I’m forever grateful that Gu Japanese was able to accommodate this year’s holiday dinner for more than 30 of my colleagues. The service, prix-fixe menu, and food was amazing - my colleagues had nothing but great things to say the entire night. We also loved the atmosphere and privacy we were given. Easily a 10/10. Thanks so much again and happy holidays!

Random but good. Sushi, bao and crispy appetizers with great drinks is all that is required for a night out in the city. And the prices were affordable, making it worth the time. Portions are generous, so be careful about ordering too much. Would definitely recommend for a feel of what’s available in the city

I was having such a great time here that I forgot to take pictures. They have happy hours from 3pm-10pm, I believe every day. Beers for $4.5. Cocktails for $7. Appetizers were delish. Especially the fried rice one. We also order sushi and sashimi.

Nice inside. Food was ok. I didn’t care for the king lobster roll or the ufo roll. The diamond sushi tray was very good. All of those melted in your mouth. Tuna tartar was good. Miso sea bass was just ok. Made reservations but probably wasn’t necessary on a week night.

Pretty good option for cheap sushi in New York. They have really good drink deals until 10pm too which is great (beers are $4 and cocktails are half off). I thought that the tempura and toro were good, but did not really like the rolls I tried. The fish itself was good but pieces were small. Also I would not recommend the yellowtail jalapeño. Most of the rolls were about $5-$8. The service was excellent and they refilled our water cups/got us new drinks very quickly, so my compliments to the staff. Overall a good option for sushi!

First came here on a Saturday for a birthday lunch. My friend had to go into the office nearby on a Saturday. She wanted Japanese, I searched online and found this restaurant, it was close to her office and had a reservation available for 1PM on a Saturday.The food was so good that I devour some of them before remembering to take pictures. So of course I had to go back again a few days later with another friend to try more of the menu.So far my absolute favorite is the fried soft shell crab. It was lightly battered and super crunchy, best of all the fried soft shell crabs I’ve had so far. Highly recommend this dish if you like seafood. The second time I went to this restaurant, I made my friend place a separate order because I didn’t want to share any of the 3 pieces that came with my order.The Peking Duck buns were delicious as well. There weren’t a lot of fatty duck skin, which I liked. Perfect amount of sauce so you can still taste the rest of the flavors. Definitely one of the better versions I’ve tried.Dinner Bento boxes came with rice and miso soup, a choice of salads (we opted for the seaweed). Just a note, the first time I went to this restaurant at 1PM, my friend wanted something from the dinner bento box menu and it turned out they have those bento boxes available for lunch as well.I’ve also tried the Alaskan bass from the appetizer menu and the Chilean sea bass from the entrees between my two visits here. Both were good, but I liked the Chilean sea bass a little better, it seems more tender and of course came in a bigger portion than the appetizer. Salmon poke bowl with salad instead of rice was my attempt at a diet. It was fresh and light enough that I had plenty of room for other dishes. Chicken yakitori had a nice charred flavor to it. I could probably eat a whole order by myself, but decided to share with my friend so she could try it too.Every drink I’ve tried had been great so far. I’ve had the watermelon mojito and lychee-tini, my friend tried the blood orange margarita and said it was also good. Watermelon mojito tops my favorite drink list this year. I asked for it to be lightened so it’s not too sweet, the perfect option for the summer.Service was quick and unobtrusive. Empty dishes were promptly whisked away and empty drink glasses quickly replaced with new drinks.Prices are good for midtown. Happy hour menu is from 3PM to 10PM!!! Great news if you have to work late and miss out on most of the happy hour menus in midtown by the time you leave work. The drinks on the right side of the attached picture that are not part of the happy hour menu are very reasonably priced as well. I’m already making plans to come back next week, this is going to be my new favorite restaurant for the summer.

Really nice place where you can eat good food and have a sweet service. Price/quality is really nice.

The best part of dinner could’ve easily been the $5 glass of wine or the amazingly reasonable and tasting dinner, but it was the service and atmosphere. I would likely return because of the others, but the people here will definitely being me back. I got the dinner bento box with the white fish and paid extra for an upgraded roll. When I was full and asked for a container, my waitress politely denied and took my unfinished box of food and returned with a bag. When I opened it for dinner tonight she had packed each item in individual containers. Wow! I was just going to toss it all together and be happy to have dinner ready! It’s those little extra efforts that really do make a difference. Thank you and I’ll see you soon!

Upscale sushi and dining experience in a casual setting. Beer and wine are about half price for happy hour. Emma was a lovely server!

We came here by recommendation of the Courtyardd by Marriott we were staying at. We were in the city for my birthday and this restaurant definitely gave me a memorable birthday dinner! They had beautiful outdoor seating available and the service from the staff was easily some of the best I’ve ever received. The food was so delectable. We had the food pictured as well as a shrimp teriyaki bento box with mochi for dessert. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The staff set us up at a great table out of the way of everyone since we had a stroller with us. I wished we lived closer because we would be regulars!

Its a cool spot with a nice happy hour. Its in the heart of midtown east so its not too bad to get to. The drinks are good and the service staff is friendly. We didnt have food this time but we went for cocktails. Id definitely go back to give their other drinks and their menu a try.

August of 2020, I was back in the office and looking for some place open for lunch and found Gu Japanese Fusion. Their food is delicious, staff so friendly and the price is right. You get a lot of food in lunchbox specials. What I like is, when you order, you have options to choose from, i.e. no salt. I have hypertension and I clicked on no salt. Picked up my order, brought it back to work to eat it and it was delicious. Ive been back there several times, as I like their food and appreciate their attention to their customers. I highly recommend GU, and a lot of my colleagues have ordered or gone there.

Great value!! What a find - their happy hour drinks had surprisingly good cocktails, AMAZING service (everyone was so smiley), and the sushi was delicious. Would definitely come back!!

Came here for early dinner and it was perfect!! The atmosphere, the music, the staff… it was all great. I had 2 shrimp tempura rolls with edamame. It was super delicious and i will definitely come back again!

Great place for dinner. The food iss amazing and they have an adequate drink selection. The wait staff is very professional and attentive. The dessert is delicious, although there is a limited selection. Overall, Id recommend this place.

I work in a restaurant and what I’ve experienced at this establishment is beyond poor management, service and quality. Me and a friend got there at 9:30 as a walk in, in which they seated us. Upon seating the startling server came to the table to take the order when we didn’t even get a chance to open the menu. She said that we had to order really fast because the kitchen is closing and that they need to put it in now (understandable but very rude delivery). While we were still eating the server said I had to pay the bill now because they needed to close the register. Mind you it’s not even 10pm yet it’s still around 9:45. Regardless I still paid and tipped when I absolutely shouldn’t have for that poor customer service. The food was not good. I’ve been here before and it’s a decent spot I had no complaints but this time around completely different it was absolutely dreadful to be in there. The food was just not good. A few minutes past 10 one of the other workers comes to the table and says “sorry it’s 10 we are closed you need to leave” as there was another table behind us. They started to turn on all of the lights to indicate us to leave. When I got home I felt absolutely terrible. I had food poisoning from this place all night long I was throwing up everything I had eaten. Just stay away it’s not worth stoping by. Very disappointed.

Absolutely exceptional. I used to eat in the most refinest and best sushi places in USA and and this place is fantastic. Food melts in a mouth. Cocktails are amazing and very strong. It took me 40 minutes to pick a place in ny for sushi and I am proud of ny decision. Obsessed

Fantastic takeout for lunch. Bunch of different foods in this nice and compact bento box. They prepared the order and nicely packaged out before you come to pick up. The chicken is juicy and the salmon option is also very nice. Would definitely recommend friends to come here.

- Sushi Rice is hard.- lunch special is expensive or the portion is too small. We paid 65 buck before tax and we didnt even close to full.- music is so annoying, they play only 1 song keep repeating it.I dont understand why the review is good, for me personally I not recommend

We all loved the food and drinks we got here. We were staying at the Courtyard right nearby so it was very convenient!

The restaurant is extremely beutiful, I enjoyed very much the salmon dinner the items were high quality and the price was just right!!! All the staff is really friendly the hostess got us to our table quickly and we didn’t had to wait long until our server Lee got to our table, she brought everything in a timely manner and got us a dessert menu at the end, the mochis were delicious and they are different from the cheap ones you can buy at a store they felt more authentic. I’ll be coming back on my next trip to NYC definitely a place to pass by

I ordered the Ramen and it was not a good idea, could be a lot better, the noddles were very basic

Walked into this sushi restaurant on a Friday evening. It was very quiet with few customers. The servers were attentive and food arrived quickly. The food wasn’t very good. The sushi did not taste fresh.

Delicious sushi and great service, you can’t beat the price either. Would come back for sure!

I went to this location for lunch because of my LOVE for Japanese cuisine, but was immediately turned off due to the incredibility rude attitude of the woman at the front counter. She was not friendly, wouldnt not answer a question, and was not focused on helping customers.After ordering and having, she picked up the phone and told a customer on the phone that No, its your fault you ordered the item. I dont care, and hung up on the customer. She was then rude to another customer that walked into the restaurant.In addition, after my food was ready she basically tossed my food towards me. I respectfully said Thank you with a smile because I have better morals and ethics. Please DO YOURSELF a favor and avoid restaurants like these. Its not good to keep allowing restaurants to thrive when they treat customers in a unfair and unfriendly manner. I will NEVER return to this place, and will continue to post about GU Japanese to multiple review and discussion platforms. AVOID GU Japanese PLEASE.

Great lunch deals at GU!

Prices was what we expected but the quality was better then normal. Staff was nice. The drinks were weak but tasted alright. I would eat there again in a heartbeat and recommend them to others.

I ordered through their website and pick up time was confirmed for 11:33. I showed up at 12pm order was not ready. It seems like it was overlooked altogether. On top of waiting, they charged me $1 for spicy mayo sauce.

I really recommend this restaurant, especially for friends, family, work related events. The customer service was good and the food as well. On top of that, they have a Happy Hour from 3PM - 10PM! Win win!

Working in service I rarely like to leave poor reviews, but this is one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Immediately upon sitting we were abruptly greeted by an unfriendly server who demanded we put in our order right away after barely reading the menu. My friend ordered a drink that tasted too strong and not like the classic cocktail and when asking if she could get something different the server told her that no one forced her to order the drink and there is nothing they can do about it. After arguing back and forth things got worse. I have celiac disease. We picked this place because they had a lot of gluten free friendly options as seen online. I ordered a roll and asked if it was gluten free and told her I had celiac disease and if she could let the kitchen know to take precautions. She said yes it is 100% gluten free, and after taking one bite I discovered there was tempura in my roll which was not written on the menu. The manager was unapologetic and asked “what I would like her to do about it now” with sarcasm and an attitude. I was sick the entire night from what she deemed a silly mistake. I will never be going back there and anyone who has celiac disease should not go either!!!

Terrible! Ordered Salmon Teriyaki bento box, my normal, first it was cold. I am a block away and it is hot outside. Second the box, soup container was dirty. Looks like cream cheese all over both containers. Third, I almost choked on the California roll. The crab meat still had the plastic wrapper, disgusted and disappointed. Never again!

The sushi is very fresh and the decor was very modern. The only slight issue was it took like 6 minutes to fet my check. The price of the sushi is relatively standard 20 to 35 per entree. The 2 person chef special was slightly expensive but delicious. Pity I forgot to take pictures haha

Formerly known as Asian Station, the proprietors changed the name but the food is still outstanding! I don’t know another place in this neighborhood or most others to get the freshest, most creative sushi at prices less than they should be.Katy and Benny are the most kind people and truly know hospitality.If you’re in or near the neighborhood, stop by and you will enjoy.

The food is not bad at all and drinks are very affordable, but I would never come back to that place again! The waitress was so rude and unprofessional, seemed like she was doing us a favor by getting our order. We still left the tip and said thanks for everything before leaving and she literally rolled her eyes on us! Will never go there again, food’s good but doesn’t worth it

I love this spot! The ambiance is great for dinner with friends or SO. Service is always wonderful and attentive, and the food is so delicious. Love that they have a late night happy hour because it helps make the meal very affordable.

Delicious, really reasonably priced, and pretty quick service. The cocktails are good and theres a lot of variety. The specialty sushi rolls are the real reason to come though. The outdoor seating is nice and youre protected from the elements so you can still go out if its rainy/chilly/windy.

Love this place! Such a great happy hour! The rock shrimp and garlic edamame are amazing. My friends and I come here weekly to catch up. Great sushi too! Strongly recommend. Cant beat it for any price!

Definitely looks nice in in the photos online. Its a bit run down and could use a little TLC to create a more inviting atmosphere. With that said the food and service were good, not great. We had sashimi and a dragon roll. Overall the fish was decent, but nothing extraordinary. For the price its a good value and if this were my only option I would be satisfied, but given the amount of options in the area I dont think I will be returning.

I’m a regular here! I can’t even count how many times I’ve been here (it’s been that many). My friend and I decided to have drinks after work like we normally do on a friday. My friend’s drink spilled before she even got the chance to drink and we politely asked if they can refill the small amount spilt) They told us they would have to charge an additional drink fee. It’s ridiculous for them to have to charge when they clearly saw the spill! For them not to be accommodating for a customer they have seen countless times for 4 years, not to mention bringing other customers here, it’s honestly disheartening! And might I add it’s bottom shelf liquor. You would think as a loyal customer they would accommodate me in some way (out of four years they never have) Not to mention we are both business owners and we understand the importance of loyal customers. It’s all just very disappointing. :(

MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I ate there today and preferred the sashimi platter. Their salmon was stale and had a funky odor like it was catching fungus. When I complained to the waiter was she said maybe I just don’t like the taste of salmon because no one else is complaining. Also the eel had bones that I pointed out to the server. They did a absolutely nothing to replace my food or give me a refund. I do not understand how they can assume the taste of a customer despite their bad quality products. NEVER GOING TO THAT RESTAURANT AGAIN.

The food here was moderately good. We ordered pork ramen, peking duck and habachi shrimp and steak fried rice. I didnt realize the rice and the shrimp and steak would be separately served. Back home (in Shreveport, LA and parts of Texas) when I order habachi rice with a protein it is coupled together. However, as I said the food we ordered was moderately good. So, if u visit here, please ask questions regarding your order. Happy Eating!

One of my favorite sushi places! My boyfriend and I come here all the time because the food is amazing and they have the best happy hour deals in the city. The wait staff is always so nice and are very accommodating to my gluten free preferences. Highly recommend!

This place is a hidden gem! I’m used to eating sushi at exclusive restaurants in Los Angeles, which means I’m picky with my sushi. I’m not exaggerating when I say this place is phenomenal! Highest quality fish! Melts in your mouth! Cocktails are delicious, especially the Peach Fizz (I believe that’s what it’s called) absolute must try. We ate dinner here two nights in a row. The atmosphere is beyond pleasant! Clean and cozy! Highly recommend!!

This restaurant is worth visiting for sushi lovers. Their sushi was great. Flavors were amazing and the price is also better then most around. Beer selections arent great but, decent enough.Service was great and kept checking in from a distance.Overall this a great restaurant and I will definitely recommend to anyone who likes sushi/sashimi.

The business seemed to be run by Asian owner. Assumed the food should taste authentic.Some of their Mochi desserts should have gone through quite a few times of melting & getting (re)frozen.Their sushi didnt feel very fresh, either.Failed to meet my expectations, but staffs were still friendly.

Very nice space, seemed quiet on the weekends which was great, allowed for pleasant conversation. All day happy hour on Saturday & Sunday. Food was good, service was quick and friendly. May have overstayed our welcome due to the extended happy hour but staff didnt mind and kept serving. 👍👍

Its almost impossible to find a value for money lunch spot in this part of town. Gu is one of those places that fills this void nicely.

My husband, I and my son dropped by on an early afternoon weekday to enjoy Sushi and other dishes. However, the back seating section was closed off. So we decided to take the front seats that only sits two and grabbed another chair for my son. Within 3 minutes a group of 7 young adults came in and were going to sit next to us. The store was not accommodating to their group or our family, so we all decided to leave. It seems that the restaurant was not accommodating, so why give them the business?

Highly recommended!!! I am a tough critic and this place did not disappoint. The food, the drink, the customer service was all excellent!! One of my new favorite places.

I love Gu and I go at least once a week and sit outside. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I have very high standards for the sushi and they are superb. They are very dog friendly and always welcome my Labrador Retriever.

Everything Ive tried on their menu has been good. Also I appreciated how thorough they are with individual catering orders. They go the extra mile with labeling the meals exactly per instructions. Which is not the case with most restaurants. Great food, Great service!

Six stars!!! What a wonderful place: the ambience, the food, and the very warm service and great attitude of the waitresses made a wonderful evening for my wife’s birthday. The sushi was truly great. We are extremely satisfied. Thank you, we will be back whenever we come back to NY.

They were outstanding! I had the Salmon/Tuna Poke bowl with a piece of Tomago, and my girlfriend had the Tiger Roll. All delicious! Service and atmosphere were excellent!

The cashier/hostess Katie is extremely rude nasty and should not be in the restaurant hospitality service business. She is horrible and very offensive in the way she speaks to people and treats customers. Management really should either fire her or put her in the back and get nicer person dealing with customers in the front. The waitstaff are sweet and hardworking and it’s really only Katie who is so horrible and doesn’t act nicely with customers.

I left this place thinking, is it just the sake or did I just have the best sushi of my life? After another visit, I gotta say it was the sushi. Theyll make any roll fast and fresh, but my favorite was hands down the sea urchin. I know random, but I think its a must order. Fatty tuna and chefs special roll was also very high on my list.

I think I have made a substantive discovery ... the worst sushi that I have ever eaten. What is perplexing is that the restaurant is in the middle of Manhattan, so it would seem that the competition is so stiff that bad sushi wont fly. It wasnt a gas station. The rice was hard and the service was bad. I was a walk-in and felt like I was inconveniencing them by patronizing. I bought four rolls and could only make it through the spider roll. Everything else was literally trash. But I was back to my room when I ate the food, so I just gave up. Even the soy sauce was bad - seriously. I know that it sounds like I am just complaining, and I am definitely complaining, but it really was that bad. I asked for extra soy sauce (seven total for my four rolls). They made it clear that it was an inconvenient request and charged me an extra dollar. I eat sushi regularly, and have a foundation to base this strong review on. Dont do it, is my strong recommendation.

Japanese lady with slightly blond hair on evening shift is very rude and uptight.I think shes new because I only seen her a few times recently, butShe has a bad attitude, wears a plastic glove, demands the card upfront before giving the receipt for take out. Nasty attitude. Please fire her !!!I told her give the customer receipt first so they can double check ? The service was kinda odd, me and my mother came here early so there was a lot of seating, we got seated at a mini two person booth. There were also many parties of two sitting at full sized booths and plenty of open full sized ones. We requested to change seats and our server kinda refused. Later when our food arrived ( I got the trio lunch special that came with a California roll and nigiri tuna salmon and I forgot the last one, my mom got a different roll but same nigiri ) I got a phenomenal nigiri that melted in my mouth while my mom got decent ok nigiri. I tried hers and there was an obvious difference between my fish and her fish. The rolls tasted like good typical sushi, but I didn’t like how the service was kinda odd but acted good when it came to speed. Overall the food was awesome for me, not so much for my mom and the waitress wasn’t really accommodating our needs that weren’t such a big deal.

I came to Gu Japanese Fusion Sushi for a work lunch and was happy with my meal. The restaurant has a rally nice atmosphere for a date night.The sushi quality was pretty good, but my friend ordered the bento box which came with teriyaki which was really good.Overall it was a good meal, but I probably would not choose it over my go-to sushi restaurants.

Killer sushi rolls. They are really so creative- you won’t find these special rolls elsewhere in manhattan.Really yummy cocktails. Loved the pork bun appetizers. Definitely recommend coming here!

We came here a few days before Christmas in 2019 because this spot was only a 5 min walking distance from our hotel, and we were starving.First and foremost, they have a daily happy hour from 3-10 pm which was incredible! I ordered a white peach sangria which was delicious. For dinner, I ordered an avocado roll + sweet potato roll and both were super tasty! The sushi was inexpensive, and the place got packed about 30 mins after we got there. I would definitely recommend!

Two of the 4 people in the party got food poisoning here. One person threw up three times before even leaving the restaurant after some tuna apps and basic rolls.

Great service and amazing food.

Some of the menu was decent, like the crispy sushi, but everything was served with rice that is raw/undercooked. I ordered the chirashi and salmon roll and both of them had rice that tasted like I was putting my mouth in a bag of uncooked rice. My teeth hurt. The yakisoba was also bad, very overcooked and had no flavor. The main ingredient to a yakisoba is yakisoba sauce that has Worcestershire sauce and is slightly tangy, but they only used soy sauce and that is NOT yakisoba. It’s not authentic and it’s basically just Chinese fried noodles. The bill was also very expensive for what I got. You get a better deal going to a cheaper sushi restaurant if that’s what you want. Or else go somewhere else that has better quality food for the price, or somewhere where your teeth won’t chip😭

I recently got takeout from here. I did the 2 rolls for $14 lunch special. Got the avocado cucumber and shrimp tempura rolls. Both were so good. Fresh and delicious. The lady who greeted me when I walked in was also very nice. This place is now my go to for office take out.

Good fancy sushi in a good looking bar. Im more of a lover of the simple sushi but the lobster sushi was definitely a recommendation. All sushi was well made. Some simpler rolls seemed to fall apart on picking up unfortunately. Nitpicking and the place is still worth it

The food has a worm on the vegetables even we show it the waitress , they offered ice cream and they charge us the food. We were group of six and tip was fixed. Unbelievable but they charge the food even with a WORM on it.

Pricer sushi place, food was fresh and good quality. Presentation on take out could of been a little better. Service was good and didn’t take long for 2 rolls and a soup.

A very good option for a casual dinner!If you there for Unlimited sake with $20 purchase of food you are out of luck, but the good news is that all drinks are 50% off during happy hour (pretty much all the time)The dishes are awesome - amazing presentation, fresh, good portion sizes.Prices are average, nothing outrageous.I enjoyed this place and definitely will be back for more.

Buyer beware. They steal credit card info. I was charged at 8am this morning by this restaurant. Who goes to a Japanese restaurant at 8am? I immediately complained to the CC company. Bad for business.Thanks for adding your response Gu. The credit card company is investigating. I’m sure they will contact you. I will take down this review if the cc company tells me the restaurant was not responsible and a third party scammer did this.

I recently discovered this hidden gem spot in Manhattan, the atmosphere is nice,sushi is great.but their happy hour drinks is unbeatable!!! wine,beer and cocktails. i dont know what other people think but to me, i liked them all.the staffs are nice and efficient, i definitely will be back!!!

Grilled sea bass was fried instead of grilled. Vegetables under it were cold and over boiled, no seasoning. Service was ok but food not - avoid.

Fish is really fresh here. Service is pretty good as well. Ordered agedashi tofu and a sashimi plate. The agedashi was really good. Light and crispy but not oily. The sashimi was fresh and the selection was pretty varied. Came around 9pm on a Sunday night and the happy hour was a good deal for drinks, 3.5 bucks for Japanese beers. The only thing that wasnt good was their soy sauce. I dont think its actually light soy sauce, but regular soy sauce cut with water.

I had the grilled shrimp and mango salad with a side of avocado. Was absolutely delicious. I had a wonderful time with my longtime friend having dinner for a couple of hours. The ambience was wonderful and the waitress was amazing & attentive.

I had my wifes friends visiting from the Philippines. They havent seen each other for years. I wanted them to enjoy their conversations. In this restaurant, there was no one there at the time. restaurant was practically empty. Picture shows as proven. The waiters were very impatient, we had about 3 different waiters coming by. I understand you want to know what we would like to order. But it hasnt been a minute yet. We just sat down, and they kept on coming back, even when we said we havent decided yet and we need more time, they came back 30 seconds later. Every 5 minutes they would come and check on us and ask questions, frankly we felt extremely annoyed. We kept on being interrupted, it felt like we couldnt finish any serious conversations.The restaurant closes at 11:45, its 8:17 and the waiter just came by and just gave me the check. Never had I been in a situation, in a supposed 4.5 star restaurant felt this disrespected. They didnt bother asking if I wanted dessert or if I wanted another drink. Just came by and gave us a check. To me that shows they want to kick us out. As I type this now I feel so humiliated infront of my wifes friends. I wanted to take them to a great restaurant and make sure they had a good time. Ruined. Completely ruined the whole experience for me. I will never recommend this to anyone and I will never show up here again.

The price was reasonable and the quality of the food wasnt bad. However, the amount of food was small compared to the price. Also, it would be good if you let us know in advance which items of alcohol are not available.

Japanese food was REALLY good, specially the Tuna Tataki and the salmon avocado roll. I strongly recommend this restaurant because serves good food and not expensive - definetely cheap for nyc manhattan. I forgot to take photos :($60 per person but we ordered alcoholic drinks

I come to Gu Sushi often and every time the food is excellent and the service is great. I always try something new and Im never disappointed. Just arrive before the lunchtime rush because it gets busy. The great places always do! Very friendly staff as well. Highly recommend.

Very bad quality! The worst sushi I ever had in my life. The shrimp and chicken were hard, super hard. Even seaweed was difficult to chew. It was like plastic. I wonder how so many people were happy with this restaurant. Maybe they were good in the past. Bad bad experience to pay over $120 for a food I couldn’t eat.

Loved. Great miso, excellent rainbow roll and fun Naruto rolls made my dining experience one of the best Ive had in the city this trip.

Made a reservation for today via yelp back on June 11! I even got a text to confirm the reservation. We walked over from our hotel to find that it was actually closed today. Went to Wokuni instead.

Came for a late dinner and at first, was worried because the place was relatively empty. I was pleasantly surprised! First, they had happy hour specials so I was able to take advantage of lower prices, service was friendly and attentive and most importantly, the food was delicious! I had two pieces of yellowtail sushi, soft shell crab appetizer and a special sushi roll. The soft shell crab came out first and the sushi was timed perfectly to come out later. I had a great experience and loved the food highly recommend!

What can I not say about this place? My wife and I were staying round the corner, out of town from Scotland and happened upon this place. It really is a real jewel in the NYC dining scene. The sushi is some of the best I have ever tasted. I highly recommend the Godzilla Roll and the Suzuki Carpaccio. Mata was our server and he was wonderful. Attentive but not persistent and he was just a genuine nice guy who cared about the work he does. It showed. Well done to all the crew at Gu. You have a great thing going.

The best sushi in my life. Miso soup was delicious. The seaweed in their rolls is packed with flavour. The Godzilla roll was something out of this planet. $3.50 good beers during happy hour 6-10pm. Highly recommend.

Good food great happy hour

Lovely experience on a rainy Fall Wednesday. Happy Hour covers pretty much any diners hour except maybe an Argentinean. Food was awesome. I watched the chefs. They really know their craft. The daikon was not great, but I think Im the only person in the world who chows that anyway. Fresh fish, great portions, excellent service, superb price. Will definitely make this a go-to destination!

Just placed an order for pick up, over the phone at 5:30pm and they said okay, 10 minutes. I got in the restaurant at 5:45pm and they said they never got an order over the phone. Asked me to wait again and not even offer me a complimentary ginger ale, upon request. So I WALKED OUT.RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Great Bento Boxes for lunch and dinner. Awesome Sushi, nice selection of Saki and Japanese beers and some cool cocktails. Service was prompt and friendly. All of this at very reasonable prices. If I could give more stars I would.
