It is situated in a calm residential area and I could enjoy seeing local coffee lovers come and around drinking their cup of coffee. My flat white felt like it had a single shot, but the almond croissant was amazing. The cafe was super awesome and made my trip in NYC unforgettable

Some of the best coffee Ive ever had, which consistently brings me back. I wish the music wasnt so loud and more ambient. There are people who come here to work/write, and the top 40 hits are distracting and do not match the vibe. Ill probably stop working here as a result, but will sometimes come back for the coffee.

Amazing coffee. Great vibes / setting.Only feedback for owners: Weekend staff needs an attitude check. 5 min before close, I pay for an espresso. But because they’re *about* to close, they can’t give me the coffee in a ceramic cup. Guys, I know you want to go home but it’s still business hours and you’re serving a customer. Don’t be entitled. Anyway, after I begged, he said “fine I’ll get you your ceramic cup…”. Cool bro, thanks, have a great weekend!Anyway the coffee is too good so I’ll be back but probably not 5 minutes before close.

LOVE the staff. The coffee’s very good. Love the lending library, too. My only knock is maybe they are TOO GOOD. I’m talking specifically about this location btw. It’s hard to drink at other places now. It’s like how Prince’s ex said it was hard to date after Prince cause Prince was PRINCE. Anyways, I really like that Espresso Tonic.

Great coffee on the Upper West Side. Their drip coffee and their espresso are both well above average, and they make excellent lattes with a variety of different non-dairy milk options for those who prefer non-dairy.The Birch coffee on Columbus Avenue is a good place to grab a cup of coffee to go, or to sit and read or relax, as long as you can find a seat. It is often crowded and difficult to find good seating.It is not the best place to study, as finding a seat is unreliable and outlets and Wifi are sparse. If you do find a seat at one of the desks available, it is a nice place to get book studying done.

Stopped by this coffee spot and was pleasantly surprised. They serve a solid double cortado with a delightful crema. The dry roast stands out, offering a distinct taste without being overly pretentious. Its a notch above your mainstream options like Starbucks but without the meticulousness of high-end coffee houses. A refreshing middle ground for coffee enthusiasts.

The atmosphere? cozy. oat milk latte? delicious. staff? so nice. best place for coffee in the neighborhood. was my first time and am now a loyal customer. took it on a walk through central park and it was exactly what I needed!

Matcha latte was not good. Low quality matcha.Cheddar scone was okay. Much better options at other nearby cafe

Birch Coffee is so delicious, and the atmosphere inside of this coffee shop is so lovey!! :-) I visited for the first time this week while adventuring on the Upper West Side with my boyfriend. We ordered a drip coffee & a vanilla latte (hot) with oat milk to-go, each of which were so yummy. Also of note, the staff at Birch are so, so kind!! They made our visit all the more wonderful. We will absolutely be back!

Such a lovely place for coffee and chilling. Coffee is yummy 😋, servers are awesome and they even sent me a birthday card with a complimentary coffee attached! What could be better? You should go! 96th and Columbus. Best place ever!

Very nice atmosphere, especially on weekdays when its less crowded. No WiFi, but plenty of seating. The drinks in general are very good, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the espresso. Minimal crema, and the flavor wasnt very complex. Not served with seltzer water, as is common at higher end coffee shops. That being said, I think they have some of the best cappuccinos and flat whites in the city.

Their biscuits looked amazing and sucked me in, and I was anticipating something very tasty but because they serve them cold a cold biscuit is still cold biscuit.The barista described the coffee notes is being fruity, but there’s clearly no fruity notes in the Ethiopian.I love that the bathroom is unlocked and clean.The book nook is awesome.

I went to Birch with my girlfriend yesterday around noon, it was my first time there. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I ordered an iced cappuccino with almond milk which did not taste good and found hair inside my drink! I was furious and disgusted. I felt sick all day yesterday. I will never go back to Birch!

Staff was super nice! Chatted about travel and hometowns (we were both from Ohio) while they made our order. Also, lovely drinks!

My bf ordered lots of food with his computer to spend some time in a cafe yesterday. They only told him after he bought everything that he needed to leave because they close at 4pm

Its a cozy cafe with plenty of working table. The coffee is nice too. They have some seats with plugs but no wifi. And depends on time, sometimes it gets noisy.

Favorite neighborhood coffee spot, easily. Unmatched and quite frankly unrivaled quality of food and drink. Anybody who chooses Starbucks down the street over this gem of a shop is probably a tourist.

Had a drip coffee, which is consistently good. Staff is nice & friendly. However, I did not appreciate a treatment today while I was in the bathroom. A staff loudly knock on the bathroom door when he knew I was the last one. It’s always the small, last courtesy that makes the lasting impression.

My absolute favorite coffee shop ever! They have the best lattes in the city, and the place is spacious with lots of cozy spots to study. Definitely recommend stopping by!

Friendlies coffee shop in NYC and great coffee too. I’m pretty boring and get an almond milk latte most days… sometimes add a syrup. I believe their milks and syrups are made in-house and you can taste the difference. Great punch card program too with your 10th cup free. Order ahead is through the Odeko app.

Absolutely the best coffee place in NYC. The baristas are the nicest and coolest I’ve ever met (especially in this city. Always amazing music and they care about teachers! Aline is always smiling no matter what and the rest of the staff is just awesome.

The drink is good. They just insisted to make the drink the way they want, not the way customer prefer. I prefer Blank Street Coffee more.

If you want quality coffee then this is the place. If you dont mind paying a bit extra for that quality coffee then again, this is your place. I ordered a Cafe Latte with a different kind of milk and it was $5.25. Not the most expensive but not the regular price I pay for good coffee. Granted, it was good! But this place is missing on pastries. They only have a reduced selection of items and to be honest, they didnt look so good. Place is good, looked clean at the end of the day. Service on the counter was very good.

This coffee shop is so cute. It has a good amount of tables and a bathroom, which can be hard to come by in the city. The matcha latte I had was delicious and furthermore the staff was so incredibly helpful. I have Celiac, which means I cant eat gluten or anything cross contacted with gluten. I wanted to try their oat milk in my latte, so I asked if it was certified gluten-free. The barista went to check, but couldnt see it on the package. I wouldve been content to just go ahead and use the Oatly instead. However, she started googling it, and when the manager overheard the conversation he called the manufacturer to check for me. By the way, if you do have Celiac the Nu Oatmilk is safe. I was blown away by the kindness of the employees to go so far out of their way to check on that for me. Highly recommend stopping by this cafe.

Let me start off that the coffee is excellent. It’s the best coffee shop on the UWS and it’s not close. I’ve been a patron here for about 2 or 3 years. I visit daily. It adds delight to my day.Over the last few months, I’ve noticed that there is low grade misery on the faces of the staff here. So much so that there has been a turn over in employees. No one wants to stay here.My feedback for the leaders at Birch is your coffee is good but don’t forget your people are what make it an experience. And I’d posit that you’re not treating your staff in a way that fosters a positive work experience, so they end up quitting. I recognize that you want an exit that leads to a size-able financial return. But at what cost? To be another Starbucks?I encourage you to foster a better culture that’s employee focused. I’m not aware of the leadership at this location but I can tell you it’s not the right fit.Also, protect JJ, Joe and Milo at all costs. If they leave, I’m not sure I can stick around. Stop moving the tables around, it’s dumb.Good businesses make money. Excellent businesses make a difference.

A dependable small chain, this location is larger than others and features a lending library. 20% discount for teachers and students. Solid artisans espresso drinks, friendly staff.

Reasonably priced as far as NYC goes, and good coffee. Very good PSL and carrot cake muffin

This place is cool and their coffee is great, but everything is a bit overpriced. The staff are friendly and its a nice atmosphere. Also, its good to know that while youll see people on their laptops, there is no wifi. They have some prepackaged light fare and juices, and some pastries.

Lovely spot on the west side. This branch is pretty big, with cute individual seating with lights on the wall at the back for laptop users. When I visited on a Sunday afternoon it was packed, but customers are encouraged to share their tables and chat to strangers. The giant bowl of hot chocolate I had was super.

Decent coffee shop on the UWS. As always the coffee taste metallic, if not corrected with milk. Dont expect fast or enthusiastic service, but semi-hipster looking kids who prefer to talk among them than serving the public. Anyway, there is not much choice in the neighborhood and if you dont want to go to Starbucks or a tiny place, this is an ok place.

This might be my favorite coffee shop in NYC- and trust me, having explored everywhere from round k to devocion, I’ve landed squarely back at Birch. Such a fun and welcoming crew whips up top notch coffee that some how really is spot on each time. Try their Kyoto for a Summer time delight! They have a fun book area too.. and oat milk!

As for the quality, its decent. However, given the overall service and the unacceptably rude staffs, I really wish that this cafe deserves minus ratings. Not providing wifi is one thing, but more fundamental problems follow: when you take even a single second to choose your coffee, baristas will stare at you as if you had done something seriously wrong, and they will say something nasty right in front of your face. I have no idea how a coffee shop like this can be in the retail business. If you want to be insulted while ordering a cup of Joe, go for it, this will be your place. If the owner of this business is reading this, please start from the basic: your staffs today was absolutely horrible. This is not how many other neighborhood cafes sell coffee to their regular customers.

Love this birch coffee the most put of all the birch. Its alleged has lots of seating room and the coffee is always on point. Their hot chocolate is also delicious and their scones and cookies dont disappoint. They dont have wifi which is the norm for their shops and they have covered up their outlets so dont look for a quick charge here. Still worth the stop for an hour or two.

Excellent flat white, inviting atmosphere with plenty of seating, friendly staff, and book swap. I have been searching for a coffee place that is similar to the experience of KB Cafe in Paris, 9th arrondissement, and this is the best so far. While I don’t live nearby, it will be my weekend favorite.

Like every other Birch coffee shop this place is as good as the rest and I choose to come here cause its close to work. The staff is friendly and overall the coffee is consistent day in and day out whether its the hot stuff or the cold stuff. No complaints.

This Birch is close enough to central park to go pick up a really good coffee to sip while walking in the park. The guys behind the counter (Spring 2018) are really friendly, a bit goofy, but make excellent coffee. I always have a cookie with coffer and theirs were ok, not too chemical.

Ordered two large coffees, but got the standard size. Line out the door for what, exactly? Coffee was cold and wasnt even filled to the top of the cup. What a joke! I guess it was our fault for trying to support a small business during the pandemic. Never again.

The service is okay. It could be a bit quicker and friendlier. I do like the message near their menu meant to encourage visitors to stay and sit the tables even if there is one person sitting there, but this is New York. Personal space is a commodity.

Birch coffee and pastries are good and I live close to the original one. I cant believe though that they have started timing your wifi access up here. You get one hour for each item purchased. Not sure how anyone will get work done. Waste of time/money If you actually have work to do.

One goes here for the coffee, and its one of the best in town. Dont expect a Starbucks over-roast and trendy iced blended milk shakes. Go here for a great espresso or cappuccino that can stand on its own without flavorings or sweetener out lots of milk.

Even though this is a chain, it has a local feel to it. I went on a first date with a handsome, young med student, who is obsessed with coffee. They got his order right and mine as well. This location is obviously our favorite due to the memories.

Relaxed, comfortable, WiFi-free atmosphere. Has a good mix of individual and community tables. Three Birch blend coffee is smooth basic brew.

Sure sure - come here and get a cup of coffee. But do NOT skip the grilled cheese sandwich. What an amazing surprise. It is so good and the sprinkle just a little salt on top that makes the whole sandwich irresistible.

The best chai latte in NYC! My favorite thing about Birch chai is the foam: thick, white and spoonable. I never go there in a rush or grab a cup to take away, I always plan to have enough time to sit next to the window and enjoy the drink.

Love birch and their staff is always really great! Get a points card- it’s worth it! Cold brew in the jug is great too, when you bring it back you get $5 off

I had a triple shot espresso latte with oat milk and it was too sweet. I’d recommend half the oat milk. The GF/Vegan cinnamon coffee cake was delicious.

They have cold brew iced coffee on tap!! Were drinking a cappuccino and an iced cappuccino right now with a fromage blanc danish. This uptown outpost has generous sun-dappled seating and consistently excellent coffee.

It’s a place very nice. The coffe is delicius and also the blueberry muffin. I paid $ 11 for both.It’s important to know that the place has not wifi. You’ve to use a public network but it is not working very well.

I like to order my coffee/croissant online through the Odeko app. It’s a very convenient pick up service. But often they forget to put a plain croissant in the App. I came there today and said that I couldn’t order a plain croissant through the App since they didn’t put it there . I expected them to do it right away - they usually do it. But today i was told to go and wait in line in order to buy it. I was very surprised. Their service is normally good. I left the shop and went to a different coffee shop to get what I wanted.

Birch is one of the best coffe places of the Upper West Side. Unfortunately, they went from limiting the WiFi time to 1 hour to getting rid of the WiFi completely, which is a shame because its not an amazing working space as it could be anymore.

You know why I traveled 40+ minutes to get to this place? Because they have Hemp milk as an option. Not to mention, their food and service is awesome and the look and feel of their place is very welcoming.

Fairly unfriendly staff got my order wrong and gave me a dirty mug. Its an okay atmosphere, but not worth the buzz that Ive heard about the place. There are a definite lack of interesting coffee places in the upper west side.

Looks like a go-to student and young professional coffee shop. And its not Starbucks with pretentious names for things. And, IMO, the coffees better.

Great coffee! We ordered an iced decaf americano and an iced Carmel latte with oat milk. Both very delicious. Inside the place was quaint and would be good for chilling or studying. Drinks were made fast and prices were decent. We will definitely be coming back.

Comparing to their lower manhattan location I found this one to be kes cozy and the coffee was not as good as.

My go to spot for coffee when Im headed to work I normally get an oat latte the espresso is always incredibly smooth and never disappoints, consistent quality and service.

I love the coffee here. However whenever I order the oat milk cappuccino they don’t fill it to the top and I noticed they do that for other drinks. Perhaps it’s just that one barista that makes it

Hands down the best coffee you’ll find near Madison Square Park. It’s usually very busy, but the staff is friendly and efficient so the line moves quickly. This location also has a cozy reading nook with small wooden tables and chairs that make it easy to set up shop and enjoy a long coffee break.

Honestly I’ve been looking for good coffee in America for a month and I’ve finally found it. Coffee was perfect and you didn’t burn the coffee or milk like many other places. (Aussie in NYC 🇦🇺)

I ordered a hazelnut chocolate muffin and a jasmine green tea. Both were delicious. Im so glad I decided to sit and enjoy my mid-morning snack instead of taking it to-go because it was nice to watch people catch up with friends in this cozy atmosphere. Ill be sure to stop by if Im in the area again (:

Best Latte I have had so far!

This is a cozy, study-friendly coffee shop with great coffee. The tea is just as delicious. I had the Toasted Almond tea this time. The atmosphere is calm, and you dont feel rushed if you hang out for a bit. The bathroom is clean, and the baristas are kind. Bonus: there are ample places to plug in if you need to.

I have enjoyed birch coffee for years until I decided to subscribe. I have received old coffee with each delivery. I have repeatedly attempted to contact the company via email and on the phone with no luck. Please cancel my subscription 11955 immediately

So happy that Birch finally happened !!! Their coffee does not fail the high expectations. Have only tried their iced coffee so far - so fragrant ! The ambience is very cozy. Seating is spacious in NY standard, making this cafe a great place to work/read/chat. This place has been filled ever since they opened, which speaks to how much people love this place. Will return soon!

This is a quaint coffee shop that I frequent. Lots of people like to come here and chill out with thier laptops. The staff has been pretty nice. The only downside happens in cold weather temperatures as its hard to stay warm in there. However, if youre just making a pit stop to grab food or beverage than youre good to go.

Loved the iced coffee at this location. I have my reservations about the staff asking me if I want room for milk so that they can put it in.The coffee was brewed very well and they used amazing beans. It did not need sugar after all.The space is big and airy; although I did not eat anything, I can see they make amazing quick bites. Most people were eating something that either looked amazing or smelled very fresh.

Birch is quality coffee, simple as that. And their iced mocha is divine. I always make it a point to come here when I’m in the city.

Quiet, lots of space to sit and have a proper adult conversation. Clean bathroom. Lots of alt milk and GF food options. Coffee is decent. Cappuccino could have been frothier. People were helpful and friendly and patient, in NYC that means something.

Nice little cozy place with a funny game who should help people get together. My favorite is the chocolate doughnut 🍩 and usually go for latte ... service is fast and friendly! My advice go ahead and enjoy a nice coffee ☕️
