I came here with a friend in early December on a cold evening for an early dinner at 6:00pm. I booked the reservation a few days in advance. The entrance to the restaurant can be a little difficult to find, but just know that you can access it from any door leading into the lobby of 70 Pine.I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed the complimentary bread that came with meal which was like nothing we had ever tasted. We ordered two entrees and two starters which was plenty food for us. The service was also great, but not exceptional. The prices were also reasonable for a New York City restaurant of this caliber.Based on our experience, I would be very excited to go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone

Inventive and delicious food. Every dish was expertly executed with memorable flavours. I mean… white bean hummus with ‘nduja?? Who would have thought. The ricotta gnocchi was so fluffy! And big. The charred carrots with razor clams?! Amazing. I scraped every last bit of its briny citrusy foam. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Dinner at Crown Shy is always a memorable and exciting experience, and our most recent visit truly raised the bar. It was a five-star evening all around, from the food and drinks to the service and ambiance. While the evening didn’t start perfectly on time—our party was late due to a scheduling mix-up—the team’s graciousness turned what could have been an awkward situation into an opportunity to feel genuinely valued. When we explained the delay and offered to begin ordering while waiting for our friends to arrive, the staff was not only accommodating but also expressed heartfelt appreciation for our thoughtfulness. Their understanding and kindness set the tone for what became an extraordinary evening.Unmatched Hospitality: Our server, Adrien, epitomized hospitality—gracious, knowledgeable, and deeply attentive without ever being intrusive. Adrien’s expert recommendations, from cocktails to dessert pairings, elevated the entire dining experience. The team’s generosity throughout the night was truly touching, especially when they surprised us with additional desserts to thank us for our mindfulness earlier in the evening. It was a simple yet profoundly generous gesture that left a lasting impression on all of us.Exceptional Cocktails & Wines: We kicked off with the Oro Maya cocktails, a stunning mix of flavors that was both refreshing and sophisticated. Transitioning to the wine list for the main courses felt seamless, thanks to Adrien’s thoughtful guidance. To cap off the meal, an amaro recommended by Adrien paired perfectly with dessert, adding a beautifully complex note to the end of our evening.Divine Dishes, Perfectly Balanced: The food was nothing short of spectacular, each dish a masterpiece of flavor, balance, and presentation. The complementary pull apart bread with butter was so delicious and perfect, we were floored. We started with the oysters (grapes, elderberry, and kombucha) that were so divine we immediately ordered a second round. From there, the hamachi crudo (citrus and dashi) and the tuna toast (pineapple and chorizo) took the meal to another level. The tuna toast was, without exaggeration, one of the best bites we’ve ever had—we could have easily eaten a dozen more. For mains, the charred carrots with razor clams and the branzino with squash mole and Brussels sprouts delivered bold, beautiful flavors and textures that reflected the kitchen’s impeccable creativity.Show-Stopping Desserts: Dessert was, without question, one of the highlights of the evening. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding for two (pecan and apple sorbet), a warm and comforting end to the meal. But the most unforgettable desserts came as a surprise from the team—a gesture of appreciation that made the night feel truly special. The satsuma orange ice cream with honey and toasted marshmallow and the horchata ice cream with chocolate and churros were absolutely dreamy. Both were unique and amazing, perfectly crafted, and left us savoring every bite.Immaculate Vibes: Beyond the food and drink, Crown Shy offers an ambiance that’s second to none. The curated playlist—90s hip-hop and R&B—added energy and nostalgia to the experience, while the sleek yet inviting decor made the space feel luxurious but comfortable. Everything from the lighting to the table settings reflected a commitment to thoughtful design and guest comfort.A Legacy of Excellence: Crown Shy is a testament to the legacy of the incredibly talented Jamal James Kent, and it’s clear that his vision is carried out in every detail of the experience. From the immaculate vibes to the extraordinary hospitality and unforgettable food, Crown Shy is a place that doesn’t just deliver a meal—it creates a memory. We left Crown Shy feeling more than satisfied; we felt celebrated. If it were possible, we’d give this spot ten stars. It’s a true gem in every sense of the word, and we cannot recommend it enough. Whether it’s for a special occasion or simply a night out, Crown Shy guarantees an experience that will stay with you long after you’ve left the table.

After a long day at work, I decided to unwind by trying out Crown Shy on a quiet weekday evening. I indulged in a variety of dishes, starting with two appetizers, followed by a main course, and finishing with a decadent dessert. In terms of preference, the Sticky Toffee Pudding stole the show—soft, warm, and richly satisfying, perfectly complemented by a refreshing apple sorbet with just the right touch of sweetness. It’s the kind of dessert I could enjoy every day if I didn’t have to worry about calories! The Grilled Chicken was also noteworthy, well-marinated with a pleasant balance of mild spice, just-right sourness, and a touch of sweetness, though the saltiness was a bit overwhelming for my taste. The Octopus and pull-apart bread tied for second place, each offering their own flavorful experiences, while the Hamachi, though fresh, didn’t quite meet the mark in comparison. The ambiance and décor were inviting, setting a relaxed mood perfect for unwinding. However, the noticeable wait time detracted slightly from the overall experience.

Crown Shy is a beautiful restaurant with an impeccable modern vibe. The service was super friendly and even more helpful. I had a great time.I will say that I think having a Michelin star set my expectations too high for this place and it wasnt able to meet them. The hot pork katsu was super creative and was definitely the best thing we tried. But overall I found myself feeling like it was a good but not great restaurant from a food quality experience.

It is a great place to enjoy delicious food. Very reasonably priced for a Michelin rated Manhattan restaurant. Bread with pistachio was out of this world. And Strawberry Bakhlava Cheesecake was so good, I will remember it for a while! Branzino and Octopus were really good and flavorful, but fried cauliflower appetizer just didnt do it for me. Overall definitely recommend and will be back next time I am in NYC.

Im giving Crown Shy in New York two stars, primarily due to the excellent sommelier who was friendly, professional, and provided great wine recommendationsSeating: While initially seated at a table where we felt too far apart, the hostess was accommodating and found us a much better round table where we could sit closer together. A word of advice to other couples: many two-seater tables arent very intimate, as youre placed quite far from each other. If this is important to you, dont hesitate to ask for a different table. The bread was a standout: The bread served was of superb quality, truly exceptional and worth mentioning. However, the rest of our experience was disappointing:1. Inflexible ordering: We were required to order our entire meal at once, which felt restrictive for an à la carte menu.2. Inconsistent food quality: While the bread was excellent, my fiancé disliked most dishes. I found the majority of the food average. The short rib was enjoyable but significantly overpriced at over $100, not justifying its cost.3. Inattentive service: Our waiter seemed disinterested but was actually the only one receptive to our feedback. Not once during the meal did anyone ask if we were enjoying our food or if everything was to our liking.4. Unprofessional management: When we provided feedback, the manager appeared visibly annoyed. We observed her complaining about us to other staff afterward, which was extremely unprofessional.5. Lack of Michelin-star quality: Despite the excellent bread and the tasty (but overpriced) short rib, the overall experience fell far short of expectations for a Michelin-starred restaurant in terms of food quality, service, and customer care.In summary, while the bread and sommelier were highlights, and the short rib was enjoyable (though overpriced), the overall dining experience was disappointing and not up to Michelin star standards. The restaurant needs significant improvements in food quality, service, and management to justify its status.

Celebrated a birthday here and was blown away by the entire experience. Service was 10/10, our hostess and server (Dante) were both extremely attentive and nice. The food and cocktails/mocktails were very impressive. Must try the hamachi crudo, katsu and pear cocktail. The bread service and sticky toffee pudding dessert were also phenomenal. Fair prices for the level of detail and service as well. Will definitely return & try saga next. (also +1 for the 90s-2000s rap/hip hop music and decor) Thank you Crown Shy!

We had a team dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed the evening! The vibe was fantastic, with dim lighting and jazz music setting the perfect atmosphere. The cocktails were great—Id especially recommend the Radicle and Melona Milk Punch. As for the food, we tried almost everything, but the standouts for me were the Hamachi, Tuna Toast, Ricotta Gnocchi, Sea Bass, Crispy Eggplant, and BBQ Short Rib.

Overall a pretty pleasant experience. The atmosphere was really nice and cozy, and the dishes were mostly really good. My favorite was the pork katsu, it was a great blend of flavors with some heat, some sweetness and of course the incredible pork flavor, cooked to perfection. I think the Gruyère fritters could have used a bit more filling inside, they were a little on the dry end but still tasty (from the other pictures I saw, I wonder if they maybe even forgot to add cheese filling). Would love to come back and try some of the other dishes!

By default they give us a table at a bad position, while there are plenty open. After request we got a better seat. The restaurant is well decorated, I like the light fixtures. The music is a bit rush but I guess that’s the atmosphere they want to build. If you do restaurant week the whole table has to do it together. And the bread will no longer be free. $12 a piece, it’s worth it. Well made and it is interesting they inject the sauce in between the bread. The oyster is too small and not that worth its price.Raw beef is the star of the appetizers. Combination of the mushroom beef and vegetables with the bread, a mouthful of that does make a difference. It could be I have never had raw beef before. The clam is good looking but moderate taste. The salad/leaves are actually not bad but I was going to cut and mix. Later I found I should eat by leaf. For the entrees, chicken is dry and I don’t like the orange slightly hot sauce.Branzino is good. For the pasta we add the lobster cause the waiter said it’s a good deal but it is not. However I still recommend adding the lobster since there is not much content in this dish. It is tasty but not worth the price. All in all this restaurant week is not a good try.

Loved the Nduja over the hummus as well. Our favorite plating was the carrots & razor clams in curry. The cocktails were just as gorgeous as we expected. Pleased to see they have mocktails as well! The ginger mango with soda was perfect for me. As well as the green tea kombucha. My partner enjoyed the white Negroni and the milk punch.

Best meal I had in NYC. The service was great! I appreciate how they walked me through the menu and answered all of my questions. They even gave me a complimentary dessert! On that note, if youre a chocolate lover, get the cake. The Gnocchi was probably my favourite dish. The chicken was really good too, though I find chicken is easy to cook, but hard to cook well. They did a great job here. They really seemed to play with the extreme ends of citrus, sweetness, and spicy heat, which my taste buds loved. A great experience here.

The atmosphere is sleek and sophisticated, and I love the look and feel of the bar area and the open kitchen. Their cocktails are great, especially the Flightplan cocktail, with Mezcal, Jamaican rum, Togarashi, mango, and lime. It was a good, boozy tiki style drink served on crushed ice. For food, their break is delicious. It’s nice and fluffy on the inside, and I love that they serve it with labneh—it’s creamy with nice tang, and it slathers perfectly on the bread. Their ceviche dish was bright, fresh, and beautifully plated. And the grilled octopus was tasty with a nice depth of flavor.

Visiting Crown Shy is a novel dining experience, and there is a lot that Id recommend. There are probably a few things that they can do better on but it was a great experience! The food was excellent (with a couple of dishes that were a bit of a miss). Greatly enjoyed the Pull-Apart Olive Bread and the Gruyere Fritters, which were both my favorites. The group also liked the Short Ribs a lot. The Grilled Citrus Marinated Chicken and the octopus were also very good! The service was good but exceptionally slow (We were sitting for over an hour before they took our food order). Watching the chefs cook in an open kitchen was a very interesting experience even though it gets a bit loud. The cocktails were great as well (highly recommend The Aftermath), amd the selection of wines was quite good too.Loved all the desserts that we tried, but the Sticky Toffee Pudding was our favorite! The Satsuma ice cream was also quite good. Highly recommend visiting Crown Shy for a unique fine dining experience.

I’ve had Crown Shy on my list to try for a while now and unfortunately, it definitely did not impress. The ambiance in the main dining area was lackluster with oddly spaced out tables and the music was WAY TOO LOUD. They were playing music from the early 2000s (which is fine) but I felt as if I was at a house party with the way they blasted the volume. The wait service was also extremely rushed and my party felt uncomfortable with the way they kept trying to take away our unfinished platters. The cocktails and food were also unmemorable. The cocktails were mediocre at best with extremely strong scents. We had to send back a cocktail because the smell was making my friend nauseous. We ordered the Gruyère fritters, hamachi, gnocchi, octopus, pork katsu, and the roasted short rib but none of the plates awed us.Overall, you’re not missing out.

For example, they changed out dinner plates after every shared dish. Chefs work so hard on precise dish flavors…it blows my mind that restaurants don’t always do this. The food was elegant and varied…no two flavor profiles were alike. The bread service was over the top…seriously. Hamachi was delicate and balanced. The gnocchi was pillowy soft with a creamy/heavenly texture, the chicken was a huge surprise…a little spicy but exploding with juicy flavor. Thank you for a truly memorable meal.

If Crown Shy didn’t have a Michelin Star, I probably would have given it a 5. But it falls a little short of what I expect out of a Michelin.First the good: the building it is in is truly a masterpiece. I love the lobby and the entrance. The staff is friendly and eager to please. They have an incredible bar program and one of the best gin lists I’ve ever seen.I recommend the tomato and goat cheese, the marinated chicken, and the sticky toffee pudding. All of these were really great. The Gruyère fritters are good but seven is too many of them for a party of 2. By the time I was eating the fourth one, I was done. The short rib is over priced for what it is. The corn side is amazing but the beef itself was under seasoned. Hard to believe a Michelin star restaurant would forget finishing salt on a $105 dish. The bathroom wasn’t checked during the night. The waste bin was over flowing. Not a huge deal, but not what I expect at a Michelin Star restaurant. The biggest flaw was that they brought us the wrong dessert. When we pointed it out they of course took it back with an apology. But then both the right and the wrong dessert ended up on the bill. Again they corrected it with an apology, but what if I hadn’t checked closely.Again if Crown Shy wasn’t touted as a Michelin Star restaurant, I’d probably let these things slide, but I was hoping for more.

Thanks to Matt Magliocco, I discovered one of the hottest new properties in NYC. Crown Shy is located on the lobby floor of a beautiful Art Deco condo building that is a hop, skip and a jump from Wall Street. The restaurant lounge benefits from soft and welcoming lighting with a slick bar area and an equally fashionable dining area.Bar manager Harrison Ginsberg (ex Dead Rabbit and Black Tail) has designed a beautiful cocktail list of signatures and twists on classics. We started the dinner with two stunning Michters cocktails, Gone Bamboo with rye, sherry, coconut, almond, peach, rosemary and barley and RIP Aerlume with rye, Greek vermouth, spiced orange, saffron and Campari.Next up, we enjoyed some of the finest casual dining NY has to offer. I say casual, because business partners Jeff Katz and James Kent see the ground floor Crown Shy space as being just that. On the 64th and 65th floors, you can find Saga and Overstory, higher end dining and drinking experiences, respectively. Both offer stunning 360 degree views of the city from the balcony.Of the food plates, all designed for sharing, the highlights were the Gruyere fritters, white bean hummus and nduja, Caramelle pasta with corn and Chantarelles.

Came here for an early dinner. Started with cocktails and the complimentary pull apart olive bread. It’s topped with more olives and sugar. Very very tasty. We then had the Gruyère fritters which were good but the least favorite of the things we ordered. The oysters with habanero were delicious. The crudo with strawberry and fresh mint was a great twist to a ceviche (closest comparison or sashimi). Very layered in flavors and one of my favorites of the night. Then we shared the roasted prime rib which was exceptional.I ordered the roasted banana ice cream, I wasn’t a fan of the caramel popcorn but that is simply a personal preference. The cheesecake was delicious and the fresh fruit really balances it.

I had visited Crown Shy on December 30th when I was visiting NYC and was blown away by the food, however the service needed to much more improvement. We had a reservation at 7:30pm and arrived at this time and were seated promptly. We had booked this reservation a few weeks out and were a small party of 2, but we were seated in a corner of the restaurant where there was only one other table. This table was close to the entrance and seemed like a table they just setup in order to get more customers as it did not blend into the other dining area and we felt completely isolated. This took a lot away from our experience as we did not feel as though we were sitting in a restaurant. I had asked if there was any availability elsewhere and they said they were fully booked. Thinking that we booked this a few weeks out we would think that we would not be seated in a place like this.Besides the physical location, this seat brought other challenges as many of the staff did not go to this area so it was hard to get someone’s attention when needing something and our wait staff would hardly check in. We had ordered a bottle of wine with the sommelier (who was very helpful) but after that we never saw him again, as he was not the one to come serve the wine, nor ask us to taste it to see if we liked it. As well, the bottle of wine was placed on the opposite side of the table and we had to reach over to pour it ourselves, where we saw other tables had their wine being poured for them along with water, again this was largely due to location of our table. When ordering it took us a while, because again we had to waive down waiters as they quickly walked into the main dining area and walked past our section, so to do simple things it took a lot of time and effort. We were also never checked on during the meal in regards to if we received all of our items or if there was anything wrong, because we did need some extra utensils but went without it due to the lack of service. As for the food, it was amazing. We had ordered the churros, the carrots, laksa octopus, the chicken, the cauliflower and satsuma ice cream for dessert.Every dish was amazing as there was an amazing depth of flavour and uniqueness. The portions were also great and we left very full. I would recommend all these dishes and felt there is something for everyone. As a Michelin star restaurant I felt that the food did it justice, but the service did not, so I would put them more into a Bib Gourmand category.

So delicious. One of the people in our group isnt a huge hummus fan but still enjoyed it. We were a party of 3 and our waiter suggested we order the ribeye which came with a kale salad and roasted potatoes. It was the perfect serving for 3, with food remaining. A new American place with extensive global influences. The cooking features agreeable and fun techniques. We start with the Gruyère fritters: the flavor profile here is cheesey and starchy, topped with lime & chili powder. The cheese comes inside the churro like fritter, a lovely surprise on the first bite. It’s a little dry and heavy, a bit boring after though. The soft shell crab lettuce wrap features a very tasty crab that is a little raw on the outside but at the same time with a very doughy batter. The sauces bring the dish alive. The squid ink treccione is a commendable pasta dish, featuring an awesome subtly gamey lamb ragu with an ingenious addition of mussels. The homemade pasta maximizes surface area for sauce and is cooked al dente that it’s almost undercooked. The chicken is well endorsed by our waiter, and I can see why. It has an awesome flavor profile that is citrusy acidic, from a delicate marinade that doesn’t make it too overt. It comes with a good kick of habanero. While the chicken wasn’t anywhere near dry, it could have been more tender. The chicken foot it came with was so charred it was burnt.

This is a great place. We came to NY for labor day weekend and planned on visiting a few of the more known places, Crown Shy definitely delivered. The place is beautiful, it feels modern and upscale without the pretentious. The restaurant is comfortable, spacious and well decorated. The ambience is nice, low light gives it a kind of romantic feel but you are still able to see everything you are eating. Good music on the background.Service was great, nothing less than what you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Great suggestions made by our waiter. I asked for a carajillo which they didn’t have because they didn’t have Liquor 43 bur offered to do an alternative with Grand Marnier and Cointreau that was on point.Food was excellent, everything was delicious, starting with the pull apart olive bread all the way to their toffee dessert, I would repeat the menu almost exactly when coming back, the only thing I might remove/replace would be the gruyere fritters, they were not bad but just didn’t quite get the hype.Overall Crown Shy is a great place to visit., I would strongly recommend trying it.

This restaurant is incredible!! We had such an amazing evening. My husband and I went to Crown Shy on my birthday. We ordered quite a lot of food. Each dish was phenomenal! For dessert I even got a cupcake with a candle. They packed it to go (since we already ordered 2 dessert). I ate it the next morning and even the cupcake was special. The decor is great and the service was good. A true awesome experience! Can’t wait to go back!! Oh, and a stainless steel straw!! They really think of everything!!! Greatly appreciated!!!!!

Wow! That short rib really is something else, but we will get to that shortly.First, the drinks are delicious and creative. The Melona Milk Punch, Burnt Pineapple, and Pear are fantastic choices - highly recommend going with the Burnt Pineapple as the go to drink. The Gruyère fritters weren’t bad, but sounded better on paper, but was still tasty. The hamachi is something else though, super fresh and complex - highly recommend getting that. Now onto the short rib, definitely get this! It can feed about 1.5 people or if you’re super hungry. It’s the most tender beef I’ve ever had and that beef on beef cream sauce is incredible! This place checks every box and I can see why they’re always so busy. Make a reservation 30 days in advance and then countdown the days to when you can eat here because it’s quite a treat!

Insanely good tasting food that is stunning to look at, enjoyed with a great ambience at a Michelin star restaurant, at a price tag that is surprisingly friendly to your wallet. Reservations are required and can be made on their website. For the prices, food and ambience, this is probably the best Michelin star restaurant experience one can get in New York without spending much. Strongly recommend. They initially provide complimentary pull-apart olive bread with labneh which was quite nice.I had the octopus a la plancha with chorizo and summer squash: great flavors that complimented each other, citrus marinated chicken: great flavor with a huge portion and cinnamon ice cream with buttermilk sorbet and blueberries: buttermilk sorbet was refreshing and had a nice tartness to it and complimented the cinnamon ice cream.

We ordered basically every item from the dinner menu except for the desserts, and we all agreed that it was probably not the best night for crown shy since the experience did not live up to our expectations.• The service was very neglecting. Waited for a long time before we were greeted and attended to.• The branzino was SO DRY. Maillard reaction was overdone to the extent that the skin was unpleasantly bitter.Severa good things: The chicken with hot sauce was surprisingly the highlight of the night. Very juicy and tender. Appetizers are all delicious, especially the olive loaf.Overall an ok experience, but would expect more from a Michelin one star resto.

A fantastic, affordable place for date night. The vegetable dishes are top notch preparations. The sunchokes and the carrots are among the best I’ve ever had. My shoddy pictures are the result of petty low light - but trust me when I say the gruyère fritters are lust-worthy. The lobster pasta was drenched in a beautiful butter-based sauce. I anticipated the pull apart bread being a highlight, but it was actually the labneh they served it with that stole the show. All food items were prepared and portioned well. Nice delicate plating too.The cocktails are remarkable. You could easily go just for cocktails and a few small bites, or a full meal. This is at once the best restaurant in fidi and the best cocktail bar in fidi. Very complicated drinks here that will impress a guest. Some negatives: the service was impersonal not out of courtesy but from necessity for how many tables they’ve placed in this massive space. We weren’t attended to by a consistent team, and I poured my own water more than a handful of times. I would highly recommend they bring in a house sparkling and house still water. I hate contributing to the bottled water industry if I can avoid it. Lastly, a personal gripe, but the restrooms could use a more distinguished hand soap (I believe it was geranium, possibly by Mrs. Meyers). All restaurants should seek to collaborate with a local maker on a unique scent adding to the sensory experience from the restroom to the table.Generally a really great experience and I’d have no issue recommending Crown Shy to visitors and taking friends here. I also quite liked that the bright red exit signs brought drama and ambience to the hallways. Great place, worth a stop.

Special occasions, date nights, dinner with the parents, etc. Crown Shy is a special place and I cant wait to go back..I came on Saturday night with my husband and we had an amazing time. The waiter provided excellent, specific direction on what to order and how much. We never order chicken dining out, but thank god we did, because it was unbelievable - the sauce that comes with it is tangy and memorable. Ill also never be able to recreate the feeling of the first bite of Caramelle, Morels, and Chèvre. I should have ordered 3 more plates of it. A long time fan of this restaurant, havent been since opening week way back in 2019. Went recently for an anniversary dinner and the evening didnt disappoint. Started with cocktails, on the whole very inventive and fun, definitely want to try more of them as my partner and I only had one round before getting seated in the dining room. The dining room is open but not noisy and the atmosphere is kept casual and inviting. Service was attentive but not overbearing and I didnt feel at any point either left forgotten or overly watched. The food was very good and I regret not being able to try more of the menu. A standout for both my partner and I was the Jerk Octopus, very creative and absolutely delicious, shoutout to Chef Kyle for that one. Also a shoutout to Tyler, one of the Sommeliers who guided me toward the perfect bottle of champagne for the occasion without breaking the bank. (Thank you Tyler, youve introduced me to my new favorite champagne) Dessert was my favorite part of the meal as it often so is for me (curse my sweet tooth) we decided on the chocolate cake and the baklava cheesecake. Both amazing and even with my proclivity toward both baklava and cheesecake, the chocolate cake with creme fraiche ice cream was the definitive standout. All in all, a spectacular evening and I cant wait for the next time.

Having read lots of good reviews I was looking forward to trying this new restaurant out.Things didnt start off too well though. I arrived about a minute or two late and one of the greeters took me to the bar where my husband was having a drink. Not quite sure why this was necessary as there were plenty of tables available. I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail which was nicely done by one of the bar tenders and quite interesting.15 minutes later though and still none of the greeters came to seat us. My husband went back outside to remind them that we were still waiting to be seated whilst I stared at all the empty tables...a few minutes later one of the greeters deigned to come seat us. Still not quite sure what the delay was as there were plenty of greeters at the front desk.Given the menu is very limited in choice I was expecting every dish to be pretty much perfect, but taste wise it was fine but overly pretentious in presentation. If they had been charging less it wouldnt be so bad but going for higher end pricing for not higher end food was rather disappointing. Ironically, the bread was good and that was a freebie. The decor is kind of odd too in that you have stone tables but almost cafeteria like chairs. The open kitchen doesnt help in adding to that cafeteria feel. I know theres a trend for open kitchens but I think they missed the mark a bit in the design of the restaurant. The noise levels were loud due to all the hard surfaces, but we were at least seated in a corner so didnt get as much noise and could just about hold a conversation without the need to bellow at each other. It wasnt packed though and I expect itd be pretty noisy when it is.Overall a little disappointing and I doubt Ill be paying a second visit.

Was in town for a quick visit and saw the amazing reviews on Yelp. The restaurant is in a bigger building at 70 Pine. I am not from the area so I am not sure what else is in there...don’t be confused when Uber drops you off and you don’t see it right away! Go inside. We were met at the front desk outside the restaurant...we were about 15 minutes early for our reservation so we were led the to the bar. Ordered a ginger beer non-alcoholic drink that was more pricey than the beer my friend ordered, but it was good. The waitstaff in the bar was super nice...we were seated about 20 minutes later than our reservation even though there were about 10 open tables during that time. A bit odd...but ok.The meal. Oh my. The tempura cauliflower was amazing...crispy and fresh. Not too salty with a little kick. The gruyere fritters were off the hook. Oh my. I could have just eaten small plates. The pull apart bread they give you is good but the spread it came with was confusing...looked like butter but was maybe some sort of sour cream, cream cheese, creamy thing that was just...eh.Of course I ordered the $60 short rib and it was worth that and more. Melt in your mouth amazing. The sides were awesome. My friend ordered the branding and it looked tasty.Try this place...it is a bit uppity, a little loud, and pricey. At the same time, worth it.

Waits for food were perfectly timed, and once on the table, the flavors created a harmonious blend together. I had been looking forward to trying out crown shy for months, so it’s doubly disappointing that it was such a letdown. At best it was forgettable, at worst it was bland. To list some positives: we had a wonderful somm who helped us with our beverages and had maybe the only meaningful conversation with us. Of the food only the tuna toast was a delicious couple of bites and well balanced.Otherwise the food was just very unappealing. Often it just felt that it was missing salt, as the underlying flavors were distantly there. We had the fritters, cauliflower, pears, carpaccio, two pastas, katsu chop, and BBQ platter. There was a slight uptick in flavor with the Gemelli, but both mains really failed to deliver. The coursing was also quite poor and the dishes would arrive cold, and unnecessarily stacked. The staff was also fairly uninterested, robotic and lacked warmth. It was a poor display of hospitality.I hope to give SAGA a try and am really hoping they turn things around.

A wonderful anniversary dinner experience. It was a tad louder than expected, but likely because it was bustling on a holiday weekend (for the few that get Columbus now more appropriately recognized as Indigenous Peoples Day off). Or maybe its actually always popular at 7:15 on a Sunday...Anyway, a few notes. Cocktails are lovely. I had Flightplan. So nice, I had it twice. We shared 5 dishes. Wouldve skipped the snapper. It was not bad but it didnt wow enough for me. The squash, pork chop, and zucchini (which was fried unbeknownst to us, and really all about its dipping sauce) were the highlights. The squid ink pasta was also good but was pasta at the end of the day. I will say considering it was with both lamb and mussels, it was well made (cuz that could go hella wrong hella fast).Dessert was ok. Ice box cake. Nothing to write home about but satiates a sweet tooth.Service - chefs kiss. James is the kind of waiter that would make you ask to sit in his section exclusively. Legit.Overall, yes, Id return for future special moments. Enjoy!

I went to crown shy to celebrate my birthday with a couple of friends and it was a shameful experience. It is a shame to have this kind of restaurant in the Michelin guide. The service was really bad, the server pushed us from the first second to order and didn’t give enough time even for us to enjoy, to have a sit and even see the menu. We didn’t even have water and our drinks in our table but the server came again to pressure us to order our food and, for my surprise, in a really impolite way the server pushed us to order more and more food even after we (in 4 people) had ordered 8 courses. It was super uncomfortable experience specially for an “a la carte” restaurant. In addition, the server took 40 min to bring one of our drinks.Well, the food… 100% ordinary food and anyone can find something better in any corner in NY. The worst part was the chicken main course (in the photo). First of all, the chicken was under cooked and I stopped eating this course when I realized that to avoid any salmonella issue. Secondly, the serve brought this course with part of the chicken hanging outside of the plate and touching the table. My overall opinion beside these 2 details, what an UGLY food and badly execution. The sirloin was OK, but if you consider the price over $100 we paid in this course, I can say this was miserable and again, you can find much better food around. The restaurant name is “crown shy” and I believe the manager should receive this crown of shame. At the end, we considered the service and the food as a bad quality but we still paid gratitude for that terrible night. However, the manager came to our table to argue why we didn’t want to pay 25% gratitude for that kind of experience. They were not looking for a feedback at that moment and they only turned the experience ever worse.Completely bad choice to celebrate my birthday and I will definitely never go back to this restaurant.

Crown Shy started strong with their welcome bread, filled with pistachios, a unique touch that I appreciated, though the pistachio flavor was surprisingly subtle. We began with a small plate that was enjoyable and well-prepared. However, the bread served alongside the hummus was a bit underwhelming – just two pieces to share – and it took about ten minutes to request an additional portion, which disrupted the flow of the meal. The donkatsu arrived next, impressive in size and flavor but overly greasy; I think trimming some of the fat could have elevated it further. The herb-roasted chicken, on the other hand, was beautifully cooked, and the accompanying hot sauce added a great kick, rounding out the dish perfectly.Dessert was satisfying, though the cinnamon on the ice cream was overpowering. I suspect they used cassia cinnamon – a premium choice – but it dominated the flavor profile, leaving the dish slightly unbalanced. Lastly, the ambiance could use a bit of tweaking; the music was quite loud, and the playlist felt a bit out of sync with the vibe of the restaurant, with early 2000s rap that seemed more suited to a different setting.

Crown Shy was unbelievably fantastic. So unpretentious with some of the best cocktails & food I’ve ever had. We arrived early to our reservation and waited at the bar until our table was ready. The bartenders were incredible, recommending the delicious Pair Gin & Tonic. I’m not a huge G&T gal but this cocktail was so light, refreshing and complex. 12/10 recommend trying. We got to our table, which was beside the chefs kitchen. So much fun to watch! I felt as though I was watching a much more organized version of “The Bear”. Truly incredible teamwork. Once we arrived at our table, our server greeted us, brought Perrier and brought over the sommelier, Myles, to help us make a wine choice. He was knowledgeable and helped us pick out a wonderful, full bodied French red.Onto the main event, the appetizers and entrees. We got guyere fritters (which was a fun take on churros), the grilled pear salad and the cauliflower bites. I enjoyed all 3 but my favourite appetizer was definitely the cauliflower bites. The main event here, people, was the entrees. I got the white truffle gnocchi (with table side truffle shaving!!!!) and my partner got the braised short ribs. I don’t usually say something is to “die for” but let me tell you, the truffle gnocchi had me crying tears of joy in a public setting. If you’re a truffle person, don’t bother entertaining another entree option. I have been to my fair share of Michelin star restaurants and this was hands down the best truffle gnocchi. I would rate this a 35/10.We didn’t need to, but we finished dinner with espresso and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were incredible. It was also my birthday so they brought a little chocolate with a candle in it, which was an adorable touch. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Crown Shy. 15/10 recommend going here when in NYC!

Expect a meal with an innovative blend of ingredients with brilliant flavors that create this masterpiece on a plate. The service was slightly laid back but in a very good way. Our waiter was attentive but relaxed, which created an easy atmosphere at the table. Pull apart olive bread with sour cream butter and sea salt, Yea-Delicious. Started with 3 small plates. Gruyere Fritter which are savory in ever sense. They look like churros and my mind wants to eat it expecting sweet cinnamon fried dough but its a savory mindf*ck. Salty gooey melty greyere cheese flows through this buttery-ish pastry. Awesome. The roasted carrot swimming in the razor clam foam, never would i thought clams and carrots but it works. Carrots cooked through with a slight char on the outside. Razor clam broth and foam bring a sea salt/salinity to the earthy charred carrots. Great idea. They honey squash with pomegranate was naturally sweet with that pop of fruit. Great presentations. Entrees were no exception. My friend ordered the Branzino. Roasted and shaved Brussel sprouts and shaved cucumber on to of a center split, 2 filet fresh catch. Cucumber was ever so slightly present which truly elevated the dish. I had the quail over farro. As we know quail is small and easily over cooked, this was a good size and portion and perfectly roasted. The jus was reminiscent of a beef broth but not as bold. Absorbed by the farro which brought its own semi cooked texture and flavors to blend perfectly with the quail. Dessert was honey ice box cake and banana ice cream with caramel popcorn aka craker jacks on top. I commend this restaurant for only serving Australian wines during this time of need. A portion of the wines go to the Koala hospital in NSW and for the Australian Red Cross. I started with a pinot noir from Adelaide Hills called The Sabre, then a McLaren Vale Shiraz labeled Sherrah and finished with The Sticky Stump Jump by dArenberg. Cheers!

The leaves on top were also packed with umami. The smoked octopus with red rice was new to me in terms of texture and flavor, unique. we ended with the sticky toddy pudding (was full at that point but couldn’t resist) and we made the best choice. A great spot for dinner, the atmosphere was nice - large, modern and vibey with 90’s hip hop playing in the background. Service was super friendly and attentive from start to finish and the food was very good. I started with their Gruyère fritters, kind of a savory cheesy churro, which while not necessarily amazing were a fun start. The katsu pork chop though was a highlight - extremely juicy and tender with the sauce bringing great umami flavors. It’s also fairly substantial. Did the place rise to the level of other Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to? Probably not, but the prices aren’t as high as some others I’ve been to either so all in all I left satisfied.

Lastly, we got the sticky toffee pudding for two, which comes with a green apple sorbet that balances the sweetness of the toffee pudding. Every dish we got we loved. It was so hard to choose a favorite! To me, the cauliflower, chicken, caramelle and sticky toffee pudding are must gets. But I don’t think you can go wrong!

We came here to celebrate our anniversary, hoping for an unforgettable evening. Unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. To start, the service was abysmal. Despite the restaurant’s prestigious reputation, the staff was inattentive and indifferent to our needs. We were left waiting far too long for our orders to be taken, and it seemed as though the staff was more focused on the table next to us, even though they arrived after us and received their food before we did.The food itself was another disappointment. The gruyere dish in particular was a disaster, tasting unpleasantly like a mix of dog food and cardboard. For a Michelin star restaurant, we expected a culinary delight, but what we received was far from it. Furthermore, there were very limited vegetarian options for my husband and the waiter almost forgot to tell us that there was pork gelatin in most of the dessert options.Adding to the disheartening experience, there was no acknowledgment of our anniversary, not even a small gesture to mark the occasion. After enduring such poor service and lackluster food, a simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way in salvaging the evening.Overall, Crown Shy failed to live up to its Michelin star status. We left feeling ignored and unsatisfied, and we won’t be returning.

What an addition to the Fidi restaurant scene. It being a 1 starred restaurant guarantees a certain level of excellence, and they do not disappoint. It’s a well thought out and designed space and had the best playlist on during lunch (think J Dilla type vibes - they even have a Spotify playlist, which I love). We had the lunch prix fixe, 3 course for $45, with some pictures below.Highly recommended and I will certainly head back for brunch in addition to Saga (I think it’s going to be called) which will occupy the 65th and 66th floor of the same build and is going for 3 stars...more to come from this exciting group.

An absolutely stellar dining experience. We were seated within minutes of arriving (we had a reservation) and were quickly welcomed by our server. He was super helpful and attentive the entire night, but never over-explained anything which was very much appreciated. My partner and I started with the gruyere fritters and the ricotta gnocchi, both of which were amazing. (Our personal favorite was definitely the fritters, though!)After that, we enjoyed the roasted short rib with yucca and lahoh pancakes, which was phenomenal. There were so many ways you could combine all the flavors, so every bite felt like something new, and the short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender. We ended by ordering the chocolate cake for dessert. Id also been thinking about getting the satsuma orange ice cream, but decided against it because I was already starting to feel full. Im not sure if one of the staff overheard me or if it was just a happy coincidence, but we ended up getting the satsuma orange ice cream as well, compliments of the staff, and it was AMAZING. The chocolate cake was great as well, but the satsuma orange ice cream with the marshmallow really stole the show.Overall, Crown Shy was a great dining experience and Ill definitely be looking forward to coming again when Im in town.

Our sommelier was knowledgeable, and passionate about her work, we enjoyed our wine and her service.Needs improvement:Bring back printed menus, I’m sure I’m not the only person who doesn’t want to be in their phone, or the iPad that they provide. Why are they using QR codes at a Michelin restaurant? Our server was half checked out, and dispassionate about her job.Low points:Crown Sky looks and feels like a restaurant that’s suffering from its own success. It’s felt like it was on auto pilot, we just weren’t sure where they were taking us.

Drinks are made expertly with engraved ice- 5 stars! Decor is stylish, minimalistic, and matches from dining room to bathroom to menus. Food was eclectic - new and unexpected pairings like chicken liver ragu with horseradish or puffy fried bread with a smoky, drippy hummus. One star docked for service and we felt that we were being urged to leave. Two people, two cocktails a piece, 5 dishes = $200 including tip. Not bad for NYC but it’s still high end. Though the Le Labo soap in the bathroom was super appreciated - smelled so nice!

If the food wouldve been exquisite, I wouldnt have minded the prices... but unfortunately that wasnt the case. We loved the desert (the baklava cheesecake with apple), the gnocchi was good.. the branzino with the brussels sprouts was bitter and burnt in many spots; Im sure the char was intentional but some areas were straight up black, burnt and bitter - just not a pleasant bite. The Hamachi had a very good flavor. It was very hard to understand our server. People tend to be loud so I guess I understand the volume for the music, I just felt bad that I kept having her repeat what she was saying.

Where do I even begin? We came here on Valentines day. The restaurant was super crowded, and service was terribly slow. The cocktails were way too sweet and they skimped out on liquor. I usually am content to drink one cocktail; here I ordered 3 and barely felt a buzz. The food was a flop. One star out of five compared to reputable places like Henrys End, where they actually know how to prepare a chicken thigh without drying it out so much that you need to wash it down with the fruit punch they desperately try to pass off as cocktails at Crown Shy.We ended up not finishing all of our food, and I asked for a to go box. They told us to pick it up at the front. I waited for over 20 minutes, after which they informed us that they lost our food. $600 spent on dinner; the least they could do was to get the to-go box right, but they couldnt even manage that.We were approached by the manager - Daisy Wither. She offered us her apologies, said to email her, and that theyd take care of us. To no ones surprise, she completely ghosted me when I tried to get in touch. Honestly, Im not even mad. Id pay $600 to NOT to eat their mediocre chicken again.

A very enjoyable dining experience but not a perfect one. The service was not fantastic, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant. It took a while to get water and menus at the beginning and there was a long gap between appetizers and entrees. Among food issues: the pasta came out just warm and the gruyere fritters fell flat. But they gave us a free round of drinks to make up for all the issues so we appreciated that. The rest of the food was pretty stellar though: the pork, the chicken, the scallop, the salted caramel ice cream.

We went for brunch. It was very good!Crown Shy is a pretty nice restaurant, proudly showcasing its Michelin Star near the entrance. At the start of our meal I asked about the ingredients in their yogurt item (we wanted to order it for our son), and I was told it “probably had a large amount of sugar”, but they weren’t sure. When I inquired about plain yogurt, I was quickly notified that they only serve items listed on the menu. I was a bit concerned about the space-time paradox that may have been created from a restaurant both not knowing what’s on its menu while simultaneously only serving items from said menu, but nonetheless I pressed on.The food was very good! The Babka was fluffy with a nice texture, the French Toast perfectly prepared, the omelette creamy and delicious, and the steak and eggs… also very good. The cream and chimichurri combination on the steak was especially memorable, surpassing a similar sauce concept from Skipper’s Canteen at Walt Disney World. Is that the standard I compare things to? Yes.When the bill came, I was amazed that the fine-dine quality menu was priced just a hair above the average brunch place in the area, despite being head and shoulders better in quality and while employing a ballpark estimate of 10 million wait staff (all of whom are very nice). We ordered 4 items (3 meals and the Babka) and our bill came in at under $100. Amazing! We would definitely come back to Crown Shy and highly recommend it.

I cant stop thinking about the poor Quail that died to make my husbands gross entrée! I know they dont live very long anyway, but how sad!I dont care to eat small, adorable birds, raw sea bass, or things made with pig juice, so I can appreciate that the menu just wasnt totally for me or my dinner companions. But in my experience, if things are cooked well enough, it almost doesnt matter what your preferences are. We did appreciate the good service (a tinge over the top though, if Im being honest), but it didnt compensate for how overpriced and disappointing the food was. We enjoyed the bread and gruyere fritters. The hummus was good, but served with virtually nothing and it certainly wasnt good enough to eat spoonfuls of by itself.Beautiful place in a stunning old building, but the music was so bad that it made us uncomfortable. Went for restaurant week and was pretty disappointed. Took a long time to be seated even though we had reservations. Scallop appetizer was literally a scallop, and a small one at that, surrounded by vegetables. In the dark, they kind of looked like scallops but alas they were not. Chicken entree was very dry and overpowered with sauce. Toffee pudding dessert was quite good. Service slow and not particularly friendly. Front desk completely ignored us as we left. Atmosphere was loud, could hardly hear anything my wife was saying. Maybe thats the point though, it didnt look like she would have had much good to say about the food either.UPDATE: after dining here, I discovered my credit card was also overcharged. Bad controls or unscrupulous staff? Who knows but had an additional hassle of having to get that corrected. This bad experience just keeps on giving even after you think the subpar meal is complete.

We went here during restaurant week. Dont get me wrong, the food themselves were delicious (especially the toffee pudding). However, Im not sure if the restaurant week makes the restaurant particularly busy (regardless, with our visit being on a Saturday evening, the restaurant should have been ready for a crowd), but the service was definitely not on par with the food. We had to wait about 50 minutes to get our main after starters, which themselves took about 20~30 minutes to arrive at the table. As a result, we had an average of 30~40 minutes between each course, leaving us constantly waiting for food to arrive. Despite the rather delicious food, I am disappointed to say that the lasting impression we had after visiting the restaurant was more of waiting for our food rather than enjoying the meal.

However, we were never offered any, and when we inquired about it, the server told is it would be $12. This was odd since it is not on the menu and many reviews mention it is complimentary, so not sure why it was not for us. This sub-par service made us feel unwelcome. The food quality was ok, nothing memorable, and the portions were shockingly small. There are many other great restaurants to visit in NYC that have better food and service, so would recommend checking one of those out instead.

Service I got from the server this time was the worst experience ever during my stay in NYC. She was so busy and kept pushing us during our meal. Our seat was just next to the cleaning area and I felt that she is not thinking of people sitting around that area. She was throwing spoons, knifes away. I didnt tell her about this situation but it was loud and noisy enough to interrupt our dinner. Also she just murmured every word when she is asking something to us, which was extremely difficult to understand. Even at sometimes, she did not say anything about what she was doing to us.I expected this dinner at the Crown Shy from 2 months ago and hoped to have a nice time at the crown shy, but it was awful moments. He said he would check with the chef and if it does then they will just add more berries on top. Despite mentioning my allergy multiple times, they brought out the yogurt with almond granola on top. This restaurant has an open kitchen and was almost completely empty when we were there so we could see and hear what was happening in the kitchen. When the waiter took back the yogurt, we heard the chef claim that almonds arent a tree nut (??). It was such an average dining spot I truly do not understand why the reviews are so good. It tasted fresh…but BAD. like they have good quality food but they don’t know how to use it. For a Michelin star restaurant the food was extremely underwhelming. The citrus marinated chicken was so bland. The menu has like ten food items on it total. The only good item on it was the appetizer “crispy hen in the woods” but still does not make the overall experience worth it. The service is okay but it’s not anything particularly special? Ambiance is good but there are tons of other restaurants that actually have good food with the ambiance. My friend said that the squid ink pasta smelled like B.O… Yes sweat. It was so gross, texture was bad, and I just wouldn’t recommend at all. Potato fritters or whatever the other appetizer option was called: tasted like they had gone bad. Crown & Shy is the only one that made us feel uncomfortable. We were not allowed to order appetizers first, but forced to get everything at once. They also rushed all dishes out together super fast like a factory streamline. I ask if they could take out one by one but the server refused. I don’t know why they had to push us so much, maybe because they already have a big name and don’t care anymore, just getting as much $$ as possible. I visited an exceptional one-star Michelin restaurant in New York City for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. While the dim lighting made it challenging to capture good photos of the food, the cuisine itself was superb. Although the wine list was extensive and slightly pricey, they offered corkage for a fee of $50 if you brought your own bottle, which was reasonable, especially if it was a premium wine. The restaurant offered an à la carte menu, allowing us to select our preferred dishes. The starters were on the smaller side, resembling tapas. We opted for the Gruyère fritters, a delightful choice that paired well with red wine. The crispy exterior and gooey cheese interior were simply delicious. The snapper with yuzu kosho was appetizing, with the raw fish being exceptionally fresh. Similarly, the hamachi with lemon balm and strawberry was equally delightful. In hindsight, ordering only one type of dish might have been a better choice. The grilled octopus with mussel and spring onion was unique but slightly overcooked. However, the cavatelli with uni and pancetta infused with spicy tomatoes was lovely, perfect for sharing. The pork katsu was a definite highlight and a must-try. It was generously sized, requiring 2-3 people to share, and cooked to perfection, moist inside with a crispy exterior, complemented by the Shiso sauce and garlic. By this point, you should be thoroughly satisfied, especially when paired with a good red wine. The waitress was knowledgeable and patient, taking the time to explain each dish we ordered. Overall, it was a great place to unwind and enjoy exceptional cuisine.

It was a pleasant experience! Sticky toffee was the highlight of the meal followed by branzino. The hot sauce that came with the chicken was quite flavorful and unique. Would visit again!

The food at Crown Shy is simply phenomenal. We were a group of 7 and nearly ordered every item on the menu. All were fantastic but some were the stand outs: the scallop, the pasta (picture below), the chicken (picture below) I cannot emphasize chicken enough, and the bread (picture below). We were seated at the table next to the kitchen which was an experience on its own.

The food was just not good. Not worth the money. We also went for the two specials (truffle gnocchi and ribeye) and they were just bland and under/over cooked. Desserts were also disappointing and too salty. Plenty of not Michelin starred spots around nyc and FiDi that have better food. Please go elsewhere.

My husband and I ate here last week. I was so excited to visit Crown Shy after reading all of the reviews however I have to say that the food was nowhere near the level I was expecting. Our favorite dish was the octopus but everything else was quite mediocre. The venue was difficult to locate but once we did it had a great atmosphere & the staff that work there are AMAZING! Our server was so knowledgeable and we really appreciated her.

Sit at table #51 if you want to see the chefs at work. There are some standouts at Crown Shy and some things that could’ve been improved on.The must haves:The sticky toffee pudding with pecans was outstanding and the acidity of the green apple sorbet cut straight through the sweetness. Amazing palette cleanse. The Satsuma orange ice cream with a honeycomb brittle and toasted marshmallow was amazing! I think the orange can even be a tad more citrusy.Scallops - excellent dish and they even had 7 pieces for us.Cauliflower was great, tasted almost like Brussels sproutsGruyère fritters 7 pieces cheesy and deliciousChicken was tender, the sauce was amazing, sweet and nice soy sauce glazeThe corn for the side of the roasted short rib was out of this world but the beef was okay. Some of the side ingredients stood out more than the main ingredients. The pancake and corn was better than the beef. The sauce overpowered the octopus dish. The papaya tomatillo elevated the pork chop and might have paired better with another dish. The prawn sauce was overpowering as well. Barely tasted the prawns. The dishes on the bottom of my list are the romaine lettuce and the squid ink. To me, it would’ve been more interesting if the lettuce was made like a lasagna layer where each layer had some radish, breadcrumbs scallions but only the top lettuce got it. One friend did say “the lettuce was fire”. Which is ridiculous. For the squid ink, there was too much olives in the sauce which was more like a paste. And the squid looked like baby enoki mushrooms cut 3 ways. The tomato dish was also okay but probably wouldn’t get again either.Service was excellent. This is a place to bring a group of friends and it was affordable for a Michelin star place. If you’ve never been to a Michelin star place, this is a good start. It’s not stuffy, they got a Buddha Biggie and the music is old school. Loud and not a place for a first date. But fun overall.

I went to crown shy on a Friday night of august 2021 at 9pm with reservation. The restaurant is very beautiful and the staff is very cordial. However, there were a few negative notes:- the room was extremely cold (even with jacket)- I was expecting more about the food: watermelon with feta was actually very good. The cauliflower was good but a little too heavy. The pork Milanese was good but the fry crust was very thick (however the meat was very good inside). The octopus was not good in my opinion, and was impossible for me and my guest to finish it. It seemed it wasn’t fresh. Same issue with the bread. For dessert we had a tart, it was good but the “crust” of the tart was very hard to cut.Maybe we just got unlucky, but from a food perspective we were expecting much more!

Food is delicious, and the service is nice. It’s not bad for 1 star restaurants. The price is reasonable, you can see chef is doing their job.
