This bar is a gem with super friendly staff and a rooftop that offers stunning views. Nice selection of cocktails, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy.
We had the best time. The service was fantastic and Aida the host was so welcoming and ensured my friends birthday was perfect. The East of Eden was delicious! The music could have been better though as it dragged a bit. This place would be awesome with a DJ! But will definitely be back again
Friday night, had a 9:45pm reservation. Arrived at 9:15pm and got a drink at the bar. Margarita was strong but fantastic. When 9:45 hit we went to the host for our table and were seated. Waitress came pretty quickly, but we were still finishing our drinks from the bar. She came back and we ordered drinks. Waited 30 mins and remindd her of the drinks we ordered. Finally, after an hour received our drinks. (Party of 2 by the way) finished drinks, ordered another round. Second round NEVER came. Bouncer then told us the side we were sitting on was closing. We left without that second round. Bar missed out honestly drinks were good but i dont know what Was up with our waitress … left disappointed
The staff was very kind and supportive. The common areas clean, and I really love the low light atmosphere. The single room where I slept was tiny but really clean, the bed super comfortable, the bathroom very small but cute. Instead the shower was quite big! I loved to stay there even though I was there for work.
What a cute little rooftop gem! The outdoor space isn’t huge, but definitely a nice space, there’s a side of the building with multiple two top tables, so it’s a great place to come on a date. Great happy hour menu, we got the watermelon margarita, a regular margarita and the bikini bottom. Service was fast and the staff was very nice, the outdoor space was great and it was quiet too, we were there about 430 pm so we were at a low time but it was perfect for us. Would love to go back and I highly recommend.
Overall rating: 4.5The only way to truly enjoy this place is to come in with low expectations between 4pm - 8pm or so. This is not your 1am type spot (which is mostly all of the 1-star reviews).I went with a large birthday party around 7 on a Friday night & similarly to the other reviews, the service is not great. That said, I just went to the bar and got a drink lol it wasn’t that complicated. These pictures are actually terrible. Because let me tell you- this place is a vibe & the music was great. I vaguely remember the food was good & it wasn’t that crowded (which is shocking). Getting a table does seem impossible, but even going with some friends at the bar is cool.I’d probably go again if I was in the area and was seeking a tiki vibe. It takes a specific level of energy to come here. Good energy. But I prefer more of a chill vibe. 🤙🏽🏄♀️
Nice views, but it can be hard to get a table sometimes. Fun place when its warm out, but not the best rooftop bar in the city.
Big fan of good well crafted cocktails and Broken Shaker definitely did not disappoint. They got great selection of specialty cocktails , outdoor seating and easy friendly vibe . By far Kiwi playhouse and Strawberry fields Marg is my favorite cocktails on the list - highly recommend to give it a try. Bartenders are cool and the whole atmosphere pretty relaxing, perfect way for a weekend night out, date or just stop by for a drink. For a good quality time prices are pretty reasonable, hidden NYC gem
Few notes:- Made reservation and no table was available, they offered that we drink standing up.- The check came and they refused to split the bill, forcing one person to pay for 6z- When leaving commented on the experience, our server’s response was a threat, saying ‘I get off at 3’Very unorganized, place hardly functioning, manager clueless, old system doesn’t take apple pay and took 15 minutes to swipe a card.Hostess was very nice and helpful, other than that, don’t.
The rooftop is great specially on summer days . There are seat outside and I love that . People are friendly .
Review from a native New Yorker: with all the pretentious rooftop options we have in the city, I was HIGHLY impressed with this place. Honestly the customer service here is unmatched..from the hostess to our wait staff. Food/bites and cocktails were superb, patio/rooftop views and vibes were phenomenal. Highly recommend to all to this place check out.
Awesome views. Music was great. Felt like a proper NY find. My GF had one of the more popular cocktails which was decent. I tried a Canadian guava, coriander and salty IPA which tasted like crab vomit. Horrendous beer.
Cute bar with rooftop seating! Happy hour available (I believe it ends at 6pm). Not a lot of food options and the ones available were pretty expensive. Drinks were delicious and staff were helpful.
Amazing atmosphere. Really a shame, drinks are $20/each. Bartender put 0 liquor in both drinks ordered. Margarita type cocktail with no tequila (it’s obvious there’s no alcohol) and a Negroni with no gin. Had a table the waiter took 30 mins to come by. Honestly terrible execution and service makes me sad. Great views.
I had a terrible week at work and just wanted to find a rooftop. I actually stumbled upon THE rooftop.Thank you *Marz, Ida, Oma* for turning my whole mood around! Excellent service enhances the incredible view and the food is the cherry on top. Drinks are well poured and flowing! I will be back. ❤️
Lovely space indoor and out. Inside feels like a beach party in the 70s in all the best ways. Secret garden vibe outside makes it feel that you’ve wound up somewhere outside the city, except when you look you find a beautiful view of the Chrysler building. Cocktails are delicious and inventive. Arrive early if you have any hope of grabbing a table, and be prepared for the crowds.
I recently went to the Broken Shaker before an event we were hosting. It took me 3 days to recieve a response about even having space for my party. When I arrived we were at a very uncomfortable table sitting on metal chairs. I looked at so many pictures of the venue prior to even booking and did not see a spot like that featured. They were full and said they couldnt move us.Then, I ordered a mix of appetizers with the waitress however she did not time the order and the food just kept coming out with no place to put anything because we had a tiny table. I kept asking them to hold some food but they just kept brigining it all out.The manager did come over but did not do much to help. Overall it was a bad experience, the food average and I would just reccommend it for drinks with friends nothing corporate related.
I love this place! The vibe is excellent, and there are two great employees Id like to give a shout-out to: Oma (server) and Mars (host/gadfly). The drinks are affordable, as is the food. Highly recommend!
Very nice, more intimate rooftop. Decent views (not the best) but cozy especially in the evening. The pork shoulder is banging. Plantain chips & guacamole are a good snack, too.
Marz was the best!!! Made the experience amazing and so fun. We had the best time ever. This place has the best vibes, the best drinks, and the best staff. If you wanna have a fun time with friends go here! Wont disappointment.
I’ve been going here for 4 year and it has always been a good vibe but it’s gotten better. The workers are so cool and the atmosphere is a vibe and the host Marx & Aida are such good energy! It’s hard to find this type of energy in New York
It’s called the broken shaker for a reason. Horrible, absolutely horrible service. I know racism and sexism when I see it. Recently stopped by for a quick drink after dinner in the area and I have never been so embarrassed. We came in thru the back area, were told by the elevator attendant to “explore and have fun.” So my group of 4 found a table to sit at and grabbed chairs since there wasn’t a hostess present. However, 5-10 minutes later we were unceremoniously removed from that table and told to find a new table because it did not follow their chair protocol. After being told to find our own table and seats, I went inside to ask the waiter who kicked us out to find us a chair to which he took offense to and called me “mamas” while arguing with me about whether or not we follows the right protocol from the start. Mind you there wasn’t a host present to direct us to a table when we exited the elevator and the security told us to “discover on our own’Unfortunately because my friend was unaware of the situation we had already paid for drinks at the bar so we sat at a high top. After sitting for a while we were having a conversation that had no relation to the waiter and then he sent the security to shush us and told us to “relax, because we were apparently offending him. Why was he eavesdropping on a private conversation to begin with?! Mind you, a table of 3 white men had just taken over the space we had been kicked out of and no one said anything to them. So many things transpired this evening that getting into details over Google is minute. I will never visit this establishment because the staff is so sexist, racist and horrible trained. Speaking to the manager was a fail because she explicitly said she was only on the job for 5 days. So either she will implement great change or she will quit because men in there have a problem dealing with pretty women who don’t let themselves be mistreated. The barstaff was kind enough, I hope you deal with them in a different establishment.
Nice bar with great views. Gets a bit busy and every table is reserved. WARNING: Do not get the Pickle Rick, truly rancid mold in a glass. Asked if something had gone wrong in the ingredients and was told thats how its supposed to taste. The bartender was nice and replaced our drinks with something better.
Decent rooftop bar with ok drinks. Liked that the punch only cost $14. Beach drink cost $18. View could also be better.
Super cute spot with the most beautiful views of NYC! It was at the top floor of our hotel, so super convenient location. It was kinda annoying to have to leave the hotel & go around the corner on the street to enter, but they mentioned it was b/c it was under construction, so Im sure thatll get better soon. Drinks were delicious & so much variety on types of seating!
Popped in on a Sunday for a midday drink, got seated right away. Comfy atmosphere, chill music, nice lighting. The patio is very extensive! Cocktail menu is a little small, but they made an off-menu tiki/beach drink no sweat. Staff was knowledgeable and super friendly - I asked for the price on a whiskey pour and they ended up giving me a free taste! 🍹
Mickey the manager rocks! Our party of 7 was able to get a table without a wait. The menu is nicely varied without being overwhelming. Vegan, vegetarian, fish, and meat options. The drinks were fantastic and the atmosphere was lively but chill. Definitely recommend! Say hi to Mickey, hell be wearing the orange pants!
We sat at the bar. Unfortunately when we arrived, it’s like the lady bartender didn’t care about us, and ignored us for the whole time, while catering to the other customers at the bar around us. Maybe because we didn’t look like party-goers and they did? I dunno. It would’ve been nice if she at least said something like “hey, I see you and I’ll be right with you”. There was another guy (who wasn’t a bartender) who gave us glasses of water, and said sorry that it will take a bit more time. We thank him because at least he cared. After some minutes, a new bartender arrives and comes and takes our order. He seemed like a nice guy. Too bad the experience has already been tainted. The 2 stars for Service are for these 2 guys only, 3 stars removed because of that lady and the whole experience. Good thing we were staying at the Freehand hotel and didn’t go too much out of our way just to come here.
Barman knew what he was doing with creative and well executed unique cocktails, from a former barman. Nice interior and exterior.
I was really disappointed when the elevator door opened to the roof. The first thing you see is some dated and dusty Christmas leftovers hanging around a window. You can see there is an outside area with tables. It’s basically an outdoor hallway against a wall with no decor whatsoever. Then there’s a main bar , also pretty dated and is just sad and uninteresting. This place used to be a rooftop tiki bar but is a sad rundown rooftop bar with half dead plants and worm out outdoor seating.. they really need look at some episodes of Gilligans Island and get this sad sunken ship a makeover!
Great staff, normal prices. Loved the location. It was kinda weird going by the freight elevatirs there but overall nice place. I would go again.
Had a yummy drink that was on special. Great atmosphere, staff and music.
Dont waste your money. We probably should have quit right at the point when the staff yelled at us for coming up the wrong elevator, we were staying at the hotel and were 2 floors below the roof. Rude waitress demanded a credit card on entering the bar where we then sat on rickety metal chairs. $19 martini, probably the worst Ive ever had, tasted watered down and came with a couple of limp olives and a $2 extra charge for bar tenders choice ? Never asked me if I had a preference for the gin. This hotel is really nice and the other bars are great so definitely skip this one, go to Bar Calico or Comodo, both highly recommended.
Fun bar, great drinks, good bartenders, really rude hostess. Came tonight with a group of friends. We didnt have a reservation but were willing to stand or squeeze and were lucky to find an open space to fit our group. The group next to us had an extra chair and offered it to us. Some time later the hostess approached our group and asked if we had taken a chair from the neighboring table. We said yes and moved to return the chair but she continued to scold us, asking why we thought it was okay to move a chair and who gave us the chair. We had been laughing about our conversation when she approached and she asked what we thought was so funny about this. She said (as we were trying to hand her the chair) dont touch my chairs. Im trying to seat a reservation here, you cant just move my chairs. We were not trying to keep the chair to her and there were also several open chairs at other non-reserved tables nearby. It was a really weird response and a really uncomfortable interaction in what was otherwise a good time! We were having a great time and were planning to stay and order more drinks but this interaction kind of ruined our experience so we decided to head elsewhere for drinks. Would definitely have recommended Broken Shaker to friends but now I would hesitate to do so.
Excellent rooftop barno draught beer which was a pity
The price was more than you would expect, especially after the size of the drinks. There was a good vibe but very dark, it could do with just a little more lighting. 😊
Went to the rooftop bar. Cool vibe and good drinks. Covered/heated outdoor area and uncovered area.
This bar is truly so awful. They booted us out of our table because we “ordered food”? Extra sad because we were here for our friend’s birthday. The wait staff continually snapped at us for like 2 hours while we quietly hung out in the cold, making zero complaints, until they kicked us out of our seats for spending even more $ on food? I just don’t really understand the appeal. Like at some point a few of us gathered around an empty table on the patio, and then this person rushed up to us, slapped a “reserved” onto the table, and hissed, “Don’t put your drinks on the table, guys.” As if tables were for something else at a bar? I’ve lived in NYC for a while, own a business here, and just genuinely wouldn’t recommend anyone come here.
Great rooftop for some amazing views and cocktails
Great rooftop for happy hour and midtown views
Great rooftop. Delicious drinks. A go-to for me
This place must be one of those mediocre, themed bars/restaurants where the staff acts rude as part of a bit. The most inhospitable people I’ve ever encountered. Was there with a small group for a friend’s birthday and staff members were aggressively threatening to escort us out for asking if we could stay at our table and order more drinks/food for a few additional friends that showed up? The hostess was extremely rude and even told someone from our party that she was no longer going to talk to them.
Overall nice spot with a good rooftop. Which there was some more seating at the bar outside you didn’t have to reserve, but service was great, food was good, and atmosphere was on point.
The cocktail was nice but kind of strong. The staff are nice but isnt easy to find so place to seat.
Such a fun place! The atmosphere is so cool, the music is great, staff are super nice and happy, the drinks are wonderful... I have nothing bad to say about Broken Shaker. If youre in the area and want really fun cocktails, I highly recommend coming here.
What’s not to love about a rooftop with indoor and outdoor space that serves yummy, complex tiki drinks?
Fun atmosphere both inside and out. Great music, yummy bar food. We sat outside and you have to come in to order food at the bar but they bring it out to you. Drinks were all delicious. Wish there was a dessert option!
A hidden gem in the area. The bar is so cozy and i loved the decorations. Theres only a few seats at the bar so we got a table instead which was shared with another couple across it who were really friendly. The drinks were really good. My boyfriend got some wine and i got their punch of the day, which had soju and raspberry. It was so good and tasted like juice. In the early afternoon it was more quiet and nice
Great atmosphere. Excellent city views from the rooftop patio. The cocktails are delicious.
The place is very nice and had a great atmosphere along with a nice view. However, the girl at the front (hostess) was rude and nasty for no reason. She seemed to be very miserable at work and it showed. Very unwelcoming. On top of that, the waiter messed up our order/drinks twice but made it up by not charging any of the drinks. Nice place but definitely not the best customer service.
I was with two friends and a baby, and we got harassed, intimidated and stood over to be evicted because of a No children after 6pm on the premises. It was a 10 month old baby sitting on his mothers lap, made to feel like criminals. Even after we had asked for the bill, for 15 minutes the head of security stood over us asking us to be prepared to leave, and when we asked for the manager he claimed he was the manager. Mind you, when we insisted to see the manager, we were met with the head of food and beverages who continued to see us out while claiming that he wasnt aware of such a policy. Overall rude poor customer service, discriminatory harassing behaviour that dampened an evening out, and putting the premises at risk of legal action unnecessarily. We had been there barely an hr, server was great, food was great. View too. But, super horrendous management. So many places to frequent in NYC, theres no need to give this place ours/your business.
Great rooftop spot. Nice and low-key compared to some of the other big rooftop places. The drinks are wonderful. I love the cocoa puff old fashioned however the bartenders make pretty good drinks so anything and everything is delicious. Great vibes.
Staying at the Freehand, a fun hotel and was so happy the hotel bar open again after a long pandemic year. What was the experience? One of community joy and celebration at the opening of the hotel bar? No. It was like descending into hell. The bar was 75% empty and we were the only ones put outside, rainy in the low 40’s, the chairs were covered with rain that we had to clean ourselves that napkins we had to find in the main area. Zero service or help. I requested an indoor table (they were 75% empty) but instead was told they had reservations for all the tables (these people never showed up, just got even more vacant) - was even able to book a table on open table without a problem, wide open all night, just totally fake. Wannabe pretentious management that insults native city people. After freezing in the rain the wish to finally enjoy a cocktail in the hotel I was staying in vanished into the worse bar experience of my life anywhere in the world - left my meal half finished and left. Totally clueless amateur even pathetic bar would all be a compliment for our actual experience. Very sad for the Freehand. Lots of great places in the neighborhood, so the night was saved by friendly well run local places with class, better food selection then three fast food entrees, drinks served in warm inspiring ambiences and excellent staff training that is the norm for Manhattan. However since the amenities are everything in a NYC hotel, this puts the freehand somewhere in the minus one star range. The worst bar experience ever. A hotdog in the rain and sleet would be a better more friendly experience. The Broken Shaker is indeed very broken.
Music, vibes and mainly per my last email cocktail is everything!!!Loved this place!
Views views views! (Oh and great cocktails). Casual NYC moments don’t get better than this!
Suuuuper cute, bartenders are so hawt and on it, very good at what they do
Went here on a whim after work with a colleague. Another coworker was staying here so we libated while we waited.Drinks and service was fantastic. This place is v small, but the hostess was very kind to give us a small table that was already reserved (they were still an hr out, and we were just staying for 1-2 drinks). Liked my drink, a fun mezcal cocktail. My co-worker just got a whiskey on a big rock, no complaints. The vibe was good here, could have a convo without having to shout, but still felt very lively. Would go again.
Nice view good atmosphere, the lady who was taking our order was very friendly and attentive! The only thing is that there were some staffs keep coming to our table to be lifting our cups randomly to check if it’s empty..? It felt rude sometimes since they would suddenly come from our back to lift the cup up that I was clearly still drinking..
Decor, service, drinks and the vibes are superb here. Definitely worth checking out. Great place for catching up with friends!Miguel the bartender is really incredible and knowledgeable about his mixes. Looking forward to going back soon!
Amazing rooftop lounge on top of the Freehand Hotel. Large and has both indoor and outdoor seating. Wasnt mobbed during our weekend visit for some reason but its a great place to hang out with groups or couples.
Hostess Jen was extremely rude and disorganized. Was not accommodating for our party of 6 who had already bought a round of drinks. Can’t understand how you can treat paying customers that way…Two stars as the drinks were good.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! I enjoyed the cocktails with a view!
Cute rooftop bar, came with a friend for a live music event - little too noisy to appreciate the music, but chill vibes. Bartender made me a nice little mocktail. :)
Awesome bar with great food, drinks, and the views are incredible!
I went here on a Sunday. Mainly locals in this rooftop which makes it a lot better. Loved the environment, the decor, the music, the bartenders and the drinks which were all pretty pretty good. I ordered a St Germain with soda and mint and the barte der nailed it. Totally recommend!
Really nice design and different parts of this rooftop make it fun to explore. Need to come back when it is nice out to enjoy the patio! Drinks are original and worth their high prices
Great rooftop bar and lounge. Ordered food for the first time here tonight and the burger was amazing. And the fries that came with it were A+.
Absolutely fab spot, just got a little refresh and I’m loving the tequila drinks on the menu!
We hosted out holiday party here. The theme was kinda Polynesian with 80s throw back. Really unique and playful. LOVED the music. Nice atmosphere; Id definitely return.
We came for happy hour and it had been my first time since the pandemic. Drinks were strong but service was very slow as it started to get busier. There was literally one bartender for the entire outdoor space. They also have table service too but it was still very backed up at the bar. Vibe is good, outdoor space is kind of small and cramped.
Very nice bar on the upstairs of Freehand Hotel. It has nice drinks and great atmosphere with kinda of pop music. Its not big, but they have a nice balcony that can be very good to stay at in the summer. We were there in the winter and it was freezing. Ordered some good IPAs and negronis. Good thing about their negronis is that they serve it with a single big cube of ice, so it melts slowly and equally. Overall it is a nice place to get a drink after work
A friend and I decided to try this place at 8pm for drinks on a tuesday night. There was a short line of 5 people outside and it took us 1 hour to be let inside. Once in there, we realized the place was 90% empty. They made the people in front of us wait (and us as well) just for the appearance of exclusivity. A manager outside said there was a big event inside but when we saw him later inside and asked nicely about the event, he said were getting ready for it and dismissed us. Keep in mind this was at 10pm and they closed at 11pm that night. When we left at 10:30pm, it was still 90% empty. I mean you kinda expect rude treatment and straight up lies from a club but this is not a club. Pretentious and straight up liars. Oh, and when we originally got to the front of the line 45 minutes after arriving, the door person said its really packed so i dont know if you want to wait or go elsewhere. Smh.
Very cool rooftop bar with an awesome back-alley type entrance. Amazing empanadas, daily punch, and cocktails. Awesome staff, awesome bartenders (love that she noticed my I Hate You Caticorn shirt). We will definitely try to return.
Ive never been here. Why am I getting this on my phone?
Food never came after last time we were there, but been here bunch of times for drinks, always great! Their bartenders are amazing! Rotating DJs that are always solid. Great time, day or night
Super fun and kind of hidden! They have a great menu and an option to sit inside or outdoors on the rooftop. Very creative, hipster type of vibes and good music (live dj)
Cool place. Make a reservation in advance and have your drinks at the outdoor terrace for some nice views of NYC. They do have good cocktails, too.
We walked in here on an empty Tuesday evening with a large group. The staff was absolutely horrendous. The attitude was through the roof. They asked us to leave after 30 minutes, even though the entire place was empty now let’s not even talk about the drinks no mint in the Mojito the piña colada tasted like an expired can of condensed milk And still has the audacity to charge $20 per cocktail. You can pass.
Amazing rooftop bar! Perfect find!
Totally not what I expected, I had the impression this place would be filled with easy going down to earth people, but instead its full of pretentious tiktokers. I tried out the bar below too, much the same, not my vibe at all.
Get experience at Broken Shaker- the staff was incredible!Oma, Kyle and Gerald were so accommodating and helpful! It’s so nice to see a place with a great team of staff.I would highly recommend!Drinks were great! And they have a great happy hour until 6!
I recently hit up the Broken Shaker with some coworkers for happy hour on a Thursday because Im a sucker for a Tiki theme. Tucked away in Gramercy atop the Freehand Hotel, its not your typical midtown rooftop setting; this is more of a intimate spot, with Havana-style decor, bartenders and staff in Hawaiian print shirts and attractive hipsters holding tropical-inspired drinks. Its a fun summer scene for sure, especially in this concrete jungle, but note the drinks can get pricy, space can be limited and the lines to get in can be daunting. I recommend a reservation or going early on. It may not be the best rooftop in Manhattan but if youre in the area and want something fun and kitschy, its a nice alternative.
Horrible customer service. Im used to bars having tables you can sit at. Most of the tables were full when an employer gave us two chairs to sit in. Another employee came by and snapped at us for using chairs, then she went away and it was fine. Then someone gave us their table, yet another employee said it was fine to sit there. About 10 minutes later someone throws a wooden block over us at the table and walks away. It says see host. Hmm ok, someone was just here I dont know why they didnt just tell me what was up and passive aggressively threw a block at me. The hostess then tells me that I have to leave after I went to see host. I just dont understand this bar and i do not understand why no one was up front with us. Absolutely awful.
If you enjoy being scolded or ignored, you should date my ex... and go to this bar.Clearly there was a scientific breakthrough - the servers there are all conceived by your dentist, IRS officer and TSA agent.
The shrimp dumplings and the cocktails are all great. The sliders are pretty middling.
Funky, trendy spot with quality cocktails. The wait for a table is long and the prices will hurt your wallet.
Wonderful spot for a cocktail and to enjoy great views. Perfect place on a hot summer evening or during the day. Solid date spot or to hang out with friends.
Great happy hour specials, and the chicken sandwich is phenomenal. 5 stars if they would keep the line moving. Place is half empty with a line down the block half the time.
Classic rooftop vibes in the heart of Kips Bay. Drink prices are decent as far as rooftops go (most specialty cocktail around $15). Plenty of opportunities to get Instagrammable scenes.
Great rooftop with good happy hour deals. Lovely servers. Great views. Recommended
Great atmosphere! The drinks were tasty and unique. The views can’t be beat. Loved the live band as well.
Not bad, probably nicer when it is warm and the terrace is open...
Great vibes here!! Was too cold to sit outside but still great views.
FOOD MADE ME SICK; I thought it was a very well decorated place so we went for a dinner 🥘 and had paella with seafood and ceviche with seafood. I woke up with a stomachache 6 in the morning and throw up for couple hours... 🤢 Seafood wasn’t fresh & safe
Very rude bartenders. Stood there for almost 5 mins and got no response, later when I asked I got told in a rude way that they cannot serve drinks since it was 1:30 am. Some guys who were with me got the drinks though. This type of preferential treatment is totally unprofessional. The management should train the staff to be polite to the patrons!
Went for drinks on the rooftop. Skilled bartenders can make a great drink. Atmosphere was excellent. Only downside is very pricey but nonetheless, strong and worth it
The chicken sandwich left a bit to be desired but atmosphere and drinks made up for it. Extremely friendly staff, nice rooftop vibe -not the”best rooftop bar” in the city but a decent selection should you find yourself in this section of town.
Balcony runs the length the block on the Lexington Avenue side. Garden-y vibe with tables hidden amongst shrubbery and flowers. Has a bar inside and a bar outside. Single stall unisex bathrooms.
Stumbled into this place at 2 am while trying to get into the Washington bar that was closed for a private event. Fun atmosphere and Latin music was playing. Drinks are a little pricey but there is value for money given the cool space and entertainment (music/dancing).
One of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city!! Great drinks too- the punch is delish and pretty cheap
Awful table service. Was there for two hours and the waitress took my card to open a tab and was not seen from again. Took me over an hour to ask multiple people to close me out and get my card back.
A nice and spacious bar with a nice staff. However it is so spacious that it can feel empty. Been there around 3-4 times and wished it was busier.
Had a company party. Really nice environment
Great bar. More importantly - I forgot my credit card there and they were very helpful in retrieving it which you can’t say about bars generally in New York City. Good place.
We stopped there for a quick drink before dinner and were not disappointed. Great staff, great place and amazing drinks.
Went because it was listed as a Tiki bar, but that was definitely not the vibe. More of a loud bar
Nice intimate feel with a great view!
Great rooftop bar to spend some time with long time friends. Cocktails were excellent!
Their website is incorrect- happy hour is only from 4-5pm, not 4-6pm. Management- please update website. Went out of our way to come here, only to find out there were no happy hour deals. False advertising and not good business practices.
Loved the food, music and vibes.
It was a super fun rooftop experience. We didnt get to try the food as they didnt have anyone in the kitchen that night, which was unfortunate, but we dont blame them. Drinks were... Manhattan prices, but expected.
Incredible views paired with phenomenal cocktails!
Horrible customer service. They kicked us out of the lobby while we were waiting for our Uber after getting drinks at the bar. And they were so rude about it. It was racist and we will not return
This place is the hottest place in NYC. The best and most creative drinks, a food menu that is better than any restaurant in town. The people are great looking and the ambiance is a 10! Love this place!!!
Most of the comments were funny,, but they don’t have any nonalcoholic options like soda
Great view! Not much of a selection in food but it was tasty. The drinks though were not good that I didnt bother finishing it.
Entrance through the service elevator. No one there to seat us, had to wait 10 min. No one there to take our order. We left after 20 min. Ill never go back.
What a place. Could be there 24/7. Highly recommended and must go place in NYC.
Delicious drinks and great vibe with good music. Nice patio area along the sides and back of the venue.
Good place for Japanese single malts and a bit more space than just rooftop
The decor is kind of tacky. It was a nice place and the views are great but the rooftop itself is outdated and needs a better vibe
Great rooftop - it’s large/spacious and beautifully designed - I love the beach shack-like theme they have. Drinks are okay, not exceptional. They have some food and it’s decent. Service is good too. I would definitely recommend for the vibe/decor and the great sunset views (obviously)
Loved the Aperol Spritz! Unfortunately if your Valentines date wants one too, she probably just wants to be friends.
The bar staff here are very responsive. Great service and a kind word to boot.
Such a relaxing atmosphere with great music and people. The views outside are stunning and the inside is very chill. The lounge offers a few drinks, which are on the expensive side but considering the location and the view its justified. We found it by accident walking around in the area and loved the vibe.It is already in my favorites list.
Gave away our table within 15 mins of our reservation, what kinda NYC bar does that? Over priced and not worth it
Its a terrific space even in the winter when you cant really go outside. The drinks are super creative and, of course, delicious.
Great cocktail spot... Awesome drinks, friendly service, very cool ambiance, nice views... Go early before the line to get in gets long...
Nice dimly lit spot, cool place to hang on rooftop, and good even if its too cold to be outside. A bit club-y, so the door ID guy gave me a hard time for no reason.
Great views, slightly hidden bar, but very nice roof top. The food and drink selection was awesome, but the service was pretty slow.. had to get up multiple times to get their attention to order
Pricey drinks. cool designed space playing off the old brick elements, neat atmosphere, and great views. There is a lot of space; its unique and intimate. I appreciated the plants.
Comfortable lounge/bar. The staff is a little bit too cool for school but theyre good at their jobs. Great cocktails and bright decor.
Great little hidden gem
Great vibe and food/drinks! Service was 10/10 the hostess Oma could not have been more lovely and she helped us so attentively despite being super busy. Recommend!!!
Its probably a bit too trendy for me, that being said the bar tenders know their jobs, and make some great drinks. Great views, good food.
Atmosphere and drinks are amazing! Miguel and Ethan are outstanding and at the bar!! Totally recommend!
It’s fine, it’s a roof
This place is so cute! Garden nyc rooftop serving delicious drinks. Cheerful indoor and outdoor ambiance. Seating for smaller parties
Had a great experience here. Great views!!
Great view, Sunday night so was not too loud. Decent crowd. Staff had a great attitude.
Food and drinks were delicious. Interesting cocktail options, including a daily punch. Good assortment of shareable apps. We loved the tuna with sticky rice and a platter of 3 spreads w pita and crudite. Mmm. Its best to make a reservation for outdoor seating.
Really liked the rooftop bar, had a natural feel to it with lots of greenery. Tables were spacious and spread out, the drinks were really solid but prices you’d expect in Flatiron. Bikini Bottom was my favorite! With the nice weather this is a great spot for hanging out and chatting, not necessarily a high energy vibe.
Kind of a headache with their reservation system. Some staff were explicitly rude. Drinks were okay.
Excellent burger. Solid cocktails. Genuinely impressed. Please don’t drop your levels of service.
Fun rooftop bar! Packed though!
Its just closes too early and sporadically. If there were consistent operations schedules for this place, it would be great 👍🏽
The atmosphere of this club strikes the senses with Caribbean vibes combined with a stunning view of NYC skyline. You will loce or!
Very rude host. Accused us of trying to bring in liquor multiple times before we could even order. Proceeded to try and intimidate us while we decided to leave due to his behavior. Byebye
Cute rooftop bar with good food. It’s very busy though, we struggled to find somewhere to sit.
Entrance is on 24th street just around the corner from the Freehand hotel on Lexington
Great place, great veiw
Great rooftop atmosphere. Good beer and craft drinks.
Lovely & cozy rooftop bar with good views. They also have beers.
One of my favorite rooftops. Try the strawberry glitter drink if you’re in the mood for a smoothie!
Overpriced drinks that didnt taste very good. Do have a good rooftop though but thats it.
Beautiful views from East 23rd Street. Yummy snacks and cocktails. Great place to gather friends afterwork.
Nice rooftop bar with not great views but tasty drinks
Didn’t let brown or ethnic girls in. White blonde girls on their high
Great design and space, staff was wonderful, little crowded but that was to be expected on a weekend in New York!
Cute spot. Mixed happy hour crowd probably half hotel guests.
An oasis on top of the building. Feels like a vacation in the middle of the city. Very friendly and enjoyable drinks.
Great views!
Rooms clean and cozy. small for the price, but hey, its NYC.
Cool decor and great views. Despite being a tropical themed bar, they cant make a mai tai.
Love a good rooftop and this place has good music too.
Rooftop with vivid ambiance & solid drinks. Great date spot!
Had drinks only. Cool vibe, nice music!
It was nice, polite and organized staff. There better rooftops in NYCs..
A very nice spot with an amazing rooftop bar. Be sure to reserve a table as they are usually quite busy.I am only giving 4 stars as we had an encounter where we met friends there and they were adamant that we need to leave because we cant be a party of 10, even so we were just spread out across the area. That made 10 sense to me and I dont understand how you just throw out people like that.Apart from that only positive experiences
Great cocktails! Must visit it in summer to enjoy the terrace.
Sad they don’t have the happy hour anymore but their punch is still strong and has a great view
Was excited to check this place out so made a reservation for dinner and drinks. Got seated pretty quickly, only to have pretty much non existent service. Our food came out 20 minutes before we got our drinks, we were actually done eating before we got our drinks. I’m the middle of our drinks an employee came over and accused us of sitting at a reserved table that wasn’t for us, after we told her we had the reservation and we’re seated by the hostess at this table we didn’t even really get an apology. We asked her for the check since we hadn’t seen our waitress in a long time and then went and spent our money at other places. It was a shame because I normally love places with a tropical flair but the service and vibes were just not it.
Great service, great Bar and view.Enjoyed very much.
Try the tuna ceviche, not the shawarma fries 😳
Great views of New York however a very limited beer menu. Didn’t stay for very long because of this. They have indoor and outdoor seating.
Atmosphere is very trendy, the drinks were done very well though.
Host staff is awful and rude. Physically threatened a small woman who was ahead of me in line.
I like to consider this one of the “hidden gem” bars in midtown. It’s located on a pretty quiet street near Baruch college, but the bar is a quick elevator ride up. There has always been ample space, good drinks, and a DJ in the main room. The staff and bartenders are all really nice as well. Good drinks, I’ve been here a number of times with my friends and will definitely be going back!
I wish i could give this bar 0 stars. If you want to have a horrible night then go here
Great view of the Manhattan skyline. There are two parts to the bar, both of which feature different music and ambience.
Classic place for young people in Williamsburg, high end sports bar. Crowd is between 21-30 year olds.
Nice rooftop bar. Cool people. Good cocktails.
The drinks were outstanding but the music.... ohhh the music was not so much
Google maps says they’re open till midnight, got turned away at 11pm.
Great views, great service, incentive drinks that match the menu.
Really cool hip bar, very intersting drinks And atmosphere
The space itself is very nice on the other hand the hostess was so rude and unprofessional, even giving us side eye.
Awesome place, crowded, unpadded metal benches outside like every other place in the city
Beautiful place!
Great space that feels like a beautiful garden away from the city even though its right in the heart of Manhattan.Drinks are fun. Lots of outdoor space. Easy to find nooks with friends.Best part - views and feeling of getting out of the city!
Love it here
A party of 5 was told, “Because you are wearing shorts, we can only let you in if you pay $600 for a table.”1. Ew2. This is 20233. Sexiest, as a rule, does not apply to women. This group was very well-dressed (3 girls and two guys), and we were well-behaved.We just said we were leaving and took an Uber to the next place. My point is that such behavior should not be tolerated, and many clubs and bars were previously closed because of sexism and discrimination. I hope yours does too.Asking us to pay $600 to make an exception for the rule shows the type of establishment you are running.
If you want to wait 30 minutes with 5 people at the bar it’s a great spot. Bar tender averaged 1 drink per 5 min at best.
Nice low key rooftop with good views and vibes. Had our Clueless cocktails made by the stylish creator of the drink and they were delicious and made with love! Went again and it does get swamped at weekend nights, with potentially not enough bar staff to handle the crowds with the same love. If heading here again Id go for the after work drinks (shot+beer+cocktail will get you going!) rather than braving the crowd.
A pretty balcony bar with lots of greenery and fresh air, perfect for drinks and appetizers in nice weather
Staff was a little short w me and my friends, it has kinda weird tiki bar/ disco ball decor.Very small menu. Wouldn’t be my first choice but wasn’t awful.
While the ambiance can be relatively good (at times) and the decor is nice, this place is quite overpriced. Further, service is slow and security is incredibly rude. Also, who closes a bar on a Saturday at 12:30am? Odd. We were asked to leave on a rush and were even denied the option of using the bathroom before leaving. As you can see in the reviews, people have mixed feelings and widely varying experiences, but most negative ones center around wait times, prices, and security. So, with so many significantly better alternatives, why even bother? Id just skip.Just around the corner there are better bars.
Really dope atmosphere, good drinks too
COY IS AMAZING! Came to NY last weekend to celebrate my best friends birthday and find the wedding dress of my dreams. Found the Broken Shaker about 4 years ago and fell in love, but loved it even more this time due to the bartender Coy. HER ENERGY!!! She was very caring of what our specific needs were and extremely attentive. GET THIS GIRL A RAISE! 10/10
