet.
Interior is beautiful and the staff treats you as they would in Europe. The food is amazing and the cocktails are divine - get the Naviglio Spritz!
Great little spot, easy access with good seating inside and out. Attentive staff, delicious pasta..
I came in on a whim to celebrate my birthday and had a really fun time at the bar. The bar is small but if you can snag a seat, perfect spot for a solo date! Love Gabby, the bartender that day. Food was great and they surprised me with a slice of their delicious cake ! :)
A nice place with extremely attentive staff and a great atmosphere. The food and drinks were good. The one issue was that staff stood very close to the tables chatting quite loudly, which made for a less relaxing experience.Note that there are two places here, one is a restaurant (the one to the south) whereas the other is a bakery.
Always great food. Weve never had a bad meal here.Lose 1 start on atmosphere because the seat at the front opposite the wall behind the hostess was a bit hot. We believe it is due to the hot water pipe running up the corner.
Really well done! Specially Roger (Assistant General Manager) went above and beyond. I wanted to make a surprise for my partner and he helped me to make this happening. She was surprised and happy and all this thanks to everyone who worked there. Food, service, location and the surprise was priceless! Thank you again!
Amaaazing waiters and the food and drinks were all SOOO good. Loved it !!
Insanely expensive to have breakfast. The great coffee ups the one star rating to two.Staff: you have asked eight (8!) times during the course of a single breakfast if we want to have water. How hard is it to accept a no?The place does look stunning. Greatly situated in NYC.
Great little place. Just happened upon it while walking around and was able to be seated right away, but was still fairly busy. Service was great, very friendly and attentive. And the food was even better!
Nice restaurant in a beautiful neighborhood, the food is good and the menu is rich and varied. The atmosphere is a bit snob but still comfortable, lenticchie were very good
28$ for this caprese saladShame on this restaurant !!
Really memorable service, amazing hospitality. The lentil salad was seasoned perfectly
Great lunch, staff was great.
Very charming atmosphere inside and out. We had white wine and prosecco and it was very smooth and refreshing. Pasta was fantastic. Everything from the menu was delicious. The bread they served was warm and crunchy paired up with sweet and tangy balsamic sauce and robust olive oil. Yum! Dont leave without having desert! From hazelnut cake and tiramisu to Italian biscotti, everything was delicious. Our server Luna was amazing! Very professional and fun. She made phenomenal drinks. She was great. On top of that, the management was super sweet. This spot is a must if u want a romantic atmosphere, fantastic service and delicious food.
Very delicious ice cream!!
The service was mediocre, but the lamb chops were some of the best Ive ever had. The balance of the dishes my wife and I ordered were fair. Nothing to get excited about. They have booths on the sidewalk that are separated by plexiglass to ensure everyone is physically distanced. This is a nice spot to go for a casual meal with friends or family, but I would not say it is one of the upper echelon restaurants in Manhattan. If you are looking for a decent Italian meal and not looking for anything special than this place is for you.
Terrible customer service at Sant Ambroeus Cafe - Lafayette today. The lady manager was very unpolite and dishonnest. On the other hand, the service is always really good at the Sant Ambroeus restaurant just next door.
Fantastic every time! The quality of the food is the best and the staff so very kind. We love it there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus the interior is super stylish and comfortable. Nice to sit outside too! Well the above was written a while back and all the lovely staff in the front have been replaced with miserable staff who refused to allow us to sit in a corner as she said for 3 and then proceeded to allow 2 other couples to sit there! Just horrible.
I hate to write this because the host was so kind and the service was excellent- maybe better than any other location. However I have to say I was thoroughly saddened and disappointed by the food. Received our meal very very quickly which was a bit of a red flag. I got pancakes and it was essentially one big overcooked cake that seemed like it came out a pack of 10 and was put on the grill. Very stale and completely tasteless. My friend got an omelette that was soggy/ wet and over cooked. We were hoping for a nice indulgent brunch to celebrate something but were met with a continental breakfast with a high price tag. If you’re looking to treat yourself to a nice brunch , I would tread carefully….maybe lunch or dinner is better but beware of anything on brunch or breakfast menu… :(
I come to this location here and there. My friend was in town so she wanted to eat here and I always jump at the opportunity to get the princess cake. I left this review because I was honestly shocked at the service I received. I came with a baby, and was told there was no room for a stroller to leave at the front (despite being seated in a private cabin that could barely fit the stroller) also, restaurants usually ask you if you want them to keep the stroller while you dine and I wasn’t asked. Oh well, moving on. When I initially asked, the man at the front said sorry you can’t there’s no more room, but you can leave it in front: as in right in front of the front door. I didn’t mind as much until at the end of my meal I went to the bathroom and there was a stroller behind his counter that wasn’t there before. I didn’t say anything just noted it because I thought it was weird for him to tell me no but take somebody else’s. I look young so I understand maybe he felt as if I didn’t deserve the same respect as others but it was genuinely odd and I was being very polite. I live in the area and I never receive such nonchalant service. That was one thing. Secondly, I was asked if I wanted tap or sparkling, asked for sparkling and never received it. When the rest of my party came, we ordered and got our food before they were even given water and we had to ask for water glasses and water for them. Nobody came to check on us and I asked for Parmesan for my pasta on 3 different occasions before it was brought. We didn’t know who our server was because it was a different person each time and we frequently had to leave the cabin to ask for help or ask for things. It was just so weird because my company visiting actually commented on how bad the service was, and asked if it was normally this way to which I said no I could not remember the service being bad from the times I have been. I was just so disappointed and felt I wasn’t being treated with respect or even common decency, frequently ignored and almost begging them to do the most basic things. It was actually jarring. Won’t be coming back here despite their fabulous princess cake that I always get despite it being $18 a slice lol. Not going to basically be told “F you” when I spend my money here frequently.
Vincent and all staff were excellent! Food and decor were very very good.
This place is A JOKE!! We both ordered Linguine alle vongole and it was very salty… like seriously I’ve never return food back to the kitchen before in my entire life but to pay for $34 to eat this. It’s not ok.We decided try another dish, so we both ordered Pennette allArrabbiata AND penne pasta was undercooked. It taste like a raw flour. I just can’t stay any longer. This is ridiculous. We DONE WITH YOU!!!PS. The server is nice enough to understand the situation so we tipped her 20% but we won’t come back.
Very nice! Went for late lunch the food was great!
Arguably the most authentic Italian food in NYC - each dish was excellent, the service was great, and the outdoor cabin was lively and intimate. The Gianduja (dessert) was delicious and won our hearts. The only challenge was with the Branzino. The plating was fascinating but had to be eaten carefully because of the fish bones that were also present.
Delicious brunch! I loved the eggs Benedict.
Service was good. But a bit pretentious, overpriced, and the food not very good (perhaps we didnt order right) - not my type of my spot. The highlight of my meal was how quickly my water cup got filled and the complementary bread at the beginning. The panini bread was rock hard and sandwich overall was dry. Probably should have ordered the pasta. There are so many better places to eat in the area Im honestly upset at myself for choosing to eat here.
I came here on a trusted recommendation. I still trust the person, but I found the experience a little disappointing. The espresso was less than excellent for the price (not juicy or rich). The service was also underwhelming. I felt like a curiosity to the staff rather than a welcome guest. I might try them again, but not anytime soon.
I went here this past weekend with friends and lve been angry about it since. The drinks were really good but when my food arrived I was turned off. I ordered the Filet Mignon Battuta. I assumed it was a steak, so when I ordered it l asked for it rare. Our server said ok and then put in our order. When my plate arrived I thought I was hallucinating. Then I hear our same server talking to the table behind me and they also order it but asked for it medium rare. She goes oh no its minced meat pounded thin. Excuse me. OHHH so thats why I have a thin flat ground beef patty on a plate and not an actual filet mignon. Why didnt she explain it when I ordered it rare? If it came out rare it would have literally been beef carpaccio. Also the potatoes on the side were undercooked. Like why do you hate me?? I was so put off, not to mention we were sitting outside and the heaters were roasting us as if we were rotisserie chickens and only were turned off as it got colder. I hated everything about this experience. Also why did she explain to the table behind me what that dish actually was and not me?Do you just hate me? Do you not care if I live or die?Terrible. The dish wasnt even good. No flavor, overcooked beef patty.
Sunday morning and no reservation we attempted and succeeded roto Theo downtown eatery. Fantastic hostess and wait staff made breakfast seamless. Light fare of well cooked soft boiled eggs, bacon and coffee. Hustle bustle in a gorgeous decor!!
I was enjoying my cake until I found a hair in it :(
Bustling corner spot, with an upscale yet casual feel. Food was delicious and service staff were professional. Mix of indoor and outdoor seating, excellent for people watching. Recommend trying out the honey ricotta!
They always take good care of clientele and service is impecable
Love everything about this placeBest serviceTasty foodBeautiful interiorGreat outdoor patio
I do not recommend this place. There was one server serving everyone. A handful of managers just walking around not doing much. It took forever for someone to take your order, but we had our water glasses filled almost after every sip. I did not get what was going on. Plenty of staff, poor delegation.Food is whatever. This restaurant actually turned me off from pasta aglio e olio for the rest of my life. The burrata cheese, don’t even get me started on that. The dish was so bland, bitter and almost inedible.Cocktails were good. Not much else to say. Don’t come here for the food or service. Come for the vibe, I guess.
Nice quiet little cafe with good drinks. The staff members were very kind and helped us set up a table for my larger group. We didn’t intend to stop here, but I’m glad we did.
Nice breakfast options. An European atmosphere. Friendly and serviceable staff.
10/10
Good downtown outpost of this chain. Food quality may be slipping with expansion however.
The food was pretty bland. And the bread they served alongside it was cold. The lemonade was way too tart and not sweet enough. The portion sizes are so small and they dont taste that great so Im not sure if its worth it.
Love the food. Feels safe for post-pandemic.
I had the MC ambroeus, it was really tasty. Nice place for a relaxed brunch solo. Nice location and atmosphere. Their gelateria next door has taaaasty pistachio gelato
Yum, try their gluten-free pasta its bomb. Service is great and ambiance is very inviting.100% would come back.
I love coming to this place, they have fast serviceand fresh food. I had pasta alla Bolognese and my friend had rigatoni strofinati. The dishes were amazing. The staff were amazing, but there is a general assistant manager named Roger, he is so nice.
Fabulous and excellent breakfast place! The atmosphere is great and design is so beautiful. The waiters were very friendly and recommended us the best dishes to try. Delicious food!!
Ok, one of my favorite places in the city. City break at 3:00 in the afternoon with wine and a lite bite or full on lunch or dinner. The people are great and I love the food. I relax here and totally appreciate the moment.
Overpriced nyc Italian food. No taste. Shrimp cocktail served warm. Came in with a big party and everyone agreed it was mediocre. Limited menu.
Excellent pasta (Ragu) enjoyed here. Chicken dish achieved high praise too. Good service, plenty of staff on duty when we were there. Comprehensive wine list or can enjoy by the glass.
Arene is such a wonderful and sweet hostess thank you for your hospitality
We sitting outside in the cabin. Feel private , comfortable, well manage .Good Hospitality and Good food worth it to pay ✌️😉
Place was lovely a the staff were very cute and helpfull. Food was good!
After dinner we decided to take a walk and have coffee . We came across Sant Ambroeus purely by chance Its located on Lafayette street in Soho and is combination of two outlets One is a restaurant and the other is a Gelatria / Cafe . We elected to sit outside I ordered my usual Americano while my wife ordered a Tiramisu dessert. The service was excellent although they were quite busy . My wife loved the Tirimsu dessert so much , she bought extra to take back to the hotel. The cafe also has some excellent vegan options , only to find out on our return trip to Sant Ambroeus. They are the only outlet so far to offer #Vegan Croissants . Great service and choice of desserts Coffe and Tea options. Sant Ambroeus have a few more branches but the dedicated Gelatria alongside the main restaurant is only available on Lafayette in Soho
Great food, great relaxed ambiance, very friendly staff. We were there for Brunch. Everything was great. We started with the eggplant parmigiana and ate veal milanese and the omelette for the main course. We will be back!
Legitimately agonizing experience.Terrible service (took forever even though place was empty.) Rude service, unsympathetic, and overpriced and mediocre food.Tasteless place without any soul and for a very specific type of clientele.Have better taste than this—enjoy the real NYC and go elsewhere.AVOID!
Unbelievable customer service, superb food and great vibes for brunch. Staff pay close attention to detail and make you feel seen and comfortable ♥️ Truly a gem!
Food is delicious!! Cappuccino & desserts were amazing! But i do agree with another review i read that said and i quote: “Egos run extra large here” imposible not to notice ☺️but enjoy the food! Because that’s why you’re there!
The staff was so nice, the food delicious as always. Martini was great, spaghetti pomodoro was fresh and delicious also! Oh and the clam and white sauce!!
Gelato and an espresso martini by candlelight! Why isn’t there a Sant Ambroeus in every neighborhood?!?
A great place to people watch but also has really legit italian gelato. The cookies are actually equally delicious. I ordered raspberry & strawberry gelato & it was freakin amazing. They also offer some pastries. It was a bit pricey, but most places in the area are. If you need a break from walking around, this is a great spot.
I went to the restaurant with friends and I ordered a vegetable dish that consisted literally of 1 Persian cucumber , 4 mint leaves and 1/3 of a can of baby corns that you will find in Cheap Chinese joints . This was the dish . I was charged $19 for this dish . I felt deceived . No chef that respects himself will serve this dish and definitely not for $19. So dissapointed .service was below average at least 3 different people were serving us. We had to ask twice for bread . Please remove this dish from your menu .Soup was blah as well. No taste whatsoever .Will go there on a Sunday morning for croissant and coffee but nothing else .
You can expect delicious, well prepared food at St. Ambroeus. The cocktails are excellent and desserts delicious. Slightly pricey but good food and service come at a price.
I really don’t know what the fuss is about. The food was nothing special and I have never had such bland pasta in my life. I tried my husbands dish too and it was so disappointing. No flavor.
I cannot speak to the hot food but the coffee and gelato were 10/10. Clean interior and a feeling of pride from the employees. I will return!
Great coffee for a good price - comfortable and warm outdoor seating for a fall afternoon.
Great Gelato and dessert. Cute ambiance.
One of my FAVORITE places in the city! The atmosphere is great here (either super calm and quiet or incredibly live and bustling), and everyone is quite kind. The food is really good, and they have one of the best gluten free pastas in the city. The coffee and hot chocolate, however, are the real stars. So, so, so good. At least stop in for a coffee if youre in the neighborhood.
Great pasta, lovely ambiance and very good service. Dont leave without trying the ice cream!! The fruit flavours are creamy and great
Great place for a quiet dinner. Its a smallish restaurant with good food, great service and a nice wine list.Come here for an intimate special occasion
I don’t comment a lot but the food was extremely sub par for the price the pasta was extra Oily and the Bolognese had no favor . The server was nice but even he look disappointed in what he was passing out. My fiancé sent back her dish I hope they get things fix the manager didn’t even come to the table to apologize
Gelato was fantastic! Especially the pistachio!
Great rigatoni!
Service was awful. Not kind. Bad management. Very sad for this brand😢
We let the chefs decide our food and they brought out a spectacular selection of dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful and guided us through the courses. Each dish was beautifully put together and all tasted unique yet complimentary.
Beautiful elegant place. The lamb chops and steak is one of the best in New York City. The service was outstanding with great music cant wait to go back
Went here for brunch and it was amazing. Great service as always! Food always comes out good! That french toast was really good and don’t forget the bacon!!
Awesome brunch menu. The food was spectacular and not very expensive (except for the coffee & tea). The rest of the menu looked a little pricy but definitely worth it.
Definitely has some nice spacious outdoor seating. Bar service was great but table service was meh.
If you have any food allergies don’t come here. I asked for gluten free and let them know my allergies and they gave me the wrong dish. I ate it unknowingly and got sick, they tried to tell me it was gluten free until we insisted they check again. The manager was kind after the fact but seriously thank goodness it wasn’t a life threatening allergy.
There’s a reason it’s iconic.
Very nice and upscale place
Pleasant wait staff and gorgeous interior!Ive been multiple times, and Ive never really been impressed with the food enough to warrant the prices.
An amazing NYC cafe group which pairs an exquisite aesthetic with an exquisite menu. Designed as, and originally being a traditional Milanese cafe, Sant Ambroeus is named after Saint Ambroggio, the patron saint of Milan, with the success of the original spawned multiple locations throughout New York City (first on Madison Ave in 1982, then expanding to West Village, SoHo, as well as Southampton on Long Island and Palm Beach, Florida.
Superb service, sophisticated, perfectly balanced flavors. Immaculate execution - everything was made to exactig standards. Good selection of wines by the glass.
A nice little spot to stop for a sweet and a warm drink. I had the mocha macciato very rich and the little matchboxes are nice souvenirs
Gazpacho was beautifully silky and so yummy. Great spot to people watch while sipping negroni. Heavenly!
Good food , great service ! Funny waitress but , please get a reservation in advance as this place is very popular for brunch !!!
Nice store. A little Sex and the City for my taste but the wife was loving the vibe. Food was better than average. Seating a little tight though.
Amazing service! Hard to find around nyc..from entering the restaurant till we left, we always had someone around caring for our table. Food & cocktails were good but definitely overpriced (pasta bolognese 31$). The ambience and lightning are nice. Would recommend more for couples than large parties as it is quite small.
Good Italian spot in Soho. Ive had both pasta and fish dishes here and theyre good. Try the prosciutto and mozzarella appetizer.
Classic, where my grandmother uses to go. Love it. Salmon with quinoa is excellent.
Very good brunch
The best paninis when you are on the UES I have tried the pastas but definitely prefer the paninis Cannot decide which one is better Sant Ambroeus or Hazelnut Ganache and finally the… read more
Not often this has happened that I’ve decided to leave a bad review for a restaurant *while* I’m still sitting there but wow… what a badly operated restaurant… the Brookfield location is really good but the SoHo one is not… non attentive, obnoxious staff and waitresses that push the table in your face … don’t seat you even when they have so much empty space
A good spot for weekend brunch. Portions are a bit small. If you come hungry, you might leave the same way.
I came for breakfast with my daughter and friend. Wednesday morning. The waitress reluctantly accepted the order. as if she was in a hurry to leave. . We waited for food, but in the end they simply forgot about my omelette. It’s not that scary, of course I didn’t like the attitude of the staff, no one apologized, I had to come up and remind them of my order. I went to eat, but I was hungry, the waitress was rude. A friend recommended this place as delicious with good service. I dont think so. The food may be delicious, but the service is 1 star.
Food is descent but service is a bit slow. Beautiful place inside
A huge thank you to Remy,For accommodating and making this day so special… been wanting to have my friend bday celebrated and this was perfect… nice desert with candle and best vibes.Love this place the best energy always great food and never disappoints!
Host was unbelievably rude and stand off-ish, even with a reservation. The service is like if they were doing you a favor.
We had such a good time at the bar with Niko. Very knowledgeable about spirits and a spectacular conversationalist.
Picked up an order and didnt notice an item was missing until returning home. Immediately came back to get the missing the item and was called a liar. Had to argue with 3 employees and a manager before receiving the missing item.
Great food, excellent service, good prizes
The place was nice but Food was average to say the least. We got the pasta bolognese and a spinach ricotta ravioli.Good wine list
Great gelato and super nice staff
Nice employeesGood dessert
Very good breakfast! Loved their avocado toast and pancakes. Will go back
Great place, serves fantastic yogurt! I also ate the pancake but it wasnt so tasty so they agreed to refund me.
Mr Lee on the bar provides top service. Really good omelettes and espresso / macchiatos. Trendy crowd. Ill be back when next in NY.
Perfect NYC lunch. Staff was amazing. Exceptional food. This is my favorite lunch in NYC.
Very accommodating, very attentive,, and very friendly staff. They pay attention to the details
Wow, love it.
Great cozy Italian spot the food is simple but excellent
Mediocre place , with mediocre food. The guy who is responsible for the reservations is super rude , probably he thinks he is working on a Michelin star place . The only nice thing is that you can seat outside ,other than that nothing special
My go to brunch spot on Sundays where I can linger for hours and never feel rushed! Best food also
Love this place for drinks and a good pasta!
Soooo busy. Super expensive. And so many rude and pretentious people. Fortunately the staff and food is amazing.
Got the sant ambreous panini for lunch, good size and tasty. Beautiful restaurant with friendly and attentive service
Fancy, but the music selection doesnt go with the ambiance. They could afford to play more classy tunes.

Good place and atmosphere, good service and food, a little expensive, but worthy
Food on point , slow service , a bit dated interior , small and at times loud dining room.
Love the space and the staff, but I ordered the clam pasta (linguine alle vongole) it was extra spiced and had no taste of the sea even when eating the clams by themselves.
We ordered a take out of their chocolat cake! It was soooo good!! Would recommend! The service was amazing too! Would definitely go back and eat there without hesitation
Very good Italian restaurant. I had fish. Hitch was one of the best I have eaten
One of my favourite italian restaurants in SoHo. I’ve been here several times. Everything is always great: salads, starters, pasta - Especially Cacio e Pepe is legendary here!
Excellent potato and chickpea soup with a blt. So satisfying in a quiet outdoor room.
Great place, great food, great staff.
Couldnt think of a single thing that disappointed well worth a visit and would definitely frequent again.
Rigatoni is scrumptious and the vibe is righttt. Fun for dates or with friends.
Fantastic service, very kind employees, but the food was just really lacking in flavor.
Everything was delicious and fresh such a cute ambiance
Nice (loved the frittata)
I really love this place if you are looking for a little treat like a small piece of cake especially there giandiua cake overall this place is great and I highly recommend it
I love this place! The pasta is absolutely perfect every time, wine list is excellent and the desserts are to die for 🫠 Can’t wait to come back again!
Courteous and efficient service. Host arranged for an unsolicited birthday dessert. Quite a pleasant surprise
Excellent and tasty food. Very small cozy place
Comfortable, slightly dowdy local bistro. Nice counterpoint to the noisy and electric Balthazar.
Had brunch here today and from the moment I walked in the service was so professional. The managers are such a delight. The attention to detail changing the fresh flowers on the table and tasty plate. Cute aesthetic inside for pics. Perfect for a solo date or with friends.
Wonderful staff, who rescued two wayward souls looking for a NYE champagne sip.
Sadly very disappointing food but excellent drinks and service.
Good Italian restaurant
The food was exceptional, as always. However, children are running the front of house and table service-testing customers as if they were at a McDonald’s drive through. Some soft skills training is necessary.
Average food and service!!
Great ambiance, laid back service, great latte, great late lunch
Fast and delicious! Gorgeous food and atmosphere
Really good place. The service was excellent and the food was amazing.
I went to the cafe next to the restaurant for the hot chocolate and gluten free cookies
What a fun find! Great food, drinks, coffees, and desserts. Have non dairy options!! More than just soy! Such a simple gesture means so much. Great people and atmosphere
Favorite lunch spot when visiting New York. Bone in Veal Milanese with Arugula is the best in New York.
Good atmosphere and good customer base
The staff at this location is incredible. Of course the food is impeccable but feel like that goes without saying when we’re talking about Sant Ambroeus. It’s truly the service that is just a cut above the rest. From the bartenders (shout out to Nico for the great conversation about the plate wall, I learned something new!), to the manager Marco and leader Michael. Everyone is so lovely and so committed to you having the best experience. I will always be a Sant Ambroeus SoHo stan! Five stars aren’t even enough for this spot!
Sant Ambreous you’ll always have my heart.
The truffle risotto!!! Might cause an arm and a leg but is definitely worth it
