Im really glad I visited OHaras whilst touring the financial district in lower manhatten. The place is adorned with badges from all manner of emergency services ( first responders ) and is a fitting tribute to those that run into danger. They have a book. If they ask you if youd like to see it, then I would say take the opportunity if you have the time.It catalogues the events of 9/11, and whilst its an extraordinarily emotional document they have put together, its also a beacon of hope for the future.Im glad I was given the opportunity.I love the fact that if you set up a tab they give you a proper piece of paper that they put into the lovely old fashioned till and stamp to update your bill each time you ask for more ( see my pictures ).I should also add that I accidentally left a bag behind on the evening I spent there.I returned the next morning, and sure enough, it was there for me to collect. The food was nice and the staff were brilliant.
One of the best bars to visit if you or your loved one is in law enforcement. Bring a badge from your town and staple it up or just admire how many have came before you.The guy at the door was great and helped us find a large space in the back. They also have great reasonably priced tshirts. Must stop if you like cop bars and are near the trade center.Service was quick!
Lovely place. You feel so welcome and it’s like beeing your own livingroom. Best pubs I’ve ever been. All 9/11 memorial stuff are just so great and heartbreaking ❤️🔥
Bigger than it looks from the outside. The place is split across 1.5 floors with a bar section in the back.Got the Staten Island burger which seemed interesting. Came with Swiss and onions. However the raw onions were thick, too thick, had to take most of them out. Soldi burger otherwise.Pretty lively in the evening.I appreciate that they gave badges from first responders around the world. Not sure if that was always a thing or started after 9/11, either way it’s a very unique thing that literally covers the entire bar / restaurant. Would be very fun to look around and explore all the badges.
The place gets busy for lunch service but they’re pretty good about getting you a seat quickly. Nice interior adorned with emergency service badges and flags from all over the country. Friendly service. Crafts beers, beers on tap. Usual pub food with some specials—Shepard’s pie, Irish stew. Surprisingly good burgers. Simple garnishes of tomato and lettuce and usual sesame bun but despite the simplicity, the beef patty really shines. Overall, good place to stop for pub food.
This pub provided some good food, a pint of Guinness and a welcoming atmosphere to complement our day touring the sites of New York.
Good food, quick and friendly service, and great atmosphere. Very close to the 9/11 memorial. Would definitely go back.
I think this place has been visited by every emergency service in the USA and beyond, the walls and ceilings are decorated with patches and flags, a truly amazing place.Great selection of food and service was as you would expect...... Fast and with a smile.Definitely worth a shot.
We went here earlier today I would say that was the worst service Ive had in this city. My Gf and and I went in for a quick bite but that quickly changed after we asked what was on tap and the guy at the bar wouldnt help or just give a menu then once we got a drink and finally got a food menu we picked and when we left the menus down the man quickly grabbed the menus and walked off without asking if we chose something, not even a glance over so that was it for that. Even just watching his attitude very unprofessional, the other staff was nice, though 👍cool bar just small improvements
Very nice bartenders, the atmosphere is top! This place will give you goosebumps - 100%!
Great drinks and good food, near the 9/11 memorial. Highly recommend coming here. Personally my favorite bar in the city, I always come here when I’m in need of a drink. Highly recommended!
Great restaurant, right by the Ground Zero memorial. Not too busy, and great food! The walls and ceiling are covered with patches from police and firefighters!
Very unique place with lots of history. This pub is right by the 911 memorial, and during 911 its building was damaged to the point where they had to close for several months. Today, their walls are decorated with patches of fire departments from all over the world, in recognition of the firefighters who fought and sacrificed to save lives in the aftermath of 911.The food itself is typical bar fare and I thought it was fine, but nothing special. I would definitely recommend dropping by here to see all the firefighter patches and take in the history though.
Low key and comfortable atmosphere. Good food. This bar has served countless first responders and is located just across from where the twin towers stood. There is commemoration of 9/11 all over the bar. There was just a deep sense of reverence and camaraderie. Thankful I got to spend time at this bar.
The food was clearly not the highlight here, the Burger was pretty plain and nothing special at all. All the ordered food tasted pretty plain and not much seasoned. If you like your burger like this, its a match, for me it was not. The service was friendly and kind. One highlight is clearly the decorations inside the pub. There are patches of all kinds of different Rescue/Police forces from all around the world pinned to the walls.I would not come to eat again here, just because the food did not match my expectations and for that the prize was pretty high.
Great Irish pub.Was full when we got there but we were seated quick enough. We got wings, salad and toasties with fries. Everything was great, the service was very nice and efficient etc.The cheese on the ham cheese toasty would never be served in an Irish pub, but it brought me back to my childhood, so was authentic in its own way, haha. I didn’t dare try a Guinness, but the other beer was good.
Service is spectacular, very fast, food is tasty and they serve it the way you want it.
Wow!! What a great experience! The staff was the best I’ve ever experienced no matter the price of the meal. Nachos were amazing. It was the staff and the atmosphere that made this place amazing. They cared for us as soon as we entered the restaurant!!
First time visiting New York. We found this little pub and instantly fell in love with it. They have awesome food and their staff is friendly and welcoming. The most amazing part is they have patches on their walls of men and women that are in the fire department or police department. Also those that have passed on. Highly recommend this place! Will make another stop before we leave to go back home.
This establishment was amazing to experience! The memorial to all of our brave men and women around the country! If you have a chance, please take the time to look through the Bible. It was super emotional, but very worth the look! Service was fantastic, despite being packed full of patrons, both local and not! 10/10 guys!
A great place with a peculiar atmosphere and a colorful interior. Great drinks and good bartenders. The only downside, personally to me, its very noisy when there are a lot of people, and you have to talk loudly. I advise you to visit.
Started out with the beef nachos. My husband didnt like them. The beef is a ruff dry steak like meat. Not ground beef like I thought. In the beginning our waiter was great then once we got our food we never saw him again. I had to flag someone down to get our bill so we could leave. The ambiance is very cool. There are firehouses and police badges everywhere. They have Coke products. Nice seasonal beer selection. Oh and I got a bottle of Michelob Ultra and it was iced cold. It was delicious. Very close to the 9-11 memorial. I even found my hometown badges.
We were looking for a place to eat while walking around NYC. Searched based on reviews and went to OHaras. We walked in and they were absolutely packed but we were politely greeted at the door and had a table in less than 5 minutes. The service was immediately but they were so busy they had a difficult time keeping up with our drinks, no fault to the amazing place. We had the Irish nachos for an appetizer which were probably the best thing we ate! We also ordered a sausage and peppers sandwich, BLT, chicken blt and a club sandwich. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better.
The first time I’ve ever tried a Philly streak and cheese and I was not disappointed. It’s possibly one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten, so O’Haras have set the bar high.Bizarrely, the fries were terrible, but the PS&C roll gives this place a 5 star and I’ll forget the rubbish fries. The Samuel Smith IPA was also brilliant as was the cider. The restaurant has so much character and our server Isa was brilliant.
This is a gem of a bar. Almost next door to the 7/11 site / memorial, it’s decorated in badges from services (police, firemen etc) from around the world. It’s amazing to see. Take the time to walk around if you can. At night all the TV’s have baseball in. This is like the quintessential American bar - brilliant. They serve a very good draft Guinness (it’s an Irish bar) and the onion rings were good. I will come here again. It’s an authentic great bar
Fantastic good food close to 9/11 memorial
This was a highly rated place not sure why. Everything we ate was bad. We ordered a steak and a couple of sandwiches. I asked for a medium rare steak and got a steak that was fully done for the most part except the thickest part. The Sandwiches were all too dry. Wouldnt recommend.
Lots of badges from different emergency services. Special grilled chicken strips were delicious.
What an absolutely amazing place! Our beef nachos were fresh, hot and delicious and the service was top notch! My wife ordered a glass of wine and the bartender polished her glass before pouring it!! You don’t see that at a lot anymore!!Best part was they serve Yeungling on tap!! Fresh and cold!!5 stars!!________________🌏Weight Loss Motivation Blogger.⭐Dr. Stunned At Patient’s Dramatic Weight Loss With ThisInstagram👉 @slims_pro
The food is pretty good and the wait staff does everything they can, but this place is always wall to wall whenever I’ve been there. If that’s your scene, go for it, but don’t think it will be a low key kind of place.
Ive been coming here for the past two years with my family and man its packed every time we visit. Its an Irish pub with some good food. Come in here for a drink and youll also get a good dose of the history of NYC. They also feature pictures of the pub right after 9/11 and its devastating. I recommend the Shepards pie or a burger.
Absolutely loved this pub! Walking into the pub and seeing all the patches up on the walls, the story behind them and what it all represents makes me proud to be a firefighter. The staff was incredibly kind and answered any questions that were asked about the place, menu, or even about 9/11. It pays homage to all the brave men and women that lost their lives at the World Trade Center down the street. The food was delicious and the drinks went down better than any other place I went to.
While visiting the 9/11 Memorial, with my fiancé on vacation, I happened upon OHaras Pub. Looking for a restroom stop, decided to pop in, have a beer and use the facilities. Little did we know we were walking into history. What an amazing place!!! Our bartender Rebecca was also amazing! We asked her about all the patches on the walls and ceiling. She proceded give us the back story of the bar during 9/11. She showed us the album of pictures, clippings and letters. At this point it was hard not to get a bit emotional. We saw a lot of incredible places on our trip, but the most memorable stop was a place we had never heard before. Thank you OHaras!!! And thank you to all of the firemen, policemen, first responders and national guard for everything youve done and continue to do everyday!
This place is nearby to WTC, 911 memorial and other places of visit. The ambience inside was great and the staff were helpful. visited this place after a full day of sightseeing and was helped by the staff in choosing my drink option. Had Captain Lawrence and Guinness together with Sliders and onion rings. Sliders were done well and tasted awesome, coupled with great music. By the end of it, came out satisfied. Would love to be back.
In NYC for Christmas and went to 9/11 memorial. Had to stop by O’Hara’s for a Guinness and quick bite and couldn’t have done any better! Sean, the bartender was the man! Great food, great beer, great atmosphere!!!
Ohara’s is a cozy and uncomplicated place, a classic Irish pub with a welcoming atmosphere. What makes it unique are the patches from various emergency services, which add a special touch and fit perfectly with the history of the area around the World Trade Center. The service was excellent, and the food overall was very good. Unfortunately, my steak was overcooked instead of medium, which was a bit disappointing. However, I have to compliment the staff for how they handled the situation. The rest of the dishes were fantastic, and I would definitely recommend this spot.
Food was pretty basic, well prepared, but not a ton of options. I do recommend it, but dont expect to be wowed. Reasonably priced. Atmosphere, though, is spot on...love the First Responder flair.
We ordered food to go, sat at the bar while we had a short wait. Great food and excellent staff. Loved the atmosphere, a lot of badges from people in the service from all over the US.
This is such a cool place to have lunch!! Staff is so friendly. Theyre right across the street from the 911 Memorial. Its a place where a lot of the firemen have lunch. I had friends visiting from CA whos a fireman and fights the forest fires in CA. They were so welcoming and shared stories. They let him put a t shirt on the ceiling. (Theres no more room on the walls). A lot of fireman trade patches and t shirts there. Theyre posted on all the walls. Fireman have come from all over the world. The food was delicious! One of the best burgers Ive had in a long time. Theyre hand pressed not frozen patties. The wait staff was very helpful with the menu and any questions we had. Prices are reasonable. It does get busy. Definitely a great place to have lunch and you dont have to be a fire fighter. I will be back the next time Im in that area.
Steak overcooked and rubber-like, hamburger mediocre, while draft beer was tasty
If youre a first responder this place is a must! If your a tourist, this place is a must! As a firefighter, I was told I had to visit this bar. My wife and I took the kids on our first trip to NYC. Little did I know our hotel was across the street from OHaras. Located about a block from the memorial and FDNY 10 House, this is a must to anyone visiting lower Manhattan. The kids were hungry when we got in, so we decided this to be our first official stop. OHaras had a history since 9/11 of letting police, fire and military bring their patches etc. To hang. My son took my department patch and set off. OHaras reminds me of the bar from Cheers. Everyone , and I mean everyone was awesome. From the patrons to staff they made us feel welcome and part of the family. One of the owners saw that my son had my patch. He asked if he wanted to hang it in the bar. My son was thrilled and got to pick any spot he wanted. After hanging the patch, the one brother Kevin, (I believe) sat and talked with us. After dinner they envited us back for a drink. The kids went to the hotel and we set out. This time from local tourist spot it changed into more of the local neighborhood spot. OHaras became a daily and nightly stop the entire duration of the trip. Kids loved their burgers and mozzarella sticks. All of the food was great! Our son, actually had a burger every night prior to retiring to the hotel, despite eating earlier in the evening. This establishment made us feel like family not a guest. Thank you, to everyone at OHaras! Well see you for the 25th but hopefully sooner!
Its an Irish sports bar and lives up to all that means. Great experience 👍Great collection of badges too.
Nice decor with the huge collection of police and fire department shoulder patches, food is served bland and very hot, but that’s the good part of this review. Now for the bad: the drinks here SUCK. I ordered a Maker’s Mark Old Fashioned which was served to me in a double shot glass, orange, cherry were not muddled. My girlfriend ordered a top shelf margarita and was pleased with the first one served to her. At the end of dinner, she asked for another top shelf margarita and it came out bitter. We then noticed that there was a new female bartender working behind the bar, whereas before it was a male. Drink inconsistencies suck. But, the server never asked me if I would like another drink, let alone followed up to see if we liked our drinks or not... I asked for a check, was charged $31 for sub par drinks, no effort to see if they could make another to my satisfaction, or deduct it from the bill. Customer service SUCKS here.
Great dive kind of bar with great music and atmosphere.
Cool restaurant with Police badges etc all over the wall and great link to 9/11 and ground zero! Nice food too!
I love the food. The service was great the drinks were really good and it was right next to the 911 memorial. It was an amazing experience. It shows you my husband loved it 😆
We didn’t eat but we always stop here after paying tribute at the 9/11 memorial. The service is always great and the atmosphere is irreplaceable. Thanks for supporting the people that work hard to protect us each day. As always had to get a T- -Shirt
There was a song…..”I Love This Bar”…. We loved this bar!!! A great way to end our visit to the memorial. A true 1st Responders bar. Had to have 25,000 patches!!! It was crowded but we had fast service, cold Guinness, a seat at the bar, and great conversation!
2024/06/02 - Back. Service was great, beers selection nice, but the rueben was lackluster. Chewy meat and untasteful sauerkraut. Love the onion rings!2017 - Excellent location, but with that comes LARGE crowds. Food was good.
This pub is a must-visit place in NYC’s Financial District as it has great vibes and friendly staff, specially at the bar. It’s spacious with so many booths, tables, high chairs and bar seats. Many comfort food options and of course good selection of beer on tap.It also has a lot of history to it; they have even created a story book for 9/11 tragedy and all the firefighters who came to help and how this pub was damaged and the story of repairing and bringing it back to life.
A really great Irish American bar, very chilled atmosphere and great staff. If you just want go chill out with friends, watch a game on tv this is a great place to go. The interior is amazing and covered in vast amounts of official police and fire crew badges and memorabilia.
This is a great pub, they have good food and the service was great!! If you are in service you could bring your brigades patch for the walls!!If youre near 9-11 Ground Zero is a great place to go
Just one block away from our hotel, and across Ground Zero we found Oharas by accident. As soon as we walked in we were surprisingly welcomed. Loved the patches on the wall, and the great atmosphere. We looked at the 9/11 scrapbook. The food was good, and the beer was very good. We stayed in NYC for one week, and kept going to Oharas every day, for the rest of our stay. Awesome place. I will definitely go back next time Im in NYC.
We are from Ireland and can vouch that they serve a perfect Guinnness (and baby Guinness). We also got to see the famous book. Highly recommended if you just visited the 9/11 memorial, as this place witnessed it.
So great. Came from out of town and felt so welcomed the whole time. Great service and such a cozy and fun atmosphere.
Great place to go with friends, have a beer and eat good food. I tried the Bronx Burger and it was VERY good!!
What’s the difference between an Irish pub and an American bar ? O’Haras pub may help you understand . A bar is a place where you go to get a drink and perhaps say hello to someone but an Irish pub like O’Hara s is a place to talk to people while you perhaps have a drink . 🇺🇸
Pretty awesome experience. Great food with old pictures of 9/11. Great service as well.
Awesome pub located just 5 mins from WTC, great atmosphere and decorated with fire patches from different fire departments around the World. Would really recommend visiting.
We didnt have any food. The book is a must see.
Awesome place. Went there after the 9/11 memorial. Got to see the pictures they had from the events of 9/11. Neat to see all the patches on the walls from the different first responders across the world. Food and service were great!
Jimmy was the best! Food came out timely and was DELICIOUS. They also have a great drink selection!
Spent the summer in New York and went to OHaras most nights after work, couldnt recommend this spot enough to anyone. Best staff I encountered by far, all the workers greeted us at the door when we walked in and treated us like their friends. Drink prices are very reasonable and the food is quite nice while enjoying a few beers. Tony was our bartender for most of it and we got to know him very well. Ill definitely be coming back again in the future.
This is a really nice Irish bar thats a good place to go if youre in this area and want to hang out with friends. The food is excellent. We tried three different burgers and loved them all. We also really liked our beers. The staff were nice and friendly and we didnt have to wait too long to get our stuff.I wish there was live music, but there was none when I came. Instead they had loud music and screens showing a basketball match which wasnt exactly what came to mind when I thought about Irish pub.
We went here after visiting the 9/11 Memorial and it was the perfect counter point. Every wall and much of the ceiling is covered in first responders patches. The food is classic pub fare, the service is great a bit sassy and very fun. Another example of resilience.
Amazing food and ambience! Colorful with FD and PD patches from round the country! Had a great time!
Have been here many times and it’s always the best experience. Very friendly staff, always checking on you, and great conversations especially with Mike. The food is hot and fresh and a generous selection of beer on tap. The greatest part about this place is it’s heritage and history, you have to be there and hear the story, and ask for the photo album. Incredible place, best of the best!
Wow what a bar. We loved every minute being in here, the staff are really friendly the food was fab and the atmosphere amazing. If you get a chance ask to see one of their 9/11 books - as theyre right round the corner from WTC, they have their own tributes and it explains why there are so many police / fire etc badges in there. Will deff be back!
Great place, great service ! Didnt try the food but it was very busy ! Worth a visit if your in the area! A great pint of the black stuff
This pub has a great atmosphere and decent drink/food prices. It might be packed when you get there but be patient, its worth the wait.
Great pub to stop at. Love that they support police, Fire, and Military. Food was very good. Loved the burgers.
Great place, good vibes, great service
Wonderful place which celebrates the first responders, we can admire all the patches on the wall. Amazing food and service.
Loved the bartender! Young dude with long dark hair. You are amazing! Had great recommendations for good slices,! Loved the atmosphere and the proximity to Ground zero Memorial. Great place to check out!
Steak was mid, very dry :(! I really love the wall with the badges, its such a good respectful way to honour those who provided in that bad time! I love new york!! As my friend Dixie Donner said New york city. There are just sky-scrapers Everywhere!! I love It!!
Decent burger 🍔 but not the greatest. The atmosphere is great and I loved watching the photos of their place from 9/11
As a police officers daughter, paramedic wife, and Registered Nurse I felt right at home here. And the food was AMAZING!! Best Shepherds Pie I have EVER had!
I come to NY frequently, and I alway make it my business to come to O’Haras! Great stuff, great food and beer! We’ll worth a visit!
OHaras Restaurant and Pub is hands down my favorite spot in New York City, and its become my go-to place for almost every weekend outing. Located in the heart of the Financial District, this gem is more than just a restaurant or a pub – its a place brimming with history, warmth, and some of the best drinks youll ever have. The moment you step inside, youre greeted by an incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They always make you feel like part of the family. The owner is often around, mingling with guests and making sure everyone is having a great time. His friendliness and genuine interest in his patrons are a huge part of what makes this place special. Now, lets talk about the drinks. They offer a fantastic selection of beers, cocktails, and spirits that cater to every taste. The bartenders here really know their craft. Whether youre in the mood for a classic Guinness or something more adventurous, they’ve got you covered. Ive tried many places in the city, but the drinks here are simply on another level – consistently top-notch and expertly made.Beyond the drinks and the welcoming atmosphere, this place holds a significant spot in the community’s heart due to its deep connection with 9/11. The walls are adorned with badges and memorabilia from first responders, making it a poignant and respectful tribute to the heroes of that day. It’s impossible not to feel a sense of reverence and respect as you sit among these tokens of bravery and sacrifice. One of the best kept secrets here is the Album. If you ask the staff about it, theyll bring out a book filled with photos, letters, and memories from people who have visited over the years. It’s a touching collection that adds a personal and historical depth to your visit, reminding you of the community spirit that thrives in this place. It is more than just a pub for me – its a place where memories are made and shared. Ive taken all my friends here, and every single one of them has fallen in love with it just like I did. The combination of great service, outstanding drinks, and rich history creates an experience that is hard to beat.If you’re ever in New York City, do yourself a favor and stop by. Enjoy a drink, soak in the atmosphere, and be sure to ask about the Album. You won’t regret it.
O Hara’s Restaurant and pub in New York have to say had a wonderful experience with my family and myself the rest are overall and bor is kind of small but something that you would expect to see in the city and it seems to be always very busy with that said they offered a variety of amazing drinks one of my favorites was a cider that they get directly from Ireland.. what I found really cool about the bar and restaurant itself is the Decour was basically decorated in patches from first responders and police fire EMS from all over the world so if you do decide to come visit the pub definitely bring your patch from your department patch if your police fire EMS etc from anywhere in the world I’m sure they’ll find a spot somewhere on the wall to put that patch. Next I was amazed how small the kitchen is but How they are able to put out the dishes as fast as they can and for what we did order I would say the food is above average bar food I did really enjoy the Ruben and their onion rings.. overall experience very well I would definitely recommend trying The bar/restaurant for yourself it’s.. it’s not far from the 911 Memorial and the path train so pretty easy to get to.. if you find my review helpful and you do like what I have to say please don’t be afraid to leave like
It was fabulous. The staff were so nice. It was always busy which for me is a good sign. We were in the one in Manhatten.
My food was ok. I got the grilled cheese and bacon with sweet potato fries. The cheese was barely melted and the bread was too hard with no type of butter taste. The place was packed though and the bartenders were very busy. Ive had better food on other visits.
We stopped in after visiting the 9/11 memorial as we were both thirsty and wanted a chair and some AC. We didn’t realize the story of O’Hara’s but loved seeing all of the first responder patches through the entire space. It brought back a lot of memories of 9/11 while looking through the scrap book that they have made. The staff service was excellent and answered random questions we had. Definitely worth a visit.
This place is lively with plenty to look at while you wait for your food. The service was just okay, as was the food. During a seven day visit to Manhattan, this was a restaurant we wish we hadnt gone to. It would be a fun place to just drink, I suppose.
My favorite pub in NYC. Great happy hour vibe, the Bronx Burger is delicious, and the stories are special. Must-stop every time I visit New York.
NYC BEST BAR!!! hands down the friendliest, and most welcoming bar Ive been to. The staff treats you like family, and Paul makes you feel at home, and ask for Jimmy. A must visit when in NYC. The Food is also AMAZING!!!
A must experience unique bar and restaurant! The FDNY and PDNY presence makes the vibe. A must stop when you’re at the 9/11 memorial.
Good burgers at good price. Special place with an amazing environment and a nice staff
My husband and I enjoyed our late lunch here, after visiting the 9/11 memorial. My husband told Mike, one of the owners, that he was very impressed with the food and the fact that they didnt price gouge their patrons, as so many other establishments have done. The chicken Caesar wrap was the BEST I have ever had in my life.
A beer and shots kinda place with some good pub grub as well. The walls are plastered with service patches from mainly fireys and the police force. The bar tenders are legends, especially Uncle Dave. The pub played a big role in 9/11, ask to see the photo album.
The burger I got was $17 and it is truly a CRIME that it cost that much, even by New York in 2024 standards. My expectations are not even that high and I was still appalled. Same with the wings (no pic) but they looked like they came out of a bag of Tyson chicken strips...and you only got like 6... I mean it tasted fine for a roadside diner where the food was less than $7 a plate but $17 for this actually hurts my soul. Truly a price gouged tourist trap. Dont go. We need to stop allowing businesses to pull this. (The patches all over the walls were cool, and I understand its a historic place and thats great they were able to rebuild, but at what cost?!?)
Stopped in here for lunch on 10-1-2021. The staff was very friendly, I like the way the place is decorated with first responder patches. The quality of the food was very good and everything came out hot and fresh. Nice selection of beers, I would definitely return.
We visited for drinks and dinner after the 911 museum tour. Moira was our server and did a great job, Trevor was also great and very hospitable! Thought he was the owner at first based on how far out of his way he went to ensure everybody was happy. The mozzarella sticks and fried zucchini were delicious so even if youre just going to drinks I highly recommend trying them. Place is enamored with first responder badges and fascinating stories and history.
What can you say about this place? Hallowed ground neighborhood joint that first responders and true NY crowds come hang out for a beer, watch the game, connect and take a load off after a busy day. It has magic and mystique - great sense of local culture.
What more can I say, 5 out of 5 for everything! The best burgers weve ever had! Great friendly atmosphere. The staff are really attentive and spent time to answer our questions about the badges on the walls as well as letting us look through their 9/11 photo book - thank you for giving us a great experience in New York, we are highly recommending you to everyone weve been seeing. We will be back!
This place is a an incredible pub, awesome food and the staff are top notch. We stayed for about 5 hours one night. Ask to see the book. To see what these guys have gone through since 9/11 and the decorations around the whole place is an incredible thing with deep meaning. I cannot recommend this place highly enough ❤
Friendly, busy, great drinks. What a great hat tip to first responders. Show your respect, enjoy a cocktail here!
Great people, environment, and a true tribute to heros who have given so much to protect us.
Awful, just awful. In from out of town and checked in late at a nearby hotel after a 5hr flight. I was looking for somewhere to unwind and get some food before bed. Decided to try here. For starters the server was not attentive at all. At first my food came out incorrectly and salad missing. I tried a french fry and actually spat it out as it tasted old and was flat out cold, not a degree above room temp. My salad came but no cutlery. I had to find someone and ask them for cutlery so I could actually eat my food. Finally when this was done I began on the sandwich. Horrendous (and I dont use that word lightly). The bun was hardened and crusty (ie old), pickles missing, and that mustve been the end of the sauce because there was so little on there you couldnt taste it. I waited for the server to return to explain my disappointment....and waited.....and waited. Giving up, tired and hungry, I literally scraped the chicken and tomato out of this mess, ate that, and left everything else on my plate bun and fries incl. Like an idiot lost out at sea, Im peering around the restaurant corner to corner looking to flag down my waitress to clear my plate. When she finally came I took the time to explain everything that was wrong with my experience so far. She didnt really have much to say but worse off not even an apology for my dissatisfaction. She was quite standoffish. Feeling defeated I just asked for my bill so I could go. It comes, with everything on there, full price. At this point feeling completely uncared for I decided to speak up and I gently explained to her that I find it a bit surprising that after I politely but clearly explained how bad I thought the food was I was still expected to just accept it and pay full price too. Her response well you never told me there was a problem with your food until now! So the question begs, how on earth is a customer supposed to express any concerns for their meal if their waitress NEVER COMES TO THE TABLE after getting their food! To be clear she never came once, I had to flag her down to clear everything. But flabbergasted at her response I just laughed as I suddenly realized it was like dealing with a child so I just elected to pay my cheque and go to bed, hungry I might add, without any more unnecessary conversation. On the way back to my hotel I called the restaurant and spoke with a manager. I just felt compelled that someone who had perhaps a vested interest in their business would be interested in knowing just how awful I thought there place was. To his credit, he said all the right things and apologized and invited me back to make things right. Sometimes things happen or just go wrong and thats acceptable, but its how its handled that makes all the difference and in my case, Im pretty sure I wont go back even though I am frequently put up in that neighborhood. This is New York City the choices are endless.
Great place cold beer and the French onion soup super good. Ask to see the 9/11 book. They have photos from that terrible day. One of the only buildings that didnt get destroyed so the police and firefighters used it as a command center and now they have patches from all different departments. Awsome place
Amazing experience with family, great customer service very tasty food. We had a great time to be here
Super nice discovery and a must visit if you are around WTC, plus they have the best buffalo chicken wings in town
In the heart of 911 Monument, the camaraderie of 1st responders is shown all over the walls. Irish Pub with a jolly staff, bar food so come for the drinks.
Place is nice and cozy, but service was awful in my experience. My partner and I entered the place & nobody greeted us.We looked for a table and everything was reserved, but we eventually found some seats in the far end of the restaurant. We asked what the process of ordering was & a guy told us to just sit in the corner where the bartender was so we did & waited until the bartender asked us if we were ready to which we responded yes. Almost 10 min passed by after that & the bartender was giggling with other costumers & completely ignored us.We had to walk out after that.
This pub is fantastic with a friendly and warm atmosphere. The place has a lot of history since post 9 -11.The Bar tender Rob was very nice to my wife and I although I didnt think it was appropriate from his boss to have an issue with him in front of customers, A little diplomacy was needed.Would recommend this place every time.
The food was great and everything was very fresh. Service was nice, but a little slow. Overall I would definitely try this place again if back in the area!
Nice lively pub with good service. Police, emt and fire & rescue companies badges all over the place. They also serve food. My rueben was OK and husband had blackened pork chop.
Typical dive bar. The food is very simple, mainly fried foods. The place is covered in first responders patches from all over the US (and even spotted some international ones) which is pretty cool and unique. The place was fairly crowded. We planned to stop by for just a few drinks, though there were no open spots at the bar and the host wouldn’t let us sit at a table unless we ordered food. He gave us kind of a hard time about it, he was very short and curt. But we wanted to stay so we took a table and just ordered some basic appetizers. Pretty standard beer selection, nothing particularly exciting if you like more craft style beers.
If you are a first responder, fire, law enforcement, or military youll feel right at home here. Classic Irish-American bar with a decent kitchen and friendly staff. Owner Mike has kept it going throughout good and bad times. This is where we ended up after 9/11 fife and drum parade with military (see photo).
First Responders must go here! See service patches from all over the world. This is a hole in the wall with decent food and quick service.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Lots of tourists and very crowded ...a great place to day drink before the after-work crowd converges!
Nice Place to be 🙌🏼🍻
We discover this place thanks to a friend, and I can tell you that OHaras is an awesome place, the food and beverages are excellent but the attention of all the staff is much better, you must visit this Pub.
Phenomenal food, service, and atmosphere. If I ever come back from my home Mississippi this will be on my list to eat at.
Great atmosphere. Great food
Irish food on menus not available since Covid. Nice enough. Kinda a sticky table bar sort of, but expected that. Got Sheppard’s pie it was very good. But other items I would’ve preferred. Pls bring them back or take off menu. 20 min walk to be disappointed about online menu. The rest of menu is American bar food.
Stayed at a hotel next to the bar and figured I’d drop in just to grab a drink. Wound up staying a few hours that night and the next 2 nights that I was in town. This pub was there during 9/11 and has persevered. Great prices, the staff was friendly, quick, and great personalities. If you get a chance, ask to see their binder of first hand photos from 9/11 and speak to the owner if he’s around. Honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. And if you are into sports, they have plenty of TVs to catch the games on.
If you are in the area visiting the 911 site and museum, this is a must stop location. This location stayed open during the crisis and aftermath - caring for a feeding the first responders. Food and drink selection is great but the atmosphere in the bar is why you go.
Was awesome to see all the past visitors badges and patches on the walls. Saw a few from back home, that was nice to see after being away for a while. Definitely will be back next time.
Loved this pub on our recent trip. The friendliest guy sat us, joked around with us, and took our drink order. As we sat waiting for our drinks I googled the bar and realized he was the owner. As a small business owner I loved that he was in the thick of it with his team doing something as simple as greeting and seating his guests. You’ve got a special spot here! We had a great time.
If you’re wanting good food, do not come to this location. Shepherds pie was the worst I’ve ever had. Hamburger bun was hard as a rock that my daughter had and was horrible. Caesar salad was made with Italian dressing not Caesar. $73 later it was upsetting and now my stomach hurts.
This old pub near the 9/11 museum was a neat destination and a neat sports pub. There are a lot of stickers and police badges lining every section of every wall. I was here with some friends for a pub crawl. Solid vibes.
Food was great. Staff was really on top of things and very friendly. Super busy night, didnt get a seat but didnt even mind. Music was great, drinks were strong. Second time there and cant wait to go back.
Brilliant, down to Earth, warm and friendly pub. Staff treated us like regulars. Food is solid and beer menu is extensive. Easily one of the best spots in the Financial District.
Top Pub
Mandatory stop for food and beer if youre visiting the 911 memorial. Recommend checking out the photo album that Mike the owner has which records the events of 911.
Rightly has the reputation as the Fire-fighters pub. Near to the 9/11 memorial and the closet fire-House to the disaster. If your in an emergency service, bring a patch or badge and add to the collectionDrink and food great
This place was wonderful! It is right across the road (diagonally) from the 9/11 memorial. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere was friendly. The inside is covered in patches from first responders all over the United States and beyond. The area is small but it is definitely worth a trip. For just a drink or a meal!
Dropped in to catch the Knicks game. Great bar covered head to toe in badges of police, fire, service jobs etc. Real nice staff and great prices for NYC too. Food served late. Worth a visit if your down that end of the island.
Storm outside pushed us in out of the rain storm, great Irish pub with much personality and pride in firefighters and police, badges from all over the world stapled to the walls and ceiling, even found my citys badge
If your near the World Trade Center Memorial, then you need to make this a stop. What a wonderful atmosphere. It was so neat to look at all of the patches. We went in soon as they opened and got a table, no problem. The service was wonderful, as well as the staff, and the food was great. The chicken BLT was great. If you are from the south like me, dont expect a Dr. Pepper. New York does not serve Dr. Pepper. We would definitely go here again.
Awesome atmosphere. Great food.
Paul & Benny are amazing and hospitable! Such a welcoming atmosphere and so much fun here. We will be back!
Super expérience dans ce pub New yorkais !Burger excellent ! Diffusion des match locaux de basket. Service top top top top !Thanks for all ! Very good moment with you.Very good guiness !Great for our last night at NYC
This was my first time at OHaras and I really enjoyed it. The wait staff was great and friendly! The food was good and the drinks were excellent! What really stood out was how they paid homage to the brother/sisters in blue as well as the first responders on the walls throughout the entire place!❤
Love the atmosphere and the service. Inside with all the visitors and thier patches and stickers are great
A classic-kind bustling bar with historic ambience, dim light, low ceiling, and best-tasting beers from tap.
This restaurant is where the responders; police, firefighters, military, etc. I apologize in advance for any responders left out. The atmosphere busy with all stopping by for food and beverages.
Have to not give this Irish pub a 5 star review but stars dont do it justice.Completely full when we walked in on a Friday night (tonight). We explained to the staff member we were visiting from Ireland and would love to have food/few beers in such an iconic location. He got us sorted ASAP, took care of us all night and we loved the atmosphere (family of 6).Top class, lads whatever your doing, keep doing it.Thank you,Maguires from 🇮🇪
Pre and post 9/11 bar just steps from the World Trade Center. All of the walls are covered with shoulder patches from police, fire, and EMTs from all over America. Really great place and a great connection to the WTC tragedy. Go, and have a couple of beers and remember.
Just happened to stumble across this bar and as we needed a quick drink we went in. The place was packed and the atmosphere was great. Such a lovely bar and it was amazing to see how many people from all over the world had been here. lots of badges stapled to the walls from service people who had visited the bar. Well worth a visit if you are near by
The place is super cool, beautiful, very different! Service was great, nothing to complain about! The beer could have been colder. We ordered a chicken burger, which was very tasty, but the french fries didnt come with it, so we ordered it on the side. Why are the fries not included? Overall it was a great experience.
Friendly staff, great drinks and food. Cool atmosphere
Very solid pub food with a very cool experience. Ive never experienced a pub that was so deeply engrained in fire fighter culture, but its not that surprising when you understand its location and history. If you need a burger and a beer then its worth a visit. Bring your local fire fighter patches for the walls (entire place is covered head to toe).
Great pub! Couldve spent all day there. If available, ask to read their 9/11 book.
Historic OHaras. This is where 1st responders from all over the world found respite in the months following 9/11.The windows were blown our when the towers fell, but 7 months later they were back open, and welcoming those risking their lives to help.Patches and badges from 1st responders decorate the walls. It reminds you that there can be unity in this world. That people will come together for good.Great Irish fare, drinks, and good old American bar food.
Super bar, absolute friendly bar tender.Just walked in to have a beer and enjoyed a lot. Friendly atmosphere. Fast service. And the biggest surprise came with the check - totally fair prices. Well done. Will come back any time possible
Truly an outstanding place. More bar than restaurant but the food was very high quality. Good grilled chicken. The fried foods were tasty. Service was well above average. Very friendly manager. Absolutely outstanding.
Great food and energy is this unique restaurant. Simple meals efficiently cooked and served. Lots of both visitors and New York residents as patrons. Lots of fun and conversation.
Great for drinking, cool space with history. The burgers were not great quality felt like fast food.
Had a great time at OHaras,Kevin the bartender made us feel right at home, great service and drinks, definitely would recommend 😎
Enjoyed my time in this bar, really well decorated full of history. Very lively, enjoyable bar. Onlyissue is it is very difficult to get a seat although we managed to get one.
What a find! We were early to the 9/11 Memorial Museum so popped into OHaras for a pint. The vibe was nostalgic and authentic; featuring First Responders Maltese Cross & Star of Life badges/stickers/emblems from around the world covering every surface of the pub. Kiddie corner to Ground Zero, this building surprisingly survived the attack of 2001. The sense of hope and comradery during that dark time is palpable in a place that showcases how people came together in support after the events. Ask to flip through the scrapbook that is kept behind the bar to get a sense of if these walls could talk. Very happy to have stumbled upon this place. We drank cold pints and split yam fries (good), so cant really report much on the food.
A pretty good hole in the wall type/neighborhood type pub in the Financial District, which for some, is quite the oxymoron. It was busy during my trips there, understandable because it kept late hours for that side of town. I had buffalo wings, which were pretty solid. Guinness was cheap on tap. The bartenders were pleasant. A real gem and its now on my list. Recommended.
Nice place for a happy hour.Benny its the best server. In our first visit, he showed us all the history behind the place and the 9/11.Its really worth the visit.
Great service and atmosphere. Also very unique and humbling decor with all the patches on the walls and ceilings.
One of the neatest bars in NYC paying tribute to all first responders. A must stop.
Bartenders and servers are great. Great atmosphere. You can show up in a suit or a hardhat and share a pint with great company. One of my top 3 bars in NYC!
Everything was excellent ! The atmosphere is just awesome. Served very quickly. Food is good. Irish pub just next to the 9/11 memorial. We went there 3 times. Too bad we have to leave NYC because we really enjoyed this pub !
This is the best place ever! I went in and asked if there was seating available for 5 and my mom had a scooter because of health issues, the owner personally said give me a moment and he had us seated, took very good care of us. We were very very pleased to say the least. Our food was delicious and the service was top notch, we will definitely be back!! Thank you so much!
Awesome food and service, really fun place, and the owner Mike has to be one of the nicest and funnest guys Ive ever met. Im from Cleveland and was wearing my Cleveland Browns sweatshirt and he razzed us the whole time. Definitely a great experience after visiting the 911 Memorial and Museum, and only a few blocks away. Definitely recommend!
What a gem! The walls and ceiling of this Irish pub pay wonderful tribute to first responders. Patches and stickers from all over the country adorn this place. And did I mention the food and service? Both were excellent. I am putting OHaras on my list of places to go next time Im in town!
We loved this place we went before and after the freedom tower tour .the food was awesome definitely gotta get the French onion soup...the drinks were great they have the walls covered in patches of all first responders on 911 ...a must stop
I first experienced the OHaras atmosphere when doing a memorial 9/11 event in NYC. The bar is located right at Ground Zero, and was directly affected by that days tragedies. Regardless, as a gathering place for many police and fire personnel and their families, there is a ton of history here. Warm and welcoming, the employees make the bar. This is a must visit on any trip to NYC.
They went out of their way to seat us quickly (and it was busy/packed) and the food was outstanding. Also, not a long wait for food considering how busy it was hat evening. The decor is first responder patches throughout the pub and other memorabilia related to 9/11. Nice place to unwind from the emotions of visiting the 9/11 memorial museum.
Wow! Absolutely lovely evening tonight! Fantastic time. Staff made us feel so welcome. Paul (the owner) was great. Knew so many people by name. We sat at a table to begin with and had a burger each, fries were delicious. We then moved to the bar and sat with Mr & Mrs OConnor who were known by Paul as they visit every year. The customers make the bar. All so extremely friendly. A meal turned into leaving the bar four hours later. Such a friendly bar and would definitely recommend and re-visit on our next trip. Mr OConnor even left with us to hail a taxi to make sure we got back to our hotel. Paul, you have some extremely friendly customers. Thank you Paul and team!
The food was just ok. We are staying at Club Quarters hotel close by & didnt want to walk around to look for food.It was crowded. Server was nice and attentive. The burgers were ok. This place is ok because its much cheaper than Mortons if you dont want to walk too far from the hotel. Nachos did have generous portions of beef, but would have tasted better with jalapenos. Burgers too thick & cheesy.Tv showing Eagles game was blurry..They need HD tvs.
What an awesome pub! Rebecca is a very cool bartender too. She is very easy going and fun to talk to. My wife and I stayed a couple nights in the area and stopped to have a few at OHaras each night. They are located across the street from the 9/11 memorial. Great location!
Whats not to love about this place. We always go when we visit NYC. Of course theres amazing history here but the food and beer are also excellent. I had the Shepherds pie and the burger the past few timesits solid.
Very fun place! Great staff, great music, great drinks.
A place where brotherhood is not forgotten. Look respectfully at the decorated walls, where each badge has its own story, then sit down and have a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere.
Nice Pub but the burgers are not so good.
Appreciating the police theme, good and tasty no-nonsense burgers and prooer pint.
Cool little place, lots of vibe. Great food, ordered solely from the specials menu, wasn’t disappointed.
Found this Gem of a pub and it was rammed to the gills, but was greeted upon entering and was offered a table for 2 which was ideal. The atmosphere was buzzing and full of people talking over the music playing which was refreshing to hear and witness. No internet so this helped too, highly recommend.
We went here for lunch after we visites the 9/11 Memorial. Our tour guide earlier that day has told us how OHaras was damaged in the attacks and the first restaurant at Ground Zero to reopen after the attacks. The wall is completely covered in patches and flags from police forces around the world. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. The food was OK and they would not accommodate any of the food allergies in our group. Certainly worth a stop.
We didn’t eat BUT after a long day of touring Manhattan with the kids; the missus and I needed a drink. Our lovely barmaid was a saint and made us a Black Velvet and I had a “Fighting 69th” Irish whiskey. Great atmosphere with locals & tourists. Well worth the visit. Close to the 9/11 memorial
This is one of the most spectacular bars in New York City. We come here every 9/11 and commemorate with all the service members who come here. Staff is unwaveringly friendly thought out the years and nothings changed. Please come support this business.
I wonderful place with great service. The atmosphere is so powerful with all of the tributes from fire companies, police, veterans. This club is right across the street from Ground Zero.
The history and the vibe of this place is Awesome!!!
In the food capital of the world, with a restaurant every 5 feet, OHaras Pub is always a stop on my trips to the city. Awesome food, wonderful environment and amazing service. Its the ideal pub with delicious pub food like wings and sliders, its simple and yet so good. Id give it 10 stars if I could. And make sure to bring a patch for the wall if youre a first responder!
Philly cheesesteak was great. The mushrooms made it!!
What a phenomenal spot! Food was good, staff was awesome!! The history there is something else. Make sure to ask to see the books.
This is kind of a historic place. The walls are full of patches from firemen, policemen and other service branches. Its a cosy bar , with great service and also good quality food. Price is good as well.. if you are around to visit the world trade centre, dont go somewhere else.
Good food. We love it and come back to repeat!
I like this place! Good prices and a full menu. Its close to the trade center and got us in and out quickly. My wife and I told our server we were going to split a burger; they had it cut in half on two different plates with sides for each of us.We also brought our refillable water bottles and they refilled them for us! Very happy with that attention!
We were visiting the 9/11 Memorial and wanted to grab some quick food and drinks. Not much to look at on the outside, but the inside had a great atmosphere and tribute to first responders and 9/11. Our server was very knowledgeable on local beers and super attentive. All of the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You can tell they are a great team. The food was amazing and quick. The beer was so refreshing and reasonably priced. One of our favorite places in NY so far!!
Always great food here and great service to match. Chicken wings to die for!
Brilliant atmosphere in this pub! Very lovely and buzzing! Service was great, always checking in. The wings were lovely! Hubby found the strips slightly plain but nothing hot sauce couldn’t fix!
My girlfriend and I came here and wanted to like it, but the service was the worst I’ve ever had. First, the A/C didn’t work and there were bugs everywhere. Second, the bartender paid no attention to me and took forever to even get me a menu, spending all his time trying to sell a customer on some gin. But this is where it got really bad.My girlfriend asked if they could make a certain mixed drink and he looked at her like she wasn’t supposed to be there and then looked at her ID for a solid minute or two because I guess he thought it was fake (a customer blurted out that it was too. It was not). At this point I could tell he was drunk. He never asked for my order so I went ahead and told him what I wanted. He never told my girlfriend if they could make the drink and then started telling the people at the bar a story. We had a dinner reservation somewhere else and tried to get his attention multiple times. Finally, when we asked him about the drink again he was completely confused. He acted like we never even asked and then the two customers next to us (both also drunk) said we never asked for it. The bartender told me, “Both the people around you are saying you didn’t order it. I’m a bartender. I’d have known if you ordered it”. I slid my beer back and said I wasn’t going to be drinking it and he said, “Fine, I don’t need your money” and proceeded to watch me the whole time I was getting my things to leave. I told him he didn’t have to stare at me because I wasn’t being kicked out, I was leaving.I’m a fair and honest guy so I won’t lie on a review. This was legitimately the WORST experience I’ve had at a business. The bartender was an Irish guy with a mole just above his lip. I don’t know his name but he was absolutely disrespectful and treated us like he couldn’t stand us from the moment we tried to interact with him. I recommend that you go literally ANYWHERE but here. Even if you have better service than I did, the place was extremely hot and had bugs everywhere and the bar was sticky, so I can’t imagine they clean this place well.SAVE YOUR MONEY. According to that terrible bartender, they’re doing so well that they don’t need it anyway. 0/10
So delicious food. We ate here every evening.
Outstanding history and services!! All employees bent over backwards to help! My new favorite
We visited the 9/11 memorial and after an emotional couple of hours definitely need a drink! This place is just a couple of blocks away and had good food and a wonderful bartender.....shout out to Sean!!! We had such a great time that day that we went back as our last hang out of the trip. Definitely recommend if you want a great place to enjoy a couple of hours.
First pub to finally find my budlight! Loved the atmosphere!
Walked in and a lot of tables are reserved. Turns out they’re only holding them so people that pay for food and sit there. No greeting when you walked in. Both guys near the bar were bothered when I asked about the tables. They sent one of them for dinner and the waiter was extremely unfriendly. The food was out most mediocre. Shepherds pie was tasteless. The cheesesteak thing was not good at all. I would never go back. Would guess that 3/4 of people there were tourist. This place seems to just rely on constant tourism to make their money instead of focusing on quality of food or service.
Fantastic atmosphere..!!!! Food is good. Was fortunate to meet the owner who immediately made me and my daughter feel at home. Hell of a nice guy...!! He took the time to explain the history behind the bar/building. Next time Im in the city I will DEFINITELY go back. Highly recommended.
An Irish pub like you expect, great atmosphere and the bartender was attentive. I had the beef stew which was worth getting again.
Great food, great vibes and great service!
Good food. Great service. Unbelievable moving stories and memories from a humble restraunt that just happened to be at ground zero 9/11. Ask to see the scrapbook.
