This is not just farm to table. Its an experience. Firstly, finger foods literally is meant to be eaten with the fingers. Then comes everything else. The quality of food, the flavors and unique items. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The ambiance was warm yet upscale. Great birthday dinner for sure.

I stumbled upon a random TikTok my daughter sent me that was about FORGE being a great meal. We were visiting NYC so her and I decided to give it a try. It was hands down the BEST meal we had the entire trip. The portions were so great- we were able to try multiple items- we ordered the oysters and wings to start- followed by the chili lobster (which was hands down our favorite) for the main meal we did the brick chicken. Everything was so good we HAD to try dessert which was so fun because we ordered the “Egg”.What was so great besides the amazing food- the service was also the best we had had in New York. My daughter is only 13 and we had multiple experiences at other nicer restaurants where they took one look at my daughter and seemed instantly annoyed that i had a kid with me. Not at FORGE! They treated us so kind and my daughter said the whole experience was so amazing it was “life changing”. She even asked me if she could meet the chef to say thanks (which she has never asked before)Since COVID it seems the service industry isn’t what it used to be but coming here made me so hopeful that restaurants still care about customers experience. Will be back 100% and i will for sure recommend to everyone i know visiting NYC.

I don’t give 5 stars. This Tribeca mainstay is one I would recommend for any occasion, from the fanciest to an easy night out. The staff is friendly and professional with a sommelier who knows their wines and a customized menu by Marc Forgione himself. Over the many years of coming here, I have my faves which include the hiramasa, the lobster, the chicken, the proposal sauce and anything on that dessert menu. On this particular day, I had The Egg. Wow! Go!

Romantic, cozy, and dimly lit Michelin starred restaurant in Tribeca that fires on all cylinders! From the ambiance to the suave service, from the starters to the dessert, everything was top notch! With a small seasonal menu, the chef doesnt fail to disappoint on any item. The ravioli were tasting many quality, savoring every bite. The duck with cherry sauce was among the best duck dishes weve had, and the chicken under a brick was 120% something to write home about. Absolutely elegant in its simplicity! I love to cook at home and it got me thinking how I could recreate something this amazing with beautiful ingredients! The egg dessert is a surprise, but its like something out of a Netflix cooking show, spectacle and flavor in every bite!! Dont hesitate to splurge on an evening here!!

Great service, location, and taste. As you’d expect, the portions aren’t amazing but the flavors are unique and very memorable. The ravioli and lobster dish were amazing. The sizes of the dishes were a guessing game for me - lobster, ravioli, mussels were all relatively small and then the brick chicken was truly a dish to share (absolutely huge). The chicken itself isn’t special but i would still recommend it.

There were some very good elements and some not so good elements. They start by bringing you two beautiful looking rolls. As soon as I picked it up it felt cold, broke it open and ice cold inside. They apologized and got two more but it was rather disappointing that they don’t even make sure they reheat the rolls properly. Shishito peppers were cooked perfectly but could have used a little salt. The wings were an elevated version and very good. The halibut was the best bite. Cooked perfectly. The steak was surprisingly bland. Overall atmosphere was very nice, rustic and cozy but food was not consistent.

Great spot. Had the Laotian Sushi and Notkitori skewers to start. Both were fantastic but the Laotian Sushi was the most remarkable. Crunchy, toasty rice cubes with fresh fish and spicy sauce. So great!! The Salmon Croquettes were spot on as well. The only misfire was the Pork Chop. The chop was chewy and the sweet apple and spice reduction served over the pork simply overwhelmed the meat. The combination worked better on paper than in reality. Will go again just for the Laotian Sushi!

One of the most disappointing meals I have had this year. Service was abysmal. We let them know my wife had a dairy allergy. 15 minutes after ordering they informed us none of the 8 different dishes we attempted to order could be made without dairy including any pastas. When we asked what they could make without dairy they gave us a blank stare and said they needed another 15 minutes and ultimately only came up with the tartare. The chicken skewers weren’t just burnt, they were cremated. The tartare was sickeningly sweet. The tomato salad sounded promising but was super underwhelming - needed acidity and salt. The decor screamed medieval AirBnb. There was a massive sign that read “Believe” and separately a large infinity symbol for decor. The whole chicken was solid. Would eat here if this was the only option in an airport.

My advice is to go to his restaurant with an open mind, let go of any preconceived ideas, open up ur wallet/purse, and let Marc Forgione guide you through the ride that is his culinary mind. I’ve dined across NYC for over a decade, particularly in Tribeca, but never have I encountered such a disappointing experience as at Marc Forgione. Our evening was a series of letdowns:1. A ridiculous 45-minute wait between appetizers, with no updates or service in between. (note, the app we were waiting for was tuna tartare)2. Attempted multiple times to address the delays with various staff, only to receive a comped round of drinks as a weak apology.3. The meal dragged on for 3 hours due to these long kitchen delays. This wasn’t just a bad night; it was the worst dining experience Ive had in my 11 years in NYC. For a Tribeca restaurant, this level of service is not only surprising but inexcusable. My advice: Avoid Marc Forgione. There are plenty of other places in Tribeca that respect your time and business.

Came with a group of 10-12. Had a set menu.Appetizers were really tasty and interesting. The type of dishes where you get one or two bites to just try the taste and texture. There was an oyster dish that was amazing. But after two of those the rest of the food took a pretty long time to come out and suddenly we got 4-5 dishes of very heart heavy food, including steak, chicken, a lobster dish. Everyone struggled to eat and enjoy it because the pacing was off. Also the wine service was poor. We waited way too long for bottles to open and our glasses were empty for an annoyingly long time. We deliberately ordered two bottles at a time to avoid it but still kept happening.I do think its worth trying out this place as they had some good dishes, but I wouldnt go back again personally

This place can be good IF you know a little before you go.So, the place loses points for the hostess who made it seem like our table was almost ready, and we waited for about 45+ minutes, even with a reservation, and even with a bunch of empty tables. We were a party of 6, so if you are hungry when you arrive, best bet is to be a table of 2.So onto the food. I ordered a chicken liver ravioli for an appetizer, and black bass for entree. The ravioli was very tasty, but super small portion though. The black bass was mediocre, and really dont recommend getting this. What was really good however, was the chicken under a brick. If you go, really, you should just get that. It tastes the best of what I tried, and is generous with the portion.I was told the dry aged rib-eye was also really good by my friend. So the flavor of the food overall was pretty good, but for the prices and whole Iron Chef element, I was expecting far better. So maybe if the place can be more honest about when you get seated, and take off the lower-grade menu choices, then I would reconsider the grade and give 4-5 stars.

The food here is good -- maybe very good. But for the price and the hype, I think we deserve to expect more. The oysters were truly exceptional, but most of the other food was just good. The lobster bake left something to be desired. The flavor of my wifes pasta dish was a little more satisfying. The dessert special was good.Service was good, but again not exceptional. My espresso came out after we were finished the dessert and our server was nowhere to be found in the meantime. The biggest disappointment was in ambiance, though. This place is LOUD -- like, sports bar loud. Decor is very rustic and dark. It was hard to relax when squinting at the menu and straining to listen across the table. Its a pretty good restaurant. We finally got a reservation last week because it was very difficult to get a dinner reservation here. We didnt have a good start as we arrived 20 minutes late at the restaurant and waited for another 30 minutes to be seated (our fault for being late). We ordered the daily specials, the appetizer being a baked potato ravioli which as our server described to be a baked potato with all sorts of goodness on top of it and some ravioli at the sides, but imagine our surprise when after 30 mints of waiting we received a bowl with three tiny pieces of potato and three raviolis and a sauce!!! I did not like the taste at all. We further ordered the creekstone aged steak to be shared, it was ok- the meat was nicely cooked but the crispy chips on the side were SUPER salty and the carrot glazed with was just ugh. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this expensive place where the food was just mediocre. WILL NOT return. Also, our waiter was charming and making jokes and every single dish in the restaurant was his favorite and I think he sort of mislead us by describing the food to be more delicious than it actually was.

We traveled all the way from across the country to have an amazing dinner and experience after watching the chefs videos on YouTube with steaks and brick chicken, making reservations 3 weeks in advance, only to be greeted by a rude hostess, who told us we had to wait 45 minutes to an hour... Place was pretty full, but there was a few available tables that we could see... We waited around for 20-25 minutes around the bar area, but decided to go elsewhere, so we could finally eat after traveling for over 8 hours.I could see all the delicious plates being delivered to all the different tables and Im more than confident the food is amazing, judging by the aromas from the kitchen, but for us customer service plays a really great part in making the whole experience worthwhile... Would definitely give it another shot next time we come to NYC. Until next time, we wish you the best.

I shouldn’t have tipped because the joke that you made after was offensive & You didn’t say it to be polite.Given that I write about places in a longer form, I’m gonna pass on this location because I just don’t think it’s worth it.I don’t think it embodies what the current state of New York cuisines are nor do I think the services is elevated to a point worth giving any credit. The bartender was snarky and a bit offensive. The hostess is the only thing that was positive. Given the inconsistency at the bar, she almost filled out of place with her positivity, conversed with the sidebar attitude of the bartender. The one from Houston. She was making slight eye remarks behind my back and didn’t think I could see it and then I looked up and noticed her and someone else almost mocking me.Heads up, you don’t get credit for treating people like human beings at your bar. That is the basic standard. You never once asked if I enjoyed my meal you just collected the bill and went on. This restaurant is on my list now. Will include a link if I write about this a longer form but again I just don’t think it’s worth it

Great atmosphere. Very cozy and romantic. Food was incredible flavorful and pleasing to the palate. The fois gras starter with ox tail was superb. The ribeye and venison left us wanting more. Simply delicious! On our way out we were surprised with a couple warm chocolate chips cookies from heaven with milk of course. Next time I am come thru NYC we will be stopping by!

Review №88

It was honestly a pretty underwhelming experience, and it started with the waiter. After ordering wine, we asked to start with the chicken wings. He gave us some incomprehenisble nonsense about only be able to start us with bread as Chef likes the order to go in all at once... Pretty standard in restaurant industry. If this is the case, simply explain that in a rational way. His tone was so patronizing and condescending, and I think he realized it after he made the statement because I wasnt charged for the 2nd glass of wine. The menu also shouldnt list the appetizers as To Start... just annoying. After that was all sorted out, the chicken wings arrived and were delicious. Ordered the tomahawk, and it was fantastic. The steak did take 50 minutes to get to the table, so maybe it tasted better being hungry due to the wait. Or to be fair, maybe I was still annoyed with the waiters tone from earlier. The manager came and grabbed our check, asking how dinner was, and I had to be honest and explain the above. She was gracious in apologizing and a lovely person. So, there were some 5 star moments but a lot of 1 star moments. For a place with this reputation, it should be 5 star all around. Sadly, it was only 3 stars for me, but my review wont make or break this place.

This place gets 3 stars because the quality of food, presentation and taste were all great. That said, a dining experience is not complete without proper service and that they failed badly. Pushy waitstaff with attitude trying to upsell and/or manipulate you into ordering more (e.g. only beverage menu is placed on table as you sit down in an attempt to trick you into ordering drinks; we were given a lot of attitude after asking for menus and explaining I needed to see the food menu in order to order the wine.) Also, decided to order a 2010 vintage bottle and as tasted it realized it was completely corked (i.e. rotten fruit smell) only to be told by sommelier (or whoever he was) that thats the characteristic aroma of that regions grape. He could have been nice about it but chose to be belittling and rude not to mention completely incompetent as even my 90 year old grandma could have told you the wine was spoiled. Enfin, good food, obnoxious staff and service. Def not coming back.

The food and the service was top notch. We had the Smokin Peters Point to start, followed by Chili Lobster with Texas toast, Snowdance Farms Chicken Under-a-Brick (for two); and finished with the smores. Throughout the meal our waiter made wine recommendations which paired perfectly with our meal. I have been here several times with my wife and each time has been a unique dining experience.

Wanted to like it but it food was inconsistent and expensive. $100 per person for appetizers, an entree and a drink. Most entrees are $40-45 and while nicely presented and solid, it’s not worth the price tag. Nice atmosphere. Better place to get a drink/appetizers

NOT TODDLER FRIENDLY. They would only seat the 3 of us at a table for 2 right next the door and the place was empty. We went early. My toddler always orders his own entree. Would they seat 3 adults ordering entrees at a table for 2? Ridiculous. Least helpful hostess ever. Very unprofessional.

One of NYC’s most special dining experiences. Had my friends 30th bday here and they went so far above and beyond to make it special I couldn’t believe it. From a handwritten card to champagne for me and a mocktail for him (sober), to unreal food (get the Texas toast lobster) this place is such a special gem. I always look forward to coming here!!!

This restaurant is the quintessential Tribeca, new-American bistro. Its warm and inviting, but also hip and bustling. First of all, the menu is pretty edited, and making a decision wont be too difficult. The chili lobster and chicken for two were standouts. Be forewarned, the prices are high, and the waiters push the upsells pretty hard. Reservations are not terribly difficult to get on OpenTable, but that doesnt mean theyre busy; on my last visit, I was asked to vacate the table after a 2.5 hour dinner. I dont blame them, but after spending this kind of money, it leaves a poor final impression.

Far and away the best real restaurant in NYC. Not pretentious, not froofy and filled with fakeness. Marc is the real deal. Hes a chef that understands what is and what food could be. Can I give it 6 stars? So amazing, the menu changes frequently but they keep the staples that is awesome. Maybe it was because I had high expectations but this place was underwhelming. The wagyu lardo pasta was too al dente. The halibut sauce was way too salty. The chili lobster was undercooked, which mightve been intentional but it was off-putting nonetheless. The pumpkin pie dessert was interesting and the scallops were good but overall, the meal had too many errors. I did like the ambiance. It has a rustic, casual vibe thats comforting. The servers are very friendly and professional. Its a shame that the meal was so disappointing.

You cant go wrong with their famous brick chicken but to truly appreciate what this kitchen is capable of doing you should opt for the tasting menu. Amazing American restaurant in Tribeca! They had a little bit of everything. Truffles were on the scene the night we went so we had a lobster cavatelli with truffles that was a game changer! Its not on the regular menu but expect specials like this regularly. We also had the lobster app with Texas toast. The toast in the not-to-spicy au jus was insane! Too much lobster? How dare you :)We also had the halibut which blew our minds! Just get it and thank us later. Lastly, we had a half portion of the chicken. I would recommend skipping the chicken because it is cooked in fat and way too many calories than it needs to be.

This eponymous restaurant is dark, sexy and attracts an endless stream of downtown denizens. Abundant candles produce more atmosphere than light for the room clad in exposed brick and salvaged wood. Aloof servers dressed in black seem to disappear into the background. The innovative American food excites with bold flavors, as in barbecued oysters sprinkled with pancetta powder. Montauk fluke en croute, set over roasted cauliflower, hazelnuts and capers topped with a buttery panel of toast, is dressed with sauce proposal-so named because the rich brown butter and golden raisin emulsion is said to have earned the chef a few romantic offers. It is delicious, but Chef Marc Forgione deserves equal affection for those amazing butter-glazed potato rolls.

Iron Chef Marc Forgiones namesake restaurant has been serving delectable dishes in TriBeCa for many years. Although they no longer have a Michelin star (from 2010-2011), the quality of food is still worth making a trek for. A dim, bustling ambiance at night makes for an non-intrusive dining environment, worthy of dates or even business dinners. To begin the meal - any of their hearty pastas are perfect on a winter evening, but their raw preparations of fish are also commendable. The star of the menu is the Bell & Evan Roast Chicken for Two, however; its served in a cast-iron skillet and comes with potatoes, broccoli rabe, and plenty of pan drippings. Its well-seasoned and well-portioned, and sure to satisfy any appetite. Make a reservation in advance as tables at this restaurant can fill up quickly.

Got to call it like I see it. Wow what a disappointment. Had some solid meals back in the old space. This space is really nice, and Darian the bartender was absolutely lovely and professional. But the food…an edible but plain and underwhelming duck liver mouse with muted pickled veg garnish, with burnt to black toast that I was shocked they even sent out. Then the rigatoni Nero with baby octopus. Perhaps the worst pasta dish I’ve had out in 2024. The pasta was undercooked and I like al dente, but this was hard. The octopus was chewy and not tenderized in the least, and the whole dish was over salted to nauseam. I respectfully had to send it back. My stomach was turning, so I wrapped up a bit early and left. Hoping they just had a bad night. But yet another example of why although I like trying different places, I always gravitate back to my 5 or 6 “sure bet” spots.
