The restaurant was impressive, with a welcoming environment, delicious food and quick service. The chicken was especially flavorful and even the salad - a dish I usually don’t enjoy at restaurants - was fresh and tasty. The maduros side was also excellent and the prices were very reasonable, making the meal well worth it. I’m already looking forward to returning! I couldn’t also forget to mention how delicious those hand cut French fries were….
Pio holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite lunch restaurants in NYC. But today my aunt is eating inside with her coat on. When she asked for the heat to be turned up, she was ignored and diners are currently eating indoors, wearing their coats, hats, and scarves. No solution has been offered. It’s currently 18° in NYC 🥶❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️😰
The bottom line is that this place offers really good Peruvian food! I went to another Pio Pio in UES that is more casual, and has cheaper prices. This location, which is going for a more fine dining vibe, charges a bit more for that even though you’re getting the same quality food. ($30 for a fish entrée struck me as about right, but spending $16 for a plate with rice and a moderate portion of beans struck me as high, especially since lots of places include at least rice with an entrée.) This place, the only Peruvian spot on the UWS, gets crowded and as a result it gets noisy, so at least for me, it’s not the kind of spot where you would want to linger after finishing your food. But hey, that’s just me. Judging from the crowds, Pio Pio is the go to spot for Peruvian food and deserves its fine reputation.
This place is literally the best, been going to this restaurant for 7 years and I’m still not bored of the food. I usually get Salchipapa and it’s delicious, though the only complaint I have is that over here the salt tastes like beef flavoring. Some of them are okay but for some reason every time I use the salt I don’t get that salty flavor. Just meat. But overall the food, atmosphere and especially the customer service is very good. The workers there are very nice and funny, they even sing “Happy birthday” on your birthday lmao 😂 I love this place so much
DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE EMPANADAS. Seriously. The best empanadas I’ve had in NY. Filled to the brim, well-marinated, very crispy exterior and they also added some olives to add taste to the filling. For those who know what (Singapore-style) curry puffs are, these are like the Peruvian version, and better. They offer free delivery through their website (minimum 11.99). The food was delivered much quicker than expected, and the empanadas were still very crispy after delivery.I also tried the chicken. It was good, but not the best I’ve tried. The 1/4 portion is quite small (similar to 1/4 of a spring chicken) so you might want to order 1/2.
Excellent food and and service!I sat at the bar and the bartender Fernan was super nice and made a good White Sangria. They take good care of their guests! Definitely check this place out! Another plus was I literally waited less than 5 minutes for my food! Talk about fast, quick, and friendly service! Make sure you have their green sauce!! Peruvian food whenever I go into Manhattan is a must!!
We order ceviche Limeño and was very tasty. Also we get the matador combo and the chicken is amazing, the best in NYC. Is a big plate with several sides perfect for sharing with friends (for 3 people or more). And we try also the maracuyá pisco and was sweet. The place is very crowded and looks really family style.
Loved this Peruvian place. They have all the classic dishes. Everything we had was great - chicken empanadas, lomo saltado and chaufa. We walked in on a Friday evening and were able to get a table without waiting, and service was pretty efficient.
This by far the best Pio Pio location out of all. Chickens are fresh, I mean meat off the bone type of fresh. Go here.
Every time I visit Manhattan I dine at Pio Pio. Today was the first time there was an issue with the food. However, as soon as my wife and I brought it to the attention of our waiter, he made things right.Despite the hiccup, Pio Pio 6 remains one of my favorite spots to get a bite to eat.
Perfection from food to service , always a great vibe here !! 😇Drinks are made to perfection by their professional mixologists 😄Staff are friendly and provide fast serviceFood is fresh and tasty 😋 try their different dipping sauces available for $$ but totally worth it 😊Music is enjoyableStreet parking 🅿️
Favorite go to spot. Service is always quick and the food is so delicious. Some of the best chicken I’ve had in NYC. Their rice and beans are also insanely good. Never disappoints
The Service was excellent. The food was delicious & seasoned perfectly. The portions were large and we all had some food to take home.
This place is amazing, the view the food and the service, cured my recent craving on Peruvian food!
I was just there with visitor from foreign country Food was good until chef sent the order with a old refried tostones when I say old tasted and the was like the plantain was from previous dish and they refried and placed in our order . Disgusting!
Solid delicious food, the soup of the day was chicken lentil and it was really good. Chicken is always delicious here, service is amazing. Highly recommended restaurant.
This was a favorite spot for me 15yrs ago when I was in the UES. Now that I discovered this UWS location I am so happy. The chicken is just as amazing as I remembered it. The muduros are perfect. The space is much bigger than the UES location. The staff was very attentive. Will be back for sure.
Great Peruvian restaurant, not expensive. For all family they served a lot of tasty food. I would recommend the rotisserie chicken marinated in mama Juanita’s, arroz chaufa, empanadas de pollo, causa de atún, jalea( this is a plate based of seafood) and you can drink sangria, black modelo beer.one fact ... they are always full so if you are very hungry go with time so you do not despair if you have a few minutes of waiting to enter or have a reservation.
The food was good, but the fried plantains (tostones) were too dry.
Came here for a Friday dinner, and it was great. The empanadas were perfectly crispy without being oily, and the filling and sauces were flavorful. The chicken was tender and juicy. The complimentary green sauce is as good as everyone says. Drinks are good too.
Great food and service, our server I believe his name was Roberto was excellent . But can we please put some steak on the menu.
We were in the area and decided to go to Pio Pio. The food was amazing. My wife and I left very full and very happy. The Corvina a lo Macho is amazing. We will definitely go back to Pio Pio.
Excellent service, I love coming to this restaurant for lunch. The attention is fabulous and the Peruvian food is very rich. If you visit us in NY, be sure to go. They will love it.💖🎉
I truly recommend this restaurant. The food has a relatively cheap price, given its astonishing quality. The staff and the waiters were extremely polite and nice at all times, and were continuously filling up our glasses with water. I strongly recommend the menu from 11 am to 4 pm, since it includes a big portion of chicken with side food (which includes several amazing choices) as well as a salad and a soda.
The best chicken. And such a great deal . Cant beat it.
From the empanada to the fried rice with chicken, to the awesome plantain, this Peruvian style restaurant is a must go to if youre in the City!
Ordered $52.00 dollar meal & shared it. The chicken was extremely salty, couldnt eat it. Too much salt is so bad for you. They really should think about their customers health. We asked them if they could change it & he did but it was just as bad. Wont go back there again. Its unfortunate because I had been there before & it was really good. Amsterdam spot needs to check their food.
The majority of the time it’s a hit. Once in a while their chicken is alright but I keep going back. They have one of the best sangrias as well lol
Best damn chicken Ive ever had. Arroz chaufa is great too.
The service wasnt as attentive as I thought. He ordered our food, served us, and that was it. There was only 1 check-in after that. The rice was very hard, and I had more fries than the actual steak. I ordered the Lomo, by the way. No lie, I probably had 8 little pieces of the steak, tons of fries, n sliced tomatoes w onions.Just wasnt pleased at all.
I was so happy to see Pio Pio survive the pandemic. This place is amazing. You must order the Matador Combo. Just look at the pictures to see everything you get. This fed three of us and was amazing. The chicken was tender. The sausage and fries were a great combination. Just amazing for the price point. Also, the sangria is great to share, though the price between a full pitcher and a half pitcher doesn’t add up (it’s cheaper to buy two halves than one full?)A must try if you find yourself near a Pio Pio. Service was great as well.
One of the best rotisserie chicken I’ve ever had
This place was great the chicken was perfectly cooked and the passion fruit margarita was hands down the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot I had 6 of them this day maybe to much but I definitely enjoyed them love this place definitely recommend
The service was really great, however we felt that the food was lacking flavor in many areas and some of the food that came out was not cooked properly. The place itself also could use more lighting, its pretty deemed to eat in our opinion. The location gives them great upside but definitely have things to improve.
Comfy place, quick service, decent food. Had the rotisserie chicken, which holds its own against the standard-bearer: Malecón on 176th. They have that green spicy sauce that is popular in lots of Spanish places, so if thats your thing, definitely drop in, you wont be disappointed.
We went for a work dinner and I know it was quite the ordeal to manage a table of 16. The food was delicious as always, service was immaculate and they always make you feel welcome. I’ll be bringing my partner to this location next time since it’s in the neighborhood! PIOPIO is the goat 🎉
The sangria was good, we got the half pitcher and it was enough for 3 glasses (as seen in the picture). For starters, we had the calamari (8 out of 10), I had the Salmon del Pio, which was a 9 out of 10 for me, and my wife had the seafood combination ( 9 out of 10). All the food was delicious, the staff were friendly and responsive, and the environment was clean and appealing. I would recommend to anyone that does not mind the bit above average pricing.
The food is really good, service is good , drinks are good, price is right ,overall a good dining experience
I’ve been to half their locations so far and this one is the best I’be tried. The chicken was cooked just right so the skin was a little crispy and still had the sour bite from the marinade. The green sauce was thick and scrumptious. And my takeout was still hot and delicious even after I drove it back to Brooklyn. I always trust a restaurant that knows how to pack a takeout order, and you should too.
Very delicious meal for a decent price. We had the combo at $64 and still ended up taking food home. Friendly staff, fast and courteous service, and a nice ambience. Also, located close to the 1,2,3 subway line.
I invite you to visit this wonderful place, its dishes are delicious, the portions are quite large, you can share them or else order what you cannot eat to bring the wonderful attention and a charming variety. This place you can go with your family, friends, neighbors, it is really Peruvian food. I recommend
I often order the lunch special; chicken leg, salad, with rice and beans. I love the salty, lemony salad dressing with avocado! Whoevers cooking the rice and beans is putting better flavor than previously. I dont think my taste buds have changed.... Disappointed they started charging for the avocado (used to be included), in addition to raising the price, but its still value for money. You leave full and satisfied. Yum
I attended a networking event at this location, and let me tell you about my experience! I alongside my colleagues ABSOLUTELY enjoyed our entire night! The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and the service/attention to details was amazing! Would totally recommend them and hosting abilities for parties of 25ppl.
Pio Pio is a must-visit restaurant for anyone who loves delicious and authentic Latin American cuisine. With several locations throughout Manhattan, Pio Pio is known for its mouth-watering rotisserie chicken and beautiful rice, which are both consistently cooked to perfection. The chicken at Pio Pio is incredibly flavorful and juicy, thanks to the restaurants signature marinade and slow roasting process. The skin is crispy and golden, while the meat inside is tender and moist. The rice, which is often served alongside the chicken, is fluffy, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. In addition to the excellent chicken and rice, Pio Pio also offers a variety of other dishes that are equally delicious. The ceviche, for example, is fresh and tangy, while the plantains are crispy and sweet. And of course, no meal at Pio Pio would be complete without trying one of their signature sauces, which range from mild and creamy to spicy and tangy. The atmosphere at Pio Pio is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a vibrant Latin American ambiance. Whether youre grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner with friends and family, Pio Pio is a great choice for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Latin American cuisine.Overall, I would highly recommend Pio Pio to anyone looking for excellent rotisserie chicken, beautiful rice, and a memorable dining experience. With its consistently delicious food, friendly staff, and vibrant atmosphere, Pio Pio is truly a gem among Manhattans many dining options.
My friend Victor’s been treating us with Pio Pio Peruvian roast chicken take-out every time we come to NYC so to change it up we dined at UWS location on 95th and Amsterdam. The atmosphere is swankier than I aspected, staff donned in pressed all-black attire and tables draped in white linen and dimed lighting. We ordered Matador combo which comes with one whole Juanitas rotisserie chicken, plate of saffron rice with red beans, avocado salad and fried palatines with aji verde (green) sauce, to say the least we killed the Matador! You must must have their amazingly smooth yet powerful sangria, we loved it so much had 2 pitches with our meal and with all the excitement of great food and drinks I left my backpack which was safely kept and returned when I went back, what honest amazing service, gracias 🙏🏽
Ordered the half chicken with rice and beans and it was very big in size and the portion was good. The chicken itself needed a little bit more seasoning but nothing you can’t add on yourself.I tried to ask a lady who was working there if I could charge my phone as it was dead and she was ridiculously rude and snapped at me saying she ‘isn’t responsible’. All she had to do was say yes or no, there was no need for the nasty attitude. Other than that rude little girl, the food was okay and price was ok
Well when my rice pudding have more rice that my chicken main dish there is obviously a problem.Real step down from their location in queens.Very dissatisfied!
Juanitas chicken was absolutly dry. Very dissapointment. Sangria was great until I felt the pinneaple. Waiters are super nice.
Lomo saltado was-too salty and white rice looks and taste if it was cook last night
Rotisserie chicken has always been my go to meal when am looking to have something convenient and tasty. I first had this when I lived in the Upper West Side in the early 90s. There was a place thats was walking distance from the apartment and it was also open late so it was a delight. I previously reviewed that restaurant and have since moved higher in the UWS, though there are still a few similar places.Pio Pio is one such restaurant, advertised as An Authentic Peruvian Cuisine Pollo a la Brasca Rotisserie Chicken with our famous Aji Verde Green Sauce. Have only dined there once for dinner and then a few times have taken out. This is actually the first time I am having food delivered so hopefully, the order is still warm enough so it will not require re heating.I ordered their Juanitas Chicken, which as mentioned is rotisserie chicken which is marinated in mama Juanitas authentic recipe. It comes with 2 side sauces of Aji Verde which is a spicy Peruvian sauce made with cilantro, jalapeños, a little mayonnaise and Parmigiano. It is bold and bright, spicy and tangy and packed with fresh flavor.I also got a side dish of Maduros or more popularly known as sweet plantains. They are similar to bananas though have less sugar and similarly, are picked and shipped while green then change color to yellow then black as they ripen. So, I placed the order and the receipt mentioned it would take 43 minutes.Well, barely 20mins have passed and got buzzed that my order had arrived. Both plates were actually still hot.So, how was it? Amazingly delicious. The chicken was cooked just right and very juicy. It was not salty so perfect. The maduros were excellent as well with just a slight hint of sweetness.Rather than just putting it on a plate, decided to make a sandwich out of it, adding tomatoes, black garlic and ground pepper to the mix. It made the sandwich even more yummy. Definitely a great meal on a Friday afternoon. If ever you are in the neighborhood, check out Pio Pio. There are other branches aside from the UWS like Rego Park, Jackson Heights, UES and Brooklyn. Amazing food..
The food was delicious...The drinks were refreshing (had a Viejo Verde, yet had pisco mojitos another time and they were lovely as well)...Ive only eaten the seafood dishes, and they were all delightfully tasty...The service was okay...the attitude appears to be, due to the price of the food, the tip will be decent anyway, so Ill just serve food, talk with my buddies, and basically ignore certain customers...The atmosphere is nothing special, yet it is a nice neighborhood place...I havent tried the hyped Peruvian chicken, but if its like the other menu choices that Ive had, its probably quite good...
Even though theyve raised the price of the matador meal, it is still an excellent deal for a tremendous amount of food. My family gets it every time, Peruvian chicken with green sauce, salchipapas (basically hot dogs and fries), an Avocado and greens salad, rice and beans and plantains if you want them (my family opts for more salchipapas). The service is always lightning fast. We also love the chaufa (Peruvian fried rice).
They sit you pretty close to everyone its already a small place but you can basically reach your hand out & touch the next person. Other than that their food is really good especially their rotisserie chicken HIGHLY recommend. Drinks are good too my boyfriend ordered two.
Ive never eaten better tasting chicken anywhere, ever! And friendly service!
Had a great lunch staff very efficient l recomend this place.
I really liked this restaurant! Prices are a little higher than usual but its really good. I had the seafood and it was amazing. A lot of people come for the chicken as well. Good drinks, good food, great service, they bring the food pretty fast and everything is clean. Good place to come with q date or family if you know what I mean.
One of our favorite places to eat in NYC. Lots of options for carnivores, pescatarians and vegetarians. Love so many of the dishes here. And we love love love the spicy green sauce they give you to add to everything. Ask for extra! Terrific, friendly, knowledgeable staff. We’ve never eaten other Peruvian food, but if the rest is like this, we want more!
The Peruvian chicken is seriously FANTASTIC especially when you add their famous green sauce! The sangria is tasty and strong!! Definitely good bang for your buck. Their ceviche options are all delicious and authentic. We’ve also tried a variety of appetizers and they’re all great.
The prices were a bit higher than I expected but the food and service were exceptional. I enjoyed eating there and will definitely return. Next time I will go at lunch time since they have a good lunch special.
Loved the food and service. The dishes are very authentic. I like to try something new everytime I go and Ive never been dissapointed. We didnt have a reservation but were able to find a table very easily. The staff was very helpful and recommended dishes for those who were there for the first time.
It looks like they don’t have the same cooks, the roasted chicken used to be the best dish but now it’s dry and doesn’t have the same yummy taste that it did before. They need their old cooks back if they want to keep their loyal customers. Service is still good, can’t blame them for management mess up.
Warm Compassionate Staff. Great Authentic Peruvian Cuisine. Generous Portions. Wonderful Lunch Special!
I ordered Arroz Chaufa and a Sangria with Calamari as appetizers 🥰 The food was delicious and the service was great !!
It was pretty okay. The prices were a bit outrageous. The pisco sours were delicious. The restaurant is a bit crowded. I feel like the tables could be spread out a bit more. I went there with elderly grandparents and they had a hard time moving. Food was okay
Very nice atmosphere not a lot of people went there on Saturday. The food was amazing and also the sangria you must try😍
I like the modern atmosphere but I had problem reading the menu because of the dim lights. I did not like the rotisserie chicken, it didnt have the Peruvian flavor and the size of the chicken was very small for the price. The fried potato taste like it was re fried but the salad was very good. The server was friendly. Another disappointment was the restrooms, they were dirty.
Fricking delishious food!!! Service was very fast, and the food was Amazing!!!
Great peruvian cuisine ! An all time favorite.
The food is excellent. The prices are on the high side. Portions are quite impressive, so if you have a hunger going on they will most likely accommodate you nicely depending on what you order. The service Is why I am only giving 3/5. Our server was grumpy and took the wine glasses away premptive my order. I asked about beer but I was debating a nice glass of red.Hey ho, saved me buying overpriced house wine I guess. Our main gripe is that once our food arrived we were pestered by two different servers, a minimum of four times, if the food was ok. Thats not customer service, thats stalking...It felt uncomfortable, almost as if they thought we were eating and running or something. Ive seen it in films..lol I was with my 25yr old son, so hardly a young couple out for a lark. It was annoying, but again, the food is excellent. I would recommend this restaurant. I had the shrimp in sauce with Quinoa, very delicious. My son had the ceviche (a little too lemony for my palette), Both cleanly made and decent portions.
Good food. High prices. Noisy, with tables of drunks shouting and singing. Frequent Happy Birthday choruses by waiters at various tables. It was hard to hold a conversation over the din.The place cleared out and the wait staff seemed to forget we were there, so after 25 minutes or so I went looking for someone who would bring us a check.I wont be back.
The rotisserie chicken is amazing. Im a good cook and they just do it better and more flavorfull. The wife and I love to bring it home, our 1 yr old boy loves it too. Dining in is a pleasant experience as staff is very good
As soon as I steeped in I was welcomed and offered a table and just needed to confirmed the people I was with. They pay close attention which is great, I loved it. The person who was taking care of us was very aware of our need for water, drinks and whenever the table needed to be clean from empty plates. Definitely will be coming back! My favorite are first, the JALEA 😍🤤(seafood) and second is the MATADOR 🤤😍(Hispanic broil chicken)
Food was great, we had an amazing time on my wifes birthday until the moment we had to pay. The server came back and said that the credit card machine was broken and they asked us for cash payment.there were 15 of us and the bill was about $650. How were we going to pay all in cash? This was so ridiculous, I pointed out to other people who were paying by card, and we paid by card. This was so bad, it ruined our evening.
My first time there. Went to support my friend who finish the NYC Marathon. The ceviche was delicious and Drinks were great. Will recommend
Food was good, but the service was ridiculous. We came at 9:45pmand were told that the restaurant closes at 10pm despite the hours on google showing that they are open until 11pm. Were permitted to sit but were rushed to order. More people came in 5 minutes after us and were denied service. Before paying for our check, we asked for a can of coke. The waiter replied that the bar is closed. Really? You need to open a bar to sell a can of coke? This place might have good food but service and management is a complete joke. Good luck! I won’t be back. Word of advice to the owners: log onto your google profile AND CHANGE THE HOURS!
Good food, nice portions, fresh & delicious, great prices! Yummy lunch special from Monday-Fridays til 4pm. Complete meal!
West side Pio Pio is much bigger than its east side branch. It also is a lot less wait for a table no matter how large the group. The food is much better cooked and served. The all male wait staff is not bad to look at either. Pleasant pick for ladys night.
This is american style Peruvian food. At first the service was okay but when I told my server I had been to Peru, he became friendlier. Generous portions! I feel like the dishes are served family style and should be shared with the table versus given to one person. The tres leches isnt that good. The sangria was delicious.
Food was excellent and the service was A1. The entire staff checked up on us periodically and our glasses were never empty. Its been a few years since I had some Pio Pio and this positive experience reminded me what Ive been missing out on, me and my girlfriend revisited this location a couple of days after our first experience because everything was so good. Fries 🍟 were everything and the chicken 🍗 was succulent. My girlfriend ordered the rice and muduros, also excellent. Two ✌🏿 thumbs up 👍🏿 👍🏿
Still mouth watering after all. Have a Pisco while you wait. Chicken and plantains are nicely seasoned.
Ordered yellow rice red beans baked chicken along with a avocado salad. The red beans were very watery and had no tasteThey gave us white rice instead of yellow rice and the white rice had brown in it because it was burnt.I called to let them know about it and ask for maybe a discount or something being that the order was not good and they said no.
Ordered 4 orders of food and they got them all wrong and serving sizes are tiny for an absurd price. 80 dollars for 4 orders of rice and 2 of the chicken the size of the photo attached . Ridiculous after I had them repeat the order multiple times for 4 orders of the chicken not 2.
We planned for a family dinner this evening at Pio Pio and arrived there at around 9:30 p.m., at the end of a 85 degree day. As soon as we entered we immediately noticed how miserably warm and uncomfortable the restaurant was, with no AC. I asked the host if the air conditioning was on, and he responded by ushering us to a table in a cramped corner on the side of the restaurant, which he promised was fresher. It was not. If anything it was even hotter and stuffier in the corner. After two or three minutes we decided to leave rather than be uncomfortable. We explained that it was too hot in the restaurant, yet they STILL did not offer to turn the air conditioning on. So instead, we walked across the street and had Japanese food in a relaxing, air-conditioned environment at Khouzan. I wont be back to Pio Pio any time soon because a restaurant that is too cheap to turn on its airconditioning system must not be doing very well.
The food is delicious here! So tasty, and the waitstaff is awesome. We made a mistake on the tip on our bill but didnt notice and the waiter chased us outside to correct it. 💜
At first it always seems a little difficult to get a seat at this place. It is always busy, but you get to finally sit down and order your drinks its smooth sailings. The cocktails are great, the food is even better, and the prices are the best. I enjoy the place every time I go.
The most pricey chicken in town. U will get a 4lb chicken for 20$ it tastes good, but waaay to pricey. If you have financial freedom, its a place for you. 4 ppl dinner will easily run for 100$$ if you sit down always ask them for their green sauce. Outstanding sauce!! Included in the meal
Food was Great. Food also came pretty quickly. Great service
Reduced menu choices, food quality short of mediocre. Sangria cocktails overly sweet. Regrettably, not the good place it used to be pre-pandemic. Certainly a loss in my list of decent neighborhood restaurants. Not recommended.
The staff is not attentive at all, very unproffesional. I ordered the Empanadas for an appetizer. I also asked him to suggest other popular items as an appetizer. After doing so, I said I will just stick with the Empanadas. Everyone who did order an appetizer at my table got theirs except for me. I addressed it to the waiter. I told him since I didnt get it, so please take it off the bill. He kept insisting that I didnt order the Empanadas. The manager wind up coming over, and asked if everything was okay. He asked is there a problem? Did I want Empanadas. I told him what happened, and he too said dont worry about it being on the check, because I didnt order it. He wasnt there when I ordered it, so how would he know? We were patient, but we also had to ask for the check 4 different times before they brought it over. It wasnt even that busy in there at the time. I dont care much for this location. Even though its much smaller on 1st Ave, the service is so much better at Pio 3.
Food was a little too salty maybe its what I ordered but it was still good.. employees very nice the ones I came across.. I went on a Friday around 8 and it was real busy. Not very much room your pretty much sitting like 2 inches away from other ppl I didnt like that too much i felt kind of clustered but if you dont mind tight spaces you will be fine.. tamarind mojito was delicious.
Really great Peruvian food with authentic sauces, drinks, and platters. The roasted chicken was incredible and may very well be the best chicken I have ever had. If you are not ordering it with yucca fries instead of French fries that is just a mistake, please try them it’s delicious. Then the green sauce is a menu item for good reason. It goes well with everything and I heavily debated taking some to go. If you have never had a pisco drink before I highly recommend it. My personal favorite is the pisco sour with passion fruit (pisco con maracuyá or maracuyá sour). I also recommend the lúcuma ice cream as well it was incredibly refreshing.
This was a different location than the one I usually go to, I got the same dish (Arroz Chaufa) and was disappointed. The chicken was hard and dried out and the flavor was off. I dont think it was freshly made. I still like Pio Pio and I will give them another chance.... However, the service at this locations was awesome.
Good chicken and some Peruvian dishes
I like the food here but I feel they can adjust the prices due to the chicken being small.
Please, please, please OPEN UP your own store! If you do, I will only go to your store for VEGAN DESSERTS. I love you Sweet and Sara, you have made all my VEGAN dreams come true minus one (OPEN A STORE PLEASE)!I have encountered Sweet & Sara all over the city and really wish they would OPEN a STORE! Hey, have I convinced you enough to open a store? They were at this years 2012 Vegetarian Food Festival and I didnt move from their stand for sometime. I really like their marshmallow treats. They have all kinds, including toasted coconut, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. They also make brown rice krispy treats. All their desserts are so so good, and the best of all, it is all VEGAN.I love you Sweet & Sara. Please just open up a store already. You have a huge fan base already!
Chicken was so delicious and tender. Empanadas pastry was savory. Ensalada de avocado went so well with the half chicken. Was in there while they were closing and did not at all feel rushed. Definitely going back.
Delicious food and great service
The food is good but the customer service needs improvement. I called to place an order and pick it up on my way home, I was placed on hold and left there I actually walked to the restaurant and found the lady just standing there with paperwork on her hand... I told her I was still on hold but she looked at me like I was crazy. It took me 19 minutes to get there, no apology, nothing just an oh well, what can I get you?
The limeno ceviche was very fresh! I ordered lomo saltado to go. Unfortunately the Lomo Saltado was disappointing. There was on 5 small strips of steak, and a massive amount of fries instead. Not much gravy. The ceviche saved this review!
Pio Pio 6 is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. The diverse fusion of Peru’s cuisine can truly be tasted in the dishes that this restaurant prepares. I highly recommend chicken empanadas and Lomo SaltadoMy only complaint about the restaurant itself is that it can get pretty noisy, sometimes to the extent where I can’t hear the person across from me. This is why I chose to deduct a star from its rating.
We got the papa rellena appetizer (AMAZING), and the matador combo. The combo was HUGE, way too much food for just two of us to eat, easily could have served three, maybe four people. We took some home, and the reheated leftovers werent great (as with many foods fried or packed with oils), but the actual meal in the restaurant was SO delicious. Chicken, beans, rice, and avocado salad were fabulous. The only thing we werent a fan of were the tostones, which were pretty dry. But the papa rellena...COME ON! Gotta get it. Well be back!
Wonderful I visit this spot because my mom resides on 96 between Columbus and Amsterdam. She is 86 years old and a fire cracker they are so accommodating and patient with her and me lol. We have been patrons since they opened and love the matador combo our favorite. The waitors and hostess are always pleasant and like I said really caring with my mom.
The food is great. The service is quick and unobtrusive. The drinks are very good, especially the red sangria. A few of those and all is right in the world. Pastachie(?) is a great bartender.
One of the best,Quality and price
Made a reservation for a graduation lunch more than a month in advance. We arrive here and there’s 1.5 waiters. Food is served without utensils or plates. Everything needs to be ask for multiple times before they actually remember to bring it out. I’ve been to other Pio Pio restaurants and this is by far the worst one. Just make your way to Flor de Mayo for a better experience and better food. Unfortunately, they automatically add gratuity for large parties (we were a party of 30). FTS. EMA.
The food at this Pio Pio was not good. I ordered the Chaufa rice and empanadas. The rice had no flavor at all, the vegetables looked and tasted fresh so that is why I gave two stars. The chicken empanadas made me sick. I have eaten at other Pio Pio restaurants before the food is usually great. Very disappointed, hope this Pio Pio location reads this and see how can improve.
Pio Pio Upper West Side was ok. its definitely overrated since the food is definitely not the best. The lunch special for $9.95 is what brought me to this place years ago. They stopped promoting it, and hand you the regular menu during lunch hours, so if youre unaware of the specials youll order full price. Recently, the service had been terrible. Long waits during the afternoon, waiters seem tired or angry all the time, no smiles, zero attention. I usually order the 1/4 chicken lunch special with Yuca frita, it used to be accompanied by a lettuce, tomatoes, avocados salad. They recently changed the portion to a much smaller one thats sloppily prepared and NO AVOCADOS! Pio pio its a shame, will not be returning.
Great Peruvian food. Be sure to try their specialty green sauce!Go with a big group and get the Matador Combo - its good for 2-3 people and comes with a variety of sides.
Our favorite go-to chicken, ceviche, and sublime cocktails. A family place in the Peruvian style, small bar with a great bartender. Sauce aji verde on every table, Lomo Saltado on the menu, great french fries. Friendly pro staff brings me back again and again.
Im peruvian so trust me when I say the food here is so bad. The chicken was dry! ceviche was okay but not that great. and the Aji Verde was disgusting!!!!! It had to much mayo in it. the tostones were bad too. its a cute place but the food is definitely not worth it.
A very nice experience! Amazing combo that had a nice sort of things and nice quantity. Also, a delicious ceviche! Recommended for whom is looking for comfort food!
This place is the shiz. Amazing food and even better sangria. Extremely fast service, the food usually comes out 15 min after we order. Get the matador combo for 2 people and its plenty of food.
Ive tried 2 other Pio Pio locations and unfortunately I did not enjoy the food in this one. I ordered ceviche mixto and it was not worth $18. My bf and I ordered the same thing and we both looked at each other shocked at how little food it was. Ive ordered ceviche in their location in the Bronx and we had a good size meal. We were not full after eating it and had to ask for an order of salchipapas.
We visited Pio Pio on a pleasant sunday for lunch, I love the neighborhood feeling, patrons coming to lunch after the mass. We Ordered Ceviche, empanadas de pollo and the signature chicken, can’t go wrong with them. We are a little disappointed with their Picante de Camarones this time, it’s one of my husband’s favorite dishes in town and it wasn’t as strong as usual. Nonetheless, a great spot!
We had our wedding reception here because they had the best flan and best sangrias in the city. It has changed, but still under the same owners. The food is interesting and they still have great sangrias.
Terrible service.0 out of 10.. It was like pulling teeth to get the waiter to acknowledge us..also- loud cheesy 80s songs in a Peruvian restaurant wasnt exactly the vibe we were expecting..the Pollo was dry as wood. Dont waste your money in this place.
ALL PLUS+ EXCEPT FOR ONE LITTLE ISSUE FOR THE OWNERS!Invest in some acoustical ceiling tiles. I could barely hear the server speak as the place was packed with a far too loud group of cackling women who were there for some sort of girly celebration. The noise was bounding off the ceiling like amplifier and it was annoying beyond description. I needed ear plugs for dinner and I had to use sign language a few times with my dinner partner. Yea, yea, I know it looks cool a smooth ceiling and all but seriously there are plenty of people like myself not wishing to hear every bodys conversation in ++decible amplification. It would be a deal breaker for me when it comes to good food with unbearable noise and no conversation, and good food and the possibility of having a nice conversation with my peeps. I would never take a group there if I could not enjoy hearing everyone praise the incredibly good food. So YES, the food was amazing and the sangria was intoxicating, but not a great place for a quiet romantic dinner when crowded. For under $500 Pio, you could make your money back in no time.Enjoy!
A wonderful Peruvian place. The roast chicken is amazing, and the seafood dishes are great! Definitely going back.
Im Peruvian, and I have to say the chicken is very good here. Love pollo a la brasa and the green sauce. Sangrias are good too.Im not sure about the rest of the menu because I havent tried it.
I love their lunch special here! They give you way more rice and beans than some of their other locations. Such a deal for the price and it usually lasts me two days.
I enjoyed the service, food and ambiance.
JUAN FERNANDO is the best bartender I ever seen !!!!
Food was amazing and the space was comfortable despite the high cold winds. The staff was very attentive. Passion fruit Margherita and Lomo salteado
The food was horrible the chicken wasnt fully cooked the rice was mushy and smelled. I waited 35 min for my order and not the 10-15 min host said it would take for my togo order. Pio pio on the west side needs to close immediately, they recently opened since covid however, the food is not what is used to be. We threw out the food and since we were not going to travel back to the city we couldnt return the DISGUSTING food.
Yum, yum, yummy! Great music is the background just loud enough to hear but low enough to talk. Lightly seasoned food! Great customer service!
Great food always...sangria is one of the best. Attentive, friendly staff. All dishes are great!!
Welllll, service was great but my rating was for the food. The chicken is disgusting and tasteless. We had also ordered the ceviche in which tasted like plain lime and fish. We were extremely disappointed in the experience that we had with the food.
Pio pio offers delicious Peruvian food and amazing drinks. Their star menu item is the Matador platter. It is enough to feed 2-3 and is really yummy. The wait staff is kind, accommodating and want to make sure that you are enjoying your Pio Pio experience.
Wish there were more Pio Pio locations.Chicken is great.Rice & beans good.Fried yuca excellent.Maduras, youre mileage may vary. Sometimes spot-on, other days a miss.Salad is good.Everything is pretty much a delivery mechanism for their Aji Amarillo (spicy green) sauce, which is highly addictive, and of course delicious.Tip: Best for at least 4 people because everything is a la carte, and if you like a little taste of everything its too expensive split amongst just two people.
Excellent food! The lomo saltado was juicy and well seasoned with a touch of sweetness. The corvina inca was great (but not spicy at all, even with the ají amarillo paste), with a fluffy yuca purée.
Went here for the first time after eating Chaufa de pollo in Orlando, FL. The food is good here, although I honestly like the way its prepared in Florida better.
What’s going on? I have been eating and ordering the Matador combo at this Pio pio at least once a month for the past 3 years. the Food I ordered and took home for dinner tonight did not taste like The Peruvian chicken I would get at Pio Pio, the skin was really salty and the inside meat did not have the spice it normally have, it taste like a regular rotisserie chicken, fries with the sausage taste different too, the sweet plantain was really dry and chalky.... this is nothing like the food I have grow to love at Pio Pio. really disappointed, I am hoping it’s just a one time thing....
Good food.
Beware: they charge $1 for a tiny condiment plastic cup of hot sauce 🤯 What Latin restaurant charge for hot sauce?!?
Last night, we had dinner at SoleLuna.Everything was great.Spaghetti alle vongole....a bomb!!!!Very, very good!!!Nice portion, lots of clams...really tasty...delicious!!!Recommended it with a glass of white wine!!!GrazieThank you
Getting the whole chicken to go with green or garlic sauce is a winner move that you will not regret. Call ahead, and drop in and get out quick with one of the top rotisserie birds in the city.
Amazing place. Awesome flavor. Causa and Ceviche Mixto. Of course Margarita of Passion Fruit. Very Latin place. Awesome.
Good salads and some cooked food is good enough!
Very good food.Chicken is great.A different type of flavor for spanish food. But Peruvian.Hospitailty is good. Can be expensive if you add drinks.
This picture should give you good idea of how the grilled salmon dish, 1/2 Peruvian chicken, and a mixed steamed vegetable dish worked for the two of us 😁
Ever since I moved to NYC Ive been a fan of this place. Their great quality chicken, sauce and sides dishes along with good prices and great atmosphere makes this and the other PioPio restaurants one of my favorites in the city.
What can i say but Damnnnn there food is delicious 😋 😋 yum8
I would give them 3 star because, we stay outside and was so hot, Alejandro, our waitress, did his best to make sure we were comfortable and took care of our needs.
Food was barely warm after a very long wait and tasted like old grease. Staff told me there was no manager to speak to there. Will never come back to this location again
We had a terrific dinner at Pio Pio 6. The red wine sangria was well prepared and strong. The three of us shared a Plato Montañero and Arroz Chaufa with shrimp, it was more than enough.
Service second to none! Sangria amazing! Atmosphere the bomb! Best Salmon dish I ever had and Ive lived everywhere!!!!
Great Peruvian food. Best shared with a group. Get ceviche to start, chicken to share, jalea is great as well. Very tasty, but not so cheap.
Pio Pio is home to delicious Peruvian roasted chicken. I had a hard time finding chicken I liked as much when I was in Peru! Although there are a few around New York, this is my favorite, because the quality of the chicken is always really high. The roasted chicken is a great deal - the least expensive thing on the menu. Get it with a side of plantains (both maduros and tostones are available) and salchipapa (a mix of french fries and hot dogs that manages to be way better than either would be on its own). It can sometimes be a little loud inside, but its always a loud of the lively variety, not the deafening kind.
Definitely order the chicken. Its the reason this place is so popular. That and the green sauce.I would say that this time, my chicken was definitely better than usual. Maybe because i came early. The lomo saltado is just ok so i probably wont order it again.
Very good customer service, very delicious ice cream
Been a while but seems to me that food used to be better. Average service. Casual atmosphere. Not too loud. Not too rowdy
Family oriented, food is delicious, friendly service
I received very good service hereMy food came rather quickly, and everything tasted very goodI ordered the rotisserie chicken with their specialty spicesMaduros (fried sweet plantains), french fries, and avocado salad plus a glass of sangriaBy the way, the sangria was very good and strong (unusually strong) they are generous with the licor😁
Very nice restaurant. Delicious everything. Very busy too, you need wait for get a table and enjoy a delicious Peruvian food.
We enjoyed very fresh and delicious ceviche. As Peruvian we Japanese loves raw seafood, we will be back soon.
We ordered fir pickup, the messed up our order, sides were over cookied, we ordered a whole chicken but got all white meat, and when you call, no one pickes up. Never going back
Ear-shattering background. Dimly lit and cheek-to-jowl table placements. The Peruvian cuisine is top-notch. Food is probably also visually appealing if more light could be shed on it.
Absolutely delicious 😋 and affordable
The food is great and the atmosphere is just right. The staff is also prompt with their service and they are polite.
Great food, great flavors, decent service a little pricey but food was awesome!!
Our favorite Peruvian restaurant, this side of the equator! Bring the whole family and try the matador combo. Sangria and piscos are great.
Good food, friendly service. Id prefer if they didnt bring everything all at once, but other than that, cant complain.
Food amazing, service terrible. Waitress barely even noticed we existed. Then they turned the a.c up to freezing cold.
Love the chicken and green sauce..other than that not much more that competes with it..nice venue overall and pretty good sangria, white preferred!
Best white sangria! Great chicken dish, go for it. Its a great choice. The empanadas are also delicious!
Love their chicken! I have been to peru and their chicken is decent competition. We usually get the matador combo and feast away!
Just about right. Delicious food. Good service. Well be back again.
Sangria! Must be made in heaven. Fantastic food and service. Many places to eat in NYC, this will be a go to at least once, every time I visit.
They have hands down the nastiest ceviche I’ve ever tasted in my life no wonder they don’t advertise any pictures of it this isn’t ceviche this is disgusting
Everything was excellent
The food was delicious. Havent dined there in years. Will definitely go back.
Super bad attention, we were a big group and they treated us badly, they didnt want to split the bill. The rude and uncompromising waiter
Food and drinks were great as well as the service but the ventilation needs some work. It was so hot in there people were trying to keep the doors open.
I went this week and had the Peruvian cerviche. It was delicious and unlike any other I have tried in the past. Portions are generous and service is very good
Food was amazing especially the chaoufa rice with their signature sauce. The sangria was good as well, I just wish it had more fruits. Nonetheless the place was pack and it was hot inside i wish they had a stronger AC system or better working fans which was a distraction and made it difficult to enjoy my delicious meal. Otherwise this place is a must!
This is one of the greatest restaurants in the city, I’ve had 4 dishes here that have changed my life :)Amazing!
Food is great and consistent. The green sauce is addicting, and the sangrias are strong. Best Peruvian food Ive ever had.
Best chicken and fries ever the whole menu is great plus the drinks are the best, and they treat you real nice
A lovely place for a dinner out. We came to celebrate a career anniversary. All staff were friendly and accommodating.
Such delicious authentic food. Amazing service and unforgettable drinks and desert. Must try Ice cream there!
This is the best Peruvian food Ive had, great staff nice ambiance, large portions, definitely returning
Peruvian Chicken. Amazing and cheap! They need to open up a downtown branch. :)Price: ~$10 (lunch)Overall: A-Frequency: OnceLast Visited/Updated: 2007
I didnt get the hype, very cheap tasting food at not so cheap prices
Surprisingly delicious food. The chicken is a standout, and their shrimp is also delicious. Simple food done really right.
The food here is amazing. Shrimp curry and empanadas are our go-to. It can get busy sometimes, but never too bad. They have huge windows so theres lots of light. Its very family-friendly (which does sometimes mean screaming children!).
Pio pio, any questions??Heres a pro-tip for potential eaters - Dont quickly jump for the combos with the fries and hotdogs and avocado - Sometimes its in your best interest to go for mutliple chickens and just one side.
The best rotisserie chicken in the city. The green sauce complements the chicken to perfection. Quick and fast service
The food is good for someone whos looking for a different type of Latin flavor, the quality is nothing to talk about.the Service is poor.
Great service and delicious Peruvian food. 4 of us ate food 100 dollars.
We have eaten here almost once per month for almost ten years. It is a neighborhood staple for a reason! Everything on the menu is good. Not just good, GOOD! We will continue coming here for chicken, plantains, and all manner of Peruvian fare to warm the belly and heart.
I love the food. Recently I have only did take out or delivery. They are open for dine in.
Bad food, Chinese rice with shrimp and chix TERRIBLE, cant bite and black burn spend $100 over for first and never again experience. Your choice of you go there. Sorry. 😎
Awesome food, decent cocktails, and a very cool vibe.
The only thing for me to bring attention to was the prices. But, given the economic climate, these businesses have to evolve and adapt to that.
Probably my favourite chicken spot in the city. Chicken is fresh, juicy, tender and flavourful. Their green sauce is one of the best sauces ever made IMO. Highly recommend.
Service and food is consistently great...
The food is amazing the camarones Cuzco with yellow rice is delicious and the sangria was awesome
Cant really rate this location. I tried calling several times to make a reservation but the phone rings out. I also found the site difficult to navigate when trying to view the menu.
Never fails to impress! Always crowded, and for good reason. Everything put before us was utterly delicious.
