Stopped in to get away from the weekend crowds and found a great place to have a meal and drinks. A lot of restaurants tend to seat diners in the same area but this place actually kept the different parties as far apart as possible. They let us enjoy our drinks and meal and didn’t rush us out of there. It was wonderful way to decompress. Food was delicious and the staff was attentive.
The fajitas are good! This restaurant is really a 3.5 in my opinion because the prices reflect the tourist/Broadway show crowd of the area. It’s fun though and good for large groups. There is also Latin dancing on Thursdays and weekends.
Excellent place for some appetizers and drinks when out late in NYC. The restaurant has the usual Mexican fare and the prices arent bad at all for the area. They make a good guacamole and an even better mojito. Service was good and they even have a dance club area upstairs if you like that sort of thing.
Recently ate here prior to seeing a show at Studio 54.I was impressed by the food - flavorful and prepared to perfection.Staff was polite and professional.I recommend this place. I will be back
Call them to make your reservation first. Good service for a Friday night. A lot of empty tables on this Friday night but a nice atmosphere. The food was good. We started with Chips and Salsa which was $8. I ordered the Chicken fajita which was good. My son had the chicken quesadilla and the portions were small. Good service and a nice atmosphere. $120 for 3 of us to eat. Nice place to visit at least once.
The food was acceptable. I definitely felt the food wasnt on par with high prices of the dishes. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The music was ok. 2 levels for dancing. The DJs were soso. 04/20/19
The place is amazing, and the DJ was so good ,he took song requests and put a lot of good music from bachata, merengue, to salsa. The dance floor is huge,so if you want to dance this is the place to do so.
This is a great spot for dancing, and some drinks that are not margaritas because their margaritas are not the best, not flavor, watered down, too much mix. I would not recommend anyone to go here for food, the food was super bland, no seasoning, and not flavorful at all. We had the enchiladas and it tasted very bad. Also had the fried Ice cream that was NOT at all fried, just covered in the cornflakes not fried and it tasted bad also just regular icecream, false advertising. I paid for the 3 course meal and I would not recommend it. But the whole atmosphere is great, music was good, the staff is very nice, attentive, and courteous ! Pre-game before coming here and eat for sure before coming here.
The appetizers and drinks were okay. The atmosphere was dead. The place is spiraling down. So sorry because they have potential.
Good food and buss staff alway clearing plates and refilling drinks. The waiter service was a little slow. The mariachi band was a nice added bonus.
I was suprised to see some interesting things on this menu. I ordered chorizo taquitos and chalupitas stuffed with shrimp and crabmeat. As you can see taquitos and chalupitas look exactly the same. This place is rated $$ but if u ask me it is $$$. Every appetizer was $15 on average and each entree $25. The shrimp and crabmeat chalupitas were good. And so were the chorizo taquitos. Served HOT and flavorful. The restaurant is large and can be a bit noisy but to me all that means is that people are enjoying themselves. 😉
Fun, loud place for large groups. Two dance floors & Mariachis during dinner. It was a blast for our Holiday Dinner!!!
Food and drinks were delicious. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great drinks, strong and flavorful. Food was great too, happy hour specials are plentiful and tasty. Will definitely return.
A most pleasant Tex-Mex place around the corner from the Ed Sullivan theatre. Great happy hour. Amazing margaritas. Mexican beer on tap. Good a/c.
Shady business practices, horrible food, horrendous service! Tourists beware! They were empty for dinner service but we blamed it on being the 4th of July. Despite no other diners except 3 women at the bar we had virtually no service. My daughter drank all 3 of our waters before we could find someone to refill and I had to hunt someone down for the ticket. My steak on my quesadilla tasted funny but I blamed the sour cream until I smelled it. Praying I don’t get sick! Daughter changed $29 for bean and rice burrito. $22 20% automatic gratuity on the ticket we didn’t catch and then the final copy asked for gratuity. It was already ran on our card so I’m going to dispute our credit card. To top it off my husband didn’t get his credit card back so we had to hunt someone down a THIRD TIME.
We use to go here in the early 2000s cause they always played really great music. It was a millennial dream to go back and dance to some of the hip hop and dance hall that was popular at that time. We had a lot of fun; we haven’t danced like that in ages! Highly recommend
Food was perfectly cook, i love that they make you the guacamole right there in front of you. Jose luis our server was awesome, excellent service. Food took a little longer than expected. The only bad thing was going upstairs they wanted to charge us 20 for each person after spending almost $800 Dlrs . Then they wanted us to spend $50 dlrs or more for each person upstairs. Dj his music and mixes horrible . But the food and the service in the restaurant awesome!! I will definitely come back!!
Good place good food and 2 rooms for night club, you cannot wear sneakers you wont be allowed in. I didnt go in but next I will
The food and service are both very good. They also have salsa dance classes and bar with DJ on the other floor which is cool.
5-stars for Vince Giordano. Iguana is VERY, VERY cool. One of the most visually awesome bars, physically, Ive ever seen. Service is pretty bad, to be honest. Dont expect to be waited on hand and foot. However, we really love the food and the atmosphere. Drinks are on-point too according to my wife. If youre there you have to get margaritas! But, theyre not for me. Scotch guy ;).If youre going for Vince, well youve made a hell-of-a choice. His band NEVER disappoints. They are absolutely incredible. Big-band tunes from the 20s, 30s, and 40s. They are worth every penny and this is their home. GO SEE THEM. Mondays and Tuesdays right here at the Iguana.
My food was delicious however Ive been here over an hour and a half.. the last 30 minutes sitting here waiting for my check because no one is around. It took a hot minute to actually get somebody to come take my order but then the food came out fast. They arent busy.. theres two other tables besides me.. theres no excuse
The place was average it has a nice interior for this time of the season, the service was good the bartender was paying so much attention to us maybe bc we are not regulars so she focuses more in the group of people, I had to make eye contact so she should know I was ready for food or for a drink, she made good margaritas for my friend and the negra modelo on tap was good, we got steak quesadillas the came fast and they were good, I’ll come back again maybe the service can be improved a little bit more but good place.
I love this place. The food is ok and depends on the day it gets super crowded. Great place to dance and have a good time. If you go to the bar upstairs, Florentino the bartender will take care of you. It’s sad to know they will be closing in May 2024, since the owners sold the building last month 😥
Lovely restaurant, nice decor, delicious food and great service. The basement level is a lounge or club of some sort. It looks like a lot of fun.Well definitely be back!
The service with the staff is acceptable but the food is lousy without presentation or flavor, a michelada beer with tabasco sauce is horrible sadly the food was a disappointment
I liked the place. It had great ambience and the food tasted great and the waitresses were fun.
I loved every movement of being in the restaurant. Music excites you. Staff are warm and friendly. Bartender is very knowledgeable of drinks. I wanted strong but sweet and thats what I got. There is a club atmosphere down stairs. The BEST part is the waiter in the back. Oscar and (I forget at the moment). But their services makes you feel like eating with friends and family. Wonderful place.
Iguana makes one of the best Guacamole. The prices is affordable base on the location of the restaurant. However the food servings are small portions. Some of the workers needs to learn how to be pleasant especially the waitress. Other than that the food was great.
The atmosphere, drinks, and dance lounge upstairs was amazing, but unfortunately the food was not the best. Very overpriced and bland. The only thing we truly enjoyed was the guacamole and the margaritas. They were delicious. Service itself was great and our waiter was so sweet and really made the experience turn around despite the poor food. He deserved 5 stars. Overall would definitely come back to dance and get drinks, but would probably grab food before hand somewhere else
Wonderful experience. Staff was so nice and friendly. Excellent service. Food was amazing!
A local recommended this place for Latin dancing, and it was a great time. Great music, great dancers, and very welcoming people. Edit: Been back 3 different years! Love this place at night!
We went to see MJ at The Neil Simon Theater. Brown said the wings were good, Robinson had the calamari and chicken sandwich w fries. The calamari was rubbery, and grilled chicken was hard and dry. My nachos were horrible, the beef was mushy- no seasoning. I didnt understand how you can have Happy Hour drinks and not food. I wont be going back. Now the drinks he made was good.
There are much better options in the area. My daughter and I dropped by this place a couple of weeks ago for dinner. The service was below average. Food quality was about average. But the price was much too high for the quality of the food. To top it all off, these people add a 3% processing fee to your bill. Since there were only two people in our party, Im assuming this is added to all bills. Dont bother trying this place out. Youre likely to be underwhelmed.
Some of the best food Ive ever had, great location, wonderful salsa and loved the chips! Love the fact theres also a dance club attached to the restaurant.
It was a delicious experience and my Coco Mojito was amazing. Coconut Shrimp with the Slaw perfect Combination
Food and drinks were great. Service was excellent.
Everything from service to, food was outstanding. The coconut flan and the fried ice cream are a must try.
Interesting wavy bar layout at the entrance with nice fully opening windows and doors allowing fresh air in warmer weather. Good beer and cocktail selection including brosmopolitan
Food was great. Drinks were good. Service started off very well but quickly trailed off a few minutes after we sat down. The first round of drinks came very quickly - within a few minutes. But....then we waited and waited. Nobody came back to take our order, another round of drinks, fill up water, etc.35 minutes after sitting down and about 10 minutes after Id finished my drink, we had to wave the waiter over to order our mains. We ordered and then when food came, wanted drinks 5 minutes before happy hour ended. However, the waiter told us it was too late...we looked at the time but he just walked away.We didnt see the waiter again until we got up to pay because the waiter was MIA.We were there for more than 1.5 hours and it was very quiet. There were about 3 or 4 other tables. We got no water refills the entire time and nobody checked on us after the food arrived. The place is great, the food is fantastic, the staff is friendly - when they remember you exist. They started off as 5 stars because the service was so good to begin with. Sadly it didnt continue.Great food but dont think Ill be back any time soon.
Excellent atmosphere, food and service! Will definitely go back again!
Pretty fun, a bit high price to pay for a dance floor and extra for item checks. Need some circulating air upstairs. Security should usher the creepy staring guys somewhere else, like to the bar downstairs.
Good environment. We went to celebrate birthday party and I enjoyed the layout and the concepts the bars and dancing areas. Good music and a good time. That said, I find that the food is insanely over priced for someone who likes value for their money I dont think Ill come back for the food. This may also have been an isolated incident but out party was there until closing time up until they were still selling drinks but when closing time came the security guard was pushing all the patrons to finish their drinks so that he could go home. That was kind of a bummer but I wouldnt judge this place by the actions of the one security guard.
We stopped in to get some food before we headed to the Neil Simon Theater to see MJ. They had happy hour drinks but not food that I dont understand at all. The food wasnt great - the nachos werent good, grilled chicken was dry and hard, calamari was rubbery, but the wings were said to be good. Now, the mango margaritas he made was on point.
One of the best thing in a Restaurant is a Customer service. This place has the best waiter (José Luis) in town from whom we received friendly and respectful service, with full knowledge of the menu, he made us feel comfortable and our trip. I recommend this place and especially the service and attention of José Luis.
Amazing food and drink from start to finish! Great atmosphere and music, and friendly staff too. Their Mojitos are some of the best Ive have. The salsa with chips while you wait if so fresh and tasty. We had the burrito and the half chicken and both were cooked to perfection (the chicken is cooked fresh so will take a while.....maybe not one to order if you are in a rush)
Terrible experience for a Saturday night. Spent $150 on mediocre food and drinks. Decided to go to the other 2 floors for dancing and music. Floors were empty at 12am, they wanted to charge $20 even though we just spent $150 there. The manager Carlos is RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL. He said $150 is nothing and we need to pay a $20 cover to enter the not lively “club.” He would not allow us in. I would NOT recommended this place. Food, drinks, management and vibe is WACK and TERRIBLE.
This is a hidden Gem on 54th. The food is fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is great (especially if youre coming late enough for the dance club) and the drinks are generous. Carlos and Juan manage this place and you couldnt have two better guys to take care of you. Do yourself a favor and order the guacamole so it can be prepared fresh table-side for you! We visit here every time we are in Manhattan and love it every time.
On 1/14/23 I took my niece here for her 18th birthday. The food wasn’t bad good drinks but horrible service. I feel that the woman (waitress) that was standing by our table was very rude. The crowd we came in with she happened to be staring at one of our guest and it wasn’t until I caught her eyes and she felt me staring at her is when she changed her direction. No one came to our table until a gentleman approached her and what seemed to be him asking about our table she began to shake her head. I don’t appreciate how uncomfortable she made us feel and for that I will never go there again. We don’t appreciate the judgement we’re in 2023 there’s no reason a person from the LGBTQ community should feel uncomfortable or discriminated anywhere they go or be refused service, if that is the case remove yourself and respect the customer not stare them down.
Nice place.. nice vibe. Really liked the holiday decor and the holiday atmosphere. The restaurant was brimming with happy faces when we dined Friday evening.A wide range of cocktails to choose from - really enjoyed their cocktails.Food was average. Not too great. The quantity of food servings were very less. For the cost they charge us, they can certainly give more quantities. We explored both the nightclubs at around 10. Not any vibe as such. Hardly a handful of people - Just a few people dancing to themselves. May be it gets better later in the night.
Honestly worst dining experience I’ve ever had in nyc. Made a reservation two weeks ago for cinco de Mayo and ended up having to wait over 20 mins to sit. We then waited another 45 mins for our waiter to even take our drink order and he refused to take our dinner orders at the same time. Then after we got our first round of drinks it took an hour for our waiter to return and take our dinner order. This whole “experience” took over 3 hours and we ended up leaving when our food got to our table because it was absolutely ridiculous. Do not recommend, save your money!
Please get people with a better attitude. Melisa, who was a bartender, needed to get fired as soon as possible. Her service is one of the worst I have got in this life. She doesn’t know how to serve as a customer service person. Her rudeness is one of the worst I have seen. I asked for a drink and served everyone, even my friend, and left me out. I didn’t get served after all. I ended up talking to the owner of the place. To me, she is really rude and she ignores customers when they’re speaking to her. I have been here before and have never experienced anything like this major before. I don’t know if I will be back !!
Update: My 2019 experiences werent as great, unfortunately - I decided to organize a few events there, and while management was nice, they were disorganized+ -- their a/c broke 2 days before our event in July, wasnt fixed, and they didnt solve the problem or tell us ahead of time?!? Another time, we negotiated for a dance instructor and DJ -- the DJ didnt show, and the dance lesson started an hour late. Also, the food became flavorless. Its convenient, ok for tourists - great atmosphere, but the rest... meh. 2018 5 stars => 2019 & 2020 3 stars======2018I came with a group of 15 people, and we loved the free dance lesson (Carmen, the instructor was great, and shes adorable). Of course, we also enjoyed the happy hour, appetizers, and the dancing afterwards. A great evening, whether early or late!
Service was on point ✨️ we split a chicken quesadilla and it was absolutely perfect. Hubby had the house wine which was decilious and i had a mixed drink from their menu. Would deff recommend and we will be back.
Good attention, professional and courteous, amazing dance areas, actually 2 different floors with different experiences, love this place, the bar area is my favorite, ask for Miriam she will go that extra mile to make you feel welcome.
We were thankful that they accommodated us before they officially opened, but we had to wait too long for our food. I wish they’d given us a heads up on how long it will take so we could’ve chosen to go somewhere else. The food was just ok. It’s decent but overpriced. Their chicken tacos costs $29! Won’t be back here.
Went there for dinner and salsa on a Friday night. The food was pretty good, the service was phenomenal. However, the music upstairs (where is supposed to be Latin mix of salsa, bachata music and other) was so loud it hurt to be on the dance floor. Also the choice of music wasn’t good for dancing and there were only few people on the dance floor. It was also impossible to talk, due to loud music.I recommend it for food, but not for salsa.
I went here for a birthday party. We were down in the lower level. The drinks were good. The restaurant says is has a dress code but it wasnt really enforced. They have a coat check. $3/item. $15 cover charge after 9pm. Id probably go again. For dancing and drinks, their food menu looked too overpriced.
We stopped by for a quick comfortable drink and the bar was good. The bartender was awesome. Cheers Carlitos - Muchas gracias mi amigo
I LOVE THIS PLACE!Never had a bad item here to date. They make the guacamole in front of you, right from the avocado...lol. The staff is friendly, the wings are great & THE FROZEN COCONUT & MANGO MARGARITA???? 🙌 Divine & not light on the alco! Good value for money.
Although we thought this restaurant was accommodating, we were severely disappointed with the service and the environment. First off , they were incredibly inconsiderate of our vegetarian accommodations. They made it super complicated to order vegetarian dishes & gave us run around answers about why they were able to accommodate our party and stated “our dishes are pre-made so we can’t change it.” We ended up ordering appetizers and left. Our drinks arrived as we were paying the check. We were a party of 8 and they were unable to cater to our needs. Very dissappiointed.
Had a reservation only to be told on arrival they only accommodate a group of more than 16 by setting them up in two different tables and not combining. Felt they could have but perhaps our groups’ color made them unwilling? Why did they not tell us at the time of the reservation for 18 people this vital information? The place was not packed for a Friday night...Had to constantly flag them down to take drink orders (I don’t drink but my colleagues were not happy). It felt like we were a chore for them even though our bill was about $1250. Do not recommend the avocado fries 5 pieces of avocado (basically 1 avocado) deep fried for $15?! I ordered fish tacos and there were pieces of other meat in it. I am a pescatarian so I was very unhappy with this. None of our party will be returning. Needed to write this review for myself to note never to return.
I had an awful experience at this place. First of all, staff is super unprofessional, the drinks are overpriced and you have to ask for prices because is not in the menu which could be anything the bartender want to say ($18-$20 dollars for a tiny cup full of ice that looks like children birthday cup), the security is not well trained as he approached me and my girlfriend asking her for her ID twice and when we asked why he is checking again (he already did it when we went upstairs to the second floor) he stayed quite and did not give us a response. When my girlfriend asked again, he still not responding until she asked to speak to the manager and he send her to the bathroom, really!! When we got to talk to the manager he said to us that he confused her for someone else from couple of days before!! really! you do not see this kind of event in a quality service spot. the bartender was super rude as I didnt order drink for myself (I dont drink) but only for my girl hoping we were going to consume and spend money. In conclusion, I highly recommend not going to this place if you want a quality service and you know what quality is for your money as security is unprofessional, drink are overpriced and manager doesnt know how to handle complaints and service customers. This is a SCAM! when it come for your money, you better go to a 5 start hotel bar or rooftop for drinks and music and still not reach the prices of this place. Unbelievable, never again....
The food was excellent! Steak was cooked to perfection (medium) in my enchilada & was abundant. The sides were great and the street corn was delicious. Drinks were good, a little on the stronger side. Staff was very friendly & helpful.
Music was good (bachata, salsa reggaeton). Good crowd, staff was friendly and helpful.Would definitely go again.
Recently stopped by on a Sunday and it was empty which was great, all staff were wearing masks & they had hand sanitizer available as well... Only had a few drinks so cant speak to the food however Sunshine was an awesome bartender. Its been so long since Ive sat somewhere for a few drinks & it was nice to feel comfortable & safe enough to do so...
Drinks are a little overpriced. Bartenders sometimes doesnt get your order correct. Security at the door can be very rude. Had a good time at the upstairs club. 20.00 fee is okay compare to what other places charge.
They charge $20 for each dance floor access. Cash only, even if its super late at night and dead inside their dance spaces. Could never be me paying for that smh!
Ive been to the dance floor. Most of the time the music is good. The floor needs a lot of improvement. It is worn and uneven in some areas wich creates difficulties and even danger for dancers. That issue also reduce the dance area as dancers try to avoid those spots.
Came here to check out the music floor. We were told to go upstairs and as we went up the guy there told us it was 20$ per person (we were all girls) so prior to going we checked and their website said ladies were free that day apparently but he denied it. We showed himAnd he insisted we had to pay with such careless attitude. We went back downstairs and someone else’s approached us so we told him what just happened and he said you can go downstairs for free. Apparently the low level had a hip hop dance/music room. We went to check it out and it was horrible. Absolutely the worst! We left. Never coming back! If you want to charge that’s fine but don’t lie on your website about it.
The waiter was so nice. But he brought me a plate of cold food and a drink that didnt taste very well. I was confused. The restaurant was in the upscale theater district. But the toilets didnt flush properly in the ladies bathroom.
Good food and good environment. But I REALLY feel they were rushing us so much to eat. They brought the birthday cake only 3 minutes after we started eating the main meal. As soon as as they remove the plates they got me the check right away like its time to go while there were some many empty tables. I dont like that.
Drinks are delicious! I hadMargaritas, a variety of flavors. Passion fruit was the best. Guacamole was delicious! Latin dance floor is a lot of fun. The other dance floor is fun too, not as busy. So that can be good or bad depending on your preference. Didnt try any other foods. Was there for the dancing
Delicious, quick, comfy, atmospheric, and very kind staff. Right across from our hotel, was worth the price. The portions are generous with deliciously perfectly cooked steak. Thanks for a great time! Juan was wonderful and timely
Perhaps they were just low staffed the night we went, so maybe thats something to keep in mind as you read my review, but heres my experience with the service: it took a very long time for a waiter to come to us. Several of us had to repeat our order several times before the waiter understood it. After a very long time, our food and drinks finally came out, and several of them were wrong. He seemed kind of irritated at us, and then laughed at the request to split checks..The food was good with the exception of the pastel from the appetizer menu. Most of it was greens! The quesadilla mexicana was a big yes for us though. They have a long list of flavors that you can get in a mojito or margarita. I got a green apple mojito but I have to say I didnt really taste much of the apple.
Food was great. However, if I could, Id give them 0.5 stars. It took the service 20 minutes to set our table as we watched them set empty tables around us. The waiter finally came out after 40 minutes and tried taking our orders without letting us look at the menu. Then multiple servers returned several times to take our orders over and over again. Claimed they were just checking. Took them an hour to fulfill a drink order after the waiter took it twice. Continuously gave my friend the wrong Salad... just appalling. We came to the conclusion the waiter must have been drunk, on pills, something. This place isnt cheap and its upsetting. Maybe theyre used to a drunk crowd who wouldnt pay this service any mind. Ridiculous. No excuse.
The service was terrible! I LOVE margaritas but couldn’t even drink these 11.00 monstrosities. Basically I paid 95.00 for a horrible experience! I paid and left without even getting my dessert. This place is also very biased, some customers who came in after us were treated way better and also got their food quicker then ours. Don’t come here, it’s over priced, has bad service, and is biased to people.
The food was delicious, and the dance floors were very nicely protected which I liked. The food can be some what pricey but the portions are fair. If it is only two people I would recommend the Iguana Nachos and a main dish if you want to leave space for alcoholic beverages. Trust me the food portions are fair to make you full.
Was at a private office Christmas party. The food was cold, otherwise it may have been good. The appetizers were better than the food. We used the house dj and he got better as the night wore on. Even so, I had a great time. Dont let external things affect your fun. You make your own party wherever you are!
Superb Fiesta atmosphere every visit. Wonderful food, great fun servers, excellent, honest drinks and mariachis. The bar, too, is superb. The very best, fun, too noisy Mexican in mid-town and maybe the world. Super table-side prepared guacamole to your taste and mountainous nachos, too.
I am a very big fan of the decor. The artwork on the walls is very nice, and the ambiance is magnificent. Personally I found the lighting a bit dark; then again, Im very used to much brighter lighting at work and home. The drinks are also delicious, especially their Whiskey Sours (which is one of my preferred drinks of choice). I didnt have a chance to sample their food, but I cant imagine anyone could go there and not be dissatisfied, especially if theyre in the mood for Mexican. Im also a big fan of the location; its close to several subways, as well as Times Square. I can meet a few friends for dinner and drinks here, then head downtown to take in the sights.
Great friendly service. Mojitos are one of the best Ive had in NYC. Food is on point, but overpriced for the portions you get.
Great experience we had to wait a little bit for the table even though we made a reservation but it all worked out .the food was good !the appetizers were amazing. We all went to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday they had mariachi that song happy birthday for her...and upstairs in the restaurant they had a nightclub which was also really good Great place to have some fun... at all times we felt very safe. Definitely recommend the spot all in one food, drinks and dancing.
I visited Iguana today, 10/07/20, and I am truly not impressed. The service in this place is fantastic. The waiters are great, but the increase in price for what used to cost $16, now they are charging $26 for a standard taco. This is outrageous. They are working on what appears to be a modified menu, but I truly left unsatisfied. Also, I was only a party of 2 and they have never charged a 20% tip, I have visited this place numerous times in the past, but after this experience, I will not be returning. It’s sad because it was my favorite midtown Mexican place.
While I have been here years ago, I went last night with a large party and to say I had a negative experience would have been a vast understatement. Servers were slow to take drink orders, and even slower to deliver; requested the bill be split up, told okay only to not only have it be for the full table but to be charged for items never received even though they were ordered, to be double charged for items as well. and when dealing with the management having the worst customer service experience. They were arrogant, rude, neglected to address the concerns or issues being addressed to them, and did nothing to alleviate the situation. Based on the service and treatment I will not be recommending nor returning to this location.
Omg wow!! I just absolutely loved this place the food is delicious and fresh. The atmosphere and decor is beautiful. The prices are a bit high, but it is expected in that neck of the woods. Definitely worth a pretty penny. The club is also great, the music and crowd is fun and pumped. After dinner we danced all night! Definitely a place I would visit again.
Absolutely great food, drinks and ambiance. We had the nachos and quesadillas, and drinks plus flan and sorbet. Loved it.
I go here for Salsa dancing on Thursdays when they have the La Clave event organized by Joel Salsa. The dancing takes place upstairs, sometimes they have live bands. I really like the atmosphere, its like a club but with two decent sized dance floors and a long bar connecting both. The bartenders are attentive, prices are what they are in midtown, its not cheap. The crowd for salsa is really all ages and very welcoming. You can sit by the bar and watch the great dancers or take a class in the beginning if you are new to salsa.
Food: The food was amazing. The portions are large and there was so much food leftover. Their drinks are definitely worth checking out.Service: Very quick. We went in thinking that our wait would be well over 30 mins but they were able to squeeze us in within 5 minutes.Cost: Very reasonableWould I go back: Absolutely.
I normally don’t like to comment because I’ve never felt like I had too, but in this instance I did especially as a visitor. The food here wasn’t too good and the service was worse. We walked in, got seated, and were asked what we wanted to drink. It was 20-25min after we ordered our drinks we got them and between that wait time we had ordered our food. We walked in along side another couple, got seated about the same time, and got our food 40min later and to top it off my chicken and shrimp were cold. FIND ANOTHER PLACE especially if you have an experienced Latin palate.
I work upstairs, in the adjacent building so its great to stop by for a quick bite before work or a refreshing cocktail after Ive completed my days tasks. The music and guest service are great and I love it in here!PS. Get the wings! Theyre great!
My favorite place to go for Mexican food and salsa dancing. Always ordering fresh guacamole. yummy!!!! The cook preparing it right in front of our table!! The drinks are amazing! Margarita’s choice on every choice and mood!, love it! Trying to make it after Broadway shows with friends!! Highly recommend.
Service was great, drinks were strong (that’s a plus for me!), but food was average for the price. You’re paying for the ambiance and location more than anything.
Went at 10:30 am, Sat, was the only one there and ordered the breakfast burrito... Wow awesome. I great server, friendly hostess and terrific bar tender. I rate it five stars because I wanted-for-not during and after my meal.
I attended Iguana for a Google event. I did enjoy the setup and layout. Im gluten sensitive so I didnt get to try much of the food. However, the first floor seemed nice and classy for a great dinner for business or personal dates. The second floor where the event took place was nicely spaced out. You had a back area where there was a live band and a standing room or dance floor in front of it.Near the staircase, there was a spacious area for those who just wanted to mellow out and chat.I would like to revisit this place and have dinner with friends on the first floor. The staff was courteous and I would like to revisit. The Google+ event gets a +1 for me! I got to meet a few new folks, play around in the photo booth, and watch the live band play. Overall, it was a nice night.Insider tip, for those who are google+ fanatics like me, go ahead and turn on party mode at the event you RSVP. It automatically uplaods photos you take into your Google+ events page. Win win for all! Go Google+! This is a more interpersonal approach than Yelp. Its a smart way to have folks visit areas across NYC, bring local businesses some foot traffic, and have everyone use Google+ for social and business.
It was ok. the DJ didnt have good transitions going into new songs. The crab cakes were a total rip off! $18 for 2 thin silver dollar sized crab cakes and a spoonful of corn salsa! And there werent anything to rave about. The atmosphere is good after it starting getting busy.
Went their the other night to celebrate my birthday and the staff was very nice and accommodating to my small group and I. The food was delicious and fresh and the drinks are HARD!! The mango mojito was so delicious and the passionfruit frozen margarita almost put my friend to sleep it hit her so hard lol. The only reason I gave it four stars is because after we spent almost $500 on dinner and cake cutting fees. They wanted us to pay for the upstairs dance area $20 per person. When before the pandemic it was free. Ummmm no!
Simply aweful.... Food is awful and beans tase canned... Not real Mexican or even TexMex.. just a bad impersonation. Cocktails watery. Chips salty. Salsa also poor.
Ridiculous dinner for New year eve. We wanted to buy a bottle of wine, and they didn’t have the wine list. A restaurant that doesn’t have a wine list is... 😂. To buy a bottle of champagne and to know the price at least 2 different people came to tell us the price, one saying the price thinking about it, and another with a drink menu that “ it wasn’t updated”. We found all of this very ridiculous. You want to change or increase the price for the event go ahead, but please, please have the new menu for the night. Food overall wasn’t the best. I don’t blame this to workers, but with the management. You are one of the most famous Spanish restaurant/ club in manhattan and this is your customer service? Not even a wine/ drink menu? We should order without knowing the prices? Very smart...Party upstairs was fun, but not that many people as we expected. Coat checks prices are not cheap $6 for a coat and $3 for an umbrella 😂Happy new year to everyone!
Made a reservation through the Google listing with Open Table. Arrived at said time and the host looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. Waited in the bar for only five mins before being seated though. Drink orders where taken but forgotten. The manager stopped by to ask about our drinks and brought them immediatley. Drinks were large and strong. Food arrived quickly thereafter. The Guacamole was made fresh at our table. The stacked steak enchiladas were fantastic as were the beef burritos. Half way through the meal the manager came back with two more drinks on the house. Needless to say, we were stuffed. Great lively atmosphere with a Mariachi band. Pricing is $$ to $$$.
I want to put negative stars!!Tried to have a good time celebrating my friends birthday. Bouncers were incredibly rude to my brother telling us he was wasted. He was our SOBER driver.. please explain to me how that makes any sense???The place is run by rude people who think they have the power to do whatever they want. We had 10 people with us. You lost a lot of money tonight.. for not letting a SOBER person in!!!!!
So, I came here for my bday last year. I had dinner first with my friends, which was average, but overpriced. The margaritas were bomb though. And the waiters were friendly and attentive, so extra star for that.Afterwards, we went downstairs to party. Theres a cover, which would be okay, if the place wasnt so small. Plus, the crowd is weird and they kind of gawk at you all night. So, not too fun. It wasnt all bad, since I was drunk. But, I dont think Ill be back.
I never leave bad reviews but my experience here was so bad that I had to. My boyfriend and I went here for new years eve and it was a huge rip off to the point of being a scam. The tickets cost $35 each plus a >$6 fee just to enter (purchased in advance). The coat check was $6 per each item, and they counted each item separately (coat, hat, sweater, small bag, umbrella, change of shoes etc) and they didnt allow you to put anything in your coat sleeves or hang coats together and forced you to check every single item on you. Considering many couples on a rainy new years in NYC walk around with coats, hats, scarves, purses, umbrellas etc this can easily result in a $40+ cost just at coat check. The menu prices were extremely inflated for NYE, with the by far cheapest item on the snack menu (a few corn chips in artificial cheese sauce) costing $14. A small single order of guacamole cost $18. Even worse, there was no seating unless you purchased a ridiculously expensive bottle, so we were forced to eat our extremely overpriced and unimpressive corn chips standing up, and the lack of seating resulted in discomfort and sore feet after a while. The music was not great and it was far too loud for any conversation, and the dancing was not good. Other patrons were sloppily drunk as early as 10 pm and would bump into us as we danced, and there were multiple drinks spilled on the dance floor and broken glass. The overall attitude of everyone working there was simply to rob you of as much money as possible rather than actually ensuring you enjoyed yourself after spending astronomical amounts of money (there was even an employee in the bathroom asking for tips for handing you a paper towel!). As soon as we arrived we couldnt wait to leave. I regret ever coming to this place and will never return, and I strongly advise against anyone going.
Great atmosphere, waiters and waitresses always ready to help n accommodate you for anything and theres a mariachi band playing while you eat. There are also dancing floors upstairs and downstairs depending on the day so theres everything for everyone.
As I was waiting by the hostess stand to be seated, she went around me to speak to the white people behind me. When I interrupted to not that I was waiting first and arrived prior to them, she got frazzled and walked off. I had to wait for another staff member who observed the interaction to be serviced.
No desire to visit this place again😒. Smells ... of smoke and grass👀 ... Three times a waiter approached in a rather empty hall ..
Attended a dance social here alone so I was nervous , the staff are very welcoming. The crowd was extremely friendly, there was a cover of $10 after 7pm . I definitely enjoyed the class , great way to meet new people and learn new Dance skills .
Awesome spot for a good time! Always fun people & good bartenders at your service!!
Went here pre-pandemic and had a great experience. Back in NYC for the first time since, I decided to return to Iguana. It was as good as I remembered. I had the sangria margarita, Mexican quesadilla and an out of this world citrus flan. I will definitely return here again!
Was terribly disrespected by the staff!!....The bouncers thought it was best to kick me and my friends out instead of a woman whom jacked my seat twice and threw a drink in my face! When trying to video tape the situation, one of the bouncers attempted to grab my phone and break it in my hand, with such strong force, that I now feel I need to go get my hand checked out from a doctor!! I have enjoyed this venue in the past but will unfortunately “NEVER” return and will discourage anyone I know to stay away from this venue!!!
Although our service started out fine , it became increasingly slow as time went on. We had to flag someone down at the end just so we could pay and get out of there. There were a lot of large parties so it may work out best for those situations. Food, drinks and price were all fine just really bad service.
Highlight of my trip. the people are nice and the place itself is very pretty. the food was amazing iv never finished my food as fast as i did here. the food also came quick and they weren’t that busy. 100% recommend
Had a great salad -Avocado Relleno. Shrimp were done perfectly. Good flavor! My husband loved his corn chowder. Great service.
The bartender charged me 76 dollars for 4 margaritas with 10 oz plastic cup & house tequila, I was like for real? I understand it’s the city but I can get better drinks & service for that price.. ladies & gentleman think twice before you go there, besides the food it’s okay nothing special.
It was ok...the food downstairs its not bad but if youre going there to dance (upstairs) dont waste your time. The music was ok, the place is very small you can barely dance they charge you for the table so you cant sit and the workers are definitely very unprofessionals rude . Definitely not going there again and trust me if youre coming to New York there are way better spots here.
The service here isnt excellent, but I was there on Cinco de Mayo so they might have been super busy. Theres lots of great Mexican cuisine and drinks. They have a dance floor underneath and a separate room upstairs, so its very spacious. Theres lots of dancing and lots of different stuff going on cause there are so many different parts of the restaurant. A fun place to go to, but lots of loud music.
I really wish i could give this place negative 5 stars . I come into the bar sit next to strangers, end up talking to them because you know . New york friendly people, by the time i ask for my bill, the bartender hits me with a 233 dollar bill, when i only had one drink . Do you know this man puts my drink on a tab with strangers i just meet today, only spoken to for maybe 30 min. (profiling 101)!!! I know you’re probably reading this saying oh thats an easy fix , have him redo the checks over . No this man refused ! Even called the police, because he said we are refusing to pay. No sir im refusing to have my tab on theirs (the larger the bill the larger the tip which is my other theory as to why he didn’t wanna split it up,! Lol but the police end up being on our side ! He said there was no manager present, he wasnt able to void or redo or split any checks . If you work in the industry you know its a code your manager could have easily passed to you. At the end , we did our own math and paid the bill. He said we came up short again.Little sneaky self try to tuck the money we gave him for the bill! No gratuityWas given for his disgusting customer service ! My brown people DO NOT GO HERE !!!!!
Cool spot to dance after a decent dinner. The music is split into two sections: basement and upstairs (2nd floor). The second floor is usually Latin music and the basement is American style hip-hop/r&b. The recent I don’t think this place deserves more than 3 stars is because (1) they treat the different floors as separate entities, and (2) there is a broken pipe smell in the basement floor that will not allow you to breathe in the middle of your dance.
Drinks are top dollar. Music is a little too loud. Place could be cleaner. But what really matters. Music is good. The vive is good. Top floor costs extra. Coat check is in basement.
Best Mojito I had in a long time. Great service outside and out of the sun, thanks Carlo. Food was good and plentiful. Went for lunch before seeing play at Studio 54 (50 feet down the block) and will definitely return.
The sound system isnt bad. The DJ on Saturday night was terrible, they switched music every 30 seconds without any transitions. Didnt try the food but everyone seem to be enjoying there meals.
Went here with a group of 6 lastnight and it was horrible. We did the 35$ 3 course meal menue option and everything was wrong. I asked for a strawberry margarita and they brought me out a regular one, I asked the waiter very nicely for a new one and he brings me out the SAME ONE just with strawberry mix on top of it. Are you KIDDING ME?!?!?! My friend asked for no beans, of course her burrito came out with beans, We ordered nachos and they never came out with them. 110$ a couple. Not worth it at all.
Thieves. Avoid this place like the plague! One star because its the lowest I can give.Went here for dinner on 7/19/17. Dinner was fine, service was slow, but not a big deal. Got home to find the credit card was charged twice. Called and spoke to the hostess, who took my information and said the manager would call back.He didnt.Called back a few days later with a Capital One representative. Hostess said we had to speak with a manager and transferred us.He hung up on us!We tried again and he sent us straight to voicemail!Filed a dispute through Capital One. Obviously will never return.
Iguanas is great! I went here for the first time for an event last week. The service was really nice. Its important to have good costumer service but whats even more important is the food! You cant have great costumer service and terrible food. That is NOT the case at Iguana. Their food was great! Especially the quesadillas! They were mouth watering! Just thinking about them makes me want a plate! The restaurant was also really clean which is a plus! It is very spacious as well. The event I went to was upstairs. I really enjoyed my experience here and would go back again!
The food and drinks were pretty good overall! I got the burritos, which were yummy! Not the best I’ve ever get had but pretty good. I also got the strawberry margarita which was frozen plain margarita mix with strawberry drink mix surrounding it. Not exactly what I had in mind but still good. My table got the guacamole to share and the chicken taquitos, which were probably the best parts. Service started out great but then got very slow. We waited at least half an hour for our waiter to come back to get our entree order and even then we had to flag him down. The restaurant was not busy whatsoever—there were only three tables seated when we wanted to order our entrees. Even after flagging him down, our waiter barely came to check on us. Finally, the restaurant was doing free professional pictures that they’d put on a postcard. That’s fine and fun, but the photographer kept asking to take so many different pictures that it was disruptive. Group shots, group shots in different poses, individuals, standing up group shots—it was really just too much for a dinner experience.
Im not Quite sure I will describe this as a Mexican restaurant. Its more like a Tex- Mex meal option. They do have open bar I believe for 2 hours, not a bad deal. We came on a bday celebration, the service was definitely amazing, they always made sure we had everything that we needed. They have some sort of singers that walk around the tables trying to sing for you. A good place to finish the night after dinner you can go on the 1st floor or second floor and have the night club experience. Not a good place for young kids they ID at the door. A good Place to hang out with friends.
Ridiculous policy, they wont let you in the place with open toe shoes. Absurd! I saw a woman who was allowed to access the bar, leaving the club with open toe shoe. Bouncer would not give an explanation as to why my shoes were not acceptable. They turned down 5 paying customers so we found a better bar.
Visiting from Ohio. Great friendly atmosphere. Food and service top notch. Actually left our credit card at bar and Carlos walked it over to our hotel. Went above and beyond!!! Thank you so much.
Margarita flavors are delicious and creative! You could stay all day trying new flavors! Bartenders and staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Great place to stop for drinks and a few bites to eat. Stays true to the name iguana
Love this place. I go every year for my birthday. Top & lower floors of dancing, reggae, hip hop, R & B music lower level. Upper level all Spanish music main floor is a restaurant.
The night life is terrible experience and Im beyond disgusted with the managers response regarding I must get checked 3 times within the same building. If you purchase a drink on any of the floors they will ask you to discard when you walk to a different floor. The manager of the restaurant stated that if Im asked to check my jacket and handbag in separate floor I must do so. No wonder their music and service sucks!!! This is why they have a 3 star rating on yelp. I will never attend here again.
Omg! Where to begin... The food is BEYOND DELICIOUS 🤤🤤🤤 I wish this place was on LI because I would eat here all the time. The service was fantastic. The drinks were on point and again the food was sooooo good. Guacamole made FRESH at your table and made to your liking. There’s even a club downstairs and a nice size bar. Seriously a great place to go for great food and dancing. Will DEFINITELY be returning.
Both food and staff at this restaurant are average. Food wasn’t super flavorful and portions were small… didn’t seem like we were getting our money’s worth. Staff were also indifferent to guests and not super friendly.
Always a good time. The place is loud so forget about answering your phone. Fresh guacamole at your table and 29 flavors of Margarita, what else could you want? The food is great. Love the coconut shrimp and the chalupitas.
Love the decor. Food is delicious. Great place for dancing, 2 floors. Really enjoyed the music and vibe of Iguanas. Friendly staff. We visited 3 times while in NY.
I had a great time here for the DISCO LIVES! party on a Wednesday night. This is a very unique place for NYC as it is BIG. The people were so nice, the drinks were strong, the bartenders were quick and the guac was amazing. The whole vibe of the place was just fun.
Very disappointed. They were focused on letting people in but awful service.Making us wait for our order more than an hour. The lady at the bar was super rude even said that she wont get us the food we ordered.I used to come all the time with my friends, not anymore!
Decent Mexican food. Very small portions for the price. 5 of us ended up spending $250 and didn’t leave full while only having 1-2 drinks per person. Fresh guacamole was tasty though.
If you like more up to date music like whats on la mega this is not the place for you. Its for people who have taken Salsa classes and want to practice and its a place thats catered more for caucasian people . If your Hispanic/ latinx and looking for a place to dance and hear good music stay away. It was a waste of money and great disappointment.
Music and the drinks are good, food is ok. Service could be better specially when there are few people dining in cause to me it seemed they were in a rush to close earlier.
Fantastic food, drinks, service and ambiance. What more can you say. We eat here on the fist night as it was the nearest restaurant to our hotel and turned out to be the best in the area that we tried. Big choice of food and drinks with some twists on the standard Mexican cuisine. Definitely recommend the Margarita Iguana drink :)
The DJ on Fridays sucks big time. He played only romantic salsa which is really boring to dance. He didn´t let the songs play enough before going to the next and the transitions were abrupt. The music selection was also really bad.
Bday dinner . Food was not tasty at all. My party of 5 were all disappointed . Fake Mexican restaurant !! I dont mind splurging if the food is good however if the food is gross $30+ is a crime .
Came here late night after my bday party one Friday night in early September and it was a perfect place to close out the festivities. Drinks were overflowing and downstairs there was a dancefloor for those who wanted to keep going. I think nachos were involved and those hit the spot too. Look forward to going back soon.
Great time meeting with my best friend.
This is a good spot for dancing a on weekend nights. The top floor has Latin music and the bottom floor has top 40/hip hop type music. The cover isnt to much and there usually isnt a line.
The food was great, the staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the pre/post theater pre fix menu which included taquitos, an entree, and a dessert. I chose the medium rate steak fajitas which were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was very knowledgeable in what flavors of margherita would pair with our choice in entree. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who likes good food, good drinks, and great atmosphere.
This was my first time going to a bar without my designated bar buddy and damn did I need her. $17 for a martini. I know its new york, but still my wallet cried a bit.Anyways, it has a nice Latin dance club upstairs. It wasnt my cup of tea.
The service, food, and atmosphere here is abysmal. Our server refused to come to our table even after we asked other employees to get her. We had to go directly to the bar to get refills even though only 5 tables were seated in the entire restaurant. Food was overpriced, poor quality (wilted greens in salads), uninventively flavorless, and not worth anyones time or money.
We went to hear Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. They NEVER disappoint. They were really wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food and service were, too. We will definitely go back. For Vince AND the food.
Great downstairs bar & dance floor for after work happy hours. We followed the dress code, but very few others did (lots of jeans), so I think theyre pretty flexible with it.
$20 CASH ONLY cover fee for an empty “upstairs club”. Everyone there was extremely rude and impatient, go at your own discretion.
Partially great food nice room decoration. Prices are quite high. Look for special menus. The Margaritas are great... One of the few NY places that is still what was for years.....
I only had some apps at the bar and some drinks...decent price and service. Went downstairs to do a little dancing, the crowd was great...no issues, everyone having a good time doing their thing. Coat check was a joke...$3 per item (had to pay for my umbrella separately...really?) Other than that waste, a great night all around 💃🍸
I attended a birthday party. The food was good. The bartender was hospitable. I really had a great time
The atmosphere is excellent for any occasion, the margaritas are the best part, be prepared to go to bed early after a few margaritas.
I’m highly disappointed with the service that this restaurant provides. It feels as if they’re rushing you to eat and don’t allow you to take your time. The staff members are rude as well. They insinuate that you’re going to pay the “service fee” along with paying the bill.. The waitress I had came back with my bill in her hand and said “you’re not going to pay the service fee?” The food is great but the service is trash.
Horrible!!!! I had friends visiting from Texas and New Jersey, we asked at the door if they had R&B and reggae. We were told Yes, latin music is downstairs. We went in, chose to go down and was there for an hour and a half with not one song of R&B or reggae. When we inquired, the Manager was called for us. The Hispanic Gentleman came to the entrance and saw me waiting but never came over. Instead held a conversation with his friends for 20 mins. I recommended this place to several friends but i will inform everyone not to attend.
Food was OK ... very small selection. AMD the club upstairs is OK music selection but if you want bottle service they have no where to put you and people pretty much throw drinks at the tables all night so be prepared to get wet. Dont waste your money.
If i can give a 0 to this place i will. Food was great but the way my table was treated by the Manager Andres was disrespectful. The person think he’s the owner of the restaurant because i asked for his manager information for the way i was treated by him and he didn’t want to provide with anything. Came to celebrate my bday here but it was DISAPPOINTED.
Has a club downstairs which is fun but if you show up earlier bring an Aux cause no DJ till later
Ive been here on a few occasions: after-work happy hour, lunch, marg-ups and dinner. Its decent, but I feel like its a bit more expensive than I would like. But, I do LOVE their mojitos, which they serve with actual sugar cane!
I love this place. Great food. Nice environment.
This place was amazing!!! Great service, tasty food and drinks 👌multi level with music and full restaurant. One of theyre bartenders is famous on Instagram 😱😱😱 Went here for New Years... 12/10. Will surely be back 🙏👏
Went with friends who ate and drank. I just ordered a drink but it never came. When the person delivered some of the food I said I never got my drink and asked for the waiter. Still no drink and no waiter. No waiter for 40 minutes.
Every thing that our server suggeste we loved it! He has really respectful and considered 👍🏻 we love our time and definitely we will be back
Margaritas were great however the service was awful, seating host never mentioned the second floor bar as an option and our server didnt come back to our table to refill water or take more drink orders. I had to get up from my table to tell our server we needed the check.
This restaurant was right across from our hotel during a little vacation in New York. The food seemed authentic, but Im not the right person to judge that! The guacamole was made tableside and was delicious. I ordered chicken soft tacos and my husband had the red snapper. Both were absolutely delicious. I had two Iguana Lean drinks (only 75 calories each!) and they were strong but very good - I was glad I just had to walk across the street to my hotel! My husband had two Brosmopolitans, and he really enjoyed those too. If we are in that part of New York again, we will go back there again. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We were there fairly early for dinner considering it was a Saturday. Im sure it gets much more lively as I believe theres a club upstairs.
I have only given a couple of Five stars. This place had good to more then good food. The drinks were correct and full of what you pay for while maintaining a great taste. The service was spot on, being attentive to the changes to the table while not being annoying. This would have deserved four stars, but the extra attention given by the staff pushed them over. Come for a good meal, bring people you want impress, bring families, bring a romantic prospect. Great place. Worth it.
Food has changed over the years. The nachos and chicken quesadilla. It was ok but not as good as when first started going. Bartender is always friendly
Service was exceptionally awesome. My first visit to this location. Ive been to several others Woodland and San Jose CA but this location was my favorite. Coincidentally our server was from the bay area. We had a fantastic brunch!
Great place to dance the night away 2nd floor was crowed for the latin music so we stayed the whole night in the lower level. It was awesome. Too bad we missed church the next day.
Originally I thought this place was good until I went there on Sunday because they said they had drink specials from 7pm to 9pm. Real false advertising as there were no drink specials ($17 for a drink smaller than my hand). Really bad business!
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! They overcharged me for one of the dishes my wife and I ordered. They then attempted to charge me a cover charge to get into their upstairs dance floor despite it clearly stating on the bottom of the receipt and in their restaurant menu NO COVER WHILE DINING FOR GENTS. The person upstairs told us that it wasnt food that we purchased but was instead a drink......FOR $35?? The line item even says Open Kitchen. It wasnt until my wife told the person in Spanish that it was food that we purchased and not a drink that she then honored what the bottom of the receipt clearly states. I suspect that the reason for this entire issue is because Im not Hispanic and my wife doesnt look Hispanic but little did they know.So in short, check your receipt and dont let them get away with pulling the shade over your eyes!
Loved it restaurant on one floor club on the next. We had a great time.
Went -- at last minute -- to TxGvg dinner (really lunch at 2pm).Had a phenomenal experience all around: the restaurant is tastefully and completely decorated for CMas; waiters are attentive and entertaining (kids saw maguc tricks and got great light sticks); AND food was abundant and great. We ended up taking lots of turkey and pie to-go!We will go back for sure.
Crowd of mixed age group. The music on both floors was goof enough to get you moving. Drinks a bit over priced, but I am used to Jersey prices. Lol, overall fun experience.
My go to Happy Hour, dinner AND DANCING SPOT! I legit walk from work with my friends!Always amazing- delicious food, 29 flavors of mojitos/caparinhas/magaritas, unpretentious staff/establishment, NEVER PAID COVER CHARGE IN 7+ YEARS IF ATTENDANCE.Chill guys-no rudeness/grabbing. HAD MY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION LAST NIGHT! THE BEST TIME! GET OVER THERE!
The food and drinks were dissapointing. I went before the theatre and I was so disgusted with my cocktail. I ordered quesadillas with beef and they were horrendous. The food tasted stale and the meat was not of good quality after a few bites I could not eat anymore. The coffee was tepid and weak. The service was relatively good. The waitress noticed that I did not eat the food and compt. the food. Skip the Iguana!
This bar offers coat service which really means it is a requirement to check in your coat. When we went to get our coats, the person covering the coat service ripped and destroyed one of the coats that was owned to a member of our group. The person working the coat service tonight admitted to damaging the coat. The general manager of the night paid the owner of the coat a mere $20 and therefore claimed he now owned the damaged coat and refused to give it back, leaving the owner of the coat to walk out in this freezing, unforgiving cold night. When asked why he did not want to give it back, he basically said he now owned the damaged coat and would not give it back. He then said we needed to talk to the owner of the establishment if we wanted it back however when asked to speak to this owner, the general manager said the owner was not there and that there was not a way to communicate with him 🙄. Overall the interaction was very disrespectful and I would not recommend supporting this establishment based on the lack of respect, value and consideration to the consumers of this establishment. If I could I would give ZERO stars.
The head chef there is amazing, his food is amazing , overall place is amazing. Youll love it when you go. Good costumer service too! Everything is just amazing
I enjoyed this restaurant. The menu has all the Mexican staples. The ambiance of this location is very nice. There is also an upstairs which turns into a dance area which was fun.
These place is great to dance ! I had a great time But I order a margarita and the liquor on it was horrible . I will recommend it but order something else thats not a margarita .
Went on a Monday to see the “Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks” performance (they perform on mondays and tuesdays). What an incredible experience. This kind of concert and specially with this high quality is harder and harder to find. The concert is on a small room, Vince Giordano is a real showman and the band is incredible. A must go if you like jazz from the 20s and 30s. The food is good, delicious margaritas and service is ok.
The Iguana: Had to practically ask permission to seat myself at the table farthest from entrance. Sat for approximately 5 minutes before server manages to stumble over. Thought I was talking to a cowboy street performer before he handed me a menu. Absolutely stunned by the service of a place that serves you a champagne breakfast. Potatoes/home fries whatever way you would like to identify the starchy mess that was placed next to my runny eggs. I have never had such poor service at my favorite city. I cannot believe I had to ask twice for both a glass of water and for the check. Free up a time slot of 1.5 hours if you want to sit down and have a quick breakfast. Servers have absolutely no knowledge of the busy avenue that they commute and work on. I advise you to stay away from the deplorable iguana.
The food here is excellent and the service is outstanding. I would recommend this place. I had their chili and it was the best restaurant cho I have ever had. The salsa was very good as well.
Went here for lunch for lunch with colleagues : 7 of us in total. Service at Iguana was friendly and very competent, with all our orders coming out nearly at the same time and all correctly executed. The food was decent, though for the price (lunch deal at $15 for an appetiser and main dish) and the location (near to Times Square) its a find. I had the chicken salad, and while the ingrédients were fresh, the grilled, sliced chicken was dry.The fajita platters were hefty, sizzling and smelled delicious.Very Tex-Mex, heavy on the cheese and fried foods.Advantage is that the restaurant interior is spacious, so tables are not crowded. Id go again with a group, though not for the food.
The upstairs area can be rented for parties and events. It includes a bar, stage and dance floor. I attended an event here last week. Food was good, but Id say average Mexican.
Well, Ive always been treated with respect, and have fun.I like dancing. Like everything else in life, sometimes better than others, Id say...generally... its a fun place.
I went to see Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. Theres nothing else like this great band anywhere else. Iguanas second floor is the perfect place to see this band. Food and service at the Iguana is really good and prices are reasonable for Midtown. Great night of 1930s style jazz.
Fun night
The drinks were pretty good, but for a place known for the Latin drinks, they didnt seem to have it down. The flavors came out different than what was ordered (my friends came back entirely incorrect once and she had to reorder it - turned out one of the workers didnt know how to make the drinks). And the second mojito I ordered came out without sugar cane. They claimed to be out of them, although my friend who ordered a drink about 10 minutes after me had a sugar cane in his drink. Humph. Things were just too chaotic here for me to be spending this much on my drinks. Next time I want a margarita or a mojito, Ill definitely be going elsewhere.
The waiter never asked us beforehand if our party of 5 wanted to split the bill or all together. So when he brought the bill and we requested to split it 5 ways, they refused flat out saying it is a rule in NYC that THE PARTY needs to let the waiter know to split the bill. The waiter will not say anything. The service and manners of the waiter, the cook and the bartender here were horrible. Not even management was able to show up , when requested, to help and provide a valid reason why they couldnt split a simple bill. NYC is packed with tourists from all over the world and you cant expect everyone to know your restaurant rules. It is THE RESTAURANTS responsibility to let their guests know of any rules.
Very good cocktails and Mexican foodOur advice: go to the bar. The bartender is really perfect and you get to see Sports on screen while drinking and eating delicious stuff.
Food was amazing and fresh.. love it
Me and my wife had a great time here. The food was delicious and the dance floor upstairs was great. Definitely coming back!!
I came here at 3am, the bouncer asked to pay the cover no biggie. After i get charged he tells me i must check in my coat. Im only coming for a drink and to be at the bar. I told him no so he refused my entry. So i went downstairs and they id me and pat me down again I asked for my cover back and they said no. I will never come here again WORST SERVICE EVER!
Very good ambiance, good drinks. Recommendable to go with friends, co-workers and or for a date when you have free latin dance classes.
Excellent place to go out for some afterhours dancing, drinks and latin music. Had fun having several tequila shooters and drinks as well as lots of dancing on the club level.
