I went there with my brother for his birthday! It was a comedy show -- Dont Tell Comedy. It was good! I wouldve enjoyed it more if I wasnt so tired that night. Great atmosphere, good comics, good drinks!
Cellino & Barnes - off Broadway win!Pros:Entertaining, FunnyEngaging even for those who don’t remember 1800888888Great performancesIntimate theatreGood bar in frontNot 2.5 hours long so you can go on a Sunday nightGood to know:Front row seats really are front row- you’re on same level as actors — but you also might win the grand prizeSmall part of action takes place floor level (actors seated on floor)QR code for your program - they don’t believe in charity 😂
Cellino and Barnes was a pleasant surpriseWe decided just to go do something and Im glad we did. Soooo entertaining, informative and hilarious, it never dragged. Glad we went will look for more by this location
Asylum NYC sounds like a great spot for a fun weeknight outing with friends! Its awesome that they host SoFar Sounds events, which are known for featuring up-and-coming musicians in intimate settings. Grabbing drinks and enjoying some live music is a perfect way to unwind in the middle of the week.
Clean theatre. Bar in the front is great but would be great if they had hot drinks also.Celling vs Barnes - super funny especially if you remember the commercials.
Came here for Harrison Greenbaum’s show. Nice place. Just one thing, there’s no way for the drink holder on the seats holding any drinks from the lounge bar. 😂
The club is designed as a theatre stage where the comedians can perform on a center platform.I attend a show of improvised sets which was very funny. The performers were talents and I had a good time.No minimal drink order required
The show was great. Enjoyed what the venue offered. I would make the bench seats with a little more cushion for the seat and back.
Saw Cellino & Barnes. Very funny. Decent space for short plays.
Phenomenal experience. It was my first time here and the performance exceeded my expectations. This is a must-see event, even if no two shows are the same!
Incredible new space for comedy. What they’re planning on for the basement is nothing short of amazing
Cellino v. Barnes is a hilarious, bizarre take on a true New York business drama.
Theres no food here. Its an incredible bar with a theater/stage. We were there to see Shitzprobe. One of my favorite things to do in NYC!
Excellent use of space and a great performing venue. The staff is very helpful. They have interesting and different shows, things off the beaten path that people will be talking about. Its a great place to go to see some familiar faces along with some new work. They also offer classes which look very enticing and professional. Ive done work with groups like them before and recommend their classes and projects.
Always amazing experience. The bartender remembered my drink of choice after a month the moment I walked in...
The atmosphere of the place was good. The show could be better. Thank you.
Unintentionally I arrived 15 minutes late to the play, but fortunately the play was also delayed and didnt have started yet.Despite this, the blonde receptionist rudely reminded me of my tardiness multiple times and insisted I sit in the late arrivals section screaming it out loud infront the whole staff that were at the theatre that night! Her attitude stressed me out so much that I couldnt find my online ticket, and she didnt give me time to look for it, forcing me to buy a new one.I know 10-15 minutes late is such a big deal and I apologize because certainly it was not my intention being late, however if me being late was such a deal breaker they shouldnt let people in AT ALL.I dont go to the theater to be reminded of the time or to deal with rude staff, even when just getting a glass of water, or being humiliated in public about my sitting when there wasnt even a setting number when purchasing the tickets to beging with. The play started 8 minutes after I was seated. While turning off my phone for the play, a producer hit my head with his key holder, thinking I was taking a picture or I dont know what.Ironically, someones phone rang during the play, (very rude) and they werent reprimanded at all or questioned about it.
Saw the Cellino vs Barnes show, it was great
This was a great night out. The actors gave a wonderful performance, a nice mix of improv and sketch shows. They are recently established so the show was a bit more intimate - needed to be prepared to call out and interact! Went to the one in Boston which was also great, these guys just started in New York. I hope they continue to grow. Thanks for a wonderful time!
Saw Stamptown here - it was a blast!! Nice tiered seating and small stage but enough room so that you dont feel cramped. Nice people working, hilarious shows, and good vibes all around
We enjoyed the Sunday night comedy show - the flagship show, which was a part of the North Coast festival. It was two improv acts based on two suggestions from the audience. Was pretty good, although sometimes was a bit hard to hear when they were facing the other way. I wouldn’t recommend if you are not comfortable with people not wearing masks though.
I just saw the show tonight and it was killer—most fun weve had in a long time and love that its right in the heart of Chelsea. Grabbed a nice coffee before from across the street and then drinks at Improv Asylum. Perfection and I think I won date night! The show was brilliant and we laughed non-stop. There was a slight disruption during the show, but probably just someone a little too tipsy, but the cast rolled with it. Will definitely be back!!!
Amazing show really fun. We had a great time
The old ucb they have cleaned up the place with some new paint. Looks great. Is a mix of improve and sketch comedy. Tix were 15$ beers 6$ a fun show would def. Recommend for an entertaining night
Celino & Barnes was amazing! Amazing script performed by incredible actors!
Chill vibe. I would come back.
Great show tonight! The story/skit using Adrians life story was spot on hilarious. The comedy team did a great job of incorporating audience elements throughout the show.
Great comedy shows and great bar atmosphere
We saw Shitzprobe and We Will Turn You Gay improv shows on our recent trip to NYC. Both excellent and venue staff v friendly. Great location
Dont go here. Literally ever. Dont spend any of your money here. The comedians are pretty funny but the security tried to tell me and my group twice to be quiet, meanwhile the actors were asking for input for their show. So basically they ask you to speak up then you get in trouble. Losers. This is not with it considering the availability of shows in NYC. Do not give them your money.
Cellino and Barnes is a great show
Outstanding cast and venue!!! xoxoxo
Always a fun time. Ive attended to improv asylum in Boston many times so finally got a chance to check out the new(er) NYC club. Nice perk, if you go to the late main stage show on Friday or Saturday you can stay for the late night raunch show for free
FYI-Masks still required indoors except for beverages during show- not sure for how much longer- hard to keep the mask on when singing and laughing so much!
Saw Titanique a musical spoof of the Titanic narrated by a Celine Dion impersonator very fun very funny whole cast was amazing!!!
Saw a show did not order anything
Excellent performance
Went to see Titanique — great energy by the cast and audience and drinks were reasonably priced!
Great show but the sound systems werent working so well.
Saw @ntbcomedy performance of [Insert Musical] Jokes which was so clever and hilarious! The remodeled venue is so much better than before.
Great show, the whole crew is entertaining and I will definitely be back.
These guys are amazing. Every bit as good as the old UCB theater that was here. Go see them!!!
The comedians are hysterical and quick on their feet! Definitely a fun night out with friends or for a date! Night of fun!
Baby Want Candy improv was hilarious! Affordable tickets too.
Very Nice Combo of comedian I really enjoy my 2 hours...recommended😉
Amazing serviceIt was a great experience visitng this location, it as amazing and cool, it lively as well
Awesome date night idea, lots of space and great talent
Fun skit, def stay for the 45 min improv after
We saw a skit show competition that was…. Yikes. I guess half the audience must have known the performers because otherwise I don’t know what they were laughing at. I’ve seen high school skits that were better written.
Very funny crew. We had a great time!
Hilarious comedy experience! Drinks were cheap too!
Best theater in the basement of a grocery store ever.
First time there and we were blown away. Loved the mix of standup and improv. The entire cast was hilarious. Slightly disappointed that David Cross was unable to attend but his stand in did a great job. Will definitely be coming back. Place is not BYOB but they have 2 bars inside. Entire audience was full so would recommend buying tickets in advance.
Went to see Titanica. Nice place to see the show. We had side seats and it was great
Amazing show! Reasonable price drinks and no minimum! The comedians were excellent! Highly recommended it!
Great shows, decent drink selection. Fun spot
Well done short form improv and skits.
Saw theater production there. Intimate basement theater; unfortunately, sightings are obscured by support beams.
Have never watched anything as bad as this aka bad musical performance. Horrible experience and waste of my evening.
Small space and not handicap accessible. The show was fantastic but the space isnt great.
An unexpected and hilarious comedy show with cool venue vibes. My friend and I just passed by this place and decided to go for it, as tickets were $20.For that price, the quality was amazing. First, an opening act, then interactions with the audience, then using that to base their improv sets on, a stand up scene, and their closing scene with more improv based on a question they asked the audience (weird flexes you’ve overheard).Though I wouldn’t say all scenes were DYING laughing, the stand up was SO funny and some scenes from the improv were so funny and clever. The audience members were also really interactive and created a really nice vibe.Would definitely go again.
Great to see what theyve done with the place. Good contemporary comedy.
Lot of fun - really great when the crowd gets into it - and if you have time you can wait about 30 min to catch another show for free thats a bit more PG13
North Coast is hilarious and incredibly talented. Pretty cheap for what you get
So much fun! Funny show great cast!
Great space and great sound. Love it.
Hysterical improv show! Could not stop laughing, thanks for the great time. I’ll definately be back!
Really cool place to see comedy shows.
A fun place to laugh, blush, and even partake!
Prior to sunset! Funny and unique!
One of the best comedy club
The people here are so friendly and welcoming
Nice place, nice shows, clean, friendly!
