One of the top venues in all of NYC for live music from multiple genres in a single night. Was here a few weeks back and saw 3 different groups. One jazz quartet, a rock trio and a massive African artist who was actually just chilling with me at the bar before taking the stage with an crew as deep as Wu Tang. He tore it down and then the other guy next to me said he was there the next week with his band. I made sure to visit again as it was his birthday. If you ever hear of #PreachermanAndTheRevival and have a chance to catch him, DO NOT MISS it.Make sure you thank me later 😉

If youre looking for live music, Shrine is definitely a place to visit. With several different sets throughout the night, you can hear a variety of music. The bar area is spacious enough and the performance area is cozy. Boom boxes, records, album covers and others decorate the interior, mixed in with African statues and masks.Everyone was friendly, staff and patrons and I had a great first visit there.

The Shrine is a fun place to stop for a drink while you see who is playing. I have heard some really interesting music unlike anything I previously was exposed to (from Nigerian rap to Balkan soul). You can check the lineup on their website to see who will be on, or just stop in and check it out. It is usually standing-room-only at night, and extremely loud, so not great for conversation. The food comes from Yatenga next door (in fact, there is a door leading directly between the two) but if its food you want, I would just go there before or after. There is a great selection of beers ($4-7) and never a cover charge.

Always a great time and a celebration of the African diaspora through music, singing, and dance. Live music and good drinks. They are checking IDs and vax cards at the door for each guest. They also have coat check in the basement for 2$. I love that their bathrooms are single stalls and gender neutral. A gem of Harlem over the years ❤️❤️❤️

My beau and I went here on May 15th, 2024 and it was my first time visiting and I just so happened to be blessed enough to help celebrate the location’s 30th Anniversary! The food is excellent and so are the drinks but don’t take it from me because I’m not a “drinker”. The seating is set up to make you not want to stay long that’s my only complaint 😩 and I suffer from back issues. But Harlemites please support this venue and help keep it alive. Protect this small gem at all costs. There’s sooooo much history in this place. All over the walls and ceilings. It’s beautiful! And the band…OMG! THE BAND…😍
