Bar Belly is a happy hour dream! My friend and I stopped by and were so impressed with the amazing deals. I enjoyed a couple of beers, a glass of Prosecco, and we indulged in a generous helping of oysters — all at an incredible price. The oysters were fresh and delicious, making it an unbeatable value for seafood lovers. The atmosphere is lively and bustling, with a vibrant crowd that adds to the charm of the place. Even though it was busy, the staff kept everything running smoothly, and we felt well taken care of. If you’re looking for a spot with great vibes, fantastic happy hour deals, and tasty bites, Bar Belly is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!
Loved the ambiance, music, and friendly bartenders! Super extensive cocktail menu, great for a date or a night out with friends! Complimentary truffle popcorn was a plus too!4.5/5 Punch Card4.5/5 Pineapple ExpressSecond visit during Happy Hour and we greatly enjoyed it!5/5 $1 Oysters -- some of the best HH oysters Ive had in the city. The soy dipping sauce was so unique and paired so nicely with the oysters!5/5 Casanova - refreshing with the perfect hint of floral flavor4/5 Star Dust4/5 Squarepants
Great place for happy hour oysters, otherwise definitely on the pricier side, and very loud inside - difficult to hear people seated together
Came last Friday for a date night w my partner around 10pm. We loved the wine and they had some really good cocktails! Our server Winnie was so attentive and really contributed to our great experience! Definitely recommend stopping by for a drink! (Also the popcorn they have on the table was so good and never empty!!)
Came for happy hour. They offer $1 oysters and $10 wines with complimentary truffle popcorn. Also had the tater tots Also good. The ambiance is casual, cozy and romantic. Service is attentive and fast. Price is affordable. Good for a date or hanging out with friends.
Alexandra took care of us during happy hour and was a fantastic bartender. Drinks were excellent, house made popcorn was a nice touch - we loved it. Recommend this place!
One of my favorite bar in LES.The neighborhood itself has a lot of positive energy, full of youth, inspirations! And, I could say, it was my best of best cocktails I’ve ever had. The bartender seemed to show amazingly professional, I have no idea on bartending, but, overall the vibe was fantastic. Bunch of people looked so in trend hahahahaGood place to swing by for next round, of course for a date or with friend’s and families. Highly recommend! Especially with this reasonable price! $_$
Great bar in LES. Beautiful ambiance, low key and dim lit. They have live jazz typically I believe she said wed-Saturday. They have a few items on HH, their version of espresso martini was delicious, and we also got the oysters which were $1 each and were good!
Amazing amazing oyster bar! Went here with a friend and got 20 oysters, tater tots, and many glasses of wine. The oysters are decent, briney but kinda small. Great deal for $1 of course. The best part were the sauces - totally topped off the oysters. The tater tots were so crispy and well seasoned with a super delicious sauce on the side. The cherry on top was the service. All of the servers and bar staff were so beyond kind and helpful. Highly recommend!!
Went there on a Monday during hh and overall a pleasant time but thought the service could be better - they have a cap of 12 oysters pp so my friend and I only gotten 18, but somehow they heard 15. Waited quite a while for raw food, and waited again for the next 3 to come. Also it was such a hard time getting their attention, no water refills and had to call for them. Only gave us one fork and spoon to share for our oyster platter, so had to get their attention again. Dollar oysters were fresh but definitely there are better spots in nyc for them
Awesome little cocktail bar. Very cute ambiance, super talented bartenders (drinks are always delicious and often surprising!). Chill place to grab tasty apps and drinks for nice night out. Bringing my partner back here for sure!! Cocktails prices but not crazy cocktail prices like some of those other places :)
Great happy hour experience. $1 oysters and a decent variety of drink options. Good vibe and a lot of tables - only walk-ins apparently.
Good spot for happy hour in lower east side. Oysters were 1$ and the provide house popcorn which was seasoned great. Cocktails were pretty good and the atmosphere was lively. Ideal spot to come after work and chat
One of my favorite Covid bars. It’s small, reality quiet and serves tasty drinks. We ordered the Watermelon High Ball, La Lupe, Fries, and a few Oysters. The cocktails are always amazing. We tried the Oysters for the first time and we’re absolutely impressed.Fries are nothing special, just solid fries with ketchup. No need to over complicate an tasty snack.
Cute small joint, with a interesting drinks and food.I only stopped to see the place and have a cocktail. They have their own variation of aperol spritz, which is decent. A Frozen cocktail that is delicious. The service isn’t the greatest, I was seating by the bar and it took forever to get my oysters, and despite the fact I was right in front of the bartender he seems to be a little ambushed by the plenty of cocktails request will pop up. Main reason why I left right after my oysters which took forever to get to me.I wasn’t sold by my first time here. I’ve heard about this place plenty of times, but didn’t quite have the “experience” other might’ve had. Not sure if it’s cause the time of the day I went, which was right after they opened.
I ate here twice and both times was charged for drinks I didn’t order. The first time we caught it before we paid. The second time we noticed after we paid. If it happened once, maybe it’s a mistake— but twice? The food and atmosphere aren’t good enough to justify coming back.
Very good oysters served at happy hour. This place has a bit of an eclectic vibe - intimate dim lighting, whimsical bar area with lots of metallic elements, and free popcorn. We started the evening at Bar Belly around 5pm on a Friday. Not too crowded but quickly became busy. Will definitely return.
Came in on a Sunday night for happy hour. Got two rounds of drinks and some popcorn. Love the vibe in here and the service was awesome! I’ve gotten oysters in the past which are delicious. Love this spot so much.
Fabulous bar with the most amazing staff. We arrived during happy hour and the drinks were really well priced. A complimentary bowl of savoury popcorn at every table demonstrates the thought and attention given to the whole experience. The mixologist at the door makes a fabulous first impression and is a great bloke.
Nice outdoor setup on the street. They don’t have too many tables, so be prepared to take your drink to go if there is no seating available. Quieter block on Orchard, which makes for a more relaxing atmosphere. People catching up rather than getting hammered. We tried the highball and asked for mezcal instead of tequila - tasted great.
Between the live music, oysters, and specialty cocktails, Bar Belly is a pretty ideal early-in-the-game date spot. The dark, narrow space on the Lower East Side has a cocktail and raw bar up front, along with a bunch of small tables past the musicians in the back. Besides oysters, which are $1 during Happy Hour, they also serve good small plates like lamb meatballs and octopus.
Solid cocktails, prompt service even though it is was a packed Friday night
Spent new years here with a friend, Genesis and the other waitress with the curly hair (sorry forgot the name!) were great! Atmosphere of the bar is great and prices are fair. Visiting from Canada but will definitely come back next time I’m in the city.
Place is very cozy and moody, there was live music and place was full. I walked in 2 minutes before happy hour ended and I was still able to put in oysters at the price thanks to the server, which I loved! Had 2 cocktails which were strong and complimentary popcorn!
They are open! Love the music, the ambiance, the service, the hot toddy, the pineapple Express, the belly fries, the sensual popcorn, get over here! The bathrooms are beautiful 😁
Great drinks and popcorn. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because we had to ask our server a few times for more popcorn or to turn the heat lamp on. We ended up never getting more popcorn even though we asked twice. Also, the punch bowl on the menu says it is meant for 4-6 people but it somehow ended up costing more than buying 6 of that drink - the price isn’t even on the menu. We incorrectly assumed we’d be paying the price of the drink for 6 people or less. It ended up being $100, a price that should definitely be added to the menu. When we asked our server about it, she said it’s meant for 6-8 people and that’s why they’ve priced it as such, although that’s not what the menu says. Adding the pics of the menu and of the drinks.
The general manager is racist. Kicked me out when I asked for 2 drinks and tried to charge me for 4. She needs to be fired immediately.
Had such a great time here after work with some coworkers. Gabriella was amazing! I am coming back!
I really enjoyed my visit to Bar Belly. We were looking for a oyster happy hour with good cocktails. Arrived at Bar Belly 15 minutes before happy hour was over. We were seated, had drinks -- get the Pineapple Express, and placed our order before happy hour was over. The brussel sprouts were delicious, I need to visit again for another swing at the macaroni and cheese, and the spicy shrimp was (insert fire emoji).
They serve $1 East Coast oysters for happy hour everyday!!! Drinks were good. Fries were seasoned well. Interesting vibes too.
Great spot for drinks and live music. The music changes daily. They feature an oyster happy hour and usually serve up Barcats. Plymouth is the gin thats featured here.8 YEARS LATER: Still a gem of a NYC bar/restaurant. My kids have grown up with bar belly. The oyster happy hour is still going strong, and the crew that works here are absolutely great people.
Drinks were good and the ambience was cool. Oyster happy hour deal was great. The food was good but small portions and expensive. The baked paccheri was our favorite. Service was great
Imagine an intimate bar; dimly lit, ample seating, and an eclectic food menu that has everything you could want while sharing food with friends or a date. Well, that’s what bar belly is like and I’m so happy I ended up checking this spot out recently. My friend and I decided to grab drinks here on a weekday. We didn’t have a reservation and most definitely did not need one. Once we arrived we opted to sit at the bar. We had come during happy hour and were excited to have the opportunity to try some dishes and drinks out. Noted with beer but also tried the Casanova cocktail which tasted more like a vodka based summer drink. When it came time to food we dined on their tater tots and prosciutto pizza. All great for sharing! I’d totally recommend this for a more intimate occasion if you do end up visiting.
What a gem of a bar. From their signature cocktails, to sprit free drinks, this is definitely a great spot! The music can get very loud, but that doesnt stop the bartenders from giving you all their attention and creating delicious drinks. The bar is definitely on our radar whenever well be back in the city.5/5 service5/5 drinks (cocktail menu is great!)4/5 atmosphere, its a small space with large speakers and it gets uncomfortable after a short while due to the volume.
Really great happy hour! Loved the Casanova drink.Great service from staff especially Gabrielle!
Great cocktails and good vibes. It’s def worth a visit. Cheers
BEST!!!! BAR!!!! IN THE CITY!!!! Been coming here regularly for 3-4 years. To start, the service is purely unmatched. The team will make you feel right at home - the biggest standout of all is the service. The menu though??? Something for everyone, from the most chill beer drinker to the fanciest of cocktail lovers. And of course the vibe??? Amazing variety - some nights dance party, some nights live jazz, some nights ultra chill. Open late but also a great time when you come early. Did I say best bar in NYC?? Good, cause I meant it and it’ll never change!!! BAR BELLY FOREVER
Such a perfect spot for happy hour!! We enjoyed $1 oysters and a few rounds of a $6 lager and the belly tots. Sit at the bar and make conversation with the friendliest bartender ever, Alexandra :)
Awesome atmosphere and excellent service. Drinks are not what they aspire to be. Very good drinks but premixed and not at craft cocktail level. I like the vibe. Hopefully, the food and cocktails catch up to the overall ambience. Will go back again.
Had been meaning to go and finally made it to Bar Belly and it Didn’t Disappoint! Loved the oysters! We never had the ones they were serving before but they were meaty and you could taste the sea. It kind of reminded me of a Kumamoto. The staff was very attentive and I heard the cocktails were good but I was drinking a cold white wine. We are going back tonight.
Im fearful that this place is not a hidden gem anymore, but thats just me being selfish. Bar Belly is like the best local bar you wish existed in every neighborhood. The staff are super laid back but experts at their craft.Kiwi is the man and was super hospitable with us. Best Queens Park Swizzle Ive had in a very long time.Between the drinks, food, and vibe Bar Belly has hit a home run.
I been here a couple of times and Cocktails are amazing. Staff is very friendly.
Happy hour was great! The spinach artichoke dip and the lamb sliders were especially great.
Thank you for the amazing customer service ( specially by Kiwi) I sat at the bar .Fab drinks and oyster happy hour .Ohhh and great playlist 🪩
Well crafted drinks, with a side of truffle Parmesan popcorn that’s delicious! Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. The space was easy going and approachable and had great music and ambience. I’d recommend for romantic date night and or sultry night with the ladies!
What a great place to spend girls time the cocktails are awesome the popcorn with parmesan and truffle is delicious the oyster are great with the ginger sauce the platter of cheese and ham really generous our waitress was always ready for us atmosphere super coolWe went once and came back
Great little bar with friendly service, funky vibe, great oysters and luscious cocktails. We had a blast.
Beautiful bar with pretty lights. Staff were polite and warm. Lamb sliders tasted so fine , perfectly seasoned and they were melting in mouth 10/10. Cavatelli pasta was fresh and flavourful 10/10. Truffle popcorn was tasty. Thankyou for delicious food ❤️🌹. Definitely coming back 💯 .
Walked in at 4:50pm (open at 5pm) and instead of being greeted by a “We aren’t open yet” everyone was so nice and helpful. Seated immediately and really nice drinks and food. Great attentive staff and great music! Highly recommend!
The best place for Happy Hour oysters 💗
Came in on a Sunday for happy hour. The atmosphere was nice. The parmesan popcorn we had was stale. The service replaced it with fresh popcorn. I was disappointed with the happy hour. It was $13 a cocktail (regularly $18). The glass was very small. It did not feel worth my money.
Happy hour $1 Oysters and $10 wine glasses
Went here for happy hour with my cousin. Great drinks, deviled eggs, fries and $1 oysters. Bartenders were super friendly and welcoming. Ill definitely be coming back!
This spot is so cool! There’s nothing super extraordinary about it but the ambiance and drinks were great. Upon walking in the host had a very laidback but welcoming vibe and we were seated behind the bar where the space was romantic and you could people watch through the window as well as they had hooks available for coats/bags. We ordered the Mucha Chicha, La Lupe and Cab Sauv which were tasty. Oh and they give a cute bowl of seasoned popcorn which was a fun touch! The music was good, bathrooms were clean. I’d definitely come back!
Highly recommend it. Had a cocktail, artichoke dip and oysters in early evening. Friendly bartender and staffs will welcome you immediately.
Winnie was so genuine and attentive. She made our entire experience! The drinks are great on their own, the bar is great on its own, but Winnie made this experience a 10/10. I also don’t know the names of any busser or runner but they were all so cute and kind and extremely helpful! A well oiled machine with Winnie and everyone else.
Rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Bar Belly was awful. My friends and I waited over half an hour for drinks that never arrived, while everyone around us was being served. When I approached our waitress to close out, she realized she had forgotten to put our order in.To make matters worse, she still charged me for two drinks that we never received. The absolute low point was when she tried to act like she had already returned my credit card—even though it was still in her hand. I had to ask her to read the name on the card to prove it was mine and show my ID to confirm. What should have been a fun night out turned into a frustrating and stressful ordeal. With so many great spots in the area, I won’t be giving Bar Belly another chance.
The peso pluma & popcorn had me eager to come back to this place but when we recently came back, the person who attended us did not give us popcorn.Everyone who kept coming in and being attended was being given. We even saw a whole tray of them being brought out.Consistency is keyBetter luck next time maybe?
My friend invited me to catch up at this cute little bar. I forgot I had been there before and had a horrible experience with the staff and though alright, we are already here let’s give it another shot. The happy hour oysters were horrifying, they served our happy hour frozen drinks in little coup glasses and my buddy who’s sober payed 12 for a virgin lemonade he couldn’t drink. We all agreed to let it go but now that I’ve walked away I just have to say there’s Something wrong with place. Cute please, the management is so confused. I wish I had pictures of the Ousters geezes I thought they were trying to poison us lol.Two thumbs down for this cute little place!
We go for the happy hour and always get oysters. There’s usually a good jazz musician which makes for a fun atmosphere. Cute, cozy, very good service, waitresses are always welcoming and down-to-earth.
This oyster and cocktail spot never disappoints.Great low key spot for after work oysters and cocktails(They used to have church key beer:-() The staff is friendly and attentive. They have a really good happy hour for oysters. The space is low key and intimate a great place for a date. The crowd is defiantly young professional/socialite not bad on the eyes. They had live Bossa Nova for a while on Wed I hope they bring it back.-- Great date spot-- Good cocktails-- Nice crowdOnly real downside is getting friends to go to that part of crown.
This is one of my personal favorite bars in the lower east side. It is so warm and cozy. Theres live music and the DJ is awesome! The drinks are good. They have Good wine. Good crowd. Awesome happy hour. The waiters and bar tenders are very attentive. Even when the place got very busy. It can get very packed in there on fridays and weekends. The oysters and the Brussels sprouts were our favorite food on the menu. Definitely check it out if you are near this area. Very low key but you will have great drinks and have fun.
We were there once for happy hour. We loved the cocktails and the oysters. The bar is beautifully decorated and their martini is delicious. One if the best happy hour offers in New York. Also, they were very nice to us.
Got mediocre service and felt looked down on from the moment we stepped up to the bouncer. Our bartender didnt ask if we were ready to order, even after making eye contact multiple times and it was clear we were ready to order our drinks. The bar wasnt even that packed. My drink was good but it was also $16. But its Manhattan, what did I expect.
Very crowded on weekends, good luck finding a seat after 8-9ish. The bartenders were very nice and served me as quickly as they were able. Hosts a young crowd most nights.
Great Oyster happy hour and cocktails, my favorite cocktail was the invisible woman. A little downfall was the outside seating, cars were backing up close to our seats while we were seating, I wish there was a barrier.
Stopped in for cocktails and oysters with friends. This may be my new go to spot for that. Oysters were great as were the cocktails. They even had a happy hour until 7. Great vibe inside. On Saturday evening they had live music. Stop in if youre in the neighborhood.
Great place for a quick drink + oysters on LES. Can’t beat their happy hour, perfect neighborhood bar.
This oyster happy hour is some of the best in the city. I always leave full and buzzed. All the staff is just so friendly. Every time I go the service is impeccable and kind.
For this kind of price segment, you would expect the drinks to be good. The 4 drinks we tried were terrible and this is not exagerated. Either way too sour or way too sweet. I switched over to cuba libre to at least match the stale, old popcorn we got served.
Love bar belly!! Drinks are consistently good and I love the popcorn they bring out.
3.5/5. pretty good oysters, addicting popcorn, tasty/balanced tuna ceviche(I needed more bread tho), a friggin awesome bite of croquettes... Some if a bit pricy for the portion but its fun to treat yourself. Saturday nights theyll herd you in at the bar and we had an issue with the host seating someone before us but they made up for it with a free drink. Cant say itll happen Everytime but I appreciate them trying to make up for itLong story short, happy hour would be a steal and getting seated indoors on a busy night would be more unpleasant than being seated outside where its a lil cold but m quiet enough
I love that place. Just go in there and youll see it . Highly recommend
Visited from out of town with some friends and had an amazing time! Great cocktails, service and vibes! There was a slight hiccup with the check but when we brought it up they were very understanding and helped us ASAP.Bar Belly has become one of my staple bars to visit whenever we go to nyc!!
Decided to pop in one late night, after partying it up till around 2, to get a few drinks. Previously this was my go to location when it was occupied by Sweet Paradise, but I will say that Leadbelly is a bit of an upgrade. There is a nice feel to the spot with the light hue decor really adding a sense of breadth even though the place is quite narrow. I really loved the copper counter and the hanging racks. It makes sitting at the bar a bit more inviting. The cocktails were pretty good as well and the offerings are unique if not inventive, with pricing rolling in at around $13 -- typical for the area. In all, I was pleased at the successor to my old favorite and I will be going back to check out the oysters.
When a place has amazing drinks AND food and a welcoming staff- dang it is nice.
A great place. Intimate, warm and friendly staff. Good specialty drinks and beers. Oyster choices from various regions if you like them. Take your date here. Live music or DJ on certain nights. Really like. On the small side but worth it. Go.. check it out. 😋
Getting kicked out an hour before closing time because crew wants to go home! Not a great nighttime spot.
Cute little happy hour bar. Delicious oysters and spinach/artichoke dip. Staff is super friendly. Would definitely visit again!
Love love love the espresso martinis 🍸 Had a waitress (Gabby????) Serving c&@t all night. Respectfully. Will be back soon :)
Fun bar! I didn’t order any drinks but my party said all drinks were good :-)Hard to get the attention of the staff / waiter but probably just because it was busy.Really good popcorn.
A very fun scene. Have some outdoor seating available in the front if looking more to chill.
Great spot for a drink, live band and extensive cocktail list.
Favorite happy hour in all of NYC. $1 Oysters, amazing cocktails, amazing and fun and kind employees, beautiful live music. - A Native New Yorker :)
I love oysters and I love drinks so this was a natural for me. A friend recommended it and it was better than I expected. Great little place tucked out of the way on Orchard. Ive never been to Fat Radish so I cant comment on that but all the drinks were top-notch. Nothing was pre-made or mixed. Everything came out quickly and exactly right. The place itself is quaint in that old-timey way. Ive seen a DJ or two come through and theres a small dance floor that people fill up to get moving late into the night. I always leave happy and well-fed.
Top notch happy hour, great cocktails.
Before last night, I didnt know much about the Leadbelly except that it was started by the people who run Fat Radish across the street. I had been to Fat Radish and had a good time, so I figured the Leadbelly would be similar. The cocktails were great (cucumber julep, tequila rose etc.), but the dinner menu was more of a health food/tapas situation. We had a slice of beet and goat cheese tartan, plus some salads (including a whole grain and nut dish that reminded everyone of savory granola). We also had an assortment of oysters, which were great. The decor of the restaurant was kind of confusing, because the name led me to expect a 40s Louisiana/Bible Belt-type feel. This was somewhat present in the distressed walls with semi-exposed brick and upright piano, but the large cactus in the corner and terrariums in the bathroom were kind of lost on me. I think I would go back to the Leadbelly for drinks, but definitely not for dinner. They werent offering anything substantial enough. Oh, and one more thing: Some of the cocktails had jalapeño in them even when it wasnt advertised on the menu. I didnt mind because I like spicy stuff, but I would think that this would be off-putting to some people.
This oyster bar is connected the kitchen across the street The Fat Radish, they literally walk hot-dishes across the street and deliver it to you. Oysters are however, opened up at the bar. Its all quit pricy. Some nights they have live jazzy/folk band, creates quite a cozy atmosphere.
Nice cocktails and bar snacks with good live music
Fun jazz & staff was ok!
$1 oyster happy hour! Oysters are very small tho and there aren’t a lot of choices on the menu
I really like the vibe and ambiance in here. The candles on the table feels cozy. The place was packed. Our waitress was warm and friendly. Ordered some drinks and food. Drinks are a bit pricey for the amount you get but they were good. Food was good too. Only problem was service was super slow. Took a really long time for our drinks and food to come and we had to ask a couple of times where’s our order.
Been here a few times so far! Always an exciting experience! Sat in the back for dinner the first time and the waitress was very friendly and attentive! We had the pork sliders and octopus with potatoes! Second time sat in the front tables for happy hour. The oysters and old fashions are discounted and very delish! My recent trip was at the bar where they always give you free truffle popcorn!! Drinks are crafted perfectly here and service is always on point! Would definitely recommend! And I myself will be returning often :) keep up the excellent work!
Stumbled across Belly Bar and it was great! The most delicious cocktails, reasonably priced and incredibly friendly staff. We were on the waitlist for Attaboy but decided to forgo our call with Belly Bar!
Loved this swanky little bar in the Lower East Side. The ambiance is so romantic and cool. I loved the happy hour menu and tried several items they were all wonderful especially the mule. The oysters were presented in the cutest way ever and there house popcorn is tasty. We really enjoyed our experience here and would go back.
Although prices are a little steep, the ambiance and staff make up for it. They very kindly accommodated our very large (16-person) group outdoors even though the venue is clearly meant for smaller groups.
Super nice staff (I think our servers name was Rebecca, blonde, super cool girl), the place is lovely and the vibe is super welcoming!
Gréât place to get hors d’ovres! super yummy and fast service. great vibe and great energy.
A fantastic bar hidden in the depths of LES. It has an ambiance that urges you and your date to open up to each other with perfect blend of candle light and soothing music in the background. Cocktails were very good and a good place to try some new ones!
Happy hours oysters was okay size, you might need a dozen for each person, and white wine was perfect combos.
Had a pandan frozen cocktail and oysters for happy hour. Chefs accidentally forgot one oyster so they gave us two in a little plate lol. Service was great, everyone was friendly and nice, orderly and quick, prices very good for area, and free table popcorn. Genesis was a great server thank you! Will be coming back.
Amazing place with great environment. Our server was super nice and I will be coming back soon. I wish I remember the girls name but she went above and beyond taking care of us
Seating was immediate.....we dined outside was offered a blanket.....Our waitress was the sweetest....We was on timed scheduled she got us in and out with minutes to spare. Everything was great.
Its a good place if you look fancy and you look like you have a lot of money to spend. We were there and it felt like we were being neglected because I ordered a simple beer and my girlfriend a cocktail. The only time they checked up on us was when my girlfriend had finished her cocktail and it felt like they expected her to order an other one. Disregarding me or my simple beer.Besides the service the atmosphere was good, nice and friendly. I didnt get a feeling that we werent welcome at anytime we were there. The place looks very nice and modern but still has that old school rustig vibe to it.Its a nice place to check out and see if its something for you, otherwise one drink will be enough and there are plenty of other places around.
The Leadbelly is the new too-cool place to be from The Fat Radish team. Whats that bustling across the street? The Fat Radish! Though I havent been to the latter, I hear theres food there--that wasnt quite the case at dear Leadbelly. But, first, The Scene. Imagine: rec room circa 1960s—distressed stucco, found wood, replete with upright piano, turntable and succulents. Most notable decoration? The crowd—all lush lipped, plaid clad, and felt-fedora lidded. Most questionable? Driftwood as toilet paper holder—splinters? (My party openly pondered if the herbs in our snapper tartare had been clipped from the terrariums in the bathroom.)The Food: What I hope is simply the “early” menu was not much of one—4 items, plus oysters. The beet tartan was good, but beets+chevre does not a rocket scientist make. The snapper tartare was reminiscent of tabbouleh—dry and overly herbaceous, I passed after a bite—and the dukkha (apparently a mixture of herbs, nuts and spices) was, well, a mixture of herbs, nuts and spices. I felt it would go far better with yogurt and honey in the a.m. with a cup o joe than naan in the p.m. with a negroni, but I’m particular. The kale salad was so artfully deconstructed, it was more train wreck; an explosion of pine nuts! Nothing was bad, its just that nothing was very good. It was too...healthy--for this type of establishment. Where are the devils on horseback and the duck-fat fries? The drinks were great, inventive but classic, though suffered a bit of an identity crisis. To wit: a Dirty Lemonade with jalapeno lacked heat, while a Tequila Rose, with no mention of spice in the recipe, was openly garnished with, yes, a jalapeno. The Spicy Pineapple was to a tee. No complaints from my crowd. So yes, Drinks! And, yes, Oysters! We tried three. The West Coast Kumamotos were tops--impish, craggy and briny--but equal love was professed for their Eastern brethren. The service was, for lack of a better word, slow. Very slow. Someone wondered whether the waitstaff was pulling doubles at the Radish across the street. But servers were amiable and responsive when around. And cute. Theyve got to be cute.I actually would go back to Leadbelly, with the gorgeous crowd, great drinks, and the oysters. Id even recommend it. But Id eat beforehand.
$1 oysters for happy hour was great! Only east coast when I went — that’s why this is 4 stars.
Not as good as it used to be (I hear) but another solid environment to bring a date. Decent beer & cocktail selection. Unfortunately there was no live music.
One of my all time favorite happy hour/ cocktail spots. Very cozy and intimate. Good for dates as well.
Great ambience and interesting cocktail menu!
Loved it!! When I came they had live music, which is always amazing. The staff was super attentive and there was fast service. Would come back here again :)
A group of 5 of us went for after dinner cocktails last night. cocktails were pretty solid and prices are what youd expect for an les place. ive always wanted to try and get there for their oyster happy hour so next time ill try and swing by. music was good too and I could see that they were setting up for a DJ. all in all a solid spot
I got espresso martinis here and they gave me burnt coffee grounds in a cup…it was like drinking silt and it made me and my friends violently ill - $60 for 3 absolutely trash drinks that we all immediately threw up.
Loved everything about this place, the music, the drinks, the staff, everything! Didn’t get there on time for the live band, but the DJ was really good! Definitely coming back!
Guys. Come on, what is there not to like about this place? Happy Hour 1$ oysters and great drinks! Bartenders were certainly polite, definitely get there during the early hours. Love it here !
Alana is just amazing!
Great bar tenders and delicious cocktails. The atmosphere was lively and there was tasteful live music while we were there.
I really enjoyed my time there for Happy Hour. Considering the circumstances, COVID and Happy Hour, I still had pretty good service. The oysters were awesome and the Moscow Mules were delicious. All things considered, I had a great time with a friend at Bar Belly! The popcorn was a fun addition instead of chips.
Has quirky comfortable feel.Terrific bartender Jin was working while I was there and dined on some lovely oysters and assorted small plates.Has a bit of a European feel.Look forward to going there again
Good food for a bar. Really great ambiance and service. Live music too!
Great cocktails - an excellent place to sit at the bar
Ended up in here randomly. Had great drinks and really good Impossible sliders. Such a basic thing but legit got me into impossible burgers.
The service here was horrible. We waited for so long just for our drinks.
$1 Oyster Happy Hour with cocktails for the win
They wouldnt allow me to make reservations. I got there shortly after they opened and the line was down the street. We left! Dont waste your time.
This place is the best. Everytime Im there i leave feeling pretty darn happy... and its not just cause of the amazing cocktails.
Wandered in here on a Friday night and found a happy deal for gin martinis and oysters! And then a cello/bassinet/some other wind instrument trio dropped some ambience. Definitely coming back!
Drinks are very good. Nice music and staff was kind
We were a bunch of people who went there on a Friday night. Good ambience and drinks. Music was good too!
Haven’t been here late night but the happy hour 10/10. Live jazz combos too
Great service, amazing drinks and good food. Come for a good deal.
I went very early so it was pretty quiet which meant no real atmosphere but it also meant that the staff were attentive and they even made me something off menu that they thought I would like...and I did!
Open and feels like pre-COVID. They are adhering to the covid protocols. I like the drinks off happy hour more but the happy hour oysters are the real pull here. I would recommend going if youre an oyster fan. The fries are okay and the service is difficult if youre in the back. I actually had to get up and walk up to a server to order twice, once for me and once when a friend joined a bit late, which was rather annoying because they were taking orders from people around us but not our table. It felt like we were forgotten multiple times.
Great cocktails but didnt like the atmosphere. Too loud.
Enjoyed the La Lupe, had a nice lil heat kick to it. Was a little disappointed with Dead Witch, their take on espresso martini…it tasted a little bit watered down. Sat outside, but the atmosphere inside seemed really nice
Nice ambiance, drinks we’re good but expensive (18$ for a cocktail)
Amazing place with amazing people. Definitely for all recommendations!
It was a super busy Saturday night, so I was pleased that the staff was very attentive and the drinks were so good! The music selection was also very fun. Ill absolutely be back. Special shout out to lovely Genesis at the bar, she was amazing!
Made my belly hurt. I don’t have a sensitive stomach. I’ve rated Guinea pig before in Peru and this was WORSE.
We went for a happy hour at 6pm. However, cocktails were $14 each. We even pay $18 per some of the cocktails. Bar was pretty outdated. Some huge insects were walking on the walls. We wont return back!
Loved stopping into this little bar after an afternoon walking around Chinatown. Interesting cocktails, happy hour specials, and oysters! Beautiful bar, enjoyable music, and friendly staff.
A little cocktail bar on the LES that is a darling of NYC Tiktok at the moment. Crowd is mostly young or neighborhood types. We had high expectations with such good reviews, but we found the experience just ok. We loved our drinks and HH is on point. Food was just ok imo, but points for having all the NYC appetizer favorites in one place (oysters, shishito peppers, meat and cheese plate, deviled eggs, etc).Things fell apart for us because we sat outside. Tbh it is not a nice atmosphere (no shade, uncomfy sidewalk seating) and service to outside tables was friendly but very spotty. People were getting up to chase down servers. Staff was doing their best but seemed overwhelmed for sure.Overall I didn’t really get the hype but it is a cute spot where you can probably find something to please everyone. I would give them another chance sitting inside.
Hands down my favorite cocktail bar. Whoever is coming up with the drinks is a genius. So many times you go to cocktail bars and nothing is original or interesting or the prices are insane. At Bar Belly, every cocktail is incredible and the flavors are amazing. Their happy hour is great as well, with a few of their signature cocktails being offered for $8 instead of $15. Their cocktails change seasonally and as of this review they just rolled out the fall cocktails. My friends and I are very excited for the new menu. My favorite drink is the simple Rick (I think thats what its called)... I dont know what anything is thats int he drink but it is one of the most flavourful and interesting things Ive ever tasted. Wonder Woman is a close second: I would never have a thought a drink with soy milk in it would be any good. I recommend this place to everyone. Besides their genius cocktails they also have great live music, the ambience is charming and eclectic, the service is on point, and the food is delicious. But honestly, the drinks are so good, you could serve them to me in a paper cup in condemned fast food building and I would still give them 5 stars.
Cool place, like the downstairs. Drinks and server where good. Hostess hovered and kinda passed her stresses onto us.
What an AWESOME place to have some GREAT appetizers and cocktails!!! Staff is AMAZING! Salute from ARIZONA!
Excellent oysters during happy hours and very yummy cocktails. highly recommend the Pineapple Express and absolutely obsessed with the free popcorn that they provide
Service wasn’t the best but the drinks were good and the food was too. Vibes are immaculate.
Best vibes, best employees! always a fun crowd
Good spot to hang with friends and enjoy cocktails. Place transforms into a night club after 10pm.
Good happy hour
Finger foods
One of my favorite spots for amazing cocktails
A double Tequilla soda will run you $35 without tips just FYI…
Made a Resy reservation on Christmas where it said they were open. Came all the way here and they were closed.
Every time I go here for their happy hour, I am never disappointed. Even when I get there a bit late and have to wait, the staff is just so accommodating and mindful. Oysters are fresh and just $1 during happy hour. I always get 3 dozen along with their deviled eggs for starters. The belly fries for $6 were great too. The tots are good too. Also love the bartender and the drinks. Just a great time every time!
Great bar and nice atmosphere. Original cocktails.
Love they place, came there first time the drinks and no meat burgers were delicious... Very cozy atmosphere there
Atmosphere was a vibe. A little loud but over all vibey. $68 (pretip) for a round of beer (3ppl) and tater tots was not a vibe at all. Don’t let the $20-$30 a person fool you.
Great spot for drinks, no matter the time
I went a Sunday night just from drinks and the atmosphere was great.
Waiter was simply amazing. Good food, and solid cocktails. Quite expensive though.
Nice little neighborhood bar. Staff was really nice. Was a great place to meet our friends and have some drinks while we caught up.
Fun, kitch cocktail bar. Great drinks, friendly staff, late night dancing.
The drinks, even if they were good, were pretty expensive. What really made this a 5-star experience was the friendly staff and service. We were welcomed with a smile despite the busy halloweekend and the bouncer was super nice as we left and gave us some nice recommendations for other spots to visit.
Very european bar very good music (except when its too rock...) cool crowd ! Friday noght favorite
Good atmosphere, tasty cocktails, reasonably priced.
Fun place for a drink or a few. Lively people!
Its a really cute little casual bar that is narrow. great DJ on Sat night spinning good mix of hip pop, pop music. drinks were delicious and friendly people
In the belly of a beast of a bar! What a fab time to unwind in this downtown swank lounge. Try the tap water, its to die for..No but rlly its INFUSED 😵😵😵
One of our favorite neighborhood spots. Great happy hour with dollar oysters. Can’t say enough about the wait staff and bartenders some of the best in the city.
Good oysters and ambiance plus pleasant service
Love Bar Belly! High energy, cute, great service. Always so fun.
Great $1 oysters, personable staff making inovative cocktails.
Came for happy hour. $1 oysters!
Cool place and good music. Tables are too small and next to each other.
Oyster happy hour. Got there a hair before 7pm and they served us still. Super friendly staff and food came out fast. Just wish they had air conditioning.
Love this place! V friendly staff and fun drinks! Not the best music unless you love ABBA i guess they like to cater to the older crowd they get that usually just stands not a lot of dancing. It’s a good pre spot for sure
Great little happy hour place for $1 oysters and a drink while waiting for the fam to finish their cruise around Manhattan.
A good one to race to after work, for a good seat at the bar and some great oysters at happy hour.
Really cozy atmosphere and served great drinks at a decent price
A throwback LES bar. Very cool.
Nice place for a date. Cozy. Oysters. Happy hour.
Great atmosphere. Great drinks. That popcorn seasoning was meh but at least it was free haha
Great place , very neighborhood oriented..jazz wow so cool..fun atmosphere
Great cocktails and service. Very cute spot
Fun place on the LES! Always packed and good for a fun drunken time. Drinks could be better but I don’t think that’s the focus.
Bartenders made me drinks that were too delicious. Be careful.
Was not especially impressed by any of the cocktails. Service was great and friendly. For food, we only tried out the oysters, which were made AMAZING by the delicious sauces that accompanied them.
Came here for the happy hour. Oysters were great, drinks were as well. Live music upped the ante. Inviting, friendly atmosphere. Definitely added to the list, will be back.
Place was cool. Good vibes, great drinks.
I stopped here after work last week to waste some time before heading to dinner in downtown BK. Glad I came by! Its a really nice place inside with creative drinks. Good option if youre in the area and are looking for a place to go. I hope to visit again one day for another drink and some food too.
Amazing popcorn! Charcuteire was delicious oysters wonderful!
I’ve been to Bar Belly countless times and it never lets me down.Fresh oysters, good drinks and an overall cool atmosphere. What more could you want?
Amazing vibe, good music, great martini. Thank you!
Awesome vibe!
Staff doesn’t know how to seat. Was told to wait for a table, waited an hour at the bar drinking. People come off the street and take tables, the staff doesn’t stop them, but tells me to wait because they have “reservations.” Amateur b tier spot. The bartenders are cool, host is clueless and confrontational
Bar tender was super cool, drinks tasted good but overall super crowded and too expensive for me
An incredible happy hour with the best dollar oysters Ive ever had. Industry friendly, talented folks, fair prices. I try and drop by whenever Im in the area.
Food was fine. But the service was terrible.
Attended private tasting here and the vibe was chill. Good space within the venue to chill at the bar but there were also smaller tables to sit. Close proximity to other local restaurants and attractions in the areas. Would go again.
