I had an amazing experience at Via Brazil, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered vatapá, which is a unique and exotic dish from the Amazon region of Brazil. It’s a rarity to find it outside of the north or northwest of Brazil, and even in São Paulo, it’s only available in a few upscale restaurants. It was a real treat! We also tried the salmão tropical, a classic dish with a very refreshing flavor that paired perfectly with the meal. For drinks, I had a passion fruit mojito and a caipirinha de caju. If you’re not a fan of the strong taste of cachaça (similar to tequila), I highly recommend asking them to swap it for vodka instead. To finish the experience, I tried their authentic Brazilian coffee, which was the perfect end to the meal. They even served it with two complimentary brigadeiros, a delightful and authentic Brazilian treat that added a sweet touch to the experience.Overall, the food, drinks, and atmosphere made for a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Via Brazil for anyone looking for an authentic taste of Brazilian cuisine.
We had the seafood Mariscada, the Branzino special with brocoli rice and caipirinhas! Delish! The staff is very attentive and nice. Will return and try other dishes -possibly increase # stars.
The food wasnt bad, but its something I would expect from a hole-in-the-wall restaurant for half the price. The chicken and mushrooms in the Chicken Stroganoff were tender, but there wasnt very much of them relative to the sauce. The sauce itself was too heavy and sweet for my liking, and we were not served much rice to absorb it.
The service was fast and friendly, the ambient was clean and very nice, and the food was traditional and tasted amazing. I was visiting NYC and decided to try this place since I was missing some food from back home, and it was just what I needed to kill my cravings. I tried their pao de queijo, pastel, coxinha, brigadeiro, and caipirinha. I look forward to my next visit!
Before having a chance to ask about dining and since I had been in the car driving for a long time, I asked about restroom. Manager very rudely said No, you cant use the restroom. I guess sharing your restroom is a big obstacle for some. Good news is I went across the street to a Thai place and the ladies graciously allowed me to use the restroom. Food in the Thai place looked amazing, by the way!
We got tickets to a Broadway show so we needed a dinner place nearby. We dont have Brazilian food too ofter, so we thought why not? We made a resso for a Wednesday at 6:15. It was pretty empty. From the outside looking in, it does look like a tourist trap, especially because of its proximity to Times Square. But they had good reviews, and the menu looked good and was reasonably priced, especially for that area. We ordered:-Assorted Brazilian Hors douevres - this was an assortment of 6 different empanadas/croquettes with various meat/cheese/rice filling. Some were good but there were a few I didnt like. I dont even know what was what because nothing was explained to us. But its a fun dish to share between two people if you want to try a little bit of all the flavors. This was served with a side of some chili/tomato oil, which was really good but if you cant take spice, this dip isnt for you-Feijoada Complete (black bean stew with fresh and dried beef, salted and fresh pork, bacon, sausage and ribs, served with collard greens, rice, sliced orange and farofa) - we shared this and its definitely enough for two people. I didnt care for the beef, but love the pork because it was tender, and the sausage as well. The collard greens were a nice garlicky tradition. Ive never had feijoada before but having stew with orange was new to me but it was actually kind of refreshing and cut some of the richness of the stew. I didnt care for the farofa (toasted cassava flour). It reminded me of eating nutritional yeast. We wanted a bit more carbs to go with the rest of the stew and the cheese bread would have been great to soak up all the sauce but unfortunately, this was sold out. How can you sell out of cheese bread before a dinner rush! We ended up getting fried bananas, which I do not recommend. We thought it would be like fried plantains but it was literally battered and fried halves of bananas, kind of like the banana tempura you would get at a sushi restaurant.I dont know if I liked this place enough to come back for a second visit, but it was a great first experience.
An stop and go, IPA beer very cold and atmosphere very calm. The guy from the bar recommended me to come before 9 pm if Im looking for food. I’ll back later for it 👍🏽
I got the feijoada from the menu. It was more than enough food for two people. All the food was cooked properly and it had enough spices especially on point for salt. I don’t know if it is the dish but it was a bit luck luster in flavor. Like it was missing something to make it really special. Service was fast and in point.
We had a great time at this restaurant. Everything we got tasted great. Great little Brazilian restaurant.
Had lunch at Via Brasil in Manhattan today after a wonderful workshop Star Mothers & Earth Ancestors: A Channeling Event for Starseeds with Marissa & JJ Brighton. The restaurant was beautifully rustic inside with a piano for live music & tasteful pictures throughout. We had the special which was oxtails & polenta & the rio grande churrascos mixed meat grill. The Pao de Queijo A Brazilian delight cheese bread was delicious & the Mariscos Ao Molho de Vinho which is Sauteed mussels w/ garlic, white wine and tomato sauce. The waiters were all great & very attentive. Love this little piece of Brazil on west 46th street.
OMG this place was soo amazing!!! Took my mom there for mother’s day and she lovedddddd it! The food was absolutely amazing but the service was definitely the biggest gem. Such a lovely atmosphere, cocktails were also delicious. Would absolutely recommend this place!
Highly recommended for good food with a good value . Offers the Brazilian cuisine with genuine touch. Very friendly service. Congratulations for neat and clean table cloths. A virtue long lost in big apple restaurants. Hard to understand how the official bodies overseeing hygiene allow such mess in NY restaurants where food is served on dirty tables.
After a broadway show, this was our next stop. Food was really good. Restaurant was really nice but the ladies bathroom was disgusting.
Great service, excellent food.
Food is tasty, service is great. Our food took a little long to get to our table but totally worth it!
Excellent option for Brazilian food in Manhattan. Highly recommend the feijoada and picahna.Passion fruit Caipirinha is a great cocktail.4 starts because they charged me 20% tip upfront with the check for servicing 2 people.
DELICIOUS! This restaurant was conveniently located next to the hotel where we were staying at. The food exceeded expectations! I ordered the Bife a Baiana and it was beyond flavorful and delicious! My husband ordered the bife a porguesa and it was also a hit. I highly recommend this place. The food is amazing, the restaurant itself is beautiful & the service was great. I will be coming back during my stay in NYC. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!
Wonderful service, delicious drinks!
The Brazilian sausage and manioc fries appetizer was good. We ordered 3 steaks and it took a long time, over an hour. All three steaks at our table were actually over cooked and we each got a different cut of meat (sirloin, NY strip, and filet mignon) I ordered a medium rare steak and it was so over cooked to the point it was almost inedible. Normally, I would’ve sent it back but I couldn’t imagine waiting another hour for dinner. The passion fruit mousse was good!
Excellent food, friendly service. Appears to be lesser known as it was not overbooked.Bottom line everything met or exceeded expectations, would recommend. Food was delicious.
Great food and service! We had the special risotto and shrimp Moquecas; both were fantastic and the service was attentive and personable as well. Ill definitely be back!
Such an amazing restaurant. The food is incredible and the Brazilian atmosphere is lovely
The food was authentic. The service was great too. Would love to go back there.
Great food, live music, nice host/manager, but service was just slow that day. Understandable that it was near holidays and busy but I was so dehydrated at end of night bc it was humid inside and didnt get water refilled when asked.
The food is great, but bear in mind that there’s a minimum tip specified on the bill and they will make you pay that. At first I didn’t realize that and when I wrote another value on the receipt, the waiter was extremely rude to us and pointed on the bill that there’s a minimum tip amount, which was about 15%. It was an honest mistake from our side, that rudeness was unnecessary. Never going back again, and I don’t recommend.
My meal was good as was the service. I didnt try the meat offerings and probably should have. I had a shrimp over pasta dish.
Stroganoff was bomb but the rest was okay. Pao de quejo a little dry and our waiter was borderline rude.
Lovely place to have a meal. The service was excellent & they went above & beyond with our large group. The food was served in a timely fashion. My meal was okay. Others enjoyed their meal better than mine. Beautiful place.
Excellent environment and food as well! As a Brazilian, I’ll definitely recommend it to others! Thank you.
This place is awful. Our server, a bald stalky gentleman is the rudest server I’ve ever had. I asked for hot water and lemon he decided to argue with me that’s it’s a tea. Since when is water with a piece of fruit on the side a tea? Why does it matter ? He took almost 15 minutes to come to our table. He was so rude and uneasy to deal with, then he just brought us the cheque. I see a lot of reviews saying food is good but service is bad, so true but unfortunately both food and service is bad, would never recommend.
Great food. Amazing service. Delicious Churrascos Top Sirloin steak.
Great experience all around. It’s rare to find a restaurant that remains consistent in every way for 30 years. Dining there tonight I was amazed to find it still so good. My favorite dish of chicken (on the bone) with okra and polenta was just as I remembered. My capoerina still perfect. I didn’t see my favorite appetizer of cod fish croquettes on the menu but on inquiring with my waiter he said “we’ll make it for you”. As it was wonderful. I finished off a fantastic meal with a delicious passion fruit mousse with the perfect balance of fruit flavor. I often frequented this restaurant in the 90’s as I worked a block away. It was a favorite for lunch, after work and even occasional visits on the weekend as they had live Brazilian music. The food was always very good and so was the service. The manager during that time, Carlos made you feel welcome and like you were family. Though Carlos is no longer there, one of the waiters from years ago was still there. I said hello and I asked if he remembered me and he said yes, but you used to sit on the other side of the dining room.
The best chicken stroganoff Ive found in New York 😋 I have to visit every time Im in town. Service is a bit of a gamble depending on the day, but would still highly recommend as a great lunch spot.
You guys are going wild on the tip issue, automatically adding the 20% and not being able to serve the customer on the high level of your tip request.Come on, wake up and take some time to read the reviews and address to this issue with proper attention.About 30 minutes ago I was almost forced to tip 20% and the attendant even said that I was not in Brasil to tip less than that, ridiculous. One star goes to the server who brought meal to our table, everyone else deserves nothing.
As always, the food and service were awesome. I definitely enjoyed it and recommend this midtown restaurant for dinner or lunch.
Good food, but be aware they add a 20% tip automatically without asking if you’re satisfied with the service. In my case, I chose not to make a big deal about it, but I didn’t feel the service warranted that amount. I’ll think twice before returning, especially since there are many better dining options in NYC that don’t take advantage of customers. Be cautious.
We had high hopes for our dining experience, as the food seemed promising. However, the service was truly disappointing. The waiter displayed rudeness from the start when we were simply trying to place our order promptly. One of our friends became the target of unwarranted mockery from one of the waiters, which left us feeling uncomfortable. To our surprise, the bill included a 20% tip labeled as volunteering, and when we questioned it, the waiter used inappropriate language to insult us. This behavior was unacceptable, and we hope the restaurant takes necessary actions to improve their service standards.
Hi.I give you one stare because I cant give you less than one!!!Worse service, worse traitement for the guests, very bad attitude!!You made us eat so quick, and didnt have the chance to enjoy the mealYou made us feel uncomfortable...making us feel the pressure for the time schedule from that begging to the end of our stay. You repeated us so so so many times that we had few time to eat, but it was you that took our reservation at the time that YOU decided. You had to told us that we could not come if the kitchen is closing at 9 p.m...and do not rush the people to eat in less than 30 minutes. It wasnt good to treat us like that!!Never ever coming again!!!We do not recommend to ours friends!
I stopped counting how many times we came over. Food is always delicious. The best chicken stroganoff I have ever tried. Fish dishes are amazing to our taste. Crab cake was really good.Mussels were good , no bread was given for their very good sauce. We had to ask.Service is very friendly. Two notes, fyi : small bathroom and not accessible by people with disabilities.
Staff was amazing, food and wine even better!!
The food was good and the wait staff were great. A little pricy but worth it if you want fancy Brazilian.
We had been in this restaurant for many years, we used to love this restaurant. The food was excellent. Normally I dont right negative reviews. But I decided to do so, because the owner needs to be attention with their quality. In the last 3 or 4 Years, the quality went down. That is a shame, because the restaurant is cozy and the waiters were very professional. We kept trying eat there, again and again, but the quality is not the same. I hope the owner step inside the kitchen to check it out.
Great food and service! Rio Grande and Beef Stroganoff was fabulous! Some reviews commented tip was added automatically but not on ours. But was happy to give a 20% tip!
Excellent food and service!
Needed a quick, nice dinner before theater, and Via Brasil excelled. All of our food was tasty, well-prepared, with a lot of authentic Brazilian touches, spices, combinations. There are several caipirinhas on the drink menu, but the baseline one was excellent. Service was attentive and professional, and they definitely worked to get us out in time to get to our show.Would not only go back, would make an effort to visit any time we are town.
Food really good. I booked a table at 20:30 and when we arrived they told me that the kitchen close at 21 o clock. They rushed us and we ate I really really quickly. For the next time I recommend to not accept booking at that time
Lovely staff and delicious food for an affordable price!
Wonderful authentic restaurant, lovely service and atmosphere, delicious food.
Food was pretty good, but tables are quite close together.
The food is amazing. But few things made me give only 3 stars. The decoration is quite old, the chinaware and glassware also. There is no consistency with the staff, Some are very attentive and some are not nice at all. And they dont have any fresh juice.Price is ok, starter, 1 main, 1 dessert and 1 soft drink was 49$
Great environment, music and tasteful food. Caipirinha drink well made, freshly squeezed orange juice as well. A true taste of Brazil! We’ll come back.
Needed a quick, nice dinner before theater, and Via Brasil excelled. All of our food was tasty, well-prepared, with a lot of authentic Brazilian touches, spices, combinations. We had the Picanha Fatiada and the Bife Baiana. They were both excellent. The Yucca is very good and the rice and beans are the best. Perfect for date night.
We came for lunch with our two young kids. Not only was the food amazing (our kids loved the sausage and yucca), but the wait staff was also incredible. Gaspar was wonderful. He took very good care of us and he also served with a flare that entertained the kids. Thank you for the amazing lunch!
This review is based on a Saturday afternoon visit at approximately 2:00 pm. Not crowded, plenty of seating available. This was our second visit to this establishment. Our first visit three years ago was wonderful, not so much this time. The food was over cooked, over priced and overall disappointing. The picanha was burnt, the chicken was tough, the pao de queijo was cold, and the caipirinha was not authentic tasting at all. The desserts were fabulous and the restaurant was very clean and our waiter was very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. Sadly, I would not return nor recommend.
The best Brazilian food I have had in the States. Great service too. Restroom is extra small and could be kept a little bit better.
Amazinggggg Traditional Brazilian Food. Highly Recommend their Churrascos plates!
Food and establishment are good, but unfortunately it leaves something to be desired with the attention of the waiter, after you close the account he forces you to tip him suggested. This is a lack of respect and politeness. I work with customer service too and I know that tipping is cultural here and we love it when we receive it. I didnt stop giving the tip but the waiter didnt accept and came back demanding more. Not to mention that when he left the restaurant he referred to me with impoliteness, thinking I didnt hear but I did.
We had an amazing visit to NYC and went to one of our favorite restaurants. All the food was amazing. We started with the Pao de Quiejo. Great cheese bread. We had the Picanha Fatiada and the Bife Baiana. They were both excellent. The Yucca is very good and the rice and beans are the best. Love this place.
Really good, authentic Brazilian food in a warm and relaxed room. Loved it and plan to go back.
Great service, and a nice fancy restaurant. The food wasn’t as flavorful as I would have liked. The seafood was fresh and tasty, but could have been more seasoned
The assorted hors doeuvres and camarao na moranga were delicious!
Very different food. It comes with a lot of sides.
Tasty authentic Brazilian food. Highly recommend. Service was excellent.
Very nice, homely restaurant with quick and friendly service. Family style in that they will bring out sharing portion of rice, beans, and other sides. Enjoyed the beef stroganoff quite a bit.
Food was good. We enjoyed our meal.
The place is great, it plays good music and has good service, in addition to the food which is very good, it is worth trying the entire menu, but if you have to choose something, try the “feijoada”, the “sortidos” and the “caipirinha”
Great steak with Black beans and white rice.. best of all is the drink MARACUJA a Brazilian drink!
Nice interior decor. Still open during the pandemic.very generous portions.
I love Brazilian food so was excited to try via BRASIL which is located in little brazil in nyc next to Times Square . We got the pao do queijo (cheese buns) which were not the best (they didn’t have enough cheese in them + they didn’t have white / green sauce to accompanied it).For main I got the picanha (Brazilian sirloin) which was good. I do want to go back for the moqueca.Service was little bit weird. Not sure if they fully understood us / when we requested things.
A bright and refreshing place to sit and enjoy a Brazilian meal. Our waiter was very attentive and he knew the menu well. He recommended a few authentic dishes and we all enjoyed our food. In the summer they have a small area outside that you can sit in for some fresh air.
My favorite of all the brazilian restaurants on that block because of the atmosphere and decor
We found the restaurant walking the streets. we sat down and ordered the food, relatively expensive. the food arrived, well presented and beautiful. but totally tasteless! at least the cuts of meat were good. but the side dishes were tasteless. Feijao tropeiro and it was a huge red bean with flour and onion and some pieces of fried pork, it also didnt taste like real Brazilian food. the soft drinks were machine-made, tasteless and without gas ... I dont think it exceeded my expectations. the service was very good pity the food was not.
We called in last night and had a really good dining experience.Warm welcome on arrival , drinks ordered and now down to the serious work of choosing our dinner. So for our starters it was the sausage and potatoes and my wife had the fish cake, both delicious. For our mains I had the house special ( the name escapes me ) which was a very deep cast iron pot of goodness full of different meats, black beans and in a intense sauce accompanied with rice and veg , my wife had braised Brazilian beef in a red wine sauce. Both dishes cooked the perfection and packed with flavour. For desert we shared a coconut flan with prune sauce again very nice. The portions are very generous trust me on that. Our waiter ( tall chap with grey hair ) was attentive and engaging so thank you sir.We really enjoyed our meal so no hesitation in recommending Via Brasil 10/10
My favorite place in NYC for authentic Brazilian food. Great staff and value for the money.
They have excellent, authentic Brazilian food, served by an attentive staff. The bar makes delicious caipirinhas and the restroom is clean. Friday and Saturday evenings, there is live music, a trio playing Samba, Bossa Nova and Brazilian jazz. Of the three remaining Brazilian restaurants, on Little Brazil Street, this is my favorite!
Very good food, specially the juice! The macaxeira frita reminded me of home.
Pretty good
Beautifully prepared food, healthy yet delicious choices, attentive and interested servers, lovely unhurried, atmosphere. A place to truly relax with a wonderful meal. I had a shrimp dish and my husband had a shrimp and tilapia dish with a coconut sauce. Both mouth wateringly good. Reasonably priced as well.
I just went to celebrate with my family and kids the Three Wise Men Day dinner 2017 and its a Great place, great food and very nice service, specially you enjoy the environment with awesome Brazilian jazz, but a big Red Flag🚩... I used one of my credit cards to pay which I usually never use and boom!!! big mistake I got a call in the middle of the night from my credit card company stating a $500.00 dollar purchase was recently made but needed my confirmation for approval. The credit card company asked when was the last time my card was out of sight when payments and I told them I had previously visited and paid my dinner at Via Brasil and its a card a rarely use. Credit Card company suggested some restaurant staff member couldve taken a photocopy or took down information to later try to purchase online. Next step, I called the manager and the lady who answered my call had an attitude once a asked for him and refuse to give me his name and told me to try another time. I hate writing down reviews like this... but after being so disappointed I had no other choice. Hopefully this restaurant manager could put his hand down and fixes the problem, otherwise its a shame to see a great restaurant in NYC with this kind of issues. I suggest customers to pay cash if possible at this location. If it wasnt for this, I should have given 5 Stars.
We order the calamari and an assortment of apps, came out in like 5 minutes and barely hot, calamari had puddles grease on plate and the taste went downhill since last there before COVID. The food came before my bottle beer did
Really Good! I recommend the Filet doree com camrado. A fantastic dish. The wine is good and the ambiance is nice. The service was great. The food came out quick and cooked to perfection. In the heart of the city, its one of the best places I’ve eaten here. I will definitely be coming back.
Best service I have ever received. I dont normally write reviews but they most definetley deserve one. 5 stars isnt even enough. The food is delicious, the staff is so kind and quick, and just a great experience overall.
The waiter was the nicest and the food was astronomically good, we even had to make time to go again before we left NY
I was not expecting much from the non-welcoming guy that received us,,,, well I was right service is very poor, no smile , no words, staff Is flying by not even looking at the table if we need anything, the water is “on demand”The food is sooo basic, plain , not As Brazilian restaurant should be.The restaurant room is very nice , but they should review their standards as they want to have a better service you should lower your standard and leave the water on the table if you’re not able to serve as your guests need,And for god sack SMILE.It could be such a cool place
Stopped by this cozy Brazilian dining restaurant for a Brazilian bite, enjoyed a nice meal during my trip. Service was great, food arrived fast.
Classic Caipirinhas are so good here.
I went to this place two times, the first time the waiter brought me the check for review and said out loud what would be the amount of the tip that I had to add to the bill, the second time the waiter took my card and came with the tip already included in the bill, although the service and the food was good, for me this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I DO NOT recommend this place to anybody.
More posh than my preferred vibe for lunch, but my daughter really wanted to sit and eat. I really wanted pão de queijo. It was most convenient to meet both our needs. There are markets and bakeries in Marietta, GA that are much better, if you like the street food type experience. The feijoada was a bit too salty. The pão de queijo was not very fresh, so it was overly dense and a bit hard. I enjoyed the sampler appetizer plate. Service was good, but I could tell they prefer a more sophisticated clientele. Which is fine. Im content with my middle class status. 😉
It was pretty good. Im used to the picanha and black beans being a little saltier, but this may match Americans taste buds a bit better.
Muito obrigada! Jesús was an amazing server and help us choose the best appetizers and dishes. He was welcoming, friendly and very attentive. We will return for this amazing service and delicious food. Gracias Jesús - Alex y Marlin
My family and I were there just before the pandemic. Great place to get in touch with Brazil away from Brazil. The staff is polite, quick and not annoying. The meals got us in touch with our Latino roots (both my wife and I are from Paraguayan descent, but we’ve never been to South America). The food was amazing. She got a Frango Bossa Nova (because of the name, she loves the music genre, haha) and loved it. The meat was lean and fine and the beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had a restaurant special – churrascos. Again, the roasted meat was lean and juicy and I loved the farofa. The atmosphere was very interesting. There was a live band playing and that gave the whole evening an even more traditional notion. My wife even danced at her chair after having a caipirinha. Which reminds me that they also have a rich menu in cocktails that are very rich in flavor and very strong, so don’t drink too much of them, hahaha. We had a great time and we plan to make a reservation for somewhere in mid August to take some friends for some caipirinhas and bite.Cheers!
Great service by Ricardo.Great mealGreat wine
This is the oldest Brazilian Restaurant in NYC and it hasnt lost its touch. The food: excellent taste. The atmosphere: it makes you feel like you are in Rio de Janeiro specially in the evening. The service: also excellent. The price: its worth every dollar you pay.
Food was ok, but the service was not as expected. The waiter forced me to tip him and rudely asked for more after I tip. This place doesn’t not deserve a second visit for sure.
Picanha was tender and flavoured with rice and beans, house salad and spaghetti delicious, I’ll said one of the best.
We tried this place for the first time for lunch with some friends visiting from Miami (and one of them was from Brazil!). Reasonable lunch prices and portions for NYC. All the meat we ordered was cooked perfectly. Spaghetti with meat was delicious. We also tried the Brazilian cheese bread appetizer which was excellent. You can also order off the full menu, but they do have a lunch menu. The service was good and waiter was very friendly, explaining anything that needed explaining. Our friend from Brazil said he would rate the food a 7 out of 10.
Nice service and food. Definitely Ill be back soon.
Food was good but super desorganized place. As many of the Brazilians restaurants in US, they rely on a nostalgic clientele that endures a lot to have a piece of home. It took more than hour for our order and the delivered was super messy.Sad.
The feijoada I had was exquisite. I loved it so much. The service was spectacular and the price was very adequate. I would definitely go with family and friends.
If you looking for authentic Brazilian food you’ll find it here (according to my husband that grew up in Brazil). I enjoyed it very much from the fried sausage and cheese rolls as a starter over picanha till mousse au chocolat.
Ordered lamb entree. Delish!! One of the waiters was so kind to show me how I should set up my beans and rice with the side options. So tasty! Will visit again when I’m back for wrk or with company!
Excellent food - we went back a second day even though we were only in town 4 days!! We know our Feijoada and caipirinhas*! And Via Brazil does all of it perfectly. The service and quality of food is impressive. The Beef Stroganoff is Brazilian style which made my husband very happy. They hit all the marks! *My husband is Brazilian and we travel there as often as possible. The assorted snacks appetizer was also delicious!!
My wife and I have been coming to Via brazil for about 10 years now. They always treat us well and the food is always excellent. We are greeted at the door w a smile, the sangria is some of the best I have ever had, and they are friendly to my 2 kids who are now 9 and 6 but they have been coming here since they were babies. I love the live music on weekends, the atmosphere is always lively, and I know I said this before but the food is delicious. I highly recommend Via Brazil.
Still sitting at the table and had to comment on how amazing the food is. Everything from the drinks to the dessert. The staff was especially nice as well. Kudos to the Chef and his team!
SERVED TOUGH STEAK INSTEAD OF PICANHA, there is no mistake that my stake was not the real thing, when I asked the waiter why it was so tough, he said that it was a busy Christmas day, so they ran out of the best cuts, if that was the case, then do not charge me for the best cut! I liked the people, atmosphere, but I will probably never go back or recommend this place to anyone because of this. Not a good business practice. Sorry. You can not fool me, I know my meats!
Had our nye dinner at this place and the cozy environment was the perfect set to give 2016 our good byes. We ordered the osobucco, picanha, río grande and milanesa and no one was disappointed. For as crowded Times Square was on this evening, we can only say thanks to the good food we were provided at this place. Recommended!
Great food,, great drinks, fun times
The food was very bad and extremely expensive for such bad quality. We were so disappointed. Please save your money and time and don’t go there.
If you wish to pay $30 for five shrimp then come here. Service is fine, but you will leave hungrier than when you arrived.
Food beautifully presented. Waiter explained each tantalizing dish we picked. Generous serving. Waiter even told us which was spicy. Outdoor tables
Excellent and attentive staff and delicious food! We enjoyed the cozy and quiet atmosphere, a nice break from walking in the city.
Good authentic Brazilian food.
Super great food with great atmosphere and friendly service! My eight year old declared it the best rice and beans ever! My Portuguese style steak was superb!
A New York institution, consistently friendly service, good food, good value. A favorite not just for the Brazilian community, but for an eclectic mix of international tourists and faithful regulars (locals like myself) Great Brazilian jazz from very accomplished musicians.
Great, relaxed restaurant with rich, enjoyable, authentic Brazilian food. Order the feijoada, and the waiter will try to talk you out of ordering appetizers because its such a large, satisfying dish. Listen to him.
Extremely Authentic Brazilian Food! The Food and Service are Top Notch. Our waiter was a true gentleman. Cant recommend this place enough for a an authentic dish. Extremely Tasty and High Quality Meat
The food and the service here are wonderful. The staff are so gracious and welcoming. Loved it
Food was great, service was great, cocktails were awful. Highly recommended for good food, but not drinks.
Gave me all the feels and memories of Brazil. Very authentic, the service was great and the people there were friendly and helpful. Loved the feijoada!
Went on a date here with my new Brazilian nemorada. She liked it and I enjoyed everything as well. The price of everything is reasonable and overall atmosphere is nice. Definitely worth a try if you havent been.
Started off well.Didnt fancy the food, most things were covered with some sort of sauce/gravey.Friendly waiter but 2 of the 5 orders were wrong.Departed early. Alternatives should be considered.
Horrible food, my friend and me went to dinner our 1rst day in NY, we haved to wait a long time for the food, I asked to the waiter if the food was ready and he get angry, take us the food with very bad manners, the rice tasted a lot of garlic and the next day my friend and me were intoxicated because of the food, we suffered stomach pain and diarrea all the day, we buy medicine but insted of get better our health get worst, we have fever and a lot of pain, we haved to asked for a doctor in our hotel and the doctor arrived for prescribe antibiotic in return a very high fee. In resume, the food of this restaurant ruined our trip, heaclth and pocket, we made unnecessary expenses in addition to the bad fisical condition and places that we could not visit because of this situation.
I would probably give this place 3.5 stars if I could. However, I had to round down because I don’t think it is a solid 4. The cheese bread was awesome. Picanha was good, but the carne de panela was disappointing - if I didn’t love beef/mashed potato combo, I wouldn’t have eaten as much as I did. The mashed potatoes tasted like it was out of a box and the meat was really tough for what was described as “braised.” I would probably eat here again, but wouldn’t seek it.
Great food slow service
Took my girlfriend here for Valentines day. Everything about this place was Perfect. Our waiter Carlos was outstanding. Looking forward to returning!
Nice location. Decent price. Clean menu. Pleasent and knowledgeable servers. Clean bathroom. Outside seating available. Decent food.
Superb restaurant, very friendly staff. The food quality is consistently excellent and authentically Brazilian.
Anderson gave a terrible service 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Excellent food, the company needs hiring better people to give a happy service
Via Brasil is a very charming restaurant. The inside is nice and elegant. We sat outside while it rained and the atmosphere was magical. The green space enclosure was a welcoming site in contrast to the gray hustle and bustle of the roaring city. The food was perfect. The waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about each dish as we asked questions. A fantastic place and my wife and I were very lucky to have stumbled upon it on our short stay in NY.
Great pasta and meat! Friendly staff - could have a better wine selection but that’s ok - food made up for it :)
Just about one of the best dinning experiences in the city. A great value and wonderful service.
Best food in the city in my opinion so far..
Great place to stop for a drink! Was just off the main road, but hidden just enough to not be crowded with tourist!Very cozy place, staff is SUPER friendly!!
Avoid this place, this scam artists charge you double with weird added taxes they made to fool their guests, plus average food, safe your money, Im telling my friends when visit NY to never ever go to this so called restaurant
Desserts were great, good wines, good service but food was only ok. Personally I would not go again.
First time trying Brazilian food, the server explained and helped pick just the right dish😊
Good food but pricey. Service not great. Some think just because we share te same nationality we all will ask for discounts or take some advantage...that made the service really bad. Brazilians, I would recommend Fogo de Chão..which is pricey, but the service and food are the best.
Love this restaurant. Never have been disappointed, always a 10.
Good but long wait to get food. Food was luke warm but tasty. Portion size small when you get specials.
My husband who is brazilian always wanted me to try the via brazil restaurant so yesterday we decided to go as the weather was beautiful. We got there but lunch wasnt open yet so we waited when the busboy who seemed drunk started to shout and curse at some black guy .And all of a sudden, they get into a fight: the busboy starts to push the black guy. It was ridiculous as the employee was so little and the big black dude could have at any time taken him down.but instead the busboy keeps running his mouth and saying all kind of non sense: it is needless to say that it was entertaining to watch but we ended up not eating there as who knows what could have happened with some other employee restaurant who loses their calm and start shouting at people.Via brasil : giving you a 2 stars as I didnt try the food and i am sure its good but the behavior of your staff gave my husband and i a bad image of your establishment.
Nice restaurant, stroganoff was awesome and my wife’s moqueca was exactly like the one we ate in Natal. Recommend eating here.
Alex and the whole staff was great. Accommodating our group of 10 easily and friendly. The food was fantastic!
They close sooooo earlyPrices are sooooo highStaff are in a rush. Dont like they way I was treated.I will not recommend it 😞
My family loves eating here! Great food! I strongly recommend this restaurant.
If the tables in Via Brasil could talk (well, a few of them can) they’d tell stories about long and memorable Cariocan meals that were so much fun, with such flavorful food, and the coolest live music, all based upon the most perfect and poignant caipirinhas anywhere north of Copacabana.Don’t waste time with too much reading, just go to the heart of Manhattan’s Brazilian street at 34 West 46th and ask for Dante, the managing producer/director of the very intimate scene, to help you plan your repast. The entire staff at Via Brazil is fearlessly alert, smart, well trained, intelligent, lucky, and helpful. They will be your most respectful friends.Strongly suggest you order caipirinhas and a selection of traditional appetizers for all who can enjoy them. After the fourth caipirinha , ask them to leave out the sugar. The fabled feijoada is celebrative with black beans for the Moors, white rice for the Christians, smoked and jerked pork for the unwanted cuts that only slaves ate, green collards for the jungle, orange oranges for the sun, red fermented beans for desire, yellow yucca flour as the most common food, and luscious red and yellow peppers for sex.Feijoada is the national dish of Brazil, an Via Brazil serves the best Brazilian pepper sauce available within 4,818 miles or 46th Street. There are also outstanding seafood selections, salads, breads, and deserts to “die for,” plus top-notch Brazilian coffee.Enough. Go. Say hello. Have fun.
Went there for lunch. Portions were small and price wasnt. Food was just okay. Disappointed because it was 3rd or 4th time going there.
Snobby staff
Loved this place. Food so, so good. Got the feijolada and picanha. Customer service was just outstanding. Via Brazil is definitely the place to go to for capirinhas
Ótima comida, equipe excelente! Restaurante brasileiro que eu recomendaria em NYC... (As a Brazilian, I would recommend this place to taste real and delicious Brazilian food, plus very reasonable price!).
The food is delicious...Great service!! well deserved the 5 stars
My recent dining experience at Via Brazil in NYC was nothing short of spectacular. The authenticity of the Brazilian dishes served was truly remarkable; each bite felt like a journey to Brazil itself. The menu boasts a delightful array of flavors that capture the essence of Brazilian cuisine. What truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. The staff at Via Brazil exhibited a level of attentiveness and professionalism that added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. From recommendations to prompt service, they truly went above and beyond. To complement the fantastic dining experience, the full bar offered an impressive selection of beverages. Whether it was a traditional caipirinha or a unique Brazilian-inspired cocktail, the drink options perfectly complemented the delicious cuisine. In summary, Via Brazil is a gem in the heart of NYC for those seeking an authentic Brazilian culinary adventure, coupled with exceptional service and a well-stocked bar. A definite must-visit, and I look forward to returning soon.
Staff was so rude, horrible experience, will not come again. Forced us to pay more than we were supposed to

Delicious and traditional Brazilian food ! They also have cakes and several deserts
Always the place to enjoy special occasions, special friends, or a moment for those romantic dinners with your special someone.
Its okay, food flavor was basic... The workers seem a bit busy and rushed.
Very nice, homely restaurant with quick and friendly service.
I like this place. Good food and service. Its a BYOB and thats ok by me
Nice restaurant, but it closed too early the evening we went
Food came out fast and was very tender and flavorful, and the service was great!!

My first time at a Brazilian restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was great, from the caipirinhas, to the food and the service.
Want to have a amazing Brazilian food in NYC? This is the best place. I love this food as well as friendly staff.
The food came one hour late, when i asked if is it gonna take longer they answered rudely if you don’t want to wait you can go, eventhought the restaurant was empty. worst brazillian restaurant ever
Staff is extremely rude. I do not recommend this place.
Disappointed with the waiter service, lack of respect for the consumer. Compelling to consume due to the amount of people.
Come for an authentic taste of Brazil, stay for the music!
Great Staff, outstanding Chefs, delicious Meals, and .... Caçhaça!
While visiting NYC, enjoyed the Caldo Verde soup and the Frango Grelhado as the main course. Loved this place
Amazing food, great service and good value.... A great find!
Food was great and so was ambiance. Great service and music.
Very good and authentic Brazilian restaurant. great staff.
It have a small entrance but once you get inside the restaurant its a really comfy and elegant place, very friendly staff they all speaks portuguese, english and spanish so you don’t need to be brazilian to go there! I’m pretty sure you gonna love it, best food ever!
Great food and great service. Can’t go wrong here.
Amazing if you want to enjoy a finest Brazilian picanha!
It was a reasonable experience. the food is normal. could be more tempered. I found everything very salty. but nothing that would get in the way of going.
Looks a bit fancy but prices are lower than fancy restaurants. Highly recommended
Excellent service, tasty, good jazz band too
Clean nice authentic restaurant with delicious meals and excellent service
Best place in NY for Brazilian food. Wellington is the best and always prompt to attend whatever we need. This was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been in my life!
First of all Im Brazilian. First time here. Great authentic food and great service from Gasper.
Good service, delicious food and nice place.
Amazing food, great service and authentic ambience. A must visit restaurant.
Top food, great staff, fantastic atmosphere.
Happened upon Via Brasil by accident and what a happy accident it was. Great atmosphere & service, great authentic food (and awesome hot sauce).
Absolutely amazing food and service! We wanted to eat dinner before catching a concert at a nearby venue. Selecting this restaurant was the best decision. The caipirinha was amazing. The shrimp stuffed baked acorn squash dish was absolutely to die for. All the side dishes were superb. The service was amazing - attentive and friendly. We will be back. I highly recommend!
Our family always enjoys their steaks, which are on par with steakhouses in NYC.
A classic and classy Brazilian spot. Great food, great service, and free WiFi for all the travelers :)
Well made food, very lively and cozy place to take any group of people.
Delicious! Just really simple and good, real Brazilian food. So good.
Rude staff, terrible experience. Would not recommend coming here.
Delicious food and caipirinhas. Great service
I had the Salmão Tropical Tropical Salmon and it was the best fish I have ever had. It was falling apart, and melted in the mouth. Great dish.
Sat at the bar and received 5star service !!!Food was amazing
Great food and great staff. Guaranteed a great time!
We arrived shortly before closing and received excellent food and service. I lived in Brasil 7 years and this food was very authentic.
