Best place for oysters! Love their happy hour deal 4-7 daily 6 oysters and a glass of beer for 6$ or 16 for a glass of wine. Excellent variety. We ended up staying for dinner too and got their daily special (branzino with zucchini noodles) and their fettuccine clam and the fried shrimps as appetizers. Both were 10/10 recommend. Couple next to us got the surf and turf which looked delicious! For the price and the quality of seafood definitely will be coming back soon.

This was my second visit (the first being a date night in a weekday). I was insistent that we return since I was feenin for the crudo ever since I had it the first time. Had a reservation for 7:30p on a Sunday evening. The place was pretty busy, so the 3 of us stayed at the bar instead of waiting for our table to open.Really amazing experience all around. We started with oyster shooters, clams, and cocktails. When the rest of our party arrived, we all shared a flight of the available oysters, escargot, squid ink uni pasta, and the daily scallops. Everything was fresh, balanced, and delicious. Nothing was too salty, slimy, or over seasoned. The bartender and servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. This is definitely now on my list of NYC places to frequent!

From the outside this restaurant looks simple and welcoming, but I was so so happy with my decision to stop in on a warm spring day. We got seated near the windows which allowed for the perfect breeze. I started with the happy hour special, one NY state local beer and a half dozen oysters for $12. I got the wheat beer with raspberry undertones and it was phenomenal with the brine of the oysters. For my main I decided to have a little fun and get the squid ink and sea urchin. I was afraid that it would be too fishy with the roe but I couldn’t stop eating this dish.My boyfriend got the tuna tartare to start and the surf and turf. He said the tuna was one of the best things he’s ever ordered. However the steak was a little chewy. Nonetheless, we can’t wait to come back after work.

This oyster bar offers four main categories on the menu: appetizers, main courses, oysters, and beverages. They provide a small order slip where you can write down the quantity of oysters youd like. The main courses are generously portioned, priced between $20 and $30. Oysters are divided into two main types: West Coast and East Coast, ranging from $2.85 to $4 each. West Coast oysters are rich and sweet, while East Coast oysters are refreshing and salty. We ordered 10 East Coast oysters and 2 West Coast oysters. Personally, we preferred the West Coast oysters as the East Coast ones were a bit too salty for our taste. The interior is dimly lit, romantic, and cozy, with four bar seats where you can watch the kitchen in action. Overall, this oyster bar offers excellent value for money and comes highly recommended!

One of my all time favorite spots on the east village. Come between 5-7 any day for the oyster+ beer happy hour. Relaxed atmosphere, great service and phenomenal food. Can’t beat the value: 24 oysters, 4 beers, uni squid pasta and 4 scallops for $105!? Must try!!

This was our first meal on our trip to the city. We wanted to eat somewhere with oysters and good clam sauce. This place was mentioned in an article as having good clam sauce so we gave it a try. We werent disappointed. The clam sauce was fantastic. The restaurant is an unpretentious neighborhood spot with great service, excellent food and a comfortable atmosphere. The selection of beers and wine pair well with the food. There were just enough choices for every taste without being overwhelming. The happy hour prices were a pleasant surprise. We couldnt have been happier. This was perfect start to our trip.

Literally the worst service I’ve ever experienced in my life. It sucks because I actually enjoyed the food but because of the service I’ll never come back.We had a reservation at 6 and got there at 6:05. Reservations clearly don’t matter here because we had to wait 10 minutes for our table. The couple in front of us who also had a reservation at 6 were still waiting because they reserved the balcony while we were getting seated. Although this is something I wouldn’t have even minded because I get that it gets busy and you can’t always time things correctly. What really pissed me off was after we initially ordered our oysters, wine, and entrees we wanted to get another drink. Our waitress was outside talking so I just flagged down the first waiter that walked by. He responded to me “Not for me”. Okay one rude waiter doesn’t make a whole establishment. I tried to flag down the next waiter that walked by and he looked at me and just ignored me and walked right past me. Then I see the first waiter I tried to flag down and asked him “If you can’t take my order, can you bring my waitress?” and once again he walked away and did not bring the waitress. After all of this goes down the hostess comes up to us and asks if we would mind moving tables to the high chairs (I think because they had a bigger party coming in and once again they don’t plan out these reservations well enough). I explained to her what happened and I most definitely will not be moving tables after everyone I’ve tried to flag down has straight up ignored me. I’m sorry you want me to do you a favor when I can’t even order another glass of wine? PleaseAnyways eventually we got our food, which I enjoyed but I the people who work here are honestly the worst.

Good Oysters and a great happy hour deal for them. Should offer NY Wines, per its name.Visited the place twice, waited for an hour to get a table for 2 ppl. The oyster was fresh and sweet, also had a taste on the crispy crab and scallop, Id say they are both fairly good. Probably will not go back for the third time considering the wait being so long..

They overbooked people and we ended up waiting over half an hour despite arriving earlier than our reservation time. Our reservation was at 6:15pm, and they sat us down at 6:40. Service is also very slow, its been another 30 mins since we placed the order, were still waiting for our food as Im writing this review.Update:The server for our table was extremly disrespectful. He told my friend to put your hand down as if shes a child and then walked away to get water when we were merely hoping to get his attention to order food. Not sure if its because were three small Asian ladies because he didnt treat the two tables next to us with the same level of disrespect.Although the food was okay (the escargot was flavorless but the oysters, squid ink pasta, and the scallop w/ carrot purée were decent), we would never return to this place again and would advise others to avoid it because theres just so many other restaurants with much better service and food in this neighborhood.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to visit Upstate Craft Beer & Oyster Bar by reading its great reviews on Yelp. The decor is vintage style with cozy and relaxing ambiance. Our dinner started with $12 Happy Hour, 6 oysters with one beer (Mother’s Milk Stout). The quality of oysters was decent and fresh. We had Escargot ($13) from shared plate and Squid Ink Pasta with Uni and Salmon Roe ($23) from main plate.Their food was amazingly delicious especially the Squid Ink Pasta. The sauce was flavorful & creamy and the texture was various from chewy noodles to soft sea urchin. It’s definitely one of the best pastas we have ever had in NYC.After meal, the staff served their complimentary dessert, whiskey infused pound cake. My husband loved it so much due to the strong alcohol taste and the balance of sweetness from the cake & bitterness from the whiskey.

Ive visited this oyster bar countless times over the decade Ive lived in New York. However, our last visit on February 24, 2024, marked a disappointing change.Disappointment 1 - Unequal Treatment: Discrimination Against AsiansWe had reserved a table for three at 5 but arrived 15 minutes late due to weekend traffic. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty at 5:15 PM—with only one table occupied in the dining room and the bar area deserted—the receptionist informed us they could no longer hold our table due to our tardiness, offering seating around the bar or outside. Given the cold day, we preferred not to sit outdoors, so I politely inquired if we could wait at the bar for a dining room table to become available. The receptionist refused, stating that table assignments could not be altered once guests were seated. (Ironically, later, we observed a Caucasian couple being reseated upon request.)Attempting to resolve the reservation issue, I successfully booked another table for three at 5:30 through Google. However, upon showing this to the receptionist, she dismissed it, claiming no tables were available. Doubtful of her honesty, we were advised to return at 6:30 PM when she assured us seating would be available. So we waited next door at The Headless Widow. During our wait, I secured another reservation for 6:15 PM and returned to the oyster bar at 6:00 PM to check on our seating. Surprisingly, at 6:07 PM, the receptionist seated us as if the previous booking issues never existed.Disappointment 2 - Unfair Bill & Bad ServiceAfter we were seated, I ordered 4 happy hour combos with wine, my go-to order at this restaurant. The server typically takes the 4 glasses of wine order as a bottle. Later, we ordered another set of 4 happy hour combos with wine. The waitress promptly brought the second bottle accompanying our meal. However, the oysters did not arrive after a 40-minute wait. I informed the waiter in the restaurant that we wished to cancel our oysters due to the lengthy wait, and he assured us it was no problem. Shortly after, the waitress approached our table aggressively, stating we could not cancel the oyster order since the wine bottle had already been delivered and accusing me of being inconsiderate despite our 40-minute wait.I explained that I had already canceled the order with the waiter and would not pay for items we never received. She then angrily presented us with the check, which still included the 8 happy hour combos with wine.I told her that in this case, I was expecting to pay only for four happy hour combos with wine + a bottle of wine. She then reacted with a tantrum, disputing the equivalence of four glasses of wine to a bottle and demanding payment for the incorrect bill. After going back and forth, she finally agreed to adjust the bill, yelled at me, saying forget about the tips, and wished me to leave ASAP.Disappointment 3 - Deliberate Damage to My CardAfter paying the bill with our card, we didnt use the same card for several days. It wasnt until today that I discovered the chip on our card had been deliberately damaged. Deep scratches are visible on the chip, as shown in the picture. Clearly, the damage occurred on the day we dined at the restaurant after we handed in the card for the bill. It was such low-class behavior, something I would never have expected to experience in a restaurant that I used to love visiting.Experiences like these tarnish a businesss reputation and highlight the urgent need to address issues of discrimination. I urge the management to investigate these incidents, take appropriate action against such discriminatory practices, and ensure that all customers feel welcomed and valued. Let this be a turning point towards a more inclusive and respectful dining experience for everyone.

My friend and I went there a bit over 5pm on a Sunday and didn’t wait at all. Got two rounds of happy hour (each $12). For the first round we ordered a “sea salt” flavored beer and two of each oyster eligible for happy hour, which made a total of 6. Both were excellent, and we especially liked the oyster Grow Pasture from Cape Cod, MA so we had another 6 for the second round. We also had Grilled Tuna for the main, which was tender and well-seasoned. They gave us three small pieces of whiskey pound cake as a thank-you dessert, and it was also good. The service here was best characterized as hard-core: not a lot of courtesy or chit-chatting (which I absolutely DETEST) but to the point. Overall we were very satisfied!

This place was on my list to go for some time, and recently I dined here with some friends but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. We received our 20 oysters in between main courses, when we could hardly find a spot for them on the table. On our concern about getting main course before oysters he appeared indifferent and just rudely asked: “Have you ever cracked oysters before?”, roughly threw the plate on our table and left, no apologies or explanation. Drinks were ok and sounds like premade, when I asked for mezcal margarita they said that they have only premade mix of mezcal and watermelon for another cocktail and don’t have just a pure mezcal..weird…Oysters were great and dishes were ok. Overall it was a pretty unpleasant dining experience. Nothing to come back for.

I came here a while back and loved every minute of it. Since I moved back to the area, I decided to give it another shot...but I never made it inside.I had a reservation for the bar and showed up a few minutes early but was told there was no availability except outdoors. Mind you, the oysters would have been fine with the cold temps (and no heat) but not me! They told me to wait 20 minutes while patrons at the bar finished their stuff but there are just too many options in the area to wait 20 minutes during happy hour to be just outside. So in short, upstate was the first place I have been to that has not honored a reservation and wasnt even remotely concerned.

They were fresh and came with vinegar, horseradish, and cocktail sauce.Main:Clam Fettuccine: I personally do not enjoy the very strong seafood-y taste of clams so this dish was not for me. But if you like clams, youll definitely enjoy this! Although, I thought the pasta was a bit oily.Scallop Brown Rice Risotto: The scallops were good and seared well. The brown rice risotto wasnt very good as the rice was a bit hard and was also too salty.Free whiskey cake slices at the end. Tasty!Caution: No reservations so if you dont come early the wait can be lengthy. Also, you cant wait inside the restaurant.

My boyfriend and I love to go to happy hour here, and often we stay for dinner as well. The 6 oysters + craft beer for $12 is a great happy hour deal! For entrees, we often order the clam linguine and the scallops over risotto. Service is always quick, and weve never waited too long for a table even though it is a small place. Definitely check it out for reasonably priced, casual seafood.

Im not even an oyster eater but all their foods are fantastic nonetheless whether you go for oysters or other seafood dishes (like I do). In this small, bustling, and somewhat darkish dining den, you will experience such an epitome ambience of East Village--the neighborhood--with an amazing selection of beers and wines. The only complain would be a daunting amount of waiting time, but its worth it, I believe.

Outstanding oysters. Long list. Fresh daily. Some exclusive where they buy out the farm. They have other things on the menu to round out the meal. But if you dont like oysters, this is not the restaurant you are looking for. They do a stupidly popular happy hour offer of a select number of oysters, 6 and a beer for $12. Decent but its only going to whet your appetite.

This is not the perfect restaurant as some 5 star reviews tend to suggest. However, I would rate the oyster happy hour as a 4 star undertaking. For $12, you get a choice of three different types of oysters and a draft. As there are a large number of $1 oyster specials to choose from in the city, this happy hour basically boils down to six $1 oysters and a $6 draft. Is this an amazing deal? No, but its a solid choice with fresh oysters and its the entries that I have an issue with. We ordered crabcakes and seared scallops over a brown rice risotto. The crabcakes are tiny, the scallops were small and not seared properly and the risotto was not a risotto, but brown rice and a little bit of stock floating around the plate. Is it a nice place for happy hour? Absolutely. But is this a great seafood restaurant? Absolutely not.

Been on my list given it’s in the neighbourhood and on multiple NYC HH spots. Was truly impressed by the food. Oyster - agree with other reviewers prob the best in the city I’ve tried. There was touches of Japanese infused flavours that I wasn’t 100% thrilled by but regardless delicious. Squid ink pasta with uni & fish roe was the most delicious dish between textures and flavours. We shared everything plus had a cocktail each which was perfect. Will definitely return for HH.

We went for the oyster happy hour. (6 oysters that you choose from a list with a beer for $12) It was great. Best advice that I can give: Go right when they open. We got there at 5pm and literally by 5:30 the place was full. Our table was right by the door and we kept hearing them turn people away. They took some names at first but then they just sent people elsewhere. This place is small but super cute. The oysters were delicious and with the beer special its really great. Absolute best happy hour oyster place... best oysters in the city in terms of freshness, variety, rotation as well as the technical ability of their head cook/shucker... done so quickly and cleanly. Been 5 years and this is my go to spot for oyster craving. Also great rotating selection of craft ny beers and other seafood dishes! Only negative is that I find some of their cooked seafood options to be a bit underseasoned so I just stick to the raw appetizers which are super fresh and amazing.

Great casual spot in the east village for shellfish and beer. Youll find a small area for tables but a nice bar seating area. Service was outstanding as they explained all available oysters available and the different varieties of beer. We went for the siracha shrimp which looked fresh with the heads still on to add flavor and a nice kick. The seared scallops which had a nice ocean scallop flavor and the go to items a variety of oysters. Great price point on the oysters and suggestions from staff were spot on for sweetness and brineyness. Large variety of beers to accompany as well which will suit your taste.

No one rice grain was left on our plate. The great food paired with a good selection of wines and craft beers (have the fruit fly) was only made better by the great service sitting at the bar.Tucked away under a dark awning next to a flood of christmas lights from the Indian restaurants next door, you could easily miss it if you arent looking. Ive been coming to Upstate for a little over two years and every time I come, it never disappoints. But before I get to the awesomeness there are two things that you need to be aware of which I think if you get over; you will have a great time. You need to be prepared to wait but its LES near St. Marks. Just put your name down and they will text you. If youre hungry and getting restless in waiting Id say stop by Lukes Lobster and grab a quick snack with whoever youre going with (Sorry Shane for advertising another food place). Large groups are tough given the footprint of the restaurant however if you call and let them know ahead of time theyll do their best to accommodate.Ill start with the Oysters. Probably the best selection you can get in all of Manhattan without paying over 3 dollars an oyster. I would say as comprehensive as Aquagrill. Texture, tastes and quality is top tier. The half-dozen and beer for $12 is bang for your buck. Yes people need to stop telling me about the $8 dollar special at other places because its apples to oranges. Ill pay $4 more any day and pass up the Bluepoint and PBR special.Ive pretty much tried everything on the menu but ill talk about my favorites. To start or to share I would say the crab cakes and salmon tartar is the best. Crab cakes come with a little arugula and honey. This creates a taste that blends well as it creates a a great bitter sweet taste. Im a tartar fan so Ill say its seasoned well and is definitely sushi grade salmon. Followed by the octo salad and whatever they have ceviche. Im okay with these two but not my favorite.Entrees that I usually if not always get the linguine with clams, scallops with seasonal vegetables and the fish special. The linguine is definitely more on the garlic side but I love it. Scallops are always nicely grilled on the outside on high heat and still soft in the middle. Tough to comment on the fish because it changes seasonally but I would say its always flaky, never overcooked and fresh. To top it off is a slice of homemade whiskey cake. Cant beat that. I usually top off the night with a glass of Rose (which I always get made fun of for but its a great way to finish the night after 2-3 beers).I love this place and will be going here as long as its around.

Several weeks ago, I learned that 88 Palace hired the dim sum chef from Golden Unicorn and I was somewhat eager to revisit this restaurant for the first time in many years. 88 Palaces popularity stems from their great deal of every dim sum for $1.50. This promotion to win over patrons has proven to be very successful, but one has to wonder how much longer the restaurant can survive on such small margins as a result of it. It is highly recommended that people arrive early, or your craving of cheong fun (rice noodle rolls) might go unsatisfied. As a fan of the dim sum at The Golden Unicorn Restaurant at the E.Bway and Catherine Street, 88 Palace definitely showed tremendous improvement in the diversity and presentation of their offerings. All of the main dim sum items such as shumai, cheong fun, fung zao, and spare ribs were served hot and tasty. And the turnip cake actually has turnip in it ! I am glad to see that the investment into improving the quality of their dim sum has paid off. It has made 88 Palace a cheap and (dare I even say) solid choice for dim sum goers. On a side note, as Jando had mentioned in his review, beware of the old man servicing the mens room!

As someone who has lived in nyc her whole life im telling you these are the best happy hour oysters. They don’t give you lower quality oysters just bc it is happy hour. The place is a bit small but worth it.
