The this here were delicious. I highly recommend the shrimp tacos. The ambiance, wall art/murals and dance hall were all very Aztec and beautiful. My friends and I loved the DJ, the esters were friendly and again food was great. Now the drinks, Id skip. I did not enjoy it at all. May want to change the bartender or drink itself. Not sure. 4 stars for sure.
We (group of 4) had a sampler of four flavored pulques: mango, strawberry, pineapple, tamarind. We liked the pineapple and tamarind best. They do mix with white tequila (Puerta Negra/Black Door) to give it a little kick since the pulques bottling process changes the fermentation process. We also tasted the original pulque flavor. We ordered the Molcajete, which had chorizo sausage, steak, chicken, shrimp, and nopales (cactus), all sizzling in a sauce in the volcanic molcajete bowl. Also tasted the tacos al pastor. They served it with a good portion of diced sweet pineapple, and it wasnt greasy.Service was great as they were constantly checking to see if we were ok, needed anything, and cleared the table of any used plates.
Fun Mexican restaurant with an underground bar. We ordered the Fiesta tacos to try different options. Surprisingly the best ones were the chicken tacos. There is a bar next to the restaurant with a fun vibe. It lightens up after 11:30.
Having a Latin place for drinks and food in Chinatown is a game changer. The vibe is cute and the classic essence of Latin culture. What makes this place a gem is the hidden pathway to get in there. Makes it more vibrant. The food was delicious! The tuna tortas were so good we had to go for two orders of them! The pitchers aren’t as strong as we’d expect, so if you want a good strong drink stick to what you know. I had to get the mezcal pina and that drink by itself did justice over the pitcher. I loved the music and the service was amazing. They were attentive without being too much and the servers knew their menus to recommend which tacos to get since I’m a taco fanatic. Like always I go for the birria tacos and they did not disappoint. Our favourite was the Aztec soup which is highly recommendable! The flavours that capitulate your taste buds are everything. Then we ended the night to their dance floor room to end the night, so if you want to have fun afterwards (post 9:30pm), then you’ll enjoy a night to eat and a good night for dancing. Highly recommend!
Enjoyed the vibe here. Staff was friendly and the drinks were really interesting. Tried their homemade michelada mix, pulque (agave wine) and margaritas. Didn’t have any food, but that is a option. Great spot. Would go back.
Personally I love the fact that this is an underground Latin restaurant in Chinatown. The concept is just fiyaaaa. You find the place by walking into the blue light haha and going down the stairs. The Vybz are right and the Latin music was slamming. Recommended by my girl and it delivered. The atmosphere as I mentioned above is right! The ceviche though did not hit, Im sorry. Needs work, felt very watered down. The rest of the food was flavorful and good. The cocktails were very good, I would definitely return. OHH and it turns into a night club late into the night.
I love this place for drinks because you can tell the bartenders love their craft. Food is good here and the late night atmosphere is pretty dope. Its a little hidden and its not a storefront so you might venture right passed it and not realize such a cool place exist.
Just celebrated a birthday of a friend here and it was wonderful! The service and the ambiance was fantastic. A big shoutout to the server assistant Miguel who made it special with a funny request we had! Thank you so much Miguel and the entire staff!P.S.the food was amazing too! Forgot to mention the food!
Lovely place with great food! Waiting staff super rude though! They wouldn’t let half of the people from my reservation to get in. Plus they basically just kicked us out at 2! Lovely food though
Hidden gem if you get there early enough. Service is fun and friendly. Drinks are tasty yet not too strong. Good for when avoiding hangovers. Good selection for feeding groups.
Great place was pretty dry for a Friday night. Drinks aren’t too expensive our bar tender was very friendly and made drinks quick only thing I didn’t like were the drinks were not strong it was 80 juice 20% tequila which is alright but there should be a option if you want it on the sweeter side or stronger side. Other then that it was a good time with friends
The best place ever, excellent culinary experience. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the ambiance welcoming. Well definitely be back soon. Thank you for a memorable evening!
I had been here before in the past and really enjoyed it sadly my most recent experience was just ok. Some items we ordered were good and others just ok. The drinks were also just ok for me, I wish I had a better review. The happy hour historically has been pretty good but please know it’s only Tuesdays and Wednesdays…that info was very hard to find ahead of time.the staff was very friendly and their habanero hot sauce was very good.
Food - The food was fairly seasoned, but my mom asked for a corn tortilla and they still gave us a flour one. We asked to verify and she said it was corn. My flour one and the corn one looked the same. One of the sauces tasted like watered down thousand island dressing.Service - Our waitress was very nice. I dont know if it was a miscommunication or something, but we ordered esquites and we didnt get it to the table.Atmosphere - It was dark which I like. The music kind of clashed with the decor, but thats just my personal preference. When we entered we were the only people in there. Then more people came and they sat them right next to us. Why if the whole restaurant is empty do we still have to be near someone?
Celebrated my birthday here with a huge group of 26 people. I was in contact with Oscar and he was awesome and very accommodating. Our server was so lovely- she was always on it! Oscar also came to check on us multiple times. The food from the prefixed menu was delicious 10/10 - wish there was more! Honestly it was so good we inhaled it 😁 love coming here too because after dinner we move over to the next room for drinks and dancing! Great night!
Cool, secretly excellent, the bar is awesome, the drinks more than great, the food scrumptious!
Pulqueria throws the greatest private parties. They made everything celebratory, and the prix fixe meal was delicious. We followed it up with a night of dancing. Highly recommend for birthdays or bachelorettes! Thanks to the whole staff!
Mediocre food, drinks and music 😏 This place should really focus on paying their employees and ex employees. Imagine going to a restaurant where employees are working hard for their tips and haven’t been paid for weeks, where does their hard earned money go ? DOL really needs to visit this spot I’m sure they’ll have fun.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Service is quick and the tacos are excellent. Pineapple Marguerite was excellent too!
Cool atmosphere. Nice drinks and delicious food.
Great Place in the Middle of Chinatown!Food was amazing 🤤😋
I appreciate they’re trying to be a pulqueria, but then having a single bottled pulque doesn’t make them a pulqueria any more than a 7-11 having beer makes them a brewery. Paid $30 for a mezcal and the orange garnish had already been used for its zest. Didn’t eat here. There are such better, more valuable places for Latin vibes than this spot. Cool atmosphere, but service, price and drinks were all a miss.
Food was very average. Drinks sucked. What I really didn’t appreciate was the rushing to kick out my party (of 4) with a fabricated excuse that someone had reserved our table and that they were here (there was no one waiting). The restaurant was half empty with plenty of open tables for both big and small amounts of people and the bar only had about 2 people seated. Half an hour before this they were rushing us that we needed to leave soon as well. We didn’t even get to order desert so that’s lost money on their part. To make it worse they have a stupid $3 fee per card when the bill is split by more than 3 ways. Ridiculous. Never coming back. If you want over priced average food and to be rushed while eating it, this is the place for you!
Went to dinner and it was a fantastic experience. The restaurant was full but the service was top notch! The busboy especially was very attentive and took really good care of our table! He was funny and honestly took the experience to another level. Thank you Miguel! We will be back soon!
First time here . Visiting from MinneapolisVery refreshing and tasty 😋
Didn’t try the food since we were bar hopping. The drinks were nice and strong. The Music was good and I liked the atmosphere. Will be back!
A hard to notice place next to the tea parlor. Nice outdoor seating on the street, booze in a bag and ok service.
Great margaritas, food was tasty but small compared to price. Ambiance is cute and cozy . This place is a hard find its snuggled in the alley way of good old Chinatown once you get in you will be shocked and how much bigger it really is. Margaritas are Gooooddd and strong. This place is a good place for date night or a get together with friends. I will definitely be coming back to this establishment:)
Shhhh, dont tell anyone about this place or we will never get a table there again! This is a hidden gem of NYC and if you skip the happy hour, you should call your therapist for a psychiatric evaluation because you are clearly crazy! Their margaritas are the best in NYC, well I really should say Their pitchers of margaritas are the best in NYC since Ive never gotten them one at a time. Their guac and fish tacos will make you want to fist fight your grandma if she tried to touch yours! Insider tip: Sit at the high top table for people watching and it doesnt hurt that its closer to the bar either. Weve been going there for almost 8 years (is that possible?) and Ive never had a bad experience. WAIT...except this one time a bunch of influencers came in and decided to take over and turn the place into an instagram photo shoot. (Deep breath) The waiter took pity on me and my hubs who were there having a nice night out and noticed the instagram crew going a bit too far with their food photos, and immediately brought us over some tequila shots, and then two more, and then two more. lol. That turned into a freaking hysterical evening that my hubs and I will never forget. Food: Exceptional. Drinks: What drinks? You mean pitchers?: Mind Blowing. Staff: They are my brothers from another mother! I love them! So yeah, head down the steps and dont think twice like I did the first time someone recommend we go there. Wait, what? There are no windows? Im claustrophobic! I said. Trust us? They said. They were right. I love this windowless place! I never feel guilty about drinking early anymore. lol. #itsfiveoclocksomewhere
This place was amazing. I loved the ambience and the location. Definitely unexpected but a good refresher from the local Canal Street area. The server was so kind and courteous. She had great recommendations. Go for the pescado tacos, and the chicken was great too. We got a shot of tequila that was off the menu. Very traditional Corralejo tequila shot. The server helped us get it. Honestly one of the best places around thats a hidden gem.
Love the gimmick and the food is actually good too. Not blow your mind good but but tasty and fresh. The chips and guacamole are great. Tacos are pretty good. I had the pork belly sandwich which was fantastic. Will def return and highly recommend. Make sure to make reservations.
Terrible place, we had a goodbye NYC party for my friend and they basically kicked us out because someone else “payed more money” to come after us … do not step a foot in here, not worth it at all. Food is sub par, service is anemic and then they kick you out “because they didn’t expect you to stay more than a couple of hours and someone else paid more” … with no heads up at all, never setting foot in this hole of a place again!!! And you shouldn’t either … there’s so many better Mexican places around such as Papatzul, Fonda, La Esquina or even Los Tacos No 1 for casual and amazing tacos, just don’t come here not worth it at all!
Favorite place to go to, the food is always amazing, and the sangria is perfectly made. They have a DJ on weekends. Certainly a hidden gem in Chinatown. 10/10 Recommend!
Decent Mexican place in Chinatown. Food is ok. Drinks are good. Vibe is great. Service is awesome.
I have just been to the bar area, so this is not a food review!! The music was great, the environment was awesome, everyone was dancing and it was not only latinos, which I appreciate the diversity in these type of bars. I would truly reccommend if you feel home sick, or if you want to dance, or also if you just want to have a good time.
Perfect Happy Hour spot as it is a hidden gem (a little hard to find if you dont know precisely where it is - and the dark stair entrance way may seem a bit sketchy, but I promise its not!) and is quiet until later in the evening. The bartenders were nice, the sangria was probably the best Ive ever had, and the tacos were equally delicious. I will be back!
My wife and I had our first date there 5 years ago. We went back several weeks ago and the food and service was wonderful my issue was the ambience. The lighting was wayyyy to bright for a late evening dinner. I remember our previous visit was dark and sexy with candles lighting the tables. If you are going for the food and a nice mezcal infused cocktail then totally worth it.
Great place for simple choice mexican food. The menu option is very simple and limited. Plate sizes are small. On tuesday night, the happy hour is all night, on limited food and drink items. The food item is four dollar taco and reduced priced drinks at reduced size glass. The milieu setting is great for a little underground hide a way.
One of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to, and I would argue I am very picky. Everything is hot, fresh, authentic and delivered by the nicest staff- especially Santiago!
Great drinks and super nice place with fantastic bartenders.
Such a lovely Mexican Restaurant in China Town! Highly recommend this to anyone in New York! It was recommended to me by my cousin sister as my uncle had researched into it! The tachos are lush! Super yum.
Amazing experience! I went with a big group of friends and it was great. Amazing drinks and super good dj! The ambience was amazing and it was a great night. Will for sure come back!!!
I love this place, the food was awesome! Great services, good environment! This is a good place for share with your friends.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in NYC. Its a bit ironic that its in a dark alley in Chinatown but thats besides the point. Their food is so tasty but its a bit expensive. I like their tacos and tostadas. Their margaritas are great but their pulque drinks are more of an acquired taste. I tried it once and it just didnt appeal to me. Try to get a reservation if you can since it gets crowded here late at night.
The mashed potatoes are made out of life itself. Order this and you will be both happy and sleepy.
What can I say !!! We had a blast . Linda did phenomenal with ordering our meals and drinks .. she really took care of us like nothing I’ve seen before please let her know she’s amazing and went over and beyond for your party . The DJ kept everyone going and make sure to play the best of what’s hot right now ! Thank you Linda !!!!!
Authentic Mexican food with full flavors, perfect portions and thoughtful presentstion. Was not informd of kitchen closed and check was cloced bedfore any heads up. Service is always on point; friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean and safe environment
Cool underground spot. They have a nice little cocktail menu and offer Pulque, which should be obvious from the name of the restaurant 😅 the food is good, I had good service the 2 times that Ive been here and they have happy hour drinks and bites. Its moderately priced not your typical inexpensive Mexican fare, but its a nice experience and the plates are well prepared and presented.
This cavernous restaurant tucked in the bowls of Chinatown. The non-descript staircase leads to a dimly lit entry. On the Thursday night we went the place wasn’t crowded but certainly groups of people all looking like they were having fun. The hostess asked if we had reservations, which we did not. She looked perplexingly and stared at the seating chart for a good 5 minutes when there was plenty of open tables just beyond. After the strange awkward 8 minute wait as we all stood their staring at her she lead us to a corner banquette table. Our server was fun college kid was energetic and asked us to anything to drink and starters. The pitcher of margarita class sounds good as well as the guacamole and chips. We got and order of pescado and gringas tacos and the cemita as entrees. The margarita was very good. Good flavor, not overly sweet and had a strong kick just the way we like it. The guacamole had a hint of hotness but the portion was a bit on the small size. The tacos were equally as good but equally as small. It certainly wasn’t the 6” as described by our young server. I’ve had 6” and this wasn’t 6”.Pulqueria has a nice ambiance. Dimly lit with light music in the background but still easy enough to hold a conversation. The food quality was also very good but I find the price to food ratio was a bit expensive. $14 for a small guacamole and $15 for three small fish tacos that certainly wouldn’t be enough if you were hungry but I guess they are hoping you would just load up on the drinks instead.
Pulqueria is a Mexican joint hidden downstairs on Pell in Chinatown, with a bar side and a dining side. Its small, but authentic, loud, but fun and the waitstaff are so darling! Horchata and Guacamole, amazing! Im sure the tacos are delicious as well, but I didnt have any. Definitely make reservations because its popular and there were many large birthday groups there.
10/10 place! Great bar tenders, amazing drinks and even better time!
Pulqueria is a trendy, modern Mexican cantina located at 11 Doyers Street, Chinatown in Manhattan, New York. They serve excellent Mexican cuisine and great drinks. It looks like a dungeon since it’s underground. It’s cozy and a wonderful place to go with a couple of friends or family. Sadly it has been permanently closed consequence of the pandemic.
The key to getting in without a reservation is getting there early before 9pm. What I like the most is the ambiance with a great rotation of DJs and live bands. The food is delicious Mexican. The drinks are really overpriced and forgettable. The micheladas and tequila tastings are the best bet.
Excellent service, loved the food , amazing place to enjoy w friends.!.! Tku staff so nice people
This is a great Hispanic vibe in the middle of Chinatown. Great latin music on a Friday night with lots of salsa, reggaeton and some american dance music. The place is small and cozy, beware that you will find yourself having a good time with a lot of strangers. If you come in a group and you all like margaritas I suggest getting the pitchers instead of individual drinks. One margarita is around $15 and the pitchers $50-$60 and they will get you around 8 drinks.
It never fails as one of the best places to enjoy Mexican food and party. I missed they didnt have Frozen margarita but their service was so kind that made us have such a good time
What a lovely place. The people are nice, food is great. Our favorite tacos1. Camarones grilled2. Pescado fried3. GringasAnd you have to try the smoking gun margarita. For dessert the tres leche. Our waitress Patricia was so nice and did give us the best reccomadation for the food and drinks.I will go back to this place when I visit New York again.
Surprisingly found my new favorite Mexican place on Doyers Street in Chinatown. The place is large and has lots of tables for gatherings. The food offered was pretty standard and not too special or interesting but was good quality.
I love any hidden spot, and this one doesnt disappoint. Great ambience, delicious food and drinks! Only reason its not 5 stars is the service wasnt too impressive, but overall it was a fantastic experience!
Greta drinks good food, and the best part of it the great service provided by Luisa, the bartender.
A must try!!!!!! this place is just a hidden gem. Tacos are AMAZING we had the taco fiesta and I was blown away. I’m definitely coming back. Low key dancing place too Saturday night. Great music. I love it.
This place was my favorite secret weapon, I feel so honored to have found it, A diamond in the rough in the heart of Chinatown.. it’s INCREDIBLE, vibe, food, drinks, and music. I used to describe this place as you walked down stairs that it was like you were being teleported to a Mexico. After quarantine, of ALLLLLLLL the places in New York, I hope this place makes it.If i find out it closed, it will be one of the saddest days.
Nice little place to get some tacos or nachos and some drinks. On the expensive side for me personally, but its not crazy. Id go back.
Really the most awful experience I have had in bars and restaurants in New York in the four years Ive lived here. First, we were greeted by aggressive bouncers (why bouncers on Doyers?), who should really consider working security at Rykers. We were moved around twice while at the restaurant, also by rude staff. The best detail of the evening was the abundance of white guys in Mariachi and Mexican hats, seemingly provided by the restaurant itself. I could have gone to South of the Border for a better experience. For reference, this was a Thursday evening at around 7, not particularly busy, and my friends and I are 30+.There are much better Mexican spots in the city, unless you thrive in this sort of environment.Update Oct 11 15:28 EST in response to owner below:- Whatever the day of the week - your bouncers are harassing your customers. I wish you had addressed this in your comment. You should check out the reviews on Nymag and the Infatuation - there are plenty others with the same complaint. It’s a real shame because your drinks are great despite your awful choice in bouncers and staff.- My friends and I are all Mexican and Mexican American who love travel and good food — we certainly didnt feel as honored as you do, the non-Mexican owner. Well take our business to Atla, Casa Enrique, Cosme and the other Mexican-owned establishments that far exceed the quality of service to be expected at yours.
The perfect combination to an amazing night. Great food and drinks on one side…then go to the party on the other side with a live DJ and lots of dancing. Some of my best nights have been in Pulqueria. Margaritas are the best here !!!! Must visit for a great night with friends and family!!!!!!
Only had drinks, which left a lot to be desired. They also ran out of pulque, which is the only reason we were interested.
Very good food, I really recommend them, the great drinks, very good atmosphere, the excellent service, the staff is first class, very friendly, the managers are very attentive, very polite, always very kind, I recommend you visit it..
I celebrated my birthday few days ago here. The food is amazing, great mexican food. Everything was very very good, delicious. I loved the ceviche, Yuca bites which comes with the rib eye.Be patient with service, and drinks please. I wish this will get better soon.If you want to dance, talk with the Dj, and tell you want to party, he will absolutely turn this on. I had a great time dancing here
Over priced and over rated. The actual pulque you receive here is watered down/diluted with the after taste of it turning. Ive had authentic pulque from Atlixco, Puebla. And this here my friends is fermented pineapple juice with a splash of mezcal. The food could be better, but hey after a few rounds anything does down like its a 5 star bar.
Very cute and well hidden little spot. Gives you a speak easy feel as you walk down the stairs from the narrow off street of china town.Food was delicious.
Amazing place to eat and to have drinks. I had Gringa Tacos and they were amazing. I would recommend this place 💯.
Omg it was so embarrassing. They where so rude and they kick us out the restaurant after we finish eating and we had more people coming and they couldn’t even eat. They rush us out and they lady’s at the front desk where very nasty. They did not told us that the limit of hours we had or anything after we finish eating they told us there is another reservation and waiting for the table. I felt so embarrassed. You don’t do that. It was a lack of information, under staff. It was horrible
First time at this establishment and first time trying pulque. The bartender was very informative and helped me make a choice as to which pulque to try.
Classic pulque taste ok, very watered down though. Mixed pulque drinks was terrible. Was excited to have found a place in NY with pulque unfortunately it was short met. Drinks and food overpriced, $9 per taco ???$18 for 2 small tacos ???? $18 for watered down pulque??? So disappointed. Taco portions were very small, tortilla was cold, meat was too greasy. The interior design was very well done. Staff was very friendly.
Great for drinks, closes a little too early, but the music and environment to dance is amazing
WATCH OUT!!!! check your credit card statement! They increased the tip amount when they charged my card. I’m pretty sure they call that stealing…
Great food and atmosphere, amazing drinks and music.
Paloma left a lot to be desired.Prices did not match board outside the bar.
When you hear a place is a “rare gem” especially a Mexican food joint in Chinatown we were skeptical. Let me tell you we were BLOWN AWAY with the food and service by Pablo and the owner Max!! Really glad we ventured into this place and would highly recommend them!! Max also showed us his upcoming nightclub that we plan on going to when we come back to NYC!Thanks for a GREAT time Max, Pablo and staff!!
Pulque flights so delicious
There are two types of underground restaurants in this town. Some are hidden gems flying deliciously beneath the radar devoid of attention or press. Then there are the restaurants underground by design; hard to find and literally built in dark alleys yet simultaneously running well-oiled PR machines screaming for attention from the blogosphere. Pulqueria falls firmly in the latter camp. Noisy, contrived (the staff seemed to all share the same optometrist and urban outfitters catalog), and crowded, Pulqueria might be a total miss if the food wasnt so damn tasty...Petite yet packing a punch of flavor conchinita pibil tacos, excellent guacamole, and incredibly creamy Mexican street style corn (this time shucked for you.) The cocktail lists twist is a focus on drinks using Pulque, aka tequilas lesser known fermented cousin. I wonder if Pulque hopes to remain a local secret or is as screaming to be discovered as this place is.
Nice hidden Mexican restaurant. Had pork tacos which were delicious and tender. Super cute atmosphere and fun vibes. Defs gets loud
Very nice place. The food is amazing and the music is lit. Plenty of atmosphere. A bit overpriced tho!
Sitting at the bar, wonderful service & an incredible pulque de mango. Cute little place in Chinatown.
Great atmosphere and staff. Food was awesome 👌. Will be back to visit.
Cool little spot! I had a mezcal margarita. It tasted nice and clean and fresh. The space is nice. Check it out.
I had a great experience at this place. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with friendliness that set the tone for my stay. Everyone was very attentive and accommodating. The atmosphere was just perfect. Overall, I highly recommend it for anyone looking for delicious food, a cozy and lively ambiance, a diverse selection of drinks, and a bit of dancing.
Excellent bar. Moderately priced drinks. Once you open the doors you to be pleasantly surprised.
This is the best Mexican place in Chinatown hands down I will come back
Great spot for an after dinner drink. Then turns into a dance party! (We didn’t stay for that)
Definitely a romantic kool vibe and fresh Mexican food , stumbled on this place accidentally after leaving a noisy Chinese spot .
I love to find surprises like this one! The food delicious and the sangria SUPERB!
This awesome place is tucked away in Chinatown and has some of the citys best drinks. Cheers to an incredible bartender.
Perfect spot!!!! Great music great vibe, bartenders are great and they do really good and creative cocktails 🍸
This place is One of my favorite here at China town NYC, now that we have the winter in our shoulder its the perfect place to enjoy great Tequila Margarita...
Still a cool vibe and the tacos (especially during happy hour) are way better than they need to be for the space. Thumbs up.
This is the best Mexican restaurant in all of Manhattan and most parts of Brooklyn
Had a birthday party here of about 20 people the owner is really nice and accommodating. Drinks are delicious. Only tried the fish tacos and they really weren’t that great but I also have VERY high and specific expectations for fish tacos 🌮 I think most people would probably find their tacos good. Overall cute little secret restaurant.
It’s really at all in one place; Greta food, awesome cocktails, amazing service and top it all, there is a DJ to continue partying. This place is truly a hidden gem.
I really like Blue Agave, the food is very good, I had the carnitas tacos and the guacamole, very fresh and the right seasoning. Drinks were pretty good and the service fast and attentive. I’ll definitely be back.
Lovely Mexican restaurant great bar, cocktails and spirits above average. Priced accordingly.
Strong drinks. Staff so pleasant. Amazing ambience. Just a hidden treasure.
Sangria and Paloma pitchers were great!
Idk if we just came on a bad night but the experience was not great. The server we had was horrendous, we had to continuously ask if he put in the food and drinks, each time he forgot something. The music was deafening even in the dining area it was impossible to hear and the food was mediocre at best. All the meats in the tacos and enchiladas were bland and dry.
Wow what a great time. Came in for my friends birthday and everything from the drinks to food and after the dancing with the live Dj was amazing. Definitely try the tuna tacones and the Vida verde cocktail was perfectly balanced. After the lounge area was where we had a great time. If you’re looking for a restaurant with an fun experience then here’s the place to be.
A hidden gem featuring talented DJs and phenomenal music; usually packed on weekend nights.
Location, location, location. Happy hour is the best time to go. Pretty good tacos.
This is the best place I’ve been to in china town everything was on point from the food to the customer service is magnificent i will definitely recommend this to a friend..
Low choice on the menu but great food and cocktails
This place has great drinks and is a good vibe to come to after getting Chinese food in the neighborhood. Will return again!
Excellent environment to go for dinner or party time ! Food is delicious I really loved the pulqueria drink as well.
Visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this place. SO FUN!!! All around great vibe!
Not real pulque, hostess are rude and same food you can find at any “Mexican” restaurant.
Wonderful food and fantastic staff. I always enjoy my time there.
Bad experience with the manager...we were supposed to party after dinner and we were kicked out...manager was very aggressive...
Loved Pulqueria, ambiance is great, shrimp tacos delish, and passion fruit margarita - yum!
The food is from another world, very testy with the perfect combination of drinks and music you can have a very satisfying night!!!!
The music was phenomenal. The drinks were strong and the atmosphere was a vibe.
Excellent service and gratis food
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Fantastic tapas, and the pulque is great!
Good service excellent food and atmosphere good music a very good alternative in the cities 100% recommended
Excellent food and great service :)
Amazing place to hang out with friends great music, authentic Mexican food, and good service.
Would not recommend, not open” seiezed “
Great food. Not bad prices too. Queso fundido was perfect
I loved the place! The food is delicious, the drinks are exquisite, and the service is excellent! definitely a must to visit !
The best place ever! The food is amazing and the drinks expectacular ! Dont sleep on the pulqueria drink 🤭it has it effect. music is great make you want to dance. The staff is very welcoming and professional if you like to have a great time this is the place!
Food, drinks and service could not have been better. Best shrimp tacos ever. A hidden gem.
Was here a while back. Awesome place, great atmosphere, very courteous staff. Drinks were great everyobe was so friendly. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely keep coming back.
Expensive, we ate 3 tacos and it was like 72 dollars.Rude waitress that demanded a higher tip!
Food and cocktails were great, as was service!
A speakeasy type Mexican lounge and restaurant. Possibly the best vibe Ive felt in a Mexican place in the city
Great service good drinks and great tacos and Guacamole.
Fun bar, great music, good drinks- the restaurants food is a bit overpriced/overrated.
The best ceviche I’ve ever eaten, and the margaritas are amazing!!!
Wow! Love it here!!! Get the spicy marg
The staffing people are very kind and nice
Amazing food and such good music!
Great service and vibes for drinks and food with friends
This spot is just amazing! Great drinks and music!
The restaurant is so cute and cozy and the ambiance is everything. Had the guacamole which was amazing. And the shrimp tacos were so good. Drinks are strong but good. Justin the bartender was so sweet.
I love this place. The cocktails were good and the service was great! Will definitely go back
It’s a hidden little gem in Chinatown. We love the vibe, the music, the food and the drinks. The service is always great. We have been there several times already and will continue to go back.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, tasty food and drinks.
This place is NICE! I love the decoration. and the food is delicious. I had a great time with friends.Best place for drinks a good music.
I just love the food ...carnitas tacos the best birria taco always so tasty ...
The restaurant is amazing! The food was beyond great and the drinks were amazing too! The ambience is great to either have dinner with a group or a romantic dinner as well! Loved it 10/10
Nothing but a wannabe glorified taco joint. Tacos are mid at best. Bouncer is very rude, they seem to care more about exclusivity than good service. Better authentic Mexican places elsewhere, do not bother.
Music was way too loud. I couldnt have a conversation with my friends.
Nice place for a night out. Great Mexican food
Best kept secret in the heart of China town.......great food and drinks
Ah-ma-zing. The atmosphere and food were top-knotch!
This place is a little hidden but has a very cute vibe. The pulque drinks are generous in portion. I’m used to having smaller portions of it. I enjoyed the food a lot and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended.
Went here with a large group so we had to do a prefix, which was totally fine, but for $65 it didn’t even include one drink. The shared chips and guacamole were fine, but putting out only 3 small bowls for 16 people is not adequate. Each person got basically only one taco as the main meal which was served with, enchiladas, rice and beans and esquites. The esquites was in maybe a 5x5 shallow small plate for 7 people so we had asked for more and they literally said, “oh we will need to check if we can serve more”. (For context , everyone was able to get ONE single spoon of esquites)Food wise, everything was OK. Some things were under seasoned or too salty. Some of the fish tacos were 90% cabbage. Dessert (churros and some type of cake) was better. The drinks were good but when a place charges $65 for such small amounts of food and drinks are still $18 on top of that, it really leaves a sour taste in your mouth. There are much better places to spend your money at for twice the amount of food and better quality of food as well.
Had a wonderful time! The staff was very attentive. Thank you!
The food was really good. The drinks were on point. And the place is cozy.I advise you to book in advance. The place can fill up quick. Definitely worth going back.
I love this place, the food is terrific delicious, it has a super nice atmosphere, good music and the service is excellent , I will be back
Great ambience, the owners are very accommodating and welcoming, the food is great, the drinks are even better, it’s the place to go for a good night
Cute and convenient!
Cool location, no need to come back
The ceviche no doubt is my favorite! The staff all is very friendly and very accommodating will definitely be back again. The bartender also makes really good drinks try out one of my favorite Buenas noches or my go to a Paloma.
Reviews are not something anyone takes time to sit down and do, but for pulqueria restaurant it must be done, from the drinks to the food and most importantly the service was a delight. If you are looking for a impeccable night with no complaints the next morning, I recommend this place 100%
The bouncer made us wait for 20 minutes to get in without a reason. The atmosphere boring. Nothing to do with a Latino party. Expensive for what it is
Screw this place. Dude at the desk down the stairs was rude as hell. My friend asked a question and he just gave them a “WTF” answer. Screw you!On top of that, the food was not worth the price. Drinks were decent but same as everywhere else.
Tacos are the best food 🌮🌮😋
Its yet another amazing bar in the city that also has a restaurant. I have not had the pleasure of eating the restaurant. But I been to the bar side a few times. The music is really good and we had appetizers. The guy that took care of us Jonathan was supper kind and happy, such a wonderful soul and genuine person. Had a great time.
Shrimp tacos are amazing fried as well as the fish. The menu has something for everyone! It is a Mexican hidden gem in Chinatown. Christian, David, Patricia and all the staff are super friendly and hospitable. The bar is on the money!!! Enjoy
We get dinner at Pulquería one of the amazing Mexican restaurants in Chinatown is a cozy and clean place of course the cocktails are delicious tuna tostadas are really delicious I recommend this place by yourself, family or friends!!!! Friendly staff
Had an amazing time at Pulqueria! Great service, incredible food, and a chill vibe! 10/10 recommend!
Came for the drink but the food is out of this world!!
It was aite just stopping point before heading over to nearby apothetique bar to get shwasted
Underground weekday taco surprise in Chinatown! Very fun, colorfully decorated place that caught our attention off the street with a neon light down the stairs. For food, esquites, the chicken and carne asada tacos were easy hits. Will definitely come back with friends for the Tacos Fiesta or for the two of every taco: El Jefe de Jefes.
First time going to this place and I was impressed. Our waitress was very attentive, although she did miss one side order. She brought us complimentary drinks to try out. The food was very tasty, and the drinks were delicious. I’d definitely return!
Love the ambiance and they have very friendly staff! Margarita was incredible
So I really liked this place. And this review is long overdue considering my lover brought me here on Valentines day almost a year ago.Hidden from major foot traffic on a dingy Chinatown side street, this place surprisingly dishes out pretty awesome Mexican food and even better margaritas. My lover knows me quite well as Mexican food & margaritas are my favorite combo. And though I was hesitant considering I dont really like Chinatown I was totally impressed. My skirt steak was amazing... Margaritas were made with care... And the decor is funky and inviting. Where am I?Oh and they have a lounge/ bar with a DJ right next to the dining area... Cool to just walk right on over and shake your rump a bit. Downside? Place is a bit overpriced. But I loved this place-- awesome date spot.
Very delicious food! Drinks are excellent and staff are the best!!!
Amazing food and really good staff
Came to Pulqueria for a birthday dinner. It is on that Harry Potter feeling street in China Town, and it isnt marked very obviously so its easy to miss. The whole experience of getting there and finding it, then going downstairs to get in is exciting. The decor of the place is amazing, I felt like I was in the Met in some Aztec exhibit! Really cool.I didnt have a drink, but their margarita menu looked really cool, lots of unique combos like grapefruit basil. Most of my party ordered a margarita and they all enjoyed them.I gave this place 3 stars despite loving everything about the look and feel because all the food was too spicy. I ordered a side of vegetables thinking Id have nice, roasted veggies and feel healthier after my tacos, but they were covered in a sauce and super spicy too, which was not noted on the menu!I dont like spicy food, I was not aware everything was going to set my mouth on fire, therefore I did not really enjoy the meal.Everyone else seemed to love it though, and I would go back with them just to sit in that room again. Next time Id order a drink, no food. Maybe just chips and quac...
I didnt spend a lot of time here; only stopped in for a quick bite. Its a really nice place. Great decor and the hostess was very nice. The carnitas taco were the best, but didnt really enjoy the fish taco though. Price was OK, a little high, but its NYC folks.
The margaritas are delicious. So is the food. I highly recommend the quesadillas. And you MUST TRY the churros! The service was great too.
Great place for pulque drinkers. The whole bar is stacked with the best tequilas and mezcals. The vibe is great.
Stopped in for cocktails and found a gem in China Town. We grabbed a few different margaritas and they were all delicious. My favorite was definitely the some like it hot. The music was lively and the place filled up with people coming to dance. Definitely a good spot if youre in this part of town
This is one of my favorites to go dance and kill the night. Get there early cause its completely packed by midnight. The cocktails are a pretty good option and they also have real tequila and mezcal (you would not believe how scarce are they here). Ive heard the restaurant is also amazing, but I tend to concentrate on the bar.
10/10!! Highly recommend the drinks. The hospitality is A+, this place was a happy coincidence for us and we know you’ll enjoy this spot.
Fantastic food and a great clean atmosphere.Slight challenge to find but with it.
Because they have the best tacos in town..
The worst place His waiter ignored me when I wanted to order. and I was still spending money $500 at his restaurant, I was intoxicated and the owner himself recorded me with his phone, having cameras in his restaurant, they took me out and the security himself said that they had already called the police, the owner left and they had already thrown me out. police
Everything was so great, the food the drinks, the ambience.Very nice experience and the service outstanding!!!Well be back!!
Great ambience, nice music, really love it
Such a cool spot. Went there for a couple drinks and ended up being there for two hours. Good music and dancing.
Hidden NYC basement gem with a great selection of tequilas mezcales and pulque! Service is awesome and if you trying to dance, this is where its at on a Friday or Saturday night!
Love this place. Loved it when it was hidden with no signs (so I could have it all to myself) ...Its a dungeon of greatness , fun and awesome food.If Jose is your bartender, you are in for a treat. He is awesome.Fish tacos - YUM !
Amazing place.!.!. the food, the drinks, the music and the staff that attends are very friendly, I recommend 100% .!.!. thanks Guys you are the best .!.!. Pulqueria one of my favorite places.!!!
Great food, great vibe, however do not plan a group event here.I didnt think the group prefix menu was a good choice, but heres the catch, its NOT a choice. youre pretty much stuck with the prefix menu if you have a group of 10 or more. They charge $55 pp. barely any of us had enough food. youll probably have two bites of salad, one or half a taco, may or may not have enchilada. if you bring a cake, they would also charge you for the cake $3 per person.if youd go to this place please do not take a group. youll be very disappointed.
Try the Smoking gun. Mezacal deliciousness. Smokey and mellow with a slightly sweet dried/aged pineapple garnish. Barbacoa tacos were a great compliment. A bit pricey but I dug it. Bartenders were cool as well.
Whats not to love about this place? It does get a bit crowded but the music is always good and the drinks are delicious. I still consider it a hidden gem, even when theres a ton of people here. Apotheke is right next door and the line is always long- try this place instead if youre in the mood for some good drinks and dancing
Great food very friendly staff with the owner even bringing you your food!
Best tacos by far I have ever tried. Bartender creates amazing delicious drinks. There Dj is amazing he really knows how to cater to the crowd , great music!
This place has a great ambiance and vibe in Chinatown. Very hipster chic with great food. However, the service sucks. The waiter took forever to take our order but the food came out pretty fast. Some of it ended up at someone elses table and then ours but we got it eventually. Might go again if I was craving the food.
