Incredible service (I think from Eric), food, and atmosphere. My husband said it was the best burger he’s had in a long time and he didn’t even have the sauce on it (he doesn’t like mayo). Banana pudding was awesome. We split a drink, burger, and dessert. All the service staff were polite and helpful. Lovely place.
The Quintana Margarita was nice and flavorful, and we enjoyed a variety of snacks before the dinner menu started at 4:30. The atmosphere was nice to sit and chat for a while and the bathroom is full of dog pics which is very fun.
Chicken was succulent. Nice crunch factor to the chicken. Sauce that came with it was fantastic. They gave condiments but the chicken was so juicy that it was not necessary. The biscuit was not dry, nice and flaky. 9/10 for the sandwhichService was fantastic, the whole ambiance of the place feels like your in your cool grandmothers home. Great place to bring a friend here to catch up.
Biscuit fried chicken looks awesome, but it wasnt what I expected: the sauce is sweet, the biscuit is not savory and the chicken didnt have much salt, so overall the sandwich was kinda sweet, which I didnt like. Also, it was a bit overfried, hard. It does not come with pickles or anything. And they serve it in a dessert or starter plate that is uncomfortable.
Great space! Such a fun Sunday brunch we had.The stuffed French toast was the best I’ve had in the city and the decor is so cute!
This is such a cute brunch spot! A bit pricey, but not the worst. This place is pretty spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the decor is so lovely; it feels like having lunch in a nice garden. We started with brunch drinks, the Pineaperol Spritz (great way to mix up your classic Aperol Spritz) and a Bloody Mary, both $15. We had the Mezze platter ($15), which was actually fairly loaded with dip and would be enough for 3-4 people to share. The quiche that day ($14) was salmon and goat cheese, which was loaded with salmon- as a salmon lover, I thought it was great! The fried chicken biscuit ($20, +$2 to add an egg) was a great choice as well. The chicken breading was crispy and the hot honey hit the spot. Service was friendly and attentive.
Ambiance is great, the people that work there are great and the Ferns cheeseburger is amazing! Would recommend for sure. The espresso martini and the Quintana margarita are also my favorites drinks here. The manager, Tyler, and the bartender, Sam were also Amazing! 10/10I always have a great experience when I’m here.
Dope spot with cozy interior design, live casual music, and delicious food. Got the deviled eggs and fried chicken sandwich and enjoyed both. Friends got the burger and gave it rave reviews as well!I could see this being an amazing date spot. Just dont get the chicken sandwich on a first date - its a very messy eat lol.
This place didn’t knock my socks off but it’s definitely good. The burger came medium-well (I’m a well done kinda guy so that’s on me). Cheese had great flavor, the potato bun was delightful, sauce tasty. Definitely recommend the burger. The tots were nice n crispy, really good. The egg biscuit had a lot of egg (maybe too much), but the biscuit was really good.
This is such a cute place to have brunch!! Everything we tried was delicious!! No one in our party was disappointed with any of the Cocktails or entrees!! Loved the chicken biscuit sandwiches! Bloody Marys were the bomb!! And make sure to try the donut choices of the week! Would definitely make reservations here again!
Chicken sandwich was great. The waiter Erik was friendly. Restaurant was nice and quiet. Could hear the people at your table.
Best shrimp burger ever! Tasty, fresh, amazing! Stylish place, should be a must in your visit in the east village.
The live music is phenomenal, the environment is clean and woody, and the food is tasty and rich (but not too rich). On a delightful spring evening, I stumbled into this place and saw the green shoots of NYC coming back to life. The service was great and the environment was relaxing, vibrant, free of any overbearing governors.Highly recommended if you can grab a spot inside. The aesthetic, mood, and lighting are perfect. As is the shrimp burger and cheeseburger.
Food delish, fast service, super cute decor and nice atmosphere
Ferns was a nice quaint place for a girls lunch.I ordered the lavender 75 and a Caesar salad.I thought it was odd the salad included radishes and carrots, honestly this was a craving order and these additions kind of threw off the satisfaction for my craving. Nonetheless, the cocktail and lunch were both delicious. This bar / restaurant has super cute decor, and wonderful energy. I would definitely come back when I’m in the city again.
This place is a must-visit in east village! Beautiful decor, cozy vibes, delicious food & drinks, great for an intimate group hang or a date night.Btw, Jim is an EXCELLENT server and made our experience even better. Very attentive, thoughtful, and fun to talk with! Everyone in our 6-person group said theyd be back - large part because of him. Keep up the great work!
Lovely American restaurant with good food and convivial atmosphere. A great brunch menu with unique dishes that taste great and are beautifully presented. Delicious avocado toast, French toast, breakfast sandwiches and excellent drink menu. Worth a trip even if you dont live in the East Village.
Probably the best gluten free bun I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Menu also has GF bread and a few other GF options (flourless chocolate cake was decedent). Their fries are in a shared fryer with gluten containing items so they’re not celiac safe unfortunately. Overall great cozy spot for American food and the wait staff was super attentive with allergies!
Love Ferns! Its a beautiful, cozy atmosphere (perfect date spot) and we loved the food and cocktails. I got the cheeseburger this time which I loved, but my boyfriend got the shrimp burger and I would definitely go for that next time! Messy but delicious. Love the fries and dipping sauces too. We also got deviled eggs as an app which was great and tiramisu for dessert. Perfect meal and great service! Definitely be sure to use the bathroom here if you visit - its too cute!
The vibes at fern are IMMACULATE. This is my go to for date night. It’s dark and romantic and the glass birds everywhere add to the mood. Sit at the bar and hopefully you will see bartender Andrew who is the sweetest bartender there. The staff there is awesome and the food is solid. Do yourself a favor and get the delicata squash, Caesar salad, and burger. Perfect amount for sharing with one other person.
Ferns has become our neighborhood go-to. Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner have been absolute pleasures for us. My personal favorites to eat are the burger (you can select one patty if you’re not that hungry) and their daily quiche special. Their bar service has always been spot on and their daily cocktail specials have been delightful and surprising. The decor is comforting and eclectic. The staff has been wonderful as well.
Really good spot for drinks and food. It’s a cool, woody/well, “fern”y vibe. The kale quesadilla with creamy lime sauce and salsa was great. The old fashioned was very strong too 😈
Excellent food, great ambience and above all else super service. Jorge was excellent and very attentive was a pleasure to have him as our host.
Went in there for brunch. It’s got a lovely warm decor and good service. The food wasn’t mind blowing though.
Lovely service! Good cocktails and a beautiful decor inside.Highly recommend if youre in the area
One of my favorite nyc bars! Love the plants and decor! And the drinks were awesome. Also, great for brunch!
Scrambled egg bowl with mixin selections was well seasoned and the eggs were on point. Brunch vibe was calm and nice with a good balance of noise from other tables in a wooden greenery themed establishment. Ill come back to fern.
Ferns is hands down our favorite brunch spot in NYC. Such warm, delightful and charming decor, and the service is always prompt, friendly, and efficient. They have one of the best Bloody Marys in the city and their fried chicken biscuit has become the standard by which all other chicken sandwiches are measured anywhere else we go. We havent been disappointed by anything weve tried, including the avocado toast with salmon or the Little Gems salad with shrimp. We never leave without having one of their doughnuts of the day, which are always airy and fresh. Im sure dinner is fantastic too, but if you havent been for brunch then make sure you put it on the top of your list. It seems you can often walk in, but we usually make a reservation because there have been a few times when they were all booked up, which should not be any surprise at all.
Cool atmosphere. Nice staff. Decent food. Some vegetarian options (could use more,) the buffalo cauliflower is actually great. Local musician Wyndham Baird performs here pretty regularly. Go for that reason and you won’t be disappointed. Great live music in the EV is a dying breed. Whatever the reason, Ferns works.
Love the brunch here, we came 2x to celebrate some special occasions. Monica, our server, was fantastic and she even remembered small details about our preferences a month after we came. I would say though, their best brunch item is the fried chicken sandwich and the french toast. And their fries are banging.
This place is great! Not crowded, service is so effin friendly especially for being an LES bar, let alone an NYC bar... PICKLES and DEVILED EGGS on the menu for small noshes; man, more places should do this.. this place is ahead of its time, I tell ya!!
I recently visited Ferns and had a great experience. The staff was wonderful and the atmosphere was calming due to the dim lighting and nearby vegetation. During the party time, there was a great selection of live music which I found very impressive. Overall, I would say that my experience was outstandingly exquisite.😘😍
Really cute cozy bar/restaurant. Went for a drink when they first opened, looking forward to trying their food!! Cute and romantic.
An amazing spot to get brunch or late night drinks! They never let me down and the staff is always really friendly and food/drinks are great. Interior decor is also really nice and it’s easy to make a reservation. Only thing I wish is that they had a bigger dinner menu! :)
Came here with the family. Ordered the Verde white wine from Portugal. I did not like it. Switched to the mezcal diablo which was much better. We ordered the Buffalo cauliflower, French fry basket, and steak tartare. Cauliflower was great, French fries were average, steak tartare was below average. Good flavor but so much going on, you totally lost the beef profile and wouldnt know you were eating tartare. Same with the shrimp burger and chk sandwich. Much better without the overpowering cabbage on shrimp burger. It was just too much of it, you couldnt taste the shrimp patty. After taking most of it off, it was so much better. The chk sandwich is good but so much other stuff going on you couldnt taste the chicken. Also the bun got really soggy and couldnt hold up to the burger. Service was good and ambiance was great. Very cozy and romantic for a great date night. Everyone was nice and accommodating. I would recommend but would try some other things.
First day back in the city and a must stop is Ferns. They always have the best atmosphere. Dara greeted us and sat us at a cozy booth. We started with the best espresso martinis in the city (thanks Stephan!) Our friendly server, Jackson, recommended the black bean quesadilla with shrimp- it was delicious! Thanks Ferns for a great evening.
Hello! We have been to Fern many times with nothing short than an amazing experience. Tonight, we were so excited to bring our friend from out of town when we landed. We walked in and went to the restroom then saw there was a room that looked like something we might have missed before. We went in to order and found out it was an event for a gentleman named Scott. We saw no sign or would have never entered, but No biggie. Went upstairs to sit at the bar for a drink and the server said we couldn’t stand and had to have ourselves individually in a seat. Again, not a big deal completely understandable. The bartender after taking over 5 minutes to acknowledge us said “ I will get you water. “ Of course, a normal experience at any bar in nyc. Then said “what can I get you guys to drink?”My friend ordered two old-fashions for my boyfriend and i. The bartender proceeded to cut my friend off and said he couldn’t serve my boyfriend because he looked like he was over served downstairs. We proceeded to tell the bartender with red glasses and a Hawaiian shirt on 5/18/24 that we just used the restroom and were not part of the private event and he continued to be completely rude to us.. especially my boyfriend. After he (the bartender) was already rude to the staff to clean the bar for us. We, without any kind of reservation, just left.I would like to point out the bartender judged my bf on his looks which were front being exhausted (no redness, no slurred speech, no lack of judgement, no issues with movement) bc he worked all day but wanted to take me out for my bday and my friend who had just landed bc we live close by…However, not many things are worth reviewing. This experience was worth explaining to future clientele and perhaps, hopefully the owner, that bartenders with better judge of character should be hired. This bartender we encountered took my boyfriends face as “drunk” when he hadn’t had any sort of alcohol in 2 weeks and instead of asking him “how many drinks have you had tonight?” ( which would amount to zero) continued to judge him and bring him down for the remainder of the night. My bf just ended up wanting to go home because of the bad experience. If you haven’t been here before, 10/10 not recommend.
Came here for brunch, left extremely satisfied. The watermelon gimlet was very refreshing, the coffee cake doughnut deliciously fluffy. The fried chicken biscuit almost made me believe in God again. So damn good. Our server was a real sweetheart, dont remember her name but brown hair and very personable and helpful. Oh, and the decor is eclectic cute, I LOVE the mismatched dishware, so freaking adorable. I felt like I was eating in the living room of a glamorous, well-traveled woman named Denise who just returned from a fling in Istanbul.I will be back. I will eat more fried chicken biscuits. Mark my words.
Amazing brunch. Must go
Little door protector on 12/14 is an absolute jerk, lost you 4 loyal customers because he decided to be unnecessarily rude before we even opened the door. I rarely write bad reviews, but get a grip!
The food was great but I would mainly come back to the bar for drinks!
Always have a great time at Ferns! The atmosphere and service never disappoint. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and make all guests feel comfortable. I have food allergies, and I know I will never have an issue here as they have many options and accommodations. Drinks are also top notch! Cant recommend more!
Super cute. We actually sat outside which was great. The stuffed French toast was delicious as was the egg and cheese biscuit. Our server was super attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Came here for brunch and was really pleasantly surprised by the fair prices, portion sizes, and quality of the food! Our server was also very kind and attentive. Not to mention, the indoor décor is really nice. Overall, just a really nice experience!
Mimosas and an adorable dog themed restroom!! Not to mention that the food is absolutely fantastic! It was so hard to make a choice but I felt I couldnt go wrong with whatever I chose. Solid service and delicious eats. I have been coming back here regularly and the server Holly makes me feel like Im visiting family for brunch. I cant love this place enough.
Wonderful staff and amazing vibes. Has a calming aesthetic of dim lighting and greenery hanging around. Very pleasant with a great choice of live music during their happy hour.
My mom and I enjoyed the rustic vintage scenery there. The hard working and kind service was excellent especially from Miss Grace and Mr Trevor. Brunch was amazing, my favorite was the yogurt and granola with sweet fruit. Thank you all so much, hope to come back real soon.
Updating my review because the menu changed:Cocktails are still good. Sadly they dont have an impossible burger anymore (its now a black bean quinoa burger) so I got the artichoke dip instead. Its... Odd. And comes not with pita but with what looks like challah French toast? Very confused. And sad they cut the menu item I love :(Previous review: Great cocktails, French fries, and their impossible burger is fantastic. Getting hungry thinking about it.
Delicious and adorable. Brunch on point 👌
Expertly crafted cocktails, great food served quickly and with a wonderful attitude. Playlist was straight banger after straight banger but not too loud for us to talk to each other. Great place to end an evening.
I have eaten here several times and everything has been amazing! Its a rather small menu but I havent ordered one thing I didnt like. The ambiance is great, very cute and cozy. The menu changes seasonally it seems but they usually have a dip on the menu that is incredible! Buffalo cauliflower and deviled eggs are also great. Service has always been good as well!
Magnificent. Must get the donut (we had the vanilla bourbon one). Excellent vibe, can’t wait to come back for another brunch.
Server gaslit me. I Ordered a regular burger but served a vegetarian burger. I asked if this was a non-veg burger, and was told yes, as if I was some oaf who does not know what ground god damn beef tastes like. And the veg burger I took a few bites of was trash - if i wanted veg done right I’d go to Superiority Burger.
Legit brunch place without boring meals! Loved the fried chicken biscuit (mind blowing!!) and the French toast. Delicious! Would recommend it and come back again for brunch.
The painkiller at ferns reminds me of the virgin islands! Favorite drink. However, it is only available during brunch. Service at the place was great!
Brunch was not great. $7 donut was not fresh. Quiche was very below average. $4 hot tea was a cheap tea bag.
This is one of my favorite neighborhood bars, they have a great happy hour, make solid cocktails, and serve tasty food (a lot of which is easy to share).I highly recommend the burger (beyond meat burger is solid also) and the asparagus! Also check out some of the plants more closely and you will see some of their clever names.
Our son and his girlfriend just moved into their first apartment together. To celebrate, they recommended Ferns, and we were not disappointed... Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted with friendly smiles and the smell of what we would soon discover to be amazing food and excellent signature cocktails 🍸Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏
Popped in to on my own and it was the perfect spot for a quiet drink. Nice wine selection, friendly staff and fantastic soundtrack: a relaxed playlist, noticeably different from so many others that insist on playing banging music on a Monday. Ill be coming back.
Food is great but saw a roach here. Staff hardly acknowledged it.
Overall rating: 4.9I’ve been coming here for yearrsss, maybe 2018/2019 or so. I’m only knocking off a point because I have only ordered the same thing each time I’ve gone.. 😬 Yes, I’m that committed.First, these espresso martinis… Top 3 NYC.Second, I’m not usually a fan of fried chicken. But I am obsessed with their chicken sandwich on a biscuit. Note: it’s only available during brunch time.Lastly, the atmosphere & vibe is just awesome. If you’re a plant lover, this is it. Go on a date. Go with your partner. Go with a group of friends. Go by yourself 💁♀️
Delicious cocktails and food. Staff didnt rush us, so we had a leisurely dinner. Enjoyed it!
Loved this place! The food was delicious & had a unique twist to it.
Most suitable for a boozy date night. The hostess went out of her way to ensure we got the best seats in the house.I wish I could remember the whiskey cocktail I ordered but it was top-notch.Keeps NYCs reputation of having the best cocktails alive!
Went here this past Saturday. Food was excellent and our server was great. We ordered drinks, but the bartender was too slow- I was watching him and he had no sense of urgency to get people’s drinks cranked out- our food already came and still no drinks so we just cancelled the drink order. The manager still brought us our drinks on the house!! Now that is what you call Customer Service!! Will definitely go back!
Very delicious!!! Great atmosphere, friendly people. Thank you!
This is a nice little spot. Plenty of room to not feel crowded in and get a seat while having a drink. The cocktail menu is well thought out and has some nice offerings. They also made me a spot on classic Martini. The food offering, although more limited, is quite good. The selection is an honest take on traditial American pob fare. Id recommend the pickled deviled eggs. They were as beautiful as they were delicious. Overall, would recoomrend if youre looking for a casual and relaxed bar atmosphere with a slection of tasty snack offerings.
Great bar for a cocktail & refreshments, honestly I didn’t think there was much you could do with bar food options but this place got creative and delivered an upgrade (wings and waffles, burger, deviled eggs etc). The staff is extremely friendly & will absolutely return.
Ordered a veg burger, which is not even vegan. As we asked for the vegan option, it came only a dry patty with fries, nothing else. And we paid the same than a complete full burger. None effort was made to offer us a satisfying dish.Good cocktail through.
If there was a 6 star they totally earned it. This is one of the best brunch dinning experiences I had in New York City. Everything about this restaurant was phenomenal, the ambience was very lovely, the lighting and decor was enchanting, incredible service and food.Every dish was very rich in flavor, fresh ingredients and an absolutely fantastic presentation. All the staff was kind, friendly and so welcoming.I ordered the Scrambled Egg Bowl with salmon and it was delightful. Everyone loved their delicious food choices and we ended up ordering two orders of French fries because they were AMAzING!!!They are open for brunch with great cocktails/drinks and lots of food. Catch the barista Danny in action. Only great vibes at the bar. We were captivated by his energy and happiness. I forgot the name of our server. She was such a lovely, charismatic, attentive and very professional lady.We really enjoyed our dinning experience. Every single detail was perfect. This was a memorable brunch!!!!
Beautifully decorated - I appreciate the fresh flowers and twinkling lights :) fantastic French toast. Great for a solo reflective breakfast.
Fantastic drinks! I had the Cucumber Collins and my husband had a Moscow Mule - some of the best we’ve had! Cute whimsical atmosphere with a store front that is the its name. A bit of a wait on Saturday night so recommend reservations but overall service was great.
Really quick and friendly service. The restaurant has all sorts of ferns as the name goes. Didn’t like the stuffed deer head (being an animal rights activist and all…) their happy hour drinks menu isn’t great but it’s decent
I love Ferns! All the greenery, wonderful bartenders. Had one of the best Manhattans Ive ever had here. I always leave thinking why dont I come here more often? Went in for the live blues music on a Thursday. Superb! Ordered the naan with hummus which was most excellent. It also ended up being their comedy night. (Every other Thursday.) Was laughing the whole time.
They just opened back up for brunch. The food was delicious. One of the best breakfasts meals in NYC.Great and friendly staff. Danny the bartender really loves his job and it shows. Make a reservation and enjoy!
Ferns is a bar with a kitchen in the East Village...read that closely...bar with a kitchen...meaning its mostly a bar with a kitchen that slings casual American eats.the interior is fairly relaxed and fun. neighborhood vibe. the plants outside are mirrored by smaller plants with puns for names inside. there are bar tables in the front food + drinks. a medium-sized bar filled with beer, wine and booze options as well as a signature cocktails. there are tables in back of the interior, i believe.came here for the Happy Hour menu as i was curious about the eats.ordered the cheeseburger + fries (happy hour price: $12). the burger was a solid 7 outta 10: meaty + cheesy + pickles & lettuce on a soft bun. i wish places would NOT top their burgers with lettuce and tomatoes as the burger patty heat just steams/cooks the veggies. the burger is cooked medium-ish as you cant order it rare, well, etc. or at least our waitress led me to believe so. the happy hour price of $12 for a good burger + ample pile of fries where you can also sit is a WIN in my book. the Great South Bay is an okay pilsner. the Sunday Beer is a watery light lager. each beer was $5 a pop. definitely order a beer from the normal menu OR tell them to rotate the current beers outta of the happy hour menu because they are meh/okay.my friend ordered the cheeseburger, heirloom tomatoes $13, and two beers...and thought Ferns was okay/good. then again he dropped $40+ at place where you should only order a burger and peace out: dum-dum. LOLthe service was attentive but as it got crowded. the service was superslow. it seems like this place is totally shorthanded. my advice is eat and drink here when it is not superbusy. and like i said earlier, Ferns is really more of a bar than a restaurant.drops mic cuz burger life is easy and cheesy
Jim took such good care of us, the drinks and food are incredible, try the deviled eggs and the cheeseburger! (The fries are excellent too!)
Cozy place for a brunch catch up with friends. The fried chicken biscuit was pretty awesome, would recommend to try!
Food was good and drinks were too.All in a nice ambience and vibe.
Nice place and they serve bottomless Mimosas for Lunch. Spent there our last morning in NYC with friends before we left and we had great food and a great experience.
Nice place for elevated bar food.
I used to love going to this place because of the vibes but there has been more than one instance where I have seen Tyler the manager disrespect and yell at the employees. It honestly has made me feel so uncomfortable and sad to see people be treated like that. I won’t be returning.
Look this place is fantastic. They have jazz a few nights a week and a great neighborhoody/hidden clubby kinda vibe. Drink and wine are great as is the upstairs and downstairs atmosphere. But I have to highlight the treatment of the impossible patty. Everton and every magazine boasts about the superiority burger but that is so tiny and simple compare to the treatment of it at Ferns. Wrapped in paper served with house cut fries no place to treat carnivores and Vega than their burger. The have regular beef patty and impossible as a double cheese or single. Just fantastic. The other items on their super simple menu are a delight. When U walk in u may say u need more on the menu but when u eat something you would say why? It’s the perfect variety of tastes for day and night. And google why it’s called Ferns. That’s cool as helll.
One of the East Villages best kept brunch secrets. Food is a cut above. The gem salad and fried chicken biscuit are must trys. Also great ambience. Very relaxing. And inexpensive.
Wonderful vibes, great food, fantastic service!! Well come again!
Its a great place to drink and enjoy the atmosphere! This is my new go-to place to listen to good live music and have some amazing drinks.
Great service, food, & ambiance ☺️. Sam and Tyler are amazinggggg 💜
Other restaurants that offer a lettuce wrap to replace a bun, or a gluten free bun, are playing themselves. This is *the best* lettuce bun I have ever had - not even to mention the phenomenal burger. 11/10 can’t wait to go back 👌🏼
James was phenomenal!
I absolutely love the vibe at FERNS. Im probably biased since I live in the area, but its one of my go-to places when I need a chill vibe with good food. Try their chicken sandwich or burrata appetizer. Cant go wrong with their Happy Hour deals either.
Really cute spot with a whole lotta plants! Theres often (really great) live music up front and the back of house is a little quieter. Their fancy drinks are yummy and a lil pricey (but standard for cocktails in NYC) and their tiramisu is KILLER.
There was an attempted stabbing here tonight i prolly won’t go back
This spot is an absolute gem! This place had all the vibes with great food and drinks. Dont forget to check out their restroom for the coolest decor 🐶
I had a reservation for two on a Friday night. First time trying Ferns! The hostess and our waitress were friendly and welcoming. They have a great happy hour menu (food and drinks). We got the sourdough bread basket and olives to start. It comes with three slices of bread and honestly enough butter to last a month. They offered to bring us more bread to go with our butter ($3 for more bread so that’s $4 worth of butter lol). Unfortunately our butter was taken from us before the extra bread came out. I am laughing just typing this. It wasn’t a big deal. They didn’t charge us for a coke refill so it’s like the extra bread cost didn’t matter. I appreciated that. But why so much butter!! The veggie slaw dog was huge and yummy. My fiancé’s enjoyed his burger and the fries are awesome!! I would definitely get the fries. They make a delicious Espresso Martini as well. I had already come from another happy hour - long week, don’t judge - so I opted not to finish it, but it was good. Very sweet. They also have a large and clean bathroom. Thank you, Ferns!
Gorgeous food! Excellent prosecco!
Great brunch spot! Super cute restaurant with really tasty food! I got the quiche of the day which was vegetarian and delicious! My friends got the stuffed French toast (pictured on the bottom right), the biscuit sandwich with bacon and eggs (top right), and the BLT (on the top left). The stuffed French toast was definitely the highlight but was quite large so could be shared! We also got a side of French fries for the table! Overall really good food and grewT ambiance!
One of the prettiest and coziest bar ambiences in the city! The drinks and food on the HH menu are good and cheap, they play great music too.
Love it! great HH deals! The inside/outside are both soooo cute/chic. Staff is attentive and kind. When I was there they had just opened and didnt have food yet, but Im excited to go eat there when they do! (You guys should get a Yelp/FB for more publicity.)
Ferns is one of the only hip restaurants where we could get a reservation for 12. We loved it! Fun vibes, good hearty food, and great service. The Impossible Burger was fantastic!
Great spot for a delicious brunch. The food is amazing and the staff is super friendly.
Food was really good, we got the buffalo cauliflower, burger and fries, and strawberry shortcake. I would highly recommend the cauliflower and the burger and strawberry shortcake were pretty good. The ambience is amazing though, with super cute decorations.
My go-to bar. I love their Moscow mules. The bartenders are extremely friendly. The interior is inviting and fun. Great spot.
Great avocado toast and get the fries to share
Super cute vibes, Great service and tasty food. Also good happy hour from 4-7 and jazz music!!
Great date spot, good ambience. Cute. Might be tricky to get one of the better seats but that’s a good problem to have if you ask me.
Great place/ambiance and staff was very helpful to me to retrieve a lost item!
Excellent happy hour deals on Sunday. Good cocktails. Nice vibe. Definitely a good place to enjoy some nice food and drinks.
Great ambiance for drinks. The service is good and the drinks are good as well. Well priced and highly enjoyable bar!
Super cozy, and amazing brunch! Love the staff and Holly specifically. She’s the best!
Great food and a very cool decor with a lot more space than you might expect! Well done experience!
What a great restaurant i live in the neighborhood and with all of the restaurants in the EV , this is my go to !Why? well the food is amazing the burger is actually Dry Aged which is one reason to eat here. everyone has burgers but not a dry aged burger! I sit at the bar usually ..and Yeoung (sp?) and Kaitlyn are nothing short of amazing, Professional, yet friendly and cool and smart and observant . Music is just righttoo i can’t say enough about this place ! btw their buffalo cauliflower is AMAZING…
Furnished with plenty of greenery as youd expect from the name. This gives a really pleasant vibe to the place. The food is pub style and is good quality.
One of my fave spots! Went last Saturday night for dinner and was shocked it wasn’t busier. Heirloom tomatoes with corn and feta was delish, and burger was top tier. Staff was lovely too!
Very good bar food and it is very clean and new inside.Buffalo Cauliflower, Chicken Sandwich, Fish Sandwich and Burger were all great.
Great service. Burger was truly amazing!! I thought about it often for days after.
Happy hour here is unbeatable. I regularly crave the Buffalo cauliflower. Live band is a plus too — sit outside :)
Great place, best gluten free bun on the burger I’ve had.Kaitlin and the team are excellent, great live music too.
Had dinner here during my trip. verry nice atmosphere, lovely food and great cocktails. staff is frendly en verry willing to help you. would definitely recommend and will tell my friends about it back in holland :).
Atmosphere in the summer was great, good service and the drinks were excellent. Food was really solid as well, especially the Buffalo cauliflower!
I think this place has the nicest employees ever !!!!! Also great vibes and drinks and snackies ❤️❤️ I am verklempt
Stephan is a very considerate bartender. Tended to our needs very well and had GREAT cocktail recommendations. Haven’t had service like this in a very long time. Happy to see that restaurants still care about their customers. Will come back just for him. If I could leave 10 stars I would. Good job guys :)
Great happy hour here. Try the mussels!
Reviewing as a bar, did not eat here. Oddly enough haven’t been here before but the vibe is great quirky decor with plants, many framed pictures and stringed lights. Small but good selection of drinks in a cozy environment
One of my favorite bars in the East Village - love the ambience, live music and mixed drinks. Also the fried chicken sandwich is bomb!
We had a very nice server and the food was good. A bit pricey but definitely not disappointing! Very cute atmosphere
Love Ferns. Great drinks and love the little baby Miller High Life. It can get packed on the weekends, but good vibes.
More of a bar, than a restaurant per se, but the food we had was solid
Mmmmmm great food great staff very welcoming did I say the food was bomb 2
Great cozy spot. Kind and accommodating staff. Awesome food and cocktails.
Come right as happy hour starts and enjoy the peace, quiet and the super attentive service. Christine at the bar is wonderful
Really chill spot for some food and spirits. The manager and staff are amazing. Would definitely recommend .
Great place and very fun happy hour options! Also loved the live music.
Great sandwiches and variety in brunch food!
Cozy , friendly & good food. Astrologer Approved
Try the pickled eggs. Delish. Felt like a dinner on a neighbors front porch. Warm, verdant atmosphere and fresh food.
The host only pretended to take my name and number down for a table that would take 10-15 minutes as he said. Never received any text notifications stating I was added to the queue. Seems about white to me!
Super cute vibes all around. lots of plants and pretty lights!! also, great happy hour deals.
Incredibly cute, great for conversation as the music isn’t loud and they have great happy hour!
Don’t get the tomato slice on your burger. It’s an extra $3 for a burger that’s already a pretty ridiculous $19 for what you get.
This is the go-to brunch spot for me and my choir mates after service. The food is always fresh and delicious, the waitresses are wonderful and will help with menu selections and the atmosphere is just homey and cozy.
They should let you add chicken or turkey to any salad
We made a reservation for a late dinner after work, made our way there in freezing temperatures, and then when we got there were ignored for 10 minutes at the door. When someone came I gave them my name and they didn’t have a table for us and went to talk to what I’m assuming was the manager. When they came back they said the kitchen was closed. It was so frustrating and they really didn’t care at all about how inconvenient and unprofessional the whole situation was. I wish they would have contacted me through Resy or something if they were planning on closing before my reservation time. Definitely not going back
We booked Ferns for a company happy hour and were incredibly pleased with it! Their team was very communicative, helpful, and made the process super easy from start to finish. I would definitely recommend hosting an event there!
Honestly…really didn’t like this place. The food was just not good. We got the cheeseburger and kale salad. The cheeseburger was made from ingredients that were low quality which negatively effected the taste. It just made us feel not good after eating. The kale salad was all over the place, not good at all. Didn’t feel fresh or healthy. The atmosphere and service were great though, but if you are going for delicious food, maybe try somewhere else
What a BRUNCH! super recommended. the french toast are a MUST
Had our engagement party here and could not have been better. Beautiful and intimate private room, lovely bartender who made great drinks all night, and delicious food options that kept all the guests happy. Highly recommend for any private event and will be going back to the normal bar very soon.
Classy joint. Relaxed vibe. Great HH and all day on Sunday! A must try.
Ferns has always been one of my favorite happy hour spots in the East Village. With its unique decor, delicious food (have a fried chicken sandwich), and wonderful cocktails, its a wonderful hidden gem in the heart of the neighborhood. I recently hosted an event in the basement for my non-profit and was met with excellent communication & service from start to finish. I would highly recommend Ferns to anyone visiting the city, planning an event, or just looking to have a cocktail with a friendly bartender.
Wonderful vibes (I went with friends, but would be an awesome date spot) and great burgers/chicken sandwiches. Good beer and cocktail selection, as well. Only knock is it feels a bit pricey relative to some other American bars in the area with similar menus ($7 for a side of fries, despite them being *very good*, seems wild to me). Ill definitely be back, just wish I could make it a more regular spot for dinner rather than just a couple beers.
Top marks all-around. Good service, very pleasant atmosphere and both excellent food and drink. Highly recommended.
So good! Highly recommend the happy hour food (dollar deviled eggs are a great snack.) also love the buffalo cauliflower and veggie burger.
Cutest place I’ve seen! Food, drinks and dessert are delish! And Jackson is a true blessing! Thank you Jackson! 😘❤️❤️
Super cozy, friendly staff, and just all around cool vibes for a happy hour spot 💯
Fantastic happy hour and servers are very friendly!
Awesome live music, great service, and delicious veggie burger!!
Best brunch in a long time. Fantastic Chenin Blanc!!!
My partner and I LOVE David. He’s amazing and provides the best service.
Food and ambience are quite good! No wonder theyre always busy. Recommend for brunch.
Very well designed, service was great. Can’t wait until the kitchen opens!
Had a lovely evening at ferns nyc. the energy and atmosphere was on point and the service staff (jackson and david) were stellar and made our night with their energy and friendliness. drinks were superb. def coming back. highly recommend.
I love ferns! Its such a warm and welcoming environment inside, with tasty food and fun drinks. The atmosphere is perfect for friends, dates, and more. Ive gone back a number of times and Ive always been impressed.
They hosted my brothers wedding reception and the drinks and staff was phenomenal!!!
We tried the fried chicken burger, deviled egg and fries. It was really good and would love to try it again. Not super crowded either. We would have preferred better tables, but thats just me being nitpicky.
FERNS offers a simple and straightforward menu. Both the chicken and biscuit (which we paired with honey butter and homemade jam) are moist. The bartender was accommodating and friendly.
We arrived in a group of five. They were open tables inside however, we were given a table outside in the cold. The only people sitting outside or from ethnic minority groups. When a table opened up inside she said that she would not seat us inside. We have been regular customers of the Belfry for many years. We expected better from Ferns. We will not be returning to this establishment.
Good food and good service. We were seated downstairs which was ok but not great. I would go back again.
Cozy fun spot. The BLT had some of the best ingredients of any BLT ever!
3 stars due to the service. And while it was actually good when a waiter came over the amount of waiting for drinks, food and general service was just lacking. Especially as they where not crazy busy. With that being said the food was very good. Everyone was happy. The drinks where decent too.Price wise its on the high side but then it is the east village.
Ferns was incredible. We were in the city for 5 days visiting and happened to drop in here while walking towards our destination for happy hour and got drinks, deviled eggs and the bread with butter. They were all excellent and priced very well especially for New York, I think the total bill was under $35 with tip for two cocktails and appetizers. This ended up being the only place we went to more than once during our trip, we had dinner our last night and the burgers and chicken sandwich were great. The burger with fries was also included in their happy hour discount. The atmosphere is an elevated dive bar with comfortable cushions on every seat and an environment that seems built for small group conversation, and the live music both nights was great too. The place lives up to its name with plants adorning the walls and the outdoor open patio. It felt like you were eating elevated South Carolina comfort food in a bar/restaurant that brings in the local crowd. I would highly recommend this place as it was our surprise favorite spot from our trip.
This place is insanely popular, even if you set up a reservation. And it is because the drinks, food, and service are all amazing. Even as under staffed as they were, they did their absolute best with maintainig courtesy, explaining the menu, and informing any off menu items/limitations.Its a lovely brunch spot. Dont pass up eating here. :)
Awesome food and excellent service.
Came here after the kitchen closed, server gave me extra pickles with my martini.
Great atmosphere, super friendly service, and great prices! Awesome happy hour too.I only docked them one star because the first time I went I ordered a cheeseburger with a gluten free bun, but it was served to me with a regular bun. Luckily the waiter noticed and they took it back and re-made it for me, but if the waiter werent so attentive it could have been really bad!Because of other experiences I have had there since, I truly believe that was an isolated incident, hence the high rating still!
Live music, great cocktails, excellent bartenders.
Fernie Sanders is absolutely my favorite! The music was fantastic!
Great Shrimp Burger, friendly waitresses.
Nice looking environs in Village and a great spot for brunch! Three of us each had stuffed waffles, exquisite scrambled eggs and a shrimp burger with hot coffee, cold brew coffee and Chai tea. The waffles went all the way around and were nothing short of delicious, stuffed with a granola mix and topped with an assortment of fruit and berries and drizzled with chocolate. The shrimp burger was made like a crab cake with whole shrimp fixed into a patty topped generously with lettuce and sauce with avocado on the side. I didnt try the scrambled but they looked Devine. Full bar and different menu for dinner. Week be back
Lovely food, good service, cozy place. Will definitely go againThe only thing that surprised me was a 3 percent surcharge for credit card transaction. Never been charged for that in NYC before. Didnt realize that was a thing.
Not a fern in sight but plenty of other greenery and great food
Easily one of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. The decor is super cute, homey & tastefully done. The environment is usually pretty laid back the staff is SUPER considerate. Also, I really enjoy the music played here!If youre in LES, 100% go & check this spot out!
Unqiue atmosphere, good place to hang out and realx with friends.
Always nice to visit my grandsons lower east side neighborhood with lots of eateries like this one to enjoy.
Was my first time, but the food was awesome. Would definitely go back again
Pretty spot. Went here for a private birthday party downstairs.. very cute decor/ photo-opp friendly. Ventilation downstairs wasnt that great and only two private bathrooms for the whole place. Drinks were good and nice atmosphere.
Love the space and the plants gives this bar a great vibe.
It was Cinco De mayo and a friend & I wanted to enjoy the lower east side atmosphere. Probably not a great idea for us mature ladies. We wound up at Ferns after walking around for an hour with every place too crowded. Ferns main floor was overcrowded too but offered their basement lounge. There was a lovely bartender who made a great Margharita in the most boring basement bar Ive ever experienced. The good news, we could hear each others conversation.
Love the environment here to meet a girl for a drink and some food!
Amber is such a nice and kind bartender ♡♡
Best bartenders and drinks in the area! Always stop in when we are in town and it never disappoints!
What a lovely gem, not crowded for Saturday brunch. Bright, airy, every dish we saw go by I wanted to try. We were brought here in my quest to try the new Impossible Burger 2.0 which was not a disappointment (but honestly I wish Id gotten the fried chicken sandwich when I saw it). My wifes salad had delicious green goddess dressing and ample avocado and her scrabbled eggs were fluffy and delicious. Well definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
Hidden gem on 1st ave by stuy town! Just when you think theres not much in the area, this place pops up. The inside is very nicely decorated. They have a small but good selection of cocktails, wine, and beer. My server was extremely nice as well. Great place for drinks at night.
The place is well below its current rating. Ordered a burger. Looked like two Patties from White Castle. The fries were terrible. No tastes and hard.Staff is nice but just to inexperiencedWon’t be back
My friends and I go to Ferns every Wednesday for dinner/drinks. Drinks are on point - the spicy passionfruit margarita was my go-to for a while but now I’ve moved on to the strawberry coconut fizz. They have the best picklebacks (spicy option is fire), and I don’t even like whiskey or pickles. I’m a huge fan of the mussels and artichoke dip as well. The service is incredible, they’re super friendly and treat us like family. Highly highly recommend Ferns
Best brunch spot in the LES
I love this place. Its kind of a hole in the wall and theres always space available to hang out and chill with friends. Drinks are excellent and clean. Bartender is super friendly and gave all our friends a shot on the house. Definitely my go to for a chill night out with friends.
Great food and great service. Good for kids and small groups. Walking distant form tourist area.
Staff was a little over attentive probably trying to flip the table despite us still buying several rounds of drinks an hour, but the food was great and we weren’t wanting for quick refills.
Fantastic atmosphere and excellent service. Got the burger and it was cooked to perfection. Also went on a Wednesday with live jazz music. Overall great experience and would highly recommend
First of all I would like to say the staff and venue atmosphere is really good but the food wasnt all that impressive, frozen cheap fries with a very mediocre burger which had little to offer in flavour. Shake shack have better burgers in my opinion
