Lovely cute tiny bar. Love the ambience. Its like a hidden gem. Will definitely come back
This is one of the last true dive bars in the neighborhood. The staff are lovely, the ambience is perfect. Always visit here when Im back home. They dont have a bar menu (other than chips) but theyre cool if you order food from elsewhere. Rolling Rock + Well Shot is a good deal. Its on the dark side inside but if youre with company or befriend the bartender youll have a wonderful time.
Best historic dive bar in New York City!No frills!Milanos is an intimate dime lit hidden gem. With cheap drinks and friendly staff along with a alternative style decor with cool memorabilia, Great music this place will always come to mind when I need a drink in New York City,Located in lower Manhattan,Will always recommend Milanos barGrab a shot and a beer, it’s the best combo on the menu
Great old fashion Bar.Just like a bar should be.Good atmosphere and vibe, reasonable prices.Great place to get a drink and feel at home
Awesome dive bar. Chemlight and neon mood. Good drinks. Juke box tunes. As narrow as a coffin - perfect!
Old really old awesome little bar. If you dont know it you will walk right by it. Awesome close quarters old school bar. From the 1880s...
Since 1880.Not sure how to convey sufficiently the ongoing warmth and welcoming spirit of this bar — so well loved and revered that it stands here this day, as warm and as safe a space for ALL, as ever I’ve had the blessed fortune to witness.Ask for Alex He rocks.
We had drinks in this wonderful bar. It was most cozy, relaxed and nicely worn. The service was ok, though there was only the bartender thus you had to wait for the drinks. The location is perfect after dinner in SoHo. The music was not played too loud - you could discuss there. The pricing was moderate. We could come back.
Fun spot, the bartender and the local regulars were a lot of fun. Great local hometown spot to have a drink and just chill. They def made us felt welcomed and we had a great evening with everyone we met that evening.
Spent many an afternoon here in the 90s enjoying pints of Guinnes with friends. Moved from NYC, but returned on Wednesday 4/10 to drink with a friend. Amazing to find that the music, pints and friendly atmosphere and service hadnt changed.
This is your typical hole-in-the-wall establishment. Not one of the bartenders has been rude to me at all. In fact, the last bartender that served us there was awesome. Unfortunately it seems like there has been a regime change recently.Tonight I was kicked out for appearing too intoxicated. Which apparently is a swipe at my recent disability. Recently Ive lost about 60 lbs in a short amount of time, which has definitely changed my equilibrium. So I kinda walked into the bar stumbling. After serving me four drinks they cut me off, because I was stumbling. They didnt even talk to me, the part that bothers me the most, they told my wife, while I was in the bathroom, that they were cutting us off.I returned from the bathroom and my wife told me. I was honestly surprised that they didnt have the nerve to tell me directly. My wife had to tell me that they were cutting me off and I honestly didnt believe her. I asked the bar tender for another round and he came up and said Its for the best....Now, okay, if I was legally too intoxicated to serve, then so was everyone else in the bar. I felt singled out because of my recent impairment. One simple phrase, if I had 4 drinks at 315 lbs and was too intoxicated to serve, why didnt anyone else in the bar, who had been served more than four drinks, at least get questioned.Ive worked in many bars in my time and yes, they had a right to kick me out under the law. The discrimination comes when they solely refused service to me. It comes down to an abuse of power that wasnt equally applied.
Cool neighborhood bar that’s open late. Bartender was super nice and prices were reasonable
First day in New York City and I walked in here and somebody immediately bought me a pint.Amazing.Fantastic little spot 👌🍻
Great hole in the wall place. Super honest pricing - pint of draft was $6!!!! In this part of town!!Great bartender, good chat. Would defo come back if in the hood.Take care, brush your hair!
Love this friggin bar! So many memories at this place. Bartenders arent stuffy. And the drinks are cold. Theres also a juke box. Stay thirsty🍻
Small, dark, with good rock music and fellows that look like they just left the full throttle game... great bar. Great ambiance, friendly staff, really worth knowing this place.
One of the best dive bars in NYC
Great hole-in-the-wall dive bar, with easy access to trains and friendly staff.
Great dive but with exceptionally clean toilets! Great jukebox, cheerful (and cute!) bartender and cheap cocktails (for NY, at $7). Not strong cocktails unfortunately but definitely overall a cheap and cheerful place.
Really nice little dive bar with good ambience and an affordable beer menu. The bartender was really attentive, friendly and funny. Service was really good. Would definitely go back. Had no trouble finding a seat on a busy Saturday night.
One of the best bars Ive been to in NYC !!
Cheapish drinks with nice bartenders and good music. Nice atmosphere but most of all a little cramped
Jackie made us feel so at home! If you love a good dive bar friendly regulars, you’ll have an amazing time here. Will be stopping by every time I visit NYC moving forward!
If you are lucky enough to go during the day shift, they have a bartender that is as good as they come - Keith is the name. Great stories and top notch service!
Its the quintessential dive bar. Cheap drinks with 2 TVs. Shot and a beer specials.
Love this place. To me, its THE divebar in NYC.
Had a blast. Even though we werent unruly and werent causing a problem, other than almost drinking them out of 16oz high life, we almost got cut off because they hadnt experienced a group that could drink that much and felt like we should slow down or stop..... We kept the party going though. Bottom line great crowd and locals, super fun dive.
Classic NYC dive bar. No frills, just good boozy times.
Hipster faux dive bar. Not impressed at all and I really wanted to love this place based on how it looked. Lady bartender was indifferent at best. $9 Jamesons on the rocks that tasted like it was watered down. I love a good dive bar and this place definitely has that look and feel, but it just doesnt serve up the dive bar experience. Go to Bleecker Street Bar 2 blocks away instead.
Best dive bar 🙌 got to drink at 10:30 AM, bartender was attentive and engaging. Place is TINY, but good cold beer and definitely filled with odd characters and people watching!
Great old style bar. Cheap beer and the bartenders are super friendly. Met one of the leaseholders and had a great chat too. Fun hangout without having to deal with stuck up attitude.
I was in New York on vacation a couple of years ago with some friends and this place is by far the best bar in town!!!!! Looking forward to go back!Cheers from Buenos Aires!!!
We LOVED this place. Such a hidden gem!!!! The bar tender was so so nice and the vibes of the place were great. Definitely recommend for a night out or definitely a pregame spot at least!
One of the last old school bars in the area.Iconic. Real feel .orginal nyc bar. Small and quaint...great place to stop in for a cold oneI was disappointed that they stopped serving Shaffer . Ive been going there for 25 years now . Not sure how much longer it will hang on. So try to stop In Before it disappears
Stumbled into this place w my friends on a random Tuesday, we’ve been coming back ever since.🍻🥃
The best Dive Bar in the city!!!I love this place. You can go early in the morning and late at night!!! Is the perfect paradise of the drinkers!!! Its wonderful!!!!
I came in here alone after catching up with a friend who works at a nearby start-up in Soho (haha, surprise, surprise) and needed a place where I could kill about 2-3 hours as I waited for some other friends to meet me for happy hour catch-up drinkie poos. I wasnt looking for a pretentious bar, just something that wasnt going to break the bank and whos booze selection would satisfy my palate.I left here with 3 new friends and yes, one of them was the bartender who was one of the sweetest female bartenders Ive ever met and Im absolutely kicking myself for not being able to recall her name (my gut says it began with a J, but MAN, I cannot remember for the life of me!).Milanos is a dark and gritty divey bar that manages to make you feel as if NYC hasnt completely lost its 90s character. After having sat there alone, made friendsies with the 2 gruff men next to me, not at all having been hit on or disrespected and watching the female bartender attend to everyone efficiently and without pretense, flirting or any sort of sugarcoating I felt that this was going to become my home away from home now that this was also my new work neighborhood. This place is also way cooler than anything that my old work neighborhood of Colombus Circle/Hells Kitchen has to offer if youre just looking for a place to throw a few back and call it a day. She even charged my iPhone at the bar which was awesome because my battery was so low that I couldnt even power my phone on... #FirstWorldProblemsIf I remember correctly (cuz yanno - oy!), the happy hour here really just meant $1 off all beers and well drinks. While this may not be the worlds best happy hour, the prices here are so low - especially given their location, I mean SOHO pffffffft - that happy hour prices arent even really required here. For about $6 I ordered a tall boy of PBR and it came with a house whiskey shot - and NO the house whiskey was actually NOT bad. Not bad at all folks. For $6 I was totally put in my happy place :). The guy next to me also sprung to order Chinese food and even paid for my steamed pork dumplings order - which also happened to be the BEST STEAMED PORK DUMPLINGS IVE EVER HAD FROM A FAST-FOOD CHINESE PLACE. For serious. Thin wrappers much? Delicious flavorful pork? Yep.MAN, I wish I knew the name of the place we ordered from! Lol. Oy. Come to think of it, there is a lot of I dont remember from this afternoon - which means that Milanos clearly did their job well. 5 stars for keeping it real, providing patrons with menus to order food and for having actual friendly regulars at the bar counter, I LOVE THAT. Im sure Ill definitely be back here and SOON! :D
Amazing bar that you could easily walk by without realising it’s there. Love the ambiance, drink prices and super friendly bar tenders. Domenico and Maria were so friendly.
Over the years, Ive been here several times. I always stop by on the way from some other place or on the way to some other place. What can I say, good to have a few drinks, hang for a little bit with friends, then move on. Its neither great nor horrible, its just a place for some drinks.
Bring your friends or come alone. Always a fun time at Milano’s!
Don’t want to date myself, but I can remember back when Tommy Milano still ran the joint! Still one of the best bars in NYC❤️🔥
The real best American bar.
The classic dive bar in these parts. Overlook at your own peril. No, seriously. Stop by.
Nice little place in which to ensconce
Quirky little dive spot with a jukebox. Need I say more?
Expensive Manhattan, poor beer selection, (32 dollars for a Manhattan and 1 beer)But the patrons and the bar tender are good peopleThe vibe is nice as well
Great price, Sports on TV, Cozy spot, generous pours😁. Walked in here to catch the game and stayed for the regulars. Everything you need in bar- area
Always worth a visit when in NY
If you know you know. There might be other good dive bars in NY but they all want to be Milanos.
This is one of my favorites. My friend and I visit once or twice a month. They have never disappointed. The walls are fun to look at too.
Walking around and randomly come upon it. Good prices. Nice dive bar with decent music. Ill come back here if I ever come back to NYC.
100% best dive in the city. bartenders are attentive, kind, easygoing and fun. anyone that walks in feels like your friend. i love that i have this spot in my rolodex!
Good hole in the wall to grab a few beers after work. Easy pricing and kind bartenders. Gets crowded in the front by the bar which makes it hard to get in/out.
Really good food really nice atmosphere right on the lake its nice to go there and have dinner take a walk around the lake come back for a nightcap... Great place for date night
The Bartender... she was Awesome!!!Definitely going back!
Ok dive bar with good music. I would have rated this place better if the woman behind the bar wouldnt have yelled at me when taking a picture.
Great little divey bar to sit and be alone at or to chat it up with other bar flies. Small, good beer and shot, friendly bartenders
I wish we found this place a couple of weeks ago. Maria the bartender was brilliant and friendly. While chats with the locals was everything we wanted. Friendly atmosphere, well priced beers and great vibe.
Very Relaxed atmosphere. A bit too small. JUKEBOX LIES TO YOU, don t put money in and think your taking over DJ function.
Friendly neighborhood dive bar. Sure its small and dark, and the beer selection could be better, but the bartenders are great.
Milano’s is the best. It could have become a tourist attraction but it is what it is. A dive bar. Don’t order drinks with more than two ingredients.
No food. If a Fat person sits at the Bar near the door, no one can get in or out. Despite that, one of my favorite bars in NYC. Friendly and inexpensive (for manhattan)
This is such a chill dive bar. We love when we get the chance to have off during the week and be able to day drink!!! All the bartenders we have encountered have been so nice and friendly- immediately telling us his name. I love that because it makes you feel right at home. Music is great, atmosphere is great!!! My norm speech-dive bars are not all about you- go order a few beers or simple mixed drinks, relax, have small talk with your friends or other guests and just have a nice relaxing time. No frills or expectations!!!!
9 bucks for a Jameson in NYC? That is not a dive bar. Sorry. Im not a hipster that moved here from some other state. Im local. Thats just nonsense.
We went in and all ordered straightforward drinks (tequila soda, etc.). We thought that given the dive bar nature and the fact that our drinks were not particularly hard to make, a $1 tip per drink was reasonable. Customer service was not anything outstanding. The blonde bartender came back and said in a very condescending manner that 20% is the standard and we need to tip her more. In my opinion, tipping is optional and based off quality of service, and the service we got was not worth 20% of our tab. Their responses to negative reviews on here also say a lot about how they treat customers. Will not come back.
A great night with meeting new and interesting people😊 The bartender in despite of having the best day in her life, made my day😊 I will be back 😊
I had a great time here. Best Irish bar in nyc.
If you’re looking for a dive bar experience with great bartenders and a great juke box you’ve found Reasonably priced drinks as well.
Nothing has changed much here in the last 20 years. Same old stuff. Great dive bar. One of the last of a dying breed.
This bar never fails to be a good time. Cozy with a great jukebox and friendly staff!!
No frills dive bar, which is my kind of dive bar. Small place but it opens up a little bit more once you move towards the back. The bartenders were super friendly and took a little time to chat and get to know us too since the place wasnt very crowded at the time. Not sure if they sell food dishes but snacks are available to buy from behind the bar. Im a dive bar person so if you like that vibe youll def get what youre looking for here.
Great little dive bar.
Hang out here during NYCC 2019 with a bunch of other pro comic creators and workers. Great time 🖤.
Great Dive Bar. Must visit & see Jackie The Bartender...🍺🍺🍺.
Cool place on a Friday night, super small but dope vibes
Love me a good Dive Bar.$6 beer and a shot.
Red hair tall bartender with beard who plays in a band kept making weird remarks to the people in our party. There was a comment about how the girls were beautiful when we ordered drinks and then kept mentioning it over to them. Overall weird bartender did not make the environment comfortable at all. Dont recommend going if youre looking to chill and enjoy. looks cool in the inside tho.
Best bartenders in the city! They represent everything of what New York is... Awesome.
A classic, almost genre-defining dive bar. When you need a drink at 8:15am or 3:15am, this is the place. The bartenders are great, it doesn’t smell the best, and the clientele is diverse in all conceivable ways. A hold out against everything the City is becoming. Love it.
A dark comfortable old school bar with a world wide clientele great jukebox....ask for Jackie
Great dive. Perfect for catching up with good friends. Tight space can be crowded.
What can I say...definitely old school vibe AMAZING 👏
Great dive bar in NYC and reasonably priced. Beer shot combo only 6 bucks. Well definitely continue to come here. Only chips and snacks available.
The quintessential dive bar. If you like dive bars this is the best one, if thats not your thing, go elsewhere
Music was amazing and no tourists dope ass dive and badass staff im down to get down here-whiskeygold
It smells like farts. Because I’m pretty sure the guy who was sitting next to me kept farting. Hopefully he’s not there if you visit.
Dive bars have always been the wifes and I favorite type of bar. Milanos is just that and in the best way possible. We happened upon this bar while visiting and were immediately smitten. The bartender was easy talking and provided some history of the bar. Great prices and cold beer are the best combination.
Nice place good people .nice vibe.worth a second time around.check it out
Its a bar to get drinks at. They have drinks, stools & a bar. Thats it. Its perfect.
Worst bar ever, horrible aggressive service
Dive bar with some of the most interesting people you will meet, a real downtown experience
Lady behind the bar was awesome. Perfect dive.
This is my favorite dive south of Houston.
Amazing local dive bar - one of the lasts in the area.
Excellent bar on Houston
Lisa was great. Fun small bar with a comfortable atmosphere
Fast drink, slow drink, get it here and enjoy. Wish I had gone here more.
Whole place smells like farts due to lack of any air circulation, and bartender serves as if shes doing you a favor.
Me and the dawgs hit the wells like there was no water
Best bar we visited in the city! Great vibes, a true dive.
The clientele are really square but drinks are super cheap
Excellent bartenders with high levels of emotional intelligence and self awareness. Highly recommend at 8am for fresh coast Friday. Looking forward to returning for the $6 rock & shot combo until they run outTell papa Dave the fresh coast sent you @freshcoastfc
Narrowest bar Ive ever been too! Very friendly staff. Very cool history. Over 140 years old!
Best bar in Soho/ East Village. People talk and bartenders are very fun. Love it.
Bar tender made me a drink before she out the drink downcasts she doesn’t work for free meaning a tip which I would have as soon as she packed my disrespectful won’t be back old blonde
This is a great little local bar. Everyone was friendly, and Keith, the morning bartender, treated us like a regular.
Great find - love the history, great beers, and Keith was great fun to chat to!
Old little Italy bar, basically its a aisle but its very cozy
Bartender Laura was the BEST. Just a GREAT afternoon...
If you can’t stand pretentious bars and lounges then you will love this place. The $6 beer and shot special is very welcome for the area it’s in. This is the kind of place you can come alone and have a good convo with the barkeep (who also happens to be one of the best I’ve had the privilege of serving me drinks. Very fast, very attentive, and quick with a joke)The fact this place has been around over 100 years and retains that old New York vibe my dad remembers from 70s is just icing on the cake. This place is a gem
Dive bar with an old temperamental dog to great you at the door. What else can you want?
Fun little dive with a nice jukebox. Be careful if you sit in the back when its packed and youve had a few drinks, its quite a tight fit between the bar seating and the wall.
A true NY dive bar, reasonable drinks on happy hour, worth a visit when in little Italy
Great place! Reasonable prices, good staff. Its just..a bar! - another patron. Very true, and getting harder and harder to find!!
I love this bar and make a point of visiting every time I am in NYC.
Thr best dive bar Im aware of in NYC.
Great locals bar in lower Manhattan.
Thank God Milano still exists. It is what it is. Love it while its still there.
Our soccer team comes here every week after games and continues to be pleasantly impressed by staff and patrons and the incredible, unique atmosphere that the bar provides
Dive bar. Great bartenders but run down bar, especially the bathrooms.
Greatest place to sit down and have a pint and chat with people
What a great place Super friendly staff, its been there forever. Great bartender too
One of the best effing bars in Manhattan. Great prices, bartenders are dope and super welcoming. Ill be back!
The bartender is very smart and aware of his customers’ needs
Solid NYC dive bar with a selection of draft beers on tap
Small town dive bar vibe in the big city! This is a must place stop for me every time Im in Manhattan!
If you like darklit drinking establishments that you can either ride solo to or bring your friends and impress, just walk in!
Neighborhood dive bar with lovely staff and cheap (but great) beers. Guinness on tap.
One of the best dives in NYC. They dont make them like this anymore!
Great prices, beer and shot ! best combo
Tiny old dive bar. The music was perfect (Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pixies), the bathroom was decent, the prices were typical of NYC, and the bartender was hot. What more could you want in a tiny old dive bar??
This place is the DIVE bar of Houston St. Definitely cheap drinks & local vibes.. exactly how I like it. Not a very large bar so coming here during leak times means standing-room only.
With all the development in the area, I was pleasantly surprised by walking into a dying breed of dive bars in the area. Beer is reasonably price and bathroom with swing doors remind me of old west. The bar is small and cozy with very attentive bartender. Patrons were all walks of life and represented all areas of NY except pretentious banker or wall street types which is good thing in my opinion.
Great old NYC dive bar!
Chill place with fantastic music and great service
Laid back, nice bartender.
This place has history! We randomly came across this bar one night just strolling around and wound up staying for hours. The staff is incredible and the dive feel of the bar makes you feel at home.
Awesome crowd and staff. One off the last real since bars in NYC
Great dive, no bs bartender
One of the oldest and recognized bars in NYC for a very good reason. If youre looking for a great dive bar with awesome bartenders, this is the spot. Go on Sundays to see the bartender Lisa, shes a gem.
Great dive bar. Beers could be colder
Definitely made a memory here! Loved everything about the place. I WILL be back!
The kind of place I wish I had at home.Fun people, small, comfortable when u want a break from walking around
Cool little bar. Awesome patrons and loved the Scottish bartender. Good jukebox selection.
Unpretentious dive bar. Great for an after work drink or low-key hang out. Service is very friendly although inattentive.
Is there a better bar of this type in lower Manhattan? Is there ANY bar of this type left downtown? Thats the question. As narrow and dark as any dive you could hope for. And, for several reasons, not totally overrun with hipsters or worse, Upper East Side refugees from Brother Jimmys who think theyre slumming it downtown. If you want that experience, go to the Spring Lounge or even right next door, at Botanica.
Nice place. Great prices. Wish they had a pool table.
Small, cheap, a little divey. Welcome change from most places in the neighborhood.
Great bar second oldest bar in Manhattan. Bartender (Dave) is awesome.
This place is a hole in the wall and I love it! Cheap drinks, cool atmosphere, great music! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Neat little bar we stumbled across.
What a great place for a cold one on a hot day. Super bartender. A quintessential gritty old bar in NY.
One of the few true remaining dive bars in NYC. One of the best pints of Guinness in the city in my opinion.
Great little dive on the edge of NoLIta. The bar staff have a lot of character and stories and the drinks are super cheap.
A great place to meet the love of your life and a great place to console your broken heart.
Not spacious but nice spot
Best bar, awesome Guinness !! Hope this place doesnt go anywhere.
Eclectic mix Music, atmosphere and welcoming people
Say hello to JJ and give him a big shot!!! Luv Ya all!!!
Super dead but if that’s what ur looking for mid week, do it. It’s one of those hit or miss spots.
Strong drinks and good service
Such a great dive bar with loud jukebox. Made new friends, keep the old. Yadda yadda $10 card min
Best and speciell bar in The area. Real musik. Lets rock
Great drink special prices.
Bearded bartender is 13/10. What a savior.
Milanos is a bitchin little spot where you can drink alone in the dark or hobknob with locals, artists and eccentrics. But watch yourself boys, the lady bar tenders here will eat you for dinner if you try any of that Weinstein horseshit. Low on randos, frills and expensive booze. If youre good people, get to Milanos.
One of my favorite NYC experiences. Great bartender wonderful atmosphere.
This is the first time I went to a NYC bar on St. Patricks day and they didnt have Guinness - at NOON! I can understand running out late at night but how do you have an empty tap at noon?
Everything you would want from a dive bar and nothing you wouldnt.
Alie is one of my favorite people in the world, and not a bad voice for a dive bar either. 😃
I love this Bar!Very genuine!
AMAZING customer service!!! Love the bartenders as they are always respectful xoxo
This is a magical place ... I got engaged to my last three wives here. Also the toilets dont clog (easily).#marriage #secondmarriage #thirdmarriage #fourthtimesacharm #goodplumbing
If youre claustrophobic this is not the place for you! Checked out this tiny bar out for a quick pre-game sesh before dinner. Being from CA I was a little worried to deal w/ NY bartenders, but they were really friendly and funny. If you are looking for a pre-game spot to chill and drink for a little bit before going out, this is a good place to check out.
Decent dive bar with affordable prices
Best dive bar in the city!
Small dive. Cozy or cramped depending on your world view. Good place to catch up with friends.
One of the old Dive Bars--pefection!
Walked into this place on a Friday evening and was a big surprise how welcoming it was, Jackie is the best.
N8ce atmosphere. Good to hang out in.
👍🏻
Affordable and friendly. Great dive bar.
Been Coming here for years! Lisa the Bartender is the Best Cat woman ever!!!🐈🐾 🐾🐾🐾
Bartender was insanely rude, and when my girlfriend closed out her tab she was given the wrong credit card. Stay away from this place.
Great atmosphere and prices as well!!!!
David is my favorite!
Good pub with a decent beer selection.
Super chill
Great dive and quick drinks
Best dive in this neighborhood, bartenders were great
One of the last killer dives in this area.
You find handsome men here!
Good hole in the wall for a quick beer.
Awesome little bar, as a tourist just what I wanted to find in NYC
Good dive bar and cheap beer
The best dive bar in NYC
Best bartender. Lisa is the bees knees!!
NYC dive par excellence
Not worth a visit unless youre going out of your way for the diviest of bar experiences - horribly narrow joint with abysmal lighting, unintelligent staff, and some psychotic clientele.
