Cool bar comedy club. Bartender John is fantastic. Super friendly and good man. The drinks were great and needed on this cold winter day. I gotta have my Guinness and Jameson whenever im in NYC. We stayed a lot longer and drank more because of John. Thank you.
I love this spot!!!! I worked in the area years ago; 2014/2015 to be close to exact and came in to check my guy Pete!!!! I keep missing him but tonight I met my new guy Sean & hes a beast like Pete and i saw my homie Carlos; he recognized from 8 plus years ago & i mess with that!!! Great atmosphere and service!!! Ask for Pete or Sean and tell them DAVID sent ya!!!!PETe, Carlos & SeAn!!!
I came here on June 1st for a comedy show without any planning. I walked past the bar and two men were advertising a comedy show for $20 cash. I saw after the fact that tickets are $10 online and was charged $20 at the door. I am not complaining well worth. Just wish I would’ve known sooner. Definitely funnier after drinking some. I believe there’s a two drink minimum. The comedians were funny I suppose not the best in the world but we definitely did laugh a lot and have a great time. Nice venue. Friendly bartenders. The comedians really engaged with the audience. This was my first comedy show and I would love to go to more in the future after this wonderful introduction.
This is a great bar, they dont have a food menu but they allow you to eat take outs here. The drinks are strong and the bartenders are friendly. Their beer shot combos for $10 are the best. There is also a comedy club at the end of the bar with great line ups and$20 for almost 2 hour shows.
Went there to see a comedy show, as our other plans got cancelled and had a few free hours. All of the acts were Terrible. Not even remotely funny. It was a show of like 8 guys and 1 girl, and literally all of their jokes were about me not finding them funny. Like literally all of them used 90% of their time to bother me, saying the same things, one right after the other. Like is that your creative limits? And also nobody else was finding that funny as well. The drinks were also pretty much terrible and too expensive, and they informed us after we bought the tickets that we must buy 2 drinks.
Lovely atmosphere, great service by the staff, nice beers and other costumers where so kind and happy to talk and mingle.I went to the Comic Show and it was 1h and half show for 20$ and you have to buy two drinks that was not a problem at all, I was planning anyway to have a couple of beers. There was a fun host that introduced 6-7 different comedians and all of them were funny with jokes and how they delivered them.10/10 would visit again
Great comedy club. Enjoyed a Vanilla Cherry Coke cocktail.
Great drinks and great service, happy hour prices are some of the best in the city!
Unfunny comedians, they all begged for a follow, $20 to get in and they forced you to buy 2 drinks once you got in. Total tourist scam by drunk self stupidly fell for. Do yourself a favor and skip this place you ain’t missing anything.,
Hard to review this place based on the comedy as your experience will vary. But this is what you would expect from a nyc comedy club, and this is where you go when you cant get into the Cellar.Prices are good for beer and drinks. Toilets are fresh. Comedy is on average funny. Recommend.
Stop by here on a whim and was disappointed at all. They were having a comedy show paid 2 bucks and laughed alot lol. Drink was good had the strawberry mojito. I tried to get all the performers name but couldnt. They were all funny. I can see me going back there. Stop by if you in the area
Been here twice for the evening 10 and 20 dollar comedy shows. For something you can just walk into last minute for that price, amazing. Platter of different flavors of humor every time and both times the host was fire. Great line up and way to get to know upcoming comics. I’ll definitely be back.
Were from Texas and this spot was right up our alley - just a small bar with friendly staff and patrons. A room for comedy is in the back so we paid $10 to check out some local acts. We would definitely return.
AMAZING!!!! NICE COMEDIANS PEOPLE!!! CREW ,SERVICE AND DRINK!!!! REASONABLE PRICES!!!! FOR ALL PEOPLE!!!! GOOD SHOW. AT NIGTH!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! ILL BE BACK SOON!!!
I enjoyed the club on a late night by my self as I was having some great priced drinks . It was very underground and I loved it !
Popped in for a pint of Guinness and wasnt disappointed. Sean was a very attentive bar man and put on some local Irish tunes. Met some great people mostly local to the area. Needless to say we ended up with more than one pint......lovely friendly bar reasonably priced, would recommend. We didnt have food or go to the comedy club so cant comment on them 👌 👍. Thanks Sean 😊
Had the best time here last weekend. The Staff were super friendly and the Comedians were hilarious. We were able to walk in and get tickets as the show was starting. People are sleeping on this place. I’ll be back for sure.
Maybe we were unlucky but the show was not great at all. This wasn’t helped by how rude the some of the staff were. The guy who showed us to the tables was very rude and even though many tables were empty, wouldn’t let us move tables. Also, bring a coat as its cold inside. For the same price there are better shows in greenwich.
Back room comedy club seeing new comics and/or new material. The night was hit and miss, but thank goodness for the MC, as she was the funniest of them all.I brought friends from out of town, and they enjoyed the show, so...mission accomplished. I will probably go back again if there are more known comics, but for the price, its worth the night.
Came here last minute for a show on Sep 10.. tried to get into the Comedy Cellar but they were sold out so we came here instead. For the price of about $20, it was such an enjoyable and unique experience. The whole set up is very casual, and grassroots with usually the host helping set up seating and warming up the crowd. I think we sat through about 6 comedy acts in the span of 2 hours and every one was enjoyable, all with their own style of crowd work. Be ready to be called or picked on, my date was not and it made for a great moment in the show. Please come here, its worth the whole experience even if you just watch the hustle and bustle of McDougal street during their show times.Would totally go back.
The comics on the night I attended were okay, but perhaps not really for me. The reason for my low score is because we were charged $20 a person at the door, when tickets online are $10 a person. This was disappointing to learn as there were maybe 15 people in the room total and several open tables and chairs. The tickets at the door should have been half price.
Small little comedy club in the back of a classic little dive bar. You can bring in your own food! Cheap tickets for a night of fun laughs with a bunch of different up and coming comedians. We had a blast and Macdougal Street has everything for before or afterwards.
Pretty amazing place with friendly bartender (the guy we had anyways) and fun vibe. The comics were next level 😄
Went for the comedy and was not disappointed! $20 admission, drinks are ~$12 each and tasty, and we ordered 1-2 drinks per person. I laughed so hard that my cheeks ached and had an overall good time. Im definitely bringing my friends here in the future!
My friends and I visited the comedy show at Grizzles for the first time. One of the rules for being there was to order a minimum of 2 drinks… that was not clearly informed to us before buying our tickets. During the show a lady with an afro puff asked us what wanted to drink, we already had drink prior at they’re bar and didn’t want another. She told us if was mandatory. My friends & I are 21 & driving, we’re not having 3 drinks😭. She told us if we’re not buying drinks to get out and leave. Totally understand she was doing her job getting people to buy drinks. Her attitude was horrible while bobbing her head, using hand gestures and there was no sympathy or understanding from any other staff.Perhaps she was having a bad day, hope she’s well now. Drinks were okay:)
Reserved a ticket for a comedy show on 26 March 2024 and it was canceled. No comms was sent regarding it so after schlepping to what was supposed to be a 10pm showing, was told to email for a refund. No one has replied or processed the refund so guess that despite living in NYC since 1999, Ive finally been conned.
Nicest staff, great vibe and hilarious comedy! Highly recommend
My boyfriend and I went there for our anniversary last Saturday and had a blast ! Bartender Tyler took care of us like we were superstars ! All the other stuff members, especially Sol (hope I spelled it right ) were nice and friendly as well. It was an awesome experience. Comedians were fun too ! We stayed for two shows in a row ! Definitely will be back soon ! Definitely RECOMMEND!
Great drinks, good prices. Amazing staff, very friendly and personable. Outstanding comedians, we enjoyed the first show so much we bought tickets for the next show too! Here it is 8 am the next morning and Im still giggling about some of the jokes. We had a great time!
Maybe you are a tourist and didnt get in to the comedy cellar and on a way to subway somebody asked if you want to see a comedy show and now you are checking the reviews. Go! It was fun, it takes around 1,5h, each comedian 10 minutes. Entry was 20$ (Saturday night) plus 1 drink (beer 8$). I would only wish that this place would promote comedians more, it was hard to catch their names and I would like to follow some of them online, but i cannot find the list anywhere
Great place for good cheap drinks and hilarious comedians. I have been several times and have not been disappointed in my experience. Kenny runs the comedy show and he brings the funniest comedians to the stage. I definitely recommend this place if you want a great experience that will have you falling out your seat laughing and chocolate wasted with money in your pockets afterward for more fun. You have to visit the Grisly Pear.
Yesterday went to the comedy show with friends. Thank God was smart enough not to purchase the tickets on any celebratory occasion. Comedians did not seem to be prepared, and because we were at the front seat, we got all the unnecessary comments about the political stereotypical status of our countries, which were less than basic, and quite opinion based, racist. If one cannot comment on anything before googling it, doesn’t it prove the fact how unprepared and far from being intelligent your pitch is?Have to say that the day before we went for another comedian show in NYC, and it was a blast. Thanks for ruining the experience, now no much desire to visit comedy show within this vacation, will rather spend this money on alcohol!Cheers!
Super cozy bar and lounge, comedians were hilarious. Great vibe
Gary and the staff run a great bar and the comedy shows are a blast. Check em out if youre ever in the area. Very powerful.
Great prices on cocktails, the bartender is funny and very communicative. He makes sure you leave a happy person. I had an amazing time there. There is a comedian spot in the back.... people arent really funny but once you get a fee drinks In you theyre hilarious. Just a great spot in total.
Avoid this place!!! Go next door where they always have enough attendees. They cancelled the show due to only 2 tickets sold and waited 40 minutes to cancel. The obnoxious kid Matt had nothing but attitude when I asked for my money back. Avoid this place! I never got my money back. He told me I had to email people to get my money back.
Great place to get some drinks and watch newbies trying to become comics. Its hilarious. Some are funny, and its funny watching the others trying to become funny. Its all in good fun, they do like 15 minutes and everybody has a laugh. Very casual atmosphere. If you ever wanted to try doing stand up comedy, they would probably let you give it a shot here.
This place used to be amazing for what it was - comedy was free and there were unbelievably potent frozen margs for $5, but since Covid prices have raised (as they have everywhere) - and unfortunately this place is no longer worth it for a $20 entry and a two drink minimum. Acoustics are really bad as there’s a busy bar just behind the comedy area, so unless you’re sitting right up front you can barely hear the comics. Now the price is the same as any mainstream comedy place, I’ll give it a miss.
The comedians were HILARIOUS. We initially were gonna go to the more advertised Comedy Cellar, but the line was too long and there was no way wed make it with no ressie. We took a chance of going here, and they were amazing. Dont go in looking to be offended, they are professional comedians. Drinks were reasonably priced as well.
These guys made everyone wait and then cancelled the comedy show because online bookings didnt show up
Sunday night 10pm comedy show.Yall got to do better, man. 1/7 comics was funny. The rest, please work on your confidence and/or material. If you dont believe in your jokes, why would I?Ian the bartender, youre a good guy. Cheers.
Worst comedy weve ever seen. There was nothing clever, creative or witty about any of the acts. The Italian woman comedian tried her best as did the emcee, but the male performers were all woeful, resorting to tired racist, misogynist, homophobic, crude and stupid cliches. Jokes that vilify the homeless, are anti-semitic or encourage wife-beating are not cool or edgy - theyre just offensive and boring.
Burnt burger but cheap beer at happy hour makes up for it. Comedy is hit and miss. Overall a fun night out
We stumbled upon this place after striking out and not getting stand-by tickets for the comedy cellar. We eventually ended up at 3 different comedy clubs that night, and the 6pm show we saw here was by far our favorite of the night! So much so that we stopped back to see part of the midnight show! (mostly different comics, although we did see one at midnight that we had seen at 8pm elsewhere. such is the comedy circuit!)Definitely will come here again, comics were great and audience was full of great people that helped make the show even more enjoyable.
Great for what it is. If you have tickets to the Comedy Cellar and are cool paying for expensive tickets, go there but if you want a more chill vibe with funny up and coming NYC comics and reasonably priced drinks then the Pear is awesome.Comics are funny. They talk about adult topics of sex, race, parents, subways and other good stuff. Venue is somewhat small so you can often get up close to comedians and have a much more intimate show than at a big venue.Drinks are reasonably price. Seltzers are $2 or $3 and beers are pretty cheap. If you want to come and drink + laugh in a chill atmosphere this is a good place to go.
Went to see 6 stand up skits, ended up getting 2 bonus skits as well. Had some pretty big names. The comedians were all awesome. Good drinks at a reasonable price. Glad I went.
The bar was okay. We were only there because we were lured in by the inexpensive cover charge. The standup show was lacking on all levels. It was like listening to someone reading out YouTube comments section. The comedians were not prepared, the jokes were not smart and there was no flow, it was all blabbering about nothing for two hours. Not recommended.
They earned at lest a star due to the only lady who made is laugh tonight. She was amazing. Except that lady we hated it. The jokes were terrible most of the time targeting the audience which made us feel uncomfortable. We went for having a good time but ended up having a terrible night. Also make sure that you see them making your drinks as they might put lime and water and give you as a cocktail. Never again and would not recommend to anyone!!!
One of many comedy clubs in the area. We went on a week night with about 15 up and comers. As you would expect the quality ranged from 1 to 10 but we had a great time.
I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a group. The drinks are, in fact cheap, if thats what youre looking for.My problem was the bartender. I didnt catch his name, but he was probably 56 and bald. Every time he walked by us he insisted on touching me-- my waist, the small of my back, my legs, I moved several times to avoid him. When he brought me and my friend our round, he asked if he got the order wrong, we said no, and he leaned in to kiss me. Are you serious? Im a customer. Do not touch me. And yes, I did tell him to stop, multiple times.$4 beers is not worth being handled by the staff. Drink elsewhere.
I was with my brother and parents the other night, really funny and mature jokes, I would recommend this place to 14 and older they might not understand the jokes but more or less it was the best comedy and first I went to and they where very kind.
I personally dislike karaoke but visited for a friends birthday. Atmosphere is enjoyable for karaoke lovers. Staff is very nice. Bouncers are welcoming. You can bring in your food.
So we came here after coming from wicked Willys. We had an awesome time, although the reason why I am writing this review is because of the bouncer. It was closing time so we are getting ready to leave, however, the bouncer told us we had to go, and physically pushed us out with the beers in our hands and said we had to go. We were honestly leaving and this guy just physically shoved us out the door saying its closed! I was so appalled , we recorded on our phones because of how shocked we were, Ive never been treated this way. Will never be coming back here.
I went to Grisly Pear last night & I laughed so much!!!The host was interacting with the audience participating & cheering also which was pretty cool & very fun!!!What I liked is only 1 drink required & you choose how much tip you want to give..
Not a comic’s fault I was dragged here by someone on the street for $10. But definitely worth checking out the Comedy Cellar if you get the chance.I’m sure I could’ve just walked into the back room to avoid the cover charge.Awful hecklers/commenters in the crowd, just kick them out next time…
Comedy show didnt start
I ordered a Guinness, bartender told me it was $8. They ended up charging me $28 for some reason. I would have argued but I had to rush out so I just paid.Note: This was after I already paid a $20 cash cover charge for the standup show. So I was billed $48 plus tip.
Standard 2 drink minimum no pressure to order alcohol. Alcohol was affordable for the area. Fun night out.
Comedy Club gets better every week. Great place to see new and seasoned comics. Cheap drinks, and theyre chill about you bringing in food from outside.Update: New management. Not great anymore.
I perform at The Pear a few times a month and since new management took over, the place has done a complete 180. New sound system, new lighting, new comics. In just a year, it’s become one of the hottest rooms in the city and a place where every comic wants to be. Thanks again!
Always a great time with great people. So happy to see the grizzly pear still open in the west village after so many places shut down due to covid. Cant forget about the comedy shows still going on. If your in the area and looking for some snacks a few drinks and some great laughs. The grizzly pear.
In my opinion, this is how a bar should be: small and inconspicuous. The drinks arent watered down and the service is fine (nothing special). Theres even a free comedy club in the back, but I have yet to attend one of the shows.
We Enjoyed everything except when we check into the comedy show the waitress stated the we had to use our credit card for drinks when I wanted to pay in cash.
The Grisly pear is located close to West 4 subway station and it has very few seating. This place is often crowded and limited table service. They have a good selection of draft and loud music, but the area has a lot of options though, so you could check out this place during your pub hopping trial.
Very fun and easy dive bar. Carter is a great bartender. Comedy at night! Good drink deals as early as 11am.
Love going to see comedy here!! Menuhin Hart is one of my favs Ive seen him there along with a lot of other amazing comedians. Good drinks cool vibes.
SHAWN IS THE BEST
Came in here one night because we didnt want to go on over to Off the Wagon. You can usually get a table here to drink with friends, which is nice, typical dive bar beyond that.
After Pete told me and my friend to come here, we enjoyed ourselves. Great comedy and great location! In par with the Comedy Cellar! Service was awesome too!
Great bar with plenty of drink options. The staff is friendly and always looking to try new drink recipes on their customers. Karaoke on the weekends is insanely fun. Very good DJ.
Dani Reidel killed, I was bellowing so loud I kept getting looks. I remember another awesome comedian came down out of nowhere & that was cool
Found this great NYC bar by accident. Was introduced to one of the most personable bar tenders (Sam). Great service, foot, beverages.
They have excellent service and there are funny and good stand-up shows
They allow you to eat takeoutsolid bar, dont expect super high end
The owners do not know how to treat their regular patrons, especially when they get drunk on the premises. The force their staff to overlook providing service to the customers in order to cater to their friends.
What a great place! The comics were awesome and there were several. I actually attended two shows after seeing one at the Comedy Cellar, and I had as much fun. Plus, the bartenders were down to earth and made conversation easy. The drinks were great, too.My only complaint is that the crowd can be hit and miss. A gaggle of sorority twits who dont get half the jokes can be frustrating. but the emcee knew exactly how to engage them so the rest of us could laugh.Check it out! The cover charge is worth it.
That bearded bartender…the Irish Amish one. He’s great! He told me I’m an ugly 19 year old, but a hot 30 year old! #CumForSean
Great atmosphere! Try out the live comedy event - it had great line up. Was fun.
Fun times at their comedy club, great prices on happy hour drafts.
It was worth the $10. Amateur comedians worth seeing. I just love the psychology really. Tables are super sticky.
The MC was hilarious but the rest of the comedians were mediocre if not straight up bad (and creepy). $8 for a beer in a plastic cup
Comedy show was surprisingly decent. Malorie you were on point!
Quintessential NYC comedy club featuring short, witty acts by a sharp group of stand-ups. Be sure to catch Andrea Jones-Rooy!
Great bar. Im from Iowa and was welcomed and felt like I was a at home. Highly recommend the comedy show
Good time overall and funny. Would rate 5 out of 5 but give it a 4 because I ordered a Suntori but it tasted more like a Suntoriyaki!
One of my favorite comedy shows that I’ve been to was at the pear. Cheap drinks, cheap tickets and wonderful comedians always keeps me coming back!
Great small bar that seems to have a dedicated group of drinkers and fun bartenders. Very friendly and mixed drink was made well.
Local pub vibes with comedy in the back room. Good Saturday night in the middle of the chaos that is this area
The Grisly Pear offers a lot of opportunities for us comedians to hone our craft .And the puby can come EnJOY GREAT and raw Free Comedy shows, daily.
A low key and comfortable place to grab a drink! lively but not too loud, and separation of the karaoke and bar area
Day crowd is laid back, nice and cool inside (good A/C), friendly bartender
Nice place to see up and coming young comedians! Show had 6 comedians and an MC. One drink minimum and a cover. If you cant get into Comedy Cellar go to Grisly Pear! to paraphrase one of the comics - its funny cuz its true
Was a great time & definitely would come back. 🍐🗡
Always have a blast when I go, so many amazing comics come through this place. 100% recommend.
Good for a few laughs but I would have been crazy to pay the ticket prices on the website considering the level of talent that night. Glad we waited and got them at a fraction of the price at the door.
One of the best place! It was New years Eve with no cover !Free Comedy show followed by Karaoke until 4 Am!Reasonably priced drinks with great value offers!Awesome staff and happening crowd!
Good place to have drinks and very cool comedy show! Had a great time here
Very friendly pub with a free stand up comedy show at 8pm. Average prices & nice environment.
Exceptional dive bar. Cold beer. Dope bartenders. Good vibe.
Have come to a couple of comedy shows here- great time :)
Nice bar, the atmosphere is great. There was 2000s music playing at decent enjoyable level, crowded but it was Friday and it also felt safe!
Great place to go to for comedy, just give the comedians a chance instead of being a dbag and let them do their jokes. Good atmosphere vibe and service 👍🏾
Entertainers were amazing. Would definitely pay top dollar
Great local bar. Owner is awesome. Good prices and fun times.
Your classic new York bar spot. Perfect for starting a night off. Super nice bartenders, too.
I came for the comedy show, the bar tenders were super friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back next time I’m in town
Nice place. Great service . comedy club ( with extra charges ) was fun !
I paid $50 and couldnt get into the show - I lost the $50. The men outside laughed at me and wouldnt let me in because I was 5 minutes late. I do get that it says to be 15 mins early - but no one controls the trains in NYC. I wouldnt recommend it - its not worth the disrespect. There are plenty of other things to do in NYC where you dont have to stress about disrespectful men laughing at you because you were 5 minutes late to a show you paid $50 for. Id rather sit on my couch, save $50 and be respected. Will never do that again and I will not recommend to any of my friends.
Great service.. would definitely recommend to visit at least once..
Awesome local bar! Come for the drink specials (one beer and one shot for $10) and stay for the comedy. They bring in many actors for each show so one actor never gets to stale. Have never walked away disappointed!
We nipped in to cool down on a hot Saturday afternoon, after having a great experience in the sister venue in midtown we decided to give this place a try.It had such a nice laid back environment, with very friendly staff and the background music was excellent. It was a great place to unwind after full on days of taking in the sights of the city. I will be recommending it to anyone I know who is visiting the city.
Great bar for a couple beers and semi professional comedy!
1st time visit! Cool place, Id go again. Bartender was right on!
If you are going to the comedy club DONT SIT IN THE BACK. You cant hear anything and they charge you as much as a real comedy club.
Nice crowd, great bar temders, could be a bit less pricey,
I have been coming here over 10 years love this place ❤️❤️ miss the food
Love the bartenders great vibes and comedy show was fun.
I didn’t get any food, but their drinks were good. I had the classic mojito and tried the vanilla cherry coke 10/10.
Great beer comedy was great.
Accidentally gave one star owner almost killed me!! Cheers
Ive been to both their locations. Last night, I did their happy hour show. It was only $5, and I enjoyed the show. They said happy hour was over at the bar, which is weird. I was glad I still got a bud light draft for a decent deal. Lots of comedians. They just kept it running with one after the other for the whole time. I would absolutely go back.
Insane happy hour, free comedy and great bartenders.
We did an earlier show for $10 and bought one drink. For 1 1/2 hours of entertainment, that’s a pretty good value. There were some hit or miss comics, but that is everywhere. Service was slow but very friendly. We got there early and asked for seats on the side. Floor seats are awkwardly lined up in a perfect row so I’d recommend trying to get to the side if you can.
The comedians were good, some even great, but it is a shame we couldnt hear literally 30 minutes out of the 90 minutes show because the waitress has the worst problem solving skills Ive ever seen in an adult. She was either having a really bad day or just doesnt have basic social skills and couldnt leave us enjoying the show before discussing. She ended up distracting a bunch of people around us, making the entire situation as awkward as possible and creating a bad experience out of what could be a great evening. When we bought tickets, nobody told us there was a minimum purchase of 2 items per person. They do not sell food, and I dont drink alcohol. I didnt want to order anything to drink. I proposed tipping instead of ordering drinks that would go to waste, but the waitress said it was absolutely mandatory to purchase 2 drinks per person, and she would not leave our side until we ordered so. After missing out 2 of the 6 comedians she finally proposed that I ordered bottles of water, what ended up being much less money for them, proving my point that we could have that sorted out AFTER the show I payed to see, and ruining the experience. If you are not aiming to drink, avoid this club. The lack of snacks, food, good personnel, and silence during the show resulted in this solid 1-star review.
Literally no one was funny. It was very awkward to watch. And they kept blaming the crowd for being stiff. No one was stiff they just were not funny.
The Grisly Pear is a great Comedy Club, n I suggest them to book Mr. Tom Kelly. Great Food n Drinks n Servicer are so cool. Will go back.
Best stand up comedy to date and great drink prices
Great value for money! Nice people and good laughs, everything was perfect, will come back, thanks!
A decent dive bar in the West Village that offers cheap drinks and comedy shows.
Happy hour was on, drinks were cold and the people were nice. What else can you ask for? Keep in mind this is not a high end place, they can make drinks but if you’re looking for something crazy go to a different cocktail bar and get your $18 drinks.
Good bar that wasnt super packed when we went
Cheap drinks, comedy and nice bartenders 😉 - what more could ya want?!
$8 for a shot and beer. A tall boy at that. And they have comedy in the back!
We enjoyed very much our visit. It was quite fun and we managed to capture the atmosphere of a comedy club. The bar at the entrance and the lounge with some tables and chairs and a small stage was authentic.
Watched the standup comedy. It was pretty good. The up and coming comics were soliciting the tickets themselves and most were pretty good. We saw a total of 8 of them from across the country and with diverse styles. It’s an intimate setting. Sit at the front seats and get roasted for sure fun.
Went to the comedy show with my friends. Terrible experience.Racist jokes. No borders. Comedians as they call themselves donteven know or can handle the work with the crowd. The only thingthat guy was able to do is to make some racist comment towardsme and thats all. Very offensive, disrespectful and rude. Like really what is wrong with you. If you do not know what to say, just do not say anything. Very disappointed.Do not recommend.
Best place to see up and coming comics in the city. Great and vast variety of comics perfectly curated by the phenomenal people that run the place. To top it all off you can bring your own food and drink prices are more than affordable.
Dont let a comedian named Jocelyn Chia perform here
This bar was suchhhh a good vibe I’ll definitely go back
Great prices, authentic vibe, comedy every night.
We had a great night . The comedians were all funny and there are so many. They all get about 10-15 minutes each. We liked it so much we stayed for a second show. Well definitely be back .
One of my favorite comedy clubs and dive bars. good people and better shows!
Friendly staff, decent place
My favorite place for a casual night out. The bartenders are the nicest people in the city, and the comedy shows never disappoint when I have friends in town. Very affordable for the neighborhood.
This place is historic. Great vibe and lovely drinks.
Amazing food and drinks, The comedy show was HALIROIUS definitely worth the 20$. The atmosphere was awesome. My next trip to NYC i will be coming back!!! THANK YOU ALL for making my first New York Comedy Club trip awesome!
Surprisingly good stand-up and moderate drink prices
This place is great, Sam was my bartender which is also my name lol had a great time! The food is great and the drinks too! Would definitely come back!
Sean takes care of you like no other. Great place
We came here for the standup show, we tried to go to comedy cellar but they were completely booked out and we were sold tickets for 8pm. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I was laughing so hard, had a really good time $20 cover and two drink minimum and I’m so glad we decided to give it a shot. I will be back next time in NYC.
Comedy show for a good price! Good drink deals!
Great music. Very lit place..and trendy vibe.
This place is awful it’s a tourist trap. The headliner said she doesn’t clean the oven at home because she is Jewish. Poor low brow humor. Rude servers. Gross bathrooms. Stay away.
Nice place. Drinks are reasonably priced. We went there for the comedy show and it was late so no food -- which is the worst thing I could say about the place. The comedians were mostly funny. The staff was attentive and quick. Would definitely be going back.
Went on a Thursday night for comedy. There was 8 people in the crowd, all the comedians seemed super nervous. Not a single person in the crowd laughed in 1.5 hours. Every joke was about killing themselves, abortion, and racism. Not funny at all. Big L.
Easily the worst comedy I have ever seen. Racist comedians, poor service, and horribly overpriced.
First time ever at a comedy bar and honestly, the comedians were terrible, I wanted to leave after about the third comedian, the service was so poor as well, I missed the second to last comedian because the server was trying to sort out our tab rather than waiting till the end of the show, it says no refunds but a comedy club is supposed to make you laugh, not want to fall asleep
My first comedy night, and it was a great bar and a safe place on a Saturday night to start it with
Fun dive bar. Reasonably priced drinks.
Such a wonderful experience here. So much better than Comedy Cellar and the people here are infinitely nicer and more professional.
This is was shockingly cool, the bar could do with a face lift but its a fun time. Rhe comedy shows are a good place to start up. 👌 i would definitely be back to check up on some.budding artist.
Best bar in the city. Hands down. Decent selection of beers, great bar food, and friendly staff. Very cozy, especially in the winter. Theres comedy in the back if your friends get boring. This is the kind of place that you can grab a seat at the bar, and post up for the day.
Ive been here a couple of times but have only spent time in the bar area. I have yet to take advantage of the comedy in the back. But the drinks are good, the happy hour specials are good, the staff is great. Highly recommend this place. Its a small bar but its a nice bar downtown to just hang out and chat.Because of its small size though, if it gets crowded, or some patrons get a little too much alcohol in them, it could get quite loud.
Nice bar, watched an enjoyable comedy show here.
Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Not so good food.
Understaffed and terrible establishment. Awful service, you’ll go the whole show without a beverage. Comics are hit or miss. Avoid and go elsewhere
Good value happy hour. Good student atmosphere in the bar. Attentive service. Comedy show was generally fun but they frontloaded the best acts so it dragged a little bit at the end. MC was hilarious.
My family and I went here this evening and had a very enjoyable time. My daughter who doesn’t drive had a NY State issued ID with her photo and birthdate which was rudely rejected by a different venue down the streetThe GrIsley Pair was happy to accommodate us even at the last minute without prior reservations. Very impressed with the staff and quality of customer service ! Thank you 🙏
We had a good comedy stand-up experience, laughed a lot, and also had some drinks. Overall we recommend the place, and we may come back again.
I did not visit for the bar but the comedy club in the back. The comedians were pretty good but the design of the place just doesnt allow them to shine like they could. I sat in the back and all I could hear were loud bar customers. There was a heater right behind my chair which was blasting heat so much I had to leave early. I can say that the service was great and most of the crowd sitting closer to the stage had a great time.
Bartender stole my credit card and licence and used it to go shopping....do not go to this place!
Really chill bar. Very clean restrooms and bar. In the back is a comedy club that has had awesome well known and new comedians. This is a great place to visit. The staff is friendly af. Sean was my bartender and he made me feel like I was welcome. The beers are fresh too!
Horrible comedy show. The host made r*pe jokes and jokes about being ret**det, followed by really racist jokes. You can joke about almost anything, but you have to have some skill to do that. This was just pathetic. The bar itself is good though and the bartender was great.
Funny comedy show, reasonably priced drinks.
Shareef is AMAZING!!!!
Brilliant pub / comedy venue, highly recommended
Its a bar you come to drink, dont expect anything fancy. Come and get beer and watch the game. They have a large selection of drinks and great deals almost every night. Theres also a live comedy show in the back, so you could grab a few drinks then go to the back and grab a few more while listening to some jokes. The bartenders and wait staff are also very friendly and funny which makes this bar all the better to go to.
Grab a beer and go thru the curtain for a comedy show. It’s free)
A very chill and professional place to dive in and imbibe a libation or few. Great staff, especially Chevelle, an incredibly kind waitress. Well, the whole crew is affable, actually.
This bar is very cool with one of the most friendliest bartenders Ive come across in NY. Lets not forget to mention the drink that he made me spectacular. That was one of the strongest yet best tasting Sex on the Beaches I ever had. The kitchen closes a little early but he said we could bring food in and enjoy drinks which was pretty dope.
Loved it! Great selection of beverages..
Great venue but the comedians were just ok. The jokes were more one liners and zingers. Maybe it was just an off night for the comedians. Great drink prices and staff did a good job of taking orders without interrupting the show.
Rich at the bar was extremely gracious to us. We had a great time chatting with him while having a few beers. Thank you for the hospitality, Rich!
The bartenders here were amazing. They had a really long and amazing happy hour with really cheap drinks and a free comedy show that was AMAZING. Its nice inside as well!
Drinks and bartender were great!Comedy in the back was not so good. Would not go back for the comedy but the bar vibe was good.
A great night the best bar in New york
Overinflated sense of impact on comedy scene. Have someone outside handing/selling tickets and then the staff acts rude to people who bother to show up.
Terrible comedy. The worst I’ve ever seen in NYC. Skip this place!
Awesome place, not exactly a speakeasy but had a classy vintage touch to the interiors. The old fashioned rye was on point. Would definitely go back.
It was a great experience. The comedian are pretty funny overall and the staff are great.
This is a great place to see comedy at its purest developing level. A different crowd every night from all over the world with a different lineup of comics aiming at perfecting their craft!
Do not go here for comedy. Or if you do, dont pay for it. Comedians are amatures at best, theres no separation between front and back so youre still listening to the bar crowd and music while trying to decipher the comedian. Definitely not worth $20. Or even $10...
Went to a Saturday night comedy show, paid 20$ admission - was absolutely not worth it given quality of comics and atmosphere. Avoid.
Great comedy club with amazing talent. Strong drinks with reasonable prices! This is my cheers 🥂
Been here a few times and EVERY TIME I go Im charged wrong. BS. Also, if I tip you a certain amount it doesnt mean change that amount after I leave. Same bartender every time. Maybe if he wasnt constantly taking shots while working he would do his job correctly.
As a bar, overall, I think 3 stars is about fair. However, I ordered the short rib special on a whim while listening to a comedy set and was BLOWN AWAY by how good it was. Honestly the best thing Ive eaten all month. Was expecting to leave with food poisoning, left with happy memories.
Great Place!!! The staff will make you feel like you are a part of the family. You will not regret stopping in for a drink
Best bar in west village. Free people in a city of sheep.
Check out the NYC Comedy here first on MacDougal. Great line up of in your face comedians in short segments, low drink prices, and a nice behind the curtain extension of bar basement area. Highly recommended.
