Great dive bar with really good food. I got the fish and chips and they were very tasty, fairly priced too. staff was super nice and the ambiance was great. Also shots on the house every once in a while. Kind of annoying having to open the door from the corner but not a deal breaker haha would recommend!

I walked by Fish Market probably 100 times since I’ve lived in the financial district. Many of my neighbors and friends told me about the place but I never went until recently. It’s now absolutely one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. The staff are incredible, the food is amazing and the free Jameson shots make me happy. I love the variety of the menu and the fun atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!!!

We loved our evening at Fish Market! An unassuming local bar that has delicious food and amazing service! Our server, John, was so friendly & pleasant! He gave us recommendations on the menu, Jameson shots on the house, and even gave me a little extra wine after I accidentally spilled some on the table (oops!). The atmosphere is so chill. No frills. Hands down one of the best home style Thai restaurants disguised as a dive bar. Friendly service and if you hang out long enough you’ll get a free shot of whiskey. Alright, let’s get serious for a second. The shattered door with no handle is one thing, but I’m talking about the homestyle Malaysian kitchen that brews hours long Beef Rendang in the back of this unassuming dive. You’re never gonna miss when coming here, sometimes packed shoulder to shoulder, other times quiet only to be populated by a few tourists and the family that owns the spot.Jeff the owner is the nicest guy in town, always making sure everyone is taken care of 😏10 out of 10.

Vibe was weird. Super uncomfortable experience. Never given a 1 star review till now.Bar was a bit crowded so we walked in, said hi to our friends who had already gotten a few rounds, then went to the bathroom line before ordering a drink. They tapped us on the arm and said “YOU HAVE TO GET A DRINK BEFORE USING THE BATHROOM” then screamed across the bar, finger pointed down on our heads “HEY. MAKE SURE THESE THREE BUY A DRINK BEFORE USING THE RESTROOM. HIM, HIM, AND HER”So one of us buys a drink. The dude follows us and goes “no. All three of you have to buy a drink.”And then points on our heads again. And says “this one and this one”We’re like “ok can the girl in our group pee?” Nope. Everyone needs a drink. Forget the fact that our group already ordered food and drinks.Place was weird for other reasons but that stuck out. Just be like “hey sorry we have a pretty strict bathroom policy, do you mind buying a drink first?” instead of pointing on a girl’s head and announcing to the bar she can’t pee.

I was surprised about this place, The Fish Market. I found this place online through Yelp. I initially thought that it was a restaurant, but when I showed up there with my friend, I realized that it was a bar.We went in anyway because I was really looking forward to trying the crispy fried rice with chicken. My friend was game to try anything on the menu. He had their burger with fries. The food was surprisingly very good! I thought my dish was very tasty. My friend liked his meal just fine. The atmosphere of the place was like most sports/dive bars; most patrons hanging/sitting at the bar, drinking, etc., loud music, but not enough to where you couldnt hear yourself talk, and big screen TVs showing sports and sports memorabilia on the walls finished off the spaces.Overall, my friend and I had a good time at The Fish Market. The service was good. We didnt wait long for the food, and the prices were rather affordable for the amount of food you received. I will go back there again in the future and try some of their other menu options.

Decided to go with my family after briefly looking at the rating and menu. Was not expecting the gloriously sketchy dive bar vibe paired with super friendly wait staff who went out of their way to make a dish work for my mom who has some severe dietary restrictions.I had the spicy shrimp noodle soup which was really just an out standing flavor, somehow distilled the essence of a seaside dock into a soup, and then added in enough heat to clear your sinuses a little.Would love to swing by to watch some college football if I ever find my self in New York on an autumn Saturday.

Premise: dive bar are not my first pick but I appreciated the atmosphere for the genre.Posh (you are in NYC in the FiDi) and small dive bar, need-to-know where it is, a la speak easy, super friendly staff. Not recommended for dinner even for a diver bar :) Everything is fried: the fish tacos (and the taco is a little cardboard-y), pop-corn shrimps, mac n cheese, pork dumpling (crispy/chewy, a little rushed), and I would recommend to avoid the chicken wings - extra extra dry chicken and not that flavorful.

One of my favorites in the city - a total hole in the wall place with truly excellent service and a delicious take on bar food. Recommend the crispy rice, scallion pancakes (deep fried to perfection but somehow still so light), the ginger wings (with sweet chili sauce just like you get at a Singapore hawker), the pork belly, and mama’s chicken curry (beware, she has a bite). My mom and I looked at one another in shock, the racist undertones of this place are frightening.I wont begin to talk about the filthy bathroom and general appearance that contradicted the price of the food at every turn. The waitress was very rude and clearly did not want to serve two Africans American women as we watched her and the owner interact with everyone else ( not black of course). They apparently opened #2 place in LES, gotta check it out soon (Or not, cuz Im old and get massive hungover now.)Fish market is my favorite bar, honestly. Its almost like a hole in the wall kind of place but I have a great time here every time. The door glass is cracked and the doornob is missing, makes it hard to notice or even enter from the outside (almost feels like a speakeasy). Adam and Jeff are the owners and they are super friendly, give out FREE SHOTS constantly. Food here is great. Mama in the back makes amazing Chinese/American food. My favorite is the Bone-in Seabass with bokchoy. OMG its worth every penny. The drinks are strong and huge from a 16 oz plastic cup, for cheap! They have a big screen TV to show sports and a Nintendo NES for you and your buddy to play if youre into videogames. This place was very loud. The owners should really do something about the acoustics. It could also use a little fixing up. The staff was very nice, but the food was mixed - some of the Asian inspired food was good, but the seafood was only decent, but very overpriced for what it was.

Cool spot for food! Never knew there was a restaurant here! Its pretty hidden behind a cracked glass door (I would totally just walk pass it if my friend didnt stop me!) the food was surprisingly good, especially in an area where there arent that many options close by. Check it out if youre near south street seaport/near pier 16 or 17! seats are limited at the back but do go and try your chance. Its an interesting place for Asian food, bar is pretty loud here but the foods good! They dont have a lot of seats, maybe 8 tables or so for the food area. mama noodle in the picture tastes good! Ginger wings were just ok. My friend and I also shared a curry pot which was ok too.

Cheerful and mostly like a bar looking environment, with loudly talking clients. If you can stand this atmosphere, the seafood and mostly oysters and clams are excellent and very reasonably priced. They also make offers to the beers, if buy them by the bucket. Its location is very easy to find, is by the Brooklyn bridge.

I came upon this interesting place after walking out of what, used to be, one of my favorite places in Little Italy which, unfortunately, is now an extremely crowded, noisy and overprice tourist trap. I left Little Italy very HANGRY and decided to seek out seafood and found the Fishmarket on a Google search. The reviews looked good so I decided to have Uber bring us here. Upon arriving, I thought we were dropped off at the wrong location because, although there is a sign out front, the outside of the restaurant appeared dingy and closed down. There was a couple outside smoking cigarettes so I walked up to the door (Cracked Glass and all - with No Door Handle) and tried to wedge my way in. One of the guys out front showed me the trick to get it open and held it for us. As soon as we stepped in the door we saw that the place was ridiculously loud and packed and, due to the crowd, we didnt see any tables. We looked at each other and, with the last incident fresh in our minds, we decided to vacate quickly and walked right back outside. When exiting, the guy outside asked us why we werent staying saying that the food is awesome and that there were tables available in the back. He pried the door open again, walked us in and motioned to the bartender to hook us up. I thanked him and the bartender (an Asian dude wearing a Mets jersey - who, by the way, is a true professional) noticed I was edgy and asked me what I liked to drink. I told him that we were here to eat and he said I know that. What would you like to drink? Beer? Scotch? Tequilla? I definitely needed something alcoholic by now and asked him to get me a local craft beer, which he did. He wedged us through the crowd to the tables in the back and hooked us up with a table in the corner with plenty of room. As I was quickly swigging down my beer trying to relax, another, more polished, Asian dude (who I later found out is the bartenders brother) came over to the table with a magnum of Jameson and said have a shot with me. He poured us a shot and drank it with us and moved on to the next table and, I must say, my hangry mood started to change and I was beginning to feel happy. Mama (an older Asian lady - the bartender and hosts mother) came out of the kitchen and handed us menus which had a very good and unique amount of menu items (Mamas Specialties (curries, seafood, etc.), Italian, Shellfish, and more - all at great prices for Manhattan! We started with steamed clams (butter, wine and cilantro - amazing!), raw oysters, fried calamari (crispy, tender - better than Little Italy) and awesome bread to dip into the clam juice! After our appetizers (and, yes, a couple of more shots of Jameson with our host), we chose two dishes off of Mamas Specialties - Spicy Shrimp Green Beans and Shrimp Curry - and, as the guy out front promised, they were delicious! By this time the crowd was so loud that my ears were ringing as they were singing along to the songs on the jukebox and, best of all, I didnt care! I was enjoying the vibe and feeling content. This awesome family turned what wouldve been a miserable night into a fabulous evening! I highly recommend visiting this awesome place through the broken door with no handle and having an enjoyable time!!

When You come to Fish market You may arrive as a stranger but Youll leave as one of the family. The vibe here is always friendly and good timey. The kitchen helmed by Mama, cooks up Malaysian specialties. Dont forget to snag an order of the Gingered Chicken wings which are addictive and a perfect accompaniment to a nice cold brew. There is also a separate menu available of standard American fare for the less adventurous folk .Weekends the place can get really crowded but there is also some outdoor seating available now. Proprieter Jeff roams around and keeps everything running smoothly and will gladly share a nightcap or two of Jamesons with You.

In my opinion: my experience with this place gets worse by the visit. I remember the food being delicious the very first time I went and I have been bringing my friends to the place but unfortunately have not been able to get a table since then. I was once told they had no more table seatings even though a group of 5+ customers were leaving their table. Some bartenders should pretend better that they enjoy working there lol. If you appear young, expect a negative demeanor.
