Stopped by on a Sunday evening strolling around the city and found our way into this lil bar. It was super cozy and chill with not many people there. Ray at the bar was amazing and so kind, we chatted about games and he had actually brought some chill easy games to play and we had a fun round on hive on the bar. What a nice time!

Woke up far too late in the afternoon from a night of partying and this order was my remedy for the day. The burger was juicy and cheesy. The fries were very decent and seasoned well. The wings were definitely the best part of the order. Crispy, spicy, and moist, without being drowned in sauce or burnt dry. My health is restored.

The pickle’s were fried to order which was delicious. The vibes were great and we brought our kids for a quick snack and the staff was so nice to them.

When the security guards are looking to fight anyone. Not good. Moe who is an alleged Felon loves looking for a fight and that’s the vibe of this place. I’m a patron who went there for years but I’ve seen this place getting worse and worse and worse. Sad to see an establishment go down like this. I won’t be going back.

Nice hole in the wall dive spot. My kind of atmosphere. Only gripe was the 2 drafts I wanted were both out.

Sketchy bar thats cash only with subpar drinks and rude staff. Left my bag there by accident after spending $100s at this place. Called them shortly after leaving so they could hold it off to the side and when I got it back, the staff had stolen multiple watches and all of my cash from the bag. Absolute joke, go to any other dive bar for a better experience where your items wont get stolen and the toilet looks like its been cleaned during the past year

Cherry Tavern is perhaps the most misogynist place in NYC. Every single time I have been there men have yelled at me for nothing. I’ve gotten yelled at for being a Karen while i was just talking to the bartender as if he is not gen X and I am gen Z. I didn’t ask any questions ever. I just said yeah I’ve been here before. Last time I was there these 5 foot men were threatening us. I’m 21. It is an offense to women that this point and they should be closed. I’ve never been there and not been harassed and disrespected. It is the home of men who drink IPAs and talk about women as objects. Hope this affects your opinion as they have simply ruined multiple nights of my life.

Delicious wings! I’m from the Buffalo area and these wings were spot on! Juicy, buttery, crispy, spicy with a slight tang! TV’s with sports, a pool table for fun, and all your Dad’s favorite beers. Come here for good times, comfort and tasty food!

I love the bartenders in this place, and the vibe is just right. TV is kept with volume down. The music is good (but not overly loud) and the clientele is a real cross section of age-groups etc,,,

WE MISS YOU KIM!!! Kim was an O.G. bartended here who moved on, but on given nights the place still gets jumping....sometimes. the new ladies try to ressurect the old vibe, but with NY changing, I fear this place is lost in time. GREAT jukebox, and drink specials, try the Old glory or Tecate special (drink and a tallboy)

If you want a dive bar that resembles NYC, this is your bar. The staff are as real as they can be. They take cash/venmo, give you your drinks, and leave you alone.Somebody at the bar tried to stir up drama and potentially start a fight, but fortunately it did not escalate and ended up with a get out of my face for no reason. That made it feel like a true NYC experience. Its the most OG and NYC dive bar Ive been to in the city. If you want the true NYC experience come here. Just be careful not to mess with the locals!

I kept seeing that old fashioned font out front and finally stepped in a few months ago. Was very much a dive bar local hangout spot. The pool table had some very spirited bluster going on between a few bros, but the rest of the place seemed pretty chill. I especially liked the jukebox, but I left before my song came on (or maybe it doesnt work after all). My curiosity is satisfied and I doubt Ill ever go there again, but for the locals itd be a nice spot to unwind.

This is a place thats been in the neighborhood since the seventies, at times famous or infamous, in front of which today you can see middle-aged new yorkers on Citi Bikes stop their companion to recall an unforgettable night from another decade. People like to say its changed but it is what you make it, and its heart-warming to watch people make those memories to this day. Cherry Tavern is an empty vessel - fill er up!

Im all for a dive bar, but I will not be visiting this bar again. The bartender was rude. My friend & I the only two patrons in the bar and I heard the bartender loudly complaining on her cellphone about how she didnt want to be there serving us. I ignored it, had two drinks and went to another bar in the area. The jukebox & cheap drinks were the only draw, but our bartender even turned down the music, so she could read. There are better dive bars with cheap drinks, Id suggest avoiding this one!
