Exceptional culinary experience at the Chateau 49! The exquisite flavors delighted my taste buds, accompanied by a warm ambiance that made the evening truly memorable. Noteworthy is the swift service and incredibly friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Château 49 is one of my favorite spots. The food and wine are excellent. It’s such a warm and cozy atmosphere. They also have a great happy hour special. Would definitely recommend for after work drinks or a date night!
Amazing place to chill, catch up with friends, and sip great wine at an affordable price.Nothing egregious. Might come back for their burger next time.Update - 3.13.2021The burger was exceptional - medium rare melts with buttery quality and fresh crisp lettuce and tomatoes. Can’t go wrong with truffle fries. Reasonable prices on wines.
Please read other 1 star reviews. Youll get exactly what Im about to say. Ive been here multiple times, and I always order the poulet roti. I was so excited until I received a piece of flat brown meat chicken with slimy, undercooked skin on top. It looked AWFUL. I can count on one hand how many times Ive returned food. I am kind and generous with folx in the industry. I immediately said, I cant eat this to be met with some of the absolute worst customer service Ive ever received. The person behind the bar (maybe the owner?) was confrontational and belittled me while forcefully telling me I needed to eat it. We proceeded to have a contentious back and forth because Im not going to be convinced to eat something I am damn certain I dont want. He finally slammed it in the trash, told me I was wasting food, and demanded that I had to order something else because he wasnt going to take it off of the bill. I really didnt want anything else given how incredibly unpleasant he is, but he insisted and treated me like I was trying to scam him. I have to note that I didnt take ONE bite of that chicken. I chose to stay for cheese out of principle because I wasnt going to leave my money on the table. I just wanted a relaxed catchup on a Friday afternoon at a cozy local place (that before this I actually really liked), not Chickengate 2024. The service was rude, abrupt and unkind.
Cozy restaurant / bar where you can go for happy hour with colleagues or dinner with friends and family. Im sure lunch will be good too. You can get $7 wines during happy hour. Space gets bustling for dinner.
The food here is fantastic! The service is just as good as the food as well. Its hard to find a small NYC restaurant with such a big personality and a great menu. The team here executes their dishes in a way that you know they would love to eat what they are sending out to every table, the flavor and presentation are impeccable. I highly recommend this little gem. The photo is the escargot appetizer.
Went for brunch and ordered the mushroom crepe. It was the blandest and worst crepe I’ve ever had. When I complained , Manuel the server was incredibly rude and did not even replace it. This place has gone completely downhill. Please shut down.
Had high expectations about this place ... I tried the foie gras and beef bourguignon. The foie gras was good but somehow I thought it was missing a little bit of flavor. They serve it with a fig reduction that had a good taste but also felt it was missing something. The beef bourguignon was a little bit disappointing. It felt a little bit watery and bland. Beef texture was inconsistent with some pieces on the rubbery side. Service was good. Maybe it was an off day.
I faced significant challenges due to the service I received. I had to scramble to find change because John didnt believe my money was real and had no method to verify it. I was unsure how to handle the situation or where to begin. Despite my efforts, I received no assistance, and my girlfriend was held until I could collect the necessary change from local restaurants. While I don’t want to suggest that the issue was related to race, it was clear that a better system for verifying money is needed. The rainy day had left my money wet, and Johns lack of support and dismissive attitude were the most troubling aspects of the experience.
Very nice place for happy hour. Cozy and good food, though a little too expensive
Rocco is the best. Great wine and food. Love the regulars and overall vibe here. Worth a visit!
We were there for one drink. The waiterss took our credit cards & disappeared, my friend followed her, she already used them, when we said you are not allowed to do that, she said that we should « trust her ».My bank app showed that she used the card twice, but she insisted that she didn’t.She was rude. She brought us receipts to sign.My bank deducted the amount twice with the bank fee.
We really wanted to enjoy a nice evening with wine and good food on a weekday and ended up in Chateau. They have happy hour drinks till 7pm for $9 a glass which is a good value. The only disappointing part of this evening was the service. We wanted to order the 2nd round of drinks before the happy hour cut, and the server denied them for friends with half full glasses. Then we all ordered main plates, and while still working on our food the waiter brought us the check. We didnt give it too much thought, as we werent done and wanted to also enjoy desserts. So we ordered their flan and dessert wines and were trying to enjoy the evening. Thats when the waiter told us to hurry up because they needed the table for someone else.It was exactly 1 hour from the time we sat at the table until we were asked to empty the table. Not the best feeling for your $60+ pp cost. I wouldnt come back here just because of the service. If they were upfront that we get only 1hr at the table, that would have been more fair.
Subject: Feedback on Delivery ServiceI wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent experience with your delivery service.I’ve dined at your restaurant before and have always enjoyed the delicious food. However, I was quite surprised by the delivery experience. The food arrived in a plastic bag, which felt more appropriate for a diner than a restaurant of your caliber. I expected a more appealing presentation, maybe even in a paper bag like other restaurants in the neighborhood.I believe that the delivery experience should match the quality of your food, and I hope you consider enhancing your packaging. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback, and I look forward to enjoying your food again, hopefully with an improved delivery experience.Best regards,Neighbor
What a fantastic wine bar! Rocco and his staff are so hospitable and welcoming. I hosted a business dinner last week at Chateau 49 for 20 people, all with pretty discerning palates. The wines and food did not disappoint! Their flatbreads, octopus, steaks, escargot and duck were delicious - not a morsel was left on the plate. The staff was very attentive. They made sure to pace the food appropriately and kept the wine flowing so that our dinner was lively and high energy. So glad I picked this place instead of a stuffy steakhouse or long drawn out dinner. Attentive staff, delicious food, high quality wines and a relaxed, casual ambience. Highly recommend it for group outings.
We arrived 1 hr before closing time for having some drinks and they refused to give us a table, and the owner was very rude.
Chateau 49 is a corner property with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has both covered and uncovered options. The location is perfect for people watching. The interior is small with. bar area in the front of the restaurant. On the day I visited there was a single server and bartender. However the server was great! The food was fresh and beautifully prepared. I had salmon and the chef accommodated order modifications to account for allergies. The wine was very reasonably priced and they even had happy hour specials on the weekend! The bar area can be a bit boisterous but the meal exceeded my expectations. This is a neighborhood gem!
One of my two favorite restaurants in Manhattan. I go to New York a couple weeks every few months and I always eat here or get takeout at least a couple times. Ive tried most of the main courses on the menu and everything has been excellent. Crispy Brussels sprouts side order is a favorite that I always order. Unavoidably not as crispy when ordered for takeout, but still delicious. Also a great place to stop in late night for a glass of wine or single malt scotch.Owners are very friendly and service is great.
Just okay, the burger was average almost flavorless??t The chicken had soft skin rather than crispy. Overall just okay.
Food was great, ambience was also good.
Great service. Amazing food! Good wine. Atmosphere is good too. Good place for a early dinner in New York! Enjoy!
There are very good happy hour specials here. Service is a little curt. The food portions are small. There is enclosed outdoor seating. If you’re really into wine, they have a large selection.
Amazing service, great wine and food menu, and tasty craft cocktails. Love the atmosphere especially in Summer with open air.
Its an excellent place for a nice dinner and a great drink. Everything was delicious, and the service was excellent.
My wife and I discovered this place while staying near by. We loved it! Friendly owner / bartender, great low key neighborhood vibe, good happy hour deals 12-7 every day. We went back the next day for lunch, I loved the coq au Riesling.
Absolutely LOVE this neighborhood gem. The owners treat everyone like family and is the reason they have so many regulars. The wine selection is fantastic and the food is delicious!! Everything on the menu is great, favorites are the chicken, burger, tuna tartare and lobster Mac n’ cheese. Come early, there’s a reason it’s hard to get a seat once happy hour rolls around. Can’t wait to go back!
Very friendly let us sit in there before they even opened. Fantastic food and great mimosas. I would recommend to anyone
Extremely attentive staff and the food is SO FRESH. The seafood is seasond perfectly and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend if you enjoy kind people and food to die for!!!
Came for dessert and drinks, ordered a glass of wine, mentioned to waiter that it didn’t taste right. His response “no one else complained, you’ll have to pay for it”. I usually don’t like to send things back or write a bad review but this was horrible.
Kelly provided amazing service made me feel like a real New Yorker as a transplant from Omaha, Nebraska! Would recommend Chateau 49 to anyone ask for Kelly!
We had a Thanksgiving dinner here with friends - exquisite. The wines are lovely and the food is equally as good. Prepared with great skill; served with a smile; 5 stars. Go here now.
Food was good. Lots of flavor in the escargot and burrata. Steak burger was good. Pasta had a little too much truffle oil. Fries were in pieces like lots of small bits stuck together then some long ones. Service was good, just too cold for outdoor. Definitely recommend.
Great ambiance, excellent food, very good wine selections. Steak frite, half roasted chicken, grilled octapus, tuna tartare and burger.
Chateau 49 is without a doubt one of the best French Restaurants in New York City. The atosmephere is laid back and welcoming, giving the vibe of a chic restaurant in the French countryside. The drinks are world class, made by one of the best bartenders in the city. I can highly recommend a Mezcal Old Fashioned or an Espresso Martini. The wine list is also exceptional, with a selection of around 50 wines, it will be very difficult to find any restaurant that can match the quality and amount of wine that Chateau has.The food is absolutely incredible and a must have fir those who believe they do not like French cuisine. Before coming here, I was not a fan of snails, like most people, however one taste of the buttery and garlicky Escargots here was what changed my mind. You will never have a better escargot anywhere outside of France. The signature burger is incredible and I highly recommend it with the truffle fries. It easily gives well known burger spots like Gotham Burgers a run for the money, with the atmosphere putting them over the top. There isna lot more I could say about this amazing little restaurant but this review is long enough as it is. I highly recommend everyone from locals to tourists come and try it out because I can promise that most who come will end up regulars, just like I did.
Great wine, delicious food, friendly staff, and lots of outdoor seating options! The burger and lamb shank are fantastic! Fries are tasty as is the escargot appetizer.
Nice looking place. Decent drinks and service. But the food is not good. Terrible versions of French cuisine.
Always a great time at Chateau 49. Warm service, good food well priced and friendly atmosphere.
Tried this local spot for Restaurant week to go. The chicken leg was served in a gravy with spinach. The lobster mac and cheese was very creamy, generous portion and sufficient lobster flesh. Probably the best thing weve ordered from Chateau 49. The side of brussel sprouts was delicious, well fried and greasy. The size of the side of vegetables was a little bit disappointing.Lots of deals on wine bottles to go.
Delicious food from passionate, committed owners. A true neighborhood gem. We love ordering delivery from Château 49, but we also love supporting them because of how many free meals they have delivered to frontline medical workers and first responders since March 2020. A+
Service was really rude, we were pushed around and rushed
Great food, great staff. I will definitely be back.
11$ for 4 grilled asparagus nothing more; garnish, sauce...?! What can I add. Disappointing
Homey and classy, this welcoming bistro has become a favourite when Im in town. Formerly Matisse, it has been comfortably and beautifully updated but still has many of the same french classic dishes I look forward to, especially the foie gras. Delicious food, great wines and lovely owners.
Pleasantly surprised by this find. We had a event nearby and we wanted to go to a place that wasnt a bar bar. Happy hour had a nice selection of wines that were good, not mass market red and white. Since we have a regularly scheduled event nearby this place has also become a regular scheduled event.
Cozy, intimate atmosphere. Good and reasonably priced drink range for a wine bar. Decent outdoor seating and fine amount of fresh air inside when weather is nice.
Chateau 49 is more than a local neighborhood eatery. The customer service is filled with warmth, laughter and quality ingredients.Vibrant yet elegant, the food and libations are something to write home about. Where else in NYC can you enjoy fresh French dishes while sipping on eclectic wine/spirits options all on a very reasonable price point. Not to mention, the husband and wife duo who are extremely inviting and never forget a face. Please, don’t hesitate to at least give it a try, you won’t regret it!
Good happy hour wines. A bit noisy and limited vegetarian options.Went a second time for brunch. Yummy. Great in-between meeting place for me in Chelsea and friend on UES.
Delicious food. Drinks are coming any time. Rrok is the man. Love it
Happy Bastille day! Celebrating at my favorite spot, Chateau 49!
Listing says open until 1:30 am Sat., but kitchen closes at 10:00 pm.
Would have been one star but my dining companion liked his coq au vin. Dry martini wasnt dry and was watery, the mussels in my dish were mushy and obviously werent alive when cooked (RIP), and the server gave me an argument about it. First time Ive ordered mussels frites where the fries are extra. There are many better options nearby for the money.
Amazing atmosphere and staff! They really take care of you and create a warm, welcoming spot to wind down with a few friends and drinks after a long day!!
Kick ass champagne bar in NYC
Lovely wine bar with a great selection and excellent ambiance. There’s indoor seating and a very cute outdoor patio. Definitely recommend!
Very disappointed. This place is HIGHLY OVERRATED. The only reason it has positive reviews is because regulars get hooked up with drinks from the owner. If you are not a regular the service is horrible, the food is mediocre at best, mgmt/ownership sucks and my martini wasn’t even made properly. In my option there’s no reason to dine here with so many other good options in the area
Nice place for drinks and apps after work. Great for date or small groups.
Nice small wine bar one avenue over from smith and wollensky. Went here to have a glass of wine while waiting for our reservation. Good happy hour.
Excellent food and drinks, excellent service, the bartender is very friendly and good host.
Food was excellent but service was bad. There was some misunderstanding about our order and they brought out the wrong dish. Waitress said flatly she’s not taking it back.
This is just like home sweet home I love this place one of my best places ever also Rocky Rockss
Had a wonderful meal here with some friends and will definitely be back. Drinks were good, food was great, an easy good spot to gather
Nice, quiet and small French restaurant for a reasonably priced glass of wine or quick eats. Friendly and attentive staff.
Total buzzkill experience, cute corner location thought we would give this neighborhood place s try, My wife didn’t like her wine and asked the waiter for a change and the owner/ bartender came to our table and lectured her on having to throw out a whole glass of wine. Embarrassing and insulting, poor customer service. We paid and left without finishing. Total buzzkill.
One if my favorite places to have lunch. The duck breast, mussels and salmon meals are all amazing so far!
I’ve eaten there out of convenience once or twice and the food was not good. When I went in to use the restroom about an hour after I had eaten there and they refused and said it was for customers only. Waitress was rude and snobby
Rocco and Flo are some of the best people I have known. The food is divine and the drinks are perfectly balanced and well priced.
Very nice escargot, not the usual buttery sauce that’s over garlicky. This was a cream sauce and was fabulous.
The bottomless mimosas were definitely worth it and the chateau pain perdu brought my taste buds into a whole other dimension of sweet and savory flavors.
The bartender was excellent. Very clean. I loved the mussels. Its really fun to eat outside.
Great happy hour, awesome charcuterie options, great drinks, good energy and attentive service. I will be a repeat customer for sure.
Google is WRONG. NOT open until midnight. Kitchen closes at 9:30pm and bar at 10pm. Don’t come here if you expect late night dining. Staff was not friendly. Not coming back.
Nice atmosphere, great service and good happy hour deals on wine. Owners are friendly and welcoming.
Fine place. Variety of wines are not good enough for a “Wine bar”, as for me. But open till late night (only bar).
Excellent service, delicious fish. Thank you for perfect dinner
Horrible service, wouldn’t give us chairs because they were convinced that we are not worth it (since we age going to order that much).
Fun bar with French flair and wines...lots to choose from... also happy hour and dining options...cozy warm ambiance...
I come here all the time. Great service, good happy hour. The croques for brunch are great.
No comment, u have to try it, if you dont try it you will never enjoy it, the best fav chicken i ever have it 🤙🤙
Very nice place in NYC. It was so quiet in Manhattan. The play list is like the barman.... So good! Thanks you!
Food was nice, win HH was good for a late lunch/early dinner. Service needs to get better
The best Wine bar i have never been ! The service was wonderful and they have great bottle of wines..
Outstanding French food and the nicest owners. Great brunch and the escargot is a must try. Highly recommend to anyone who loves high quality, affordable food!
Great happy hour wines. Creme brûlée sensational. Service complements the food and wine.
Best wine place so far , and the food it’s great here !! I’ll be back again for sure :) thanks a ton
Great food, always fresh. Variety of wine/drink selections
Great happy hour specials and the staff are all super accommodating! Will definitely be back!
Neighborhood wine bar run with skill, passion and dedication by its hands on owners. Appealing selection, too.
Very chill vibe, decent selection of wines and the food was great. One of the best happy hours 12-7... WHAT?? yup and a great selection of drinks during happy Hour.
Such a great neighborhood place with great food, amazing cocktails and the nicest owners!
This is my neighborhood bar.Have had drinks/ wine here several times before. I was with a party of 4 ordered drinks and apps. I ordered your spicy margarita that I had twice before. It was not drinkable. Not sure what the bartender did. The waiter was very kind but then the big rude bartender walks out.Very rudely says “ I will not take another drink back. “ as if my game was to order a second drink and ask for it to be returned. He was cruel and embarrassing. He said it’s measured. I told him to taste it. He refused. I have owned ,managed and worked in restaurants for many years.I have never been treated so rude. Sadly my friends were visiting from Paris and were shocked by the bartenders rudeness !If the owner reads this you should really speak to your bartender. That’s no way to treat customers. Your actions the street not so happy neighbor. !!.
Absolutely a great wine bar “in the neighborhood “ with a extensive menu wonderful food.
Absolutely rude, unacceptable service by the bartender/owner- I ordered a glass of wine which didn’t taste quite right, so asked for a replacement which was refused. Wine wasn’t taken off the bill, even though I sent it back after the first sip. Owner said he had enough customers so didn’t care that we were unhappy. I would leave zero stars if I could. Plenty of nice places in the area, we are locals here, so happy to walk across the street to La cava or Sophie’s wine bar.
Chateau 49 is the best wine bar in the neighborhoodhad a great time eating delicious food and drinking a nice wine the stuff were committed to great service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome and I definitely liked that you have a very modern style. Most importantly, every food and drink in menu tasted great!
Great vibe, although wine collection is not good.
Delicious food and lovely owners. Absolute treat dining here.
Wine is very meh, the bartender was very rude and we were very rushed to leave our seats, very difficult to enjoy the place. I won’t even say about the food. Way better places across the street like La cava.
This is simply the best food in the neighborhood.Try the Chicken Riesling.Rokko is the best
Loved the wine selection, great bartender and the escargot!
Food critics say the foods prepared in excellence
GREAT service, large variety of wines to chose from and wonderful food!
Excellent restaurant. The best neighborhood place for food and wine.
Friendly. Food was excellent. Had the seared tuna salad.
Great place for happy hour if you are around midtown :)
I loved the place, the ambiance and the food was delicious
Great vibes and fast service. Awesome happy hour deals.
Great neighborhood place. Small , cosy with good french food
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and relaxing for enjoying a chat and a brew.
This is my fave or it’s wine bar in all of Manhattan. Locals , good people , really friendly owners that like to get to know you. Great wine and food with a cozy atmosphere. I always take family and friends from out of town. You cannot go wrong here
A little noisy but a great experience. Top shelf service, excellent food.
Amongst the best tasting and quality French restaurants in New York at an unbeatable value. Owners are also very friendly and hardworking
Very small pour of wine at happy hour. Poor service. Plenty of other places to go, much nicer also, in the neighborhood.
Lovely environment and the reception was like no other. Amazing service
Best Happy Hour, Great Ambience and Tasty Food!
Amazing place! Thanks Flo for being such a great host...
This wine bar nestled in the bustling midtown district exudes a cozy ambiance and is truly a hidden gem. What sets this place apart is the exceptional staff, who are the driving force behind its excellence. The wine selection is nothing short of amazing, and the staff is well-versed in their offerings. A visit here promises an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it without hesitation. You simply cannot go wrong with this outstanding establishment.
You can get a glass of good wine without paying a rent 🍷
Horrible place, rude bartender, to avoid at all costs
Such a great homey wine bar
Best experience ever in a middle of Manhattan Best Food Best services ...5 🌟
Both food and service are above expectations.
Great authentic French cafe with very personable owners.
Great place, awesome management, dont miss the burger!!
Had dinner friday night during happy hour. Food was bland and looked really unappetizing. Tried the tuna tartare, coq au riesling and burger.
Unfortunately, we came when the kitchen was already closed (New York apparently sometimes does sleep). We had a bottle of wine and enjoyed it a lot. One thing I liked in particular was that it wasnt very loud, although the place was packed to the gills. This allowed me to easily catch up with my friends I met there.
Great happy hour. Nice staff
Cute wine bar with good food choices.
I had high expectations but my friend and I were very disappointed. Where do I begin... Most of the food (and wine) that we ordered was tasteless. Beef tartare was still frozen when served, foie gras texture was not right, escargot in cream sauce was fatty but still no taste. The only decent thing was the mussels with truffle fries. The service was fine, but we definitely wont come back.
I was yelled at by the manager. I would strongly suggest avoiding this bar.
Nice small bar, with good quality bartenders mixing up your favorite drinks.
My experience was such a disaster in this place. I ordered a burger with fries, the bread was so cold and the fries cut so thinly and saggy .... Ordering a glass of wine was a mission. When our server came finally to take the order, she looked so upset and annoyed... The bartender didnt care about the drinks order and we had to literally walk away from the table to ask again for our drinks. we later learned that these two were the owners .. ....Terrible ! Terrible ! Terrible !
Probably my favorite restaurant right now, have been a handful of times and the food and service has consistently been top notch. The couple who owns the place is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance inside is darker more candle lit so it’s great for a date spot. Great selection of French wines and French food
Nice menu. It needs an espresso machine.
My favorite neighborhood restaurant. The service is always great and the food is AMAZING. If you’re looking for a place to have an intimate & cozy date night with yummy food and wine, I highly recommended Château 49.
I was excited to try this restaurant for brunch. Very disappointed in the service. The truffle fries were served cold and I let the waitress know. She took the fries but explained we would be charged. I was fine with that but then I get the bill stating I’m getting charged for two orders of fries. I questioned it and the waitress states me not liking the fries was not their issue, it was mine. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If there was a way to give a review without a star, this would be the “starless” review.
Food very average, flavors didn’t come through. We had 2 fix priced menu for 35$ each: escargot and leek and potato soup as appetisers; coque au riesling and grilled salmon as mains plus creme brûlée (which was more like a flan) and chocolate mousse for dessert. Portions were generous but I would rather have smaller portion with higher quality.
Top wine and food selection, long happy hour, and above all GREAT owners who always welcome their guests with a warm smile. The atmosphere is very relaxed yet classy. I’m also a huge fan of their weekend brunch. Highly recommend the eggs nordique.
Marvelous environment, all the staff and owners are so nice, excellent service, food is delicious and amazing wine selection!
Small, cozy and atmospheric. Good vibes from staff and what appears to be mostly locals, at least at night. Wine (red) was disappointing in that it was served at about 78-80 degrees from a bottle that had clearly been open for 48+ hours. Maybe they can buy a wine fridge by cashing in some of those 5-star reviews and perhaps summon the courage to throw out stale wine.
The hospitality and warmth provided by you all is beyond words. The finest dinner I have had in some time. The wine selection was classy, the burrata was silky, and the steak au poivre was seared to perfection. Merci mes nouveaux amis.
Sunday afternoons a favorite place to hang out and enjoy wine and food. Burgers are juicy and flavorful and served with frites, which are not extra. My husband has great fondness for the mussels cream in sauce. The menu is changed seasonally so a favorite place does not get boring or lose its charm. Wine specials are good, but ask for a recommendation you will not be disappointed,
The food is okay. However, the service really disturbed us. We did a curbside pick up. I asked if everything was in there. The guy rushed away and emphasized that everything was there. Guess what? There was a missing order. Wife went inside and got grilled by the woman. No apologies. No nothing. Its okay. Im cool with once and done.
Went here after a meal at Smith and Wallenskys and it was great. We even got a shot of port on the house from the very attentive and friendly barman
Amazing wine selection, great food, and the best service anywhere in the city. The owners work full time and are invested in your enjoyment. They treat everyone like family. Love it here!
Always a party time to be there. Possibilities to sit outside, inside or at the bar. Great service, great food, very clean!
Went for drinks. Good happy hour good service decent drink selection. Nothong special, just a decent neighborhood spot. but if you are in the area stop by
Delicious plates. Great drinks! My favorite is the steak tartare.
Solid neighborhood spot. Just hosted a large party and had a great time. Wine and drinks were flowing all night. The food was excellent. The chocolate desert is a must! Cheers...
Beautiful lunch spot- excellent wine selection and food was fantastic!
Fun, Frenchie wine bar with lots of French by the glass wines. Nice cozy atmosphere.
Maybe they’re friendly if you’re a local. The food was ok. My cocktail was strong and that’s the only plus there.
Clean, nice menu a tad pricey but sadly staff were rude and crass on top.
Had happy hour wine 👍👍👍👍, their Burger cooked to order(filet & brisket) with fries(ask for well done) & Branzino(white fish) 👍👍👍👍. Great surprise on 2nd Ave & 49th St. They can cook here! The food is above par & HH wine prices make it a great deal on the East side. Will be back often!
Outstanding service and ambience, great french food. local people (if this can be applied to NYC) go here :)
Wonderful neighborhood bar, great food and drinks. The owner, Rocco is a doll. Get the lava cake!! We live 2 doors down and love to sit outside with our westie.
Food is good though not the best French food you can get in the city by a long shot. Happy hour is good.
My first time at Chateau 49 and it was one of the best customer experiences I’ve ever had. The owners are Rok and his wife who are both absolutely amazing! I had the Burrata on the menu which was super refreshing and delicious!! This is a cozy spot for lunch, happy hour 12pm-7pm (cannot beat that in this neighborhood), and date nights. Lots of friendly locals and after work crowds. You’ll never be disappointed with the cultural diversity. You will come across your neighbor or someone from the other side of the world. Staff are super friendly, attentive, accommodating and have a great sense of humor! Will return for my next date night :)
High price for decent food. The food has a weak taste and the lights are off... Disappointed.
Super friendly and the food and service was excellent
Fantastic!!!! The food was amazing and great wine selection. The cote de rhone is my favorite.
Great atmosphere, very relaxing. Really nice staff and most delicious wines and food.
Lots of food and wine choices. Great staff. Always friendly.
I tried Poulet Poti Aux Herbes, Coq au Riesling and Boeuf Bourguignon Lunch and liked them all. All delicious. Good portions and very flavorful. I think Poulet Poti Aux Herbes was the best among these three dishes I got. The chicken was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. The gravy was amazing, savory aromatic and rich. I dipped my own toasts in it and it was so delicious. Would be great if this dish comes with bread.
Brilliant place! We had an excellent New Years Eve here! Fantastic night!!
Really good food. Rocco and Flo have created a friendly wine bar and neighborhood place
Nice wine bar for happy hour. Its hard to get a seat/table though
This is our favorite French bistro in the neighborhood. The food is delicious and the service is warm and welcoming. My husband loves the Niçoise salad. The coq au vin is excellent too. I recommend this place highly.
Fantastic menu and great food
This place is so Cozy, the best everrrrrThey have great wines, such a nice place to enjoy saturday night with your friends!!!!
Amazing place, amazing service, good quality of food. Its our go to place on the east side...
Excellent spot. Great staff.
So fine and cozy French cuisine place. Steak au poivre and Saumon a laneth are my favorites go-to, even though you can find some other very French special like Coq aur vin, moules frites and creme caramel. Wine list daily updated and always in happy hour mode. Another go-to is Flo, the manager-waitress, graceful mixed beauty, kinda 8th wonder, really perfect for a classy place like this.
Servers are under staffed but a great happy hour and food options.
Cozy place with good food and wine selection.
A wonderful cute and cozy new French restaurant and wine bar that just opened in Midtown East! The wine is great, the food is fantastic! I highly recommend the burata, lobster mac, the roast chicken, and the steak au poivre, but everything weve had has been delicious so far! They have a lot of wines but im a Francophile and love that they have some hard-to-find French wines. Lots of wood and candlelight, so great for a romantic evening. The owners have worked in the area for many years and they seem to really take care of their guests. Cant wait to go back. :)
Great vibe and great drinks!
Casual, tasty food.
Amazing place, classy and stylish. When you go there ask for Rocky😊😊😊!
Great foods. Friendly staff.
Amazing food, Amazing wine. Rocky is the bestttttt
What. A. Place. Go there and have the best dinner.
