Had drinks at the Gold Bar last night while staying at the Lotte Palace Hotel. The bartenders were lovely and engaging. The space itself is stunning and just what you would expect with a name like “The Gold Bar.” I tried the Filthy Rich Martini ($50) as I had a credit at the hotel to use and can honestly tell you I did not perceive any difference between it and a regular martini with decent vodka. I then had an old fashioned which was really well made. The nuts were a highlight (a blend of salty, sweet and spicy), and the Roquefort stuffed olives were worth the extra. Overall a good experience, but I probably wouldn’t go back without a credit to use as it is quite pricey for drinks that aren’t that much better than any other.

The Gold Room at Lotte New York Palace possesses a picturesque dining experience, but suffers from a lack of standout cuisine and constant crowds. While the staff is courteous and the ambiance is appealing, the overall dining experience feels more like a social media spot than a culinary destination. 3/5.Full Review:My visit to the Gold Room at Lotte New York Palace left me with mixed feelings. While the restaurant offers a picturesque dining space and courteous staff, it fell short in several key areas. One of the main issues we encountered was a shortage of ingredients, leading to multiple items being unavailable on the menu (though, given the difficulty of running restaurants, especially with more and more supply shortages and the like, I am looking to overlook such an error, as I doubt it is the fault of the staff). This was disappointing, as it limited our choices and detracted from the overall dining experience. Despite this setback, the Gold Room was filled to capacity before, during, and after our visit, indicating its popularity and in-demand status. The dining area itself is beautifully designed, with a luxurious ambiance that adds to the overall appeal of the restaurant. However, the lack of adequate space and the overcrowding detracted from the dining experience. In general, it felt more like a social media spot than a culinary destination. The cuisine at the Gold Room was decent, but not exceptional. While the dishes were well-prepared and decently presented, there was nothing truly exemplary about them. For places like this, the vibe, the architecture, or the well-plated food is more superficial than anything. Like using gold as a culinary embellishment, where an artist simply adds glitter to a painting. While it may enhance the visual appeal and convey a sense of luxury or opulence, it doesnt necessarily elevate the overall quality or flavor of the dish. The addition of gold (or any other glitzy backdrop, expensive item that is pricey just for the sake of it, etc.) may create a perception of high-art or exclusivity, but for those who prioritize substance over style, it may seem like a superficial addition. The Gold Room at Lotte New York Palace offers a visually appealing dining experience with courteous staff and decent cuisine. While it may appeal to those looking for a trendy spot to dine and snap photos for social media, it falls short of being a truly exceptional dining destination.---You can find me on Insta: @imdanielyoon

Absolutely horrid service. Waiter threw a bowl of nuts down on our table with no interaction for nearly an hour. This establishment is racist and full of bigots. The only minority table to not have been served and met with an attitude when we told the waiter were were displeased with our lack of service. Waiter then proceeded to argue with a table full of women who had only stated that the service was unacceptable. Very emotionally unstable and shocking to all who were present. However, the other reviews are correct, overpriced drinks with no appeal. Dont waste your time or money being a patron here. They will treat you like you are an inconvenience to them. They have 80 year old men serving and clearly cannot keep up with demand.

Listen. I was at a 2-star michelin restaurant [aquavit] before coming to this restaurant. A main course meal is charged $36-62 in that restaurant. How much did I pay for a cocktail here? $36!! Including tax and mandated gratuity. Man, never ever again. Nyc is full of bars. This one has nothing specific.

This is an swanky place in a 5 star hotel. Walk in only, we came at 6pm on Monday and got seated within 5 minutes, overall cant say it was super busy but most of tables and couches were occupied.A great drinks and cocktail menu. My Gossip Girl was top notch. They have a non-alcoholic version too. The ambiance is luxurious and would perfectly work for a nice date or a dressy girls catchup after work. I wish they had some live jazz music though. Also I wish their tea would come in nicer cups for the price. The service is polite and attentive.

If youre hoping to check out this hotel bar thinking it will be beautifully grand like some of their photos suggest, dont be fooled. This space is small, tight, and seats patrons so close to one another that you can hear everyone elses conversations. Its just your regular hotel bar — and not a nice one at that. Also the drinks are very pricey, my Old Fashioned was $28

Unfortunately the beautiful interior doesn’t match the service. Ordered a round of drinks and waters for the table. Waited over 40 minutes, still no water or drinks. Tables that were seated after us were already ordering their second rounds while we had not even gotten water. Was met with a poor attitude when we asked for the check. Very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience.

Will never go there again. Talking about rushing a customer to down there wine like it’s a shot of whiskey. The small portion per serving was another issue , ridiculous. Then after they rushed us out they charge 15%extra for a tip . I’m a 20 % tipping kind of guy or more if the service is excellent but in reality 15% for the interruptions and pressure to consume your beverage and the get out attitude was way more then they deserve. It’s a shame because the ambiance was very nice . The two star is because the place is very nice its just lacking in service.

I came here to grab drinks around 8:30pm in a Tuesday and there was standing room at the bar only. We waited for about 15mins for a spot to open up. Overall, I liked the spot and the vibe. They had two non-alcoholic cocktails. I had the blueberry one and it wasn’t too sweet, which I appreciated. The spot is great for dates or just catching up with a friend at the bar. They also had high top tables that could accommodate 4-6 people.

The first time I went there the food and the service was excellent!! I couldn’t wait to go back. Three weeks later I decided to take some friends there after bragging about the food and service. I was so disappointed!! The food was horrible!! The food was cold, the sliders, the fries, the cauliflower, even the nuts were stale. The margaritas were poorly prepared. I was so disappointed. I don’t think I’d ever go there again or even recommend it to anyone else. The kicker was that, we went at 530, expecting that everything would’ve been fresh and hot because they open at 5. What a disappointment.

What a joke. Avoid this place unless it’s to sit and be ignored. Waited another 15 mins after being seated before being brought a tiny bowl of nuts and a glass of water. Tried to order food and a drink as the waiter walked away. Sat for another ten minutes. While I waited I ordered Uber Eats to my room for 1/10 of the price. No one noticed or cared I left and I will not be back.(3 stars for atmosphere. It’s a quiet place to sit and not be bothered by waiters offering food and drinks.)

The Gold Room inside the Palace Hotel brings you back to the Gilded Age with its freshly restored, intricate and very golden ambiance. It’s famous for its $250 martini, but there’s a whole martini menu ranging down to around 20 dollars, as well as other signature cocktails inspired by another time. We got a dirty Beefeater martini with the Roquefort stuffed olives (a must!) and the Mrs. Astor, a variation of a Cosmopolitan. Both drinks were strong and flavorful. Seating was very comfortable, service was nice and overall we had a great time - way better than expected for a bar in Midtown.

Great atmosphere - all gold as the name suggests. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side $26 each), but well made. Service was immaculate - servers were dressed in vests and ties, which gives you an idea on the clientele you’d expect in midtown. Ambience resembles something out of the Italian Renaissance, with the entrance akin to the Palace of Versailles.

Absolutely terrible. I understand that things can be a bit busy during the holiday season, but the service at The Gold Room is appallingly bad. Waitstaff seem to be doing the best they can, but this seems impossible with poor management that appears to be constantly breathing down their necks. After my friends and I sat at a table for thirty minutes with no service, management compensated us by...asking us to wait another twenty minutes before our drink order that was already taken, would be filled by the bar. In voicing our concerns to management, their response was to simply smile and say I agree, without any further acknowledgement of the problem. Save your money and your sanity, skip The Gold Room.

I have never written a poor review of anything. That I felt compelled to do so in light of my visit here should tell you something about this place. My experience in this cocktail lounge was a disaster almost from top to bottom (besides a kind and responsive hostess and a serviceable bartender who served us).The prices here are upper end Manhattan cocktail lounge prices ($24-26 cocktails, $30-40 appetizers, a mandatory 15% service charge on everything (even 1 cocktail)), so with that in mind you would expect top end service. What we received is the worst service I’ve had in New York. After getting our first round of cocktails (no complaints about the cocktails here, they are decent, though overpriced) and putting in a 3-appetizer order we were moved from the bar to a table. There we sat waiting at the table for 45 minutes before realizing none of our food had yet come out (we ordered jamon, chickpea arancinis and FRIES). No one came by to check if we wanted fresh cocktails, a water refill, or to clear our empty cocktails. After asking about our food we waited for another 30 minutes or so for our first plate to come out (just one), the fries. Which were completely cold.I almost never send the food back but not one apology had at this point been uttered for the atrocious service received so far. And these fries were colder than room temperature. So we sent them back. The manager apparently handled getting us warm fries, though he barely spoke to us and treated us like roaches for having the temerity to complain about 65 degree fries. We waited another 10 minutes for mediocrely warmed fries to come out (mind you these are $20 fries), and then another 10 or 15 to get mediocrely warmed chickpea arancini and the jamon slices (basically raw ham slices with toast that some how to 1.35 hours to plate). In total we waited about an hour and 35 minutes to get all of our food (3 appetizers). At the end we were asked if we wanted a water refill and more cocktails, which we ordered.Paying the 3.60 mandatory tip on each of those cocktails was the ultimate insult to be added to our injury for the night.Avoid this place like the plague, the beautiful environs are utterly sullied by the disaster that is the operation of The Gold Room.

The host here acted like a complete jerk even to hotel guests and made sure to tell us not only did we need to wait an hour for a bar seat (at our hotel bar??) that we might try the bar across the way “but they won’t serve us beer there” (what???) terrible service, unhelpful, and not pleasant as the first night of a hotel stay. Still gets two srars bc its been nice in the past but really….
