The deli staff are the only nice and helpful people in the store. Must double check expiration dates and that items, dairy in particular, are unopened. The prices are outrageous and likely barely squeak by the legal limit for markups.A few years ago when they lost their lease the neighborhood rallied to prevent a wallgreens from taking over the store. Won’t happen again.

Today, July 9, around noon, but not the first time its been an issue, I had very negative experiences with staff of this store. The cashiers are (with only 2 exceptions and neither was there today) by far among the most rude in this neighborhood at any store (and there are several places where staff is impolite), and the product restocking personnel and store manager are just as rude. And to be clear, I am a senior citizen and always polite to store staff.Today, I turned down the produce aisle to get tomatoes from the refrigerated area and just as I was approaching, an employee pushed a cart in directly in front of me--he never even looked up. So I waited on the other side of the aisle while he removed carrots. Another employee appeared and sort of asked if I needed to get to the other side. I said yes. He said something in Spanish; the guy said something, then moved. I said I was waiting for him to finish. No apology. I said thank you. Then, I got to the check out. The store was basically empty because its so hot outside. Only one cashier had a customer--there were 4 or 5 cashiers in conversation. The cashier at the line I was at didnt even look up and continued the conversation with a woman (who may have been a manager--not a cashier at a register). Finally she asked if I needed a bag. I said no, she turned away again. Dropped my receipt on the area with my groceries, turned away again. Then as I was bagging, the manager looked at me, said something in Spanish and all the others turned and looked at me.The cashiers and other staff are routinely rude. They think its okay to talk to each other than serve their customers. The people restocking routinely block the aisles preventing shoppers from going through. And, unfortunately, I also do think there is a very high degree of racism against anyone who is not Latino. The prices are ridiculously high--higher than Whole Foods in midtown by $2 or more on most items (and WF has high prices) and higher than Amazon Fresh. Except for the produce and deli, the selection of products is very limited.I note that the people who have given good reviews on this site are Local Guides. That speaks for itself.Going forward, I will avoid this store and post on my building FB page telling others to do the same.

The place was well lit and lively. The products overall were decently priced. The bagel I got was very cheap and tasted okay. Check out was smooth and the staff was friendly. I think this is well deserving of a 4-star review but prices may be a bit high. The produce and fish is relatively trustworthy although prices may be high. This store is located near the 181 sts subway station. The A train serves that station. Employees were nice and didn’t give any trouble. the store can be dirty. In conclusion, this grocery store is decent and deserving of a 4 star rating.

I’ve been shopping here for a few years now and I don’t know what’s changed but everyone working there seems happier? Or more friendly at least? Sale prices are great, regular prices are about average for the neighborhood, produce is generally good and the deli is clean and well stocked (also the deli guys are super nice).

Ozzies Fresh Market is a nice little grocery store off of Fort Washington Avenue in Hudson Heights. The place always appears clean, well-organized & well-cared for. Also, the aisles are nice and large, so you dont need to awkwardly navigate around anyone while youre shopping. However, Im dropping a star because the staff dont always seem that friendly. Ive only been here a couple of times (maybe Im just catching people when they arent in a great mood), but in looking at the other reviews here, it seems Im not the only shopper who has gotten the vibe that the staff are bothered by the customers. This, for me, has happened specifically at check-out.This morning (for example), there were two check-out gals who had no customers in their lanes, but neither lane light was on, so I politely waited to be signaled that someone was ready for me. It took way longer than was comfortable for someone to acknowledge me. One of the ladies was playing with her Apple Watch. The other was organizing her station, and despite making eye contact with me, didnt signal me to move forward to check-out (or head over to her colleagues lane to get taken care of). Again, there were no other customers being checked-out, so it felt strange. Otherwise, I do like this place, they have a nice selection of items and I like that stores layout is inviting and that the space is well-kept.

A year ago, I wrote a review about this store. I was new to the area and found the store to be clean and well organized with good selection of organic produce and organic pantry items. This is still very true and the pantry items are increasingly “healthy”in nature with lots of gluten free options, which I appreciate greatly. I am also happy to see that the meat selections have improved some with higher-end cuts being offered more frequently. I consistently wait for sales on eggs, meats, produce and the organic pantry items that normally buy. The food is fresh. The stock clerks in the aisles are very helpful, but the staff at the check out counters still need to display more courtesy and appreciation to the customer base; “hello” and “thank you”, even when prompted is still rarely heard.

The store is very expensive. It is much more expensive than high end markets elsewhere in the city. The meat, fruits and vegetables are good quality, but the cashier’s and other store employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. They don’t respond to any greeting and never say Thank you. Complaining to the manager does nothing, Many of my neighbors mentioned the same thing and like me will only shop there in an emergency. ☹️

This store is very disrespectful to black people. I came with my family; boyfriend and daughter. I gave the lady $10 at the register and she started panicking checking if the $10 was real…holding it up to the light. Don’t disrespect me at your minimum wage job where you don’t even see $10/hr. We LIVE in this neighborhood and can afford this rent. You only work here, you can’t afford this area so stop disrespecting people who are breaking bread with your business.

Another exhausting shopping experience at Ozzie’s. They get two stars because sometimes the deals are very good. But you have to police everything - signs about sales aren’t always reflected in the price the register rings up, and the cashiers are quite salty about checking their flyer to find the sale price. Tonight a new item which had a price tag ON IT rang up for over $2 more than the sticker. The cashier’s reaction was a “what do you want me to do about it?” gesture, and I had to say if it’s not that sticker price, I don’t want it.

Good NYC super market. The store went through a major renovation a few years ago and it is much better than it used to be - with an upgrade on the refrigeration areas, quality of the meats and fish, more space and food options. There is also more of an attempt to cater to part of the neighborhood population with expanded vegetable, fruits and deli sections, all of which are nicely stocked and displayed. It is an important part of the neighborhood and I’m glad they have made all the improvements.

This is a well stocked supermarket. It went through a major renovation several years ago. Expanded and greatly improved the fresh fruit & veg produce area. Expanded the deli and prepared food section and bakery goods. Good selection in the meat department. Lots of condiments, soups, pasta. Large dairy department. Large selection of snack food and cereal.

Lived here 60 years. Market Nice, Clean, pretty well Stocked. However take advantage of area, and rarely have sales. Usually only Butter, & Mozzarella. Rarely Groceries. Go to Chain, to save 40-60%. Fruits, Vegetables, lowest quality. Limited to cheapest Mexico has to offer, at Premium Prices. Rare Sale items, ring up incorrectly, with cashiers willing to wrestle you to the ground, rather than admit error. Very rude, & nasty cashiers, made nastier, because they do not understand English, and I do not speak Spanish.

I try to avoid shopping at Ozzies when possible because of the rude treatment of their employees towards customers. Most staff dont even acknowledge you even if you say hello, thank you or have a good day. The cash register staff are too busy having conversations amongst themselves while checking out customers. Since they are talking with the person I believe is their manager, its obviously with the his approval and knowledge. Staff at Franks across the street know me by name. What a difference.

Review №15

The store itself is clean with good choices and reasonable prices. HOWEVER, Ive learned that when shopping here you have to constantly check the price of the items you are buying while they are being rung at the register. It has happened too often that prices marked turn out more expensive when rung. You constantly have to raise it with the cashier for them to correct it and give you the correct price. I have learned that sooo many people have the same complaints. A lot of the cashiers are unfriendly and more so the managers, bordering on rude. It is a shame as our community rallied to save this location a few years back.

Nothing special. A typical/average grocery store. Very convenient for the area. More affordable than Franks (a more gourmet grocery store around the corner), with most of the items youd need for routine grocery shopping, though produce and deli foods are not as fresh or as quality as they are at Franks, and with less variety. Surprisingly, this Associated actually also has a very large selection of craft beer (even better than Franks). The cleanliness and staff leave something to be desired; cashiers are frequently on their phones or talking to each other, giving the impression you are wasting their time as a customer. That said, its just a grocery store. The convenience and prices are worth the space and service that leave something to be desired.Advice: dont buy Associated-brand food products. They may be less expensive than the products they imitate, but theres a reason. Its extremely processed...Associated-brand ice cream in particular tastes like cardboard...

Cashiers tend to be rude and unfriendly. Today, at 9:30, I was looking for a cashier to check my groceries out. The cashier in front of aisle 5 had no people in her line but she was on her phone so I asked her if she was open. She did not look at me nor answer me verbally. Instead, she just kind of signaled with her shoulders that she was. At no moment during the transaction did she offer a greeting or look us in the eye. We offered greetings and she did not respond. She did not help bag our groceries. She said thank you, despondently, when she gave me my receipt but did not even establish eye contact. There are a lot complaints in these reviews about Ozzies cashiers. It is discouraging that Ozzies does not seem interested in doing anything about it. We do not ask for much: speak to us, look us in the eye when you speak to us, and say good morning back. Is that too much to ask your cashiers to do?

Decent selection of items, but not the greatest prices unless on sale. Produce however is usually fresher and better stocked than at other neighborhood places. Biggest problem here are that the aisles are small. Last time I was here the aisles were also lined with boxes. Thats a bad combination when you also have a few rude customers who are in a hurry, as they pretend youre not there while they ram you with their carts or their bodies trying to get what they want.Overall I greatly prefer Key Food for a shopping experience. I did find a few things at Ozzies though that I cant find elsewhere, like refrigerated bone broth.

Its a clean cute, gourmet-like grocers. Its complete with what might be called a sandwich counter that has lagsana, roasted, and baked meats, various salads, as well as, specialty items, and baked non-refrigeration-required pastries. In the produce section theres a healthy mix of organic and non- organic fruits and veggies. I wish they had more gluten-free bread. They only have two kinds that Ive seen: tortilla and corn arepas. Those are yummy, but I sometimes would like a traditional sandwich. The staff is always nice and quite helpful.

I continually get ripped off by the unfriendly young cashiers who are not at all helpful. you have to watch them as they misinterpret items and prices. And if you take it up with the managers, they side with the cashiers.Yesterday, I handed a cashier the only $20 in my wallet and we discussed ad nausea um when she gave me change back from a $10.OF COURSE the manager sided with the cashier. They counted the register (how do i know she didnt make a mistake ?) and they asked me to come back in the early morning to review the video tape. I didnt. I work.I KNOW I only had the $20.Im writing this because I shop here most everyday and Im furious about this.Just watch as they scan your items and its probably safer if you use your credit cards.
