Haven’t been in almost 10 years and I was pleasantly surprised. Met some friends for a birthday party and we had fun.All the door men were extremely friendly and cool. Probably won’t be back only because I’m from the lower east side, however if I’m in the neighborhood I’ll definitely be back

Had catering style food (warming trays of appetizers) in the private party room in the basement. Food was alright. Beer prices are nice for NYC. But having a private party bar in the basement with a personal bartender is awesome.Overall cool place.

Jake’s is undoubtedly my favorite bar in NYC. the entire staff, especially the manager Bekim, are so incredible and friendly are the reason why I come back time and time again. Not to mention the deals they offer like every night?? Will come here as long as I live in NYC.

I’ve never met a waitress so fun and engaging as Katie. My friends and I literally came back the next day just to see her. She’s hilarious and super sweet, in addition to just being a wonderful server. She honestly has the personality of a great bartender. Will continue to return for Katie!

Jake’s Dilemma is a classic NYC bar in the upper west side. Great place for happy hour, sports games, and almost always a good time. A local hang with a vibrant crowd.

How can you go wrong with $3 bud light seltzer and a $5 tap beer?It’s your basic neighborhood bar on Amsterdam nothing fancy and always has a crowd drinking, playing pool and foosball.Service was great, the bartender and manager were super friendly. Always a favorite stop when in town.

Jake’s Dilemma on the Upper West Side of Manhattan is a fantastic bar for cheap drinks, dancing, and watching sports.And you should also head there with proper expectations. It’s not somewhere you’re gonna order intricate cocktails, have a business meeting, or read a book.It’s a young bar with loud music, cheap drinks, and sports on the TVs at all times.Jake’s Dilemma has some negative reviews on Google & Yelp, but I think most of those people just had unrealistic expectations. Also, a good chunk of those reviews are from 4-6 years ago, and I think things have improved since then. On a beautiful Tuesday night, I was looking for something to do in the city that never sleeps. After visiting 2 other bars that had rude or tired employees, we happened to find Jakes dilema. Immediately, we felt at ease, and Wade welcomed us and treated us like the happy celebratory humans we were. This was a beautiful way to discover a new place to hang out while in the city. I am hoping we can start an open mic night or something, so I will be coming back to speak to Wade and the manager about that. My only complaint is having to go down a flight of steps to get to the restroom. Its not fun when youre tipsy to have to go up two steps, down about 12 steps, and then down 2 more steps. Yes, I counted it was actually a running joke all night with us (though my count may be off, I was really tipsy at this point.) Overall, I really enjoyed this place, and its all because of the bartender and how amazing he is. Thank you, Wade!!!

There were so many drunk patrons blocking the sidewalk, the security guard didn’t make them move, so I couldn’t walk by with my stroller. I had to walk at the edge of the bike lane, and almost got ran over by three bicyclist. It is Jake’sdilemma.

Our waitress, Katie, took such great care of us to make sure we had an amazing experience! The pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries were a slam dunk at her review!

We absolutely love the vibes at Jakes dilemma. Great place to watch sports, grab some great chicken tenders, and dance the night away with friends. The staff is also absolutely phenomenal! Katie helped us this evening and brought such great energy to the group while remaining attentive. Definitely will be going back

There’s a happy hour and drink specials everyday! I got the smothered tots to eat which were fine but nothing over the top. Good food menu though all things considered. Plenty of TVs too to catch any sporting events. Very nice spot to hang out

I was a big fan of this place. The vibe was really cool and there was plenty of choice behind the bar. The chicken bites I had were pretty decent as well. I went here on a Sunday and it was $5 draught all night which is a steal around these parts. I will definitely be coming back here.

Only thing is good is a live music! Food is okay, wine is also okay. Service is kind of slow but even that for the night I went to with my friends was crowded so I kind of put up with it.

If you go get something in a bottle, can, or on tap. The well drinks are the weakest Ive ever had. Multiple people I was with had the same experience. The service was also terrible, but there are few things more unethical a bar can do than cheat people on their drinks. Its too bad. They had a great crowd and a good dj.

I was invited, the people I was with definitely made the ambiance, my son ordered some tatter tots and they were really good.

The server lady whose name is Anita was the best I could imagine—friendly, attentive, quick, you tell me. The bar has a very chill ambiance in a spacious setting. Foods are definitely above average. But I gotta be honest with this dilemma: their draught beers taste watery.

Great place for a chill environment with a fairly young crowd. Their tater tots are the bomb. They also have a wide space where you can play beer pong with friends. Everyone is pretty friendly. When its busy, its really busy so make sure you plan your seats unless you dont mind standing

This was my first time going to this place. I came out to celebrate a good friends birthday. This place is a bar slash pub. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the food and drinks are really good. The setting reminds me of a college hangout. I had a great time and I will be back.

Do not go if 25+. I asked for a menu with prices after being charged $10 for a guiness. Of course they could not provide this to me and the head bartender proceeded to call on security. I was neither loud nor belligerent but this is how I was treated. I was then thrown out of the bar and given no explanation. Utter rudeness and a sense of entitlement from the bartender. For what its worth the bouncer was just doing his job and did not know all the details. Its the tall short culy haired blonde that has the god complex. This place is already low end, catering to the drunken college crowd, but I always enjoyed my time here...until tonight.

Did you know jakes has a beautiful private room downstairs?! and i mean beautiful. like Spanish/Moroccan style decor. and with a separate bathroom from the rest of the bar. such a hidden gem! the service was FANTASTIC. theres a bar in the room and waitstaff for food. super cute everything. highly recommended. a far cry from the beer pong upstairs, it was really really sophisticated and nice.

We go to Jakes Dilemma every first Wednesday of the month for our companys Staff Happy Hour. Bartender Julian is amazing and he always makes us feel welcomed, he always remembers what we like! We like the drinks, atmosphere and the other staff members as well. Definitely recommend?

Over the summer, my friends and I stopped by for old times sake. They set up what were essentially divided booths, so it felt as if we were in a small semi-private dining area. The food was good and the drinks inexpensive, but tasty. Great memories!

From the same owners of Stumble Inn, Jake’s Dilemma has a similar concept of dive bar/college like feel but is definitely less fun and crowded. $7 a drink. 3.25/5 stars as a day bar.

Biggest dump on the planet. Bouncer assaulted me on multiple occasions because he is a thug. If management cares at all about reputation and lawsuits fire the framed glasses bouncer immediately.

This place is great for watching a game! Our waitress Katie made the experience 10X more fun. She was so sweet and fun to chat with. The food was delicious and the drinks were great! Reasonable prices too. Fun music bumpin & dive bar vibes. They also changed the TV for the game we wanted. Well definitely be back next time we have a game to watch.

This place is always great. Good deals on happy hour. The staff are great, funny and inviting. This place picks up very fast and Ive come here for years with others and there never has been a disappointing night leaving from this bar.

Very poor service. My girl and I went in the middle of the day on Saturday and were met with the worse service Ive ever experienced. We ordered waters and an order of fries and had to wait 20 minutes for the waters. After that we got beer and shots, which never showed up. At that point we left, having never received our drinks or ordered food.The chuckleheaded bouncer chased us down the block telling us to pay our tab and thats not how it works.

Been going to Jakes for years. Good happy hour specials. Decent amount of televisions for sports. They changed their back room from a chill library to tables. Theyve also now added a bar all the way in the back.

I love this place! Best part, Katie is the best server, she is so fun!!!!! We always have the best time here and the drinks are great value. If you are in the area you have to check it out, trust me. HH is extensive and a great deal.

My best friend and I love this neighborhood spot for the PICKLE BACK SHOTS!Nothing super special about Jakes pickle back shots, but its our spot for them.Friday and Saturday nights are really fun and crowded but make for a fun atmosphere to play beer pong and relive your college weekend memories.It draws a fun and friendly crowd -- guys who just want to dominate the pong tables or girls in groups. Staff is nice; and Ive never waited too long for a drink ;)

Love this place! Thats gonna be my must every time Ill visit NY. They have good beer selection, great atmosphere, TVs showing games, you can always find a nice quiet table to sit and most importantly - BEER PONG TABLES! Love it.

A bar that doesnt accept other peoples beliefs.You are supposed to feel safe in an establishment, but the staff make you feel like you are not welcome. Would rather drink out of my own shoe.

Go on a weeknight and you get a mostly local crowd. Good mix of students and young professionals. Weekends get more of people coming in from the suburbs. Barfood is good, nice ambiance. You also get a lot of student tourists from all over coming in, so its a good atmosphere to meet people looking to mingle.

First and foremost, I have to say that not only is this place super fun, with great food, but their staff is amazing! Bekim went above and beyond to help me out when I asked for suggestions regarding food and beer.Not only was I satisfied, but I was super impressed with how knowledgeable he was in his recommendations. I would definitely recommend this as a great spot to have some drinks with friends and enjoy some awesome food. Ask for Bekim, you wont be disappointed!!

Jakes is a staple of the upper west side, always good drinks and a good time. The servers named Hannah and Drew always makes sure me and my friends have a good time and they go above and beyond.

Complaint 7/27 10pm -A party of 6 of us wanted to sit outside here and we were approached by the bouncer who claimed to be the manager. We presented identification for our service dog, and the vest but he claims it is not allowed. This is against the rules of the Association of Disabled Americans, and the rude manager gave no real justification except that he doesnt consider my dog a service dog. This place and manager will be reported to the ADA. I hope this review shows what a poor judge of character this place employs.

Food and drinks were great! However, since the kitchen isnt in the same building it took over an hour to get our food. An hour is just unacceptable. The happy hour specials are great!

I arrived at Jakes yesterday at approximately 3pm with my dog, and we grab a table outside under the window. Its important to note that there was not a single other person sitting outside. I go inside with a collapsible water bowl and ask the bartender to fill it up for my dog. I order a beer and give the bartender my credit card AND my drivers license. NOTE: Bartender stated that there was no table service outside - too early and nobody to do it. I return to my dog (a 13 year old 55 bound mix), and enjoy my first beer. A gentlemen arrives about 15 minutes later and sits at the table immediately besides my table, and we begin to chat. He immediately takes a liking to my dog, and we enjoy each others company. A few others arrive and sit on the other side of the door in the outdoor seating section.Were there about an hour, and 4 or 5 beers later between myself and my new friend from Scotland, when an employee of Jakes Dilemma comes outside and approaches me. He smiles and asks, what kind of a dog is that? I tell him that the dog is a mix. He then says that dogs are not allowed in the outside patio. Stunned (because 99% of bars in the neighborhood have absolutely no issue with it), I ask the man why? He says its their policy. Fair enough. I ask him the obvious question, why did it matter what kind of dog he is, to which he begins nervously stammering about Service Animals only. I point out that its perfectly legal for dogs to sit in the outdoor cafe portions, but I also acknowledge that it is the businesses right to choose not to allow it.This situation begs a few questions - namely, why did the bartender fill up a dog bowl and give it to me if dogs arent allowed? Why did it take an hour to come out and make us leave? The dog was a perfect gentleman, sitting quietly by my side, so why after 5 drinks and over an hours time did this suddenly become an issue? Particularly in light of the FACT that nobody outside complained, and in fact aside from my new friend, probably didnt even notice the dog was there? To non dog people, youve probably stopped reading, but I am a dog person, and this is simply comical. I had no problem honestly as the bars on Amsterdam Avenue are plentiful, and actually have servers come out and serve you, instead of requiring you go inside to get your beverage. I go in and pay my tab, and as I come back out, the Scottish gentlemen is also getting ready to leave. I ask him why, and he says because the guy that came out and had me leave was a c&nt, and he didnt want to give them his business! He ended up joining me a block up at Dead Poet!So, to Jakes Dilemma, I say, fare thee well. I, my family, my friends and co-workers will certainly never return while this policy is in place. Cant wait for Frank Macs to open across the street!

Reason For Coming:I came to this establishment as a guest at a birthday party.—————————————————————————Pros : (Space, Options, Decent Seating, Exclusive Private Room)The establishment provides a private room for private events (I paid $80 to intend it; You should ask the actual store owner for more details [I had a party of 12-15), which was nice to see since I would not expect most bars to have such sections within their place.They provided us with food and an open bar (and the open bar was open). They were allowing us to choose which drinks we wanted. The only downside for this is the time limit they set for these events, which was 3 hours. After the 3 hours, they send you back upstairs to enjoy the open music with the rest of the folks there.On the main floor, there are two sections from which to grab drinks—making getting yourself a drink conventional and not a hassle. Regarding the seating arrangement, they have more than a moderate enough seats for people there.Out of all the sports bars I’ve ever been to, this one was the most decent in arrangements.——————-——————-——————-——————-I wouldn’t mind coming to this bar and grabbing 1-2 drinks on a casual off day but just going there for night outings. I wouldn’t come through, as Afro-beat & Caribbean Music (The one thing that draws me to stay at any establishment for more than one drink was rarely played there.

If youd like a pitcher of Guinness for $12 and good food at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. Cool crowd, been here a few times with friends and it always ended in a good time.

Oh what to say about Jakes...basically its a frat bar. Beer pong in the back. Tons of dudes all the time. Drink specials are good if youre looking for specials on pitchers. The picklebacks are actually pretty good here too.

Tried to go with a group of friends, but was told by the bouncer that my drivers license signature was too bold, so I was denied entry. I have been there in the past and its quite alright, but likely will never go again.

Fun uptown dive bar. Chatty crowd, beer pong tables, very college atmosphere. There are private rooms and such if you want to host a party.

I have come to this place many times, and the truth is that I love it. The atmosphere is good, the beer is cheap. A while ago they stopped serving my favorite beer (mango kart) but thats no reason to stop going.

Its a good bar in a nice area. Has a younger crowd and 3 beer pong tables. Drinks are reasonably priced and its a great place for large groups.

Nice place. We ordered chicken wings and there was some sort of mixup in the kitchen but without hesitation we were refunded and they were very polite. Will go back to try those wings!

Lots of space and tvs, great for watching sports. The bar has beer pong and a few other college activities. The basement is great for private parties.

Tommy at the bar is “easy on the eyes” to say the least. The bar is cute. I’ve been here about 3 times total. I’ve never had a complaint. I will return.

Ive been denied here a few times for wearing gym clothes (while everyone else was wearing the same thing inside but they arrived earlier in the day). Last time I was there the bouncer was extremely strange and physically threatened a friend of a friend so we left. Will prob never go back

When in the upper west this is my place to go but after last night I’m not sure if I can comeback! Bartender was so rude and it was unnecessary what he did. Shame. I wish they hire real experienced bartenders but no :(

The layout is much better than at Gin Mill with more favorable happy hour pricing during particular stretches of the year. That being said, the money ends up in the same pockets at the end of the day.

Recently started having live music which is awesome. They have private rooms, outfoor seating, beer pong, solid food and cheap beer.

They dont have a pool table, but tuesdays are half off on beers and shots, and they have beer pong tables. food looks kinda good too.

The prices were great, it was suprising to find them that low. I would highly recommend them to anyone and it seems like they have different deals all the time so would like to check out what they do on other days of the week.

Our waitress Zoe L. was excellent 👌The food and drinks were on point and priced reasonable for the UWS and on a Sunday afternoon.I really enjoyed the wings with sauce on the side. Highly recommend for an outing with friends.

A local fixture, host to events like Speakeasy Shakespeare and trivia night. Has some quiet spaces for folks who are into that, and some livelier spaces if thats your vibe.Also, hilariously cheap for a bar where it is with the selection and atmosphere it has.

Booked The Oak Cellar for a big group get-together yesterday and had a great time! We set up the event with Christine M. from the Events Department ahead of time and she made it such an easy and simple process. She was truly a pleasure to work with. Beckham was our bartender and he did an amazing job as well! Definitely well liked by all of our guests. We’ll definitely consider Jake’s Dilemma again for another big group outing.

Disaster. Do not go here. Went to a friends birthday party here. The mixed drinks are cheap college bar bad, and the service is atrocious. If you arent being rudely told to stand elsewhere by a server or ignored by a bartender, you are being told by security that you are in one of the seemingly neverending spots in the bar that you are also not allowed to stand, or placing your drink somewhere that you are not allowed to place it. To top it off, the bartenders lost one of our credit cards that was given to hold the tab open (our fault, obvious mistake to let anyone hold any of your belongings at this place).Absolutely no reason to go here whatsoever

Terrible experience, went there for a fantasy draft and the food was terrible. We paid about 70 dollars each plus tip for garbage food. Then the waitress was fine at first, then towards the end of our time she became really rude and literally threw us out. Then yo top all of that off the staff took home the food we didn’t even touch. So we paid for their dinner. Never going there again.
