Uncle Charlies Piano Lounge

Management is rude and abrasive. Came with a group of people to celebrate an engagement- half of the group does not drink due to religious reasons and/or addiction running in the family but we wanted to celebrate our close friend and enjoy her favorite music. We were literally kicked out for not ordering drinks because “he needs to make money.” Enjoyed the vibe and would have liked to stay but would suggest taking business elsewhere where people are more respectful and empathetic.

Stopped by on a Saturday evening. It’s a quaint spot with a good vibe. If you’re looking for a non-pretentious, chill vibe this is the spot. The bar tenders are friendly, the drinks are tasty and the music is good.

We came here for an early evening drink and found the bar staff to be among the friendliest in New York. He also knew his whiskies super well. The bar itself also had a relaxed and friendly vibe and we really want to come back here another time when its busier and the piano is alive!

It’s a great piano bar to relax after work, and sing a few show tunes. John, Joseph , Juan Carlos and D are there to serve you delicious cocktails, and are a great listeners for advice you on all your troubles. They have a great patio in the back.

Very warm, welcoming, I felt part of a family. It’s NYC piano bar magic. Singers and aspiring Broadway singers come here and may dazzle you with their talents.

Whats not to like?? The bartenders are attentive and treat you like you are a regular even if youre new in town. The regulars are friendly and welcoming. Charlie was amazing and could play any song you requested... even the ones he didnt know! Such a great bar/lounge.

Popped in on a Sat night and the 6 of us ladies had a blast with O’Daddy piano man!Dont be deceived by the midtown kind of exterior and stairs up, It’s a lively gay bar with a small outdoor area in the back and a piano man playing everything from Whitney to show tunes to Elton to Britney.

Charlies has an absolutely fantastic atmosphere and impeccable service. Chill vibes, affordable (yummy) drinks, and intimate performances make this lounge my favorite late-night spot.Keep it up Uncle Charlies!

The piano bar was great! I loved the song choices and I actually decided to sing myself. It was fun and I would definitely go back again. I was alone though and wishing I had more friends who I could have hung out with there.

Stopped by Saturday night after years. This is my new favorite bar. So fun. Great piano and you can get up and sing! badly and all good. A real community. Met the best regulars. I moved to Fort Lauderdale back in 2015 and decided Im moving back up to Wonderful NY. I recently visited Uncle Charlies for the social atmosphere.. which brought back my Wonderful memories of the quality of NY.I will definitely hang out there regularly to enjoy life and make great new friends. I ❤️ NY.

What a great place with an amazing staff. We showed up unannounced on a Saturday night with a bridal party and Uncle Charlie’s PUT. OUT. Great service from the bar, fantastic music from the pianist, and elevated the energy of our already bubbling party more than we thought possible. 11/10 would piano again

We wandered in here on our back to our hotel for a drink and what a wonderful end to our evening. It is an upstairs bar with a super friendly local clientele. There was an amazing pianist who was accompanying an open mic night. So it was like karaoke with a live super skilled musician. Everyone was very welcoming and encouraging of each other. Great experience.

Visited this bar while in NYC for a week long client meeting and let me tell you...place was excellent! Went my first free night and they offered snacks, which won me over immediately since I love snacks, and the bartender was a great host. Loved it so much we brought a group the next night and they loved the place as well!Drinks are cheap, music is excellent, and the people are wonderful! Highly recommend going here!

I love Uncle Charlie’s. It’s a very lovely non-judgmental piano bar with an AMAZING staff and lovely patrons. One of those places where you sing your heart out and make lots of new friends 😊 a staple in midtown!

INCREDIBLE. Stopped here on our last night in the city on a whim. The moment we walked in the door we were greeted with the sound of piano and a voice of an angel belting out a Wicked song. Great place to chill out, grab a drink, and sing along to some fantastic tunes.

I love going here late at night after work to just hang out and chill by the piano bar if Chris is there, and sing some music or just listen to others. The vibe can differ night to night, just depends on the crowd that shows up. But what a great idea to have a live piano at a bar. Gives it character, instead of the other gay bars around town that are all the same from one to the other.

Bartender Jason was amazing! Also, the karaoke pianist Matthew was so good.. He could play literally anything and even helped out when you stumbled on certain songs. So. Much. Fun.

Super fun, gay, chill, divey piano bar friendly bartenders and staff patrons who are there to sing and have a good time and meet other people. Great for an entertaining night out.

Hard to describe how terrible the piano was. This is not a piano bar. This is a karaoke bar. It is old. Creepers will stalk any women you are with. It is terrible.

Hidden cozy gay bar in midtown. In the back there is a small out door patio. Bartender is friendly and makes the drinks well.

We were looking for a casual place to enjoy a few drinks and have a nice conversation. Uncle Charlie was great despite it being a slow night, I believe Eddie was on the piano. He was extremely friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in. I found the concept to be quite unique for a gay bar and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. JC at the bar was great as well!

A more casual piano bar than The Duplex, Maries Crisis, or Dont Tell Mamas. Come ready to sing, and tip your pianist!

I visited this location at the request of a friend and was completely appauled by a gentleman at the bar coddling a dog. Some places have no guidelines for sanitation I take it. I will not return.

Friendly piano bar near grand central station. It’s on the second floor. Draft beers are in the back bar. Outdoor patio as well.

In town from Australia and we wandered about looking for a nice place for a cocktail after dinner. We stumbled across this absolute gem of a bar. The drinks were fabulous as was the company, and Robert (I think that was his name) was looking after the music play list that night, and he could tell a yarn or two, and was really great for a story and a chat.We had a the best night there and only wished we could have gone back. Highly recommended.

Drinks could’ve been tastier. Otherwise pretty good definitely go back maybe a regular place for me.

We had a fabulous time last Saturday. Celebrated my birthday at Uncle Charleys. Great atmosphere, music provided by Owen Pelesh was wonderful. Patrons were so fun to be with. Had a great time.

Nice place, handsome guys and sort of old fashioned gay bar. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore. Too bad the apps have nearly destroyed the gay bar business. It ain’t the same.

The crowd was a little to young for my liking, but okay for a fun night.

Stumbled upon Uncle Charlie’s for a date. Great drinks, fun atmosphere and very nice bartenders. I would highly recommend this place to my guests.

Came here with a group of colleagues on a Wednesday night and absolutely loved it! It wasn’t too busy and you can easily get songs in to the lovely pianist who’s also a great singer!

Very relaxed. If youre not feeling like raging, this is your place. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the inside looks pretty fancy. Although the inside was very nice, the crowd was a mix of eccentric clothing to casual to formal attire. Great mix of people and excellent service

We came here unexpectedly on a Sunday afternoon after a birthday brunch. We were a group of 20 people and couldn’t have felt more welcome and cared for. Leo was the most AMAZING waiter and made the celebration, though unplanned, very special.

Throwback for piano bars of the 90s. An older crowd friendly continue mostly drunk. A well pointed space with lots of room. If youre looking for cruisy bar for young studs this is not it. But if youre looking to just relax and have a drink among the Elder Statesman of gay New York this is the place

Uncle Charlies is one of my favorite places in the city. The staff are charming and kind, and will treat you like family. If youre looking for a laid-back piano bar experience in a classy setting, this is it!

Great ambience, partly cause of the piano and karaoke. Two of my friends hastened to have their birthdays, and the manager opened two complimentary bottles of Champaign for them and made sure that they received enough attention and care for their special day. Left the place feeling grateful.

A fun place to gather if you don’t drink. The mixed drinks were the weakest I have ever had and the bartender was indignant that I said anything. We pour 2 shots in every drink! I wonder - 2 shots of what!? This place is not recommended by me.

Our group of 10 from Texas passed by on our way to dinner and decided to stop in on the way back to the hotel, not realizing this was a gay bar (we are all heterosexuals, lol)! We decided to stay and had the absolute best evening and so much fun! I would definitely recommend it for anyone who just wants to have fun and isnt judgemental! Loved it!

I went for a show that my friend held. The bar is beautiful. It was crowded so there was an issue with service but it was corrected and handled well by the manager.
