What a lovely little cocktail bar in Upper Westside! The moment you walk in you begin to feel happy vibes. From the person greeting you at the front desk to the server - everyone meets and greets you with such wonderful energy! ❤️ To add to that, the cocktails are just fantastic. We tried a few and loved all of them. Our server JOHN was so wonderful too. He made sure we got exactly what we wanted. Thank you! It’s important that everything about a place is lovely… Owl’s tail gets all of it right! Will definitely be back!

Wandered here accidentally and had the most delicious wine and cheese board. Exceptional service, John was amazing. Will be coming back!

Such a great place to end the night and they have some FANTASTIC mocktails, which I really appreciated. I also had their nutella cookie sandwich — delicious! 🤤Its a quaint little spot off of Broadway so not a lot of noise, and the atmosphere of the place is very chill and laid back.Great for date nights and friend-dates.The 4 ⭐️ in service is because of the host, everyone else was great. That man could not be bothered and seemed so over it. Its so common to come across that kind of attitude in NY, and its incredibly off putting so it needs to be acknowledged.Other than that, definitely recommend this place!

Super cute vibe, bumping at 5pm on a Friday. Got seated in outdoor heated area which was great.Started with single espresso as they don’t have oat milk for a capp or latte, which is a bummer. Espresso, however, was fantastic. Some of the best I’ve had tbh.Ordered the rum hot toddy which was fine. The caprese-prosciutto toasts were really tasty! I felt like it was a good amount for the price. All in all, cute vibe, I look forward to going back to try more cocktails.

I love the atmosphere here, the attention to detail in the decor, the drinks and the food! The menu is limited, which I thought would be a problem, but the dishes that they do have were fantastic! The deviled Eggs, both originaland the truffle&mushroom were especially good. My favorite, by far though, was tge Chicken Thigh sliders. They have coleslaw on them and the blend of flavors was spot-on. I had to order a second platter, they were that good 👍 The seasonal cocktails are a great touch as well.

Drinks were excellent, and we highly enjoyed the meatballs! The shrimp dumplings were a bit underwhelming, especially for the price.

Dare I post about this truly HIDDEN GEM…?!? From the moment we walked in, we were genuinely greeted and attended to by Lauren (killer smile) … the place is warm, perfectly set up and service is top notch. Cocktails are strong and delicious, bites are made to order and worth the price. Great for girls night, Sunday funday and date night! Highly recommend!!

Really innovative (and delicious) cocktails! Things I wouldn’t try normally but really glad that I did. Smoke & Mirrors was my favorite drink that I had. John was an amazing server and incredibly friendly!

They have a good variety of cocktails with seasonal themes. It is pricey, but around the same price as other bars in NYC in general. Appetizers were really tasty, I would highly recommend the meatballs.

They care abt taking care of you here! I didn’t like one of my drinks and they replaced it quickly and didn’t make me feel an ounce of guilt. Love this place!

Top of the line cocktails, best on the UWS in my opinion. The mai Thai is to die for. Come for the drinks, but the small bites of food are very solid and serve their purpose as something to nibble on while you drink. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I go out of my way to support local businesses. So I really wanted to like Owls Tail. But the food was abysmal. The pea crostini looked like baby poo and didnt taste much better. The devilled eggs were awful, which is puzzling because its such a simple dish to prepare. The only thing that was edible were the olives. Cocktails and ambiance were OK - nothing special. The saving grace was the service, which was good. I will NOT be back.

I have been here twice with my family while they were visiting, a year apart. We ordered the meatballs, the olives, tuna tartar and the pesto crostini. The food is delicious. So so good. The drinks are also amazing. “She’s a Scorpio” was such a good margarita style cocktail and they didn’t mind subbing the mezcal for a different tequila. Both times we’ve gone, we have had the pleasure of being serviced by John (by accident!). He has amazing energy and made terrific recommendations. John is amazing. Please support your local business and try this spot. And The Owl’s Tail, give John a RAISE!

Great spot, especially if you’re attending the beacon theatre which is practically next door. Try the aged Manhattan, you won’t go wrong.

Incredible cocktails with a fun funky atmosphere! They really do a great job of thinking through each of the ingredients and every cocktail to make sure it is a well balanced drink.

Pregnant so I can’t say much about the drinks but the bites AMAZING. We had the burrata salad and cornmeal biscuits and everyone in our party was satisfied. We will definitely be back!

By far the best cocktail bar in the area. John was a great server. Very knowledgeable and hospitable. Highlights were the the cigars on ice and the barrel aged manhattan.

I came here for a quick drink and tried their espresso Guinness martini. It was okay, with less of a strong flavor as I expected. I asked for the check and it took a bit of time for someone to come over to scan my card. In my opinion there are other neighborhood bars which provide a better experience.

John is amazing and deserves a raise. A strange drunk man approached us and John was on standby just in case we needed him. He was also very attentive and made sure our empty glasses got taken away and replaced with new drinks pronto. Great drinks, great server and amazing service!

It’s unfortunate S & L have moved out West. I’ve given this place a few chances in the last year and constantly experienced bad service and entitled hostesses and servers.Fortunately this place is next to “The Beacon Theatre” so a new revolving door happens for guest tourists/visitors. I used to recommend this place. I would say now there are much better places in the neighborhood if you are visiting the area.Please come back or address your staff :/ Sincerely a local in the neighborhood. My wife spotted this place near her job and wanted to grab a drink here, after a few drinks,lol this place is very nice we didnt have a reservation and we were able to get a table in 5 minutes. Drinks are delicious staff are friendly, polite and professional. John was our server and phenomenal. Thank you for the wonderful experience. well be back soon. The drinks we had were Scorpio, Tea-Ki-Hut, Royal Negroni, and so fresh so clean.

Pretty mediocre and overrated, generally speaking. The drinks are the stars of the show. We ordered 4 food items, half of them were astoundingly unimpressive and genuinely cheap seeming.The Meatballs and Cornmeal Biscuits were pretty fantastic. But the Cornmeal Biscuits were laughably small. Like, if youre worried about getting BIG biscuits... dont be. They were about the diameter of a gold dollar. Very small.The Shiitake and Brie Focaccia and Shrimp Dumplings were both genuine letdowns. They were truly cheap in both presentation and experience.When I say cheap I mean they were on par with pre-packaged grocery store food.The service was ok at best. Everyone is friendly. But the quality of the service hovers within the realm of bare minimum.Its a cute date spot thanks to the vibe.But the food is mediocre and insultingly priced for what it is. Everything is, frankly. Even the drinks which are delicious.The pricing philosophy seems to be: Upper West Siders are rich, so theyll pay whatever we tell them to.Nothing here is actually worth the price.

Everything about The Owls Tail is fantastic. Service, food, drinks, vibe and prices are fair! Its a festive, bubbling place - just a wonderful vibe. This is a seriously great business whos priority is for customers to have a good time. I wish it was in my neighborhood!

I went here a year and a half ago and Im STILL thinking about their cornbread. It was an out of body experience. Their cocktails were generous and delicious. The food was incredible. But....the cornbread was actually a religious experience.

So far one of my favorite bars. We came for drinks and got some food/snacks with our drinks.Food was awesome, not quite a meal.We had a dog with us so they seated us outside and everyone was very kind and thoughtful towards the dog as well.

The staff was phenomenal! Very helpful drink recommendations and they worked around us standing in the middle of their space.This bar is charming and full of vigor; the happy hour specials are both very reasonable and actually during hours in which people want to drink!If you are in the area, consider stopping by! I can easily see crowding becoming an issue if standards are kept this high!

Very bad attitude from our server, who messed up then snubbed us. We ordered two martinis & 2 apps. I have never seen deviled eggs on a restaurant menu before, so we decided to try those. The martinis were excellent. Then came the brie app alone. After 15 minutes I politely inquired about the eggs, assuming they were forgotten which is no big deal. Our server got defensive and said we ordered the shrimp app, or dumplings (?), a response that was both argumentative and confusing. We clarified that we were only waiting on eggs. Later, out came dumplings, presented by someone else and we had to re-explain that we never ordered dumplings. That person took the wrong app back and our server then flat 100% stopped coming to our table (although he attended tables near us). I had to wave down a different server to ask about a glass of wine that I ordered long before. Then again, I had to flag down staff to ask for our check bc we were completely ignored. The check included the dumpling app we never ordered and never hit the table. Just sort of ridiculous. I gave the food a 3 bc the brie app had an indiscernible amount of brie and crunchy peaches.

We’re from England and we got a friendly welcome when we arrived. We loved trying the festive cocktails on offer, they were interesting and well made! Good choice of drinks, lovely staff and quick service. Really recommend.

The Owls Tail is a great casual spot to grab a drink and some delicious food. I visited on a Sunday night and was seated immediately, even without a reservation. The cheese and meat board were a standout for me, and the drinks were excellent as well. The waiter was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is low-key and colorful, adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend The Owls Tail for a relaxed night out.

Walked in on a chilly Spring Saturday, indoor seating was full so we opted for a heater-less outdoor table. Ordered a couple bourbon Hot Toddy’s to warm up and they were perfectly boozy and balanced. Tried their Butternut Squash Crostini which came on very fresh, lightly toasted French bread. The combo between the creamy ricotta, earthy squash and bright pomegranate seeds was pure perfection. Next we tried their Cornmeal Biscuits which are cooked to order and *well* worth the wait. They came out hot & steamy with a side of jalapeño honey butter. A fresh, warm biscuit on a cold day is absolute heaven. I highly recommend it. To be nit picky, I wish the butter would’ve been softer with a little more jalapeño heat but again that’s being nit picky. Service was attentive and friendly from start to finish. I already can’t wait to go back and try more things. Until then I will dream of those warm cornmeal biscuits for weeks to come.

This place is great. I stopped in with a friend before a show across the street at the Beacon. The service was very friendly, and prompt (even when the bar started to get busy). We shared a couple of bites to eat - the meatball crostini was especially good. And, most notably, they have a great craft cocktail list. I loved everything I tried. Ill definitely be back!

Visited the Owl Tavern recently, and I must say, their Whistle Pig Manhattan is nothing short of amazing—a true highlight for any cocktail aficionado. The deviled eggs were another standout, delightfully delicious and a must-try. However, the rest of the menu didn’t quite hit the mark for me, with dishes that felt a bit underwhelming, avoid the shrimp dumplings,and overpriced. But it’s not all about the food; the service was fabulous, with a waitstaff that’s attentive, efficient, and genuinely makes your experience better. If you’re in for a great drink and some light bites, this place won’t disappoint, but for a full meal, you might want to manage your expectations.

Well needed cocktail bar in the UWS. Great attention from the bar tender, nice but not (yet) pretentious place to grab a well crafted, creative drink. Very cool space, not very large but has tables to accommodate later parties that cant fit at the bar. In nice weather the front opens up for an open air feel

I Must say I was very disappointed with my experience here. My cousins and I arrived at the bar looking forward to a nice night and we were treated very poorly. The blonde bartender was rude and nasty. We were all sober and very polite but were told we could not be served. We were not inebriated nor were we belligerent but were treated as though we were. A truly horrible experience at a neighborhood bar that he hoped to frequent on a regular basis. We deserved to be treated much nicer and we deserve an apology for the less than kind service.

Best little Cocktail place in this area. Amazing staff, vibe was what I was looking for, not trying too hard. The Australian hostest was joy by definition in the dictionary.

Great venue for b4 a show at the Beacon Theater

It was a very cold Saturday night and we were looking for a place to grab drinks before a late dinner reservation. The hostess was very nice and was able to squeeze our group of five in, without a reservation. Were so glad that worked out because everything we drank was phenomenal.Owls Gone Fishing, Shes a scorpio, Dracarys, Sweater Weather, A Warm Hug, The Freshmaker and then some delicious dealers choice shots that went down very easily.Cool vibes, great drinks, make sure you stop by if youre near!

An absolute gem on the UWS! My husband and I have been obsessed for years and bring all of our friends here when theyre in town. The cocktails and small bites are amazing and the staff is equally as impressive. The Owls Tail feels like a downtown spot without the pretension. As an Owls Tail devotee, this past December I hosted a corporate cocktail hour at Owls Tail and it was perfect. The cocktails were flowing, my attendees are still talking about how awesome it was, and Steph is a true professional and a dream to plan a party with. Whether youre craving a cocktail with friends or planning an intimate event that everyone will rave about, The Owls Tail is the best option on the UWS.

Literally cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! Drinks were amazing! But the service was unmatched! Everyone who worked here was kind, attentive and genuine. Excited to go back, love this place!

Ive been eyeing this place for a quick bite and drink for months now. I decided to go today, they opened at 3pm. I arrived at like 3:15, I was asked if I had a reservation, No then if I wanted to sit at the bar, No then if I wanted to sit at the shared table top with stools, NO. The place was almost empty it made me feel like the hostess felt it would be a waste for me to sit at a table by myself. I stayed about 40 minutes and spent over $50 dollars. The server whos name I didnt catch was very nice and timely. The oysters tasted great and my drink was exactly what I needed!!! Not sure if Ill go back though.

Cozy and chic cocktail bar. Delicious drinks and small plates! We couldnt decide and ordered about 6 plates plus 2 desserts - the apple crumble (crisp?) and pistachio sorbet were both delicious.

Creative cocktails in an intimate environment. I really enjoyed the unique and custom-crafted cocktails. A great addition to the UWS. Very close to the Beacon so convenient for a drink before or after shows.

The Owls Tail is a popular cocktail bar and restaurant that is nearby the Beacon Theatre. It has a fantastic and diverse menu of cocktails that are nice to try and experiment with. The appetizers are upscale a bit (think cheese and meat plates, seafood fare, etc.), and the prices are definitely high, but its a nice spot with good ambiance and good service.

What a sweet find this was! We had the chance to head out after work and meet up briefly with my niece on the last night of her college theater trip to NYC and what a perfect experience we had! Small (but substantial) plates to refresh at the end of the day, a lovely wine list, a bar staff that takes great pride in their craft cocktails and — here’s the best part — gourmet level zero-proof mocktails as well! My niece and I got to toast a delicious beverage (try the Sweater Vest, you’ll be happy you did!) as she told us about her trip. It was a sweet way to see her round-out her week and we’re just thankful to have found this place. Everyone who works here was just fantastic, true team spirit and love seems to be what makes this place run. Thank you Owl’s Tail for a wonderful evening!

The wait staff was truly lovely but when my neighbor knocked my glass of red wine all over my pants, they let him escape. Yes, i was given salt in an effort to save my pants. No, I was not offered a discount but was asked if I wanted a “shot.” I kindly asked for a taste of an aged tequila to ease my pain but instead was given a concoction of an herbal Upper West Side tincture that made me not want to return to these neck of the woods.Did I have a great time? Yes, I most often do have a blast. With so many choices to enjoy oneself in this fantastic city, I won’t be returning to a place that happily accepts my 25% tip without offering to take care of my dry cleaning bill.The bottle of Gigondas was not the one on the menu, but what I had of it did not disappoint. The cheese plate was good as well.If my neighbor wouldn’t have been as clumsy, I would have walked out content.My point is: if something out of the ordinary happens and another customer ruins one’s outfit, be generous and take tender loving care of your client.I bring a lot of good cheer and I very much appreciate kindness (which I experienced) and generosity (which was non-existent).

Best cocktail experience of my life!A great place to feel like a local and have a delicious cocktail. Cozy, intimate vibe with immaculate service from the whole team. Was celebrating my honeymoon and decided to come back for a 2nd time in a week. Not only did our server, Brad, recognize us but he served us a celebratory glass of champagne each. Would travel to NYC just for this level of service and cocktail mastery. Do try the fall sour before its off menu 🥰

We went in for a quick drink before a concert at the Beacon Theater. Our hostess Sherz was excellent. She was friendly, attentive and the bartender (I didn’t get his name) made excellent margaritas and expresso martinis. The vibe was cool and friendly, we will be back.

We were looking for a neighborhood gem to meet a friend for a drink and catch up for a couple of hours and came across the owl tail to such a delight. It was perfect! The drinks were well crafted. The food was delicious. Yet, it was the service that put this place above the rest. Our server was super friendly and attentive without being over bearing. She was friendly and kind. Perfect for pur night out with friends. Therefore we are looking forward to our return the next time we are in town!

Very attentive staff. Warm atmosphere. Excellent cocktails. Recommend if youre in the area. Laid back enough that I was in a tee shirt Friday night and felt comfortable but still a nicer place.

I have been coming to this place for two years and found decent experience. I live a block away. Recently I made a reservation for my girl-friend to have a drink in the evening. We had to cancel in the afternoon a few hours before our arrival. They still charged me a cancellation fee of $50. I contacted the Owls Tail 10 times to have the fee reverted and nobody responded. I find the lack of response primary unacceptable and that a bar is charging me a cancellation fee although I gave them fair notice. I cannot recommend this place and I will never go there again and I dont recommend my family and friends to ever visit this place.

Amazing drinks and great people!!!

Wow! What a nice surprise on a traditionally uneventful street. The food 🥘and drinks 🍹were great! The warm bread 🥖with the meat and cheese plate 🧀was a nice touch and the grilled octopus 🐙 was delicious. The oysters were fresh and delicious and aside from feeling rushed by the waitress this new-but tasty spot was a hit!

A great local business where you can tell the owners really care. They’re often working and speaking with diners making it a nice experience. Fantastic cocktails and nibbles. Often has decent specials.

Stephanie and her team are so nice and make each visit fun. Great cocktails, solid wine list, and excellent food options from the spiced nuts to the cheese board to the meatballs and tuna tartare! This is a must-go!

Owl’s Tail is my favorite uws bar. It’s a great vibe inside and out (their outdoor covid set up is safe). I’ve never had a bad drink and the staff is always super friendly and professional. Get the biscuits or butternut soup with your drink. You won’t regret it!

Delicious drinks with small, but tasty snacks. Love the mural and theme. Nothing like it in the surrounding area and it shows as its always busy.

Weve been told that no rez taken prior, but obviously they hold table for friends. If you dont take rez, then dont, thats ok. But if you hold tables for friends, then thats a problem.

Owners are terrific they make you feel so welcome and they place is cozy and adorable.

I stopped for an hour or so for a couple of drinks alone, after a long walk in Central Park. I took a seat in the heated outdoor area, where it was very comfortable despite the freezing temperatures outside. I had a New York Sour (the best Ive ever had) and a drink from their signature list, again bourbon-based. Both excellent, as is the welcome and a series of service features (example: welcome glass of water, constantly refilled) that make you feel pampered. If I were to return I will also try the kitchen because my neighbors at the table were served very appetizing dishes.
