Known as the highest outdoor rooftop bar in NYC, Bar 54 lives up to the hype. The view is stunning from all angles of the bar as you see many famous parts of the NYC skyline, Central Park, and Times Square. The ambiance is upscale with music at a low volume, restaurant seating, and an elegant atmosphere. Staff is friendly and attentive. We chose to sit at the bar and the bartender was good with maintaining a conversation and having a light-hearted mood. Seating is limited so I would suggest getting there early or coming on a weeknight. They are also very strict with the age policy and will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to enter. Prices are more on the expensive side, but they seem worth it, especially for the view and quality of service. I did not get to try the food but would come back to enjoy a dinner and some drinks with family or friends.5/5 stars!

I went to drink cocktails and have some bite in the City with my friend. We ordered the Octopus which was amazing (picture attached) and ordered a few drinks. Our favourite was the Forbiden Fruit. Service was fast and friendly. They are making renovation on the balcony which I believe will level up this place.

Skip this place. They have tiers of service they provide without asking the customers what they want. They made us sit inside with no windows even who we had reservations. When we asked to be switched then they pretended they had to do really big effort for it. The outside terrace is closed and will be closed for next couple of months and without that there is no point going. Honestly the views aren’t great either. The gratuity is included no matter what u do. Overall place is overpriced and doesn’t really have value.

We were staying at the Hyatt Centric and visited this bar, I would recommend reserving a table if you want to make sure you get an outside table. This is without doubt one of the best bars we had been to, Nico the bar manager was very knowledgeable and the rest of the staff were so accommodating. My wife and I aren’t drinkers but the mocktails we had were very good and overall cost was a very pleasant surprise. I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone who wants keenly priced drinks with a fantastic view.

SKIP THIS PLACE. Don’t waste your time or money at this place. It’s a minimum 1 drink per person policy, which is fine, but Cocktails start at $23, and sodas and lemonades were around $11 each. They attempt to justify these prices with the view, but the place does not provide very good views (see my photos). The outdoor observation deck was closed. The indoor area had Many walls, low seating. There are many more places in this city to get better views. Waiter was rude when members of our party ordered lemonade and soda, implying we should order alcoholic drinks. 18% gratuity was automatically included, which just twisted the knife. SKIP THIS PLACE! Chic rooftop bar atop the Hyatt. We were post-show looking for drinks and light apps, with a view and this delivered. A decent selection of house cocktails, standard wines and a handful of beers with a solid hard liquor list. Our server was amazing and took great care of us. Even though the kitchen had just closed he was able to get us a cold platter. The view from the deck has many icons of midtown like Empire State, and to the south to Freedom Tower.

The place is beautiful with great views and service. The terrace is under renovations, but we didn’t miss being outside since it was so hot and humid. I dont think that even the 54th floor wouldve helped. Our drinks were delicious, and I could spend hours just looking outside and sipping my drink. It was Monday night, not too many people were there and it felt nice and quiet if thats your thing.

We walked into the lobby without reservation and the security personnel said they haven’t been told by the bar that reservations is a must at that time and let us in. Once we walked out the elevator, the host was welcoming and our waitress was nice, professional, not bad in any shape way or form. Our drink was $23 and $24 and yes that’s a lot and nothing special about the drink but still glad I went up there. Yes there’s a lot of buildings around you and we had low clouds that day so it could have been a lot better. If you don’t care for cocktails that much then just order your go to drink. I didn’t make a reservation due to the amount of open times that were available and decided to just walk in and that worked out well. Around 8pm.

Food and drinks were pricy, but thats to be expected for the novelty. The food we tried was all excellent though!!! Truly great food and dessert. The drinks werent bad. The view up there was really nice. They have glass walls though, to prevent idiots from idioting, and it kind of obstructs the view and makes it difficult to get pictures. There are small gaps where you can try to snag pics. Could see the tower lights from the 9/11 memorial area pretty well. Was a good experience.

We rate this bar a 5/5 mainly due to Gabby’s exceptional service. Our night started on a sour note when the host at the entrance refused to seat us because we didn’t have a reservation, despite the bar not being at capacity. After asking if we could take a few photos, he reluctantly agreed. I then tried again for a table, with the host barely acknowledged us he eventually told us to follow him to a table, leaving us very confused as to why we couldn’t be seated in the first instance. However, Gabby’s warm and attentive service made a significant difference in our experience. While the initial interaction with the host was disappointing, Gabby’s care turned our evening around. We may reconsider returning due to the initial experience, but Gabby’s service is worth highlighting.

Absolutely a joke of a place. Subpar food and terrible drinks for way too much money!! We had reservations in advanced (you need them or else you will get yelled at). They will ask you probably like 10 times if you have reservations before letting you go in. Then, we got seated away from the window and had a “nice view” of the tables and a bit of the actual rooftop view. We were not allowed to look around in the outdoor balcony area so the whole rooftop thing was just a joke - should’ve just gone to a regular bar with at least nice drinks :)

I visited in the late afternoon on a very hot and humid August day. Walk-in possible at around 5:30. Almost empty inside, few guests outside at that hour. However, outside full exposure to the boiling sun. Stunning midtown views, good drink and attentive service, but I was told I could only walk out on the terrace once my drink ($21) had been served. A bit strange when the place is so empty, but I fully understand they will have to make sure they are not run over by visitors who do not consume anything but are taking lots of selfies on the terrace...

As the name would suggest, this rooftop bar is located on the 54th floor, so it is fairly high, but not the tallest. We went on a Sunday night just after 11 PM, which might explain why business was a bit slow, although the fact that only one of the three elevators worked might have also contributed to that fact: after waiting almost 15 minutes in the lobby, during which time several people decided to leave, we were finally directed to the service elevator and entered the bar through the kitchen (which was very clean by the way). From there, we made our way to the host, who then sat us at a nice table with a beautiful view. But even though the place was supposed to close at midnight, we were greeted with last call. The person who took our order disappeared with our credit card never to be seen again. Another server checked on us once, and a third closed out our check and brought our credit card back. Service was not bad, per se, it was just unusually anonymous and strangely impersonal. A glass of wine is $16 to $20, Cocktails are around $25, which is not bad for such a place in the middle of NYC, and they are absolutely delicious. We ordered two cocktails, took some pictures on the terrace overlooking the city, stayed about an hour and had a really nice time.

I had the worst customer service experience in my entire adult life! I asked for lemons for my water and she just sat it on the table without saying a word. My card was taken to start a running tab but I noticed the tables surrounding me were not asked the same. In disbelief I continued to watch this behavior. Ordered our drinks which were actually fantastic. When I asked for a water refill 10 minutes passed and I seen her checking on other tables. I asked again as she passed our table and she said she would get to it after serving everyone else. All this time passed when the water refill station was a few steps away. She could have literally turned around. It wasn’t busy! She filled the water without saying a single word, sat the canter on the table and walked away! I seen a woman walking by and asked was she the manager and she was so I kindly addressed my concerns about the poor customer service. The “manager” made excuses without an apology. I politely asked to check out the tab. I noticed the hostess and manager talking but the hostess continued serving the other tables and never came back. The manager brought the bill and I further expressed my disappointments. The manager apologized with added excuses but never a mention to make things right. I walked out to the terrace to take photos and noticed being watched by the manager and the hostess so I waved and that did for me. We left at that moment. The hostess was very tentative to the other tables so I can’t help but conclude that this was about race. Sadly, I don’t believe the manager or hostess cared how we felt because their actions showed this. So disappointed our time was wasted. No excuses for the behaviors.

Loved the Moscow Mules and Bed of Roses.I took two stars off because I had an unpleasant incident at the security on the first floor. We showed up on time and we were let in at the correct time however the security guy had an attitude and was not welcoming.I am always nice to the staff as is their job to keep the business safe, but the security gentleman was not in its best attitude. I had to go downstair to get one of my friends after 20 minutes and the security guy acted like he had never seen me. I showed him the reservation sms/message and he said that I had to call my other friends from rooftop to come get us in. He was assuming that I made up the message. The tone of his voice and the way that he was acting was shocking. I had just come out and the way that we were treated was poor. One of the hostes came down, and let us in. The host, a nice gentleman, was very understandable. However his behaviour ruinned our night but the good drinks and service made up for it.Thanks!

Avoid this place if youre not staying in the Hyatt Centric. The staff does their best, but the basic concept of a reservation is completely broken.Normal reservation: you have a table.Bar 54 reservation: Stand at a high table at the outdoor bar and wait indefinitely for someone to leave. The reason for this is that hotel guests can come and go as they please, but patrons from outside the hotel are absolutely shafted. On top of this they will charge you $25/person if you miss or cancel your reservation without 24 hours notice. The overpriced drink was good. The view was amazing. The experience was overall a major disappointment. I would probably return if staying in the hotel, otherwise I will not be back. Also of note is that smoking and vaping appear to be allowed on the roof. I dont really mind, but others might.

They served 3 tables first who came after us and they didnt give us a discount for this misservice. BESIDES they included 18% tip charge in the check for the horrible service for 2 people. I dont recommend the place, plus they have a construction so you cannot go outside to see the views. Bad service. Very upset. If I get a refund or discount I will remove this review.

There is no concept of hospitality or courtesy or customer and their voice. Bar54 staff and management, you are representing Hyatt? You are representing an industry that runs on customer-centricity? Shocking!! Provide some basic training to your staff on how to conduct themselves and talk to customers. Then even think about running a bar that serves overpriced drinks and bad memories. I asked to bring the rules of the bar, where it is written that every guest is obliged to order, the waiter did not bring written evidence and was very rude to this request. I said I would take it off to send it to the management that the bar is forced to take extra drinks or refuses service. This waiter knocked out my phone and was rude, without providing any evidence of extortion of the order. I don’t know how this place has 4 stars. The food was totally inedible. I don’t say that lightly. It’s all clearly pre-cooked, bulk warehouse food. The chicken “sliders” - frozen pre-cooked chicken strips used in salads - reeked. The chips are generic brand lays. The cocktails aren’t well balanced. The staff is kind, but the service is slow. This could all be overlooked at a dive bar, but this place is unreasonably expensive (e.g., $25 for a mediocre cocktail). The only reason you’d come here is the view.

We went here after a broadway play and were excited to see the view. I had heard great things and wanted to check it out but I was very dissatisfied with my experience. First, when we walked in the hostess stopped us immediately and was very rude and snotty. She asked us if we were staying at the hotel, we said no, then she asked us if we had a “black card” and we again said no. She then informed us we had to order drinks only at the bar in the back, which already had a decent line, and then we could take our drinks outside. It was raining and we did not want to sit out there the whole time. It was a 30 minute wait for 1 drink as there was only 1 bartender for the everyone. The other bar was “reserved” and nobody could order from him. The people in line with us and behind us were also extremely frustrated and we saw 4 separate groups leave while waiting for a drink. We ended up getting 2 very overpriced drinks and then leaving shortly after. There are literally hundreds of bars you can go to in NYC so make sure to avoid this place. The hostess was so rude it started our experience badly from the start. Do not go here!!

We stayed at Hyatt Centric Times Square and Bar 54 is the adults only bar located at the top of the hotel. Reservations are required regardless if staying at the hotel or not, but its a painless online experience. Its a roomy indoor space with a very cozy outdoor patio with views of Times Square. Seating is very comfortable, with lounge chairs outside and couches inside, with lots of pillows around, gives me the feeling of hanging out at our bougie friends house. Servers are very friendly and helpful, and the bartenders are excellent at their craft. Drinks are pretty pricey, each cocktail hovers close to $20 each with shots of Patron being similar in price. Theres also beer, wine, and spirits made to your preference. Gratuity was included for our party of 3. Overall, its a great place to hangout with buddies with a spectacular view of the city.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Possibly the worst establishment of its kind in the city. When youre charged $21 for a modest $10 pour of Woodford, you cant just say youre paying for the view because thats what theyre hitting you with the $50 minimum per-person for. If that wasnt uncompetitive enough, staff is also unwilling/unable to produce any standard cocktail not on their remarkably small menu. Comically bad wine selection, so bad it doesnt even qualify as a selection (the most appealing cabernet is Klinker Brick, a Lodi zinfandel label) Beer selection also miniature and bad, $12 per bottle. Sparse food options. Mediocre service. Will charge you for cancellation.

Tricky review to write because this place is one of a kind, and yet is had some serious drawbacks. The location and view is only thing keeping it from 3 stars. When we arrived, we were questioned about the texting services through Resy because apparently they were trying to only accomodate hotel guests due to light staff. That being said, we were still sat and treated well outside the hostess situation being a bad start to our experience. Drinks were delicious and you cant complain about price when the quality is their and includes their view of Times Square. What I dont appreciate, is we dined and drank in over 12 places and this was the only place that automatically incorporated a tip when it was only a party of 3. Dont like that it was not verbally disclosed to me or stated on Resy when booking. Plus, it was only 18%. Not a fair amount even for good service, I tip 25% and this discourages folks from tipping additional when its not disclosed and added to small parties.

My friend was visiting from Texas, & wanted to go to a rooftop bar, so my friend suggested this one. We made a reservation on resy (which is listed here on Google Maps) for the patio at 7:30; they required a $50 minimum per person, but thats easy with the cost of the drinks & food. It seems like they priced things in such a way that you have to buy 3 things. We ate beforehand, so we just opted to get 3 cocktails each. Our waitress was Jay, I hope I spelled that correctly. She was very knowledgeable & kind. They dont rush you to get drinks/food because they expect you to want to enjoy the full 90 minutes. The view was absolutely stunning! The 2 seater tables are right against the glass edge, so we got to see everything & take some fabulous pictures throughout our time there. They usually have new reservations every 90 minutes, but the people after us didnt show up, so we were able to see the sunset & moon rise... absolutely beautiful! You can see the NYE ball, both rivers, & straight through to the southern tip of Manhattan. At the end of the patio theres an area where they dont seat anyone so everyone is able to take pictures at the corner edge. Theres even a free binocular telescope on that end if you want to see the landscape more closely. I dont have the best hearing, but 54 floors up I couldnt hear the hustle & bustle of Times Square below. The drinks were tasty, & not watered down or over-juiced like I was worried they might be, but not so strong to get you drunk over 90+ minutes. For my 3 cocktails, & the included 18% gratuity, my tab was about $89. On our way out we decided to hang out a bit longer, so we sat at the bar & got one more cocktail with Jacques... he is an amazing bartender, both in personality & craft!I forget the name of the first drink I had... but they do change things up a couple of times a year for the season, so they arent all always available... but, the second drink was Purple Rain, the third was an espresso martini, & the last was Cloud 9. My friend had 3 dirty martinis which she said were really good & an espresso martini.

Cant comment on the prices or the atmosphere but I can say the weekend managers and weekday staff need some more training. Our flight got in late so we were unable to make our Thursday night 20:30 reservations. Called the bar @ 19:45 and explained the situation. Asked if we can reschedule for Sunday night @ 21:00. We were told yes that is no problem. All is well or so we think. Show up to Bar 54 at 21:04 Sunday evening and find out we dont have a reservation. The nice man at the front door called up to the manager. Manager says cant get us in and we dont take reservation over the phone. That is fine then teach your employees or other managers how to answer the phone and properly handle questions. Their solution to make it right was scan the qr code and wait to see if the next reservation doesnt show up.

Visited this bar a couple of times during my stay over 4th of July holiday, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. The view is definitely stellar and I can see the appeal for even the locals to get up there and enjoy the view while drinking champagne. The outside terrace or balcony can feel a bit small or crowded at times, but it is understandable. The one reason I am giving 3 starts instead of 4 or 5 is the music selection.I know that I am older and un-hip now, I try to stay somewhat current with the new trends, but the music selection Saturday night (July 7th) was atrocious. While new and hip music can be played and still make the place very cool. (I dont know, some alternative/dance/hipster music), what we heard the whole time was hard core rap with lots of swearing, and it wasnt really the swearing part that bothered me, but the monotony of it that we were listening, it took away tremendously from the experience we were having (not to mentioned the blown speaker in the balcony that was rather annoying because of the distorted noise).I even asked one of the hosts if they had a DJ or who was playing the music, she responded it was a Spotify list. Please tell your staff to pick a bit better selection, rap is cool, but for hours it becomes an annoyance for sure.

I cannot even begin to explain how bad our experience was at this place, so heres the Readers Digest version:1. Do not go here. There are approximately 10,000 bars in NYC and any one of them is better than this place.2. The drinks are expensive and they are not that great. $112.32 for 3 cocktails is pricey, but when you add in extremely rude staff, its insult to injury.3. All of the staff members were rude to us. We spoke to 5 people before even making it up to the bar, and not one of them greeted us or said Hello. One person having a bad day is understood, but 100% of the staff being less than cordial indicates management issues.4. When we got up to Bar 54 the maître d snapped at us when we asked if we just could seat ourselves. He said Seating us is his own personal hell. We could not believe it. We were a party of four and all of us were, from that point on, uncomfortable.5. We were sat and it took 15 mins for someone to come over to us, in an empty bar...it had just opened at 4:00 and it was 4:03. Our server was miserable, and she barked at us when asking us about our drink order.6. We ordered 3 cocktails and 1 virgin Piña Colada. She asked for ID (sure I get that), and then she left. 10 minutes later she returns (no drinks) to tell us that she is going to give us one drink, but then we have to leave because a member in our party was not yet 21. Then she mumbled something about security and walked off. We looked at one another with astonishment because at NO POINT were we told by any of the other 6 hotel staff that minors were not permitted at Bar 54 because food was not served. The rule makes sense...if that was even true. We did not get a chance to see menus. So, I cannot even verify if the rooftop serves food. However, if that is the case, someone should have asked for ID, or at least informed us of this before we spent 15 mins waiting for the rooftop to open, and were then faced with rudeness. If a person is working in a bar where the minimum entry age is 21 because food is not served, one would think that is a tidbit of information that would have been shared BEFORE we ordered our drinks and not after all of IDs were verified and the order was placed.7. Bar 54 has a lot of potential, but it needs to have a clean up/retraining of staff and what it is to work in the hospitality industry. The views are great, but there are a number of other places you can go to hang out with great views and be treated with respect.

Perfect rooftop bar I imagine!!! Super excited here!!! This is just near broadway square in new your city!!! This is in Hyatt hotel. First you enters the hotel entrance, take left in front of the reception and just stop by the bar. Then ask the staff to visit the rooftop, so the staff ask your name and give you a card key. With it take an elevator up to the 54th floor and let the staff know your name!! Super kind staffs take care of you! It means you have to have some conversation to staffs on ground floor to get to the bar. The bar is awesome!!!! From 54th floor you can enjoy perfect view of the Manhattan!!! I can’t believe this is open air bar on 54th floor. So in any case you may drop some stuff from the fences so I felt like a little bit scared when I just glanced the ground from the floor. But perfect view with good cocktails I enjoyed good time and spend good time!!! Not too crowded so I think this may not be so famous one. So you can enjoy relatively calm bar atmosphere here!

Amazing drinks...if price is not a factor then you must visit and have a few drinks while taking in the view of the city. The intimate layout is perfect for quiet conversation, and the terrace outside facing downtown provides amazing views. I had a couple beers (they could add some more choices here...I like true Belgian ales like Kasteel Donker) which were $11, and I asked the bartender to make me a favorite of his. He returned with a pre-prohibition drink called the New York sour. Amazing drink. Three drinks, amazing view, good music, and the outside terrace cost $55.

The bars view is amazing (and Im not one for heights). They had had a great variety of drinks. The light is a little too dim, so its a bit dark at night.

We had a very disappointing experience at Bar 54. The host was extremely rude and unprofessional, which really affected our visit. We expected a much higher standard of customer service given the reputation of the venue. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Not a true roof top bar. Yes, it’s on the 54th floor, but it’s mostly inside, so your sky views are very limited. If you want a true roof top view bar I would go so somewhere else.
