Absolutely stunning bar and a perfect date night spot. Sultry mood lighting in an old transformed church with gorgeous decor. The bartenders were very helpful and attentive and would without a doubt visit again.

I so badly want to love this place, but the ownership has failed time and time again. My partner and I are a 2 minute walk away and have had a blast drinking and dancing at the revamped Chapel Bar night club a few times over the past couple months. HOWEVER, I brought my family here tonight and the bar gave last call 15 minutes after we ordered our $25 cocktails and turned the lights on at 12am. Mind you, this place currently markets its close as 2am. The drinks were great, and the vibe is generally excellent but the obnoxious price and the fact that they kicked us out at 12am is embarrassing. Do not risk your evening plans coming here for an overpriced waste.

This place is a fantastic cocktail bar! 🍸 Chapel Bar (located inside an actual chapel 💒 ) serves a wonderful selection of cocktails 🍹 inside a beautifully decorated 🛋️ space! Definitely try The Crypt ⚰️ cocktail 🥃 (its super sweet and comes with slices of strawberry 🍓 on top) The ambience 🎶 is great, staff is friendly, and service is quick. ⏲️ Definitely try making a reservation 🛎️ online 🖥️, but they do accommodate walk-ins🚶when you arrive early. ⏰ I wish I came here earlier!

The rafters are decorated, the menus crypt-shaped and the whole place bathed in a subtle and warm candle-light.Most guests keep to themselves, sitting in groups of two to four around circular tables. Some also collect around the bar.The only place where this bar slipped up was the cocktails themselves, which sometimes did not pack the dynamic flavors that the venue warrants.Overall, my visit was excellent.But I would warn the proprietors to keep an eye on their menu, lest they fall into the trap of becoming little more than an Instagram bar.They want to be a destination, I would suggest, not a place on Reels.

Went in with basically no expectations, but was greeted with a friendly hostess, a waitress who was knowledgeable when I described what I was feeling and how that translated to what drink I was going to get and some really great cocktails.Just make a reservation because the space is very small and it was full when I left at 9pm.

Probably my favorite bar I went to in New York. It is part of an old church, which immediately intrigued me. They kept the classic architecture structures in place and added a bar in the middle with some seating around the edges. The drinks are on the high price (around $20) for a cocktail, but they are strong. Its a good place to start your night.

The ambiance and decor is amazing especially as its usually matched with Fotografiska exhibitions.Cocktails tastes are slightly above average but the aesthetics are subpar.

Great cocktails, great atmosphere, attentive service. We went at a time when reservations were restricted to Fotografiska members only, but the bar was not crowded, and the doorman, whom others have complained about, welcomed us in.Fun place to bring out of towners because there are no signs and so it comes across as place insiders know about.Only reason it did get five stars was the decision to play 80s pop loudly and non-stop. Yes its a bar, but the music was incredibly at odds with the lovely end-of-religion decor. I kept thinking if they only would put the Miles Davis/John Coltrane Prestige recordings from the 50s on a loop (theres at least five hours of music) the place would have been perfect.

I was goin to see the magician next door,so i made rsvp for 11:30pm. little did i know the show would run a few min pass 12am,so i cancelled my rsvp when we were told it was 2hrs. I still tried checkin it out and the guy at the door wouldnt let us in just to go have a drink...well i told him my story and he lets me in. I go in and nicely enough they still honored my rsvp, why wouldnt they though,the place was empty lol! Overall that was nice of them but also they should jus let ppl in regardless. the DJ was really good and fun and the drinks were delish. Our server was attentive too. Nice Experience overall

As per everyone else, the doorman was extremely rude and notated it was a Members Only bar on a Tuesday evening. Multiple people were standing out there as “Members Only” is listed no where on their page. Maybe take it off google? Either way,Rude doormen are never good for business! At least he was the same amount of RUDE to everyone lol!

Pretty sweet spot in terms of having the speakeasy vibe and beautifully decorated from the inside. The gin cocktails we got were great and the night we went the DJ was spinning disco tracks. However we were asked by the bouncer to leave after 40 mins because apparently we weren’t “supposed to be here, and we had crashed a private event”. What a joke!

Drinks were alright and not worth the price. I got a virgin mojito that was made extremely sour, and my friend didn’t enjoy her Singapore Sling. The ambiance is amazing and this would definitely make for a great, intimate date spot!

It is a beautiful place with good drinks and poor service. I was disappointed, but my friend and I were excited to try it. Just coming through the door inquiring about a table with the doorman was full of attitude, which turned me off. We saw our server twice the entire evening; when we ordered our drinks and asked for the bill, which took forever because she went to the M.I.A.We only had ONE drink because the server did not bother to return to the table to check on us or see if we wanted more drinks, which we did. We sat at the table for about an hour and a half with ONE drink. In addition, the hostess was very dismissive when I tried to ask for the bill because we could not reach our server to get the bill.My friend and I found this place beautiful, but the staffs attitude pissed me off to the point of wanting to leave as soon as possible. I had never been to an establishment where everyone had a terrible, dismissive, and rude attitude.

Unusual place for a bar. Interesting decor and environment. Good service. Limited access. Good to book in advance.

Used a pulsd voucher here since my group was on a budget but then we ended up staying for another round and by then the museum connected to the bar was closed … anyway we loved it here. Our waitress was very sweet and nice !! A gorgeous space that was smaller than we thought.

We came here for after dinner drinks on a Thursday evening, having been able to grab a reservation online. The space is very unique, and nicely oriented, making it feel spacious despite not being all that big. It wasn’t overly crowded at 9pm, with maybe 1/3 of the tables vacant. The cocktails were well made, but came with a hefty price tag. Presentation value is high here, from the ambiance to the drinks. Definitely worth a stop for something different that feels exclusive while still being accessible.

Great speakeasy-feeling upscale cocktail bar! the inside is small but beautifully decorated and the waitstaff is phenomenally attentive. we loved their take on the espresso martini and all of their chartreuse cocktails! definitely a must-visit to try at least once.

I love the Chapel Bar! I can go and relax with a great cocktail, listen to some music, chat with friends. Or go alone and meet the most interesting people.The drinks are good, the atmosphere is terrific, but the staff is the best. Hands down.

The Chapel bar is THE PLACE to be! Gorgeous private venue, amazing service and everyone dresses so well!! ✨Would go again! Didn’t get a chance to try their food haha oh but the alcohol was a bit too strong (for me hahah)!

This spot is an absolute GEM. If you’re looking to impress your date. This is a spot. Chic, high class, great Dj, even better drinks. Not cheap, worth every dime.

Decor - cool. Wait staff - despite attempts to be friendly we unfortunately felt confused and pushed around as we were first told first come first serve for seating and then told there is a wait list and subsequently were kicked out of our chairs. Red a yelp notification that this was a quiet unknown speak easy type place - i knew better but tried it anyway. Loud and crowded.. not worth it. Bartender was not friendly and drinks were not good! Bad martinis and bad suggestion in wine when a cab Sauvignon wasnt available. The only reason for the second star is because of the decor and the fact that the wait staff wasnt exactly horrible but also not super helpful or welcoming as they kicked us out and offered no compensation for the awkward situation.

Through an unassuming door of a museum lies the Chapel Bar. Deliciously charming, the cocktails are well crafted, as is the decor. The dimly lit ambience is relaxing and also might make you think that youve had a cocktail more than you have. Definitely a place worth checking out.

Come for the drinks, hope you can fit. If there is an event of any type going on, prepare to be engaged in a mass of musical chairs, if sitting down interest you. Standing up, prepared to be perpetually in the way.But the drinks… The drinks are amazing.

Don’t bother as it’s ‘members only’. Next door in the Fotografiska photography gallery is a great bar and restaurant called Veronica where they know how to make a martini…and more…with no B.S. on the door.

Perfect date night vibe- dress and glow up

Friendly staff from the Bouncer to the Hostess ro the Server. However, they dont have flute glasses for champagne/prosecco and their cheapest glass of prosecco is $25 which I found to be unreasonably priced.

Nice decor but the waitress wasnt very friendly and got incredibly mad at the end when we didnt tip her as much as she liked. Very strange behaviour.

Wanted to drop by spontaneously but had to make an reservation 24h before. Nice location but unfriendly service. They never smiled at us. Didn’t bother to refill the water. Drinks were okay but nothing special (had espresso martini. Tasted like vodka with a bit of coffee but wasn’t creamy at all. No sweetness. Foam was okay and lasted a bit.) and definitely not worth the price. Unfortunately we tipped the waitress for nothing than the bare minimum. Okay for one visit but wouldn’t come back. Music was also too loud (84-90 decibel, too loud to talk without an effort) and nothing special sound wise

I love this spot for pre-dinner drinks. They have great performances earlier in the evening as well. After 10pm it gets a little more rowdy which is fun too . The staff is terrific from the door to the waitresses. Keep it up! Great job!

We came in Thursday night and my friend had crutches from spraining her ankle earlier that day. The hostess was incredibly warm and accommodating, found a table for us quickly even while it was busy! DJ was great, drinks are super unique and high quality. People were also really social and we met a lot of new folks. New fave in the area!

We came in right before they closed and they nicely let us in for a few drinks. Really sweet spot and beautiful chandelier.

Ambience was great! But the drinks were very average.

Beautiful venue. Was quite chilly when I went but the architectural glory was enough to make me deal with it. Drinks are definitely on the pricy side but you’re in an absolutely gorgeous setting in Manhattan so it’s to be expected. Will definitely return!

1 star for excellent ambiance. I sure will if I could find a place to put negative stars. So I ordered a Crypt and a pineapple juice. I got a bill for 45$. Even as a New Yorker, I got a sticker shock. Then I saw a 30% tip on the point-of-sale console. I adjusted it to $1.5 per drink. So it was at $40I went back to my seat and got restless thinking about the amount. I went back to the bar to check the prices. The other bartender looked up the recent charges on his main console and told me I was charged for a mocktail that was four dollars extra.So lets calculate now. Even at the current inflated prices of $36 including tips, there is a wide difference between that and the $45 that I was originally charged. Criminal. Not going back again. Photgrafiska Museum management should take cognizance of this.

This bar in Manhattan is possibly the most pretentious. The staff doesn’t even make an effort to do the bare minimum, and the funky music choice creates a lame ambiance.

Very unfriendly staff. They said they seat people with reservations only so we stood at the bar and watched a whole section of seats empty for 1.5 hrs. They won’t allow anyone to occupy even if nobody’s showed up !This place is pretentious enough to believe $50 martini is normal . The drinks are just ok and not worth the bonb they charge because they are located in a high ceilinged church (which somehow entitles them to charge atrocious prices for poor service) . Avoid !

This speakeasy is in a really unique location, but I have no idea what happened to the two service ladies to acquire such an attitude. Extremely unprofessional and condescending. Best not to tip, because the service wont care anyway, and they arent worth it either. Drinks are good, but too strong and alcoholic to have 2-3 of them. However, the service cant stand it if you dont order more right away. Better go somewhere else!

Unpleasant ExperienceMy recent visit to chapel for a birthday celebration was marred by a rude doorman who claimed it was a members-only night. The lack of courtesy and misinformation was disappointing and shows a bigger picture as a venue. It’s a hard pass.

Came here with reservations on a tuesday night with some friends. really cool concept with great music (groovy, dance-y, etc.). i especially loved the ambiance inside; it was dimly lit and had a rustic feel (lots of dark furniture, wood, suede seating, etc.). staff was also very friendly.giving this place a 3/5 because the drinks were overpriced for their lack of complexity and mediocre taste. my friend got a virgin mojito and she had to water it down bcoz it was so lime-forward; it could have used simple syrup and more soda vs. lime juice. i got the singapore sling, which was strong, but tasted like a very sweet hi-c fruit punch. of the drinks we tried, would recommend the crpyt.

We rented this place out for a private event ($20k+ for 4 hours) and the service was awful. Speakers had blown and the event guy only wanted to know where his tip was. No one even smiled at us. Don’t bother going here! Waste of time and money!

Beautiful space and amazing performances. Went for my best friends birthday last night and helped out a little backstage and also costume designed the outfit for the birthday boy. Front of house staff was rude and weren’t doing their job with getting the right people in, coat check and check in area seemed stand-offish, and bar staff was by far the worst experience ever as I was waiting 20 minutes to get a drink as various others were getting served as soon as they got to the bar. Bartender on right side of the bar near the dj booth would look at me and then get someone else’s drink order. Finally getting my order in with this rude bartender the drink I ordered was extremely watered down and tasted as if something rancid was put in it. Will never be ordering a drink from here again and will only be coming to support my friends who work there as hosts, promoters, DJ’s, and performers. Do better and train your staff to be better people.

Very disappointing that the people say we couldnt wear bermuda shorts, during the heatwave then we can in an empty bar where people wore Bermuda shorts...my friend who has blood pressure almost fainted....plus the cocktails are very expensive and the service is very unfriendly....this place wont last.

Its really noisy, but its so pretty. The girls are really pretty and friendly. There are no seats at the bar, so reservations are recommended!

2 pretty girls on a New York trip went there and were turned away in an unfriendly manner, quite bitter for such a good looking bar in front of us there was a whole group that got in without any problems and we didnt. Although we definitely werent underdressed.
