We were looking for an authentic cigar lounge with a good whiskey menu and Carnegie Club did not disappoint! We spent a wonderful Friday night here and will for sure come back! The atmosphere was fantastic, the service great and there was even some amazing live music. The food to share was just amazing: we had a nice (very big) meat platter and some flatbread with hummus, so good!It was my first time smoking a cigar and since I told that to the very kind waitress, she explained me everything I needed to know, which was very helpful. I felt a little conscious to tell her at first but she was so friendly and open that I had no doubt I didn’t need to be embarrassed telling her. She offered to help pick the cigars too and was overall very nice and provided exceptional service. What we also liked very much was the wide variety of whisky options and the overall menu.

My favorite place in NYC. I’ve been coming here for a few years, back when the place used to be packed with an older crowd. Within the last few months, TikTok has brought in the younger generations and the only downside is that reservation spots go super quick now! I’m glad people are catching on because this place is truly one of a kind; I haven’t found another jazz club quite like it. The Carnegie Club truly encapsulates old New York. The drinks and cigar selection are the cherry on top. Please never stop Sinatra Saturdays!

We had been eyeing Carnegie Club for a while and finally got to go for New Years Eve. We booked in advance to ensure we got a table. The club is beautiful decorated and feels like you are transported in time. They have a coat check when you walk in, super helpful on messy rainy days (like NYE).For NYE there was a $60 cover charge and a band playing rat pack hits all evening. We were so lucky to be seated upstairs on a plush couch with a direct view of the band. The couch was super comfortable. The couch had two small tables in front of it to place our drinks, food, cigars, etc.Carnegie Club has a few small plates to get if you are hungry, a cocktail menu, extensive liquor menu and an extensive cigar menu.We had the truffle popcorn and cheese plate to eat. The cheese plate is huge and comes with full, large pieces of cheese plus grapes and fig spread with crackers.I had a gin & tonic plus the raspberry fizz drink. Both were refreshing. My husband had two of their old fashioneds. He said they were strong! My husband smoked both of their house cigars at $20 each. I did not smoke. He liked the Maduro house cigar more so than the Connecticut house cigar.Despite the cigar smoke all over, I dont feel like the club was suffocating with it. You still felt like you could breathe. The smell wasnt bad either. I did come up with my clothes smelling of it slightly, but thats to be expected. Initially I was nervous I wouldnt last the whole night with the cigar smoke. I did just fine and I have a sensitive nose. The stand out of the evening was the service. The service was impeccable. Our server was always around and extremely attentive. Every one was working so hard to make sure we were all having a great time.Part of the NYE festivities included a champagne toast at midnight, noise makers, hats and a plate of small dessert cookies. They put the countdown on the TVs and the whole place did the countdown together. It was really a fun, special evening. We will remember this NYE for years to come, and are thinking of making this a yearly tradition now on NYE, since we did have so much fun.I feel extremely lucky we had good seats, some of the other seats in the place dont seem to have as good visibility to the band. The earlier you get there, the better chance you have at a good seat.Carnegie Club was the epitome of class, elegance and great service on NYE. Everything was perfect from the food, to the drinks, to the cigars, to the whole vibe.Id like to come back for a Sinatra Saturday (a Sinatra tribute band plays every Saturday) very soon!

The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations that enhanced my visit. What I loved most was the relaxed, sophisticated vibe, complete with live jazz music that added to the overall charm of the place. Another exceptional show at the Carnegie Club!We made reservations for back to back shows, as we always do, for Steven Maglio and were able to sit in our usual seats. As always the crowd was shifting around considerably in the club so we had to wait longer than usual in order to get drinks and cigars ordered. I usually prefer the Oban 14 year accompanied by a Winston Churchill. The staff are wonderful, they literally handle everything without missing a heartbeat. At this point its time to sit back and enjoy the show.Steve is absolutely phenomenal, highly talented and a great guy. We had a wonderful time once again, had great conversation with Steve followed by photos. This club is an absolute gem!Cheers!

Marvellous place, with a fantastic singer, wonderful band and great service! We went on a Saturday night for the 8 oclock Sinatra night show and stayed until closing at 2:00am this is how much we loved it! The appetizers were good, the drinks were delish and the most fantastic part was that you can smoke your own cigarettes and cigars! They also have a great selection of cigars if you decide to purchase from them! Yes it did have smoke but it is a cigar bar not sure what people expect, in-fact my husband (a cigar smoker) and i (a cigarette smoker) were discussing when we left, that we loved that it was not too smoked up! I would be here every weekend if i had the time for it! Fabulous atmosphere, with old New York vibes, l highly recommend this place if you enjoy jazz music and a good cigar/cigarette! Jeff was our server, he was one of a kind! We will be back!

One of the few places left to smoke and drink in NYC. Cozy upscale atmosphere and friendly staff. Live music Friday-Sunday evenings. Sinatra Saturdays; $40 with two drink minimum, $50 for premium seating (2 sets usually @ 8pm & 10pm). My personal drink choices; barrel-aged old fashioned, Carnegie Punch or Angel’s Envy bourbon. This place is seriously one of my favorite places Ive visited in NYC as someone who has been here 8-9 times. First, we tried getting a reservation for about a month and decided to test our luck by showing up and seeing if anyone was a no show. Luckily for us, a guy was giving up his spot right before the Sinatra Saturday show started. The show was absolutely amazing and we stayed for the second one. Our bartender, I think his name was Joy/Troy?, was FANTASTIC. Incredibly nice and quick to serve everybodys drinks. Couldnt have asked for better. My only complaint is that the announcer specifically said to keep conversations to a minimum during the show and people continued to talk loudly throughout. At one point it was hard to hear the performer during one of my favorite songs. I understand you cant really tell people to not talk at all, but conversations should have been hushed versus yelling because of intoxication. Other than that, it was a great experience!

This is a great cigar bar with a fantastic Sinatra performance on Saturday evenings. However, the staff at the door is rude and highly disrespectful. Be prepared, even if you have a reservation on a busy evening. I have been a customer for years and never experienced such horrendously disrespectful treatment at the door until recently; how times have changed. There are other cigar bars that deliver a much higher standard for service, recommend checking those out instead.

Do not let the “rules” scare you off. The dress code is a joke. We had guys at the next table wearing tshirts and backward ball caps, a guy across from us wearing a Yankees ball cap and elsewhere were people who looked like they had just removed their judicial robes before stepping in the door. Athletic shoes were the norm, not the exception. And I had a most enjoyable evening, other than the guy sitting next to us screaming, yes screaming, into his phone. For God’s sake folks either text or call her outside. We do not need to know your business. They were out of my first two choices of sticks, but even the third choice was a premium smoke, so no complaints there. The drinks were quite good, the wait staff was excellent and the manager stopped by the table. My wife was one of three women in the club who did not work there. The ventilation system was average for a cigar lounge. In other words, it was pretty damned smokey in there. Which I expect, regardless of how great a cigar bar says their ventilation system is.I bought a nice lighter as a souvenir. Overall I give it four stars only because of the ferocity of the stated dress code and the obvious lack of enforcement of the same. Decorum is the hallmark of a great club. Either drop the code or enforce it. At least tell them to take off their ball caps.

Someone overheard me asking my wife to google search a spot where I could get a cigar and this place was recommended and not very far from the restaurant we were at. It was exactly what I was looking for. A great selection of wines for my wife and a great selection of beer and cigars for me. I personally do a dark stout paired with a cohiba blue and it was the perfect ending to my birthday dinner. A couple of large TV’s with sports (NBA) on and a great atmosphere for conversation. Perfect spot for a night cap or just a place to hang out. Very friendly hostess who greeted us immediately as we walked in and were taken to a section to sit, with no wait. There was also an upstairs area that was a bit more private but we like to be in the mix. Great spot! And our waitress was very helpful as well. Would definitely go back.

I am from Miami, where we have the best cigar lounges with great atmosphere, service, and the best cigars. I came to NYC on vacation and tried visiting this lounge twice. Both times, it was closed for private events. No prior notice or announcement online. Tried calling, but no one answered the phone. You should care more about new customers because that is how you get new service and future recommendations. The door man doesn’t even allow you to step foot inside. I will never visit this place again and don’t recommend. If you are in NYC and want to have a cigar, go to Macanudo Cigar Club. Nice selection, nice place. and nice service.

TLDR liked the unique experience and atmosphere but had some gripesWent for Sinatra Saturdays. The 8:00pm show doesn’t feature popular songs like New York New York or My Way, which are instead hinted to be part of the 10:30pm show, for which an additional charge applies, which felt a bit like an upsell. We had good seats above the bar but couldn’t actually see the band hidden at the front of the location, nor properly hear some of the introductory anecdotes.Lastly on the website it states that the tobacco fee is waived on Saturdays, but you can still expect a very smoky atmosphere.

Sinatra Saturday is a must go! We had booked a table roughly 2 months in advance, I thought thats a little too long to wait for a night out, but boy was it worth it! We got tickets for the early show and loved the experience so much that we decided to stay for the late show as well. The club accomodated our last minute decision and we even got to keep our table which was amazing. The Stan Rubin Orchestra was fantastic and Steve Maglio waz amazing. Performance was stunning, with subtle jokes and short stories about Sinatra, truly an amazing experience. Steve definitely know how to entertain and was a crowd pleaser. Not a Sinatra impersonator, but a Sinatra lover and a good singer. Food was fantastic, we ordered a few platters and everything was delicious. Cocktails were well crafted, I had a classic old fashioned and was not dissappointed. Our server Jeff was great and catered to all our needs. I definitely would recommend this place to all Sinatra lovers, jazz lovers and cigar afficionados. Cant wait to our next visit.EDIT: Visited again on a Friday night and once again had a great time. This time it was not a Sinatra night and a different band was playing, but it was just as much fun. We made a reservation abt a week in advance, arrived on time and were sitted promptly. Service was once again great, the band was pretty good and the cherry on top was a singer that just stopped for a couple of songs to sing with them, but he was sooo good, that made the experience so much better. Very smooth, mellow voice. We would be back soon, that is for sure. 5/5

I can drink lol but thia cocktail took me by surprise. The ambience was great but I did a lot of people watching since I was also alone. I wasnt rushed though the place was relatively busy. So the men seem to have a dress code of blue jeans, a shirt and dress jacket. Majority had Brown shoes and a few black. Others had sneakers which were so odd but those seemed like regulars. 2hrs and I didnt want to leave, and I was alone so I guarantee you its a great place.

Review №141

The quality of cigars they stock somewhat varies depending on how long it has been there before you get one. A safe option would be going for the most famous one like Cohiba, which is thus less likely to have been stowed down there for long. Bartenders and staffs are friendly and very professional at helping you get the right whiskies, cocktails, and cigars. On Friday nights or weekends you may be requested to move your seat, or even to leave in worse cases, unless you made a reservation in advance.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the Carnegie Club on a Sinatra Saturday, where Steven Maglio performs. They get booked very quickly so they recommend booking 60 days in advance. I only came across this place the previous night, I left them a message, and luckily they managed to squeeze us in. It was a fully booked, and I can understand why. The atmosphere was amazing from the second we entered. Hospitality was friendly, but professional, great selection of drinks and food. Steven Maglios performance was amazing, and made us understand why on Saturdays like this it is so difficult to get a table. Next time I visit New York, Ill be definitely back!

The waitstaff was rushing everyone, yelling that if we did not make our assigned time within 10 minutes they would give our table away. the security guard yelled at me not to walk in front of the stage. the waitstaff didnt even have cigar cutters. they were massively understaffed so wait times were super long. then on top of that they tried to kick us out of our table almost immediately after the set finished. I could not believe how terrible the service was. I used to be a regular when I lived in NYC but I will never come back here again and urge all other guests to stay away. 0 stars

Good evening guys and dollsThis is usually a phenomenal experience but this time out we were faced with some persecution. We were told over the phone that there was no cover charges because of the lack of Steve Maglio however we were charged regardless of the insistence on other patrons. We like the place but we aren’t overtly happy with the lack of consistency in the patrons word. Come by for nice times, smoking your choice cigars but be aware of additional charges no matter the lack of the proper entertainment as advertised.

My husband and I were extremely disappointed with our experience last weekend. We were excited for the Sinatra Saturdays show and expected that the $40 per person cover charge (and 2-drink minimum) would include an opportunity to watch and listen to the ensemble, as well as at least a baseline level of service. Not only were we seated in a location in the back where we could not see any part of the show—there was also a thick crowd of loud and drunk people surrounding the back of the bar where we were seated. This meant we could barely hear the show and were constantly being stepped on while seated. Also, we were NEVER checked on and had to flag down our waiter for cocktails each time we wanted to order. We asked for water three separate times and only received it toward the end of the evening when we resorted to going to the bar ourselves to ask. While we were so upset with the service and experience, we acknowledge that it is not the waiter’s fault and was more so caused by the overall lack of management of the number of people allowed into the space and the degree of their inebriation. We do not plan on returning and sincerely hope they consider improving all the factors we mentioned above. We fully believe the amount of money we spent last night DOES NOT merit the experience we received.

Our evening at the Carnagie Club took an unexpected turn when we were greeted by a hostess who claimed she was not expecting us, even though our names were on the list when we arrived. We had made this reservation as part of a special occasion and had specifically requested premium seats next to the orchestra via OpenTable. However, upon arrival, they informed us that there was no seating available in that area and offered to place us between tables, which understandably didnt sit well with the other premium guests. To make matters worse, the lady who eventually attended to us displayed incredible rudeness, when a simple apology for the misunderstanding could have sufficed. Despite these initial hiccups, its worth noting that the show, atmosphere, and the rest of the night turned out to be great!

Stopped by on a Friday night - service was slow, the ventilation was terrible, had to sit across from and watch a very young woman grope a very old man.. waiter wasn’t helpful at all with cigar choices and just made multiple insults. Drinks were decent though and had a sweet building design etc.Overall, nothing compared to a nice cigar club, but an option if you’re in need.
