Always a pleasure coming hereThe food could be a little better. I feel like its just same old news but still good. The staff is always incredibly nice.I found it so adorable that the waitress remembered us even tho last time we were there was like 9 months ago. She remembered the drinks and food we got. That made us feel like regulars and very welcomed so we ordered the same things as last time.Their wine selection is really good as well.Very comfy and cozy place with amazing service and food for a date night
We had the brussel sprouts, the duck spring rolls, the tuna lettuce wraps, the skirt steak and the black pasta. The spring rolls and skirt steak were FANTASTIC, 10/10. Everything else was okay but the menu has so many appetizing things we will definitely be back, even just for those two dishes!
Really great portions. Service was a bit slow and we had to ask for water and drink refills several times.
Waited over 3 hours total for our meals and that’s with ordering ahead. Food was ok but my steak was cooked beyond well done when I asked for medium, turkey came out cold. Waited another 45 minutes for our dessert to go and just left without it. I went here because of the reviews but it did not even live up to a 3 star.
Tried this restaurant for the first time since we were looking to have steak in the area. The restaurant has a nice and cozy vibe and offers many different options besides steak. We ordered some wine, fried calamari, my husband and cousin both had the 30 day aged strip steak. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. They ordered the roasted potatoes and the scallion fried rice which were both large portions enough to share. I ordered the gnocchi Bolognese which was delicious but large enough that I took half of it home. No room for dessert but I read other reviews that said the cheesecake is so yummy. The service was great too, friendly staff and very attentive to refilling water, and coming by to check in. Overall great experience, will definitely be back!
Disappointing!! We were a party of 4 and had a table on Thanksgiving at 7:30pm. After arriving on time we were told to wait for our table; ended up waiting 45 minutes in the hallway, wearing our coats after being ignored by multiple staff members. After finally being seated, we waited over an hour between starter and main courses. People started leaving their tables next to us. The food was okay, but definitely not worth waiting this long. Unfortunately, the waiters were not at fault for the overbooked tables but the whole experience was incredibly disappointing. We would have expected the check to ‚meet us halfway‘ at the end of the night, but this was only done after pointing the long wait and bad customer service out. Much to improve in this place.
Everyone is so kind I felt like I was getting vip service, the feed is mouthwateringly good.
Ashley made our Christmas Eve so wonderful! Excellent service and knowledge of the menu! Will definitely be back because of her!
Had a booking for a set menu. When we sat down the wrong menu was on the table. We were told that the menu booked wasnt available, and only a more expensive one would be served ($30 extra per person). When I showed what I had booked, I got waved off and told they could serve a la carte instead, to which we were never given a menu. Wait staff were constantly bumping into my seat all night (place was overcrowded), then at the end, a 20% tip automatically applied regardless of how we felt about the service.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! We had a reservation for 4 people at 7pm on Thanksgiving and it was a complete disaster. Line of people out the door who also had reservations and were being told the wait to be seated was “a few minutes”….. we sat there and watched the host (gentleman with the hat) and bartender take pulls/shots behind the bar and then had the audacity to keep asking how many in our party any time we asked what the status was on our table. We finally sat an hour later and only got some frozen pats of butter, stale bread and no water. We spoke with some patrons who were sitting at the bar and overheard all the tables around us say the food was bad and/or cold so we left before we could even catch our waiter. If you’re in the UES and want good food, go to Jacques instead! We left here, went there, and had the best meal and amazing service!Maybe don’t overbook your reservations and have a bunch of drunks on your staff for a holiday!
Best creme brulee I have had in NYC. Absolutely delicious duck, burger, and the croquettes are to die for. Brunch menu is also fantastic. I still dream about the 30-day dry aged steak every now and then. My favorite restaurant so far.
Cool spot! Waiters were nice and welcoming. Food was good, I would vividly recommend the gnocchi, which was absolutely fantastic. I was not a fan of the meat balls. My hanger steak was supposedly grilled, but was cold my plate was full of oil (seemed like the patatoes were also fried instead of roasted). Still nice food, great spot and nice waiting staff!
This is perfect for date night ✨The playlist is cute, love the lighting and the interior drag. Ample bar and seating and still feels intimate. Love the ceiling especially! The kobe beef sliders were good and hot + hand cut fries 👌🏽 the fried rice was also good, a sophisticated version of takeout. My favorite was the something Blondie (strawberry?) cocktail. It’s like drinking cold juice in the summertime, just so perfect! The service is also great! Thanks for the nice night ❤️🔥
I am absolutely obsessed with the duck. I have tried duck breast at tons of other restaurants in NYC and none can ever hold a candle to Sojourn!!!
Great experience when we popped in here last minute on Saturday evening without a reservation and got no attitude from hostess over this. Had drinks & dinner in bar area. Food & drink were great. Rodrigo was attentive, entertaining, warm, and welcoming.Looking forward to many return visits!
With so many brunch places to try in New York in every neighborhood, New Yorkers rarely revisit and repeat the same spots but I’ve found myself do that with Sojourn’s brunch because it’s just so consistently good with its food, service and vibe. It’s a no-nonsense joint unlike one of those unnecessarily hyped “there’s a 90-minute wait” places. The wait staff is has always been considerate and attentive, especially if you’re someone who likes your coffee refilled promptly. Their hangover cure is my favorite — so flavorful and filling, followed by the French toast, eggs Benedict and chicken satay. I like that you can mix and match your order from their regular lunch selection as well
Many think the UES ‘Restaurant Row’ begins at 78th and runs down Second Ave.But I think it begins at Sojourn on 79th. I’ve been eating & drinking here since it opened – always satisfied. Here are some favorites…
This place sold me spoilt wine during a clear out of liquor sale. I asked explicitly if it was still good and kept in good condition, and they said it was and promised to take it back if it wasn’t. Wine was garbage and spoilt. Turns out it was an employee selling house stock. Scammer restaurant.
Unfortunately, a really bad tasting meal. I asked for well done meat and they gave me basically rare. And then when they brought it out again, it was still not well done. Here are before and after pictures. Also, it was really dark. Of course, the wait staff were really nice, but the food quality just wasn’t up to par :(
I thought some reviews about the service were exaggerating, let me tell you they are not. I was so excited to try the food, and over the course of three and a half hours that excitement withered and died as we became more and more frustrated. I have never in my life experienced such a glacial pace of service. We ordered drinks right when we sat down and received them half an hour later, when we then put in an order for four small plates. It took a full hour to receive the first two plates (which we finished in under five minutes out of starvation), 40 minutes to get the next two, and most shockingly another 40 to get the cheesecake which we had to request three times. We ate the cheesecake with our butter knives since the waitress saw we had no forks but never returned with any, and our water glasses sat empty for most of the meal. We left hungry because we couldnt bear to wait for more food. I think there was only one waitress working 20+ tables and I felt bad for her but this must come down to terrible management. I would never recommend this place to anyone, no food is worth this, especially with all the other incredible options on 2nd street alone. I understand that with small plates youre supposed to enjoy the food and eat one thing at a time over a longer dining period but this level of ineptitude cannot have been intentional. I really hate to leave bad reviews, especially with independent restaurants struggling right now, but this experience was remarkably bad.
Sojourn is a great restaurant on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. We ordered the cheese platter, beetroot salad, croquettes, duck spring rolls, salmon and duck breast. The cheese platter, beetroot salad and duck - on both accounts - were the winners.
Really nice date place with very good service and the food is actually really good. Everyone was very nice and extremely helpful. The dining area was a bit noisy, but, I suppose if youre young, the noise isnt so bad. Overall, everything was excellent, especially given it was a date and somewhat last minute as well. Thank you for an excellent evening.
Lovely dinner - we had zucchini flowers, broccoli, burrata salad, beef sliders, scallops, gnocchi and cheesecake
First and foremost, i want to say that Sojourn has amazing food. However, my experience has been less than pleasant. I order from the restaurant at least once a month. The past couple of times, my food has been delivered late and cold, with tonight being the most egregious. I put in my order at 9:23pm and sent an estimated time of delivery up until 10:08pm. I waited the entire time and called the restaurant at 10:15. My food was not delivered until 10:58pm - TWO minutes before closing. I am literally starving and cant eat because the food took so long to come that my stomach has closed up. Looks like its bedtime instead. What a joke and such a disappointment from such a delicious place. They did throw in a cheesecake but whats the point when youre so starved you cant eat.
Cool spot for drinks and food. They have a list of their specialty cocktails. There are some nice seats right by the front next to the big windows. I had the sliders which were really good just really tiny. The fries were amazing! Quiet enough after work to be able to talk to your friends. Thought it was a little bit too dark had to use the candles to read the menu. Ill be back soon to try their brunch!
Really enjoyed the dining experience at Sojourn. Tried the Branzino, shrimp, over medium omelette (with chorizo subbed for avocado), the scallion fried rice, and the chicken satay. Barring the scallion friend rice (which was chewy), everything was excellent! The host was great and the outdoors decor was beautiful. Would love to return!
Honestly Ive never tried anything but the brunch here but the service is always impeccable and the brunch food is delicious!!!!
Everything is hand made in-house which I love about this place. The chicken sandwich with the home made chipotle mayo is delicious. Calamari is a definite must have appetizer with the home made marinara. The cherry on top is the out of this world cheese cake. Take the time and put this place on your list of go to restaurants.
Great menu, that has a little bit of everything that their skirt steak with fried rice was surprisingly very tasty even though I wasnt expecting that combination. Also had their bolognese and the veal added so much flavor to their dish. They also have a good happy hour menu that has drinks and small bites. Service was exceptional as we had an issue with one of our dishes and they kindly sent it back (not pictured their black pasta which was salty).Cant wait to go back.
We loved the rustic style that sojourn presented us when we went for brunch. We brought a large group of about 14 and they served us bottomless and a wide array of menu items for brunch. All our meats were served to the perfect temp and I attribute that to our server. Ana. Ana was the most excellently attentive person to both our group and myself. I never saw the bottom of my mimosa glass, and she never allowed us to want for anything. Ana the georgian, pulled in help when she needed and conversed with us to an expert level. I am personally going back for the food and her.
I love this place!Went for dinner last night to have my new favorite dish, the always perfect pan seared scallops served over a delightful butternut squash puree. The service is always exceptional and I was outside comfortably seated next to a heat lamp. There was a very nice couple seated at a healthy distance who heard that I was a nurse when I was talking to the owner Sammy, who always circulates to make sure things are running smoothly. They paid for my dinner as thanks for my work as a nurse!A perfect night!!!
Overall a positive experience. Ample outdoor seating, and the service was polite and quick. The food we ordered was enjoyable, though the menu is not suited well to my tastes. Taking a star off because one dish we ordered just never came. Wasnt on the bill, thankfully, but silly to miss an item when we only ordered 3 things.
Service was excellent. The staff is so welcoming the food was great and the drinks came so fast. Our server kept asking us if everything was okay even thought she looked so busy she still made time to check on us so often.Anyway ONE BIG thing that i found very uncomfortable was this guy with a beard and hat staring at our table non stop and later on we found out he was the owner. He just kept walking up to us and every time we looked up he was standing and staring like we were doing something wrong and it made us feel very uncomfortable so we didn’t even stay for dessert.Really good food amazing excellent service extremely friendly.
Their bottomless brunch was absolutely amazing! A main course, a side, and unlimited (for two hours) bloody Marys, mimosas, and sangria, all for a very reasonable price. I went with the eggs Benedict and the creamy polenta, and was very pleased! I cleaned my entire plate and was quite happy with the portions. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly and funny, and awesome at keeping an eye on drink levels. I would absolutely go back next time Im in town!
Not only was the food delicious and the atmosphere beautiful, what made this such an amazing experience was the gentleman manager who went out of his way to go downstairs and bring me a bottle of French wine that was off the menu (2015 Les Charmes Chardonnay)! It made the experience so special! I also appreciate that they used your name during the entire evening. What a simple concept, right? (I assume they get it from the reservation) What a truly wonderful experience. I cant recommend highly enough!
Excellent food and service and at a reasonable price. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience at Sojourn and will come back...
Very solid choice. Skirt steak was excellent. We sat outside. Pleasant atmosphere. Not super fancy but good value for the money.
We visited this restaurant tonight just by chance because it is near my father’s rehab hospital. Well we were all pleasantly surprised. The waiter Leo was very attentive and informative. His suggestions were absolutely correct. The food came quickly and hot. The food was excellent and was like no other cuisine we had ever tasted; it was something like a unique French-Italian fusion with other influences added. We made a reservation for for the following Saturday night before we left. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone; you will not be disappointed.
I had been meaning to try Sojourn for almost a year, so I was thrilled when a friend recommended it for Saturday Brunch! The atmosphere is great; awesome music, trendy decor and cute table arrangements (we were at a high table that was a booth). For brunch I had steak, eggs and cheese. My meal was very good. It looked a bit on the small side when it arrived, but in the end it was the perfect amount of food; I left brunch satisfied but not disgustingly stuffed like brunch typically leaves me. I had asked for it medium well- it was more on he well done side. It could have been slightly less cooked, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The steak was topped with frizzled onions, which was a great addition! In terms of the service, it was a little slow. The food took a bit longer than I expected and it took a while for the check to come. All in all, however, I would totally come back to Sojourn for brunch and I definitely look forward to trying it for dinner!
A quieter spot for a Sunday brunch than the typical UES haunts. The food was tasty, though portions quite small. It wasnt especially busy, but there was a decent wait for food.
This is my favorite privately owned place on the upper east side. Not only is the food amazing, the prices justtt right, but the staff is perfect! New waitress Ashley was a real treat - I’m 100% returning! Thank you Sojourn! And thank you to the server Ashley!
Grest food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommend the scallops. Hesitant to post this because I dont want it to get too popular. But they do deserve a stellar review.
Yummy . Not too noisy or too crowded on Saturday 11/27/21 @ 5:45pm. Sat us early 30 minutes before reservation. Wild arugula salad was my favorite. Prosciutto & figs gets shout out too. Servings are smaller designed to be shared. Server recommended 2 orders per person (tapas style).
Early Saturday 5:00 pm dinner; the staff was very polite with many empty tables. The restaurant was packed by the time we left at 7:15 pm.Our favorite dishes were 1) butternut squash soup, 2) wonderful & large roasted beet salad, 3) perfectly cooked salmon with mushrooms & Brussels sprout leaves with light garlic.
Best cheesecake Ive ever had! Absolutely wonderful atmosphere, makes you feel like youre back in time in a quaint cafe in Europe. The food is unique and fit for foodies, but covers enough grounds that you dont have to worry about somebody in your group not finding something they like! Awesome service and staff, I went on a Monday so it was pleasantly not too crowded but still alive and vibrant. Will definitely be back next time Im in the city!
Was sitting outside, waiter never cam to table after being served. Place was not busy.
Its small plates. The food was spectacular (Rxcept perhaps for the crispy oysters. They werent great.). I strongly recommend the aspay with prosciutto and the duck, buy there was other great stuff too. The drinks were great. The cheesecake with blueberries was one of the best things Ive ever eaten! And the server was attentive and very friendly and sweet. Kinda pricey, but we knew that going in. Be aware.
I had the poke lettuce wraps. AMAZING!! We shared the beet salad and duck spring rolls. Great ambiance. Live acoustic music and singing. Creme brule was excellent. Definitely recommend!
During a recent trip to NYC, me and a friend used Yelp to help guide our food experience through the weekend. We decided to try Sojourn after another place had a wait and average brunch options. We went with the bottomless option and I choose the French Toast with a side of hash. We both were extremely happy with our dishes. The French Toast was super flavorful, my only suggestion would be to serve it with something to break up the dough and sweetness. While I ate the dish, I was kinda wishing for an egg or something to relieve me from the sweetness and the same bite.Once we arrived, we were greeted quickly and was actually sat right away! The back half of the restaurant was packed with groups, which created a tuff atmosphere. And the server definitely took her time with the refills. The other interesting thing, was that there were only 2 restrooms so with all the bottomless going on, the restroom lines did get long.Would come back again to give lunch or dinner a try if I was in the area.
Everything was delicious!!! This lobster Benedict is 😍😍😍
Rodrigo takes such good care of his customers, I recommend you sit at the bar.The drinks are incredible—he never lets your glass go empty—and the food is REALLY good, and the ambience is incomparable.Run don’t walk.
I enjoyed the cocktails and the dinner menu. The restaurant usually has a wait on the weekends, so be prepared to have a drink and hang out in the bar for a bit. I liked the atmosphere and that it was lively without being too packed. I didnt enjoy brunch as much. I thought it was overpriced and had a limited selection (every egg dish had pork-would have preferred more options) Good Bloody Marys!
My fiancé took me here and it was delicious. The food was great and the drinks were strong.
Its a lovely local bar for many (which is where I always sit), but their dining area is also quite nice. Their cheese cake is DELICIOUS. I also enjoy the fish tacos 🌮 😋
Great energy! We made a reservation and still unfortunately had to wait 15 minutes. No worries, got a drink at the bar. I must say the staff was beyond efficient. The place was extremely over crowded but they definitely did a good job at catering to the customers. Food was great! I think the only thing negative was that my entree was not as hot as i would have liked but still tasted great.
This place is great, never had a bad meal here, great wine list, great portions, great value, the menu is very solid
Man of man, first off the atmosphere of this place phenomenal. Great upbeat music, really cool astetics inside aswell. Went for Saturday brunch and was not disappointed, I loved that the staff allowed us to eat without a reservation! Order a croquet madame which was very good. Also the chorizo hash is a must order! Lastly they are not skimpy with the boozy brunch so needless to say my Saturday ended early after leaving 😅!
Friendly place, good service. The food was decent. Really liked the short rib and sesame tuna. Both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. The brussels sprouts were tasty, but I thought the sauce was a bit watery. Didnt find a lot of interesting flavors or taste in the manchego and chorizo croquettes. Finished our meal with a selectivity of three cheeses that were very nice. So over all liked it and would return
Not good. Service was super slow, felt like we were bothering our waiter. My girlfriends dish came ~20 minutes after everyone elses. The waiter kept saying it was coming but didnt give an eta. He finally said that the kitchen missed it. Not sure if it was the kitchen or him. He also didnt take it off the bill (we didnt ask but it wouldve made sense).Food is average, nothing special. Beet salad is just as good at Dig Inn. Not worth the money.
Sojourn was one of very few places on July 4th that had available tables so we went there!Pros:- Nice Atmosphere- Cool entrance door and overall design- Tasty foodCons:- Plates are small, purposely, and unfortunately its not mentioned until you have already ordered your drinks and are ordering your food. The food prices would have been great if the plate size was for adults. As Ive said, they do mention it, but by that time you have sat in the restaurant for a while and started your drinks. Since restaurant specializes in small plates Tapas style, that should definitely be advertised on the entrance menu, their website etc.- Towards the end of our visit there was a sudden, very strong smell of weed through the entire restaurant. I mean it felt like someone was smoking inside it was so strong! Since I dont know the facts, only what I observed, I did see a restaurant worker in a white hat coming back in with stoned eyes and then the smell slowly disappeared. Didnt see anyone do anything about it though. Definitely ruined the experience and I wouldnt be coming back. It should be my choice to whether get high or not. Getting forcibly stoned is uncool especially at a pricey upscale restaurant.I hope this will be seen by someone who is in control of how Sojourn operates. It couldve been a great experience if a) half size plates werent a surprise and b) I wasnt forced to be stoned.
Skirt Steak was fine, nothing extraordinary. The rice was undercooked and crunchy. Yuck. Do better.
Went here with a large group for brunch. They have the AYCD boozy brunch for 2 hours. Place is cute, a good mix of locals as well as a young trendy crowd. 20 minute slow walk from Central Park. Service was attentive and friendly. Unisex bathrooms.
STELLAR experience. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. So glad I discovered this gem. Truly a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back .
Sammy, the owner couldnt be more welcoming and hands on. Jose is the best as he puts his heart and soul towards efficient service above par. The chef has talents of The Gods as I have been coming here for 3+ years. The foods texture and taste profile is consistent and perfect each visit. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you want great service and dine (review for dinner service only) with food masterfully cooked for you. I bittersweetly wish this place to have the business it deserves even if it means competing for table reservations.-Dennis Y. (Table behind the receptionist)
Came here with my sister & my mom for Christmas Dinner 12/25/19. The staff was nice and professional with welcoming mannerism. We started off with starters, my sister had the butternut squash soup, I had the Manchego Cheese & Chorizo croquettes, my mom had the crispy brussel sprouts, which all were absolutely delicious. Our server was good! Our entrees were outstanding, my sister and our mom ordered pasta dishes and I had the skirt steak & scallion fried rice. The only thing that we thought was extremely off was the fact all the patrons received complimentary rolls except us. Other than that everything was great! Sojourn Its highly recommended.
Loved their skirt steak. Churros was a perfect dessert for the night. Warm outdoor seating set up but not much air ventilation.
So this is a way overdue review. I’ve being going there for 4+ years and after my most recent visit (last night) decided to get around to write this.Lets start with the basics, Sojourn is a beautiful hidden gem on the UES right off 2nd Ave. It has a modern yet cozy look and very lively atmosphere, it goes from a cute date place to large parties kinda spot.Unique restaurant, delicious food, varied wine selection, excellent customer service and reasonable prices. Our party had 14 people and everyone had an amazing time (and food). It’s hard to find a restaurant that can accommodate large parties without a lot of issues why I keep coming back when planning large group dinners. The wine list is affordable and not intimidating, and the menu is big enough that pretty much anyone can find something that suits their needs. The concept is modern American and it works for those who value quality ingredients with upscale presentationFood-*Appetizers*- Cheese and charcuterie - a good selection of cured meats and cheeses, I like to start a meal off here with a little bit of both- Manchego Chorizo Croquettes and the Chicken Satay are also amazingThe chicken satay easily had the best of the satay peanut sauces Ive ever had!*Main*- Roasted Salmon (Chanterelle and crimini mushrooms, asparagus, truffle oil) - cooked perfectly and the truffle oil is just magic touchNow onto the pasta dishes:- Ricotta and Swiss Chard Ravioli (Parmigiano, truffle butter)- Black Pasta (Linguini pasta, *spicy* lobster arrabiata)- Burrata Agnolotti (Prosciutto di parma, shaved asparagus, thyme)All very flavorful and yummy, it wasnt too heavy and had complex flavors in a light creamy sauce.*Dessert*-Chocolate cake (so good!!)We started with a waitress then a different waiter took over. They were both very nice and efficient, always checking on drinks and refilling water. This cozy, rustic spot with occasional live music is perpetually packed and always pleasing.Sojourn is a foodies paradise.
Great place for brunch. There will probably be a wait for seating but it is worth it. They are quick with the refills during bottomless, and that is rare these days. Great atmosphere and food. Nice variety of different types of food on the menu.
I came in on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. It was pretty busy. I ordered the hangover cure, my friend ordered the polenta, my sister ordered the madame croquet. The food was ok, nothing memorable. A bit disappointed considering Ive had this place bookmarked for months. Finally can cross it off the list. Probably wont come back to this place and explore better options.
This place is legit. Terrific cocktails, A diverse but not overwhelming wine list, creative, flavorful dishes with impeccable plating and generous portions. And their cocktails are dope. Well definitely be coming back.
I rarely write reviews, but today I feel compelled. We ate brunch at Sojourn about 20 mins ago. We walked in at 12:10 and got our food at 1:30 only after I nudged the waitress along saying we have been waiting a long time. Once the food came out, it was overcooked eggs (the kind you make as a novice cook on your own stove) and disgusting over cooked bad quality bacon. And that was pretty much the extent of my husbands meal. He actually walked out saying he feels nauseous and may never eat again. My sentiments were the same. Please eat here at your own risk ! You will not have quality food and you will just stress yourself out like I did.
I was in town and wanted to meet a girlfriend for dinner. Such a good choice! Cute atmosphere. They have covered outdoor seating. Great for a date or meeting with friends - probably not great for groups. We came during restaurant week and enjoyed the delicious pre-fixe menu. I got the duck confit spring rolls and the ravioli. She ordered the corn salad (was a big portion) and the skirt steak…we both got the cheesecake for dessert. No dish missed. Delicious! We were so full off the tasty app and entree we took the cheesecake home for later. Wonderful service. Great restaurant to try!
On the Upper East Side, its hard to beat Sojourn for consistency and a comfortable, fun vibe. Food is excellent as are the drinks. Staff is friendly and fun. They have live music too (Monday nights I think). The organic half chicken is a favorite for me, as is the chorizo rice, duck confit spring rolls, and chicken satay. Sammy (the owner) is super-hospitable.
Went for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed. Unlimited mimosas or bloody marys with brunch for $25 per person. Food was good. Service was ok. Didnt have omlette in the menu and they charged an extra $6 for 2 added ingredients. I thought that was a little tight. But the booze made up for it.
The food was great, service, so-so!
The Brussels sprouts were amazing! Quick service. Everything we tried was delicious. Would definitely go back.
I really enjoyed my food. Skirt steak took the show.
If I were you, I would order the mussels in butter and garlic sauce. Excellent cosmopolitans made by a bartender named Marcel. The music is excruciatingly loud, vile, disgusting and horrible! My eardrums actually hurt when I left the place. I begged them to turn the music down and they absolutely refused. I will never go there again.
Great place!!! The staff is brilliant, the food is amazing. The make you feel like you are home. Julio and Gabriel make sure that you have the time of your life if they are behind the bar. Gambino is the best and most handsome ever waiter in the UES. Love this place and highly recommend it!!!!
Ive only been here for brunch but its always a hit! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is really fun. It usually gets really busy on the weekends around 1pm so be sure to make a reservation.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere at the bar was fun and lively.
The bomb! Is the bomb. Seriously. Best Italian hero for the best price in the city. All take out, no seats (its a deli).Every time we come theres a long line and the wait is short. They are moving really well behind the counter. Absolute professionals.
Excellent restaurant. Attentive service. Delicious meal (truthfully every plate Ive ever had). Comfortable environment. Friendly staff who appear to enjoy working here hence an inviting vibe with a strong delivery.Very enjoyable. 👍🏼
Tasty tapas dishes and good prices. But it is the noisiest restaurant Ive been in during 4 decades of dining out. I could not hear a single word from anyone at my table. There is a bar thats actually quiter.
First time here for Sunday brunch. The table wasnt ready when we arrived as it was pretty packed, but the maitre offered mimosa for the wait. The food was delicious, including the dessert. Will definitely recommend this place.
Amazing food, great staff, a neighborhood go to for sure! Love this place!
Just had a great first experience with Sojourn. Ordered the shortribs and riccotta blueberry pie. both amazing, still piping got when it got here (on the later side but it was worth it). Cant wait to order from here again. Highly recommend
Surprisingly good. Great vibe and affordable. 170 for three people with a 50$ bottle of wine so not bad for the food.
Placed an order for pickup 1 1/2 before closing time. Gave my credit card number went to pick up order 20 minutes later hostess tells me they need an additional 15 minutes to finish the order. I order a drink in the meantime. Fifty minutes passed by and host comes to me to say Can you choose something else, your dish is no longer an option. Huge amount of time wasted
Delicious Eggs Benedict and mimosas for a reasonable price, and a great outdoor setup!
The presentation was grand, the hospitality was endless, the food was amazing, and the owner was so kind. He walked the room and spoke to each table. I love it! Thank you for a very special night!
Waited almost 40 min for very low quality food (took them that long to make eggs), and there was almost no one in the restaurant when I got here. The waiters are really nice, but the food really isnt worth it. Do not recommend.(A couple at a table near me also complained about how long it took)
Solid brunch menu with all you can drink option. Quiet and takes reservations. Prices are comparable to other mid range establishments. Service was friendly and responsive.
LOVED it. Came here for a late brunch on Sunday, paid $50 with coffees, tax and tip for an entree, side, and two hours bottomless drinks. Great food and service, would love to come back.
Great food and service and an amazing bartender.Rodrigo is a live reality show and great bartender
Very disappointed in this establishment! Management treats the staff poorly! Food is decent, but definitely not 5 stars, and combined with seeing and understanding how poorly the staff are treated makes this restaurant a pass.
If you are considering bottomless brunch, this is an amazing spot. Price is good, drinks were great and the food is worth it. Definitely coming back!
Wonderful atmosphere, thanks to music choices and accommodating staff! Great prices for lunch, and delicious food! Cant wait to come again. :)
Dope vibe, kind staff. They had a Kolsch (beer), which is my fave (light beer, FYI). And I got the black lobster pasta.
Came for brunch before Global Citizen Festival 9/28/18 food its warm atmosphere made it very enjoy able. Unlimited Mimosas anyone!
Always enjoy the Soujourn although it is usually loud. We ate at the bar area for the first time as it was not crowded on the holiday weekend. Good standby neighborhood joint.
Service is terrible. Ate brunch here. Wasn’t busy when we sat down and the food took over an hour. Had to ask for more water, overall the staff are not attentive. Food was average.
Place was okay. I didnt really see much of it, as I was focused on my date, who rejected me, secondary to no spark. Little discouraged right now, so I guess its not the restaurants fault.
Great place for Sunday brunch. Great atmosphere and food.
Loved the background music.. Great playlist... The food was what you would hope to expect from an above average unlimited brunch.. Would come back.. Decor is a mashup that might need a little work.
Good service (a bit slow but not inattentive). Food was quite good as well. The duck eggrolls were amazing.
Great place for brunch. There may be a wait for seating but it is worth it. They are quick with the refills during bottomless, and that is rare these days.
The food is very delicious, but i gave only 2 stars because it takes almost 45 minutes to cook our food.
Was surprised how delicious every single bite was, decent pricing, live music on a weekday, excellent service, cozy and romantic as well as sociable and good for groups. Can’t go wrong here.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and drinks! Our server Gabino was outstanding, very attentive and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!
Very nice Croque Madame with bottomless Bloody Marys, Mimosas, or Sangria. Whats not to like? Very good service.
Good food, great service and price, warm atmosphere in a nice neighborhood. Awesome experience!
Really really good. Nice atmosphere. Romantic. Low prices for delicious food. Great peach sangria. Great service.
Its a nice spot for a Sunday brunch. The food and service was good.
Excellent service (our waiters name was Julio) and delicious food. Try the duck, youll be glad you did!
Food was fine, nothing extraordinary, but wait was long despite being one of the only people in an otherwise empty restaurant. The general ambiance was weird; maybe just because it was so empty
Sojourns general absence from recommendation lists underscores the occasional pitfalls of such online resources. Sometimes, you need to speak to locals or get out and explore—because Sojourn is one of the best dining experiences of the Upper East Side.Dimly candlelit, the atmosphere is supremely cozy, with plentiful energy but also intimacy. The small plate selection is diverse, featuring an adequate assortment of vegetable, seafood and meat options, but not overwhelming. Size-wise, theyre relatively generous, where 2-3 per person—sharing, of course—leaves everyone satisfied. Our plates trickled out at the perfect frequency, leaving us plenty of time to experience each one fully—and a little wine in between.Speaking of wine, Sojourn offers and excellent selection, along with a fantastic lists for beer and cocktail lovers. The only drawback to my first Sojourn experience was the inability of our server to offer recommendations. Much to our surprise, she virtually recited the menu. But thankfully, the experience was otherwise full of delight, so another server will have a shot at redemption when I undoubtedly return!
This place did not respect mask-on policy. Please see the picture of the server pouring wine without using his mask. It was not a good experience for us and it is sad because the food was delicious.
The food was good but the service was inconsistent. A group of six went for Sunday brunch. I was surprised to see that it wasn’t super busy.Three people got the unlimited mimosa deal, and the server was very good about getting them refills. The rest of us were drinking water, coffee and soda. We asked several times for more water until one person finally went to the bar and asked for more water. The coffee order was incorrect and the soda never got refilled. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal.Overall, we enjoyed the meal but were surprised with the service given that it appeared they were adequately staffed and the restaurant was not full.
Its like having grandma right on the street corner. When you walk into Sorrisos the staff is always welcoming, and they will make you the best Italian sub youve ever had.
Went for Saturday brunch with a friend. We had the bottomless mimosas and I got the Hangover Cure. The food was great, flavorful and fresh! The mimosas were always full and the music was a fun dance playlist which made for a nice vibe and upbeat atmosphere! Highly recommend for a solid weekend brunch spot!
I love Sojourn and you can enjoy the experience with any size group. The food is always great, cocktails are delicious, and I love the cosy interior.
Good food and lively ambiance, slow service especially for drinks. Tequila Margarita super spicy!
Lovely interior but the bar tender gave non-attentive service unfortunately. Ignored us for quite some time despite few people in attendance.
I had the brunch special and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive to our group.
Great atmosphere and food. Nice variety of different types of food on the menu. Also nice drink menu.
Great place, the food is excellent, table service friendly and prices very reasonable. Recommended
Well worth the walk in the pouring rain. We were soaked but lunch was delicious, and not bad price for NYC.
Reliably great food. Can get pretty packed so eat early if you want to keep it chill.
Great food, do expect the place to be packed on the weekends but its worth it, great staff!
Good food, cocktails, and atmosphere, but service wasnt great despite being a slower night.
Good food. Pretty pricey. Waitress might as well ignored us.
Amazing tapas bar, great meat, cheese and wine!
It was great , great service, great food, enjoyed my time there. Definitely will go there again
Great quality food, amazing service and such a welcoming environment.
One of the best spots in the UES. Great food, live music, and they dont skimp on the drinks.
Had my engagement party here and John + Team were so incredibly helpful in the planning and execution. We had the best day celebrating with family and friends. Food was excellent and tent was decorated beautifully. Thanks again!!!
Great food. Slow but nice service and servers.Great neighborhood spot.
Great service and intimate ambiance. Nothing innovative really going on on this menu... Pretty pricey for what it is
Grace the server slayed. we did a pulsd deal and the server was still so sweet and great vibes and kept the mimosas flowing. a slay and half. will totally come back THANK U GRACE !!!!
Great food, great service, and they keep the brunch booze coming!
Waw , best place ! Tasty food , perfect service!
One of my favorite spots on the Upper East!Where do I begin…. The food is phenomenal and never misses! In the fall, their butternut squash soup on the menu is by FAR the best soup I’ve ever had in my life! Also, the duck spring rolls are *chef’s kiss.* On top of all that, Julio behind the bar makes the best drinks and you can tell he really loves what he does. All of the staff there is so friendly and it feels like a community when you walk through the doors. Nothing but love!To finish, the live music is probably some of my favorite in the city!
Excellent food and atmosphere. My sister in law goes there a lot.
Really nice place and prices are amazing and menu is awesome. I like that they also change it up and offer fresh options.
Great food. Reasonable prices. This is my new favorite place on the upper East side.
Food was ok. service slow. too loud.
Waited an hour, threatened to leave and then they rushed out cold food to try to keep us from leaving. Waist of time and money.
A bit pricey but food was decent
Really a half hour wait with 10 tables open and a half empty restaurant? LOL srsly not even really worth a try with the snotty attitude.
Fantastic variety and each dish was better than the last
The pasta bolognese and arugula salad were absolutely delicious! Service was just ok. Our waiter was also bartending.
Nothing special for brunch. Not worth the trip. I guess is good for locals.
Great food, service, atmosphere - wish we lived next door
Great food. Great service. Reasonable prices. Great place.
Small portions of okay food at a high price. Great atmosphere and that’s what you’re paying for. Takes a while for the food to get to the table even when it isn’t full.
This is the best restaurant hibachi 😃 it is fun, food and family all in one 👍👍👍
I have not been here and therefore cannot rate it. Google please give us a way to correct your wrongful decisions. The only way to post this message is to rate a place that I have not visited.
Great experience, enjoyed the brunch, drinks, and service.
Very noisy. Service was extremely slow.
Go do some shots with Sammy. Hes the man. Great bar
We ate at the bar. Good food, friendly service.
Monday pasta night! So good !! Customer service was great and the ambiance is perfect for a chill evening with friends.
Food was cold had hash-brown on the menu but instead served cold potatoes.
Excellent tapas restaurant, good dishes, very tasty. Go
This place is great! We went to bottomless brunch on the weekend and the drinks were very fun, the service was excellent, and the food, especially the eggs benedict, was fantastic!
This UES staple provides an intimate experience with a beautifully curated menu. The wine list will also complement your dining experience in this cozy and upscale restaurant.
Great cocktails and cool staff. Full recommendation.
Good food but small portions. Alcohol served at bottomless brunch is not good quality.
High end. Delicious. Well staffed and excel experience. Go!
10/10 Amazing food, try the skirt steak, black pasta w lobster & the croquettes.Amazing vibes and atmosphere. Love sitting both inside and outside depends on the weather but both are equally as good. It’s cute for dates, or drinks & din with friends. The vibe can be either which is really nice. Also love how you don’t feel on top of each other when sitting outside, it’s nice and spread out.Service is excellent. Waiters are always attentive, kind, and they don’t rush you (isn’t that the worst?!)The owner Sammy is the nicest guy! He introduced himself, chatted about the neighborhood, and gave us drinks on him.A true UES gem. Definitely go if you haven’t already!
Always a busy vibe for dinner at weekends. Server was friendly, prefer the regular tables rather than the high tops. Enjoyed the beet salad, duck spring rolls, skirt steak with fried rice, baby back rib special. Have been a few times now
Good food and cocktails. Prices are a little high for the serving sizes, but its a nice place for a date if youre on a medium budget. Vegetarian friendly. Had to knock off a star because they played Taylor Swift music the entire time.
Excellent service! Sammy greets everyone and feels like its a hometown bar! Great wine selection. Totally recommend coming here.
I visited for a birthday party and the service, ambiance and food were all incredible. We had the burrata salad, the chicken satay, the steak, fries and the poke. It was all incredible. The only negative I can say was that it was a bit too dark inside to where multiple patrons around the restaurant needed to use the flashlight feature on their phones to read the menu.
Nice staff and affordable, but food is nothing to write home about
Trendy area, small portions for the price. Good service, food was decent. A good place to hangout with friends.
Very much like a hotel breakfast. Service wasn’t great either.
Great Place, Best Place in the UES very good menu to attract all taste
Food qaulity is good. Service was ok.Menu failed to impress.
Great brunch spot, affordable unlimited boozy brunch!
Great service and comfortable for tapas with a group of friends
Really great meal / experience last night. The bartender, whose name I didnt get, was super friendly and let my try several wines to make sure I was happy with my final choice. Then we sat for dinner and the manager Jose, we outstanding in his service. He suggested a wine for us that we loved and it was very reasonably priced. The meal was delicious. Jose was funny and super friendly. The place itself is super cute with a really great ambiance.
Good brunch. Had steak & eggs and mimosa all good 👍
The food was delicious it just took too long
The food here is INCREDIBLE. Everything I ate tonight was extremely delicious! So, why 2 stars? The service was abysmal. Im still sitting at the table in the restaurant as I write this. Our reservation was at 8. We were seated at 830. Our waitress first arrived at our table at 845, and at that point we ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrees in one shot because it was clear that things were crazy. We didnt see the waitress again until 915 when she came and told us that they didnt have one of our appetizers. 30 minutes after we ordered it and after our entrees had been delivered. Let me reiterate, the food was spectacular but the service was very very bad. I may come back again, but I really hope that tonight was just a bad night.
A pleasant surprise! I didnt expect to like this restaurant so much but I really did. The food portions are pretty large and delicious. I think the waiter was taking too long to bring our bill and was chatting up too much with other patrons, but it did not detract from how great the space was. The decor was beautiful as well.
Food was good especially the kale and butternut squash salad, amazingly delicious.
Ive been here a few times now. I love a good margarita!! They make theirs with fresh lime juice. The atmosphere is lively. Great cheese plate. They have a little less for vegetarians than I like but I was able to find enough to eat. The staff are very friendly. Just an all around fun vibe to the place. Ive mostly been here to eat but I did go one time for after dinner cocktails when they had live music.
It gets pretty busy, so make a reservation for dinner Try the tuna.
Good place for brunch. They have bottomless mimosas which are not too bad. A nice place to hang out for a long time. Their crepes and almond bread are really good.
Went here for brunch. The hangover cure was fairly mediocre (tough chorizo bits, flavorless chard, but good poached eggs). My wifes French toast was good, but nothing you cant find at any other brunch spot. Service was fairly indifferent; it took quite some time to get our food and to get our check at the end despite asking for it twice.
The owner was fabulous. He has a fierce waiter as well, very elegant in handling business aka problem (drunk) customers. Nice drinks, smooth wine and cheese selections. They have made the dining g experience during COVID not only normal but welcoming.
The food was pretty good but and the portions felt adequate. They werent too big but if you got an appetizer for two people it would be fine. However, alone they wouldnt fill you up. The bad thing was the wait was very long we waited an hour for our food to come out. Luckily the appetizer came out early and were able to satiate us until the main course came out.
90s songs here are my all time favourite.
Nice atmosphere. Nice music. Many locals. Good food and drinks. Nice dating spot. Awesome ambience. Easy to get to. Highly recommend.
Great place for brunch. Mimosas are amazing, waitress is circling around to make sure your glass is full. Food in delicious. Good service
I cant begin to rate this place highly enough. My story on how I found Sojourn isnt typical by any means. It started while I was visiting a friend in New York. We went for a walk in nearby Central Park. As fate would have it, I lost my iPhone in the park. I was certain it was gone forever. I put my phone on lost mode and hoped for the love of god someone would call my friends phone with the good news. As time went by, it seemed bleaker and bleaker until I received a fateful call. Luck would have it a gentleman who happened to be the owner of Sojourn had found my phone in the park. He invited me over to Sojourn for drinks on the HOUSE! I couldnt believe it! I had offered whoever had my phone a reward, but here, I found myself being rewarded not only by his kindness but his hospitality. We made our way back to Sojourn, and I was astonished by not only his kindness but his staffs kindness. He even charged my phone back to a full 100%! We sat down and had some drinks, I cant tell you how well crafted they were. Our food ordered promptly (a big plus, we were starving from all that searching!) Again, I cant recommend this place enough. The food is amazing, the drinks are great, but most importantly the staff and the ambiance is out of this world. GO, GO, GO! Dont even think twice!
Super excited to have moved back to good ole UES. The manager, Jose, was such a delight. He used to serve us often years ago while he was a bartender and remembered us again when we came in years later. Such a friendly restaurant, with such delicious food. Ill be here often as luckily I live right next door. Sojourn is always part of my home.
