Twas the day after Christmas and all full of cheer 😁 The hostess sat me at remaining high table with two menus. 20 minutes later no one appeared to be servicing or assigned to the high table area. A waitress past by, I asked if anyone was servicing our area, and she rudely told me someone was and kept on her way. I noticed those seated at dining tables and those at the bar were serviced, but not our area. After a long travel day, I waited 10 minutes more thinking they were under staffed. Oh well, tourists bring money and I took mine to a competing bar and had a wonderful time ... sometimes ya gotta spread cheer when one place tries to bring your holiday spirit down.
Went with my sister and friend last night, waiter tried to over charge us for drinks we never got. was extremely rude and only took off one, he wouldn’t check the cameras or get a manager for us because he said that since it was on the receipt it means he gave it to us. but we were literally waiting for the ONE drink we did order and it never came, only the food on the receipt was right. he kept laughing at us when we told him the receipt was wrong but didn’t actually help. then proceeded to ignore us and not take the bill, i wanted to speak to a manger and was so fed up. will not be returning again. he was the only brown waiter and we were the only POC in the whole restaurant, we would assume that we’d be treated much better. but the whole night he was attentive to the white guests and we had to wave him down. probably won’t be returning. he needs better training, as someone who also works in the industry
The food is greatThe octopus was a wonder!!!!And the oysters at 1$/each and so freshA must see in NYC
Great little place based on recommendations from friends who live in NY. My friend’s office is close by so he recommended this place for some light food and drinks. We managed to get in for happy hour so drinks were a little cheaper which was fab! Service was good and didn’t leave us with empty glasses. Ordered some sliders, truffle fries (amazing), tacos (good but obv not as good as los tacos but still tasty), then a couple of desserts which were also fab. Would recommend! Only have photos of the desserts! Crème brûlé, saltedCaramel ice cream bowl, fudgey chocolate brownie (heaven hehe).
A recent visit to Jane Doe (Midtown) proved to be a disappointing experience. The restaurant, surprisingly empty even during what should have been peak dining hours, created an uncomfortably quiet atmosphere that lacked energy or ambiance.Jane Doe disappoints with its combination of high prices, underwhelming food, and eerily quiet atmosphere. For the price point, there are many better dining options available in NYC that offer more value and a better overall experience. While the menu sounds promising, the execution doesnt justify the higher price points. The portions are modest, and the flavors dont deliver the sophistication one would expect at this price range
Maybe we dined here on a bad day, the staff were lovely but seemed under the pump/short staffed. The service as a result was terrible. They prioritised all the larger groups over our table of 2. When we did get served the drinks were flat, and the food was overall just bad. It was also so loud in there from the construction (I assume next door?). Just overall disappointing unfortunately, can’t recommend.
Absolutely love this spot to check out a World Series game this week. Great menu and super attentive servers. Unique cocktails. Elevated Irish and American themed menu. And a beautiful lounge space to enjoy with a group or on a date
Loved the fact that the organizer from the group Im a part of had this place as a dinner event. This quaint place is such a gem; historic looking on the outside but oh so modern in the inside. The atmosphere was incredible; it can tend to be a bit loud due to patrons and the acoustics but wasnt too bad. The drink I had, pink Gin Fiz, was amazing and the food was delectable! Would definitely like to go back and try their brunch menu and for dinner again!
Bought a pulsd deal for brunch. When I was Googling this restaurant, John Doe the restaurant kept popping up so dont get confused! I guess they may be affiliated but one is near Tribeca and this restaurant is in Midtown. The place was somewhat empty but I think its because this place is sort of new and tucked away on W 44th St., away from all the touristy places. My husband and our friend had a nice brunch here. Everything tasted really good. My husband was happy that his steak was so big and it was well seasoned as well. You need to have patience because when we arrived it seemed one girl was making drinks, checking our vax cards, seating people and taking orders all by herself. Then we met another lady who seemed to be the cook but she also was the manager. It was supposed to be bottomless but our first drink took awhile to arrive and then we had to get someones attention for our second glass. Then it seemed our 60 minutes were up so we didnt order any more. The drinks were good. I decided Im not a Bloody Mary fan but it was good with the food. The Irish breakfast was very interesting. Didnt know what pudding was until today. I would recommend this place. Its nice and quiet. The staff are very nice and accomodating. Try this place out!
@janedoeloungenyc BRUNCHClassic brunch with fresh ingredients was exactly what we needed after walking for an hour around NYC !✨️ Farmers platter: 9/10 classic, can do no wrong but wish it came with a protein✨️ Steak & eggs : 10/10 cooked just the way I asked * a little more rare/ but medium rare* my go-to for brekky✨️ Avacado toast: 10/10 flavour was good and loved the side salad✨️ Chicken & waffles: 9/10 the chicken was perfectly cooked, I prefer my waffle more crisp on the outside though✨️ Creme Brulee: 10/10 YUMMY✨️ Mimosa & bloody mary : 10/10 Classic and can do no wrong✨️Oysters: 100/10 These were so good! I loved the vinegar they made and its $1 w/minimum order of 6 ♡Overall 10/10, staff was so sweet and work very hard. Id definitely come back here and reccomend making reservations for weekends!Big big shoutout to the manager Louise and our server Reza for being amasing!- Insta @ SpicyAivy
I was parked outside for 4 hours waiting for someone at The Harvard Club across the street and I needed a water and a restroom. I wanted to buy a few bottles but they didnt sell any. I didnt ha e any cash on me either. They were so nice and let me use the restroom and gave me some ice water in a paper cup. Bonus they are good looking have awesome accents and from Dublin, Ireland. Im gonna make some extra trips here just because they were so cool and the place is a really nice chill spot. Thanks for making my day yesterday!
They are in the middle of the block & worth finding. Had brunch. The great food was only exceeded by the server and the owner. I highly recommend and I plan to return soon.
Bar tender eating while serving drinks. Plaque falling out her mouth while attending a group of guys who run the place lmaoo. Didn’t even feel welcome, this bar can go to the toilette. Spend your money somewhere else… :)
Megan greeted us when we sat at the bar and she is lovely...and shes Irish!! So enjoyed having a drink here. Loved the bar and her...shes lovely
I stumbled upon a hidden gem during my sightseeing in Manhattan - Jane Doe restaurant! Juan provided exceptional service: attentive, friendly, and always radiating positive energy. His recommendation of the carbonara was spot-on and absolutely delicious. Juans accuracy and cheerful demeanor with customers deserve high praise. Without a doubt, a five-star experience! Thank you, Juan and the team, for a memorable evening! I will definitely seek out this hidden gem again.
Great bar to grab some frosty beers and a dozen oysters after walking amongst the 5th Avenue tourists. Live musician was also an unexpected treat. Will be back to try their entrees next.
This was the place I was looking for. Cold beer, excellent wings and fries, and the most friendly Irish waitress made this the best stop during our stay in NYC. Place is clean, service is fast, and bonus decorated for Christmas and good music. Honestly, I want to give it 1 star to keep it off the radar but its a great spot - cheers!
A nice establishment with good service and selection to choose from. 5 stars for service and 4 stars for food and beverage value as we were quite surprised by how small the chicken is under the sea of green leaves and the cocktail is weak with barely any alcohol taste.
On a muggy 87F day in NYC I dropped in here with my 9 year old daughter. Super friendly staff. They all have Irish accents! Love it. Happy hour is great. Literally half the price of what I spend on a drink in San Diego or anywhere here in NYC. It was $1 oysters - crazy!! Stop in when youre tired of dealing with Times Square chaos.
Marie at Jane Doe was our server for two times! She is amazing, her energy is electric and you can tell she loves her job. Marie treated me and my friend amazingly!!!! We never had to ask for more drinks she would just bring them out. The drinks here are good, & cheap in price compared to everywhere else, the atmosphere is great. Thanks Marie for taking care of me and bestie! If you go to Jane Doe ask for Marie!
I love that this place has happy hour! The most disappointing part is that the bartender was selectively attentive to customers that she felt was worth her time. Waited over 20 mins for her to acknowledge that I needed a refill. Will never spend my money here again.
Great $1 oysters all day. Never disappoint, I’ve been here a few times. Staff is super friendly. And food is always good.
Really charming spot. Came in for a pre-show cocktail and they have inventive concoctions. Definitely will come back.
Great little bar - karaoke was fun on Friday! Fun atmosphere 🌟
Food was greatMarie (our server ) was amazing !Well be back
Stopped by for a Jane Doe Amber Ale and a glass of wine. The ale was good and the melbec was nice. We then decided to have their wings and nachos. About 5pm, it got a little crowded with folks both getting an after work drink and watching the Olympics. Overall, it’s a unique place well worth a visit. By the way, they have a great happy hour from 11AM to 8PM.
What an incredible find. Great food, lovely surroundings, great service from Reza, l really cannot fault it at all.
I didnt order food but they have a happy hour food menu.
We were walking by and noticed a sign for $1 oysters and hopped in. Great place! Enjoyed some espresso martinis and oysters on our way to dinner, great service and enjoyed our time here.
This bar was OK, the atmosphere was lacking, and the waitresses perfume was very strong for an establishment that served food imo, not great
A really great bar. Amazing food, great service, keen prices and fantastic atmosphere!! We will be back!!
Food was great and flavorful. Nice portions.
Very nice place. Comfort for seating and oysters are good. Server Reza is excellent. Highly recommended, will come back again
I ordered the breakfast burger here for brunch on a snowy Saturday afternoon. The burger included onion rings and a meaty pub burger and everything tasted great. There were potatoes on the side which were a bit mushier than Id like. The pub had a pleasant holiday aesthetic and its in a convenient spot.
Elegant spot for drinks and a bite in midtown. I had the chicken tacos, they were light and spicy with plenty of greens. The fries are medium thick, not shoe string and not steak fries (thankfully). The burgers seemed well sized and proper juicy. The oyster special ($1 a piece with a minimum of six) were very good, well shucked and good quality. The happy hour ends at 6pm, and I strongly urge you to get in for that if your schedule permits. The wine was a healthy pour and there’s a wide selection of hard booze, wine and beer. This is a conveniently nice spot for group gatherings and I’d describe the menu as traditionally American Pub food.
What I appreciate about this restaurant is the consistently great food and atmosphere each time we visit. The waitstaff is always friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a bottle of Merlot, which was delightful, along with a main course of pasta with salmon and a dessert of chocolate brownie with ice cream—all of which were excellent. I highly recommend this place for its remarkable consistency.
I was there with 5 friends with each had their individual pulsd voucher ands it was a wonderful moment. The staff or manager was good did a great job with serving’s the food and the flow of the 60 minute mimosas. Highly recommended this placeFor Brunch, customer service is a little slow not it worth. I and my fry had a good time .
Wondered in one night on my own without a company and had me some yummy food and delicious drink in cozy, friendly and slightly loud atmosphere but absolutely loved it❤️ been back already in company! Def my to go bar when I’m in the city ☺️
Megan makes the best black and tan. She deserves a raise! Service and food is great!
Super friendly place, food and drink excellent, excellent serviceSuper clean, food and drinks wish we could of visited more.
Amazing bar! the staff is super friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and the lychee martini was the best cocktail Ive ever had. Would definitely recommend a visit
Amazing happy hour deals I MIDTOWN?! Unheard of. On top of that, the service was super friendly. The food was delicious. The decor ate. And the clientele was even friendly. This is my new go-to spot.
Amazing place for a bite to eat Midday or dinner. Easy to tell all ingredients are fresh and of a very high standard. We had lunch one day, and dinner another. Not one dish fails. Great location just off 5th avenue, near Bryant Park, NY public Library and a couple.of blocks from Grand Central. Great service and all reasonably priced. Soup and sandwiches at lunch time wont fail you! Highly recommended on all fronts!!!
This must be 1 of the strangest layouts Ive seen in any bar. The cover photo does not show what I mean. I was with my sister & nephew whom I hadnt seen in a while so I got distracted and didnt take any pictures. Sorry. Our server was so nice, fun, efficient & beautiful. Our quesadilla, nachos and wings were delicious! The drinks were strong so it was a good happy hour.
Went with my wife for dinner and a bottle of wine. Bartender greeted us with amazing energy. Our waitress (Blonde, female- beware of this waitress) came promptly and was at first very nice. At first, the experience was exquisite- good food, good energy. Then, the bill came. The waitress took it upon herself to place a $25 tip onto my card before we could even complete the transaction. I then decided I wanted to pay the tip in cash and didn’t want anything but the main charge for the meal placed onto my card. Before I could finish explaining this to the waitress, she decided to assume that I did not want to tip her at all and began flailing insults at me and my wife- calling us disgusting and even going as far as causing a scene to the bartender and trying to ban us from the restaurant (the bartender knew we did nothing wrong and welcomed us back anytime). Way to ruin what was supposed to be a relaxing experience for me and my wife. If I could refund my time (and money!) I surely would.Update: restaurant used this situation to have me banned from service through which i got the voucher for this meal. avoid this place.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff as in one bar tender tending to entire bar and at least 10 tops. Under staffed at no fault to bartender. Waiting 10 mins after being seated and was clearly forgotten. They should not be posting happy hour signs in times sq when they do not have the staff.
Love this place, they offer $1 oysters basically all day I believe cut off is at 7:30pm but friendly staff and food is amazing. we had the fish and ships and Jane doe burger both excellent options! beers from the draft are very good.. I would suggest pigs save robots but maybe limit them to about 2 or 3 depending on your tolerance they tend strong and can give major hangover if not careful lol
Great happy hour specials and fair prices. I really enjoyed this local spot. Will be returning for the dollar oysters.
Highly recommend this cozy bar and restaurant The food comes out hot and delicious. I had the the quesadilla for appetizer and short ribs and mashed potato for the entree My husband had oysters for appetizer and Fra Diablo for his entree. The oysters are a dollar each They have happy hour Love our waitress Marie she is very attentive and friendly If you are having dinner or lunch I recommend reservations because dining room is small
Quiet place to have a drink and down some 1 dollar oysters. I didnt ask for a menu, but I did see some great food here , for example, a plate of Shepherds Pie caught my eye.
Maegan made this place a five star with her Irish accent and sweet personality. The food was ok but very well presented. Every one was very nice but Maegan stood out. No matter how much I bothered her, she was just extremely sweet. The place is very small but charming. Enjoy
Visited today, had the best time, Megan the bartender is the best person ever, gonna come back again 4 surrr, best espresso martini in all of New York!!!
I love how they have buck a shuck oysters. Rare to find a place that has good oysters (with pretty much no limit on how many you can get) but the rest of the menu is great as well. I will definitely be back :)
Came in here to kill a little time in between waiting for my hotel room drinks were okay not the best espresso Martini was a little bit weak and kind of tasted weird beers obviously were good and they had happy hour chicken tacos that were absolutely delicious.
Like the atmosphere and decoration. If you around, I would recommend to stop by during the happy hours.
Happy hour starts at 11am here! Beat that! 😆I like the grilled octopus and burger was decent.Jane doe ale is ok just a little flat. But I like this place it’s not rowdy. Will recommend!
Great food, good drinks, not the best service.
Had brunch at Jane Doe before my Matinee show and Service for me was great but the food was just ok, my steak came out well done instead of medium, and also my poached egg look dry, my friend enjoyed the chicken waffles and Ofcourse the happy hour oyster was great. The oysters are my fave.
Best bartender in NYC - LAURA! Came in for my birthday and she made it memorable and super fun. Added bonus - she’s Irish. Had a blast - thanks Laura!Laura https://g.co/kgs/9QQDuC
The food and drinks were amazing, loved the ambiance.
Our first time visiting Jane Doe restaurant and bar , we had an amazing time , the place is very clean and beautifully decorated , the staff is amazing Louise made our reservation ,Marie was our waitress and Gigi maitre d they all all so welcomingThe food was very tasty , highly recommended i will definitely will come back .Thank you very much to everyone at the restaurant you guys are awesome AAA+++
This seems like a popular place for after-work gatherings. We got the Jane Doe amber ale and the $1 oysters. It came out to less than $20 a person which was surprisingly really nice. Will be coming back in the future.
Our new favourite bar in Manhattan. Friendly people & lovely staff that made us feel so welcome. The decor is modern & slick & prices are not expensive. We had some snacks at the bar which were delicious.
Nicely decorated interior but quality of cocktails was not good. I tried their seasonal new fashion which was bourbon based but it tasted very diluted. Bartender also didnt know what a mint julep was. Bartenders were nice but must have accidentally overcharged or double charged one of our drinks. It seems like a good place to host corporate/private parties as there were 2 separate parties going on. They have happy hour but Malbec I ordered tasted very cheap.
Be cautious of this place if you are a foreigner! They treated us with utter disrespect and as if they are doing us a favour allowing us to dine there. When we first arrived the one waitress simply looked at us and walked away. Later on we heard one of the waitresses mutter to her colleagues about how they need to work with French people, knowing that they don’t tip. They profile you based on the country you are from and then decide how they would like to serve you. When we went to them to complain and ask a question, the one waiter laughed at us while the other told us to get out of the way she is trying to work. Completely disgusted by their behavior! If you are a foreigner I would suggest you stay away!
Its a bar with a dining room. Nice..seating a bit close...food was good as was service. Went with a pulsed certificate and was accommodated as a full paying guest. Careful waitstaff may automatically add 20% or better to your bill for tip.So just be aware.
The most delightful bartender, Laura, kept us entertained while attentively keeping everyone served. All done with a smile. Convenient place to go prior to the theaters.
Nice bar in new york!
I went here with a few friends for drinks and dinner and we really enjoyed our time here. We had lychee martinis and there were so yummy and well made. I also had the short ribs and mash potatoes the short ribs melted in my mouth and they were so good. Overall we had a great time and the waiter was so nice and super polite. I would go again and recommend
This place is really nice. The staff had excellent manners. Although I just picked up the order, the bartender was very nice at keeping me updated on when the order will be ready. The place itself is very cozy. Very beautiful decorations as well.
Came a few days after Christmas and sat at the bar. Cute decor but my espresso martini was flavorless and diluted. My partner got a double-shot of Disaronno, neat. After his first sip he taps me with a “babe, try this”. It was completely watered down. If you drink disaronno, you know it has a warm kick going down. No warmth here. We then started to inspect the bottles on the display shelf and thought many looked suspiciously pale. Prices are already on the higher end - definitely not worth the value if drinks are also watered down.
$1 oysters.Close to everything.Meagan told me to tell yall she is the best host in NYC, but she changed her mind and said, best in all of North America.Who am I to disagree.
11am-7pm happy hour with 5$ draft beer and 1$ oystersParmesan fries are great, I wouldnt take the onion rings they feel grocery store-like
Hole in the wall spot but don’t underestimate this place. Unbelievable cocktails but even more amazing food. The staff here isn’t messing around. Will be back and honestly is my top choice restaurant for midtown area ♥️
An incredible place. Beautiful place and people, fantastic food and drinks! Robbie knew the exact right music to play and every moment of the night and made great conversation. Love love love this bar!
Great place to drink and eat. Shoutout to Reza. He had such a great service. Definitely have to come back!
First time visit. Venue is smaller than pictured. I had chicken breast with a STRONG lychee martini. Husband had short rib with Heineken. Just a lil too much salt on meats for us but overall enjoyed. All that was missing was dessert.
The oysters! Perfect spot for oysters and a drink.
Great vibes service
In town for a few days at a hotel a few steps away, this place is welcoming and casual yet fun and lively. Laura at the bar makes one feel right at home.
First time here, but I loved it! Ill be back for sure. Staff was super nice and thats VERY important to me. I only have SO much money! Haha not looking to give it to rude people...amiright?!
Reza is the man … come for happy hoursYou will be happy forever 🥰🥰🥰🥰
A gem of a bar/restaurant!! We were just walking around and stumbled upon this place. In love. I wish I could try everything on their menu. They also have happy hour from 11-7pm.
This is a cute spot to grab a drink and an appetizer! (Great Christmas decor!!🎄❤️) The cocktails were good and the best find was the $1 oysters - they were delicious! Definitely wish this place had an entry way to keep the cold air from coming in - it was quite chilly with folks going in and out all evening.
This place is easy to miss but it’s a pretty good place for the middle of NYC. The food is generally OK, not great. However, I would go again!I got the Cajun steak special as I went during happy hour. It was described to come with green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy, but I got mashed potatoes with fries, which is fine, but should be noted. I asked for the steak cooked medium rare, but it came out closer to medium. On the bright side, this place has some excellent deals. The margarita flatbread was large and came at only 8 dollars during this time, and the 1 dollar oysters are possibly the best deal you can find anywhere. They’re not going to be Kumamoto or blue points, but they are decently-sized and I didn’t have any side effects from a whole big plate of them. There was some hiccups with the server bringing out more sliders than we had ordered and the oysters at the end of everything else, but it was generally handled very professionally in the favor of the customer.Overall, I would go again if I’m in the area again, keeping in mind the happy hour specials and especially the 1-dollar oysters which is definitely the best deal they have there.
One of the bartender who dark skin was so rude a few days ago and n being rude to other customers if you see him don’t stay he might gives you attitude but sides the rest of the staff is amazing
I ordered the mash potatoes & braised short ribs. It was delicious and such a comfort food. Definitely recommended. This restaurant opened in December 2021, so it is pretty brand new.
Great food and a fun atmosphere! We had the short ribs and the Guinness stew special, both were really good. Id highly recommend this place!
Great happy hour! Good variety of choices on the bar food menu
A must have Happy Hour, this Local GEM was awesome. Will visit next time Im in town. Best priced Happy Hr Oysters
Marie was fantastic! Great spot for good drinks and good eats! The oysters were our favorite
Delicious food and wonderful service! The oysters were amazing and took advantage of the $1 oyster promo!
The drinks were very watered down. Barely felt like an alcoholic beverage. The food was not great but passable.
Fair prices, food was great.
Bartender was awesome!
Bar that opens after midnight. Nice Guinness draft.
The beer was very good and the staff very kind. Caroline was so nice we had to come back again before we left NYC.The place might look empty from the outside during low hours but totally worth pushing the door open and sitting at the bar.
Fun time, good selection and 7$ mixers. Great bartender, nice guy with a sense of humor. Made a couple quick friends.
Great happy hour. Bartender was crushing it as the crowds rolled in.
Found a cute little bar while visiting NYC. Marie was very sweet and served us delicious food and drinks. I had the Baja tacos and my partner had the nachos! Loved the vibes, and the music selection was nice and appropriate. We will be coming back whenever we come to visit again.
The place has a very interesting vibe and atmosphere. It looks pretty interesting and cozy while its not that big. The only downside of it is that it gets way too loud that if you are trying to have a conversation its nearly impossible. Also even if you are at a table the sitting might get very tight as well. The food was great, as the service is a whole other story. I do understand that they were pretty busy, still some things should not have been forgotten when asked for by a customer. And I guess what bothered the most is since the tables are pretty small when you bring a new dish dont just pile it on, grab the empty ones.
Not very spacious but still good for grabbing a drink quickly in midtown afternoon, especially when the nearby shops are closed
Great location a block from our theater, and impressive happy hour deals on beer and wine. Our cocktails were really bad, though--sweet and low quality ingredients, and unrecognizable as the classic drink I ordered. Get a beer instead.
Awesome food and staff. Honeslty just stumbled upon this restaurant. Glad I did. Ill def return.
The lady bartender was very rude and disrespectful to me! Made me and my friend very uncomfortable. Will never go back there again!!
Not super stellar food, you can expect what you’ll get. Good drink menu
Nice place good food and drinks
Nothing too special about the food or atmosphere here. My fish was overly salty for my preference and the fries were soggy and mostly broken bits. The lobster mac was shared by the table and we all agreed a stronger cheesy taste would have been better although it was creamy and the lobster was good. Not sure Id visit again.
John the bartender saved my life once
Beautiful Bar, the food was absolutely delicious 😋...my children loved the Mac and cheese. Very friendly staff and great service.
Great food, service and staff. Very clean too !
Went there for drinks.
Best pub/bar in NYC . Walk in and sit down and welcomed with open arms. Jane Doe Ale is beautiful and goes down nicely. Laura is friendly and takes the time of day to have a aul chat! Would recommend and definitely go back!! Also only place in the city (that I seen ) that has beer mats!
Jane Doe is awesome- the atmosphere is amazing. And the bartender, Rakeen is so sweet! He is super attentive, always takes time to speak with you and make you smile. And he always remembers my drink! Thanks rakeen!
A nice place for a drink or light meal! Its just a block away from Bryant Park, too.
Delicious food, courteous staff, really nice ambience!
Megan was amazing! Very accommodating
We popped into Jane Doe,s for a few beers on our visit to the big apple.Staff were very freindly, drink very reasonably priced and food was great! all in a very nice place would highly recommend it.Thanks to the staff for making our visit amazing!
Laura the bartender is an absolute legend, Jane Doe is my favourite spot in the city. So close to grand central and such a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
After visiting the Empire State Building last Thursday, 10 August 2023, with our nearly 16-year old grandson, we got caught in a drenching downpour. Soaked thorough our raincoats, we saw a signboard on the corner for an Irish Pub. Not finding it, we ducked into Jane Doe and it was the Irish Pub! What a delightful interlude for us. Leo (grandson) noted it as one of his three favorite dining experiences in NYC during our six days with him. Liam took our wet raincoats, and initiated a memorable experience for us. Grandpa and Grandma took advantage of the happy hour wine and beer choices, and Leo refueled with the grilled chicken sandwich, choosing the salad rather than fries. Leo’s food looked amazing. We all had refills on our beverage of choice. I’d been to Ireland, and shared experiences with Liam. Another friendly woman visited our table at least two times. A NYC experience or (pick a place) is often about the ambience of the place, how do the people interacting with you, relate with you. Jane Doe, especially the staff, met all our needs. It had stopped raining when we left. What a great first day in NYC.
Decent service - especially for how crowded they were. Very friendly and good food.
First time in……..Great atmosphere. Megan was awesome!
Stopped by for small happy hour. Great spot if you actually want to get some conversations in.
Had a great time. Megan was great!
Amazing Happy Hour deals and abundant seating spaces... Kudos to Juan, our server! Nicest person Ive came across during my NYC visit...
The food was enjoyable and there was a nice variety of dishes on the menu (including oysters!). They take reservations but we were able to walk in and get seated quickly. The server was attentive despite the fact that she was the only server around. Good atmosphere!
Guinness Stella Artois
Good bar for a quick bite and drink.
Great oysters and margaritas!
Great happy hour and good service
Go see Robby at this spot. Great drinks & food looked good too.
Its a small bar with a small dining area. The food is a notch above pub food and prices are fair. Service is very slow. There is not enough staff during lunch hour. Okay to stop in off hours but if you are on the clock, its not recommended
Walked in and was barely acknowledged. Sat at our table for 15 minutes and wasnt even offered a water or menu. One of the bartenders/ waiters walked by us 3 times and not once did he give us any attention. We visited John Doe Bar a couple of days before and had a great experience.
Amazing friendly attentive bartenders, (can only speak to the bar)
Wonderful service, clean and well organized bar.
Lovely food and service. Drink menu for fall not so much. Otherwise loves it for our pulsd deal
You may get a chair and drink and then they tell you that someone else just booked your place. We arrived, sat at the bar, got drinks. All stools at the bar were occupied. Two minutes later staff told us that someone booked the area and we have to give them our space. We had nowhere to sit. We tried to stand in the only available area which was on the stairs and the staff said Why are you standing here! We had nowhere to move so we left.
Weve been here twice during our weekend visit as its close to our hotel and lovely! Would be a 5 star review if not for the bartender more interested in talking to her friends than paying attention to her customers. Utensils for my snack please lady! Napkin for my friend. Hello??
Came here with a friend for a late night drink and snacks. The gin & tonic was a bit sweet for my taste, but the truffle fries were great. The waitress who helped us was attentive and kind, and reassured us that we could keep the table for as long as we wanted even after table service (and her shift) ended. I like how the seating area is like a sunken conversation pit. It feels pretty cozy.
Great neighborhood bar. Friendly staff and nice customers.
Friendly local bar and restaurant with excellent food and terrific service!
Good prices, good wine pours. Small and nice.
Hidden gem!!!Marie is wonderful!Food is incredible!
I love this bar!!!
Such an awesome spot! Nice and intimate with great food!
Good beer and food. Tiny little place out of the way. Clean.
Jane Doe was surprisingly delectable. ✨ Everything we ordered was delicious. Our server Marie was so helpful and her suggestions were amazing. How she raved about the food sold us! I had the carbonara with chicken. It was the most savory pasta I’ve ever had.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and drinks!
Amazing gem of a bar in the middle of some more upscale places. Fantastic food and welcoming bar. A true rough amongst diamonds.
Did not eat anything but the ambiance was great and so were the cocktails.
Second visit to your establishment in the space of a week. This time.. VeryBusy... butfrankly felt very second class. Sad because I think with a small bit of attention could have been a completely different experience, and I left a good tip first time round!
Fantastic little restaurant. The staff was incredible... Very friendly and hospitable. Really good happy hour deals for drinks and food. Our food that we ordered from the main menu was great! We ordered the Jane Doe burger and the salmon. Food came quickly and was beautifully presented. Most importantly it tasted great! Our waitress Jasmine was fantastic ... probably one of the best weve had in NYC! Would definitely recommend stopping by!
Great place for drinks and decent food.
We had an amazing time. Marie tookCare of us. She had amazing suggestions and her selections were literally perfection. She provided amazing service and the foodLived up to our expectations. 10/10 would definitely recommend. We purchased on the pulsd app and Marie made Sure we madeThe best selections for our circumstance. Download pulsd and head over!
What a lovely vibe! $1 oysters all day everyday! The manager came over towards the end and introduced herself. She was so welcoming. The bartender we had was very nice and even though she’s pregnant, she moved fast! Nice place! I’d def return!
The oysters are the best Ive ever had!!!! And the best price!!!
Cool, chill vibe. Live music and great prices. Roibeàd our bartender was super kind and provided us with great recommendations and even better hospitality!
Love this place. Great staff. Megan is just the best. Will definitely be back x
I was really looking forward to a dinner at the restaurant -- My friend liked it when he went last year & he has great taste. The space was MUCH smaller than I expected & needed waaaaaay more ventilation. My pasta was overcooked. Staff was very nice, however.
Happy hour until 7pm on Saturday night was a BIG win!
Very warm and friendly. Cracking service. Brilliant
Meg and Rakeen best bartenders ever
Very good oysters
Brilliant lovely staff,great buzz
Cool cozy bar with quick service. We went late after 10 pm and it was still full and had good energy.Got some bar food and couple of drinks and met some folks at the bar. Had a friendly crowd hanging around.
Good ambience and vibes. Great drinks and even better staff. However, for whatever reason any time I consume any of their beef products I get sick. 1st, steak sandwich. 2nd sliders. Everything else I get is pretty decent. I stick to the wings and truffle fries. Also the patrons are cool. Always good convo at the bar.
Very nice location a get together or drink. The entire staff is incredible.
Jasmine was the best! Very helpful with her suggestions❣️ Food, ambiance were fantastic❣️The tacos were really good and the slider delish… last but not least the brownie for dessert. Yum❣️❣️❣️
(12/19/2021) Robbie & Jamie took great care of us on more than one occasion this past weekend!! Robbie the epitome of the Western Irishman was always available for a quick chat or recommendation, while Jamie was looking forward to having teatime! We enjoyed Ferrari Carrano Chard by the glass (a wonderful surprise) and simply relaxed in a great space all the while reminiscing about our day in Manhattan. We highly recommend Jane Doe for if not for the great food options and drinks, but for the characters behind the bar! Thanks Robbie and thank you Jamie for making our visit just that much more enjoyable and memorable!
Poor absent management. Good luck to the bartender in finding another job where people are seen and respected (especially paying customers).
Says theyre open til 4. Just went there and refused service.
Ive passed this bar for months and wanted to go in but hadnt had the time. Finally a friend, my husband, and I decided to check it out and Im so glad we did!! Robbie was an absolutely fantastic bartender, and the rest of the wait staff were so enjoyable (I believe their names were Caroline and Brianna, but Im so sorry I dont remember!) The drinks were great, the food was delicious, and the environment was exactly what I had been hoping for! We will be back!
The atmosphere and beer was great. Nice crowd and even nicer barkeeper. Definitely recommend this place for a drink. Jamie has been a wonderful host.No idea about food.
Nice happy hour with a decent selection included in the happy hour. Cute little building with a nice vibe from the decor.
Good place to go.
Great service, delicious meals and drinks were 🫶. Cant wait to come back. The Empire Empress was my favorite 🍸
Nice atmosphere, great bartender. Really good time.
Great Happy Hour specials with attentive staff made for a great pre show dinner.
Good food and drinks. Friendly staff. Pretty ambiance. Id go again.
Relaxed atmosphere with great happy hours!
A good place for oysters all day, drinks and other fun food.
Found this amazing place by accident, Im not from NY, but we came here everyday the week we visited. Staff is amazing, super friendly, clean, great happy hour, not too loud, great music, I mean it was my favorite bar while visiting NY. Amina, Robbie, and Roaquin are my absolute favorite.
In a neighborhood of very few neighbors, this establishment creates an instant (and enduring) rapport with its often transient customers. Many thanks to Caroline, Donna and Fiona for the sincerest hospitality!
Great place with nice ambiance and friendly staff.
Great spot, food was phenomenal, we were in the area and I looked up on Pulsd what was una the area. Didn’t know Irish food could taste so good will definitely be back. Oh and the Jane Doe version of Moscow mule is my new favorite. I had the half chicken with mashed and string beans, wife had the salmon with mashed and carrots, we both cleaned our plates clean. The wife had the Lychee martini extra sweet and she has a new favorite drink as well. You would never think that the food at this place would be so scrumptious, it’s a bar in the front with a great restaurant in the back.
Great place to have a drink and some food!
Great bar not too far from the action but excellent prices and staff
The service was great and they offered complimentary drinks for having to wait longer for my reservation.
We had a private work event here. They were great. Food was good and plentiful. Bar staff was on the ball.
Owner very nice and good food… nice drinks nice decor for holidays and in general. Just opened and new. Enjoyable to be there
Excellent vibes. Great place to strike up conversations. Robbie is an EXCELLENT bartender. Highly recommend.
Food amazing drinks so so, but ambiance is great
Awesome food, great customer service. People are kind friendly. And the food is amazing
Prices are good but todays burger was the worse, just make sure to get what you order
Great bar, awesome food, but the staff make it a great place to go and eat and drink
Newer bar in Midtown- classy, warm, beautiful with great drinks and awesome staff. You can tell the owner took great pride in all the beautiful details of this bar!
Classy bar with fabulous food & great service. The best food & Guinness in NYC!
One of the finest pubs East of all points West. Bar staff is fun, food is delicious, and it was a damn good time. Sláinte!
I had a nice time seeing my friends here.
