It’s not often I want to eat French food so I’m glad my friends introduced me to this place! Such good food, service, and ambiance!!Bottomless mimosa for brunch is $26! Such a great deal in West Village! I ordered the scrambled egg vol au vent, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were not too overpowering, and the puff pastry was perfect. I could have used a little bit more seasoning and pepper but to each his own. I still thoroughly enjoyed it as is! The truffle fries were also great, and I like how they serve the complimentary bread in a bag.An added touch was presenting the check in a book! Very creative! Cannot wait to return to try other items off the menu and to visit for dinner. I heard the duck dishes are also incredible, and heads up, RSVP because you never know how busy they can get!
Incredibly tasty French brunch at extremely great prices especially given the area. Their eggs Benedict (5/5) is the best Benedict in the city by far: smooth, smoky savory bacon atop perfectly toasted fluffy bread topped with perfectly poached eggs and heavenly hollandaise sauce. Its also only $18 which is a steal in this area. Their banana creme brulee (5/5) is also incredibly - delicately creamy (none of that fake garbage) sweet, and delicious. Service is also top notch.
Happy hour was awesome. Choice of several wine flights and cocktails, and an interesting app menu. Dinners were great as well. It does have a limited menu, but better to do a small menu really well. The flan was good.
Such a great French restaurant! We dined here for lunch and every dish was delicious. Coq au vin was really good and 2/3 the price compared to other restaurants that offer the same dish with the same portion. We also enjoyed the pistachio crusted goat cheese ball - the taste was great and the sauce was just amazing. Octopus was also really good. Definitely recommend this place.
Went here for my birthday, the steak tartare is amazing. Our server is very welcoming and had very good recommendations. Jojo wine flight is great. Duck breast is outstanding. Well be back again.
Cute little wine bar with excellent food. The pistachio goat cheese ball was to DIE for, along with the raviolis. Highly recommend getting the Amelie Spritz, it’s so refreshing and delicious. This place is a staple, always love dining here.
Goated spot for French cuisine. Good food, good music, good vibes, good prices and good service. Especially loved the Amelie burger and the escargots. Also really liked that there was great French music (love the R&B choices) being DJed while we had our meals. Excellent Sunday brunch energy.
I visited this spot after seeing a Gojo look alike in Washington Square Park and was looking for somewhere to go aftee. I had heard about their happy hour on a video online so I decided to check it out since I already had it saved and it didn’t disappoint! I tried the Oksana flight during happy hour, which included three different wines💖 I also ordered a croque monsieur which was delicious but very hot! Give it time to cool off😅 The staff was kind, and most of them even spoke French, giving me the chance to practice my French skills. One unique touch I loved was how the receipt came tucked inside a book of poems it was such a thoughtful detail. The decor inside had cozy and stylish vibe that made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience☺️🍷
The happier hour!Good vibe, exquisite cuisine, velvety or bubbly wines, pleasant place to escape the winter cold wind. They offer a happy hour with wine of the day OR wine flight options. It’s an oasis of excellent cheeses and French dining icons. Escargots, beef steak tartare, coq au vin, if it’s French they cook it! Upscale dining means upscale price so be ready to pay top dollar. If you like wines and cheese then this place is like a mecca for you. When in NY, do yourself a favour and visit Amelie. We had escargots gratine, steak tartare, a few wine flights, sparkling Oksana, red Naim and red Eric, and the nicest Spanish Garnacha.Cheese-wise we tried:- camembert normandie- brillat savarin (our favourite)- tete de moine- taleggio- three sisters (goat, sheep and cow)Surprinsingly relaxing afternoon all in all!
On Saturday 6/22 I made a reservation at 5 pm for 4 people. My mom was visiting from out of town and Amelie is one of my favorite spots, so I was excited to bring her. About an hour before our reservation, my 4 cousins called me and asked if they could also join, which I didn’t think would be an issue as they would also be eating and drinking. I called Amelie to give a heads up about the additional people and no one answered the phone. We showed up about 20 min early to the reservation to explain the situation, and begrudgingly and with a bad attitude, were told it would be figured out.Once we had sat down, one of the staff members came to our table, and asked who had made the reservation. It was under my name, and I said I had. In front of the rest of the table he rudely said “Next time, make the reservation for the correct amount of people” and walked away. This was extremely uncalled for and rude, and made me feel pretty embarrassed and my other guests felt unwelcome. We spent over $500 and we’re rushed the entire time (our waiter was lovely and he was not the one treating us poorly). There was no body else waiting for our table, and this entire experience honestly made me never want to return to Amelie. This is a shame because prior to this, I’ve always had a lovely time, and have visited 10/15 times at this point.I hope this is taken into consideration for the future. I sent an email voicing my complaint and no one responded. I will never be back because of the terrible way we were all treated.
Go for the food !Get the grilled octopus appetizer, a cheese plate and a side of fries with your main course ! Went here for my friend Richards Birthday Saturday and theres a reason why they get 5 star reviews . The food is really above average. Theres Happy Hour drink and food specials before 6 even on weekends. Try the wine flights ! You get 3 glasses for $13 and you can try some nice things. I tried the orange flight and it really was a different tasting on each one ! Pretty nice. Theres $10 escargot on the HH menu too. Very earthy. The octopus with ratatouille appetizer is special, get it . Delicious and tender. The cheese plate is great quality with some jam and honey and dried fruit and nuts on the platter . Ask for extra bread ( theyll bring butter if you ask for it ) Our mains were both fish and theyre delicious. The green beans on the branzino plate were no afterthought ! Everything tasted good. Side of fries comes with ketchup and mayo so you dont need to ask for any . Outside tables are nice on 8th street too. Crispy and good. Dessert was ok , mousse is very dense .Get the Russian Hill gin cocktail. So refreshing. This place is recommended, good for occasion too though its not huge inside. Service was nice as well.
Had a great brunch here. The charcuterie was great. I wish my steak wouldve been seasoned a little better. It was a tad bland. Everything else was very good. My cocktail was very good. The servers are very attentive and personable. They were chatting with regulars and were making an effort to get to know new customers.
My food friend was eyeing this place and Im so glad we stopped by. At first I was thinking how does a French restaurant with wine have so many reviews in NY, but Amelie did not disappoint. We ordered the lobster risotto, duck leg confit, octopus and escargot. Plenty of food for 4 people. The risotto was great in texture and had a fair amount of labor. The duck was cooked perfectly. Crispy skin on the outside and fall off the bone meat on the inside. The grilled octopus and escargot are a must order as well. We also had some wine flights which were priced very nicely during happy hour even on a Sunday.Love how they have happy hour even on the weekends. The drink menu is extensive here. Highly recommend making reservations prior to dining here as the seats filled up very quickly. The restaurant ambience is great with all of the wine bottles along the wall. Amelie takes Covid seriously as the entire staff is wearing gloves and masks. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want great food, wine and a place to people watch as well
A beautiful little restaurant with fantastic wine and cocktails and, honestly, even more fantastic food. God their food is so good. One visit and this became an instant favorite for my partner and I. We’re already thinking about showing it to some friends, and planning future date nights. It’s also really easy to get to from Jersey City or Hoboken, just about 2 short blocks in total from the 9th street PATH station. We went during a weeknight and it was lively without being too crowded. I 100% recommend checking it out!
The wine knowledge all the servers have here is incredible! Tiny, dimly lit, and with charm galore...this place is a perfect getaway spot within the bustling city. The receipt comes in beautiful old paperbacks and the copious wine menu is designed to look like the selections on old records. The wine flight during Happy Hour is not to be missed. Oh...and the steak here is pretty divine as well!!!
The Frenchiest French bistro in all of New York. Come sit at the bar and practice your French for a reasonable price and fun vibes.
Ordered the chicken liver mousse, the Amelie salad, crispy artichoke, and the coq a vin to share between two. Food was great. Intimate space that I think is good for groups up to 4 to drink, eat, and catch up.
Loved our Sunday brunch. Favorites of the day include ratatouille and almond crusted cheese ball. The ambience of the place is probably more suited to dinner than brunch coz it came across as lackluster in the daylight. Make sure to get here only after a reservation. There was a rush even at 3pm on Sunday.
We had made reservations for a Sunday brunch (11:30 am) and the place wasnt busy at all. We were seated right away and ordered a bottle of Malbec for the table. We placed our order which included a few omelettes and I got the Amélie Lamb Burger ($16) with lettuce wrap. Service was quick and food arrived within 20 mins.Service quality itself wasnt that great. The French speaking staff especially needs some lessons on hospitality. No one checked with us if everything was ok and to our liking. We wanted some hot sauce but no one was paying attention and didnt bother coming to our table in spite if signaling a few servers. Also, when we called for check, they charged us for home fries which was clearly included with omelettes. When we flagged this error, again, the French speaking staff said, that they are not included. Finally, the nice gentleman who was at the bar corrected this error and even apologized for this error. Kind man.Food was ok.. the Lamb Burger had no salt (and guess what, salt wasnt on the table either)! So yeah, felt and looked like very authentic French place!
My friends and I were walking in washing square park and didn’t where to have lunch, we found this place and decided to give it a shot, it was one of my favorites spots to have lunch in NY. Lunch was delicious, super tasty. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and sparkling water.
Absolutely amazing place! They have a happier hour that runs before the dinner rush that is just great. Expect to pay up a little for this wonderfully delightful restaurant with cute little nuances that set the charm of this place apart. Flights are great and the salmon costini was our favorite.
Great option for a quick casual glass of wine and a bite. A little noisy, would go there more for cocktails than a serious sitdown dinner, but festive and has good energy.
So wonderful, everything was delicious and service was amazing. The chicken liver mousse and duck config were incredible. There is a table in the back which is excellent for a larger group.
Wonderful wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Asked for really dry red and every choice we were given was exactly that. Charcuterie plates were delicious and visually appealing. Bartender was knowledgeable friendly and helpful. My rating is because of the overall experience. Wine good, food good, staff good. You don’t always get all three at one time.
This is a place for wine and cheese. The octopus is really good and worth ordering again. Duck leg and Beef Tartare are light flavored, taste Ok.
Loveeeee! So many delicious options! This place feels like you’re transported to Europe. My fave is the beef tartare and mussels!
Wine flights - both good and relatively affordable during happy hour ($14 each for 3 glasses per flight)- Jules - full white wine- Matthieu - orange wineTruffle fries and grilled chicken sandwich and mussels were delicious
Amazing French cuisine with very friendly vibe. I’m visiting from LA - this is my new favorite French restaurant
$14 wine flights, which consists of 3 glasses per flight, is a cheat code. Great happy hour pricing... I mean the flights were pretty mid but $14 for 3 glasses, how could I ever complain? To pair with our flights, we got the truffle fries because fries and wine combination is undefeated. Fellas, put a hinge prompt that your simple pleasures include fries and wine and watch the likes roll in. Free game.Amélie is about as French as a French restaurant gets. The waiter had a heavy French accent, the receipt came in a book written in French, fries were BOMB, plates of escargots flying in and out of the kitchen, and the service was meh.My big bro also went on the first date with his wife here the other night, so this place is pretty special.Ig @jnov_Tiktok @jnov_reviews
Food is not bad, just underwhelming. The kombucha was definitely watered down with seltzer water, was charged $11 for it. Service was very friendly and attentive
I was really excited to try Amelie after years of wanting to go (every time I visit New York) and was a bit disappointed. The atmosphere, interior design and service were all excellent but food was meh. I had the duck (which is my fav) with mashed potatoes, and my friends had the beet salad and burger. The mashed potatoes which normally I find excellent at restaurants like this tasted like they were from a box and my friend found her salad one note - not worth the $20. Burger and fries on the other hand were awesome and I couldn’t get enough of the bread.
Great experience. Very efficient and friendly service. Food was very good, especially the pistachio goat cheese appetizer.
A cool place for dinner. They have a great deal for trying different kinds of wine, which was a fun experiment. The food was fantastic. Location is prime. Felt authentic.
If you’re looking for good drinks and top quality food/tapas this is the spot. Funny story is that me and my wife were looking to use the rest room and a place to eat and spontaneously ran into Amelie. We had left to check out the rest of the area out (Greenwich Village) when I noticed my wallet was missing. I had panicked and called the restaurant and they told me one of the workers had found it in the bathroom. So we came back (which I was thinking about because the food looked so damn good) and we decided to grab some charcuterie along with some drinks. Naime, which is the manager there took care of us and even gave us some drinks and food on the house! I would give them a 10 stars if I could. I definitely recommend this place. Best food and customer service hands down. I wouldn’t go anywhere else if you’re in the area. Thank guys we definitely will be back!
Ive never had real French food and as a first timer the food was really good! I got the Coq au Vin and my girlfriend got the Steak Fritas. Both were really good, I really enjoyed the sauce on the Coq au Vin. We also ordered the Escargot. I was skeptical to try it, but my girlfriend talked me into it and I was not disappointed! It came with some amazing bread and I didnt even notice I was eating snail. We order the Rosé wine flight (only $12 during happy hour), I dont really like the taste of alcohol, but my girlfriend really enjoyed it! I would definitely come back!
One of my favorite places to people watch in the city, made even better by the covid-19 outdoor dining. Come here during happy hour to get an excellent flight of wines for an amazing price. A little bit of paris in Washington square.
Forget the calories and indulge in excellently prepared French classics! Complement them with the wonderfully matched wine flights. Value to the max!
Great selection for the flights. Tried the beef tartare topped with a cute quail yoke. I just wish the tables were a big bigger for all these glasses...Also, Happy Hour is Monday-Thursday
The service is friendly and the ambiance is very cute. I came on my own last Thursday and came with a friend again yesterday! They have $12 flights during happy hour (from open till 7pm everyday). You can either choose from a pre-designed flight of 3 wines or build your own (try the Sand Point Cabernet, its divine). The bartenders are fairly well-versed in wine and willing to help you with your choices. The appetizers are delicious, the pistachio crusted goat cheese is PHENOMENAL. The menu is attached to an old record cover and the check is brought out inside of an old book.Cant wait for my next visit!
Great folks here. And really good food and wine. The oysters are top notch and a great deal. Perfect onion soup. Yummy bread. Why they think they need “music” is dumb. All you hear is a vague thumping bass and it doesn’t help conversation or the overall vibe.
I met my soon to be husband here on our first date so holds a special place in my heart ❤️ the wine flights are amazing, Ive tried them all and cant go wrong. The food is delicious and they are accommodating with allergies as well.
A boeuf bourguignon with a radish on top, brussel sprouts, and sweet potatoes is a crime against French cuisine. Call it the Amelie stew or something just don’t pretend it is what it isn’t. Nice place but sorry this isn’t actual French cuisine. Also the sauce was runny like a consommé.
Amelie is quite lovely! I found my eyes wandering a lot to check out all the design quirks around the room. The room itself is dimly lit with a soft, red glow.
Chicken liver is delicious! Also try the happy hour wine tasting, worth the price.
Very nice place to meet a friend and catch up for lunch. I definitely recommend. Loved their food.
Restaurant week, so you probably cant get these tiny raviolis on the regular menu. Sorry youre not as cool as me. You should have gone during restaurant week. Live a little. You deserve a little treat, come on.
I would like to take a moment to express my satisfaction with the dining experience I had at your establishment on a recent Friday night. The steak and fries were particularly delectable, and the atmosphere was conducive to a pleasant dining experience. I also had the pleasure of being served by a courteous and attentive waiter, whose friendly demeanor contributed to the overall enjoyable evening. I would highly recommend your establishment to anyone seeking a quality dining experience. Thank you for the wonderful service.
Cute French inspired neighbor place with a good wine list. Food menu is vast - Ive only tried the oysters which were fresh and well shucked and the escargot with puffed pastry which wasnt special. Will go back.
Romantic wine bar in Greenwich Village. They have a great wine flight happy hour, which you should check out if you can. Also, the escargot in butter and parsley sauce its absolutely scrumptious!
Nice atmosphere, but they thrown us out at 8 pm Saturday’s - didn’t ask if we want something else, just brought the check and bye bye - they have a line, so need to get rid of people fast
All I had was the Appetizers & they were the best Apps I had all Season!
Food and wine is incredible, service was terrible. I rarely call out bad service, but this was memorable. Our waiter was very aloof. While ordering our meal he interrupted to ask if it was for us (still unsure what he meant lol). Then later while still waiting for our meals he came and asked if we wanted dessert. Another staff member nearly elbowed my friend in the face while refilling water and didn’t even notice. The table next to us even leaned over to complain about our waiter too, enough for jaded New Yorkers to talk to strangers to make sure it wasn’t just them. That being said, the food is incredible. Wish the service was better.
Fantastic wine bar with a fun happy hour. wine flights to test your pallette and bring it down with some tasty charcuterie
Great happy hour deal: flight of wine was $14 and super tasty + good portionBeef tartar was flavorful and fresh, but the truffle fries lacked in the truffle flavor.
Excellent first experience at Amelie. Wines by the glass were all interesting and good in their own way. Food and service were outstanding. We had goat cheese salad, mussels, and coq au vin. On the quiet and more intimate side in terms of ambience, which is hard to find in NYC. Combine all of this with very reasonable prices and this is a true find.
This is the place where I and my wife’s first date.Food are amazing and they have ton of wine list.Very good atmosphere and staffs are very noticeable. My wife don’t like meat but she loves Chicken Liver.Muscles are good but I like a little more strong flavor.Theirs are savory and I don’t criticize it.Onion soup is my favorite.Only con is table are tiny and too close.Sorry for the blurry photos it’s very dark inside and I don’t want bother others with flash.
If you’re big on wine and French food, Amelie is a great spot. If you come to happy hour, wine flights are discounted and it’s a nice way to try different wines within a certain type. They had some good apps too: my friend got escargot and pate, and I had the salmon tartare. The bread for the table was a nice twist as well. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was the service delays. My friend had a reservation but we had to wait in a cramped tent entryway for a while for the waiter/host to attend to us. And it took a long time to get our check back. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt though, since the place is pretty popular, it’s busy. Make sure you make a reservation!
Excellent food! This is a refined french cuisine. A must visit when in NYC.
Lovely little place to grab a bite. Waiter was a little rude (its a French thing), but overall I was happy with my meal. Food is pretty great if youre a fan of French food.
Nice quiet romantic date place. Skip the food, fries are ok.
Great for happy hour very professional service small quiet and the food is so tasty
My husband and I made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary at this restaurant. However, our experience was disappointing. The waitress, Matteuw, was very unfriendly and barely spoke to us. He seated us at a small table despite there being bigger tables and outdoor seating available. When I politely asked if we could move to a bigger or outdoor table, he was extremely rude and dismissive. However, we noticed that some guests who arrived after us were seated at larger tables without reservations, including a party of two who were seated at a table meant for four peopleThe food was just okay, with only the baked camembert and fresh bagel being good. I also dont recommend the wine flight as the quality of wine was poor. The restaurant itself had an old diner feel, rather than the cozy French café vibe we were hoping for.Overall, we were disappointed with our experience and would not recommend this restaurant.
Bad experience at Amelia. The food was delish but the waiters were pushing us to leave. We had reserved and arrived at 7:30 and we left at 8:10. We spent a lot of money and we were told we must vacate the table for the next customers. No one was waiting outside. It was a very odd experience. I don’t recommend the place. Pity because the food was very good.
Nice wine selection, good food, good happy hour deals. Servers were a little rude and made us all order food at happy hour, but on the whole, it was a positive experience
Fantastic food. We ordered delivery and It was hot and delicious. We ordered two different pastas and the half roast chicken with mashed potato and fries. Everything was delicious! We had ordered once before just a pasta dish but living up to it every time. Love this place everyone should try!
Ive only been here once, but it was perfect. The food is amazing and even though the dishes were quite small, I underestimated how full I became after only eating half of the dish. Atmosphere-wise, I couldnt have been more satisfied. Very elegant and beautiful. The service was exquisite and the drinks were delicious! I will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to my family and friends!
Very nice wines, appetizers and not too expensive! We came here twice- both times we tried their spicy flight. The salmon tartarine appetizer was pretty good. Their roast cauliflower was good but not as good as the salmon. We tried their specials the next time. The side bread was surprisingly good (why give fresh good bread for free?)The staff is very friendly, the wait is usually not too long- but theres not much space to stand while waiting.
Went at 12PM on Saturday for Brunch. It wasnt too busy at that time, feel like you could walk in for a quick brunch. Staff / servers are very friendly and attentive, atmosphere is nice, and food is great! I had the Chicken liver mouse & Local Burrata as appetizer - the liver mouse comes with some bread. It was so good I wish I could bring the remainder with me home :) got the egg benedict as main dish which was also great - even the fries and the salad that comes as a side is so good. Serving is generous so if you eat too much bread might not have room for the main dish. Note I dont think there is coffee on the menu, so if you are the type of person that needs morning coffee youll need to get it before or after your visit.
This is a place I return to again and again. I love to bring folks whove not been and every time they love it too. I always ask the waiter for recommendations for a wine flight and then enjoy the three wines they select. The food is also really good. Fun atmosphere. People here just seem happy to be together and enjoy good wine. Thats quite French!
Very crowded and loud outside. Great deals on happy hour drinks, happy hour goes til 8PM too!
Great food and lovely services. We got the escargot, duck confit and steak for mains, banana pudding brûlée. All tasted amazing. Nice ambience which was perfect for date nights. Will come again to try other dishes!
A very small and cozy French restaurant. The food is awesome and very French. Try the goat cheese ball for sharing! Service is good and very attentive. The tables are extremely small and the noise level is quite high. This takes away some of the charm from this excellent little place. They have happy hour until 7pm where especially wine flights is a good choice.
Standard little French Cafe with lots of natural light and easy going ambiance. Nice choice of salads. I especially enjoyed the Kale salad. Came with a big basket of bread on the table and didnt have to ask for it, which I always appreciate. They didnt rush us out the door and made us feel comfortable enough to sit and enjoy eating slowly, especially for Sunday brunch rush. Bloody Mary was delicious and BIG!
This place is awesome. My friend suggested this place for happy hour after reading great reviews. When I got there, my friend had already put in our name for a seat at the bar. The scene was lively and red. I loved the lights and the dim red lighting.By the time I arrived, we were seated within five minutes. The cheese ball is to die for, and they keep the bread coming. We did the wine flights, where you get three tastings for $12. I also had the toast topped with cured meat. It was delicious. The bartender was charming and attentive. An overall great time, and I cant wait to go back.
Great place to get a quick solo meal or a dinner w friends. Food very good, bread is amazing. The happy hour is also great! Nice servers.
I adore this place and have been coming here and to the UWS location for 5 years. Today we had the abysmal misfortune to be served by Louis C. though. Very poor service that stains an otherwise wonderful establishment with great food and interesting wine. Our waiter Louis dropped off our wine flights and we never saw him again. He acknowledged two requests over 20 mins to see what one of the wines in our wine flight was, but never followed up. The host eventually came by and helped us.
C’est fantastique!I was in New York for a brief two day stay and tried 4 French restaurants, this one takes the CAKE! Partial waitstaff was authentic French which was a VIBE, but it was really the food that gets the gold star. Small and quaint, stopped by at lunch- there wasn’t a wait and we get the same great menu. And sat indoors at this chic hidden gem. Everything we ate was spectacular, and the baguettes were top notch!Highly recommend. To note: service feels European so make sure you take your time and enjoy at a leisure pace.
This was our last night in NYC. We tried several restaurants that were completely booked. We went to Amelie’s and we loved our experience! There were no tables available but we were told we could sit at the bar. We were unsure at first but we need not to have been. It was a wonderful dining experience with fantastic service. The bartender was attentive and super helpful but also left us to ourselves for lots of “private” time. If you are in The Village you have to eat at Amelie’s! You will be so glad that you did.
They had a good amount of wine options: bon, tres bon, and excellent (thé catégories). Service is not great but food is good, also skip dessert.
Thomas and the rest of the staff were amazing. We got 2 glasses of wine, goat cheese appetizer, and the roasted chicken and Arctic char (char was on special). All soooo good! Would highly recommend.
A few of us came here for a lunch. We really wanted to try the croque madame, so we all ended up getting it and it was awesome! We will definitely be coming back for their happy hour wine flights. Great atmosphere and very authentic Parisian cuisine!
The wine and food (we tried the cheese board) were great! But one of the waiters with an insisted French accent was a bit rude; not welcoming enough and not intrested in helping, I wasnt sure whats going on and seemed both weird and funny to me why he has a hard time doing his job.. and his reaction to the questions we asked mainly reminded me of what one of my French teachers once said about a typical Parisian behavior: when you ask them something they dont know or understand, they reply what kind of a stupid question is that?
We had some wine and a cheese platter, and everything was super delicious (and super pricey!) the staff was not very welcoming and was anxious for us to leave, thats a shame.
Beautiful ambiance and great selection of wines! The place was packed and finding a seat took awhile, but absolutely worth the wait. Happy hour gives an option to select 3 different combination of wines, each with a distinct taste. A fun experience overall!
Food was great and so was the staff. Very authentic French but the place is just a modern bar. I took my Girlfriend there because Google said its romantic butGangster rap and loud club music say otherwise. Good wine, and they offer wine flights which I will have to return for. The endless bread is to die for.
Lavish selection of food. Very enchanting room with the dim lights and all. All the positive reviews were true. Not a single bad thing. Amazing food. A little bit noisy but if youre quite on that mood, you can join the noise. Our server was very charming and quite a joker. Made our night even better.
The food here was excellent however the service was incredibly poor and subpar. My friend and I were seated at a table for 3, we had a reservation for 3 at 5:30 pm. The waiter was very rude and kept interrupting us to say that we had to give up the table if the third person did not come by 6:45. By this time, my friend and I had already ordered quite a substantial amount of wine and food. Again, the waiter kept coming to our table and kept pushing about needing the table. The third person came at 6:40. And he didnt even get to order anything when the waiter came to us and said that he needed the table by 7. The waiter basically forced us out of the table. The waiter lacked manners and was completely unprofessional. DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE BECAUSE THEY HAVE POOR SERVICE.
Yesterday afternoon. On the day of Pride, June 27th, while trying to get some brunch I had the rudest server. He had threatened to move us if he had to (since my bf and I sat at a four top instead of a two top), warned us that we “wouldn’t like it” if he did but that he “will do it”. The restaurant was empty at the time.As our dining experience moved forward, the line for the restroom became longer than the line for actual service and dining.I wonder why…•not worth the money•rude service
5 star for the good wine selection, and tasty food!. 2 stars for atmosphere - 3.5 stars overall. That said, not the best spot if you are looking for a quiet candle light dinner for a date or relaxed drinks after work.During our visit: Music is not loud but, not a fan of the hop-hop, Reggaeton music with the wine and good food options. Place is loud with conversation (which is nice, lively, just not for us that day).In the end, definitely a place to go check out, wine and food are above standard, maybe Kickstart the evening, just not the wine atmosphere, IMO.
Third time had a dinner and never has been disappointed. The food is always great. The only small downside it is a little bit laud. Highly recommend this place.
Had a great eveningFood was great and the wine. Nice atmosphere and good music.
Great food, environment and wine. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Make sure to make a reservation as its very difficult to get a table without one. There is a wide variety of French food such as cheese, escargot and other French dishes. The wine list is simple superb, they also have a great happy hour offering of wine flutes for 12$. This is a great place to hangout with friends, have an after work drink or celebrate a special occasion. Ill definitely be coming back here!
Really enjoyed eating here, food had really good flavor
A sensational experience for lovers of French cuisine. The Mourvèdre/Syrah red was brilliant.
The eggs marinated red wine are amazing. Sit at the bar, get a flight and just enjoy the ambiance. The staff are fantastic. This is great place for weekend brunch or afternoon/work wine meet up.
A stones throw from Washington Square Park this lovely restaurant is a must if you’re in the West Village. We sat at the bar for a pre dinner drink and then moved to a little table by the window. Between us we had the French Onion soup, delicious. The baked Camembert, always a treat. The steak tartare & fries, amazing. Steak Frites, juicy & tasty. Great atmosphere and hard working staff. Forget about counting calories—this restaurant is all about indulging in wonderfully prepared French classics! Each dish is a masterpiece, beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor. I was especially impressed by the exquisite attention to detail in every bite, whether it was a buttery croissant, a rich coq au vin, or a decadent chocolate mousse. To elevate the dining experience, I paired my meal with their thoughtfully curated wine flights. Each selection complemented the dishes perfectly, enhancing the flavors and adding another layer of enjoyment to the meal. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, offering great recommendations that made the wine journey even more enjoyable. If youre looking for incredible value, this place is a treasure. The quality of the food and wine far exceeds what youd expect for the price. Treat yourself to a wonderful culinary experience, and dont hesitate to indulge—after all, its not just a meal; its a celebration of French cuisine!
Good food, wine flights, nice cozy atmosphere and service.
Outstanding food and service! Even my vegetarian friend indulged in a chicken dish and was glad she did. Server with beautiful French accent made it feel like we were sitting in a Paris Cafe. Lovely evening!
My wife and sister-in-law have made a yearly tradition of a New York trip and I finally was invited. This was the first stop and man, its worth it.First off, service. It was SUPER packed and they still found a way to seat us. Super chill crew.Second, they have a great list of wines. You really cant go wrong.Third, and probably most importantly, the Pistachio Goat Cheese thing OMG I want it right now.Go, now!
Excellent place discovered by accident. It was nice to be taken care of quickly since we were short on time. Will come back.
Meal was quite good. The creekstone hand cut steak tartar was fine, if a little over-seasoned. The steak frites were tasty, but the salmon was (somehow) the star of the show. Cooked medium rare with a well chosen supporting cast. Service was also good. All in all a solid spot, nothing spectacular. Nice place to take a date in that area.
First time stopping by and i was truly surprised at how great the atmosphere is, the service is great and the menu choices are awesome. Their wine selection is vast and you have to try their Pommes Frites. Highly recommend this place for anyone with their significant other. The wine and atmosphere really add to the nature of the conversation :)
The food was nothing exciting. Vibe for first dates seems nice.
Went for dinner Friday night and the restaurant was very busy. Walked in the front door and stood there for 5-10 minutes while 2-3 employees made no acknowledgement we were there for our reservation. French onion soup was ok, octopus was dead dry, hanger steak was ok, escargot was tasteless, and wine was ok. Restaurant was very understaffed and service was poor. Would not recommend, spend your money down the road at St Tropez.
Today I got a time to check this place. Was good atmosphere there, nice music. Escargot was great. Octopus was great. Duck was a little dry but tasted good. Happy to recommend that place!
My first time going to Amelie since Covid and happy to say they are just as cool as I remember. I always have a great time at Amelie. Great friendly staff, amazing wine and yummy food. A little expensive but these days where can you go in NYC that isnt.
Highly recommend the charcuterie board and wine flights. Very friendly staff, good service and vibes. Great for a meet up with friends.
Anyone seen the movie Amelie? I dont think there is any formal connection with the movie, but there are some notable similarities in my mind. The movie, made in 2001, has fun, artistic cinematography. It is set in Paris, and features a quirky, naive French girl who seeks to influence the lives of others in little ways and in the process, finds love. I think the bar is somewhat similar in that it has beautiful, contemporary decor that somehow feels classic (something you might find in Paris), the menu is reminiscent of a Paris cafe, and the bar in general feels like a perfect place for single women to come either alone or with friends, to a place frequented by locals, and have a glass of wine and possibly find love. The bar is close to NYU and though its location is excellent, it feels like a bit of a secret hiding among all the other businesses in Manhattan. I cant wait to come back. The food and my sparking wine were excellent, as was the presentation. The bartenders also spoke French.
Great mini French wine and dine
Loved this place, wandered in on my own to escape a thunderstorm and had a really nice time. The wine flights are great, only $12 for three small, well chosen glasses, and the cheese board was delicious. Nice, friendly service too. Très bien :)
Did not feel welcomed at the restaurant. Was not offered a table but a high top even though tables were available. Given an incomplete menu and had to request a dinner menu after waiting. Pushed off to the side to seat another couple. Only when I decided to leave was I offered a table.
Everything it was delicious, and affordable prices, I loved ! Friendly service ! I love everything!
Gotta give this a 5 🌟 review. Came for first time though I live just down the road. The wine flight from 4-7 was affordable and delicious. As was the goat cheese appetizer I had to wash it down. Not insanely noisy... yet. But I think the space at full capacity would still allow for audible conversation.
Food is really good, one of the best steaks Ive had in a very long time. The place is super popular and packed so the service is affected by it. Not enough staff to be attentive to everyone so had to wait a long time to get water, get our orders and get the check. The food is really the winner here so if you dont mind slow service, then worth checking out!
Absolutely gorgeous French food for the given price, worth for the shot. Nice service with prompt attention in details. Will try next time for wine list. Love it.
Five stars does not do this business justice. The sommelier was excellent and recommended impeccable pairings. The ravioli is one of the best dishes I’ve had in six months!
I loved the service, the ambience and the food. We sat at the bar because the place was packed. The bartender was busy but very friendly and attentive. Service was quicker than expected, and the quality of everything served was great. I felt the cost was very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Will definitely recommend.
This restaurant gets 5/5 stars. The night we went was a bit crowded but we sat at the bar. Our bartender was awesome, the ambiance was perfect, the music 10/10. The drinks and food was great as well. Ladies, the bathroom lighting is perfect for selfies and videos lol. P.S. Can someone please send me the music playlist, I cannot get this one song out of my head lol
Made reservations for 8:45 pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was pretty packed, although it is quite a small place. The atmosphere is hip and the food was fantastic. Wine flights after 7 pm are $16 whereas they would be $12 before that. Charcuterie boards are a must and it comes with AMAZING French bread. My husband and I ate two whole bags of that stuff. We also ordered the duck confit and Kuushi oysters, which were good as well. The charcuterie board was definitely the star.
The food was delicious. Ambiance was really nice. The wine samplers are cool as they are categorized by types of wine (i.e. Sampler of Roses). Great place for small groups, couples, or solo dining.
We started with the warm goat cheese ball with caramelized onions, which was delightful. The duck confit was delectable, and the steak aux poivre was passable but nothing special. Lovely drinks, and competent service, if somewhat slow.
Love their flight of wine deal, three samples for the price of one large glass.
Felt like I was in Paris! Awesome little French bistro. They had a great wine flight deal for HH, amazing french bread and a classic french menu. The duck confiet was incredible it was so tender and practically fell off the bone.
One star off because it was loud and the seats are so uncomfortable that I kept having to shift around in my seat every five minutes. The food however was great. I had the foie gras torchon and it was so rich and creamy. It came with three medallions so enough to share. Also got the beef tartar that was delicious. $16 for app size and $24 for entree. Both are recommended.
We come here every year for our anniversary since it is the place we had our first date. The wine is great and the food is excellent. Reservations are a must or you will be waiting a long time for a table.
We visited Amelie to celebrate JPs birthday. Great food and drink with friendly service. The oysters, duck confi, and the creme burle were amazing. Thanks Amelie for the awesome experience tonight 😁
Delightful experience. Diciouz food. Nice twists on French favorites. Plexiglass dividers between tables.
Really had a great time here. With the indoor and outdoor setup here youd think their service would suffer but the service was great. The place itself has a great vibe but most importantly their food and selection of wine was excellent. We had the Hand Cut Creekstone Beef Tartare, the chicken liver mousse and baked camembert, they were all great. Definitely stop by if youre in the area!
As a Frenchman this will sound obvious but... Yes this place is really worth the try! They have a nice selection of cheese and charcuterie, and the wine list is also pretty complete. The menu is broad: duck confit, onion soup, snails (yes!) and oysters as well. The classic steak and fries is also in there. Oh and if you never tried this... Have a plate of ravioles de Romans (its like pasta). This is very typical of Rhone region and it was the first time I had some in the US, delish!!
Amazing little spot in Greenwich Village, has all the charm (and loudness!) of a small Parisian bistro. Expect small tables, all close together, and quick and efficient service. My girlfriend and I ordered a few plates to share, and all of it was great - the goat cheese ball with pistachio, the escargots, the foie gras. They also have a very decent wine list, with lots of choices at different price points. Well definitely be going back for charcuterie and cheeses.
Nice happy hour wine flight prices with great service. Would definitely go back and try food next time as well.
I picked this restaurant hoping it’d be a really nice date spot, and it honestly blew me away. The food is exactly what you want from fancy French food - super luxurious, delicious, and of course well presented. I had the chicken liver mousse and the duck confit. The mousse was delicious, I spread it on the bread and ate it like creamy peanut butter. The duck confit was the star of the show, however. The skin was super crispy, but the meat underneath was super juicy and tender. It was also served with mushrooms and potatoes with the exact right texture to compliment the duck. There was a good variety of wines as well from different countries and regions, though I’m not an expert there. The service was super nice as well.Overall 5/5 experience for me, would highly recommend - especially for dates!
Amelie is a neighborhood gem-- with an epic happy hour from 4-7pm. You can pick any 3 wines by the glass for $12. What a find! They have great bites as well during happy hour-- a perfect after work spot. The owners and servers are all french and very knowledgable about their library of wines!
Great wine selection and love the wine cheese and meat plates that you can design yourself. very accommodating and friendly staff - quite noisy. a really unique, fun place.
Cost includes full meal, wine, tip.A great find. Smallish menu, well executed. Nice, reasonably-priced wine list. not exactly French Bistro, not exactly wine bar, not exactly restaurant. Really solid as any of those.
This place was a vibe. The energy was good, the food even better and the wine was pristine. Highly recommend for a group of friends or date night, perfect spot.
Dim lights, good vibes, great spot for a date. I recommend the wine flights to try different varieties. Chocolate mousse is to die for! Wonderful escargots- pro tip: dip your bread in the leftover buttery goodness. Le waiter parle français, à le fin de dîne, nous parlons ensemble. If you’re longing for Paris, eat here then visit Washington square park to feel like you’re at the Arc de Triumph. Merci Beaucoup.
Great atmosphere for a seasoned couple or happy hour (i.e., its loud, but bustling). We just did wine and small plates here but the dinner options looked good too. For food we got the pistachio crusted goat cheese ball (heaven!) with two Samie flights of wine (3 wines per flight). Also, ordered a bunch of crostinis. I enjoyed the little nuances like the bread in a small burlap bag, the check being brought in a French book, and that everyone woeking there spoke French. Overall, great spot to chat and engage over wine, and maybe even practice some French.
Had a fabulous time here. I had my first BONELESS WHOLE TROUT cooked to perfection! I even ate the skin. The baguette was so tasty with the escargot! The duck leg confit was good too. My friend and I finished everything! The dessert is SO SO GOOD. No matter how full you are, you MUST get the apple tatin and creme brulee topped with caramelized bananas, so silky and smooth. The staffs are so friendly, down to earth, and amazingly awesome!!! Feels like we are friends already. We wind up staying till they closed. We had so much fun. We gave our new friend a hug before leaving. Definitely will come back again!
Great food and wine. Nice atmosphere. Staff is friendly but the French waiter I had wasn’t very knowledgable about the wine. You would expect that in a wine bar.
Interesting take on Eggs benedict, it was soaked in wine which was very delicious!
The wine flights are so cute 😍 Also the Croque Monsieur Bites on the happy hour menu were unbelievable. So so good!
One of the most interesting movies I’ve watched is called Amélie. It is such a cute, strange, adorable and weird story and characters! Well, I found a restaurant called Amélie, which is a modern wine bar/lounge with French flair. The inside decoration was…well, unique. It had white cloth loosely hanging on the black-colored ceiling, with bright red bar. The bright red and white was used throughout the interior, including red and white lit wine bottles, floating on the wall.I say it was 3.5 stars, even thought we are not allowed to give a half star... We had French Onion Soup, Mussels with Fries, and Gratin de Ravioles du Royans. They were all tasy, but the Gratin was a bit too oily. I think I liked the soup out of everything. Overall, it was a good brunch. The staffs were all French, which really helped enhanced our French dining experience. They were nice and mostly left us alone until we needed something, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing brunch. Our water was filled at all time, and we did have a nice, relaxing time there. I heard they have a very popular happy hour with flight of wines, but we liked the quite, peaceful brunch time. I can see this is a great spot for a romantic “rendezvous” or just hanging out with your family and friend. Read my full review on the restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.
A really wonderful French wine bar with a modern European twist. Wine flights are to die for any time of the day. The appetizers also work well with the wine choices as well. Bread, as provided with the food is excellent. Charcuterie, escargot, fromage, mussels, soups, salad. You cant go wrong!

Great spot
Upon walking in it was very inviting. The decoration and display of this restaurant is excellent. Not clutters and not to little. We were greeted and seated right away. Keep in mind this was at 3pm in the day on a Tuesday. The wine selection is huge. You will definitely find something youll enjoy. The waiter service is outstanding.I got the.Croque-madame - which includes the following.Warm ham and gruyere sandwich served with egg on top and mixed greens. Before I get into the food I want to also make a quick point. I my sandwich was taking quite a while. And before hand I already already ordered 1 beer. They came by my table and said were sorry heres another beer on us. The chef is remaking yours to perfectionThat right there is great service! and it shows that the cook is a perfectionist. GREAT! just like me when I cook.Moving onto the sandwich. It was in fact made perfectly. The egg was perfect, cheese was perfectly melted, bread was fresh, mixed green salad was fresh and tasty. This place is 100% my go to place for french food in Manhattan. The price is right and the food quality is outstanding. I also want to say that even at 3pm on a Tuesday. This place filled up quite a bit. Its a popular spot and the reason for that is. Exceptional customer service and amazing food quality. Will I be back? without question. I will return in a few months when Im back in Manhattan.Would I recommend it? I think my review is quite obvious, YES I would if you want authentic fresh amazing french cuisine.Food: Much above averageDecor: updated and nice.Customer service: top notch!Cleanliness: very clean.Bathrooms: N/A didnt use it.
Awesome spot for couples and very small groups, if youre in a big party youre better off somewhere with more space. Food is delicious and the wine flights are the best thing on a Friday night.
A modern, hip wine bar and bistro in Greenwich Village with a bright red interior. Come for happy hour where they feature various flights of wine at a great price. The food served here surprisingly good as well, with takes on traditional French fare. The Duck Leg Confit is perfectly cooked with a crisp skin and juicy interior, and complimented by fingerling potatoes and mushrooms. Dont skip dessert either; the crème brûlée is to die for.
This restaurant is very pleasant and the background music is super. The food was great because beside it is a French Restaurant the portions are big and definitely delicious. The waiters are very joyful and they care about the customers .
Beautiful experience! Food was carefully prepared and thoughtfully presented. Cozy room. The staff could not have been more attentive.
In love with this cute french bar/restaurant. Good choices of wine. Workers were kind and social. Sat at the bar during Happy Hour. HH was great! Tight place but what place in NY isnt. I would definitely come back and try more wines.
Staff was borderline incompetent. Wait staff apparently doesnt write orders down and tend to forget what is ordered. Ordered the same drink twice - the first time they forgot and the second they made it wrong. Later had to get check from the bar tender because the wait staff seemed more interested in each other than the customers.
Amelie is a charming bistro and wine bar with fantastic renditions of french classics like coq au vin, salmon tartare, steak with shallots, charcuteries, cheese and more. They have a superb wine list by the glass to suit nearly any taste and a knowledgeable, predominantly french staff to help navigate the list. Worth a visit!
I have visited Amelie several times now, both pre-pandemic and during COVID. The staff is always professional, friendly, and knowledgeable.I gave them my preferences (dry, full-bodied, less tannic, etc.), and they delivered with a great Rioja and Malbec that didn’t break the bank.Ambiance is intimate, makes for a great date spot or happy hour with friends. Will definitely be coming back
This place is fine but not special. Wines were subpar and flatbread was bad compared to the place next door that is also cheaper (8th street wine cellar)
Fun place - great food, enjoyed the wine flights; go for happy hour
Love Amelie Wine Bar. I often go to this restaurant and I never been unhappy about anything. I always have a great time and the food is really good! Worst the try! Definitely!
Great spot for girlfriends dinner/drinks time! For the Happy hour, they give small wine tasting 13$ three options of wine. The most delicious duck leg confit Ive ever tried! Will definitely come back. Friendly spot with great vibes!
Finally we found a place that had it all. Excellent service, excellent food (escargot is amazing). Live the wine flights. The hangar steak is great. Will be back for sure.
Delicious food, high quality, super nice staff and really authentic French food. I really appreciate the authenticity of the cuisine, which is great! Money was really worth it! Merci beaucoup!
Got some Sangria and the Black Sea Bass. Its a tad bit expensive but absolutely delicious food.
Run! Don’t walk! For their happy hour prices. We took a wine flight for only $13!
Great everything: food, wine, music!
Really nice spot for great drinks and small plates. Great recommendations from staff but they provide European style service (you have to track them down for more drinks or the check).
Great food and service! The foie gras was awesome for those who like it.
Each wine we had was fantastic, not always the case at wine bars. Great expressions of every French region, so good! Moules et frites also 🔥🔥
My friend and I went there earlier in the evening, so it wasnt packed which was really nice! Staff were all really nice and helped us with a big smile on their face. The cheese platter was cute and yummy
Everything we had was great.Escargot, octopus, oystersI also had the lamb burger which was so juicy my neighbor got soaked...tasted delicious though
Great eclectic menu with french influence. Knowledge and remarkably unpretentious service, although be prepared for when your check is placed on the table inside a Baudelaire paperback.
Food and wine are fine, but BEWARE the small print. The throw 4.0% onto every food item and then offer you to pay in cash to remove it. Very sneaky and there is no way the fees are that high...even with AMEX.
Its a lovely set up. We sat in the outdoor space with increase in Covid cases. The food, wine and the hospitality was amazing! Will definitely visit again.
Didnt live up to the hype. Uncomfortable seats, sub par, salty French food. Since flight during happy hour was a GREAT deal though (and tons of fun! ).
Very delicious French food and supper friendly staff. Wine flights is a good value choice of want an assortment of French wine ;)
This place is amazing. Great romantic vibe, dimly lit...We ordered:The burrataThe dinner size beef tartareThe coq au vinThe burrata was a cool concept but missing a salty element. The beef tartare was out of this world (on par with the best Ive ever had in Mexico). The coq au vin is also outstanding and super duper tender with a sauce thats perfectly rendered. The menu here is worth a try. We got a bottle of Cabernet to pair with the meal.
Most fun wine bar in NYC. PHENOMENOL friendly staff, gifted at helping select you a wine, great, mostly European wine list, tasty food, fun scene.Been here dozens of times.
Place is amazing super lit very popular we dont want there on a Wednesday and there was quite a bit of wait but I didnt wait long as the manager has everything under control it was expediting people being seated promptly. They have great wine selection and the crowd is very young and trendy, I definitely would recommend this place to anyone I was looking for great wine and a great time. They also have a menu and a very intricate food selection. The place is french but the food didnt speak so much french. It was certainly American fusion. But I loved it and the people are great and friendly. The staff is knowledgeable about all the wines and food served. I definitely recommend it for a bite and a good time.
I had wine flights and amazing charcuterie plate , place was packed with great service. They have around 60 wines by the glass , so for me as a wine lover that is spot to be.
Came here for a lunch but their kitchen wasn’t open so I just had some cheese and meat before their kitchen opened and it was phenomenal. Definitely going to have the wine with cheese next time but highly recommend it.
Came here for drinks and snacks. We got the muscles and mushroom flatbread and both were great!
Atmosphere is great and so is the staff!
Always friendly service and wonderful food. A little loud sometimes but a very fun atmosphere. Tables outside as well.
Food is super tasty! Well worth the $$ paid. Menu is not super long, so youre not left struggling to figure out what to order.
Great place to practice your French! Delicious cocktails and fabulous French food! I had the escargot and Eggs Meurette! Amazing!!!
The food was good (we did Restaurant Week menu) but our server was very rude.
Omg. The cheese ball and eric flight of wine was amazing. $12 flights during happy hour and discounted apps. Everything was amazing.
The food was incredible and was brought out quickly with great, if crowded, location and atmosphere. Would eat here again any day of the week
Happy hour has awesome deals! Burrata is absolutely delicious. Service in all aspects was phenomenal with everyone in the restaurant, not just our server. Amazing music, peaceful atmosphere. I wish I lived in NYC so I could visit more often!
Love their food and wine selections at a very reasonable price range.
Great place! Delicious food, excellent service, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices.
Great happy hour deals! Goat cheese ball is a must have, seared octopus is also very good, loved banana crème brûlée!
Service is excellent! They even gave me some recommendations for bars with Rnb music that I asked about
One of my favorite brunch spots. Great menu that leans savory lunch, and they have a bottomless mimosa option
Good food and variety of wine
Great food and wine. Pleasant atmosphere. Staff is friendly. We can say all most good.
Im sad the coq au vin is no longer on the menu. It was sooooo good. Please bring it back!Really thoughtful and welcoming people. Good wine and food.
Definitely come here for happier hour where there are $12 wine flights. Great atmosphere, service and food.
Great really friendly service, quite different to Paris. Delicious food - big portions! Cute, romantic atmosphere.
