Sunday lunch. We had some yummy burgers on brioche buns. My lunch date had the turkey burger and I had the hamburger. The fries were crispy just the way I like them. Service was slow and at times it felt like they forgot about as since we sat outside.
Usually a go to breakfast spot despite the service not being great but this particular time I brought my out of town family and the waitress really made us feel as if we were there begging and not paying for the service. We got ignored several times and she had us wait over 30 minutes to be able to take our order when it wasn’t even packed. She prioritized cleaning tables and took orders of folks being sat way after us, when I tried calling her over she walked past me and chose to ignore. After 45 minutes of sitting there with no drink or food order taken we just decided to walk out. I prefer to support a different business moving forward.
Park View Diner is the kind of place thats been around for as long as anyone can remember. Its an institution in Dyckman, a place where generations of families have come to gather, catch up, and eat some damn good food.Walking in, youre greeted with the classic diner decor - vinyl booths, neon lights, and a row of stools at the counter. But dont let the unassuming appearance fool you - the menu here is extensive, with everything from breakfast staples like eggs and bacon to Greek specialties like souvlaki and spanakopita. And the food? Its everything youd expect from a classic diner, and more. The omelets are fluffy and loaded with fillings, the burgers are juicy and satisfying, and the fries are crispy and perfectly salted. But its the Greek dishes that really stand out. The gyro platter, piled high with tender meat, tangy tzatziki sauce, and fresh vegetables, is a meal in itself. And the moussaka, with its layers of eggplant, ground meat, and creamy bechamel sauce, is pure comfort food heaven. But what really sets Park View Diner apart is the atmosphere. Theres a buzz in the air, a sense of community that comes from being a neighborhood fixture for so long. The waitresses are friendly and efficient, and you can tell they know many of the customers by name. Its the kind of place where you can linger over a cup of coffee and a slice of pie, watching the world go by outside the big windows that give the diner its name.In a city where so many restaurants come and go, Park View Diner is a constant, a reliable source of good food and good company. Its the kind of place you can bring your kids, your grandparents, or your best friend from out of town, and know that theyll be well taken care of. And thats something truly special.
Received a delivery that was 30 min late. French toast was burnt. And cold. A marvelous feet. And the cheese eggs was missing the CHEESE. When i called about the lateness, the restaurant was blase and unhelpful. And for some unknown reason could not contact the driver
The food was very bland, little to no seasoning. Ordered the chicken kabob, no matter how much salt or pepper I put in it, it tastes nothing but like charred bits (because they grilled it). And the rice tasted like apple cider vinegar. Only thing good were the drinks, and the server was kind.
We were very hopeful for our first visit for breakfast. The establishment keeps an old-time feel by taking only cash and inattentive service. It offers standard diner fare, albeit priced higher than other cash only establishments. The food has become bland. Of note was the corned beef hash. When asked whether it came from a can, the server responded, No, its made in house. After ordering it, it was clearly Libbys/Hormel from a can corned beef as opposed to actual cooked corned beef brisket. (See pictures below to illustrate the difference.) Needless to say, we were disappointed.Overall, the Parkview Cafe missed our expectations. The service level and food quality on this visit ensures that we wont be back.
Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Good food. Nice wine. Good dinner spot. Perfect for brunch. A very kid-friendly place. Gus makes cappuccinos and lattes to die for! Delicious Almond croissants, too.
Staff is well mannered but not mentally present. Kitchen is slow and unprofessional. The waitress came back to the table twice for clarification to the details of a cheese burger. They still messed the order. When i asked for mushrooms to be removed the cook remade my burger left the paper on out of spite. Eat here if you choose dont expect to enjoy your meal if they remake it. Daniel the waiter was understanding, even though he seems young and inexperienced. The waitress, on the other hand, wasnt very good. No attention to detail and very forgetful. Would not recommend.
Some of the best gnocchi Ive ever had! The cocktails are great. Try the espresso martini and mojito!
We have been dining here for over 13 years. Its one of our favorite spots in Inwood. Its typically quiet and not too crowded. The food quality has been consistently great for years. You cant really beat their black bean egg wrap and ice coffee any time of day! My wife would say the same for their grilled cheese. Honestly, I cant remember having a disappointing dish.Enjoy!
My fiance and i were planning on having lunch here.. my fiance showed up first and placed an order.. i show up 10 minutes later and sit to wait for my food.. 10 minute after that a short haired, red headed waitress verifies that we placed our order… after 15 more minutes of waiting- I ask my fiance to verify if our food was coming soon, only to find out they hadn’t started our order.. i understand being understaffed but at the very least they could have let us know so we could have either decided to wait or decided to go elsewhere.. there was no apology or care, honestly.. so disappointing
I dont like to talk badly about restaurants as I work in the food service industry as a server, but I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant in recent memory. The waitress obviously did not care about her job in the slightest. She did not know the menu and after dropping off the food, did not once check in. We waited for upwards of 20 minutes to get the check while she was on her phone in the corner doing nothing but ignoring us. She had 3 tables at the time and the restaurant was dead, mind you. The food itself was very mediocre and overpriced for what it is. My order did not come as described and tasted bad. It was a grilled cheese sandwich- my favorite food- how do you mess that up? None of our food was good, to be honest. $40 for the worst service Ive ever gotten and food that is bested by 99 cent pizza? I cannot encourage you enough to stay away from this restuarant. You will be sorely disappointed.
I like this place a lot. Its always warm service here, it might not be the best level always but still makes you want to come back. Food has always been good. Maybe a couple of incidents where something has not been up to my standards but it hasnt been anything critical that makes me hate the place.
I took my friends here . We allways loved the food and had a good time in a nice athmosphere. The one thing that everybody remembers is the awesome coffee that they serve. They use a small company on the Hudson that roasts their coffee. Amazing !!!!
The brunch was good and so was the drink.I had a strawberry frozen margarita and a avocado toast delish
Great lil hidden gem of a breakfast nook! delicious gourmet quality foods... very nice coffee bar... great for brunch drinks and cocktails. The food is delicious, the vibe is always peaceful and chill, i. the heart of inwood, ob Dykman. Not cheap, but the great quality, makes the prices worth it! Very reasonable!
Excellent food quality and service. The tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches are delicious. Staff were helpful and checked in regularly. Would recommend!
Great, family friendly breakfast/brunch spot in the neighborhood. Friendly service, tasty food, great coffee, good music, booth seating… need I say more?
One of my favorite spots to eat in Washington Heights. The atmosphere is chill. Nice music, good food and not too noisy like the other restaurants in the area. I would recommend their breakfast and brunch menu. Enjoy!!!!
This is the worse . They served me chicken that was not fully cooked then had a problem when I made them aware of it … like I was the one that didn’t properly cook it . Although it seems like a grown place where people could be having a nice lunch. With a bar on the side. Well they have Mickey clubhouse playing on the tv and refuse to change it. While I was there I changed my table 3 times . Third time was because they allowed three dogs to be on top of chairs at one table. This is an eating establishment. And I have a dog all my own . There should not be a pound in a place they are handling food and people are trying to eat. Again food poultry undercooked still blood leaking out . Attitude because I asked for a new wrap..(”oh let me guess… you want it off ur tab)” no charge me for it but I want you to cook the chicken properly please. This place should be shut down. What a shame
They are so nice here—the entire staff! My friend and I had a great dinner. She requested something no longer on the menu and they were happy to make it for her!I had the pulled pork sliders which have a touch of pineapple as well as mild BBQ sauce off the appetizer menu and come on three mini buns, as well as a Mint Julep.Everything was excellent! Also, I lost a pair of sunglasses and one of the staff even texted to assure me that if found, they would contact me. Thank you for that, Ray!The atmosphere is great: low-key and relaxing; and the service from the staff members is friendly, professional and stellar. With the inviting low-lighting and the lovely rustic atmosphere it would probably be a great spot for a couples date night as well—they also have a full bar.
The food portions here are incredibly generous for the price! Coffee is also reasonably-priced and well-made. An espresso ran me only $2.75 and it is my understanding that you can treat this place as just a coffee shop and take it out with you, so it definitely beats Starbucks next door. Its beautiful inside and out and the service is great.
Every time I want to go to breakfast at 9am they seem they are not open or just about to open. Today 6/18/2023 got attitude from the working entire in and she had to knock on the door to get in and it was 9:01am. This was a great spot to get breakfast in the early years. Not so much now.
Nice quiet, calm atmosphere. Attentive service, good food, good price! What a gem!
Food tasted horrible and we felt so sick after eating it. Not great service and bathroom and smells horrible.
Friendly staff. Nice food, came fast. Would recommend.
Still just as good 3-4 years since I wrote the below review and THE BEST THING... NO MORE CASH ONLY! I Highly recommend this place! In this neighborhood only 2 maybe 3 places have American fare and atmospheres where you can eat without loud talking and music. This is one of them. Brunch, Happy Hour, all times of the day are great here. Also they serve an abundance of coffee and tea if that is your thing. THE ONLY DRAWBACK is its CASH ONLY !
Absolutely delicious! Friendly staff, great music, and overall chill vibe. The Park View has definitely become a must for me. My wife and I love it!
Perfect little cafe reminds me of being in Europe and just hanging around people watching
Ordered medium steak and eggs with homefries and toast. I got severely overdone and dry steak that I did not seem very appetizing. The potatoes were served warm, it was weird since you usually get hot food when ordering at a restaurantSent it back and got a rare steak that had a raw smell to it. The potatoes amazingly stayed the same temperature. Maybe they microwaved it.Decided that the best course of action would be to take the steak home and cook it properly myself so it wouldn’t be a COMPLETE waste of twenty dollars.Another thing worth noting was that the service was slow to get to me despite the place being pretty emptyThis place really went down compared to the last time I went here
I didnt particularly enjoy my omlette but the rest of my party enjoyed their brunch. Dog friendly which was awesome. The outside seating was a covered patio which worked for us. This was part of a restaurant row so nice to see all the folks out and about.
The restaurant feels as though its been pulled straight out of the 50s. The art is unique and vintage, as is everything from the furniture to the fountain tap. High quality service for a standard price. The staff are very polite and authentic in personality.
Please note- this place is NOT CASH ONLY. There is a 3% charge to use your card. Totally fine for run of the mill American food. I had the Park View wrap- it was fine. No real complaints. Pretty standard nyc prices- which is real high, no matter where you’re from. Kinda a shrug all round.
This place has been my go to for breakfast in Washington Heights for the past 3 years! I’m stuck on the black bean and egg wrap. I’ve tried some other things like the BLT and there very good but that wrap is just what I’m always looking for! The waiters there are awesome and give you just the right amount of attention. Keep up the great work.
Service is always a bit slow but the food is 😋The aesthetics is also changing...
Went here for dinner on a Friday night. Such a great vibe in this little place. Shops like this make me love New York City in the spring/summer. The tables had little candles on them, with the light flickering on the brick walls. The wall facing the park was retracted open, and the breeze carried an excitement that is usually only seen downtown. My beer was served in a mason jar - cute, matched the style of the cafe. I ordered the Chicken Caesar, my partner ordered the grilled cheese (and what a grilled cheese menu! wow!) with tomato soup. I was just riding a cloud of joy. Then I was a little heart broken. The check came, I pulled out my card to pay, and the waitress noted that the restaurant was cash only. Really? I had do have my partner wait and I hunted down an ATM at 1030pm. I found one at a totally different restaurant half a block away (not awkward at all, right) and pulled out some cash. What would I have done if the check was for two or three people and the ATM was unavailable? When I got back, I saw the small(!) cash only sign on the door - the one that had been blocked by the hostess who greeted us when we first entered. No where else did it say anything about being cash only. The waitress didnt note that when we sat down. The menus didnt bring this up. No sign over the bar.Please. Get a card processor. Its a beautiful spot that I want to keep going to. Let me appreciate your stand up comedy Saturdays with spontaneous abandon. Let me invite my friends and ring up a huge food and drink order. I dont want to be limited to the $20 bill in my pocket. If its a cost issue, please, let me throw my money in the form of visiting a few times a month. I usually dont plan ahead when I want to go out and enjoy my evening. This restaurant is adorable, but unless I know beforehand to check my cash level or to hit an ATM well in advance, I literally wont be able to come and enjoy myself here, as often as I would like.
All the staff members were so nice and courteous. The food was delicious. Big portions and well priced. Me and my friend had a lovely Sunday brunch.
Love ordering from The Park View! Hubby and I love the olive bread that they use for certain sandwiches.Service is fast and the food and its presentation are always on point!I’m a vegetarian and I truly enjoy the “Grilled Porto Bello Sandwich” ($16.50+) and the “Sweet Corn Croquettes” (4 pieces, $13)The Park View has gained loyal customers with us for sure! If you live in the Inwood area or are stopping by, definitely order or dine in!P.S. to The Park View:Please find a way to reinvent your fries, theyre extremely bland and soft, not flavorful or crispy.
I just read Yvette Torres’s review of Park View in which she gave a one star review. The restaurant was busy and instead of being patient and grateful for the $5 happy hour wines she was difficult with her server. Then she complained about the $4.50 for the side of avocado. She also is well aware that this is a cash only restaurant and complained about this. Here’s the thing folks, how about walking into a public place and even though you’re the paying customer, ask yourself, how can I make the lives of the workers who are helping me a little bit better? You can’t change someone’s life but you can change their day. Make this a daily practice and you’ll become a better person too.
I have been coming to the Park View for over 10 years, and have never been disappointed until today, which is why I did not give it 5 stars. My friend and I ordered the GoGreen Omelet because we both love anything with avocados. Sadly the avocados used in the omelet were not fresh and brown in color. A suggestion to the cooks; if any part of the avocado is brown or black, throw it out. No amount of covering up by the other vegetables in the omelet can get rid of the bad taste of rotten avocados. Our waiter brought our concerns to the attention of the cook himself. Normally, at this point someone might have come over and apologized for this type of complaint. That did not happen, which is why my rating is a 4.
Ordered delivery, originally expected about a half hour wait. Sitting, starving, and an hour later they changed the expected time. It’s now another 20 minutes and I haven’t heard from them.Food never came, phone was off. Place was once good. Now overpriced and failing long term customers.
The owners need to hire more staff, having a full house and one waitress and one busboy is tantamount to labour abuse. I should not have to wait 39 minutes to place an order, just because you are under staffed and another point, for heavens sake, get a square account so we can pay with our credit cards, you know how embarrassing it is not to have to pay you bill when its in cash. GET A CREDIT CARD PROCESSING MACHINE!!!!!Getting 2 stars cod the waitress was gracious under tremendous pressure.
Came for brunch on Saturday. Ordered French toast with a side of eggs and bacon. The French toast was delicious. Thinner slices of bread which I liked a lot. The syrup was really good. The bacon was fantastic, flavorful and crunchy. Just how I like it.The major con: it is Cash Only.
Surprisingly great breakfast and pancakes.Place looks simple and domestic but with very friendly amd welcoming staff.
The food was great and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. There are a number of restaurants next to each other, and this is the best of a lot.
Went there with 3 other people including a child and was ignored and passed up for seating for about 15 minutes with groups of the same amount of people. Cant even comment on the food because at that point, we ended up leaving. Id rather give the place negative stars if I could.
The food looked better than it tasted UNO BUT the coffee was exceptional -
Best brunch spot in Inwood. Cash only, but the place has an incredible menu of American style cuisine. I order the french toast with walnuts. Yum!
Didnt get a seat. Waited around for a while while other random people got seated. Totally ignored us. Im thinking it might be a good place to loiter in the future, Im thinking no one will bother me if I hang out and just mill around, maybe bring my son and play catch, or game with him. Maybe do some light stretching, sit-ups and push-ups in the corner
Awesome neighborhood spot, love the food. The four cheese tortellini is UNREAL. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because its cash only.
Outdoor seating is dog friendly. Wait staff very attentive. Across from the park. Very good food and REAL MAPLE SYRUP
Great place, nice ambiance, delicious foods.
Great food and atmosphere. Servers are nice but often very busy. Worth the trip for the grilled cheeses alone.
Excellent place for a chill nite out with great food. And the stand-up comedy night on Saturday nights, is extra free entertainment. If youre from the neighborhood or just passing through, check out The Park View.
Service isnt perfect but the food sure is good and thats all I really care about(I already moved the food around, it was presented better)
Enjoyed a delicious iced coffee here while waiting for a trip outside the Chines Theatre. Also bought two bottles of water here, which unbelievably were cheaper than some of the vendors stalls in the area.
Didnt like the food. The coffee was fine but the steak i had was small and had no flavor.the servers not to polite.and prices are to high.
Heard a lot of good things about this spot and I can finally confirm the deliciousness. Great vibe, and great staff. The fresh lemonade juice was amazing!
Always great food & amazing coffee
Food and staff were great. Unlike every other place we considered in the neighborhood you could hear the people you were sitting with without yelling. Relaxed and comfortable.
The service is extremely slow and staff was not as attentive (I had to ask for some water 20 min after I ordered). Food was not more than ok and was ready about 40 mins after I ordered (a chicken wrap!!)…
Good location nice ambiance my meal was very tasty as well a full range of beverages and the service was courteous.
Numerous tasty specialty grilled cheese sandwiches; the grilled chicken sandwich is also delicious. Super friendly, helpful staff.
Nice and friendly. Will accommodate you with menu changes. Cash only and a little too quick to clear your plates away. Otherwise topnotch.
They really need to work on the turnaround time for the food. Ive never waited longer for a simple burger. Plus the cash only policy is getting ridiculous
Music cool
Awful service, they say 20 to 25 minutes to delivery and thats a lie, the owner, who is very rude, says that its gonna take 20 minutes to cook and he admitted that the personal is lying and still he acts in a very disrespectful way. Ive been a client since the opening of The Park View and today was my last day with them.
Even though the restaurant wasn’t croweded, the food took 30 min to arrive. It had an ok taste, nothing special.
Small place, nothing fancy, but outdoor seating and free comedy on Saturday nights. Friendly service, basic food options.
Delicious, but cash only!
My waiter, Paulette was very attentive and kind. If you stop by make sure to ask for Paulette ! The food was just as good as the service
The food was nice and well priced. good service and clean place
A lil pricey but so good fresh the service is great as well they keep ur cups filled and continue to ask if your ok!!!
Found a roach in my food.
Very nice cozy atmosphere. Great service. Great place to read or have a long conversation with a friend.
Great Cafe. They have everything you would be looking for. And daily baked goods that sure phenomenal
Delicious and adorable cafe with good food, good coffee, good sangria and a nice COVID safe patio!
Great drink specials (especially Tuesdays $20 bottle wine night) and good food.
Food was okay but they didnt serve decaf coffee for some reason. The waiter was very friendly.
Was supposed to be open until 1am according to the sign on their door, bit was closed at 10:30. Liars.
Really good bar/coffee shop with tasty brunch options. Cash only, though
Food was good, quiet business evening, sat outside and had a great conversation
Has definitely one of my favorite Lattes in Inwood, food is also very good
Good ramen, great cocktails
Pancakes are amazing 👏 and everything else is too.
Cash only place, with excellent brunch food. I got an excellent croque monsieur.
Good food +service, but they always drill a *loud* juice machine. So completely annoying. They might as well be fracked for natural gas. That is my last time ever going. Who drinks juice anymore??? You might as well just eat a Snickers bar.
I’ve always enjoyed The Park View. The menu is great as well as the service. They have excellent coffee too. It’s cash only, which I wish would change.
It took about 15 minutes for a waiter to approach our table to take our order. My mom and I both got the French Toast (mine with strawberries and bananas, hers with bananas and walnuts). My mom got a tea and I got the peach apricot iced tea. We waited about 20 minutes for our drinks to come out and then they brought our food about 10 minutes later. The French toast was burnt. Additionally, we could taste hints of ONIONS on our French toast and in our fruit as if the cook used the same griddle/pan without properly cleaning it before making our French toast and slicing our fruit with the same knife that was used to slice the onion. My iced tea was completely flavorless our waiter never came over to us to ask if we needed anything throughout our entire meal so I had to get up and get the sugar myself. In the end we had to flag down the waiter for our check after waiting for 10 minutes after finishing our meal. The place wasn’t too busy but there was only one waitress and one bartender. I would not recommend and I will not be going back.
The food was great! Best customer service in Inwood
Place is good. No complaints really. It is just a solid choice.
Not only is the regular food good, they offer pastries by Balthazar!
Good food. Service is friendly, but can be slow.
Great cafe/pub. Cash only. There are banks across the street.
Very good food, good service, reasonable Price.
Very good restaurants in uptown for lunch & Diner. Family environment.
Decent food. Tasty coffee. Terrible service
Dont go here for Sunday brunch. I wont blame the waitress who was overwhelmed with patrons. But waiting 25 minutes for water and almost an hour for food is not good service. Its going to be a long time before going back here and especially during brunch hours.
I dont give many reviews because my mom told me if you aint got nothing nice tp say dont say anythingWell this restaurant was absolutely amazing..From the appetizers to desert it was unbelievable..We took train from Manhattan just to go to this restaurant and it did not disappoint.Anytime we are in NYC we definitely 10000% will be going back
Unfriendly waiter. I tried to talk to him a little and he acted like it was torture. Other places on the block have friendly, talkative waiters. This guy needs to find a new profession.
Small quiet spot with great avocado toast and beautiful ambience.
Nice mood... Great atmosphere. I love there displayed artwoks, too.
It was a pretty good time, food was decent and the drinks were pretty good
Nice for excellent coffee, tea, drinks and lunch. Friendly staff.
I had lunch with my two sons here and we absolutely loved it. I am a regular but it was the first time that I dined here with my kids. Staff was friendly and food was wonderful! Two days later my son told me “Mom, can we go back to that restaurant? The people were so nice.”
Food is delicious. No refills on coffee, while dining in.
Good food ok service great coffee
I have been here multiple times and each time the food & drinks have been delicious.
Great place and service ! You must try the coffee brownie!!!
Very nice cosy/industrial atmosphere.Friendly service and good food, what else would you ask for?
Very mediocre food. The only thing good were the mimosas which you can never go wrong with. The omelette was flavorless and I was surprised with green tomatoes in it which I never asked for. Grits weren’t good unless I added a ton of salt and butter. The menu looked appealing but wasn’t unfortunately. Add more flavor to the food and it would be a great dining spot on the corner of Dykman.
The food was the same as the service: terrible.
Extremely slow service even with only a few customers only for the food to be flavorless. Even the coffee was bad, unfortunately.
My family and I have come here multiple times both for breakfast and dinner and every time we’ve been very happy with ours meals and can’t wait to come back. Looking forward to trying their lunch soon, the salads and sandwiches sound amazing. Great ambiance and wine selection. Definitely our go to place in the neighborhood.
They recently renovated and added a nice closure into the street, fits the vibe. They also now accept credit cards, which helps. Good improvements.
Pleasant place and staff. Pretty good coffee. You must pay per cup. Decent choose your own omlette. Nicely quiet outside on Sunday until about 11:30am. Bathroom seems recently renovated with handsome wood and stone paneling.
Perfect breakfast spot! Wonderful service and everyone enjoyed their food, even the little nephews who can be picky sometimes.
I wanted to like this place. Unfortunately I found my chicken piccata to be very disappointing. The portion was great for the price and the atmosphere was nice. But because the food was lacking I most likely won’t go back.
Very nice place. I had the greek salad and a sangria. The vegetables were fresh
Cash only, but excellent food and service
Good service. Good coffee. Good food. Never any complaints. Cash only. This place is great for a quick breakfast, light brunch, beer, coffee (to stay or to go). I recommend this if youre looking for coffee and breakfast if youre on Dyckman or in Inwood.
CASH ONLY: Cozy place, good menu selection. One of the four in our party had to wait nearly 15 minutes after the rest of us got our food to get hers, and then it was incredibly lackluster. Waiter acted like it was his first day on the job, very unenthusiastic and inattentive. Had to tell him to leave us water and bring the check. Nice compared to the crazy club-restaurants next door but definitely could be better!
Food is solid, try the burger. That said, why wouldnt you include some veggies (lettuce, tomato, onion) with a burger Im paying $18 for?I also need to mention that they charge an illegal credit card processing fee. Suggest that they talk to their lawyers about how those fees can legally work. The city was VERY clear with business about this - you can charge a fee, but it cannot be a percent of the total bill tacked on at the end. The cash and credit prices MUST be listed in dollars and cents on the menu.
Love the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Pork sliders are cloyingly sweet.
We had to sit outside because inside was crowded. The music was on point. Good atmosphere. I love it
The Park View is my go to place for delivery of emergency lunch when I dont have time to prepare food or am working on a deadline. The turkey club (with sweet potato fries) is a great balance between healthy and indulgent - the fries are always crispy (even following delivery) and the turkey club has a satisfying mix of good quality turkey meat, avocado (for richness) and the other stuff you would usually find. The only thing I would change would be to add bacon... because, well, duh!!! The staff are friendly and the only downside is that they are cash only.
This is a nice laid back place on the very busy stretch of Dyckman street. The food isnt anything out of this world, but I enjoy sitting somewhere for a drink without being surrounded by hookah everywhere.Their brunch menu is pretty solid, typical omelets and sandwiches. In the summer they they open the big windows, so theres lot of fresh air and a chill vibe.If you are looking for a chill spot within all the craziness that is around there, this is the place to go.
Fantastic food and fantastic service! Also great vibe
My first time ordering, I got the turkey meatloaf. It was unbelievably good. The second time ordering, just two days ago, the meatloaf was hard and disgusting, frankly. The vegetables werent even the same. I thought I ordered from a different restaurant. I dont know why the food is not consistent but the second experience was so vastly different that I will be staying away from this place.
Food was good but they took FOREVER giving us our check then took even longer to take the money. Paid with a large bill so I needed change. Had to wait forever on that too. Wouldnt be such a problem if my parking wasnt about to expire.
Im thrilled it seems as if they have new staff! Friendly, quiet & food is always great.
Food is okay. This place fell off a lot. I remember when they opened. Used to be much better along with better service. Service was slow, and there was nobody in the place.
Great food, sometimes chaotic and crowded.
My family and I just wanted to have a nice quick meal. The restaurant was busy, many people were still waiting for there food or to order. We saw two families who go fed up on waiting and just left…We waited a long time..just to be asked our order…as well waited long for our food..there were only 2 waiters. So it was short on staff..Also only 2 cooks..Once the food arrived our appetite has disappeared.. we orders a portobello sandwich…it was very presentable but only got 3 small slices of mushroom. So bad service (nice ppl tho) and just the delay overall was bad
My friend took me there for dinner. In all my life living in this are I had never been there. The food was great and so was the ambiance because you could actually have a conversation without having to shout.
Great sweet potato fries and kobe burger!
Friendly staff but messed up my order which was to simple to get wrong especially when they are not overwhelming busy. Maybe I will try again but I doubt it way to many options around here to choose from
Love Park view for breakfast or lunch. Their omelets are always wonderful! Cooked perfectly and the veggies are really fresh. Serive is sometimes great and sometimes.leavea something to be desired-- and I wish everything was $1 cheaper... Hence the four stars and not five. But I love their food! Its a neighborhood favorite for sure!
Amazing food and atmosphere What a bathroom. Ask for Jack
My friend and I love ordering the steak and eggs. Their sliders are delicious. The pumpkin spice latte is delicious.
Great local alternative to the $tars and Bucks next door. Artisan coffee, good breakfast or brunch place. Live music and free comedy Saturday nights at 10pm.
Great food. Courteous service!
Cash only but food is great. Its old school but I really love the club sandwich. The staff are extremely friendly and great for dinner or brunch
My partner and Is favorite restaurant in the area! Highly recommend the grilled cheese and tomato soup, or even the Kobe burger!
Cash only. Reasonable prices. Chill atmosphere. Calamari and apple grilled cheese with tomato soup are delicious.
An excellent location and lovely atmosphere, the Park View offers tall indoor tables looking through its windows towards Fort Tryon park and the Cloisters. Outdoor seating is a lovely way to relax in good weather. The beer selection is medium sized but surprisingly good, as is the coffee. Food service can be painfully slow at times, so have another beer and relax. Note that it is cash only, but ATMs are around the corner or across the street.
The food was good and the staff nice.We had BLT, Kobe sliders, waffles and pancakes. Everything was very good.
I love The Park View!!! Food, service, atmosphere AND value. CASH ONLY... I can’t even call it an inconvenience.
Delicious food, huge portions, fantastic coffee. Great service too! CASH ONLY.
Best eggs Uptown! Cash only, they should have an atm in their spot. Overall good food, im a fan of their steak and eggs. Make sure to order your home fries crispy tho.
Terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible service. Like the worst. I wouldn’t even come back if I was paid to eat at this place.
Food is ok but the service sucks.
Worth it for the coffee alone. Much better than the Starbucks next door. The breakfasts are very good. Service is also fine.
Got steak, eggs, and frys, it tasted delicious. Workers were super friendly and the restaurant looked nice
Good service, nice quiet atmosphere, the food is great and also the bakery and hot drinks. The chicken ceaser was delicious!! FYI You can only pay cash here .I reccomend this place
Really nice place with excellent food!
Great place for brunch, and quick bite. They have comedy night on Saturdays. Recommended.
Theyre a little pricy for the neighborhood sometimes, but its a great little spot and their food is consistently good. Ive had their burger, chicken caesar, hot cocoa, croissants, and hard cider and have no complaints. The owners are super friendly and theyre family friendly. My roommate brings the baby in often and they love him and are super accommodating.
I prefer breakfast here. Garden Cafe Dinner. Family owned is always more in tune with neighborhood. Great Place to visit if your heading on the A train
Good food and service. If you are in a hurry, you need to establish that up front.
Great as usual. I had the Cobe burger with sweet potato fries and side salad. Very good, fresh and delicious.
The food is not good, no seasoning. My turkey burger was very undercooked, had to send it back then it was cooked but tastes awful. Service & cleanliness is very poor. The food was so much better before the renovation. Every time Ive gone has been very disappointing.
Decent space, good food. Management needs to hire more staff as current personnel in place are extremely over worked which in turn leads to inefficient service…
How can anyone make a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich that is bland, tasteless, and plain? Well, The Park View certainly has accomplished that. They remodeled to make it all trendy and hip. I guess the menu needed to match the yuppie clientele...bland, tasteless, and plain.
Cash only. Food is good and the drinks are nice, but its somewhere Id go for a quick coffee or tea at the bar instead of dinner. A little pricey for what you get (but that could just be the cash-awareness creeping in when I order).
I really like the food and the location is across the street from my home thats the only reason I come back. However, the customer service is terrible and it takes forever to get your check no matter whats going on. I was there tonight arrived at 9:15pm.and was told they were trying to close at 10pm even though they close at 11pm. I asked for some tea at 10:09pm and was told they were really trying to get out of there. How rude and disrespectful and Im seriously considering never going there again. Its always the same two guys who are horrible servers and non interactive nor friendly with the customers. I couldnt believe he actually said that to me! Unbelievable!!!
I agree with James Henry. Since the renovation, the new staff do not come close to the former staff in terms of service. When the owner is not there, you can tell. It is more of a Happy Hour for the staff than for the customers. Loud conversations about hangout time, working out, getting punched or slapped in the head by one another and their uproarious laughter drown out the soft jazz that plays in the background. Business is seen as more of an interruption to their good time. Multiple dirty tables, dirty wine glass, unswept floors with papers, and even dirty silverware with multiple bits of food still stuck to them, get fixed or changed with a cold silence and no offer of apology or checking back to see if the food or situation are all right. Really, they are not paying attention and taking advantage of the owner not being present. They will come back to see if you want another drink, which we know is a sale for them, but not to check on your meal. Happy Hour drinks are good, but the staff during that time and at the change of staff (just before), loud and lazy. The new French Toast is good, that I tried on a different day, at the bar. Those grilled cheese sandwiches, only so so. Mine was cold, but I dared not complain again. You never know what angry kids do to your food in the back, so I kind of suffered through the meal. It took so long for my waitress to acknowledge me (and I was the only customer for half of the meal) that there was no excuse except for the staffs loud conversation at the bar, and poor upkeep of the space. Please clean the tables between customers, check dishes before distributing and dont seat customers in spaces strewn with trash on the floor that spans two tables. If youre being paid to keep up the place, do that, whether the owner is there or not.
Been going to this place in its many iterations for 30 years. The latest, owned by the scions of a local restaurant owner its newer more upscale menu still offers the best breakfast in Inwood
Great food for a good price. Love the turkey burger & breakfast omlette . Great selection of teas & beers. Just wish theyd take credit cards.
Ma-ma-lon its renovated. Food is great! Beer too!
Enjoyed excellent soup and shared a grilled cheese sandwich -- tasty, attention to quality ingredients and inventive, colorful flavorful dishes.
Great service. Nice and peacefull time. The food is delicious.
Excellent service.. love their bacon and breakfast combinations.
Really nice atmosphere and very friendly staff but service can be slow when theyre busy. Food is good, good coffee, good wine selections, fun night events, etc. One downside besides the slow service is that they take only cash.
Delicious food! Terrible music lol
Ordered kobe burger medium well came out well done and dry edge was burned very obvious grill marks from pressing on it, break fast is great but dinner is hit or miss
Saturday night comedy show is super fun -- top notch comedians
Great food and service. Mimosas are also good.
Service is awe full. Ordered a salad, took 1/2 hour to come. Ask for some bread or chips with salad. Waiter said I have to buy that. Owner should know that.
One of our go-to places in Dyckman. Love it! Cash only, no cards.
Its good, but a bit too pricey...
I used to like this restaurant (before the renovation) -- good breakfast and brunch place in the hood. Just got back (Sat, Jan 18, 2014) from a disappointing breakfast: out of bagels (at 10:00 AM), muffins on the menu but they have never had muffins, no free refill on coffee, and bitter coffee to boot. Bye-Bye Park View.
Overpriced for the neighborhood / value. The one draw used to be the mast brothers mocha which was fantastic, but on last visit was an undrinkable 5 dollar bowl of acid. Food and service acceptable at best.
Good brunch selection with delicious food! Looooove their classic (non-challa) French toast! Usually theres a wait, but not more than 15 on peak weekend brunch times.
Good food. Good atmosphere. Different crowd considering the neighborhood.
Great Diner, A step above a standard diner.
Delicious coffee, tasty omelettes, and outdoor seating when its warm. Just lovely!
Solid choice for breakfast and lunch. So happy they finally got turkey bacon in their rotation.
Great place, great service and friendly employees but its cash only. A little inconvenient .
Excellent food. Ordered the meat omelet and had a coffee stout on nitro from founders brewery. Couldnt have asked for a better late breakfast right now.
By far the best breakfast uptown! My favorite is the steak and eggs but their pancakes are also divine!
The service is atrocious. Waited 10 minutes for a seat while being ignored by wait staff only to be told that its seat yourself. Then waiting over 20 minutes for the waiter to come over. While waiting the barista walked by to bus a table and refused to take our order because that wasnt her job. No one ever even brought us water until I asked. The food is at least average or I wouldve given this place 1 star.
Bad service and felt like they barely gave me attention because Im Latino, also cash only. Food is decent at least.
Great food and great customer service.
My favorite restaurant in the area. Delicious food, good ambience and prompt service.
Excellent food, however service was slow both times I have gone for brunch / lunch. Having only been there twice, Im not sure if this is typical or not.
Excellent remodel. The prices are quite reasonable and the coffee is superb!
The worst place in inwood, I got up early this beautiful morning 7/26/2017, ran a few miles, attended a conference call from work then I got a bit hungry and I felt like I should treat myself so I decided to go out for lunch and found a place so I went In here The Park View (been here before) I went to the bathroom got my table; time went by and I noticed that I was not even offered water then the buss boy gave me water by then at least 4 minutes went by so I thought ok the server that seated me will take care of me now (well I was wrong) time went by then I started tracking the time and another 5 mins went by and nothing I was starving now so I got up and talked to a lady that was at the bar I asked is she was the manager she said no so I explained to her what had happened and she was like where were you seated I was like Im done I was there for at least 12 mins hungry and nobody acknowledged, so I told her thats the problem that nobody saw me, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, service is horrible, the food is less than average there are many other options, well they only gave me time while waiting and found The Tryon Public House right across the street much better place than The Park ViewWhoever is running The Park View needs to step it up, Im the GM of a restaurant and I hold my employees to much higher standards than that
Tasty breakfast, but customer service a bit slow.
