This restaurant is a must. Maison Barnes in NYC is a gem. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegance and warmth, making it ideal for a special night out. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with dishes that showcase impeccable technique and rich flavors. Service is spot on! The ambience makes you feel welcome. Coming just for drinks at the bar feels like an escape to Paris! The best new opening in New York!
A must try! Once you enter the restaurant, you are transported into Les Jardins des Tuileries in Paris. Cozy atmosphere where you feel like at home, losing the sense of time. The personnel is top notch and the food is absolutely amazing. A pure expression of perfection. Chef Romain has a talent for execution: beauty and taste. The wine list is very interesting too where you have a broad choice of selection at all prices. You can wonder further at the bar to continue your perfect evening. Bon appétit!
I had lunch at the Cafe (we had dinner in the restaurant a few weeks ago). The food is good but the service in the Cafe was very slow and very sloppy, our food arrived late, much, much later than is normal. I saw many staff in the Cafe but it seemed no one was really in charge. It is a pity.
What a great atmosphere, i am stunned by what Maison Barnes has accomplished. The food is a one of a kind find in the upper east side !
Service was great, but food was...well...not.Everything was over engineered, and not in a good way. The ingredients were barely distinguishable after their treatment. Exhibit 1 was the lobster ravioli: chewy tasteless pasta filled with a brown goo that tasted like the over-reduced sauce and salt, but definitely not lobster. Next came the expensive up-sold steak and short rib - the portion was tiny, but I didnt finish it. The steak was gummy from sous-vide with no sear and no flavor. The short rib was better, but very fatty. I tried to eat the 3 brussels sprouts but sadly they were gummy and tasteless too.Dessert, you say? The molten chocolate cake tasted like something Jean-Georges pulled out of his freezer in 1997, paired with a really gross mint ice cream. I ate the whole thing, but mostly because I was still hungry. My family lives right around the corner, and despite the price, had the meal actually been good, we would have made it a neighborhood spot. Good thing for our wallets, I guess, that it was one of the most disappointing meals of 2024 (or 2023, or 2022). I felt bad for the waitstaff presenting this stuff to us like it was actually good.
Mediocrity at its finest.
Best French restaurant in NYC!
Amazing restaurant with great service. Has 2 beautiful private rooms and an amazing bar. Food was a delight, will be going back for sure.
Unbelievable construction. Finest elements all reunited under one roof! Very happy to have visited
Excellent
Unfortunately did not have a great experience at all. The hostess and manager are both very welcoming, however our server, Paulina, is giving extremely unwelcoming vibes.Starting from the appetizer choice, since I ordered lobster ravioli and lactose intolerant. The server mentioned this dish has a lot of cheese. She just pause there - not offering anything at all. Using Daniel or any other fine dining restaurant as an example, the standard procedure would be to check with the chef to see if the dish could be made without or without very light cheese. When I requested the same, Paulina first asked ‘Cheese is okay for you?’
A beautifully decorated place for a special occasion, worth dressing up for.Polite service but I could not understand half of descriptions our waiter gave us, need to work on the dishes presentation. The food was amazingly plated. Beef with pan seared foie gras was super juicy, the cacao foie gras appetizer was amazing, but mu husbands arctic char was just ok but salmon roe made it too salty. His carrot tart appetizer was quite unique and unconventional. The Montblanc desert was unexpectedly big but overly sweet, while a cheese plate had a generous selection of cheeses so was a good value.
The French art of living, incredible cuisine, Yes we are in New York, but with this Parisian touch.
Luxury and good eating!
