I went to Ama with my wife for happy hour. They have a short but solid wine list with a good variety. The oysters were fresh and the shrimp was delicious. There is a two dozen per person limit on the oysters during happy hour. Timmy was a great server. I would return and dine here again if the opportunity arose.
Happy hour deals (oysters/apps/drinks) are nice. Overall it’s a little over done in terms of how they “elevate” food. It’s alright for a bite with some drinks, it’s pretty dark in the restaurant.
Great Asian fusion spot to grab food and drinks. The drinks were very flavorful and the food was great. They have a decent size happy hour menu. Definitely good spot for groups.
LOVE THIS PLACE. Their lobster wontons are amazing and the staff was so so kind. They offered to make the lobster soup which wasn’t on the menu at the time. I can’t wait to come back
Ohhhhh my goodness this was such an awesome spot. I came here with my friend after work. Thankfully we made a reservation. We came for 5:30 and it was quiet. However it didn’t take long for it to get packed. The food was phenomenal. It’s def a great place for date night or out with your friends type of night. The drinks were great too. I would so come back again. I didn’t expect to like it this much, but I do!!!
Have now been to both ama locations and this was no disappointment! The drinks were amazing and food was delicious as always!! Service from staff was also great. I will just say that I wish the happy hour menu included more dishes or at-least different dishes and the drinks were slightly cheaper.. $11 for a drink is still a little pricey for “happy hour” but nonetheless I will absolutely be back!!
The tuna and salmon melted in your mouth and were the highlight of the meal for me. The appetizers and fries were my favorite partThe lobster bao buns were light and buttery, pretty good overallWe had mussels and salmon as an entree which were also good but the appetizers stole the show. This was the first time I had bok choy and it’s definitely something I’ll be eating again!Espresso martinis weren’t my favorite but my preference is something a little bit sweeterOverall great experience and I’ll be sure to stop by again for their happy hour!
Stopped by here randomly for a quick bite, and everything was great! Drinks, the Shiso Fine and frozen Lychee Margarita were great paired with the yummy oysters. The Yuzu Pepper Shrimp was very well seasoned and not spicy at all. The Bao Buns (Lobster and Bulgogi) were very very tasty! Wait staff was very attentive to our needs. Would 100% go back!
Great food and cocktails, lychee martini and veg ramen were delish!
Oysters were fresh and delicious, had the mezcal Palawan shared a bao bun. They just started all night oyster happy hour on Mondays and Wednesdays plus $25 wine bottles. Overall a lovely place with an insane happy hour — I’ll definitely be back!
Absolutely amazing, fresh, delicious food. The back patio is adorable and so comfortable to sit and relax while enjoying dinner. We have been back several times and each experience is 5 star.We have basically tried everything on the menu and no exaggeration, it’s all incredibly delicious. My personal favorite is the spicy tuna crispy rice, the mushroom and lobster bao buns, the Szechuan chicken wings and snow crab legs!!
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!!! Dare I say, my favorite restaurant in the whole city .. the crispy rice tuna, lobster bao buns, drunken mussels, miso cod cakes, and the cocktails WOWWWWWW! My favorites were the lychee martini, blushing Ama, and shiso fine!!!! Truly can not recommend this restaurant enough, it is a must go in nyc. The service, vibes, food, and drinks are unparalleled. Carly the manager, Timmi our waitress, and Isabel making the drinks were GREAT! 10/10 every time
Went here for happy hour 4-7pm. 1$ Oysters Amazing. Oysters were fresh and healthy. Drinks were just as good and strong. We ordered the dry seasoned wings which in my opinion was overly seasoned. It wasn’t bad just wasn’t my taste. We also ordered shrimp buns, chicken buns, oyster buns and lobster buns. All was exceptional. Would definitely recommend this place. Staff were warm and friendly.
Passed by Ama a few times before and loved the lively crowd and ambiance they would always have, so finally decided to stop by during HH. We ordered their HH oysters (east and west coast). I liked the west coast more because it had a hint of sweetness to it. The ponzu sauce made it taste even better! Their cocktails were amazing and a bit strong, which is a good thing! We ordered the crispy rice tuna and crispy oyster bao buns. The crispy rice tuna was just okay for me- it was super crispy that it kind of scraped the roof of my mouth and got stuck in between my teeth. The crispy oyster bao buns was solid and yums! The drunken and mellow mussels were plump and amazing! The lemongrass coconut broth in the mellow mussels was my favorite- it was super flavorful. The mussels also came with a side of nori fries, so we used the broths as our sauce instead ketchup. Wish they had bread so I can soak up the sauce from the mussels, but they only had steamed or fried bao buns (which didnt really soak up the sauce well enough). They also gave us complimentary mochi at the end.
Went here last Friday late afternoon to celebrate a friend’s birthday & we absolutely loved this place! Excellent lychee martinis, oysters & other yummy food! Our server was beyond awesome & even gave my friend some mochi & champagne for his birthday! 😊
Ama raw bar has some great options for their happy hour. the oysters - both varieties - were affordable and tasted really good. i also appreciated the variety of sauces that they provided. the bao and taco were yummy too!the lychee martini and mezcal palawan (with jalapeño) were both very good. the martini was super strong.
Eric is amazing and the service is impeccable and so friendly. The food has only gotten better and better! And the owner, Will, is lovely too!! Always accommodating! What a success to open during Covid. My go to.
Amazing happy hour spot: $1 east and $2 west coast oysters were fresh and delicious (though the latter had more flavor), lychee martinis were the perfect levels of sweet and alcohol. We also got the chicken bao buns (redundant name lol) and fries- all yummy.Service was fast and attentive and it was just the right amount of crowd at 6pm on a Friday. For 2 people, we probably could’ve walked in but I had made a reservation to be safe since it was our first time here. Will be back!
These guys right here are A1. Best place to stumble upon, I wish them all the success and then some.Family owned, high class, cozy, personable, and the chef is putting his foot in that food. Some of the best oysters we’ve ever had, the best bao bun I’ve EVER had (fried oyster!), and amazing cocktails to go with it.Lastly, for the sake of not saying too much, I’ll just say this - book your event here. A nice little lounge that is to die for (The Kiki Room), an outdoor space even, and not far from the train.I only took one picture because I was too busy having a good time. Go have a good time at AMA Raw Bar!
Lovely place with great ambience, their clams and sea food are delicious and they have a good selection of drinks. Strongly recommended to get the east side vibe in new york.
Brought 20 people here for my birthday. We rented the outdoor garden area they have. Was $50 per person for the minimum spend, no deposit.Carly and Anya were wonderful. They helped with the planning and service is fast even though we were there during the happy hour. And they gave us happy hour pricing too! I definitely enjoyed it, will be back again with small groups
The raw scallops were spoiled! Inconsistent service, we were constantly upset. We did not enjoy the food, all the dishes were bland, even the oysters. If you are Asian, stay away, its like baby food, taste like nothing!
We had a fabulous dinner here, food is amazing and impeccable service. A lovely neighbourhood restaurant in the West Village serving great food and cocktails, a must if you like good food and great service. Both Harvey and Brandon made our night memorable. We will be back.
We went here because I had an oyster craving. The oysters were delicious and fresh. But we made the mistake of getting the muscles and those were so bad (burned, shriveled, hard) my boyfriend almost got sick at the table. Also there was a weird smell on the inside. They also switched servers on us by the end without saying anything. So ultimately if you’re coming for drinks and oysters it’s a good deal. But I wouldn’t order any other seafood.
Highly, highly recommend. Fresh delicious oysters and seafood options. To die for edamame hummus. Excellent cocktails. Laid back vibe. They have a private room in the back if you have a larger party.
Ama Raw Bar East Village was nothing short of amazing. Their cocktails are both welcoming and unique and their food was amazing. We were there as a group of four and we all couldn’t get over how great all the food choices were. The yellowtail crudo, edamame hummus, and crispy rice tuna were my top favorites but the mussels were also incredible.Other than the food and drinks, the service was amazing. They were so kind and introduced each plate as it came out as we ordered many rounds of both food and drinks. The GM Carly was amazing as well. She knew exactly what cocktails to recommend and was so welcoming. She was on the floor with her team and honestly the place felt like family. Will come back here again and again.
Both myself and my dining partner got food poisoning. Ive been sick all day and had to take the day off work.
Great place. The food was very tasty. Enjoyed happy hour and lychee marti!
Our favorite happy hour in nyc! Lychee lemonades, oysters, and yuzu shrimp are our favorites- but you really cant go wrong ordering food or drinks here.
Wow!!!! This place was such a good find. The food was amazing, highly recommend the lobster, muscles, oysters and crispy rice tuna. The drinks were super tasty too. The staff was so fun and so nice. Immediately walking in you could tell the vibes were great, very cute, very comfortable. Great date night spot. I’ll definitely be coming back again!!!
Walked in without an appointment with 2 other people. We were seated right away. The service was great, the food & drinks were great. Will definitely be coming back! Thank you!
Harvey the owner was cooking that night and came out to introduce himself to my date and I. The food was perfect and the staff lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant for any meal!
This was an amazing find! The happy hour deals cannot be beat. We also ordered additional items - mussels and crispy rice tuna (in addition to a bunch of $1 oysters- you really cant beat that deal), and we really enjoyed all items we received!Overall this is a great happy hour spot that we really enjoyed, also really great service as well.
This has been a fave of mine for some time. Best in Alphabet City
I came here for a friend’s birthday party and loved it! The cocktails are tasty, food is delicious (crispy tuna rice - yum!!), and the decor is beautiful. The design of the space, menu, and cocktails is well thought out without being too obvious or pretentious. The owners and staff were super friendly and took great care of us. I’ll definitely be back to try the oysters ($1 specials!!) and lychee martinis. Highly recommend!
Walking down avenue b, I noticed the great tunes and good vibes coming from Ama. On a whim, I decided to try their happy hour. Don’t skip the refreshing “Shiso Fine” cocktail. Pair it with the Luscious muscles for rich and satisfying happy hour. The staff are super friendly and made me feel like I was at my hometown bar. Definitely will be going back!! Btw, the nori fries are McDonald’s fry quality. Can’t beat that.
Pleasantly surprised. Their menu is, for the lack of a better word, very basic. It pretty much consists of the top 20 trending Asian food items from the past 15 years. Things like lychee martinis, ramen, bao, bulgogi, etc., but they do it all relatively well. Not a place you go to try innovative and creative stuff but the food is really good and reasonably priced. Great service as well. I plan to come back.
This place is super popular so make sure to make a reservation if you have a group! We came for Happy Hour on a Saturday and were able to get a small table outside for 2. Oysters are $1.25 (East Coast)/$2.25 (West Coast) for happy hour (5-7p), and they were so fresh. The frozen lychee colada and frozen blood orange margarita were both $10 for HH, delicious, and strong! The crispy rice tuna ($18) was okay, but definitely overpriced. Overall, great happy hour spot for drinks and oysters!
Great spot. Comes up aces on the big three factors all diners want: Food, Service, Atmosphere. Definitely going back to try more items from their menu (drink & food).
They stuck us by the bathroom hallway and then didn’t tell us the prices vary from what’s promoted on the sign outside at happy hour and tacked on another $50s worth of oysters, and the guy just stopped talking to us when we brought it up and had to pay out with another server, super awkward and very sketchy practice and at the end of it the dollar oyster things apparently ended for them a while ago so, look elsewhere in that dept, cause for this price I should just go to Claudette on 5th same price and I won’t be sitting by the toilet either. I will say other server felt really bad and tried to be kind about the mistake but I won’t be returning. I’ve also grown up in the city my whole life and never had such a bad reaction to asking about the bill, double check your bill before you pay is all I will say especially if you got the dark haired guy
I saw this place on tik tok Im a sea food lover and this spot is in my neighborhood so I had to give it a try. Firstly, its a beautiful restaurant! I went for oyster happy hour and the oysters were pretty big. The cocktails were so good especially the frozen Paloma, it comes in a teddy bar cup. The mussels were to die for, I got the angry ones which were spicy. Their salmon sashimi was amazing. Definitely come for happy hour its so worth it! A great date night spot! 10/10!
Dropped in for an event here recently and found myself not wanting to leave. Gorgeous space, great staff, really delicious food and cocktails. From the stylish decor to the creative menu you can just tell they put a lot of thought and care into this place. Great energy all around. I definitely appreciate this new spot opening up in the neighborhood and I will definitely be back. Probably way too often!
Great Food,Oysters,Great Atmosphere, Great Waiters, A Number 1 Place,To Visit When On The Lower East Side!!!
We were headed to a show and wanted to grab dinner near the venue. Ama was the closest spot so we figured wed give it a shot. Im so glad that we did!! We ate at the bar and I tried a few of their signature cocktails. The lychee martini was delicious! The bartender/owner, Will, was happy to make some cool mocktails for my NA fiance. He was super nice and we chatted for a while. The food was incredible!!!! We ordered Wasabi brown butter shrimp with jalapeno miso rice... The shrimp were amazing, but the rice was so unique and delicious... I never knew rice could be THAT good. We also had the mussels and the sauce was so awesome that we drank the leftovers like soup lol. The ambiance and decor were hip, clean and beautiful. Totally obsessed with Ama. Now well have to make it a point to come back here!!
My life is better because Ama Raw Bar exists. The restaurant opened in my neighborhood in January 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic began. My wife and I had the opportunity to visit during their soft opening and immediately fell in love with the staff, the menu, and the atmosphere. Once the pandemic hit, things slowed down around the city, but we kept coming back time and time again. We got to meet the staff on a personal level and they made life seem less lonely and they developed community with other restaurants on the block. When I decided to propose to my then-girlfriend, I knew who to call. Ama graciously hosted us in their private Kiki Room and helped me transform the whole space with candles and rose petals and a romantic meal after she said Yes. More recently, we hosted our engagement party at Ama and it was an easy decision to make. They welcomed 40 of our closest friends and family in a private setting and served their delicious food and cocktails throughout the event. Everyone was thrilled and impressed with the smooth operation.Staff: Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, caring, and highly professional. Special shout-outs to Will, Harvey, Brandon, Megan, Jenny. They make our lives better every time we visit and they are all veterans of the NYC restaurant scene.Menu: I could name many of the dishes and cocktails, but I’ll narrow it down to the best of the best. Must try the Salmon Ceviche Tacos, the Fried Chicken or Shrimp Bao Buns, the Mussels (mellow sauce or angry sauce are amazing), and of course the incredible Oysters that are the best I’ve had anywhere and are a steal during Happy Hour pricing. In terms of drinks, I love the Mezcal Negroni and the Spicy Palawan and the rotating Pinot Noir wine.In summary, if you’re in the East Village and looking for a delicious and fun time then go to Ama. And if you’re not in the East Village, then go to the East Village and visit Ama.
Everything was exceptional and delicious. Oysters, bao buns, crispy rice tuna app, and the angry mussel broth will change your life
I go here all the time with my friends. Its always tasty and we love the service. My personal favorites on the menu are the spicy tuna crispy rice, the bao buns, and the oysters! Make sure to reserve a table if you can, it gets busy really quickly once it opens.
Although my friend and I were shamefully late to our reservation and arrived close to closing time, the staff were still very welcoming and they treated us amazingly. This place is a gem - the service, food and ambience are incredible. I had the oysters, the octopus with wasabi, and the “luscious mussels,” which included a lemongrass lobster broth and a whole chili lobster tail. It was the best and most unique mussels dish I’ve ever tasted. Five stars. The ambience was also fantastic and modern/trendy but still quite chill without overly loud thumping music. I would highly recommend this spot, and I will be back for that killer happy hour with $1 oysters.
Great oyster happy hour! We made a reservation, which I would recommend otherwise getting a table on a Saturday night as a walking is hard. Our favorites were:- Miso Glazed Salmon- oysters- shrimp appetizer (I forgot the name but we liked it so much we got a Sedona order)- the lobster bao bun was great- angry muscles were also interesting, especially if you are a kimchi fanWe were celebrating my moms birthday and the staff surprised us with mochi and a candle, I didn’t even ask for it.Overall highly recommend, 100% worth the trek if you are not in the neighborhood.
Great casual spot for simple seafood eats and drinks. The vibe would work for a date night but they also have a nice bar area if you’re on your own. The oyster options are limited - east or west coast - but for the happy hour price I’m not complaining. I ordered a dozen of the east coast and they were very fresh and tasty. Popcorn shrimp was also solid as was the mellow mussels. I’ll be back.
Went here for dinner this week for the first time and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was beautifully designed and had amazing quality seafood and great service. Definitely try the seared tuna, kale salad, and my absolute favorite the crispy oyster bao bun. I want to put the sauce they use for it on everything.
Great happy hour deals! 4-7pm every day. $1 oysters and $9-10 cocktails. The cocktails here are very good and pretty strong! Frozen lillikoi and spicy Palawan with tequila are delicious. I also recommend the crispy rice tuna!
This place blew my mind! The shrimp cocktail and their homemade cocktail sauce was incredible. The Mellow Mussels were Thai Heaven and the Lobster Mussels has the perfect sauce!! The outdoor seating was a nice touch
Delicious Asian inspired seafood dishes. Cool ambience as well.
Great spot, great staff, solid food and drink. Come by off hours to really enjoy the place - has a great semi private room that still has good vibes instead of feeling like a tomb.
Love this place! I normally pop by here after work with my husband. Last night we had the raw clams for an appetizer and for the main I ordered the Angry Mussels! Service is always great and their cocktails are bomb!
Had our company holiday party at Ama .The space is beautiful and the staff are warm and welcoming.Harvey and Will the owners were very accommodating with our dietary restrictions and even facilitated having kosher wine for one of our guests. Looking forward to hosting my next event here and visiting them for dinner very soon. I’m sure this will become a regular spot for me.
Wow. The quality of the oysters, the quality of the mussels. This place is worth EVERY PENNY.Unassuming, cool environment. Incredibly attentive staff (Shout out Angie). Definitely coming back again and again.
This place was amazing! The staff was super nice and welcoming. The food was incredible; we had the Canadian oysters, lobster bao and drunken mussels which were all delicious. Drinks were well crafted and tasty. Definitely recommend this spot!!
I couldnt be happier with my experience here. Hosted a birthday get-together with about 30 friends on a Saturday night in the Kiki Room — Carly worked with me to get everything situated and was super helpful when we were having technical issues getting our music connected to the rooms speaker. The ambiance was excellent and we had plenty of space to mingle. The cocktails are delicious (the Blushing Ama and the pandan cocktail were my favorites) and I ordered some platters which everyone loved. High marks for the crispy rice tuna and the edamame hummus.Service (Timmi helped us out) was friendly and attentive throughout the entire night. Id host an event here again without a second thought and Im looking forward to trying it out again soon for dinner!
Salmon ceviche tacos were not at all what I expected. Almost like a triangular chalupa with ceviche inside. Really tasty.Didn’t love the Vietnamese coffee martini tbh, but the lychee freeze was solid. Skip the vegetarian ramen. Would like to come back for happy hour.
I am shocked at their happy hour oysters. We had 18 for under $24 and they were 1) some of the best (if not the best) oysters Ive ever had and 2) accompanied by the most delicious sauces. Ive never been someone to add anything but lemon or Tabasco to my oysters, but their lemongrass and ponzu were to die for.In addition, we had the tuna crispy rice (gluten free!), steak tartare, wings, & bulgogi bao.Gluten free tuna with crispy rice was delicious & packed with flavor and texture. The steak tartare was such a new twist on a classic dish, we couldnt stop coming back for more. The scallion ranch for the wings really pushed the plate over the top. The bulgogi bao were delicious and packed with flavor!Would not hesitate to drop in again!!
I absolutely adore this place. The food and service are both excellent without fail every time. Fun selection of cocktails and good happy hour 4-7 each day. I recommend the bao buns and ramen lobster.
Lobster Ramen could have used some spice or sour notes. Tuna on crispy rice had a great texture.
Great service and great quality food
Happy Hour is absolutely worth it! You get to order between East or West coast (I liked the east more), the crispy rice tuna is probably the best of the starters we had. The mussels were good and the shrimp was unique but wasnt the best entre we picked. We probably wouldve ordered another set of their mussels. Thei drinks were an absolute delight. Had the lychee martini and lychee colada (this tastes like an Asian taro sago drink). Definitely would come back here or the West Village location assuming its the same.
The foods, the drinks, the atmosphere is amazing the bartenders are very chilled. For the bar food I highly recommend the spicy tuna rice, the chicken bao bun, and the yellow tail jalapeno. For the drinks if you are into fruity drinks go for miho, for semi sweet An Bang Collins, and for nice and strong Kofuna. Once you try it you will fall enchanted by this restaurant so be aware 😝.
This place just opened two blocks away from me. They have great cocktails and great food...so far. Apparently more to come-- I caught a glimpse of the upcoming full menu, which looks really good! Im looking forward to making this a regular spot to grab a drink after work or for a nice, chill night out.
Excellent. I’m a local and have been looking for a nearby raw bar - and I found my match. Absolutely love the atmosphere, cocktail list, and menu. Make sure to try the Fried Oyster Bao Buns! Also a great place to host intimate events.
One of the best dining experiences that Ive had in a long time. The service was beyond compassion. The food was delicious and a fresh approach. Did I mention the tasty drinks? There needs to be a 6th star!
I looooove seafood. The food was delicious! I went with the Lobster Ramen!! The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
While searching for a bar to host my 30th birthday, I stumbled upon Will (the amazing owner) and Ama Raw Bar. Will and his team helped me plan a birthday that was beyond my wildest dreams. The food, cocktails and vibes were amazing. My friends and family had the best time and are still talking about the epic night. I can’t wait to make Ama my regular bar!
A real popular spot in LES with excellent outdoor seatings, killer drinks, and amazing services.$1 oysters until 7pm. The starters and mains are great too. Call and book a table first if you have a party bigger than 4. If not, you may not even be able to get one.
Such a great place ! Highly recommended
Super vibey new raw bar that opened up and when you walk in you immediately feel cooler. Had $1 oysters and $6 lychee martinis all night on a Friday which is a great deal. The cocktails were excellent and the lychee martini was not the usual syrupy sugar bomb that other places usually have. Also tried the spicy Palawan (tequila) and their spin on the old fashioned. The best thing (besides oysters) was the spicy tuna rice, which had individual little bites with perfectly crispy rice bottom. Only wish it was a tad spicier! Also the seared tuna was served in this gorgeous slightly sweet sauce with a smoky salt. And the crispy chicken bao had perfectly tender and crunchy karage style chicken. Still on soft open menu so must go back to try the full thing. The venue renovation is gorgeous with dark moody tones. Also they have a cute private event space with a back patio that allows dogs.
Went for the happy hour ($1/oyster). Theres plenty of options other than oysters under the raw bar section. Friendly staff (they brought up wrong dishes a couple of times but it didnt bother us at all) and fresh seafood. The lychee martini was on point 🍸
Went here straight from NYPL for their oyster happy hour !! Super satisfied. We sat outside and the staff was still super attentive to us. We got the half East Coast-half West Coast oysters which were super fresh and yummy – to fill our tummy a bit, we got the Crispy Oyster Bao Buns with yuzu kosho aioli, sesame, and house slaw which were super good :> my friend also had the Lychee Martini. Great happy hour experience !!
Oysters were tasty. Great portioned mussels, and nori fries were a great complement. Yummy mocktail. I love lychee!
Loved the vibe. Ambiance was on point. Happy hour cocktails were amazing. Food was great. I loved everything.
Kiki Room is adorable! Nori Fries; Oyster Happy Hour!
Great outdoor seating on Ave B which is closed down. Really nice staff. 1 dollar oysters at happy hour. Nice eclectic menu with Asian seafood mix. Really nice cocktail list and solid beer choices. Would highly recommend. Very COVID conscious and felt safe throughout. Backyard seating as well.
Seconding the review directly below by Charlie ONeill. The only thing that bugged me was the loud women we were seated near in the back garden, which was a little tight. The heating lamps had just been installed and the staff was a bit confused as to how they worked and where we were allowed to be seated (we had to move since they had a party that had apparently reserved the table we were initially seated at). I would go back for the dollar happy hour oysters.
Great cocktails, delish well-priced oysters
$1 oysters forever! Cute location but the back patio had all kinds of flying bugs. I’ll probably sit in front or inside next time.
The oysters and fries at happy hour with the house draft is a wonderful meal. But the service is the extraordinary feature of this restaurant. Unsurpassed service.
It was so good the oyster west coast the best
Cute patio area and attentive service. Friends appreciated the drinks and the nori fries were very good.
Went down the street for happy hour. Great deals - especially if you love $1 oysters. Strong drinks. Good food and quick staff.
Great happy hour oysters, bao were delicious, and mussels were super tasty and plentiful. Great spot.
The muscles are an awesome main dish.big and tasty. Service and drinks great, but make sure you get the muscles for the table.
Pretty decent Happy Hour! 1.25 for oysters and $11 drinks—I recommend the spiked lychee slush or the lychee martini. the nori fries were also very good!
Terrific place for small plates, great sit down area both inside and outside. Bar also a plus. Attentive service and atmosphere is welcoming and intimate.
Got oysters during happy hour and the wasabi brown butter shrimp
This restaurant is an interesting combination of oyster bar & restaurant. I thought the oysters were just ok, slightly small & hard to tell the difference between east & west coast oysters. The miso salmon was good, but a little over cooked. We sat outside & there was an immense number of flies hovering above that was unappetizing. However the service was good & our hostess saw that we forgot a bag & ran over to return it to us very nice!
Prefacing this with the fact that I’ve heard wonderful things about the space, their happy hour, and the fried chicken bun.We went for dinner for some, cocktails for others at about 9pm. Staff was perfectly friendly. We were seated in the back room, which I wouldn’t recommend or choose next time I’m there—not the same atmosphere as the rest of the space. The restaurant was busy, but the four of us were alone in the room.My sister’s food didn’t come, and they brought an app we didn’t order and an extra side of fries, then charged us for both. Service was slow enough that we didn’t have time to have them remove the extra charges from our check.
Great new addition to east village !$1 oysters and $6 dollar lychee martinis!Cant wait for the full menu!
Super good food!!! Oysters are fresh and melo muscles were yum!!
I always come back here for fresh mussels and nori fries. Food was delicious and drinks were nice too. Staff are always friendly. Will definitely come back
Oysters are great, drinks are awesome, vibes are on point. 10/10 would recommend. Place slaps
Decent happy hour. There is a hidden credit card fee “admin fee” that no one mentions/ not on the menu. Service should be more transparent.
Delicious food + drinks + even better staff. Great service, all smiles.
Im editing this review after 2 years, and because I want to share an oustrnding fact. The food and the service got even better, and considering the already staggering starting point Im loving this place in a renovated way.
Came here for the ceviche tacos and the service was PERFECTION. Go sit at the bar because the bartender (Maddie?) is wonderful. 10/10
Happy Hour Oysters for $1 we also ordered the avocado and salmonMy daughter and I stopped in here before the operaThey were fabulous with a dirty martiniI could eat 3 dozen alone 😂
Enjoyed dinner with friends at this restaurant tonight, particularly impressed by the lobster wonton soup! Looking forward to be back.
Ama raw bar is a Gem! Recently had a private event at Ama East village for our wedding after party and the food, drinks and space was amazing. Carly was an amazing resource and helped us cater the food and drinks menu from day one. Would recommend for a night out or an event! Thanks so much team!
We were in the mood for shrimp cocktail and we decided to come backShrimp - A+Shrimp Buns - A+Lobster buns - B minusFries - AService was excellent
This place is awesome. Great raw bar, cool vibes, sexy space. Reasonable too. Going to be a great neighborhood addition.
The drink are ok. A predominantly sea food appetizer type of place. Good for a quick stop
Fire oyster happy hour
Excellent Food! (Havent tried the Drinks yet, but Im Definitely going back again!)
The best food, the best drinks, the best service. Bury me in crispy tuna!!! I love you Ama!!!
This is a perfect restaurant. The food was incredible and the cocktails were amazing. We were greeted by the manager, Carly, and she was extremely warm and welcoming. I don’t know how there isn’t a line around the block for this place!
Super fresh seafood, unique flavors, and stellar service. Would happily eat here again!
Food and drinks are great, but I have to say that Ive made multiple visits because of the super nice staff.
Friendly, welcoming, fun. If youre not happy when you arrive youll be all smiles when you (reluctantly) leave.
Vibe very cute, and service was great...now here comes the but, food was not the best, lacking seasoning and flavor very basic tasting.
Great drinks and service. Order each bao, delicious! Has a club vibe
This place has really cool seasonal cocktails as well as happy hour oysters every day! The staff is really attentive and accommodating. I recommend this place for groups and date night! Try their frozen drinks before summer is over!!
Great food and people. Incredible service and excellent menu. Piper, Simone and Hallie were so kind and considerate. Carly, a manager who wasn’t even working, was such a difference maker in the night. You’ll come here again and again. Don’t sleep on the lychee martini and the beef buns.
Good spot, good drinks & food. Unfortunately the waitress had attitude and rushed us. I understand it’s busy and there’s a time limit (90m) on happy hour, but we had been there for all of 45 minutes and received an eye roll and verbal suggestion that there was another party and we should hurry up.
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Been coming to their happy hour forever, the vibes and drinks are on point.Don’t sleep on the bao buns
Great happy hour and yummy small plates
This place is beyond perfection. The food. The drinks. The staff. Hard stop.THIS IS THE PLACE!!
Love this place for happy hour drinks & food. 10/10. Food, drinks, service & atmosphere are always impeccable
Delicious oysters and mussels along with tasty appetizers great food
Yum! Delicious and luxurious oyster happy hour.
First of all, staff is awesome. I’ve gone here twice with my sister and friends, Will and Carly are so sweet!!!! The happy hour is such a great deal and the oysters are so fresh. LOVE the lychee martinis!
Love this place! Great food, atmosphere and service. The Kiki room in the back is so cute and the vibe is fantastic. The frozendrinks are delicious. Love the Lychee Martini and the Mandarin Daiquiri. I had the Wasabi Brown Butter Shrimp. Loved it! Cantwait to go back and try the Lobster Bao Bun.
I came late when happy hour was about to end. The place was super booked and the hosts went out of their ways to make sure I get a seat before happy hour ends and get enough oysters. Everyone is incredibly kind and empathetic. I had a great time!
Truly one of the best happy hours i’ve ever been to, the oyster deal is incredible, the drinks and small plates are delicious, 10/10 cannot recommend enough
The express gin was amazing!!! & the kale salad is so good !
Great spot. Food, staff, drinks and soundtrack all wonderful.
Great oysters and fresh!
Wow, amazing, this should be a Michelin star restaurant! Some of the best oysters at a good price and awesome service in NYC!!! The whole ambiance is on point. 20/10 you gotta check this place out
Pleasantly surprised…..Fantastic food, staff where lovelyCrunchy tuna rice was bomb!!
My absolute favorite spot for oysters and drinks! Happy Hour is great and the staff are super friendly. Great spot for dates and catching up with friends. Decor is really nice! Ask to sit in the back (warmer weather recommended)
5 Stars because I can’t leave 6!This place is phenomenal! I’ve eaten there 3 times and every time I am reminded of how fabulous it is. Lobster boa has got to be my favorite…and who knew you needed a bit of crunch in a reimagined lobster roll? These guys are doing it right. I recommend AMA to all of my clients, and I make them head to the east village to experience this inventive menu. Can’t wait to visit again!
Drinks were mwoah, service was ok, my wife’s food was good (but hey, it’s hard to screw up a raw fish sashimi or similar)I had the lobster ramen which was a shame to even call a ramen dish. Ramen were not fresh and over cooked, so was the lobster. Also there wasn’t any broth or anything to even resemble a ramen dish, instead the ramen came in a bisque.
Service was good, but food wasnt for me. Its a super popular, but wasnt my vibe. Also limited craft beer choice, so again a personal thing rather than anything negative.
Incredible oysters! Really delicious. The other dishes were lacking in flavor/sizeResponse to below: nice to see a proactive restaurant! The wings probably need more salt and citrus to bring out the flavor of the spice mix (which is very good). The salmon tacos tasted good but were under filled / very small.
Delicious, fresh seafood and wonderful cocktails. Loved my time here.
Amazing atmosphere, food, and customer service!!
Truly amazing service and food every single time! Bao buns are the best in the city
Loved this restaurant. Excellent cocktails. Raw bar to die for. Good scene. It was a Saturday evening and it was not overly crowded but it was full. The host was just woderful.
Food so good, spectacular happy hour, bestest bartenders
Really cute intimate place to catch-up with a friend or perhaps a date. Great service. I didnt eat much since I ate beforehand but I tried some of their fries and mussels. Nice food but I wouldnt come back here for them. I would definitely come back for their cocktails though. Typical nyc expensive but they were so well balanced and oh so delicious. Part of me wanted to try them all. Ill likely come back to do so.
Came here on a whim with my husband to celebrate the end of dry January and wow, so glad we did. Carly, the manager was a dream; helpful, engaging, enthusiastic. Highly recommend salmon ceviche tacos, angry mussels, shrimp Bao buns. As far as cocktails- lychee martinis were great! (Not too sweet) but the star cocktail was the matcha paradaisu. Will be going back. 10 out of 10
The service, ambience (music wow!), crispy rice tuna, honestly every single dish we ordered was incredible. Highly recommend the Bulgogi bao buns and Drunken Mussels as well. This is a must for date night, group dinner, etc. Will be back again and again!!
Impromptu visit as my friend and I had been working at the nearby library and Ama was around! Both raw oysters & fried oyster buns were good. Might come back again since I didn’t get to try their frozen lychee colada last time.
The BEST!! Great atmosphere, fresh oysters, amazing cocktails, and impeccable service. My favorites are the raw scallop dish, the lobster ramen, and the $1 dollar oyster happy hour! I love this place so much I literally go once a week (at least).
Awesome salmon taco’s! And lobster bao .Happy hour oysters were good, not the best but good.
Ama is truly a gem. It ticks all of the boxes. The food is delicious and presented beautifully, the cocktails are well thought out and also delicious. Tying it all together, the interior and the staff are warm and inviting. This was a great find and I will be back often.
Favorite happy hour in the neighborhood, probably in the city. The drinks are unique and always delightful. The oysters never disappoint. The crispy rice tuna appetizer always delights. The mussels are really exceptional as well. The service is great and I cannot recommend them highly enough
Incredible all around. Staff is wonderful and attentive. Raw bar is so fresh and delicious. We got oysters and the lobster. The Bao (buns) are such a great supplement to a raw bar. Lovely place and atmosphere. Excellent execution of a raw bar with an Asian flair. Highly recommend
Wildly overpriced for mediocrity. Draws a crowd for their oyster HH.
Service was great and we loved the backyard. We’ll be back soon!
Good vibeFresh seafoodFriendly and on point service 👌🏼
Great neighborhood spot. Perfect for happy hour oysters & cocktails. They also have a great lounge in the back for private events or just a cool place to have a drink . The raw bar looks great in the room. Cant wait for the warm weather when I can take advantage of the backyard space. This will definitely be a regular spot for me & the crew.
The owners Rita and Will are truly the best! We had a party of 15 and could not be happier about the service. The food was exceptional (especially the oysters) and the space was perfect. So happy they are right down the street from us!
The new best spot in Alphabet city! Food was delicious !! I recommend the 12 oysters, really fresh and at $1/oysters ! Sooo worth it!Also the crispy rice tuna, to die for! We also had the crispy oyster buns and the mellow mussels.Everything was delightful, refined and interesting !Also the staff is super friendly, great vibes and great decor! Will be back a lot for sure!
Amazingly curated cocktail list. You can’t go wrong with any of the options. The food is delicious and the oysters come with three amazing homemade sauces! My favorite is the lemongrass minognnete and with it probably the best oysters I’ve ever had. Additionally, the staff is friendly and attentive and there to make sure you have a good time.
Great food and prosecco! Definitely try the lobster bao bun (warm) and mussels - they give you what felt like an endless stream of mussels, not just a handful like most places. The service is great and attentive, as well!
Great setting, food, and drinks. Happy hour is a decent deal as well
Cool vibe, space felt like a converted home. Had a couple drinks, wasabi octopus, and oysters from the raw bar. We were heading somewhere else for dinner, but plan on coming back to try some mains.
Nice happy hour and great people.
I have been to this restaurant a few times now and love it! First off the people there are all so nice and the service has been on point. The Miho cocktail is a must try and even as a vegetarian there are so many yummy options on the menu. Since I’ve had their vegetable ramen I crave it all the time now! This is such a gem in the East Village!
Best happy hour in east village
Ordered up some oysters asked for Tabasco sauce they bring me a small cup of hot sauce but was not tabasco sauce. The waiter and 3 other staff said it was tabasco sauce but how come they couldnt show me a bottle of tabasco sauce? It was a deal breaker for me so we left to another spot.
Love this place! Tried with a friend for the first time and was blown away by the food! You have to try the deviled eggs. The bartender was so nice and attentive. He gave great recommendations for food and drinks. I will 100% be back!
Asian leaning slick seafood spot for an upscale East Village night out
Came here with my BFF for our oysters day during happy hour and ate some damn good oysters!! Happy hour is where it’s at
Im really digging the Asian influences throughout the menu and the cocktails (which are really killer!) at my new favorite spot. The owners are breathing new life into an amazing location, I cant wait to see what they have in store for the back yard when the weather gets warmer! Until then Im happy to grab the Kofuna and post up in the back room to wait out the cold weather.
Really good food and awesome drink menu. The back room is cozy and chill. Was at an event there recently and the cooks/bartenders were great and assured everyone had a good time.
Great spot for oysters & cocktails! Really good vibes in the space, nice welcoming staff. Crispy tuna rice is amazing!
Great happy hour & service ….what more can a girl ask for in NYC!
Great staff. Courteous, efficient. Had 2 dozen good oysters, 1 beer. Staff gets the 4.
Excellent fresh seafood selections & wonderful bar choices. We love the Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner & $1 Oysters during Happy Hour
Great place for delicious food and cocktails! The owners, Harvey and Will, will make you feel right at home in their beautiful location. Love the spicy tuna crispy rice and the three types of bao buns! Can’t wait to try more. The atmosphere is awesome: welcoming and relaxed. Make sure to check out the Kiki room in the back!
Stumbled upon this spot and was drawn in by the sign outside for a $6 leche martini. The martini was delicious, highly recommend. Everyone was very nice and the space is beautiful. Can not speak to the food.
Happy hours oysters probably the best I’ve tried.
Elegant and ...5 stars! Food and drinks are Amazing!
Loved this place! Oysters are fresh and taste good and the staff is very friendly, Bill showed us the place and it’s really cool. definitely coming back!
We had a great time here, the cocktails were deliciouse and the food was great. Awesome atmosphere.
Good neighborhood addition. The to-go jello shots were fun for lockdown. Cant wait to eat and drink inside.
Rented out the place for a private event and they were so helpful and open to any ideas and set ups we had. They were even ok with us ordering food out and to bring in the place.
Great location. Amazing food. Bomb drinks. Just incredible!
Very nice service and unique and tasty Asian inspired dishes. Enjoyed a delicious oyster Happy Hour and also enjoyed the Salmon ceviche tacos.
I love Ama Raw Bar! This is such a great east village spot with great food and drinks. The raw oysters are super fresh, the crispy tuna rice is delicious, and I loved the lobster ramen. I have been here a few times now and its very consistent. Every cocktail i’ve tried i enjoyed. I recommend trying the spicy palawan if you like tequila. Will be back soon.
Came for happy hour oysters - stayed for the mussels (and the kimchi)
I LOVE AMA RAW BAR SO MUCH! The people, the food, the ambiance ❤️ Defff coming back every week!
The service is excellent, the food is amazing and the happy hour is definitely worth it! The server even brought a mochi with a candle in it for my husbands birthday!
Every cocktail was amazing, all the appetizers were insane, service was 13/10 if you don’t get the sticky rice tuna you’ve made a terrible mistake.
Best place for date night. Best place for birthday party. Best place for night cap! Such a great addition to the neighborhood.
Somewhat pricier for smaller portions, but overall delicious food!
Fantastic service, delicious oysters and the happy hour is great! Come visit :D
Absolutely love this place. Appreciated how the chef really brought out the flavors of the main ingredient in each of their dishes (we had the crispy rice tuna, lobster bao with bonito butter, lobster ramen, yellowtail jalapeño) while introducing delicate and unique flavors to them. The oysters were also great with the range of mignonette available. I would say this was really good Japanese and Asian food with a slight fusion. We liked it so much we came back the next day for the Happy Hour and $1 oysters. The service was also amazing and we felt so taken care of and loved that they explained the dishes and gave good recommendations. The curbside seating was really comfortable with the heaters available.
By far, my favorite East Village spot. A seafood lovers dream with fresh oysters, excellent cocktails and bao buns you can’t get enough of! Not to mention the Nori fries which are the ultimate bar snack. The friendly staff makes you feel like family; I seriously can’t wait to go back and Kiki with my faves 😊
The crispy tuna is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, and the spicy sesame drink is my favorite house special
