If you want to go to a ice bar and get mugged of this is the place to go!!!!I went here with my hubby great bar really nice ice bar, sculptures amazing!!But the cost is a joke!!!!!To get in $39 to get 2 drinks and pay for your coat and gloves. Or $19 to get in and pay for gloves, coat!Cant take take your phones/cameras in! To take photos so straight away they have you over a barrel, I wanted the photos and they gave us a discount$130 witch was 11 photos printed and emailed come to $80 I think is a rip of and I wanted the photos as they was all really good plus I wanted to remember my time in the ice bar. The drinks was nice and over all great fun but the cost put a massive downer and out right angered me and my husband.
Im bummed because I was really excited by the idea of this. They charge you $20 just to get in. Once you are inside it is extremely small. The bar has one type of wine and one type of beer to choose from. If you want a cocktail you can choose from a select few weak drinks ($15 each). Please note they do not allow you to bring a phone in so if youd like to have a memory of the whole trip you need to shell out another $20 to purchase a photo. Cute idea but we will certainly not be back.
Pretty disappointing. I had a red flag when when going in. One they say no electronics in the bar so you have to lock it away. This is so you are forced to pay for pictures and cant show off the bars 150s square foot area. I didnt expect much to be honest but going on a Thursday night and only seeing two other patrons I was let down. The ice work is really nice and the Ice glass is a nice touch. After seeing the other reviews for $15 drinks I did their premium service. So for entry and two drinks /$40. So in the end two drinks and I got to check out the ice carvings. Not exactly worth it.
#1 Tourist Trap! While it is something that peaks your interest the entry fee is outrageous and the drinks were like syrup. All the top shelf liquor there for you to see yet none was included in the actual drinks which appear to have been premade and were over the top sweet. Also, while your camera is not supposed to enter the place there is someone who comes in and of course has their own, wants to take your picture and then, yes, charge yet another fee to purchase that picture. I have never reviewed anything online other than a purchased item, but after being robbed at this place, which we only stayed at for maybe 15 minutes, I wanted to catch others before they fall into the same trap. So many other worth while places in NY to visit, dont waste your time or money.
I was EXTREMELY caught off guard when I was told I MUST lock all my belonging (except for money of course) into a locker before entering the bar. Cell phone were not allowed into the bar. I asked the girl escorting us in why, as I was looking forward to taking photos. She explained it was perhaps due to the cold. I guess because I dont know how my phone would react I couldnt argue. Upon going into the small bar there was a photographer snapping photos of everyone which would be offered to us at $20 each. What disappointed me the most was the fact it was NOT -5. It was around 32 degrees or so because my glass was melting! There was no need for the oversized coats and I could have taken in my phone. It was all about them getting more money from you as if the cover wasnt ridiculous enough.
Im giving it a 4 star because it was small would have loved for it to be bigger. But the service was great, we went for my sister birthday and they treated us great and had fun with us. Yes we didnt have our phones but they took pictures and gave us deals. We loved it even though we read the reviews which scared us Im HAPPY we went!
Nice experience. Second time in month there as we returned with another first-timer. $45 package includes two tasty choice drinks at bar inside. It IS really -5° in there, just saying. Children allowed too.
Just like everyone else said:1. Its small, like extremely small.2. Overpriced3. Staff is okay4. Cant bring in your belongings only money or card. (No cameras Or cell)5. The ice was melting6. Stayed for one minute7. Its not even that cold8. No music9. They charge for EVERYTHING10. They dont make you feel special on your birthday. In other words, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR FUNDS. The place is ridiculous and shameful. If you want the experience, fill your coat closet with bags of ice and sit in it.THE BAR LOOKS NOTHINGGGGG LIKE THE PHOTOS ONLINE.DONT DO IT!!! I wish I can give it zero stars.
Not really recommended for new yorkers, overprices. the admission is 40 and all you get is a not functional coat, if you really want to come, bring your own gloves.n the bar is really small and not as big as it looks on the pic. the glass is made by glass and thats pretty cool, but a ok quality cocktail charge for 15...not fun
I wish I had an option of not giving any stars at all!!!I got extremely disappointed with this place and especially with their customer service. Below is my story:I picked this place to celebrate my Birthday. Me and my girlfriend visited it in the beginning of July, 2014. All the visitors were asked to leave their personal belongings including the cell phones at the lockers. As a result, you would not be allowed to take any picture inside. However we were PROMISED by the staff that all the pictures, taken by local photographer, will be uploaded to the bars web-site.Few days after our visit, I decided to check the web-sites gallery and was very disappointed after I realized that there was not even one picture available with me or my girlfriend. Their photographer took at least 10 pictures of us during that evening.I wrote an email to their customer support and received a response saying that probably I chose the wrong city in the gallery or wrong date. I responded back to them explaining that I am aware how to navigate their web-site and that there were absolutely no pictures uploaded for us.I was expecting to get any response at least with the apology. But they didnt bother to follow up at all. I emailed them again 2 weeks later and didnt get any response neither. Please, do NOT promise what you are not able to deliver. And try to respond to your customer service queries. Thanks a lot for ruining my Birthday!!!I will NOT recommend this place to anyone. Extremely embarrassing and negative experience.
Its an experience that you dont really need to try. I was in the NCL ice bar and this is very similar. You pay to get into a room that is covered in ice and has a few sculptures.I wasnt that cold and didnt go for the jacket just stayed in my street jeans and t-shirt and was fine. The drinks are very overpriced and no one stays in there for long. There is no music and it gets boring after a while.
Horrible experience! The bar was what i expected very cool sculpuctures but the staff made this experience a bad one. Bartender was arrogant the girl who took the pictures wasnt around for a good 20 mins and i asked if i could bring in my phone quickly for one picture and he just shut me down. Like a phone is going to harm anyone!! Ridiculous! Just wasnt worth it
Claustrophobically small. Seriously, the whole bar is the size of a dorm room. In the country where size masters this is embarrassingly small. Dont fall for pics on the website. Neither the experience not the drinks are worth the money. And did I mention its small?! Two stars go out to staff. At least they didnt disappoint.
We went there for Easter egg hunt. Its a bar other times. It really is an interesting place for a bar. I didnt have any drinks so I cant say any thing about that. But everything is made out of ice. Seats, glasses, walls etc. I should try here around mid August.
Fun novelty bar, but pricey. The value package was $45 for the cover and two lower shelf drinks. We had fun doing it once. No need to do it a second time.
Get ready for chilling experience. Great bar to start your night out in NYC. Amazing drinks that are poured in glasses made entirely of ice. The parka keeps you warm and so does the vodka.
We walked past this place and went in on impulse. Although the bar is quite small, there was no time limit like most ice bars, there was a great atmosphere and the service was great! Worth popping into...
We were not permitted with our phones but told that there was a photographer and the photos would be for free in their website. Surprise now I need to buy the photo now... i feel robbed. Service was not the best, drinks were okay.
Dont do it!!!!!! It was a complete waste of money! The place is soo small and the drinks were more like a shot then a cocktail! We were only there for like 15 mins cause we felt like we got robbed! Def not what I expected!
Brand new and just in time for this summers heat wave, this is the ultimate spot to cool down (and warm back up after a few drinks). You can find the bar inside of the Hilton.
Very novelty. Its cool the first time but everything is pricey (understandably so) and it loses its appeal after and hour or so. Cool experience but I dont think Ill be back
Expensive drinks. Pictures not allowed. They can take pictures only for a $20 charge per picture but the pictures are awful...Small bar, and the same guy is a bartender, photographer, coat checker.....
Sure its a novelty, but its still fun. Everything is ice, the bar, the chairs, the glasses, everything. Come on, you gotta admit thats awesome.
NOT COOL!!!!!! The brochure says nothing about having to pay just to enter. I walked for the longest to get here.
Terrible experience. Had to ask for bartender and the drinks are horrible! Tourist trap. Its not worth the time or money.
Tiny. High cost of entry. Poorly made drinks. Borderline scam. Seriously....skip it.
Hated it. Terrible atmosphere, overpriced drinks, okay service
Myself and 5 other friends came here tonight. Aaron and Leah were very helpful and nice. Although a little small and pricey it was a great experience. They usually do not let you take pictures and have your phones locked away but after 24 hours all photos are available on their website (watermarked but still FREE to share!!!)
I dont get it. I didnt read reviews ahead of time as I thought we were just going to meet at a bar....oh, an ice bar? Maybe it has a shot luge or something fun. No. It was awkward at best. I was not a big fan of their drink selection. The cameras always watching you is a bit creepy. I didnt wear the parka they give you because it honestly was not that cold in there.Coolest part was the drinks served in ice shaped like tumbler glasses and the friends I brought with me.Sorry, no photo because you cant have your phone to warn your other friends not to meet you there. Fortunately, I was able to look out the door window and see my other friends looking to join us. I ran out just before they paid and mentioned that we were just finishing up our second drinks so I didnt sound rude to the employees by yelling NO! RUN!
Cool place! 😁 Literally, so COOL you cant stay very long! Haha We had a good time while we were there and enjoyed some great Vodka!
They dont let cell phones in for all the wrong reasons. Theyd get a lot or free publicity of they wised up and allowed it. The only way you can get pics is by paying $40 for three pics. OK... Sure. Otherwise its a pretty cool place.
This place is great, a must for all tourists to NYC. I cant believe the reviews are not better. Its walls, chairs, bar, shelves, glasses, everything is sculpted beautifully in ice. Wear closed shoes in summer.
A unique bar. Prices were expensive, drinks were just ok. You go for the experience. Took our phone in even though we were advised not to. No problems and had fun taking pictures.
Unethical business practices. We were told that we couldnt bring our phones in because of the risk of damage due to cold, which I thought was ridiculous so I kept it anyway. 5 minutes into being there, I took a photo the manager burst in like it was To Catch a Predator and asked me to leave (I was on camera). Apparently, the only reason they say you cant bring a phone is to charge you for an overpriced photo (30$ or 40$).Aside from that, the drinks were overpriced, and not good, the vibe was horrible and the service was slow. This place is the quintessential tourist trap and I recommend you avoid it like the plague, unless you want to be separated from 100$ in five minutes for a horrible experience. If this is the Hiltons venture I am disappointed in the brand; if it isnt the they should reassess the relationship because it gives the hotel a bad reputation.
In A Nutshell:-This ice bar is located inside the Hilton and there is some construction happening where it be expanded into the existing hotel lobby.-For $75 (VIP Treatment), you get to choose a black or white fur coat, get a free eskimo cap, one icey adult beverage served in an ice cup and a couple photos.-The ice bar is smaller than I imagined it would be and the drinks were so-so. I had the Fireball Mango, which was pretty strong. The ice cup was nice to hold (with gloves) and fun to lick.-The layout was like a small New York apartment with a couple living/family rooms and a smaller enclosed room.-There is a really cool ice throne with a fur you can sit on and do your best Game of Thrones impression.Overall, the photographer was pretty horrible. The shots came way too quick and werent very focused. Not really worth $75 each. Go for the $20 experience instead.
Place was somewhat dirty. The vanilla sundae was good but theres nothing really special about this place. Would recommend but wouldnt go out of my way to do so.
The idea behind this place is great. On a hot summer day, going to this bar is a great way to escape from the heat. The problem is that the place has a lot of cons. Its way too pricey, the drinks are small, you arent allowed to use cameras or cell phones to take pictures, and the place itself too small. They should make a bigger one that doesnt have a cover charge and one that doesnt have so many rules and regulations. Its a great place to go once and only once because it was a nice experience. I wouldnt go back there though unless they changed some of the cons that I just mentioned.
Got scolded for making an imprint in the ice with the hand. Sorry, didnt know it wasnt allowed and wasnt told. It is cold inside though. Couldnt take my cell phone inside. Id stick to regular bars were you can drink in comfort. Its also expensive. Not worth it.
Its just a bar, ppl expecting the club experience shouldnt go here. One small room about 400 square feet. No cameras so you really cant take your memories with you. They have a lil camera man thats half ass. Besides that, its the experience of just going there thats great I guess
Nice for a one time experience. Priced slightly on the steeper side, it starts getting boring within 15-20 minutes. Nonetheless, worth a visit for once!
From the outside you cant really see in, and there is a reason for that. Its small and sparse inside, there are a couple of ice sculptures and the benches are made of ice with fake animal skin covers to stop you freezing your butt off on them and that is pretty much it. My first ice bar experience was in London and compared to that one this place is like sitting in the ice box of my refrigerator.$20 to get in, $15 for a cocktail. It didnt seem like good value to me.
Very unique room and experience. Drinks were just terrible and the shot that is included is some house peach mix. And its pretty expensive. Glad I went once but would not go twice
Ive heard about ice bars for years but never got the opportunity to visit one. Id also seen Minus5 forever given its location right by my beloved Halal Guys cart which I used to work down the block from. So when my brother got me a GroupOn for Minus5 I was psyched! Grabbing someone to go with was more difficult than expected but eventually I twisted someones arm. I wasnt wild about the jackets (a bit icky IMO) but they did their job well. As others have noted the place is very small; its basically a small area where theres a bar with not enough room to stand around, a long enclosed table room, and then a medium-sized open area with a few sculptures. My apartment is bigger than the place. Still the ice sculptures were cool--the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones was the highlight--and the novelty is certainly there for 15-20 minutes. The drinks are weak and way too sweet. Theyre also mixology bar-level pricing which sucks and also small. The ice glasses are cool but be careful not to squeeze them too hard. Im glad I went but probably wont head back anytime soon unless someone really wants to go. If youre up for the novelty then go ahead and try this; Id avoid it otherwise.
I didnt just drinkIts something you can tell your friends about and they will get jealous. Its a unique experience.
Unlike other people we brought our cell phones in took pictures, even the bartender took pictures for us. It was real slow that day when we went we were staying at the hilton so we just walked over there. The drinks are the same price in any other bar , your in manhattan. I its a novalty, have to go. I will prob go again. I have many pictures to prove they were from our cell phones.
An expensive tourist trap. It is very small with not much to do. To add insult to injury, they didnt allow us to take our own pictures. The staff snapped a few photos which were supposed to appear on their website, but never did.
Ok I dont get it pay $20 to sit on ice and have a drink? Why? And that does not exclude drinks. $45 with the fur coat. Tourist trap.
Just a small room made of ice. Not impressed at all. Not worth the money. A waste of time. A Groupon Rip Off.
Too small, very pricey, not worth it. Unless you never have seen ice and have plenty of money to spend. We spent $100/person for one shot(in a normal glass) and one cocktail in those ice glasses.
Give me my money back, i was pubically raped by you guys
Alright Experience. I got discount tickets through Groupon, I wouldnt pay full price for this experience. Room is small and the bartenders are not always present.
The music is boring and the inside doesnt look like the pictures. I went in and out, it was a waste of time and money!
Over-priced. Watch out for that. Its just a gimmick.
Not worth the $100 to get in & get 2 drinks. Small & unimpressive. Pass on this place.
Fun. But stupid high drink prices
Very small space, expensive drinks
Awesome experience!
Loved my experience here!
Interesting. The name says it all!
Heading there on Friday lets find out
Very cold in temperature and price
Lame. Expensive. Small.
So so
Terribly small place.
BORING .. OVERPRICED .. OVERHYPED
Because
Great Place
I entered the store prepared for minus 5 degrees,I looked at the thermometer on the bar counter inside. It was close to -20 degrees. Deer fur? butIt felt warm.
Actually a rip off. We paid almost $120 for two people, two small drinks each and souvenir pictures. However, the pictures turned out beautifully and on vacation the costs are always relative.Theres one star for the friendly staff, one for the good souvenir pictures and one for the idea. This is a very favorable review.
Its expensive... and you can only stay inside for a maximum of 30 minutes, but its worth visiting
Permanatly closed
The pizza was basically just an ordinary frozen pizza. But the brilliant chef simply added olives to them. boy oh boy come on! simply great! will definitely come back
Ice bar attached to Hilton Midtown. The entire store is made of ice, and you have to rent a coat or jacket when you enter. The temperature is set at minus 5 degrees Celsius, and strong alcohol is served, but you need to be careful as you will get very drunk when it comes out.
Although the bar is small, it is still visited by many people. It is cheap and affordable.
Disgusting and expensive cocktail not to make
Great news
