I had heard about this place for a while, and last night, my girlfriend and I finally decided to check it out. As we walked by, we asked about a seat, and the kind doorman informed us there would be a 15-minute wait. He took my phone number and called me as soon as the seats were available—a professional and organized touch that I really appreciated.Once inside, both of us were pleasantly surprised by how charming the space was. The bartender was incredibly professional and creative. There’s no set menu, so we simply described what we were in the mood for, and they crafted two personalized cocktails that were spot-on, 10/10 to our taste. This place truly stands out for its attention to detail, cool atmosphere, and exceptional customer experience.

Small cozy speakeasy style bar behind a nondescript door on the street - Attaboy doesnt have a drink menu so it completely relies on the creativity and talent of its bartenders and mixologists - who do not disappoint with their grasp of flavours and textures and cocktails.Loved the house music and the overall vibe of the place.

I really wanted to love Attaboy after hearing so much about it, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. The three-hour wait was grueling, especially without any kind of communication or updates while waiting outside. Once inside, the vibe was cool, but the experience felt rushed—like they were more focused on turning tables than creating a memorable evening. The drinks, which are supposed to be their main draw, were hit-or-miss for me. I tried a whiskey-based cocktail, and it was overly sweet with no balance. For a place that prides itself on bespoke cocktails, I expected something more complex and refined. My partner had a gin-based drink that was decent, but overall, it didn’t justify the wait or the price.I wanted this to be a special night out, but honestly, it felt more like a chore. There are plenty of other speakeasies in NYC with great drinks and a friendlier, more accommodating vibe. Save your time and explore those instead.

Awesome speakeasy style cocktail bar in NYC. The drinks and experience never disappoint when youre at Attaboy. This was our first trip to the NYC location, had visited Nashville a few years back and wanted to try the original.Youll need to get there early if you want to get in as theres only 25 seats inside. We got there when they opened and still waited 2.5hrs to get in. The doorman suggested getting there at least an hour and a half before they open for a chance to get in right away.Once inside the vibe is chill with great music and low light ambiance. The bartenders really take the time to listen to what you like and will craft you an out of this world cocktail.Definitely recommend checking it out if youre into great cocktails. Its worth the wait.

Had a great experience at Attaboy. I am a cocktail nerd, but my wife is not. The served each of us great cocktails that fit our tastes.I was a little bit worried about the no reservations thing. We waited a little bit next door, but the cocktails there were good as well. The hostess and bartenders were great very personable and welcoming to us out of towners.I had high hopes and worried that this wouldn’t live up to my expectations, but it did. I will be back. I had a great time.

Very cool experience - the concept is no menu, bespoke cocktails. Figure out what mood you’re in, what spirits you like, how you want it served (on the rocks, up, etc.) and they’ll create a cocktail for you and tell you what it is.Small place though, maybe 3 booths and then bar seating. Probably 25-30 people total. Recommend getting here early, right when they open, especially if you’re a group of more than 2. Speak easy vibes. You just kinda stand and wait outside until someone comes out to get you haha. No need to knock. This was a cool spot.Only downside - no menu means no prices. Cocktails came out to be $28 each after tax and tip which is…steep to say the least. Worth it for a one night experience though.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I’ve never experienced such blatant disrespect as I did at Attaboy. I was so excited to try this place. First, you have to stand at a door with no buzzer or signage—just a camera. We stood there for 10 minutes with no response. When I finally knocked on the door, a very rude and pretentious man came out, looked at us like we were inconveniencing him, said ”umm HAVE A GOOD DAY!” and then slammed the door in our face.No attempt to communicate, no courtesy, nothing. Just pure arrogance. It’s clear that this place has no regard for customer service or basic human decency. If this is how they treat potential patrons, I can’t imagine how they handle people inside. The vibe is pretentious, and the staff act like they’re doing you a favor just by acknowledging your existence.Save yourself the humiliation and go somewhere that actually values its guests. Attaboy is all hype and zero hospitality.

After a two-hour wait from 10-12, we began with our first cocktail: a single malt with hints of fruitiness and citrus, aiming for complexity. I’d rate it a 7/10. The alcohol flavor dominated the first sip, with only a faint fruit taste and lacking the anticipated complexity. The second cocktail, a Four Roses Yellow Label whiskey, had a subtle smoky profile paired with the classic sweetness of Four Roses. I’d give it an 8/10. I imagined a hint of cigar smoke on top, which would have elevated the experience. Our final drink was an herbaceous, low-alcohol cocktail—a perfect finish. This was a beautiful blend, earning a 10/10. The first sip offered a refreshing flavor that quickly blossomed into layers of herbal aroma. As the enzymes dissolved the alcohol molecules, a subtle alcohol note emerged, enhancing the drink’s overall harmony.Highly recommend the long-haired gentleman as your bartender—his craftsmanship is superb.

Visiting this bar was truly a remarkable experience. Ive been to several cocktail bars all over the world, and the strategy of having no fixed menu doesnt always work out. This is not the case with Attaboy: the staff were excellent at providing recommendations, cocktails were perfectly balanced, and the music was just at the right volume. I am a big fan of spirit-forward, bitter drinks and I had three of them! Each one better than the last. Definitely on my top 5 in NYC.

A wonderful cocktail experience. The lack of a printed menu and the tailoring of each round to your tastes is one of the best innovations in cocktails. I don’t recommend this place. The front desk staff should be replaced immediately! They make you wait outside with no clear idea of how long it will take. Try The Back Room next door or Tiga in the same block for a much better experience!

Deducted one star due to the fact that they rush you out. Otherwise, very cool concept and delicious drinks. They ask what flavors and spirits you typically like and then create a drink based on what they have seasonally and it somehow always turns out great! I’d only suggest they use less ice in some of the cocktails they make. Friends and I came and we each loved our drinks flavors. The venue is cozy and intimate but some might consider it too small to enjoy. The booths are nice and it’s low lighting. They don’t allow flash photography to maintain the low lit ambiance. Each drink was $22

Like many have said, the host is an extremely rude man on a power trip. Berated us for standing on a public street while we were trying to navigate to another place as if he had authority over the entire block. He did not once explain to us why they had this policy. From reading other reviews though, it seems very silly for a bar on the lower east side to have neighbors who are annoyed with patrons on the block on a Friday night. Why put a bar there? The whole experience left a bad taste.

Voted best bar in North America. Expect queues or wait lists to get in as its a small and popular spot, but its worth a visit. This review is long overdue but now that I am back home in DC I must say the only reason I would return to Nashville would be to visit my guys at Attaboy’s. From my first experience to my final one during my work trip, Greg, Jesse, Matty and JAKE 🫶🏾 have taken THE BEST care of me. They make excellent beverages and always have a wonderful attitude despite being busy or unruly guests. The atmosphere is low candle light and usually a very good playlist. No standing room - which I love - and a monitored front door (yes, they can see you standing outside, just be patient!) by great support staff. Love you boys, keep my seat warm until I get back!

I’m conflicted with this place. I have respect for the owner, Sam Ross as a bartender. I love the history of this place and the reputation that this place exudes, but this is the time where the logistics/circumstances actually detracted from the overall experience.Granted, it’s a Saturday night - busy as hell! I knew that and was willing to wait on the waiting list, which ended up being 2 hours (6:40 - 8:40) approximately. Just stayed nearby the area and eagerly waited for a call. Once we got the call, we were told that we would stand in the hallway until a spot at the bar opens up. At this point we felt defeated, but whatever, we made it.The bartender asked us about our preferences and made a Gentleman’s Buck and Troublemaker. Both very on point with the flavors I described and both well made. I do applaud the bartender on the execution. We both enjoyed the drinks for about 1/3 of the Collins glass. The issue is that while drinking a cocktail, we were still standing in the middle of a hallway. Music and sounds were loud. People walking back and forth. At one point, my garnish fell and I was focused on when to bend over to pick it up and debated whether to leave it because people were constantly walking back and forth, which didn’t give me the pocket of time to actually pick it up (I managed and threw it away). So, for me, cocktails are meant to be enjoyed at a good pace and with company in a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere would be nice if it wasn’t so packed and the company would be nice if I could actual have a conversation face to face with the person I was with. Unfortunately, being in the hallway didn’t afford that luxury. In the end, I rushed to finished the drink, paid, and left.Glad I got the experience to support a mixologist that I look up to, but not an experience I would do again.

Maybe not for me especially for the wait but probably better for others who knows what they like and wants to customize their drinks.

9/28/24 - We arrived around 5:45 PM, waited in line in the rain and joined the waitlist around 6:00 PM. While we received a confirmation text that we were on the waitlist, we never got a follow-up to communicating we were off the waitlist even as I write this review 24 hours later. This lack of communication and mismanagement is disappointing. For a place like Attaboy with a no-reservation policy, youd expect a smoother and more efficient process.Interestingly, we ran into the couple ahead of us in line, who did manage to get in. However, their feedback wasnt positive, so it seems the waitlist process isnt a complete sham, just faulty.Having visited twice before, I found the drinks good, but not exceptional enough to justify the long waits or the air of pretentiousness.

Love the concept of this place and can truly understand why its #22 in the world (should be higher in my opinion) your bartender basically asks what kind of spirits you enjoy and flavors and they craft you a unique drink based on your preferences. And they really came through on every drink, drinks/flavors I wouldnt expect, but punchy and awesome.I love that it is a small intimate spot, with a true speakeasy vibe because of no outside labeling. The one part of the experience that was unfortunate was how to get in. Basically, you wait in a line outside to then get your name/number on a list and you then get called when its your turn. We arrived around 930ish it took us almost 30-40 mins just to be asked our name and number (this could have been easily avoided if the guy running the line just took everyones number in line). We never got called. Luckily we were waiting across the street at another bar and when they closed at 1230 we were like hmm we should just check before going home our wait status. Turns out the guy was just letting people in off the line that didnt have to wait the 2-3 hours like we did. It was really sketchy and I wasnt a fan of that. Also unless youre coming right at opening, good luck coming in here with more than 2 people. They really need to fix their system for admittance. Either require everyone wait in line or something, because clearly it turned sort of arbitrary.

I want to be clear, no one who waited on me or at any point interacted with me at Attaboy was anything but cordial. It still remains one of my more disappointing experiences in New York and it definitely wasnt worth the time which I hate to say. But it boils down to one major problem- The menu. The lack of a menu.I understand not having a menu. I dont understand not having suggestions. Things youre fond of. Literally. Anything. I stood in line, put my name on the list, went to double chicken please got in had a drink had something to eat had another drink, came back... Waited some more... And then finally got in just to be stared at expectantly by a polite but indescribably unhelpful man. I came because you theoretically make the best cocktails in the country. I like damn near everything, my home bar has a wide array of spirits and what I dont like is a far shorter list. I Do Not Know what to ask you for, there are too many options, you have too many bottles Ive never seen before, too many bitters and syrups and herbs for me to begin to guess. And he waited until I finally named a handful of examples and the incredibly broad category of not too sweet and handed me a drink with the first two possible ingredients and not much else. I can make a Greyhound at home, I dont need to travel or pay that much to get one in a bar. I tried for a second drink and it was literally so uninteresting I cannot remember what was in it at all. Im... Sad more than anything. But I dont think Im coming back.

If you want to get in make sure to stand in line half an hour before open. We were the last ones let in (we started waiting ~15mins before open and got in ~45mins later) so we just took a standing till where we had a drink each. The drinks were good, sure, but you can also get more creative and more accommodating custom drinks elsewhere so I wouldn’t really say it’s worth waiting longer than you’d do for other bars.

This spot is one of the most genuine speakeasies around. While the entrance used to be a bit tricky to locate, the exceptional service and overall experience more than made up for it. There’s no cocktail menu here – they craft drinks tailored to your preferences! Each person in our group had unique tastes, and every cocktail was phenomenal. Its a little pricey, but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. We visited on a Sunday and were seated right away as a group of four, but it’s a small space, so booking ahead is probably a smart idea.

Recommended by the bartender I trust in Berlin, we went there on a Wednesday evening. And wow, what a great great bar! Inconspicuously located in a residence building, you‘ll wait in front of the door until someone from service comes out and asks for your number. You will then get a text message when there’s a seat available. Once inside we had to wait in the (tiny and narrow) “waiting area“ until we finally got a seat by the bar (which took approx. 20 minutes). We already had our first drink while we were waiting of course. They don’t have a classical drink menu here. Instead, the bartender asks you what spirit you like and what other wishes you have and then makes you a drink they think is right. It was 10/10 for all 5 drinks we had. Just amazing. Great drinks, great atmosphere! Absolute recommendation. The price was $19 for each drink which I consider fair for drinks of that quality (in Sep 2022).

If you don’t know how to read signs or text messages- steer clear!!! If you lack basic spatial reasoning skills or struggle to follow simple instructions- this is not the bar for you!! If you call bartenders mixologists- eh…it’s a tossup. If you want to enjoy some of the best cocktails you’ll ever drink, hit the buzzer and give your number. They have 20-odd seats, expect to wait. Could be half an hour, could be like 2, I think we waited about 1.5- I don’t really remember how long we waited because instead of standing outside we just ducked into one of the thirty other bars on the block until we got the call. This place isn’t trying to be exclusive or trendy, the “hidden bar” thing isn’t even gimmicky here. They’re working with the space they have and aren’t rushing people out of the door after one drink- major props.I love creative and weird cocktails but I’d rather drink out of the dish tank in a dive than visit a cocktail bar full of leather aprons, curly mustaches, and upturned noses. If you can relate- this is your spot.My partner and I have been in the industry for a while and this was hands down our favorite bar experience of all time. Incredibly knowledgeable bartenders, REAL GOOD MUSIC, and totally insane drinks- $20-30 a piece is more than reasonable considering the quality and knowing what goes into pricing cocktails (& love that management has the staff’s back with bad faith reviewers)100/10 shout out to jon and to the door guy who had to explain to someone else out front that accepting a photo of an ID for entry to a bar is, in fact, illegal- you have the patience of a saint

It’s one of those places where you take the large ice cube out of your drink and you realize u are paying 22 dollars for less than .2 fluid ounces of alcohol which would be FINE if the staff didn’t come up to you afterward and complain that your tip was too small and pretend they have rules where you have to tip 20% (they didn’t even have a menu btw so where that rule is displayed? No one knows) (and it’s your tips for the 22 dollar ice cups btw) (in a restaurant with graffiti on the bathroom mirrors and you have to squeeze passed the waiters because there’s barely enough space to walk and they think it adds to the charming speak easy vibe but it’s just uncomfortable) … one of those places u go once and realize they only welcome dumb yuppies that are easily robbed

I didn’t take any photos because it was very dark in there and didn’t want to ruin the ambiance with flash. It was really a cool experience. You come across this grey door that could easily be missed if you don’t look close enough since it is a speakeasy. I knocked on the door and this sweet Irish guy told me he would get me in soon. It is a very small space with limited seating. I came in and was only able to stand against the wall and order a drink through one of the bartenders. It’s really cool to watch them be creative because there’s no menu. You tell them what flavors, spirits and type of drinks you like and the concoct something up right there! It was honestly very impressive. I was able to move into a bar seat once more people left. I came to find out that they have a sister store in Charleston where I live and now I’ll have to go check that out!

Title: Classic Cocktails with a Creative TwistReview:I recently visited Attaboy, a hidden gem in the bustling bar scene, and it’s safe to say that this place certainly lives up to the hype. Nestled unassumingly without signage, this spot demands a keen eye or insider knowledge to be found – a characteristic that adds to its exclusive charm.Upon entry, the ambiance struck a fine balance between understated cool and warmly inviting. The dim lighting and vintage decor set the stage for an evening that promised both relaxation and sophistication. It’s the kind of place where conversations are easy to enjoy without competing with loud music or crowds, a rarity in bars these days. The standout feature of Attaboy is, without a doubt, the personalized cocktail experience. There’s no menu here; instead, the bartenders craft drinks based on your preferences. Its an engaging process that results in tailor-made concoctions, and I was impressed with the bartender’s intuitive grasp of what I would enjoy. Each cocktail I tasted was balanced, innovative, and featured top-notch ingredients.Service was on point - attentive but not overbearing, with bartenders who were as skilled in hospitality as they were in mixology. Their knowledge and passion for their craft shone through in each interaction and recommendation.Im docking a star, however, due to the wait time. Despite arriving early, I found myself standing for a while before getting a seat, as the no-reservations policy means its a bit of a gamble. Moreover, the exclusivity and personalized service come with a higher price tag, which might not be for everyones wallet. In conclusion, Attaboy is a standout establishment for those who appreciate the art of a well-crafted cocktail and prefer a quieter, more intimate bar experience. It’s a 4-star recommendation from me - a place that’s definitely worth a visit, especially for those looking to impress a date or enjoy a drink crafted just for their taste.

This place was a dud to me. There are plenty of great speakeasy’s out there, this once is pretty basic. It’s an “exclusive” bar because the venue is small and they make people wait on the wait list. But overall the experience is not spectacular. The bar tender will make a drink based off of what you like vs ordering a drink and the drinks are $22. If you like that vibe than this place is for you but for me that will be the only time me going there. Not worth the waitlist and there is nothing cool about the speakeasy.

They make you do a whole song and dance to get in. Wait at the door until they feel it’s a good time to acknowledge your presence and add you to a wait list. It’ll be a long list, so be prepared to wait. They’ll call you once it’s your turn, but how dare you miss the call. I missed it and called back 1min later and tried texting. They won’t answer, and you just lost your spot. It’s almost as if they don’t want you to come. Not sure why they don’t have the industry accepted texting system where you can just communicate with the host. After reading other reviews, I’m glad I didn’t end up going. The door man has been rude to guests numerous times in the past, and drinks are overly expensive for the service they deem acceptable. You’ll have better luck other cocktail bars in the neighborhood, of which are plentiful and would love to serve you.

Used to love this place but a recent visit really fell off. Some (not all) staff was patronizing and incredibly slow - we needed to flag them down to get attention after half an hour of waiting after being seated, and they rolled their eyes at us? Guests in the bar were taking flash photos and watching tik tok with the volume on and I would have thought they’d be the ones getting attitude from staff.Really bummed about this. Hoping it was an off day and not a ruined-by-social media situation because I wanted to throw money at them, but the atmosphere (pretty mid, repetitive music) and service spoiled the mood to stick around.

This is the type of place you tip 10% and don’t feel bad.Pros: We got carded and we’re in our late 20s so I take that as a complement (no other party in line did)Cons:They only had one seat available so one of us had to stand. I had no issue with this and let my partner sit. 5 minutes later the middle age doorman, who looked like the type of person who drinks Budweiser because he likes the taste, came over and said that someone else was coming and needed the stool so we both had to stand at the edge of the bar. Two people near to us left so I asked if we could sit there instead but he said others were in front of us. The last time I felt this embarrassed was high school prom; and even the drinks back then tasted better. Everything tastes like the cocktails from an Applebees.Don’t fall for the long lines and hype, this place ain’t it.

In the meantime we got other food and drinks but the miscommunication and the wait time was truly intolerable and unprofessional. I didn’t appreciate how selective they were with who they allow in the bar, there was no ordered line and it seemed like the host was just picking the more older/white/affluent guests which is problematic to say the least.Nonetheless, we decided to stop by for the third time to see if we could get a seat and we were finally blessed and tried two rounds of cocktails. There’s no menu but trust the mixologists know what they are doing! Amazing cocktails, but not worth that wait time.

Its a shame there isnt a no star button, The hostess and the front was not only nasty, but used discriminating words towards me and my party. We were first on the list. When arriving at the front with a party of 3, she told us she cant accommodate us. Almost exactly in the same breath, she let 3 separate couples in, 1 of which had no reservation. We were then told to find a place on the street nowhere by the door, for fear of cops being called. There was a whole crowd in front, mind you. We were singled out. After 3 separate entries by patrons, she once again told us to to get off the premises. I was born and raised in this city. Ive been to dozens of places that were hard to get in, but never had a problem. This hostess takes the cake. I once again asked her what was the deal. She stared and said you are no longer allowed to come in. I would never want to come back here, and deal with a person like that. Not worth it. Im sure they lose a lot of business due to this Hostess.

Im a former bartender but dont drink alcohol anymore so when bartender asked me what I wanted, I said I only had 2 requirements: 1) no alcohol and 2) nothing sweet. The no alcohol thing must have completely thrown him because he made me a grapefruit cocktail that basically tasted like a shirley temple. He said he put just a touch of honey in it. Lies. Im annoyed theyve put such little thought into their non-alcoholic options, and Im genuinely offended that the bartender completely ignored my request for something that wasnt sweet. Attaboy was an overall fun and delicious experience, though my party’s expectation was that this bar would be a bit more bespoke per its reputation. We arrived promptly at 5pm and waited in line for about 15 minutes before being sat at what I personally think is the best seat in the house - the alcove area by the front window. The service was outstanding and attentive. You tell your guide what alcohol, vibe, flavor profile, etc. you’re in the mood for and they bring you their creative interpretation. We learned they actually have a menu they draw from rather than extemporaneous cocktail creation (though I imagine this does happen from time to time 🤷🏻‍♀️.) All cocktails are $22 USD.

Once inside, it is unbelievable tiny so apart from the long bar, you will lack any other place to sit comfortable. They will ask you what you usually like and will bring you sth they understand may like you. Thats risky. I assume that if they get the target, you enjoy the drink but it was not my case. Getting a spot here is tough, the first time we tried, we had to put our number down as they only call back not text but we eventually bailed. This time around we went early and were lucky enough to get a booth table near opening without waiting. The interior gives classic speakeasy vibes with dark lighting and a prominent bar wall of various bottles. Ordering here is an experience itself, instead of a menu you describe the type of drink and liquor you want and the staff does the rest. Because of this everyone in our group loved their drinks.Everything was spot on and tasted delicious. If we had more time we would have stayed longer and ordered more rounds. A must see in NYC!

I have no idea how this is voted the best speakeasy in NYC. Went on a weekday at 7pm and put my name down, the hostess didn’t know how long the wait time would be (usually they give an estimate). Anyway, 40 minutes later I get a call that there is space available so we go. The bar is tiny which explains the wait. Since we got called that there is space I assumed that they would sit us down, but no. They told us to stand by the wall, so every few minutes either the staff would pass or guests going to the bathroom (and the space is tiny so all this time you would have to squeeze so the other person can pass). We thought it’s just a temporary wait until they clear out the spots, but no. We spent a good 45 minutes standing by the wall, coat in one hand and drink in another (since there was no place to put our drinks). So our hand went numb from the cold glass and mind you this is winter time in NYC. We were halfway through our drinks when they moved us to the bar still standing space where we were standing for another 40 minutes before they finally sat us down (by the time we sat down we had finished our drinks). There is no menu and when you ask for the bill they give you a little piece of paper. Even though the cocktail was delicious I do not think it was worth 23$ especially since I had to drink it standing and crammed next to a wall.

Absolutely worth it for a special occasion or infrequent visit just because. Sit at the bar if you can, and get a lesson in masterful mixology. I ordered something with pisco, berries, and and egg white. He turned around with a Rose Pisco, with strawberries, lemon, and some other fancy stuff I dont remember. Ive been trying to come here for years. And sadly, I must say it didnt meet the hype for me. And the reason its so hard to get in is because the whole place actually consists of a tiny hallway where only about a dozen or so people can fit at any given time. So thats why its hard to get into... because theres literally no room. On top of that, theres no menu, so you tell the bartender what are some things you like and they surprise you with whatever they feel like. That means if youre not into ALL types of liquor but love artisanal cocktails, you might be disappointed with the surprise. I specifically mentioned no tequila, and my drink came with tequila. However, luckily, the bartenders were REALLY helpful and nice (Id say the bartenders were what made the experience) and I was finally able to get a better drink after a some embarrassing tries. Embarrassing because the entire tiny bar will pause, go quiet, and stare at what you get. Awkward. In conclusion, Id say its not worth the crazy wait to get in, unless you really want to check off a bucket list of the most popular cocktail bars in NYC. And if you do go, be EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA clear and CONCISE about what you DONT like. Dont even bother mentioning what you do like bc the bartender may forget that info, which happened to me.

The crew there was friendly and brilliant, chatted with us about flavor preference and then came pack with the perfect drink for each of us. A cocktail fans cocktail bar for sure.

Really cool speakeasy that was recently ranked #5 on the top list of bars around the world. The bar itself is really cozy with just a few booths and seating at the bar. Youd have to know the exact address to find the bar because the building is really unassuming with no signage. My group went right at opening and we had no trouble getting a booth. The ordering here is a little different because your server will come over to your table to ask about your drink preferences. There is no menu here, but they will be able to decipher your tastes by asking a few questions about your favorite flavors or liquors to use in cocktails. My group of 6 had a variety of tastes and we all were so pleased with our drinks. As a plus, they are all so strong! We followed up our cocktails with a round of beers.I will definitely return when Im next in the neighborhood!

So I came here in September of last year not knowing anything about the place. An employee of Nowon told me to check it out. Im a bartender back home so I wanted to check out some great bars, and this one was by far my favorite. Sat down and asked for a menu and they said there is none. Just tell me what you like. That was awesome. All 3 drinks I had were perfectly balanced and delicious. This place was overall inspiring to me. Thank you to Attaboy. I cant wait to come back.

Lame, small, overpriced, overhyped. Their first come first serve policy is a total joke. I was asked to stand in a cramped hallway, getting pushed around by people trying to get to the service station, all while trying to order. The drink? Watery, of course. And to add insult to injury, there were open bar seats, but they gave them to a couple instead.Cant they just be upfront and say solo patrons arent welcome? That way, people can decide if they want to shell out for an overpriced, crappy cocktail and deal with being treated like dirt. If I wanted to have a drink like a college bar, would have gone somewhere else.

I hate doing this but whomever runs the doors has no people skills, and is so incredibly rude. As someone who works in customer service industry regardless of my day I would never speak to someone so rudely. Asking a simple question made it seem like I was inconveniencing her. The cocktails were okay, but not worth the wait and hospitality

Detail oriented, yet creative cocktails served in a highly intimate setting. While other New York cocktail bars opt to cram everybody into a small space, Attaboy keeps a limit on those admitted. The result is a much more relaxing drinking experience. This also provides a better ability to open up to strangers. Even if the wait is 2 hours, I highly recommend this spot.

I have no idea what to give one star for and why this is the number one, best bar spot in North America in 2022 in the annual global awards for people in the restaurant and bar business. If you are here, then you understand what I mean. We were in a pleasant expectation, the taste of cocktails is extremely mediocre and there was no match. I reported that I would like berries in a cocktail, not a cucumber, (only if it has not become a berry during this time), to which the bartender girl with an extremely dissatisfied face tore out my glass and quickly changed it to another, but from the word it’s better not became completely. Just a glass of ice. The whole situation was extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. There was no sense of exclusivity or knowledge of mixology. This is just a scam for the price. Everything was done in haste and in order to get us out of the way as soon as possible, which we did, barely standing for 15 minutes, leaving for the next bars, which did not receive award for he first place and were in lower positions in the list, but extremely undeserved, compared to Attaboy.

Great cocktails in a speakeasy experience, but door is a pain – go early during the week, but skip the weekend. Cocktails are creative but classic – no exotic spices here, but rather quality ingredients, expertly mixed. Tight squeeze, but moody ambience. Worth getting another round, to celebrate getting in. You can watch the security camera from the bar for a voyeuristic thrill ...

The hostess let people in through “attitude” trials. As mentioned in a few other one star reviews, they have trouble letting certain people in. If you’re brown, your money is no good here. The hostess was catering to a diverse clientele. She decided that us two brown women who had been waiting three hours to get into Attaboy would not have a voice: that black woman was very wrong. I wasn’t able to show my friend from CA a good scene of NYC bars—which formerly included Attaboy.Fire the hostess, improve your service. It’s that simple, really.

The staff is quite high handed. The cocktails might be good but if you want to be treated well, I am sure there are other options in NY[Response to Owner Comment] Well, thematically if you look at all the not so good ratings its because the way patrons are treated at the door. We had a similar experience. After a 45 mins wait we werent let in because one of us didnt have a physical ID for verification. (apparently digital is not acceptable). Before I get policy thrown at my face I would like to make a few points. Firstly, we have been to at least 6+ bars during the course of this stay and every bar/restaurant in NYC were welcoming and accommodating by accepting digital docs for verification. Secondly, if you guys are such sticklers for physical IDs it would be good to let the patrons know at the time they queue up, not after 45 mins wait. (or put it on your website). and lastly, dont you reckon its high time you guys go digital as the world moves on. cheers[P.S - While we waited, there were at least 2 couples who were let in without any ID checks. Felt like we were the exception rather than the rule]

This is probably one of the best places to get a cocktail in the city. There’s no menu so the bartender comes to your table to ask what you’d like, then comes back with some fantastic drinks to match your taste. They don’t use more than 5 ingredients in their cocktails but can make drinks with complex flavors showing how good they are.

We arrived around 7:45 pm and waited in line almost 40 minutes just to put our name on the list. The man at the front said he would call us in about 10-15 minutes to be seated. Called us at midnight when we were already home for the night!! Was really looking forward to trying this place. Dont tell people 10-15 mins if in reality it will take 4 hours. Also, you should really advertise that you are still checking for proof of vaccination. The mandates in NYC have ended! Yet the man at the front still asked us for proof of vaccination when we enter. This is the first bar that has asked me for a vaccine card since mandates dropped.Response back to owner - you can advertise this on your website! I personally do not like to support businesses that support these mandates (and I know plenty of people who feel the same). Easy fix adding to your website or even adding a sign to the front of your door.

As someone who works in the industry it was extremely disappointing being denied entry on a slow Monday night because the bouncer/support staff felt like we were standing too close to the door. The business should aspire to try to get as much revenue as possible on a slow night and maybe have someone more approachable and kind at the door . I was excited to try the seasonal cocktail menu but probably will never come back and will highly not recommend this place , due to the hostel agressive nature of the bouncer . I hope the establishment kindly considers this feedback .

You need to tell bartenders what you like for them to prepare you drinks (and they really know how to tackle your asks!). It is a bit pricy compared to Mace, Katana Kitten, etc. Probably because there is a lot of demand for a small place. They have a good selection of whiskeys as well (including some not-easy-to-find scotches from Campbelltown). Will try to come back.

I dont enjoy writing reviews of any kind, be they positive or negative...but tonight warranted one. It was raining and as I went to put my umbrella away and walk inside, a woman comes barreling out and pushes me off of the sliver of step and onto the sidewalk. YOU CANT COME IN HERE! I try to explain to her that I wanted to grab a drink and put my umbrella away. I ask if the bar is full. Curtly, she says yes. Uhh, okay. The bouncer, or whoever (a larger black guy) comes out and asks to take my info for a reservation for a seat inside. He was rude, but not as bad as the woman who literally pushed me. At this point, I knew I probably shouldnt stay, but was unsure of where to go, so stood to the side to figure out my next move. It started raining a bit harder and there was a seat under their outdoor seating area, so decided to sit for a second. The bouncer came out and told me I couldnt sit there. To be completely honest, I only went because a bartender who works there had been my neighborhood bartender for years at another place, and I try to only go to bars and restaurants where I know either the staff is chill or the vibe is...to avoid exactly what went down tonight. To top it off, I never received a call about my so-called reservation. Save yourself the headache and go to any other LES bar where the staff will not potentially cause you to crack your head open on the sidewalk if the bar is full/lose your reservation.

Just got into the #8 Worlds Best Bar, Attaboy! 🙌 I arrived at 6:08 PM and had to join the waiting list, but it was worth the wait. The place is tiny, with only 25 seats, but the mixologists are creative geniuses. They dont have a menu - you can either order a classic cocktail or request a spirit and flavor profile of your choice. My first drink was a mix of gin, fresh lime, orange juice, and cinnamon (plus something else I couldnt quite identify). It tasted like bubblegum and was so interesting! A bit pricey, but the experience was totally worth it.

I visited ATTABOY recently and was absolutely appalled by the blatant racism exhibited by one of the bartenders. When I first ordered a drink, it felt like I was being served at a run-down dive bar—completely unworthy of a place ranked in the world’s top 50. It was as if I was being tested on my patience and tolerance. Only after I ordered several more drinks did his attitude shift to what I assume is his “normal” level of service. This behavior is not an isolated incident. Numerous reviews highlight the same issue: discriminatory treatment of Asian customers, particularly those who aren’t fluent in English. For a bar in New York, a city celebrated for its diversity and inclusivity, this kind of behavior is utterly unacceptable. No matter how prestigious a bar is, it is still in the service industry, and respect for every customer should be a baseline standard.ATTABOY’s craftsmanship may have earned it awards, but its reputation is seriously tarnished by the prejudice exhibited by certain staff members. I strongly urge the management to take this issue seriously—train your team, enforce zero tolerance for discrimination, and make sure ATTABOY lives up to the global standards it claims to represent.

Also read all their 1 star reviews’ response, they’re all real entertaining stories and truly say a lot about this place and its unprofessionalism, racism and disrespect towards customers. How they respond in the comment section reflects their customer service.Edit:Their response is absurd as the host TOTALLY IGNORED US saying he would get back to us 5 times without ever attempting to truly take down our numbers or even hear us speak. He did not say any of the sort he claimed he did. He literally refused to listen to anything we tried to say. We tried to remind him yet he told us “get back behind this line” while we were less than 1 inch from it and witnessing him disrespect other guests in front of us, saying “when I call you need to pick up.” When the other guest said “I did call you back” he said that’s too bad I was busy so I naturally can’t pick up and now you’ve lost your line, you need to learn to read and pick up calls.
