Went there Saturday evening for my birthday with friends. Everything was great, the oysters were a good size for the price, octopus and lobster roll was out of this world!! Great friendly and speedy service, will definitely be back!
Happy hour oysters and little neck clams are really fresh and delicious!!We also ordered “Kusshi” and “Miyagi”.Unfortunately Miyagi was not really flesh...But clam chowder, squid ink pasta were great!!
A lovely fish restaurant in the East side of Manhattan, where multiple choice of fish will delight either your lunch, dinner or even better happy hour. The quality is outstanding as well as the staff, always able to help and accommodate any request. Oyster, shrimps, calamari and many other will make your decision time very difficult. You can sit outside on a warm sunny day, the atmosphere inside is even warmer, where you will be able to see your food being prepared. An excellent fish restaurant highly recommended.
Great atmosphere and staffs.Happy hour is great. However lobster roll was such a disappointment.
We saw the lobster roll with old bay spiced fries on the menu and just KNEW we had to get it. It did not disappoint! The lobster was not doused in mayonnaise (thank goodness) and the roll was a soft buttery brioche bun. It was just perfect!
Really good seafood and ambience. Great deals for happy hour too (including $1 oysters). Go for the outdoor seating if it’s available.
Fabulous location and ambience but the meal could have been better. Dont get me wrong, the food was tasty. The upper west side location is better, though. Mac n cheese was bland, fried oysters were soft-fried (very delicate exterior, melts in your mouth very quickly) when a slight crunch would have been nice and the calamari was much too chewy. The drinks were great and the service is nice, though they do get busy (as is expected). Definitely give the upper west side location a try, but make a reservation! All in all, 3/5 stars.
So Ive yet to experience the happy hour and Im not a shuckker by any stretch of the imagination. However I like sea food and I really enjoy a solid ambiance and location. In terms of location, you really couldnt ask for better. Located in the heart of the lower East side close to the famed St Marks place, this little pool of seafood goodness is not obscured by its surrounding competition. With a quaint out door seating both in the front and in the back, the Mermaid Inn comfortably gives you space to hold those friendly, boisterous or intimate gatherings. As a tall man at roughly 2.3 meters tall having legroom is vital to my comfort. With a quick look around most especially where I was seated, my concerns where quickly asuaded. As for the food, everything we ordered was quite tasty however for the price I would say the portions where quite small. With an abundance in food options however, if youre willing to spend the money you can really treat these main courses as tapas and get a bunch of them. Again come prepared however to spend some money here.Honestly there are better seafood places but if youre in that area and need a quick bite and you can take advantage of the happy hour, then I would highly recommend this spot. However if youre gonna hit this spot devoid of said happy hour then hopefully youve got an abundant pocket. Youll enjoy the food and youll be quite comfortable whilst eating but that check at the end may be rough for those more fiscally conscious..
This place has happy hour oysters for $1.25 each. It also has outside seating, so when the weather is nice, great to grab a table outside and have oysters and rosé. Oysters were great! They were small, but not overly so and had a nice light briny taste. Our server was a little on the slow side and lacked personality, but overall we had a nice experience. Would definitely come back and try more items on their menu.
Would definitely return! Everything I ate was good. The happy hour specials are well worth it. Kudos to the servers and kitchen staff keeping everyones tables full of food during the happy hour rush! 10/10 recommend.
Excellent staff, fast service but only appetisers were halfway decent for the incredible prices. Entrees were all reasonably-priced but I tried two different ones (fish tacos and lobster roll) and neither were particularly flavourful (nor enough in quantity) Excellent interior design. Cozy enough for dates. Clean restrooms with available liquid soap. Will try again and amend this review, if warranted.
I like this place. The oyster happy hour is wonderful. The staff is friendly and attentive. However, the whole party has to be present to be seated policy is taken a bit to an extreme and quite frankly, a bit pretentious. I was there when it was basically empty and they would not let me have a seat until the whole party was there. My guest did eventually arrive and we were seated. Eventually, when the time came for us to leave, the place was still not even close to full. I understand if a place is crowded and the restaurant wants to make money, but there needs to be some flexibility during off hours. Also, wish they had a wider draft beer selection.
The night before I had gone to the Mermaid Oyster Bar (part of the same chain) and I have to say that this was the better branch for happy hour oysters. At the Mermaid Oyster Bar, the oysters were tiny, here they were more medium sized and still as tasty! Plus, the service here was quick - oysters came out within a minute or two from ordering, compared to 10+ minutes at the Mermaid Oyster Bar.I highly recommend the happy hour, from 5-7pm daily, where oysters are $1.25 each and clams are a bargain $1 each. The happy hour apps, like the fish taco, are great too.
Reservations highly recommended as this place is crowded on all days! We had to come back twice to get a table but it was worth it. Was happy with the oysters, corn fritters and battered dog, and cocktails. The fortune telling fish was fun to end a meal. Tables are literally next to each other so prepared to get cosy. The service leaves much to be desired though.
Good service. Good food. Great atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Fish fortunes come with your bill. I had the fish and chips (made with skate), which I rather enjoyed, but it was a big amount. The potatoes were really, really good as was the dipping sauce. Being that it was skate, the batter couldve been a little lighter, but the whole thing was entirely crunchy the whole time, which was nice.
So happy this location reopened. Always delicious fresh seafood. And they also have a fabulous happy hour. Also one of my favorite drinks is here -- the hot & dirty. You cant go wrong at The Mermaid Inn if you like seafood 🦞❤️
This is a great place for a nice meal or hangout with friends during happy hour. This place is known for the oyster, they serve a variety of oysters from different regions and you can even download their app onto your phone to learn fun facts about the oysters. Im not a huge fan of oyster, so I sampled some of their dishes instead. Everything was fresh and very delicious. Aside from the food, I have to really note the service as being one of the best places because the entire staff was very attentive and really went beyond my expectation.
Service is awesome place is live. Food is outstanding! Drinks are great! 5 stars! Grandma had a great time thank you. All. Lovely day#pride
I cant get enough of this place in the summer months. Outdoor patio in the back is an oasis, escape from the city and makes you feel like you are somewhere warm and relaxing. The dollar oysters are amazing and so are the happy hour drinks. Ive had some of the food and everything is great. This is a must and a great go-to spot!
Probably one of the best Happy Hour oysters in town. It gets busy so if you dont want to wait get there right at the beginning of happy hour. They also had other daily specials that I will be returning to try.
This was a fantastic place for happy hour. This is a cozy restaurant that has a warm and lively atmosphere. The $1 oyster happy hour was really fun. Perfect for trying oysters for first timers. The draft beer is $5 and happy hour cocktails are $7. The mermaid mary, aka Bloody Mary, was one of the best I have ever had. The old bay spice added to the mermaid mary was perfect. At the end the dining experience we received complementary chocolate puddings, which were delicious. The staff was really friendly and fast.
Happy hour is spot on, not only with the $1 oysters but also with the $1-$6 delicious snacks that you can get. I love the shrimp corn dogs, fish tacos, and fried oyster sliders. Also, I once had a lobster empanada special that was to die for. I highly recommend both this location and the Mermaid Oyster Bar for delicious seafood and great happy hours.
One of my favorite happy hour places in NYC! A bit pricey and the portions are a bit small but still yummy! I also love the cute ambiance of the restaurant. It’s always a great time here. They even give you a complimentary chocolate pudding after your meal!
Went there during happy hour for oysters. Good place. Happy Hour Oysters were ok but if you want really delicious then you have to order more expensive ones. Overall, very satisfied.
Awesome oyster happy hour!! But you have to try a little of everything on the menu!! 👍Excellent service from a polite and professional staff. Well fun and fun to go to any time of day or night, any day of the week!
Very yummy seafood! Love the vibe here. They have a great variety of selections. The lobster dip was delicious! It was hard to make a decision as everything looked amazing.
Happy hour is pretty awesome! We ordered six oysters, Mermaid lobster sliders, mini fish tacos with smoked jalapeno, and lollipop chicken wings. The lollipop chicken wings were super flavorful (a combo of juicy and spicy) that we ordered a second patch. To drink, I ordered the Tommy Collins and was set to go!
This place has a high opinion of its food so only go for happy hour. (M-F 5-7) The cocktails are $7 and the sparkling wine and selected beer is $6. The people who shuck the oysters can be a bit sloppy so be careful to avoid the shells! Also go for the $1 east coast here. If you want west coast, better to get from another place that offers them for a $1. They are $1.75 and very small here. Shrimp corn dogs are yum!
Ive been to Mermaid Inn numerous times. I go on Mondays when they have their $1 oysters and drink specials. The oysters are always fresh and I am obsessed with the shrimp dogs,Fish tacos, and the Calamari. I like the seats in the garden in the back. It’s very relaxing. They have a ginger drink that I do like and they’re beer is really good also. If you are looking for place to go to after work on Mondays, this place to go!
Excellent seafood and New England crab shack ambience. Happy hour specials are great but I go just before it ends for a deal on drinks or calamari and then happy it clears it some. Lobster Roll is excellent.
I came here for dinner with a friend and had the trout dish. It was yummy, but I ordered the dish in hopes it would be hearty enough to fill me up, and the amount of potatoes in the meal was a bit lacking. We ordered a side of fries. We missed the happy hour and it seems their happy hour offering is worth tryng out. I had the aperol spritz cocktail, and to be honest it was a bit too pungent for my taste. I did enjoy the atmosphere here though. Its inviting and unpretentious. Further, they offer a complimentary chocolate mousse at the end of the meal and a fortune teller fish, and you can never go wrong with free dessert and a complimentary fortune telling.
Been here a few times and like the place even though its a little overpriced and the chairs for the outside seating are really uncomfortable. Good happy hour drink and oyster specials. The fish tacos a house special for $25.00 are nothing to write home about.
Great happy hour specials. The clam strip sliders were off the hook! Lobster knuckle escargot was very good. The mini fish tacos also delicious.
Everyones talking about the happy hour deals, and with good reason! The oysters were a great deal and delicious, the happy hour apps were also great! ...BUT... The entrees while pricier were also delicious and worth it!
This place was exceptional. Celine was our waitress and her service was impeccable. Guy the manager was checking on everyone and it give that Im here to serve you and make it your best experience ever. As for the food, Im still dreaming about it, It was delicious. This place is in my top 5 restaurants. Thank you The Mermaid Inn for such an amazing time.
Sunday night Lobsterloosa, oysters on half shell, mussels are fresh & yummy. Gin Mule with lavender salt is a must try cocktail! Attractive interior with upscale comfy atmosphere & great waiters.
(west 80s) cramped and noisy but not totally unpleasant. a nice breeze but beware that the boom doesnt hit you as you come about. if youre in the aft room the waiters are aptly named. you may be waiting awhile. the food is decent although not overly flavorful. decor is nice and nautical but with this din at dinner you may prefer to be in one of those wallhangings to sitting in front of them.
Lobster roll was phenomenal. Barkats were really good. The Mac n cheese was very bland, we ended up sending it back. Nice romantic atmosphere. Friendly, accommodating service.
Best Lobster Roll in NYC. Great Happy Hour Specials. Friendly staff and bartender. $1 East Coast Oysters and $1.50 West Coast Oysters during Happy Hour and a Half. They have Social Media Passwords every Monday check their Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook to get 20% of your bill.
Was very excited to try this famous spot ... ordered mussels, pasta with clams, and grilled skate ... while the skate was decently grilled, the portion was quite lacking, and the mussels were also tiny, perhaps out of season, and lastly, the clams in the pasta also tiny and scant ... it seemed that we came to a seafood joint and ate mostly bread sticks and pasta ... very little seafood to be had ...
Great food, consistent quality and service. Lobster knuckles are divine. They do not have a dessert menu, but serve tiny espresso cups with chocolate pudding instead upon request.
Excellent food , slight wait past our reservations but the good food made up for it! Would definitely go again.
A little on the pricey side but they offer happy hour specials on oysters and clams at the bar. The food was good but nothing spectacular. I had the fish tacos.
Go for daily happy hour deals on oysters and clams on the half shell, shucked right behind the bar. Drinks are refreshing, and the baked clams and fish tacos available for happy hour are also delicious.
Gotta say, not too impressed here. I had been looking forward to dining here for a while, and chose to come here with my boyfriend for my birthday. I started with the butternut squash soup, which was good though Ive had better. For my entree, I had the blackened catfish. The hushpuppies were tasty, but the catfish was undercooked and underwhelming. In retrospect, I probably should have sent it back, but I hate doing that. My boyfriend ordered the same thing, and his catfish was undercooked as well. I love blackened catfish, but I would have been better off making it at home myself. Its a pretty simple dish to cook.We ordered the side of brussel sprouts, which were very tasty and Id definitely recommend them. Id have to say they were the highlight of the meal, which is pretty sad when youre at a nice seafood restaurant!Maybe I would go back again if someone I was with really wanted to go, but probably not. $22 is too much to pay for underwhelming seafood. Bad seafood is the worst!
This place is dope. Definitely the best of their locations. Highly recommend the outside garden as it is one of the best in the city! Happy hour gets very crowded but drink and oyster deals are good.
The Mermaid Inn has slipped in recent years. Oysters are pitifully small and tasteless. Happy hour food is fried, heavy, and unimaginative. Drinks are far too sweet; wines are so-so. Service is pleasant though intent on turning the table and sending you on your merry way asap; food comes out lightening fast.
It was a great experience. The happy hours items were delicious and you are able to try at an reasonable prices. Staffs were very attentive and friendly. I will return for more seafood
The Mermaid Inn has the freshest seafood around. If you do get a chance to go here, try the happy hour first to get a sense of the food. There are happy hours occasionally and when you do catch one, its a great deal. For starters, there are $1 east coast oysters. Other appetizers include shrimp and avocado sliders or fried clam ones. There are tasty shrimp corn dogs with slaw. Fried oysters with tartar sauce is very tasty too. There are drink specials like the Campari Spritz which has cava and campari with an orange twist. Various wine specials for $6 include red, white, rose and sparkling. Service is unparalleled and no bias whether youre getting the specials or ordering off the regular menu.
This is one of two Mermaid Inns here in NYC. This location is a bit more casual than the UWS spot. If its nice, try and grab a spot in the garden out back.On Sundays theres a lobster dinner special. Overall, non-pretentious seafood joint. And dessert is always complimentary, by the way. Little cup of chocolate moose. And have fun with the fortune teller (youll see what I mean).
We came with 6 adults 1 baby and 1 child for happy hour at 4pm. The restaurant was empty, but they said they cant accommodate us because tables are reserved for happy hour by others already. Ive called before and they said no reservations for happy hour, walk ins only. So.... Just seems like they didnt want to accommodate children.
This location only serve East coast oyster. Not half west half east as the one in Macdougal. Still a good choice for the neighborhood!
Who said you have to go all the way to Maine to find the freshest seafood?! At Mermaid Inn, they have all the sea critters you are looking for, some of them include tiny fish tacos, lobster mac n’ cheese, and dollar oysters during happy hour. The place is nice and inviting, almost as if you are sailing with them to find the freshest catch of the day. The place is big enough to hold decent size parties and most of the workers are nice. Some of the finest seafood dishes can be found right here at Mermaid Inn located in the East Village.
The Mermaid Inn never fails to deliver. Their ingredients are always fresh and seasonal. Their menu is inspired and changes often, which is nice. Service is great, location is great. Excellent for a date night.
Everything was so flavorful and beautifully presented! The best surprise is at the end :)
Fantastic food, and the happy hour is amazing!
Great happy hour seafood specials and drinks. Oysters are fresh and tasty. Salmon tartare was delicious too.
Fresh oysters, fried oyster, fried calamari and fish taco yum🙆
Listless waitservice where the waiter was more interested in being hip than effective and the server/busboy hadnt yet been trained (shoving plates onto the table). arctic char tartare succeeded more in rhyming than in taste; the latter was lost at sea. same for the fish tacos -- flavor free. thank goodness the oysters tasted like oysters.
An easy menu to navigate while difficult to find a weak selection. their lobster roll is superb and is part of a $20 happy hour/recession year special. cannot be beat
Amazing special of the day! 8 littleneck clams with some zucchini, corn, sausage and french fries. Our server was very kind and attentive. I will definitely be returning soon!
It’s a nice place to go for a dinner and drinks.
This place rocks! Came here for an event and the wait staff was great. Lobster Mac & cheese, fish tacos and the oysters soooo yummy! Will definitely be coming back!
Good variety of dishes; had the skate, which was tasty and well presented. The short rib sandwich with the waffle fries was over-the-top greasy but delicious.
Love the food and the atmosphere in there !
Upscale but casual seafood with a focus on oysters and spring/summer drinks. Expansive, with a decent patio and a excellent outdoor garden - menu is hit and miss, and staff is aggressively incompetent.
Had a fantastic time here for happy hour — love the drinks, oysters, atmosphere, and lobster rolls!
Lovely spot for drinks and oysters! Fresh food and a fun, casual atmosphere. Finish up with complimentary chocolate pudding and a fun fish fortune teller game.
I’d recommend it to anyone, Me and my wife went in there for our anniversary ! Bold flavors and great atmosphere music in the backgrounds. Beef round, potato noodles are a good choice
Oysters were $1.50 each for happy hour and they werent so big. Their fish tacos were amazing though.
Solid food. Great service. Wish the wine list was more expansive, but decent bottles at a decent price. Would recommend.
Came here for happy hour!! Super sweet man named billy helped me and a friend I met for snacks and drinks. Would definitely come back the food is great. Notnhuge portions but definitely nice ambience and worth indulging for!
Lobster rolls are good. Then again Ive never had bad ones. They hand out fun fishy mood rings at the end.
Very good. Service was excellent. Food is delicious. Menu not too extensive, however. Seating a bit cramped. Very noisy. Too much hard material. Needs softening a bit.
Ive been going to this place for the last 15 years their happy hour is the best you can get in the city dollar oysters amazing drinks $3 fish tacos I can go on and on and on the atmosphere the service the garden in the back where you can sit outside I mean in 15 years the consistency in this place is just fantastic as far as the service the food and the atmosphere
Oysters were decent, not fantastic, but the service staff wasn’t all that great. Felt like they were rushing us out and we didn’t appreciate that. Wouldn’t return!
Great deals on seafood throughout the week and $1 oysters during happy hour - cant go wrong!
Popped in just for oyster happy hour and a cocktail - staff squeezed us in between other reservations and were lovely
So so good. Busy Saturday evening but we managed a table on the back patio. Will definitely be back.
This place is all about the ocean. the decor makes you feel like you are in some seagoing vessel in the east village. excellent food but unfortunately no dessert.
Its a great place to eat at, for sure! Nice atmosphere and lovely staff. The food was good and the experience was delightful
Solid seafood standby with a very decent wine list ... great happy hour with attractive food and drink specials but arrive early, as it gets very crowded
Excellent vibe and great service! The food not only taste good but its served in a timely manner. Also great recommendations are given.
Some of the freshest oysters out there for oyster happy hour. Their staff is so nice and drinks are great. Great for a date night
One of my favorite lobster rolls! Download the Mermaid Inn app and rate oysters as you go.
Go here all the time. Oysters are amazing. Love it, great food as well.
Best clams and oysters. Very personable servers...not over priced
One of my faves in NYC. Excellent food and ambiance. Only four stars because some servers are snooty.
Great $1 oyster happy hour, which is almost all evening on Mondays.
Im not a huge fish lover, but the fish at the mermaid inn is fantastic. Prices are a bit higher than google maps would have you believe (think $$$, not $$).
Really great terrace, the seafood is very fresh. Great happy hour too
Overpriced for very small portions of what is otherwise great seafood. Happy hour is decent (4-7pm, $9 cocktails, $5 wine beer, $1 oysters, $3.50 fish taco), but portions for any of the happy hour foods are TINY. Even the raw bar stuff for full price is small portions, and the entrees are pretty expensive as well for what you’re getting. The servers are super nice though, ambiance is cozy, and they give you complimentary chocolate mousse for dessert...
The Mermaid Inn ran Valentines dinner like a well-oiled machine. Wonderful fare throughout, and not terribly expensive.
Awesome happy hour menu. Terrific service! Loved the fortune fish!
Really nice service and great fish food
Seafood so good, and amazing $1 oyster happy hour
Good outdoor dining spot with oyster and clam deals for happy hour
Great seafood at a reasonable price. We were there for New years Eve.
Everything they have here is just great! The service is key and with the great seafood aplenty....this place cannot be beat!
Great seafood! Everything is very fresh, and the service is amazing!
Excellent Fish But do not expect desert, they only serve chocolate pudding.
$1 oysters at happy hour. Love to sit at the bar
We had brunch and our poached eggs came out hard boiled eggs, way overcooked and not seasoned.
Monday night happy hour oysters are a great deal
Fantastic happy hour. delicious seafood and drink options.
Great happy hour, locals always seem to recommend the spot
The original Second Ave East Village location was permanently closed within the last several weeks. Other locations are still open.
Really nice staff, beautiful back patio. Good drinks.
Excellent dinner menu, but fairly pricey.
Amazing oysters. Nice ambiance. Informative waiters.
Lovely calamari salad. Great happy hour specials
Brussels sprouts, old bay fries, and a fun cocktail. Whats not to like?
Amazing food in a charming atmosphere. Grab a spot in the back if you can.
Go to for my seafood crave. Happy Hour is the deal.
Great food and service.Although a little bit too loud for my taste...
Very accommodating when we showed up late to our reservation. My advice: go during happy hour, order everything on there! It was amazing! The service was great (shout out JAMES)and the price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food we ate. The adorable little fortune teller and dessert at the end was the perfect ending. Recommend: lobster roll, crab dip, crab cake
Great happy hour, atmosphere and service.
Very noisy and crowded, but service and food excellent. Would go again.
Cute restaurant with a nice oyster happy hour.
Amazing food and service
For a long time Ive been hitting up Mermaid Inn for their awesome oyster happy hour specials, but recently went for dinner for the first time. The experience was even better. Now I know... you gotta start with the happy hour special and keep cruising.Try it! Youll like it! The waters warm!
Good oysters for happy hour
I came here for happy hour for $1 oysters and try their lobster roll. The oysters were pretty small but fresh. The lobster roll was pretty small for $26. It came with a lot of old bay fries to compensate. The pile of fries was bigger than the actual roll. I could get a better lobster roll at Lukes Lobster for ten dollars cheaper one block away.
Torn on my rating. Had dinner here a while ago and it was excellent. Cocktails perfectly mixed, nice outdoor space in the back. Recently had some oysters and a drink at happy hour and wont be doing that again. The oysters were terrible, so tiny i literally couldnt see one of them until i picked up the shell.Avoiding happy hour, but would go for dinber any time
Havent been there at regular hours but Happy Hours are incredible. If you wanna eat a few dozens of oysters @ $1.25 price tag - this is the place. Clams are even cheaper with no sacrifice to the quality. Reasonable price for the drinks... Fantastic! About to to become my regular...
Great vibes with the candles and patio. Very romantic setup! Great happy hour specials. We even got free dessert and fish fortune tellers. Must go. Great details
All night happy hour Monday! Sliders and tacos!
Come on Monday for amazing Monday/happy hour deals! You can get deals on clams/oysters, fish tacos, clam chowder, etc. The fried oyster is delicious! Also our meal ended with a free small pot of chocolate mousse. Tasty!
The Mermaid Inn has some of the best seafood dishes in the city, hands down. Their oysters are great, as are their drinks and happy hour specials. And dont forget the chocolate pudding for dessert and the fortune fish. Such a great place. It can get crowded, so be sure to make a reservation.
The waiter made a very big mistake and the wait took so long. We ordered and we got the check right after, not getting any food yet
Even better than the UWS location! Lobster knuckle escargot rocks!
Came here because I had a craving for oysters. Shared 1 dozen oysters and little neck clams each. Really fantastic Happy Hour value at $1 per mollusk. Definitely worth the visit. Excellent service.
I come here primarily for the $1 oysters and claims happy hour special from 5-7pm.Get here early as the tables fill up fast! Theres a large dining room in the back, so the spot is bigger than it seems. Service here is friendly and fast. Dont forget to try the fried clam sliders and fish tacos!I will certainly be back!
The shrimp taco is one of my favorite meal.
This is a great place to go on a date. The decor and lighting and overall ambiance are really cute. Theres a back patio for warmer nights and the main dining area is very cozy as well.Ive only been once, but I thought the service was good. The menu left a bit to be desired, but I had delicious mussels to share and a few starters. Great wine list as well.I will definitely come back.
Food was good and arrived quickly. Service was a little slow, but attentive. Overall great atmosphere and great Happy Hour specials. Outdoor seating was shaded and pleasant.
The redone space is beautiful! Love the new (giant!) bathroom. There is even a small room in the back if you have a larger group. Delicious lobster rolls, calamari salad, tuna crudo, oysters and cocktails. Really fun and friendly staff.
Overall a pleasant time for happy hour. The service was great from the waitress and the manager, was also helping the staff out. I had the sea scallops and it was delicious. The brown butter pulled all of it together. The dish was a bit small for me considering the price (one more scallop would have been nice). Also had the littleneck clams and oysters and they were amazing (Im a big fan of shellfish). Ive been to this location a few times and their Upper West Side location once. Safe to say I will return.
Come for Happy Hour on Mondays -- All Night!
Never disappoints. Plus you get a little treat at the end of your meal. Great place!! Recently the tuna & avocado crudo was amazing! The have seasonal special on blue crabs too. Good for bubbly & Oates too!! Grilled romaine is yum-O!
Always want it to be better. Oyster happy hour leaves a lot to be desired. Oysters are definitely pre shucked, old, lower quality, not very tasty. Other locations dont seem to have this problem. Again, really wish it was better.
Its amazing. The crab cake appetizer and lobster roll entre were both the best. The staff was extremely friendly even though our party was for a very extra birthday girl who wanted to change tables 3 times.
Ive been to Mermaid a couple of times now. Last time I had their lobster roll - which was quite good. This time though it was crab feast time. So good! One order included 4-5 crabs, and with a late dinner, was about all we could handle. The Old Bay fries were quite good - excellent addition. Id have liked more Old Bay all-around. If youre like me, just ask. Theyll bring you your own shaker of it ;) And I love that the meal ends with a complimentary mini-cup of chocolate pudding and a fortune fish!
Great buzzing ambiance with a solid happy hour deal for oysters. Fish tacos aren’t bad either. A must visit in East Village if you are visiting the city. There is also a new back patio area with nice sunlight.
One of my favorite seafood restaurants in the city as hits the needed things of decent seafood without too much else and in a simple decor that keeps the attitude and prices down. this location slightly more upscale than the downtown location but still very casual. also has a nice new years eve dinner. oyster selection is top notch. favorite dish is the lobster roll.
Great food! I especially enjoy the happy hour clam/oyster specials. Plus the lobster roll is delicious! The best youll get in NYC!
Best seafood in east village, hard to get a seat
When I visited Mermaid Inn, I had just missed the happy hour. Ill try and make it next time to get the half priced oysters. The entrees were good. They didnt have a dessert menu but they brought out complimentary little espresso cups of chocolate moose. Mm a nice way to end the meal. They also give a cool fish shaped mood fortune teller as a giveaway.
Better lobster rolls than pearl oyster bar.
Great happy hour deals. Portions for happy hour food are small but tasty. Always enjoy the oysters. The staff is usually on point as well. Highly recommend.
Fantastic selection of oysters and a great happy hour on weekdays until 7pm. They also have an all-night happy hour on Tues or Weds. Cant remember which day so call ahead for the details on that. If you like West coast oysters, try their Shigoku 😊
I know that everyone comes here for the oysters but I come here for the octopus. Its my favorite grilled octopus in the city. I know thats surprising but I love it. Also like the dessert chocolate at the end.
This is a go to spot for me (its a popular spot), they have happy hour food and beverages including happy hour oysters. The staff works very hard considering it can get quite full and loud - but its worth it if youre going with a friend or even a date (recommend going later in the evening for a date) because the food is quite delicious and raw bar very fresh!
Love this place with great happy hour deal.
For a seafood restaurant theyre pretty cheap with the seafood. Mussels so small it wasnt worth the effort to get them out. Lobster appetizer was way too greasy and served with season breads thats hard to chew. The main course not better than a small piece of fish on top of more hard bread.
A wonderful intimate, cozy, low-key seafood restaurant with a small dining area, classy bar, and candlelit tables. We had a number of happy hour options; $1 East Coast Oysters, $1.75 West Coast Oysters, Fried Oysters, Shrimp Corndogs, Shrimp & Avocado Sliders, and Fried Clam & Coleslaw Sliders. They also offer an array of specialty cocktails for $7 each. Their Monday night happy hour runs all-night. Happy hour runs from 5-7PM Tues-Fri and 4-7PM Sat-Sun.
Favorite happy hour in the city. Great food and drink options. Patio is great in the summer as well.
Best martini and oyster HH in EV.
Amazing service with great food!!! Nice place to have discussion!!!!
Their social media Monday deals are great (check twitter and FB!) as are their happy hours. Delicious, fresh oysters. Their old bay fries are addicting. Cant miss the truffle lobster mac n cheese - its hidden in the sides menu.
My boyfriend and I love going here. The prices are unmatched and the quality of food is unparalleled in its genre. Its a romantic place, really. Great staff.
I dont like seafood, but I loved the service in this place. Very attentive and engaging servers. They really helped create a welcoming environment.
Fantastic restaurant. The lobster roll is really good and I am always happy with the happy hour specials they have!
I usually drop by for happy hour. Theyve got a great menu during that time with $1 oysters, yummy shrimp sliders, and great cocktails. Theres usually a high volume during that time period so try to get there as soon as you can!
It is a great place! Loved the oysters and the mussels! Its quiet and a nice place to share with friends! Service is also very nice.
Fun spot - good food... lively atmosphere.
Went in for happy hour on a Sunday night and half the restaurant was empty but we were told it would be a 35 minute wait. What??? We ended up walking South to Hill and Dale and sat right down on a leather couch, their oysters were cheaper, and the people much friendlier!
Fresh and yummy!Try the sampler platter, it is to die for. Oysters, clams, crabs, lobsters. It varies but is terrific on a summer day with one of their delicious beers.Have been many times for dinner and havent had a bad dish yet.Did I mention free pudding at the end?Cant miss there!
Great seafood restaurant on the uws. great location. nice to see an affordable seafood restaurant in my neighborhood. good service and food. love their red fish that you receive after your meal.
Oyster happy hour is worth the hype. Barcat oysters for 1.25. Despite only going for happy hour our server was very attentive and nice. Small section of outdoor seating so get there early. People wait un line for this place to open for good reason. Also had the fish taco, shrimp corn dog and lobster knuckles escargot style. Everything was delicious.
I love this place. The $1 happy hour oysters and clams is the best. The staff are charming.
Luv this place, the food is excellent, and the service could not be nicer. the room(s) are oddly configured, but they make the best of it. they have lots of specials, so get on their mailing list to get queued. this location is my fave of the 3.
Wonderful service. Delicious food + cocktails. GREAT oyster happy hour
Food was average. Too crowd too noisy and too stuffy to sit in.
Im a big fan of their oyster happy hour. Two varieties for $1 a piece every day plus happy hour cocktail specials and a variety of other food specials. Great quality oysters here.
Check out the oyster happy hour.
A bit cramped but well-worth the squish for fresh fish creatively prepared.
Came here with three friends. We decided to share a dozen oysters and 4 smaller plates. The oysters were delish and the octopus dish they had was superb. Everything else was average or better. We paid about 33 a head between 3 ppl. 4 stars
Excellent happy hour available throughout the restaurant. Sit at a table and get pot de creme. YUM!
Good sea food. Great place for a date night.
Happy hours for oyster - $1 for an oyster and cheaper price for a few appetizers and drinks! Great place to hang out with friends.
We enjoyed our night here at the Mermaid Inn with friends. They have an open backyard which is super cute.
Meh... Service is good but whatever. Not really remembering the awesome...
Fresh and delicious food, artfully presented by attentive mermaids and mermen. Needs a few more fish entrees.
Awesome happy hours and great service.
Easter dinner was fantastic. Oyster, claims and everything else was perfect. The wait staff as wonderful too.
Have never had a bad experience, food is always delicious and the happy hour specials are at the very minimum worth a stop
Excellent quality seafood, attentive service and quick turnaround. Im really impressed and I had a terrific and tasty meal in a relaxed environment.
Good happy hour. Ok cocktail drinks
*This is a review for the event space only*I went here for a saturday night house music show. The venue is great, light security, good party vibe, stage, dance floor, coat check, cleaner bathrooms than most divey places. Was a fun party, laid back, great place for a techno show. Attracts a lot of hipsters though (had no idea they even listened to house music). I would definitely would go another show here, totally worth it.
I really like this place. Seafood is good (lobster is great) and you still can talk with friends (not too loud).
1$ Oysters for Happy Hour, before 7pm. Delicious entrees, with just the right portions. The menu isnt too large, though. Be sure to look up the menu before going, to make sure theres something you want to eat.
Good food, good service. Honestly I’ve had better rolls at Luke’s lobster round the corner
Great neighborhood fish place. and really comfortable booths.
Love the happy hour menu! Oysters are always delish. Wish they would bring back some of the old hh cocktails (Tom Collins). Always have a great time here.
So delish!! love the oysters!!
Such a nice date night place. Lisa is so sweet and accommodating. Request her!!
The oysters, lobster mac-n-cheese, fish tacos and brussel sprouts are outstanding! The service was impeccable. I went for a private event, so I have no idea how the prices are or what the service is like in the main dining room.
Food was good and so was the service. Great happy hour prices.
