This pub is a great spot for a relaxed and enjoyable time. The atmosphere is inviting, with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel right at home. The beer selection is excellent, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. Whether you’re there for a quick drink or to spend an evening, the combination of tasty beer and great service makes it a place worth returning to. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice pub experience!
This restaurant was amazing! All our food was fresh and delicious. Definitely a restaurant to try. Our waiter Fred was helpful and pleasant. We will be back!! We ordered the garlic hummus with FRESH vegetables and a delicious burger and our son had chicken tenders that were made to order and completely fresh. Clean restaurant and great service with fresh food.
I went in looking for a few beers and a bite to eat and got exactly that. I was not a fan of the recommended Alewife Blonde or Amber beers on tap, but there were plenty of other choices on tap and in bottles. I recommend the nachos and classic sliders. The service was good and prices were decent. If the weather was better, I would have tried the rooftop patio.
Stopped in for a quick drink before my flight; it had the potential to be nice. But I hate it when a business is out of something and it becomes your problem. I asked for the $10 Cornita & tequila shot. Theyre out of the cornitas, but tell me to only choose from a list of other random beers I don’t like or that dont make for this concoction. She has an 11oz Corona but wants to charge me extra for it, insisting that she CANT do that. So much for customer service and thinking outside of the box. Then comes out with this unbending false inquiry of how to make it better. Just give me the beer it’s $2 we’re talking here. Guess that explains exactly why this place is empty, people be weird. Gladly take my $$$ elsewhere. ✌🏽
We stopped in on New Years Eve 2024. Had drinks at 1st floor cash bar. Bartender Paul. Excellent at his job. Was attentive to all customers and had one of the best music mixes I have head in a long time. I live downtown and had family in from Chicago. We all loved it. Cant wait to go take other people.
🤌🏻Randomly chose the place to have beers while walking down the streets to my hotel and it turned out to be beyond my expectation. I had draft beer, onion rings and tacos, and they were all successful. Price was affordable, foods were good&comes fast and staffs are attentive. I really liked it here.
Coming to NYC I always look forward to trying new restaurants, unfortunately this place was MEH. Didnt blow my socks off , but wasnt terrible. We stopped in and got beer and some apps. The beer was warm and the calamari looked appetizing , but it was so rubbery. We did get a small garden and ceaser salad which were good. The server was nice and it was pretty quick. The restaurant is really cool looking too. We decided to move on to a different place for dinner.
Very good bar, waiters and atmosphereSo beautiful during christmas holidays
The selection of beers is quite expansive and one of the best I have ever seen - if you are in town for business- great place to unwind and enjoy a quality beer. The bartender really set the tone as well - Andres
Great comfort food. Staff is attentive and social. Portions are filling. steak and cheese is good; however Veggie burger needs lots of improvement as it has no texture/taste
Good food, we got burgers and fish & chips, nicely fried. Large selection of beers, surely more than 40 types. Average price for New York city center. The location is a quite dark and the music a bit high but typical for a beer pub. Suggested
Sroped by on a Saturday afternoon. They were about 2/3 full. Service was a tad on the slow side. They came to drink orders, but we needed a minute to look over their expansive beer menu. It took them 10+ minutes to come back. The wings we ordered came out incorrect but they quickly fixed the issue. Buffalo chicken wing dip was flavorful and cheesy.
Fabulous bar, we were the only people there as we went in for breakfast so hard to mark it on atmosphere! Good was great, not too expensive by NYC standards. Service was excellent.
This place made the worst martini. First one came with olives as a dirty martini should. I asked for another, hoping it would be better. This one came with a dry lime slice. Wtf is that. I guess you have to stick with bottled beer. The fried calamari appetizer was good. The atmosphere was ok. Except the high staircase to walk up to get to the more of the hangout bar, that was sperate from the small bar downstairs when you first walk in. Which is cash only. The mishap with the drinks is enough for me to not go back or recommend this place.
Beer Authority is always a favorite stop of mine while visiting the Times Square / Broadway / Midtown area of Manhattan. For beer lovers, it cant be beat. The selection of both drafts on tap and bottles/cans cannot be found anywhere else in the surrounding neighborhoods. What I love is they have both local beers and International beers, including a large selection of Belgium beers that many bars dont stock. Most bars in the area only have a small handful of the same beers, so the vast choices at Beer Authority is very welcome. The food menu also has a large selection of American bar food with appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, wings, and tacos but also some full entrees like steaks, fish & chips, salmon...On this most recent trip, I had two beers and an appetizer. I started with a Delirium Tremens on draft/tap, and then I followed up with a local IPA called Money from Barrier Brewing Company. I ordered the Pretzel Bites with cheese sauce and they were warm & soft. While the place can get busy at night, Ive always found the service to be good and the tables to be spacious. Bonus for them showing soccer during the day.
Overall good experience. Beer selection is decent. Buffalo dip is fire and nachos were pretty good. Service is good.
Nothing more to say than this place is incredible... we where staying down the road from here and if you let them know you get 10% off the bill. The food is absolutely amazing and the portions are huge. The staff cannot do enough for you, being super helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. It very soon became our local and we where sorry to leave.. recommendations on the pizza, if you order the 18 pizza there is more tha enough for 3 people..
Stopped in for some late night bites. I had the wings and my boyfriend had pepperoni pizza and a mule. The food and drinks were so good! Even better was the service and the entire place is decked out for Christmas! It was perfect to get into the holiday spirit! Definitely worth a visit!
Wait staff was just ok. But when they did not return my credit card, I was very upset. Had to find someone to ask for it back. Mac and cheese was outstanding. Neat atmosphere.
Such a great location! I went last year & had the opportunity of hearing a lovely performance by this New York based musicians/ duo Red Sahara! So worth a Google!! The decor of this establishment is awesome, the rooftop is sooo cool & a perfect place to dine with friends & family, plus to catch a performance. Even the food was great! Taste like love was put into it! The staff was also sweet & accommodating! Highly recommend if you’re in NY.
Nice place to have a drink and eat something! The service is great and the food delicious. We have been 3 times and it is always good. Do not miss the chicken wings and pretzels!
Really good food, great selection of beer and other drinks. I had wings and my partner had the ribs both were delicious. The atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed the music they had playing. Our server was Edgar and he was very lovely. Would reccomend :)
Stoped here late Tuesday night after a Broadway play. The manager was super friendly and accommodating. Even made sure my kid was happy with the table. The burger I got was done just right. There was plenty of beer choices to pick from and even a kids menu. Overall food was good. This is a three story bar. The rooftop is super cool and has a great view but limited selection of drinks. The dinning room on the first floor is the place to be if you want to eat and drink.
Fantastic rooftop bar, easy to get into on a Friday or Saturday night, the drinks are not terribly overpriced, service can be hit and miss depending on the day that you go. The first time I went to the service was stellar, the second time I went, it’s like they didn’t want my money. The waiter didn’t check on us one single time after delivering our initial drinks, they took the drink menu away so that we could not order more, and we had to chase down the server by asking the bartenders where they went after an hour of nothing when we were ready to pay the bill. Nice music and very clean building. 4.5 stars.
The atmosphere of a classic American bar. Noisy, drunk and fun. We were a company of 4 people. The prices are excellent, the cocktails are strong.
As much as l wanted to love this place …. Can’t think of a better spot to wait for the bus next door in Port Authority. The beer I had was off - probably the first one poured all day and sat in the lines but smelt of vinegar, Delirium ‘Nocturnal’. I will return and try again, as the food was fine! And the beer selection vast.
Great place to visit for drinks and good food when in nyc. I have been there twice. They have great selection of beer and various other drinks. Great ambiance and good food.
Great place for a drink & to watch sports (or watch the world go by outside if you get a window table)! 🍺🏒 Also great for food. Our party of 4 actually visited twice during the one trip to NY due to the food being great, decent price & staff being super helpful! 😊
Cocktails were not that great but they have a huge selection of beers. Would recommend getting beer over well drinks here. Calamari was low on salt, but decent. The nachos were not that great. Service was okay. The location is excellent.
Great bar, few seats for locals or quieter drinks downstairs, its big upstairs in the sports bar type place, there is a roof top seating area but was closed when last visited on 17th March. Massive selection of beer, didnt try the food but it smelt amazing! Also has a small happy hour (if I remember between 3-7pm?)
Went to watch a football game and had a good experience. Service was good, and Beer Authority had an excellent selection of draft beers to pick from. I ate the ribs, which were excellent. I would not hesitate to return.
The real authority of beer! Located next to PABT has its own perks. This place is epic on all levels. I went in for some beers and snacks and it was amazing. The beers were crisp and chilled, the food was lip-smacking to say the least. Shoutout to the bartender - Giovanni for epic service. Thank you Aoife for informing about the Hofbräu Masskrugstemmen Steinholding competition on the rooftop, you are awesome!Keep it up guys, will visit again. Cheers!!
Only had a drink, but it was good. There are unique cocktails on the menu (like a grinch drink for Christmas). The place is pretty big so I would think the chances of getting seating at any particular time would be pretty high. We went on a week day evening and it was somewhat empty. They decorated for Christmas so it was very festive inside too. The servers were also very friendly
The food was better than expected. The service was exceptional, they didnt skip anything for our group. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for. The cost was right! 100% Recommended!!!
I loved this place so much the first visit, that I returned the very next day, but for lunch this time. Honestly, the staff & chef know exactly what they are doing! Very attentive & polite, and the food quality & seasonings are just excellent. Very surprised that the price remains reasonable despite all of the wonderful things about this place. Restaurant/bar itself is cozy, comfortable, and clean.... Also its large.I will return on my next NYC. I love giving great places my business. Id give 10 stars if I could :)
Nice stop for lunch. Had a Philly which was great. Entire group liked their lunch and how can you go wrong with IPAs with your lunch. Nice atmosphere and look.
This place was great. I wanted good beer, bar food and a nice atmosphere. Check, check, and check. I had Duval, Omegang, and trappist ale. We ate pretzel bites, cheese sticks, and chicken strips. The chicken was definitely made in-house. The breading was very light, not a frozen piece of chicken. The service was awesome. I would go again.
Myself & some friends stopped in Beer Authority before a Knicks Celtics game at MSG for some food and drinks. The happy hour prices for the drinks were good. I had a Philly cheesesteak but it felt like there was more bell peppers than steak in the sandwich; couldve done with a lot less peppers. The staff was great and overall a great experience.
The most amazing place to visit in manhattan . The general manager always kind . Fred , Antonio in rooftop. Amazing waiters . The receiving lady hostess is so attentive and a friendly face …:: Highly recommend everyone !
What a fun place! Friendly staff, cold beer, yummy food in a great location.Rooftop bar was great, since it’s only two stories up, you can still hear and see the city like a cafe - but you’re not sitting in the street.Very convenient location.Definitely plan on making this a stop every time we come into the city. Thanks for a great dinner.
Augusto was incredible!! We had a very large group and he immediately came to the rescue and set up a big table for us. Service was excellent. Amazing place 10/10 reccomend. Overall, Augusto went above and beyond and provided the type of customer service we all expect at a rooftop in nyc.
Great place to watch sports, we watched the 2024 Copa America matches in a great environment with amazing service (Thank you Carlos!)
It is a nice place to spend Time with your friends and I really enjoyed it on St Patrick’s day. It had good music, good food, I recommended the chicken wrap and the Phillies sandwich and also good beer. It is pretty big and you have the bar downstairs and the restaurant upstairs.
Beautiful restaurant, great location, great selection of beers on tap. The burger was spectacular and the wings were great!
A great pub. So many beers both on tap and bottle. Good prices and a long happy hour.
A great place to come to get your standard beer and watch some sporting events, but surprisingly had a really nice cellar list of beer (see my attached photo). I was able to find some absolutely amazing imperial stouts. I would highly recommend the Goose Island Bourbon County imperial stout. I enjoyed sitting there with a friend and drinking this amazing beer.
Food and drinks were great! Me and my cousin had a good time there. Will definitely come again.
Popped in for a couple of beers from the uk lovely atmosphere didnt eat but looked great I was using my dollars up and paid in cash with a tip for gaby in the downstairs bar she came back to tell me I had given her a 50 dollar tip Instead of the 10 I intended thanks gaby
Stopped in for some cocktails before show and say at the downstairs bar .... which is CASH ONLY. Upstairs is larger abs serves with seating. Bartender service was very good.
Definitely my personal worst beer bar experience in NYC in 12 years.European’s get a shock as they “keep your credit card” somewhere on the bar and quite rude bartender event felt offended when I ask about it.Beer selection is good but glass sizes are imho below “small beer” size and cost $9 per glass. They will automatically charge you a “transaction” fee when you want to close the tab and pay by card. Fee was added without any explanation. Simply “fee”.During my beer consumption the server/bartender even wanted to take my bill and tried to put stranger’s order in my tab.I respect that this is a tourist bar but based on my current experience I personally recommend to rather visit directly the NYC breweries than this “wannabe cool” bar with hidden surprises and slow staff!
Found this place while walking down from Port Authority. It’s a great spot to sip beer and relax. They have a bar and proper tables for dining. Service is friendly, and the food is not bad.
Had fantastic meals and service here
Stopped here for a drink on the way to dinner.Beer selection:Draft list had about 20 beers. there were your typical categories. IPAs, lagers, ales, doubles, triples, seasonal, etc. the drink menu had beer cocktails, cans and bottles. Im sure they had liquor but I did not really look at the selection. The Draft selection was satisfactory in its uniqueness. They had a lot of the usual stuff but also had some good options that I had never seen before. There was a nice selection of local brewsOn service:I am pretty sure that for our first round all 3 of us were brought out the wrong beer. I will say that all of us had never tried our beers before, but they tasted very suspicious. First, I ordered a queens lager, lager is typically a more smooth beer and what I got was significantly hoppy. tasted more like an IPA. My brother ordered a grapefruit beer and his beer did not have any type of grapefruit flavor to it. My father ordered an anchor IPA and it tasted super malty and sweet. We mentioned something to the runner (who was very nice) that brought our drinks out, who said something to our server. We never heard back about the situation. The beers were fine, but I dont believe it was what we ordered. Our second round we ordered different beers and the tasted appropriate. I got a brown ale that was dark and malty. Appeared to at least be the closer to the correct type.I was a little surprised the server didnt come over and at least offer to get us something different. our beers really tasted nothing like the types of beers we ordered.Views:The views were very good up on the second floor. At the right angles you can see the beginnings of times square and all the video screens. It is definitely a cool atmosphere for a couple of pints in NYC.
Its a great place for a drink with a good atmosphere and a good selection on draft.
My girlfriend and I visited this place on Halloween. Wed barely eaten that day and saw they were offering half off on pizzas, so we indulged. BIG place. Three levels, at least. Nice layout. After ordering some drinks and a pair of Green Slime jello shots (in plastic shot glasses that cracked), we ordered an 18 pepperoni pizza. Somehow, we ended up with a veggie pizza. Our waitress apologized, blaming it on a mistake in the kitchen, and we got our pepperoni pizza in about half the time it took to get our wrong order. And thankfully, it was one helluva delicious pizza! Ultra-thin crust, cheese oozing off each slice. The waitress gave us another pair of Green Slime shots on the house to compensate for the order mix-up. But then came the bill. We were given the impression that our bill would be 10% lower if we paid with cash (which I did), but this is not the case. Turns out, this place actually just CHARGES you 10% EXTRA if you use a credit card. I wouldve added an extra star to this place were it not for that underhanded tactic.
The atmosphere made this place special for me. Omg, this is a rare gem. I enjoyed my time there.
The shots are weak, any other cheap dive bar around here will pour you more for half the price. Service was slow, however the establishment seems to be very awesome. Seems like a place that taxes heavy because it appears to he “higher class”
We decided to try the Roof TopBar and we enjoyed ourselves! Customer service is superb andthe drinks were amazing!
Perfect times square ambience, has rooftop seating, the bar has a wide selection of liquors and local and imported crafts. Their chicken strips were delicious. Strongly recommended.
The worst food and cheeseburger I ever had. 1,5 hour waiting time. fries are so bad and the burger too. Pizza is also a mess. Never again
Delicious food and good drinks. Not much variety in the drink section for kids mainly soda, but they had food options for them so all in all it worked out.
Great place, great beer and great staff ! Shaleen was so welcoming and friendly and knew her stuff ! We returned a few time as enjoyed the atmosphere after first popping in on our wedding day ! Definitely recommend
We saw the sign of 4th of July special prices and when we came in we ask for the special manu. When we were about to order the waitress told us that it’s over, meanwhile outside the bar is still have a sign than show that. Very bad service and try to make more money from poor innocent tourist that just want to pay less money in this expensive city.
Beer Authority is a fantastic spot for a pre-bus beer. Great atmosphere, friendly team, and a wide selection of brews. Highly recommended!
This has been my favorite restaurant in Time Square.
Great range of craft ales from local beers from local breweries to various places in the States. If I lived in the area I could well see this as my local. Luckily it was in the same street as my hotel (W 40th) and only a few doors away. It also has a roof garden and a restaurant although I didnt manage to try that. Well worth a visit.
Love this place service was amazing. The people treating us like we are family. When I return to New York again beer authority will be my spot to go to Everytime. You dont want to miss out on the great food and service of the friendly people. Much love your friend from Germany/ Maryland
Ordered the Hells kitchen burger medium with the egg over easy. Burger came out and the egg was “well done”. I send the burger back and they just swopped out the egg, returning with a cold burger and fries. Also got the loaded tots which was good but had little bacon on it.The rosemary fries were good tho.Great beer selection.
This was a cool place to have a few drinks. Loved chatting with Gabby, our bartender, She was quite entertaining and fun!!!
Good food. Hofbrau hefen weizen beer is my pick. Saturday morning brunch the breakfast burger was awesome. My wife loved her omelette. I had 2 screwdrivers and she had 2 mimosas...
Nice place to rest in center of city. Especially isle I can recommend the rooftop.
Very crowded, that was intimidating considering New Yorkers wear masks about as little as Kentuckians. Definitely couldnt go there.
Ordered the 12oz New York steak and it was amazing. It was full of flavor and juicy. The mashed potatoes with the Marsala cream sauce was heavenly. The bartenders were great and the atmosphere was perfect.
Beer selection and the rooftop are great, but the buffalo chicken dip is the best in NYC!!
This is one of my new favorite bars. I was looking for a place to relax and have a drink while waiting for a bus about a month ago, and discovered this place. The upstairs bar is spacious, and has a lot of drink and food options. The staff and manager are really friendly and welcoming. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and their happy hour deals are great. I would highly recommend this bar!
Very overpriced but a good late night spot. The happy hour is only good for beer. This mini cocktail was 20 bucks for Woodford bourbon. The food was also overpriced.the service was slow as well. I gave it two stars for the selection of beer.
Fun place. Great atmosphere. Many beers on tap too many to list. Also good food. Perfect meetup if using Port Authority bus terminal or if in Hells Kitchen neighborhood of NYC.
Plenty of space.. plenty of beer.. may have been under staffed when I was there to watch Sunday football. I was constantly finding myself with an empty glass. The food looks pretty and I wanted to badly to like it but it was so poorly seasoned I couldn’t even eat it
Fantastic service by friendly people. From the bouncer to our awesome bartender, Paul (fun to chat with too). Enjoy a gourmet drink experience in the first floor with a Speak Easy theme. Adorable and delicious! A must visit when in NYC!
Our waiter was so friendly, there were several vegan options, and the food was delicious!
Its a few blocks from time square and a great variety of beers at the exact temperature to be enjoyed. They also have a various menu but I can recommend the wings or hamburgers that are actually delicious. some days they have live music which makes it a nice place to share with friends and one of the things I like the most about this place is the rooftop, in hot season you can enjoy some good beers or food outdoors.
Awesome spot with a great beer selection. Very close to everything and easy to sneak away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend this spot if you live in the city or if you are a tourist from out of town!
Great bar, great staff. Large selection of beers, cocktails and food.
Beer Authority has a very nice beer menu, food menu and specialty drink menu. The food menu has anything you can think of, burgers, pizzas, pretzels, salads and more. The atmosphere and service was great. Nicely decorated for Christmas. The sliders werent bad but are frozen patties, the onion rings are from a bag, the pretzels are also from a bag or box and over done, the fries were fresh cut but undercooked. If the food was fresh and made in-house instead of commercialized, this place would be great. Unfortunately, the food underperformed. They do include the tip and a service fee if you use a card.
Nice!Massive choices of drafts ciders and beers.Highly suggest if you come from 🇬🇧.Slowly services because only Isabella around but worth the wait, thank you.Hell’s Kitchen mix platter will surprise you as was for me.
Good beer selection. Did not eat food so have no thoughts in that. Large beer selection with 100 on tap and a large variety of liquor with a splash of wine choices. Make sure to go upstairs, dont let the small bar by the front door scare you away the upstairs is the place to be.
Lots of draft beer. One of my favorite places in NYC. Spacious place. It’s the Beer Authority baby!Enjoy.
Great location, good food. Kinda pricey and loud.
Great food and drinks. Perfect service. Nice bar for friends gathering.
First negative rating ever.Great beer selection. However that is all the good I can say about them. They advertise 14oz pours and then serve you .25L branded glassware, which is only 8oz. Management doesnt care when the issue is brought to their attention.
Two story indoor bar with tons of options for drinks. The interior has a hard wood aesthetic and is one of the cleanest in the area. Friendly waitstaff, bartenders, managers and even an attendant. Andreas was an excellent bartender and local guide. On the 3rd story youll find a Rooftop patio with additional seating, servers and views of the Times Building
Great bar with a wide selection of beers and ales and a friendly, welcoming vibe. I recommend the Philly cheese steak sandwich - it was incredible.
Just popped in for a beer and it was really nice. The Beer Authority Lager is good and they have Allagash White on tap which sealed the deal.
Great food. The onion rings were crispy and well made. The salad was flavorful and chicken grilled perfectly and still moist. Our server didn’t speak English so that was a bit challenging but otherwise she was fantastic once we got things going. Will be happy to return here.
Beware!!Bartender didn’t give me a receipt!! He just told me the amount When I asked for the check and He did the same with the tourists sit next to me. Cash only for this place. I came today around 2.30 pm at first floor. I got one beer and tenders. He just said $26 without giving me a receipt. I also tipped him $5 more. It seems like a regular price because I thought u have a happy hour at that time. Im not sure it was the right price or not. Anyway, the food was good!!
Its a fun place with good food. I had the fig almond salad and it was great!
Superb! food is reasonably priced and flavor is there, but the best part is the beer! choices and something for everyone!! great place to hangout with friends.
I was there on NYE with my kids. We were there around 5pm. We had appetizers and soft drinks. The food and atmosphere and service were all great. The bill was $90.84 and I tipped $30 b/c it was NYE. I got my credit card bill and there were three charges: one for $120.84 and TWO others for $90.84. Credit card company says I cant dispute unless I have receipt. Bummer.***Edit - the GM reached out and resolved the issue and I appreciate it very much.
Little bit loud, service is above and beyond. Food is definitely good and fresh. Cocktails are strong.Overall pretty reasonable place.
Awesome place with great beer selection.
Were staying in the Aliz Hotel on w40th St, which is a few doors away. I love the atmosphere, the food, and the amazing range of draught beers and cask ales on offer. Theres definitely something for everyone here. By New York standards, Id say the pricing is average. Children are welcome. 👌
A local recommended this place and it was great, it is a nice spot to watch people. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a beer (Do not remember which one) but it was awesome! The staff was friendly. I would visit again.
Great experience! Like every time I am in New York, Beer Authority it is a MUST. Great beers, great food for special people!
The service was great but I found a long hair in my food. But the service was 👍 awesome
I really liked the place, we went with the idea of watching a soccer game and eating.. they don’t usually turn up the volume on the TV but we asked if they could and they very kindly did it, the food was very tasty and the atmosphere was great.. I would go again!
Great place to grab a beer in a lively and cool place. You just have to know to go upstairs as the downstairs seems a bit gloomy.
Great place to grab a beer or have drinks by yourself, with another person or with a large group. It has a big place upstairs that Ive seen hardly full. Service is helpful and usually quick. Plenty of options to eat something, even vegan and gluten free. They have two options of gluten-free beer that has saved me every time theres a big gathering there. In general, its one of the places I return to because its easy and fun.
Super nice customer service, really yummy food and a beautiful ambieance! 100% worth it’s money!
Excellent Holiday or after work Pit Stop, my favorite ❤️. Great food , “fish & chips” the best right down to the burgers. Full menu, excellent service & atmosphere ‼️
Great meetup spot after a conference for a number of years running. They always close the rooftop for us where we have dedicated bartenders and wait staff. Allows for folks to stay as long as they like and many will stick around for food and more drinks. Obviously they have a good beer selection but the cocktails were pretty good in last visit too. Especially happy with the service for a large party. Rooftop is a cool spot with the NYC ambiance around you, but if it gets too loud or starts to rain, the inside is always there when you need it.
The loaded nachos were SO GOOD that we ordered a second one.
We sat on the second floor bar and caught the game. Had the vibe of a regular bar to me. Everyone was adamantly watching the game. Only ordered beers and fries. However, they had game day food deals for purchase.I’d probably go back.
Nice 2nd floor bar. We ordered two salads that were simply great. The beer offering is wide and balanced. We tasted two double IPA from NY that were great too. Excellent service. The only backward is that on a Thursday night, there were little people.
Only stopped here for a quick beer before heading to the ferry to get back to our hotel in NJ. AWESOME SPOT! Wish we had more time to experience more beers 😜 Staff was delightful.
Try the banana bread beer!
I walked into Beer Authority to have a shot with my nephew who just turned 21 on our last night in NYC…(Oct 19). We were excited to be there and the bartender seemed nice enough but was glued to his cell phone. Also, when we said we wanted to have a tequila shot he sneakily recommended a tequila that apparently was not in the restaurant’s “well” and didn’t tell us the shot would be $14 (instead of the normal $6). The shots (we each had two) were absolutely watered down. Everybody has some sort of scam if you aren’t watching in NYC, and this guy has it dialed to a perfect science. $56 for 4 watered-down top shelf tequila shots. Shame on you. I can almost guarantee the scam is : the restaurant gets $6 and he pockets $8 per shot and since it was watered down, the restaurant has no idea. Where I’m from, the bartender is always the coolest, friendliest one in the place. Hmm, not so much here. Such a disappointment for my special time with my nephew. He had chosen this place since we had eaten on the second floor earlier that week and we’re pretty happy with the atmosphere and the service.
Loved this place! Not far from Times Square. More than 100 sorts of beer and pretty good burgers.
Had a great time with a large beer selection
Only had time for one beer and some outstanding soft pretzel sticks. Draft selection is huge and varied. Not at all crowded, but it was early lunchtime on a rainy weekday.
Great burgers, good selection of brews. Located conveniently next to Port Authority and many of hotels. Friendly staff and nice views to a busy street.
What an experience over multiple floors and the guinness on the roof top bar, excellent pint
The food was not good.I would rather go to St. Cloud Rooftop which is nearly and its bartenders are Desi 💝
A great spot. Enjoy a good meal and drink.
Great environment with excellent food and service. We really enjoyed it.
Fab bar, great food beer and cocktails!
The food and beer were quite good and surprisingly reasonably priced for NYC. Its very loud inside, mostly a sports bar vibe.
Great place for beer. Great staff, great selection of beer, friendly environment and food is pretty good.. This is my Midtown go to water hole.
Rooftop was nice
Way over priced for what I had and a sting in the tale of an added tip included in the bill. I am always happy to tip but the food was not good at all so I felt I had been kinda robbed.Service was good, can’t fault that., and the beer was good tooWon’t go again, much better value and quality elsewhere
The food menu is what u would expect from a tap room, but good. The beer selection is good not great, they just don’t have anything unique, most of the selections every other bar in NYC has or is common throughout New England. They do have some NYC beers I have never had unfortunately they weren’t great…
Amazing expiriences! Delicious food and beer, atmosphere. Real America, thank you guys!
Great service and pretty good food. Excellent drinks!
Great place.Just remember to respect their authoritah!
We had a large plate of nachos and some hot wings. Both really good.Great selection of drinks. Loads of different beers, both on draft and in bottles. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, most notably the Irish lady who had us in stitches.Great atmosphere, even though it was late afternoon. I could see this being great in the evenings. There was a large roof terrace, but it was too cold to go our onto it.Whilst everything in here seemed a little over-priced, we were a stones throw from Times Square, so probably priced in line with everywhere else.
Great vibe!
Stopped in for a quick drink and app at the bar while waiting to check into our hotel.
I came here tonight on my birthday. I had presented to my friends how I love this place despite it being on tourists part of town explaining how they have great food and very kind and outgoing bartenders with high morale!Sadly my word didn’t speak up to the experience given. I am a very high tipper and normally tip above 20% because I know how it’s like being in the serving industry and how it can be a let down when you give grade A service to be left no tip or less than the service provided. When I had arrived then we tender ion the second floor between 9:30-11:00pm was very stand off.He didn’t acknowledge me and my friend and it took us over 20 minutes to ask for our first drink and ask for a good menu. When asked, he provided us with one food menu in which we had to share and then continued ti ignore us for another 15 minutes to take both our drink and food orders. The bar was completely empty at the hour and only had a total of 7 people including me and my best friend and still we felt like we were being judged off of our ethnicity that we wouldn’t leave a good tip so in their eyes we deserved the least amount of service,We eventually were able to order drinks and food and in which the bussers were more polite and kind than this caucasian gentlemen taking our orders. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great as it always was In previous visits! However the service I received from this bartender was probably the worst judge mental service I have ever experienced in my 33 years of living.I am very empathetic and get some days can be a little tough on people and you aren’t at your fullest of feeling like 100% but I honestly got the vibes of feeling like this gentle men was racist and judged a book by its cover and purposely ignored us assuming we would give them a bad tip!I again will say I know the struggles of life and with that said I normally over tip because I know how hard life can be and the struggles of serving. This visit tonight made me look stupid with how much I hyped this place up in regard to its service and how well the environment was in a highly tourist populated area of Ny.I have lived in NY for 8 years and never have I ever given such a low tip as I did tonight even when I felt service wasn’t on par because again I can relate to the struggles of personal life issues and trying to stay motivated at work. But I will say I never felt more judged and discriminated as if I were poor or would give a good Tio as I did tonight.I still will come back here because it has always been one of my favorite bars in the 7 years of living in NYC but I hope this gentlemen isint there the night I come so I can experience what I was used to.
Great beer selection, good vibe, friendly staff. Our bartender Ash was great to chat with and made some great beer suggestions. Would definitely go again.
So much fun tonight! The first floor has a cool speak easy atmosphere. Complete with themed music and very creative cocktails. Paul was the best host! The gentleman at the door also had the best personality. We will be back and will suggest this venue and Paul to all of our friends and family.
Food and service were good. A little language barrier issue with waitress but with some patience it all worked out. I would definitely come back when in NYC.
Cute place. Pretty spacious inside which was unexpected given the location. Good food and drinks. Nice staff. Id come back.
Very cool place next to Time Square. Tons ofbeer options and great bar style food.
Beer Authority is a gem in the heart of New York City for beer enthusiasts. With an impressive selection of brews from local craft to international classics, its a haven for diverse beer tastes. The cozy, pub-like atmosphere and knowledgeable staff make it a welcoming spot to enjoy a pint or two. Whether youre a seasoned beer connoisseur or a casual drinker, Beer Authoritys extensive menu and friendly vibe will keep you coming back for more. Cheers!
Great wine and beers listMany varietiesI will come back next time
Great view and atmosphere to drink beer. The beer menu es huge, also the October special editions are great (be careful if you dont like cinnamon with the pumpkin one, it really has lots). The music can be a bit loud to talk with people next to you.
Tried the salmon dinner. Came out crispy and flavorful. Nice ambience.
Visited after a busy day walking NYC. Recommend the burgers, and the fries were really tasty. Good selection of beers. Attentive bar staff. Would definitely return.
We were automatically charged 18% gratuity FOR A PARTY OF 2. And then taxed on top of it?? And when we asked the staff everyone acted dumb. Maybe theres one waitress just giving herself automatic tips. When we adjusted the receipt, they still charged us for the 18% gratuity according to my bank. Nowhere does it say that theres included gratuity, especially for a party of two. And another guy in the reviews was charged a 20% tip. So check your bill because they act real loose with peoples money. Would have happily given 18% on my own free will. Never had an issue with this place before and was never charged for an included gratuity.
Only had drinks ... staff was attentive and communicative; albeit seemed to have little understanding of their expansive beer menu. So, if you have an hour to kill before your bus at port authority and need an oasis to have a pint, heres your spot. I read in another review cash only but we paid by CC with no issues.
Great location with multiple levels to view the surrounding area, to include rooftop. Great seating on the second floor with windows to enjoy climate control while seeing the activities outdoors. The crabcakes and guacamole bowl were delicious and was just enough to pair with our beer and mojito selections!
Gluten Free beer and an excellent cider that was great on ice recommended by the manager. The wings were crispy and meaty and Gluten free!!! Beer and wings like a normal person!! The manager was a delight who made a few minor issues disappear with style.
Had the 12oz ny strip and was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend
Huge selection of beer, and the food was excellent!
Great place to be - anytime of the Day!
It was very crowded and loud lots going on and we waited briefly and got a seat upstairs. We ordered our beers from the large selection of brews and they came quickly. After about 30 minutes I flagged down our waitress so we could order, food came out quickly I got the special chicken fajitas and wife got a salad…both very good. I waitress never came back, I believe she was overwhelmed with the crowd. Manager checked us out and was apologetic for the wait. Will try again
Best Bar in town!
Great beer selection. Best bathrooms in NYC! Go enjoy some bar fare hear!
I really liked this place at first, I have been here tree times. But when a waiter started complaining to me that I did not appreciate the place because I only gave 3 dolar tip… I made the decision to never set foot in this establishment again. You can also show appreciation by giving a compliment about the food and being a returning customer. But that to don’t understand. The crew is nice to you until they see how much you tip.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Beer Authority for a couple of happy hours with friends and work colleagues, and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The first thing that struck me was the excellent service - our waiter was attentive and friendly, and always made sure that our drinks were topped up and our food orders were taken care of promptly. But what really stood out to me was the general manager, Aoife Canny. She was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure that our group had a great time. Not only did she make us feel welcome and valued, but she also provided great recommendations for drinks and food, and even took the time to chat with us about the history of the bar and the different types of beer on offer.Speaking of beer, the selection at Beer Authority is truly impressive. With over 90 beers on tap and hundreds more in bottles, there is something for every taste and preference. Whether youre a fan of IPAs, stouts, or sour beers, youre sure to find something you love here. And if youre not sure what to order, the staff are more than happy to provide recommendations and samples to help you make a decision. In addition to the great beer, the food at Beer Authority is also worth mentioning. We tried a few different dishes, including the buffalo chicken wings and the loaded tater tots, and everything was delicious. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, especially for a bar in midtown Manhattan.
Last Saturday my son had his birthday party here in rooftop . I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the amazing job Mat from Wolfie Events did and organized the whole event. And big shout out to restaurant general manager Aoife Canny who provided the outstanding and exceptional service . She went above and beyond to ensure that we have a great experience. Again, Thank you Aoife for everything you did to make my sons birthday memorable. Staff was also very attentive, polite and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I would defiantly go back.
Stopped in here for a snack. The bartender waved us to the bar. It was cash only. I ordered some whiskey and my wife ordered a dirty girlscout. Not sure exactly was in it but it tasted like a thin mint. We ordered some pretzels and fish and chips. Both were great. The fish may have been the best I had as fish and chips. Bartender was great! Lots of personality and helpful.
Came here for dinner for a bachelor party a few months back. It went without a hitch and we couldnt be happier! Great beer selection, and delicious food to boot
The place is nice and we have been there quite a few times. Yesterday was a bit of a pity as the food was good but the waitress was awful. Rushing us to eat and to pay and then she just added 20 percent gratuity without asking us. I asked if we can amend the gratuity amount but she said it is automatically calculated and cannot be changed. Sincerely, I am not sure if she lied but with that service I would not pay that amount. Not returning back for sure. There are better places out there that provide much better service for the money spent.
I found a shard of glass in my beer! The waitress re-poured my drink but didnt even comp my beer and I received no apology from anyone. There was glass was in my mouth!Pretty unexcusable. Maybe find a different bar in the area...theres lots!
First time there it was good. And they had a special on oysters. They were really big for the price.
Good food and beers, pleasant service. The atmosphere at the place, on the other hand, was a bit more so-so. The biggest problem was that there was extremely loud music in the room, which meant that everyone had to sit and shout to each other, which in turn resulted in even more noise. Looking for a quiet little place for a good conversation and some relaxation? there are probably better options (but as pointed, the food, drinks and service was good).
Don’t be fooled by the tiny faux pub in the entry. Head upstairs for a much better experience
Excellent place to enjoy a beer with friends, the crew is super kind and funny! Nice view to 8th Av
Im really not one for going to the pub by myself, but after walking past here a few times, I thought Id give it a go. Glad I did, lovely cold draught beer after a hot day walking around in the sun. Just what I needed. Had proper football on the TV too. I didnt visit the nicer part upstairs unfortunately, just relaxed with my beer and then left.
Great place for meeting friends or sharing a meal, good food, excellent beer selection. It was a great experience.
I was looking for a place to grab a beer and ended up here and the place looked real nice 3 floors with a rooftop and the atmosphere was good as well. The service was great and I didnt get to try the food but I will definitely go back for dinner the plates being served to other people looked good.
I had the buffalo chicken dip (muah) was tasty BUT let me tell you this Mac n cheese ( woah)Beers were good of course can’t go wrong with a good tap. Over all the atmosphere was nice the bar tender was great thanks guy.
Great selection of imported beer and Delirium on tap!
Went three times when in NYC. Manager Eva is amazing and helped our friend with a “shat” shirt! Great atmosphere especially on rooftop and excellent food.
Grate place! If you love to try out new beers this is definitely for you! Service is good as well!! Grate view of the busy city...
This place sucks. Worst martini I’ve ever had (came room temp and was literally just vodka). The fries were soggy, sandwich was flavorless and the dessert tasted like easy bake oven. I paid $100 for BS. Would never recommend this place, look elsewhere in the area there are much better restaurants. Don’t waste your money!
Decent beer selection but a very small and limited menu. The music is loud throughout the restaurant.
Guy downstairs mixes the bottles of liquor with water do not come here!
Amazing experience with Agusto as the manager, and Antonio as the server on the rooftop bar. Drinks were great, food was great. Everyone was cheerful, friendly, and prompt with service even though they are BUSY. Would 100% recommend to anyone in the area to stop by for a drink on the rooftop bar or to stop in for some food. It will definitely be a “must visit” when coming back out to New York!!!
Amazing selection of beers. Chicken wings were very good.
If you are on a budget, the food is exceptionally high value, especially to be so close to Times Square. Plenty of beer types for all. Extensive hard liquor selection. The staff is very attentive as well. Its my go-to as a commuter.
First floor for quiet drinks, second floor for a more bar feel, and a rooftop bar. Excellent beer list, and great cocktails. Servers and bartenders know their stuff. Food is solid. If youre in the neighborhood, this is well worth your evening.
Really great spot. Endless collection of beers, tacos are phenomenal and the staff is very pleasant. Theyre a bit short-staffed but they still have top notch customer service. Prices are reasonable too 👍
This was a really great place to hold the NYCFC watch party! Lots of space, the rooftop is pretty cool although it was too chilly to hang when I was there. The wait staff and workers here were all pretty unbelievable. Quick with the service and when the occasional drink was spilled or glass was broken they were Johnny on the Spot. Real fast cleaning up.Too bad NYCFC lost, but still has a great experience. Thanks Beer Authority
Good food and fine staff, but the speakers on the roof bar are very poor and volume set too high for their capabilities. The staff say its a bar so they need to have the speakers turned up even though the doesnt work lol...
Great place for food and drinks. Accommodated our large group easily.
Just an excellent place for the pint of your choice. 199 beers to choose from (bottles and taps) and a lot of room to enjoy it in. Havent been to the roof deck yet... but the main floor is spacious and fun. Its a loud bar/restaurant environment. Burgers were good... not the best, but a good solid burger. Obviously the beers are great.Theres a small downstairs bar with a limited beer menu thats great to just have a quick pint before heading on the train at Port Authority. Also serves as a great meeting place if youre trying to catch up with friends before heading somewhere else.Ive been here multiple times. Always good...R
I really wanted to recommend this place but unfortunately I just cant. I did not enjoy the food at all and I thought the service was a bit lacking. I would more than likely never go back to this establishment again. It is kind of neat looking inside so if thats your thing maybe try it out.
Great time I had today eating lunch and enjoying the amazing drinks with my friend. We have had lunch here several times. We took the opportunity to finally visit the roof top, and we were amazed with the way it was decorated. Very spacious. Good enough for groups to meet and enjoy. Being under the large umbrella was perfect for the weather we had today. The service and hospitality is amazing.⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you.👍👍👍
The BBQ ribs were quite soft, moist, and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. The coleslaw had a nice crunch and mild sweetness to it. The service was on point, and the bartender was very efficient.
The only reason that one would come here is for the decent rooftop setting or when your bus is severely late. Since I live nearby, this does make a convenient spot to meet friends for a drink after work before they embark on their journeys home. They do offer an extensive list of beers; however, no blue moons. I am a cocktail person, so there isn’t much for me besides their ciders and fruit beer, as the cocktails were a bit overpriced for the quality.Be aware that if you are seated indoors, they automatically apply a 20% gratuity to the bill (this didn’t happen when we sat outdoors the 2nd time). They also insert additional charges for paying with a credit card.
Good bar with lots of TVs. They had a good beer selection also. My only complaint is the buffalo wings were pretty amateur. The blue cheese had no flavor and tasted like cream. I only ate a few wings and then ordered a burger and it was pretty good. Good bar for watching ball games, beers and a burger.
Not bad , the mozzarella sticks were tasty, the Guinness was a tad warm and the cocktail was tasty.Service was quick but Im over the American tipping , you sell someone two drinks and bring them an entree and expect an 18 percent gratuity. Its a rort.
Very friendly security guy. And very good service with delicious draft beer 🍺
We stayed right by Beer Authority and went for Valentines Day. We got sat right away and the staff was so friendly! The food.... was... AWESOME! We especially loved the chili and wish we had the recipe! Also, wish we had discovered this place sooner, as we would have gone at least 50 more times! The food was amazing and the prices are decent!
Massive place with plenty of bars, seating and space. Service and food was great. Thank you
This is the best place in Manhattan to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Vincent took care of us, and gave us some great recommendations that the locals visit. He spent the evening telling us the history of the bar and went above and beyond to tell stories and treat us like regulars. Come here to find the NYC that the locals know and love.
Excellent service and location. Easy reservations. Great selection of beers on tap and bottled. However, the food was subpar. The pretzel bites were overbaked and tough. The BBQ ribs are braised and slathered with clumped up seasoning and BBQ sauce (ie not smoked like really barbecue should be). The cheese steak and sliders were okay as were the mozzarella sticks. But the ribs were just so bad that it outweighed the rest of the food experience.
We came here all 3 nights we were visiting and for good reason. At the cash only bar, Tony and Aiden were AMAZING! Such nice guys and made our trip to NYC worth it. Kudos to Shawn at the door, as well, super cool guy and definitely made us feel welcome! Good food and drinks, too. We’ll be back!
