The fat Buddha cocktail was the best cocktail I’ve ever had. The food was so yummy and our waitress was lovely. It’s a little hard to find because it’s behind a cafe.

Accommodated my large group last minute, staff was super friendly, took our orders quickly, and the drinks were great. Let us take up the couch and standing room in the back. Was perfect spot for barhopping on my birthday, and was fun to be able to take my out of town friends to a speakeasy. They gave me an extra drink since it was my birthday too! Thank you so much for having us! Will be back and will be recommending!

Great bar with solid food. The wings here are really delicious. Staff isn’t the friendliest but the music makes up for it. Decent happy hour specials and conveniently located on 14th Street and Avenue A. It usually gets busy later in the evening. Try the Buddha Beer. The Passionrita is also real nice.

Great idea, nice space but food is lacking. Brunch is decently portioned (under previous management) but last time I came here for dinner, the bland food and small portions left a sour taste in my mouth. The first time I was here, a friends friend was DJing. So many people cramped into this cozy bar and music bouncing off the walls made for a fun time.Perhaps Ill skip the food next time and just head here for the music/night scene.

It is a great experience. Dont let the outside deter you. Its a great atmosphere and really great food. The seats are set arlund the bar. It has an assortment of Korean cuisine. The dragon wings are especially delightful. Any entre is a great choice. They also have great drinks and cocktails. The only thing is that there a wait between ordering your food and getting the plate, but overall a great choice to go and enjoy yourself.

3 tables and huge bar in the center of the room. They have to have more chairs, coz people are coming a lot of space everywhere but no chairs.Food was delicious loved the soy chicken bites! I didnt check if they have delivery, Id go there one more time just for them))Drinks are average.DJ was nice! People were packed on that quite small dance floor.Overall good for ppl from 21 till 28 I think ))4 stars coz dude that works there literally took my chair when I was eating and drinking on bar with my friends, saying to many ppl we have to make more space. And he did this only with one side of bar. Consider this very rude and unprofessional. #localspot

I was at a loss for what to drink, and the bartender was nice enough to make a suggestion and offer me a sample. Dont get the buddha beer unless you like beer-flavored water. Theres plenty of bar space with the serving area in the middle and seating along all 4 sides. Tables are available in the back too if you want to get a large group together for some early drinking before the DJ turns up the volume and the tables & chairs are removed for late night dancing. Free coat and bag check is available, and the bouncers make sure you make use of it.

It was a great space with an awesome atmosphere that was both cozy and intimate. The hidden door direct really helped make it a vibe and an experience as a first timer plus the staff was very respectful and attentive which was awesome. I would definitely recommend as a good pregame spot, small friends night out, or even a date night for those looking for a cozy spot to get a drink and dance a bit

Couldnt imagine ordering them outside of happy hour. No way. One was made horribly and super weak and one was made really well. Two were okay.It being happy hour made this whole thing passable. Service was cool and the food was tasty.I would return tho.

LIT turnout after 11pm. There is a long bar in the front and a dance floor in the back. The drinks are not cheap but wont knock you over the head in prices. The music is always modern hip-hop with a little throwbacks mixed in. You will be waiting in a line if u come after midnight.

This is based on a Saturday night, girls night out (we are 30+). $5 cover charge was reasonable, coat check available. Bar does take up most of the space, but we were just there to dance so we headed to the back where the DJ is. Music was pretty good. We expected more 90s hip hop, but thats how the DJ started and then it was more current pop/hip hop. Mostly all was dance-able. Here are some song examples: Poison (Bell Biv DeVoe), Cheap Thrills (Sia), Party Up (DMX), Move B*tch, (Ludacris), Phenomena (LL Cool J), Wild Thoughts (Rihanna), Like Glue and Get Busy (Sean Paul), Stronger (Kanye), 24 Karat Magic (Bruno), Back that Ass up (Juvenile), some Drake songs. He started some reggae songs like Murder She Wrote, but didnt always finish those. A good time, but nothing by Snoop, Dre, Nate Dogg, Diddy, Notorious Big, Jay Z, or J Lo. For us, the search continues for a true 90s hip/hop bar.

I have been going to Fat Buddha consistently over the last year and a half and would recommend to anyone looking for a casual bar hangout with great Korean/asian food. When you walk in the bar is gigantic and occupies the vast majority of the space with some seating scattered all around. On Fridays and the weekend their is usually a DJ playing music. If you want to go to a place and hangout this is a great spot, but if you are on a first date this will probably be a little to loud.Lets talk about the food, I really enjoy going to fat Buddha because the food and the good pricing during happy hour. I usually eat the dolsot bimbimbap and shrimp mandoos. Both are always amazing and they always leave me wanting more. I have tried the Buddha bun and dragon fries which are also very good. Ive been wanting to try the wings and calamari but have not gotten around to it yet because I love the other options so much.In terms of drinks, they have decent drink specials and the bar tenders make strong drinks. I tend to get pretty good service whenever I go to fat Buddha with the caveat I tend to go early and arent here when going out crowd has arrived.Overall, this is just a nice hangout spot with surprisingly good food.#happyhour #localspot #livemusic

One of the worst bar experience. Dont ever make an eye contact with the Bartender. I was with there with couple of friends enjoying the moment and out of no where bartender comes up to me and he wants to fight me because i made a eye contact with him. And after a while i spoke to the bouncer and later manager came and spoke with me. He was nice enough to refund us the admission fee. I went there a week later and the staffs there didnt let me get in. And when i asked for manager they didnt even bother contacting them. Next time u go, just be careful.

Fat Buddha is a cool hip hop bar and lounge with surprisingly good Chinese and Korean food. Now its not the type of well balanced Chinese food menu that you would expect from a full restaurant, but they have great bar snacks and some bigger dishes (Miso Salmon, Bibimbap bowls, etc.). Their pork buns are great. They are made with pulled pork rather than pork belly, which makes for a meatier but slightly less juicy experience. Its very good. Their chicken wings are crispy and perfect as are their short ribs. Phenomenal. Great place for a night out with friends in a lively (read slightly loud) environment or to watch a sports game with great hip hop..

The mood inside was very cool and laid back. DJ inside playing (spinning?) all kinds of music, hip-hop, house, mashups (mashitup!). The food is a Korean-mix style with chicken wings, different types of fries, buns, desserts and of course there is a bar.My friends and I dont drink much and came for the music and some food. We shared an order of sweet potato fries and got a side of spicy mayo for dipping. We enjoyed ourselves. We also got an order of buns which gets you three pieces of either pork, beef, or soy chicken (not actual chicken, soy based faux chicken). I dont eat for legged animals so we shared the soy chicken buns. They were very tasty and though they didnt need it I added some of the delicious and liquidy spicy mayo. They do card you when you go so, Im guessing you gotta be 21+ to get in, maybe you can still partake in just eating? We also shared the honey garlic chicken wings. Tasty and messy. Id like some carrots and celery to add to the value of the wings. 6 pieces for $10? hmm. They were good Ill say that.We did do some dancing as there was space and my friends make their living shaking their bonbons (friend for candy, American for booties).Slip in eat, dance and be merry. Oh and I will return they have some interesting desserts that I want to try.Enjoy!

I didnt eat here so please take this review with a grain of salt. Consider it only as far as the nightlife goes.Celebrating a friends going party I was asked to quickly find a spot that we could all go to and have no problem getting the group in. I looked at the specs and decided to give a shot to Fat Buddha. Ill tell you right off that bat, that I took one star away because there was a cover charge when so many of the other nearby venues didnt have one. By the time I realized this it was too late as half my group had already gone in before I could guide the other half over. I pulled the second star because the door staff was slightly abrasive in personality. We brought an even (1:1 ratio of males to females) mixed crown of ~20+ people but they seemed as though we were a nuisance for coming over.Admission charge and issues notwithstanding, we had a great time. The music was solid old school urban genres (Hip-Hop, Dancehall/Reggae, Reggaeton, R&B, Pop etc). If youre 25 and older, youll love it. The crowd was good looking. I could tell that the bar area was a little bit of a pick up scene (Beware of the sharks). Its oval shaped and accessible from all sides but congestion still occurs along the sides of the place so be ready to bob and weave a little bit to get a drink.I would recommend the spot but with an admission asterisk. In the future, I hope they relax a little at the door (Especially if one brings 20+ people to them for their patronage).

I was in NYC on holiday from the UK, and was told that this was the place to come to for a night of real hip hop. The place talks the talk, with an exterior that showcases some of the best LPs from the 90s. Even asked the guys on the door whether they play this kinda music and they all said yes. Step inside, and it was the generic crappy, meaningless hip pop found in every club. My advice: quit trying to act real.

Ive heard good things prior but I couldnt help but think we were discriminated against. I went for a friends birthday on a Saturday night, 10pm. Met up with a group and from the moment we arrived we felt very uneasy. $10 cover at the door, if you arent a NYU blonde. $20 for guys. Being with a mixed group of black and latinos we felt a bit targeted by the bouncers. I was stopped and searched, just to find a pocket sized umbrella. As a female, I dont often experience being stopped to show the inside of my jacket pocket. Also the bouncers suggested to our group that a friend was too drunk and insinuated that he may cause issues, simply because he tripped in the dimly lit, narrow venue. Several bouncers were in close proximity, and kept eyes on us for the remainder of our stay. Upon finally deciding to leave to find a more welcoming place to celebrate, the woman working the coat check gave us a difficult time since one of us lost our ticket. Only after a crude exchange and many of us pleading to the bouncers to please let us leave with our belongings, did she then look inside the jacket pocket to confirm the contents so that we could receive the rather expensive jacket. There was a group photo of us from a photo booth from earlier in the evening.

The cover kills this place, First the facts:-$10 Cover-$8 bud light type beers- Extremely small (the bar is about 80% of the space)- Crowd seams to be a regular of young east village/nyu type.- Good MusicMaybe it was the day i came but this bar was extreamly packed for no one really being inside. if that is confusing its cause thats how this bar made me feel. Due to the island bar there are only a few places to hang out: the narrow sides by the bar, the area in front of the door or the back table area/dace floor. Because of this you feel squeezed. Also the cover, its just silly to pay a cover for this area. there are 5 other bars that are exactly the same that dont charge a cover within site of the bar. they play the same music and have the same crowd. Covers make your bar stagnate as people dont bounce around till they find the right fit for their night. This is a good place if you are going with a party and dont plan on bouncing around but really if you are looking to go to a place like this go to Niagara down at Ave A and 8th Street. its the same with no cover and more room (for the area).

This bar is super cool! I came here for my sisters bday and they were so accommodating and all around awesome. The waitress was really nice and attentive, even when part of the party didnt show. The food is good. They move the tables around 10pm to create a dancefloor. Also, free coat check! Woo.The drinks are a bit watered down, but its all good. The barstaff is pretty good though, considering its in the middle of the bar and they have to attend to so many people. The music is awesome with a capital A. They play you regular top 40, but for the most part, is straight hip hop. Im talking old school Biggie, Jay Z, LL Cool J hip hop. So, yeah , I danced my butt off all night! They do charge 5 dollars after 11pm, but its totally worth it.Definitely coming back again soon!

I like this place as a restaurant but not so much as a bar. Late night the music tastes gets too mainstream and the crowd becomes a sea of pimped out white people grinding against each other
