My wife and I went to The Ivy Room the other day and it did not disappoint! The Caviar Dirty Martini and Sidecar were amazing. We ordered the Citrus Cured Salmon, Beets & Figs, Roasted Japanese Eggplant and Steak Frites. Everything was very tasty. The service was great too. I think my favorite part was the live music though. They had this amazingly talented woman singing and another super talented musician on the piano. Overall, it was a great experience and well definitely be going back. We’ll have to take more photos next time.
Glee our server was absolutely amazing. She was so accommodating, friendly, and caring. She was always checking in on us making sure we had all that we needed. Our glasses never were empty. Glee had great conversation . We love her charisma and charm.
This review has nothing to do with the food, atmosphere or majority of the staff. This has to do with how we were treated the night of 11/21 when we went to have dinner with some friends we were visiting. We came from Florida to visit some friends and wanted to treat them to dinner. We went to the ivy room based on what they heard. I was told about the Pulsd app and when we got to the restaurant I went to purchase the package for the four of us. Our friends didnt want us to pay for them so we waited to be able to surprise them. When we got there it was empty save two other couples. The hostess was very helpful and let us know that we needed to have a reservation to use the discount but that she could make us one when we finished purchasing it. Our waitress however was very rude when she saw that we were purchasing it at that moment in the restaurant and went to inform the manager but not being from NY and having never used the app I was unaware of how it worked. When the manager came over, he took my phone, looked at the purchased dinners and told me that I could not purchase the package and use it the same day. The information clearly stated that a reservation was needed which the hostess said was not a problem but it did not mention anything about needing to be the same day. I asked for an exception or we would not be able to dine there and he said I guess you wont be dining here then. Ive never been in a situation were a manager cared so little about keeping customers in the restaurant. He offered no solutions, didnt take into account that I was not familiar with how it worked and even misrepresented the process of redeeming the discount. We read reviews that many of the waiters were very friendly and I wish that we would have had that experience. We were ready to tip well for the full price of the discounted meals and have a wonderful evening with friends but the manager made sure that that did not happen. We did not make a scene, complain or demand anything out of what was reasonable and now I have to go through the hassle of cancelling the Pulsd meals we purchased. Restaurant manager 101 is to listen, empathize and resolve. Thats how you protect the reputation of the restaurant and save a customer ensuring further business and positive word of mouth recommendations.
The place is small but is quite pretty. There’s no loud noise and the live music makes the place cosy and nicer.Food perspective - the portions were good in comparison to the price and were tasty, only thing is that it was a bit salty but still good.Drinks wise - we had the espresso martini and the classic cosmo, both goodService was nice!I would for sure come back
A group of nine of us shared an awesome afternoon at the Jazz Brunch at The Ivy Room courtesy of Pulsd. Although the afternoon started with a little hiccup, our host, Cheeta (I hope I am spelling it correctly) made our afternoon a pleasure, the service was great, the food was delicious and the Bottomless was amazing. The Jazz duo played nice songs and even played a special one for us and came to our table to meet us. Everyone enjoyed their food choices, my Skirt Steak was perfectly cooked with a Chimiichurri sauce and sweet potatoes. Our next venture will be to come back for the Jazz Dinner.
This place is fantastic! The food was amazing. We ordered the steak, it was great.Ask for Triana, her service was great! Highly recommended!
Wonderful atmosphere! Delightful warm colors, browns and greens and yellows, stand out out across a cool floor. The staff is warm to fit the vibes, and earnest. Our server Hemal was friendly and made great suggestions. I liked the brown butter gnochii and the smoked old fashioned was to die for!
I visit NYC frequently, this was a great spot near our hotel when my husband and I were visiting. Great decor, strong and good cocktails, great foods and incredible service from Triana.
I had an outstanding experience at The Ivy Room tonight. The live performance was so glorious and the atmosphere was fantastic, creating a welcoming vibe with music. The food was delicious, and the service, led by the friendly and helpful waitress Hemal, was truly impressive. His recommendations, especially the profiteroles dessert, were spot on. My kids loved it so much. Overall, a delightful dining experience that I would highly recommend.
There’s something about The Ivy Room that keeps me coming back for more—it’s a perfect blend of charm, flavor, and live energy. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere wraps you in its cozy embrace, and the live music? It’s like the heartbeat of the place, giving every meal a rhythm. The Dirty Shrimp Cocktail is my starter of choice—bold, zesty, and always packed with flavor. And then there’s the Ivy Room Burger, a well-portioned masterpiece that hits the spot every time. But what really sets The Ivy Room apart is the people. The staff aren’t just servers; they’re the kind of friendly faces that make you feel like a regular, even on your first visit.Great food, live music, and service with a genuine smile—it’s the perfect recipe for a memorable dining experience. If you’re looking for a spot that’s both laid-back and vibrant, The Ivy Room is your go-to. Trust me, you’ll leave with more than just a full stomach—you’ll leave with a story to tell.
Beautiful atmosphere, great drinks and the food was delicious!Enjoyed the live music! (Yellow piano)
Dark piano bar and jazzy vocals + delicious food = a must-do on date night. For num nums, start with the satisfying Potato Pave. Continue with the hearty Lamb Bolognese featuring some of the best handmade spinach cavatelli youll find anywhere, and add a Grilled Branzino that would make Daniel Boulud weep. Maybe throw in a side of Crispy Potatoes & Mushrooms that manage to be perfectly crunchy despite how wet mushrooms are. The desserts wont blow your mind with uniqueness, but the Profiteroles feature some top-notch choux.Seriously, where is this chef from? Rooftop/piano bars are supposed to have crappy, overpriced food, not this perfect representation of upscale New American. Im annoyed I havent been eating here for years. Our only miss was our Winter Tonic cocktail. It was one large goblet of watered down bitters with a stick of rosemary. But sokay, because that just enables my wallet to focus on the food.
The experience was disappointing, to say the least. The food was average, but the worst part was the service. Although the waitress initially acted polite, both she and the manager seemed stressed and unapproachable. Despite barely touching my meal, the waitress didn’t bother to ask how the food was. When it came time to pay, we noticed a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill. Feeling that it was undeserved due to the mediocre food and service, we adjusted it to 15%, which would have been $30 instead of $36. This sparked unnecessary drama. The waitress reacted unprofessionally, making a scene and trying to guilt me over the reduced tip. When I attempted to explain politely, she turned her back and ignored me. The manager apologized, but the damage was done.To make matters worse, the hostess was equally unprofessional, loudly chewing gum and singing along to the music playing in the restaurant. It felt more like a children’s party than a dining experience. Absolutely not worth the visit or the price.
Beautiful space and the outdoor terrace with the fireplace is perfectly cozy on a chilly night. Khalidas’s service was top notch as well. The only thing I have to complain about is the live music… it was FAR too loud to the point it was impossible to have a conversation with the person sitting right next to me. The music would’ve been fine if it weren’t for the speaker being so obnoxiously loud. Kind of a shame.
The menu wasnt very extensive, and there werent many options for vegetarians. The live music was okay. They had a nice seating area on the patio.
Honestly, this place was such a huge let down. The waitress was so rude and stuck up, and she seemed to only care about the customers that were regulars. I talked to order a mocktail (I don’t drink) and was given a look of confusion mixed with disgust. The food was also not great at all… the Rosemary Focaccia was just basic bread, definitely not focaccia, drizzled with olive oil. The Wagyu Burger was sliders and 100% not wagyu, honestly McDonald’s burger was better than that. The only reason 2 stars instead of 1 is the piano music. The guy was excellent.
UPDATE Aug 16, 2024: Kenneth, the GM of Ivy Room took the time to call me to understand what happened, and I gave him specific and constructive feedback on the dishes. It was a great conversation, and I appreciated how receptive he was! Again, excellent service and attention. I would be glad to give them another chance some time.——ORIGINAL REVIEW: Aug 14, 2024Service was amazing - waiters were so attentive and friendly. Food arrived at a good pace. Manager even came by to ask how things were. The ambiance was excellent, loved the piano bar/live music. What I liked too was that the music wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t converse and enjoy the company, it was just right. Based solely on the drinks, vibe, and service, I would 💯 be back.We came for Restaurant Week and the food was not good - not terrible but I wouldn’t come back specifically to eat here. Maybe it was just the fixed menu but we were all underwhelmed. I had the clam risotto appetizer and it tasted almost undercooked. The eggplant main was nothing special. Overall, for what you spend — even for Restaurant Week — you can definitely find tastier meals in midtown. My advice for management would be: keep up the amazing service and environment but revisit the menu
The beautiful decor, delicious food, friendly and accommodating wait staff, live music and ambient atmosphere is top tier! Wonderful experience overall, I will definitely be visiting again! Its also near some of the best attractions like Met Museum which we also visited!
The Ivy Room was an incredible experience. From the ambiance, to the music, the menu and staff. My server, Kalidis, was so knowledgeable about the menu and all of the wines. He was extremely kind and attentive the entire night. I am definitely coming back with more friends soon.
What a lovely space! This place is great for an intimate date or a small group of friends. The ambiance is moody, topped with excellent live music, food, and drinks. We had the salmon appetizer as well as the shrimp cocktail, both of which were delicious. We followed with the Branzino and Hanger Steak entrées- they were cooked to perfection. We had the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich, which was delicately decadent. Bonus: it was my husbands birthday tonight, and they made him feel very special.
The Greatest atmosphere with a woman who sang a perfect vibe for an engagement to take place that night of July 13, 2024.
Triana was amazing! Excellent steak and frites and I really enjoyed their toasted almond old fashioned. The live jazz made for a classy environment! Would definitely return.
The food and drinks (ordered the risotto and toasted almond old fashion) are good, the ambiance and live music are amazing. Definitely recommend
Excellent breakfast and super friendly staff! They clearly work hard to keep up with the popularity of this place! This is a “do again” sort of place. Try the breakfast bowl. Yum!
First I want to say, for anyone looking to rent a space for an event or bday party I would definitely suggest The Ivy Room and Lounge area. The space is a perfect size for something private and with rooftop access. Now for the food. The guest I invited out had the branzino fish which was amazing. I actually brought her there just for that fish. It was perfectly cooked, I’m on a plant thing right now so I didn’t get fish but if I wasn’t I would have definitely ordered that. I tasted a small piece and it was delicious. My food however looked like dog food. I ordered the eggplant and cauliflower and it came out looking like something from an episode of Chopped however with that presentation it could have never won an episode. I was so stunned when I saw my plate but did not want to go into the whole “can you take it back” because it was really important to me to focus on my guest who I didn’t know that well. And I figured the place was too nice for it to taste bad and I was right it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t anything to write home about and who could get over how horrible the meal looked. Will I be back…maybe. I would love to order the fish and the service was really great despite my meal. But Ivy Room please, take the eggplant off the menu. There are so many sexier ways that you could present an eggplant. Also the appetizers could be more appealing. I feel like calamari should be on there but it wasn’t.
Kalidass is the best! I saw an amazing live performance here & the vibes are spectacular. The workers are so on point & I can’t wait to be back.
Dont remember being here but it looks nice
I visited this place on 9/20/2024 for the dinner service (served by Hemal) and on 10/27/2024 for Brunch (served by John and Cheetah). The food quality, service, and entertainment were exceptional for the price. A great value and one of NYCs best kept secrets. Will come again.11/5/2024 - UpdateAgain, I received top-notch service from Hemal and Angelica. Loved the expresso martini.11/6/2024 - UpdateBack again. Loved the singing performance by Melissa and Sam. Great service from Triana. I think I am becoming a regular 🤔
Great cocktails and incredibly tasty, unique dishes!
One my fave chill spots in NYC ! I love to come here to listen to an amazing piano player , eat nice food and drink awesome cocktails. I’ve had tuna tartare (10/10) , mushroom toasts (9/10) lobster roll (9/10) , truffle fries (7/10) and my favorite royal manhattan (10/10 + 100 points for the presentation) . Check my videos for full view of this place.
Rocky start with slow drink service and server not really understanding/able to describe menu items and seemingly perplexed by request for off menu drink itemBartender came thru though with the requested drinkFood was quite tasty - please consider larger plates though as food was a bit hard to manage on smallish platesPianist Aaron was lovely
Rushed from the moment we sat to the moment we left. Infact we left after appetites because we felt so rushed. Heads up they showed us a no shows so we couldn’t leave a review on opentable. Avoid. The bar next door however was excellent.
Real hidden gem, live music makes for cozy vibes, and I was impressed by the quality of food.
We are staying at the Royalton and after a long day in the city, the kids and I took a chance and headed upstairs to the Ivy Room. I cant express enough how great the service was. They were amazing. We on a whim ordered a Cacio e Pepe and my kids were so blown away, we devoured the first and ordered a second. Literally one of the best I have ever had! Also had the tuna fried appetizer which was outstanding. Finished with a pumpkin espresso martini-outstanding!!! Highly recommend and was beyond pleasant Surprised . Amazing singers and band as well.
I recently dined at the Ivy Room, a charming rooftop restaurant with live music, and had a fantastic experience. Our server, Hemel, was outstanding and recommended we try the steak frites. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great meal, excellent service, and a lively atmosphere.
Amazing piano lounge on park avenue. The food was great. If youre a dirty martini fan, try the dirty vesper.
Was there tonight with a voucher, the service is very good , the food I wouldn’t said such nothing to rave about . One antree was burger with fries, which was shoe strings, which I really don’t like , the burger is small and did not came with much condiments which it good , you can taste the meat. The other antree was chicken with carrots, carrot was a little excessive, pieces of grilled and purée, chicken not much flavor . The old fashioned drink is good
Great food, amazing rooftop terrace.
Review is solely based on the ineffective and insincere Social Media team which is replying- grasping at any positive and apologizing for some very specific negatives and asking for feedback but providing no way to contact themIts called Pandering - and I would hope an establishment like the Royalton could hire a better team
If youre looking for a hidden gem with live music and aesthetic cocktails/food this is the place.
Had the kindest waiter Kalidas!! Nice atmosphere and location. Great staff and drinks.
Not my first time! But we got lucky with our waiter, Kalidhas. He made our anniversary very special and helped me pick the best food and drinks! Kalidhas is amazing this man knows what’s up. Thank you!
I had an exceptional dining experience at Ivy Room last night. The service provided by my server, Hemal, was top notch and everything came on time. The cacio e pepe was a culinary delight, showcasing the chef’s expertise. What added a unique touch to the ambiance was the live band, comprising talented blind musicians whose performance was truly captivating. A memorable evening marked by excellent service, delectable food, and a heartwarming musical experience. Highly recommend Ivy Room for a delightful dining experience.
Giving 4 stars for food because the restaurant was out of items we wanted. Kalidasa was super friendly and really accommodating, which made our dining experience awesome!
The food is good, but for a $17 avocado toast I expected more than one piece of bread :( $30 after tax and tip for a coffee and piece of toast, and I’m still hungry!
Great service, great atmosphere, and good food. Highly recommend
The Ivy Room and its companion Ivy Lounge are hidden gems sitting atop the Royalton in Park Avenue. Our out of town friends booked us for cocktails and dinner. The express elevator requires a leap by pressing P1 (we assume it means Penthouse 1, wayfinding could be improved). We were very warmly received by reception immediately. Our friends quickly arrived. We enjoyed a few martinis, Manhattans and a few orders of shoe string fries in the Lounge catching up before dinner. The bar venue offered low key lighting, ambience allowing conversation, comfortable seating, attentive service, expertly made cocktails and I cant stop eating these fries. Our four top table was graciously held for us (we got carried away in conversation). The dining venue mirrored the vibe in the Lounge with banquette and chairs, ample table space, a stealthy server and assistant, a short wine list (10 each whites and reds), our San Giovese went well with our entree choices. We ordered pan con tamate as a starter which Im not sure wed do again. Our entrees included hangar steak, chicken palliard, and branzino. There were no complaints. Portion sizes were substantial. Above all the prices were outstanding. The surprise was the entertainment in the form of a live vocal jazz performance. The vocalist and saxophone player were the top! Check out these venues when next in the area.
Incredibly rude host. Even though we had dinner and drinks, stayed for less than 2 hours in a bar with an ever empty table, the host kept returning every 20 minutes asking if we wanted something else and looking his wrist watch.
The food is equivalent to cruise food, the desserts are stale, and they threw an extra $80 on the bill if you order the steak. We called it out and they halved it instead of removing the whole additional charge. We then asked again and they finally gave up on the scam they were trying to pull. We watched them bring out the wrong food for the couples next to us then when it was our turn they also brought us food we didn’t order. Gave us dessert before our mains like they wanted us out of there. Very poor service, the only pleasant part of the night was the live music.
This is truly a unique setting with great live music.
Amazing food. The music is lovely. Its small, cozy and chill which makes it a lovely respite from the fast paced nature of the city.
Beautiful romantic place with great music and excellent service
Wonderful time. Great atmosphere.
Everything was perfect, the meal, the atmosphere and the staff.
